Went to #HarlemMeer for the first time today. Learned three things: 1- bluegill are aptly named, 2- bluegill fins are SHARP! And 3- flyfishers are definitely happy to see other flyfishers; I had two people give me flies, and I caught fish on both of them! My niece woke me up before 7am this morning...😑 But upside, I got to fish this morning. Saw what I think was a sizeable brown trout swim up to then reject my chartreuse wooly bugger. Caught two creek chub though, including this guy! My biggest creek chub ever! Exploring new water is tough. After two days of not seeing any life, I conceded and hit water I knew. Saw a trout chasing these guys in a pool as soon as I arrived. Caught a few of these guys, but the trout was so fast I couldn't figure out where he was hiding after he nabbed one. He came out and darted after one one more time in the 45 mins I stayed at the spot. This is a #mosaic at the Delancey stop, which was my most frequented subway stop my first two years in #NYC. I must have walked by thousands of times and never really thought much of it. But boy, does it make me grin now!!
