Today in Christian History
Tumblr media
Today is Saturday, February 19th, the 50th day of 2022. There are 315 days left in the year.
Today’s Highlight in History:
1414: Death in Canterbury, Kent, England, of Thomas Arundel, archbishop of Canterbury and chancellor of England. He had been a violent persecutor of the Lollards, Wycliffe’s reform followers.
1568: Burial of Miles Coverdale, who had produced the first complete printed edition of the Scriptures in English, completing William Tyndale’s Bible following Tyndale’s execution. Coverdale’s version of the Psalms will long be used by the Church of England.
1672: Death in Boston, Massachusetts, of Charles Chauncy, eighteen years the president of Harvard College. A Congregational clergyman, his insistance on full immersion for baptism had been controversial in New England.
1716: Death in Bergen, Norway, of Dorothe Engelbretsdotter, once highly regarded for her Christian verses, which included an evening and a morning hymn.
1735: Death in Germantown, Pennsylvania, of Alexander Mack, leader of America’s German Baptists.
1812: The Caravan sails from Salem Harbor with America’s first foreign missionaries aboard: the Judsons and Newells.
1869: Death near Melrose, Scotland, of Elizabeth Clephane. A Scottish orphan, she wrote two memorable hymns: “Beneath the Cross of Jesus” and “The Ninety and Nine.”
1882: Death in Toronto, Canada, of Methodist minister Egerton Ryerson who had been a notabale educator in Canada. Although most of his reforms and innovations had high merit, his policies for the education of native Americans will be censured by future generations.
1896: Death of Xi Shengmo. After years of bondage to opium, he had become a Christian and the Holy Spirit freed him after an agonizing battle. He then adopted his last name which meant “conqueror of demons.” He went on to establish fifty opium refuges in four provinces where prayer was a major factor in treatment of the addicts. Many became Christians and applied his methods to other addicts.
1948: Butrus Sowmy conveys the first of the Dead Sea Scrolls to American John Trever, whom he had contacted the day before. Trever requests permission to photograph them and sends the photographs to famed archaeologist William Albright, who will confirm the value of the manuscripts.
1954: Death of evangelist Lionel Bale Fletcher in Sydney, Australia.

In Hindu mythology, Rakshasas are evil creatures comparable to demons in Christianity. They are usually deformed in some way, with fangs, extra limbs or grotesque proportions. Most are fierce warriors, and many are cannibalistic. Most possess magical abilities. Notabale Rakshasas include Ravana, King of the Rakshasas; Vibhishana, his brother; and the terrible Hidimba.
In Western culture, the Rakshasa has been adapted as a villain many times, including comics, manga and video games. In the roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons, they are powerful mages with tiger heads and backwards-facing hands.

12 dancing princesses tomarry AU
Ginny disappears into the chamber of secrets. This part of the story doesn’t change. A little girl finds a diary and makes a friend.
.
Here’s where the story changes, Harry and Ron never figure out how to get down to the chamber of secrets. It was pure luck that they ever found a way down the first time around, this life, they aren’t as lucky.
Ginny disappears, presumed dead and her body is never found but the murders and the petrifications stop. The Weasley family grieves and there are long months where it seems as if the grief will kill at least one more Weasley but in the end they all survive and life moves on.
Hogwarts manages to stay open on the threat that there must never be another death or disappearance.
.
.
Harry comes back for third year and the moment he steps into the castle he feels something tugging at him. Something buzzing under his skin pulling him down towards the dungeons. He ignores the feeling until after lights are out and then slips out of the tower to follow the pull.
Harry always was a little too inquisitive for his own good
.
.
The tugging leads him down down down to an endless room that has a black lake stretched across it. He crosses the lake and when he does he finds eleven other students there, they all look as confused as he does but the tugging has stopped so he must be in the right place.
Then from the darkness emerges 12 cloaked figures and a haunting melody begins playing. Eleven of the cloaked figures break off and pair up with the eleven other students.
There is a long moment when twelfth figure does nothing but stare at Harry and for a moment Harry is overcome with this fear that they will turn and leave. Eventually the figure does approach Harry. He holds out his hand and when they touch Harry feels his soul quiver.
he doesn’t know what has happened but he know it can’t be good, he knows there is no coming back from whatever deal he just struck
.
.
The dancing continues for the next three years. Harry and the other students continue to go below to dance and none of them ever whisper a word about it. They never discuss it, even though many of them know each other already.
.
Sixth year Dumbledore takes it upon himself to tell Harry about Tom Riddle. Even though there have been no signs of him returning since their 2nd year, Dumbledore remains convinced that Voldemort will return. Harry however, is beginning to doubt that anything will ever happen at all.
.
.
But then one night Harry goes down to dance and for the very first time his partner lowers his hood and Harry finds himself staring into the eyes of a still sixteen year old Tom Riddle. Finds himself staring into the eyes of the man who killed his parents.
.
.
Vanishing Students
On October 31st twelve students mysteriously vanished from Hogwarts. One of which is the chosen one himself, Harry Potter. Dumbledore refuses to give a statement but the minister and many different parents have been seen coming and going from Hogwarts. Notable parents include Lucius & Narcissa Malfoy and Arthur & Molly Weasley.  This will be the second child that the Weasley’s have lost within the span of five years.
The other students that have gone missing are Hermione Granger & Ron Weasley, Harry Potter’s two best friends.
Children from a few notabale pure-blood families have also vanished, these children are Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, Astoria Greengrass, Padma Patil, and Terry Boot.
Hannah Abbot, Cedric Diggory, Susan Bones and Luna Lovegood are the other four students that have vanished.
This is a great blow to the wizarding world and many parents are wondering if Hogwarts is indeed safe at all anymore. Many parents have already withdrawn their children and many will likely not return to Hogwarts next year.
The wizarding world mourns and can only hope that the children will be found alive.
.
.
The wizarding world is in an uproar. But as life has a tendency to do, it moves on. And while the attendance for Hogwarts drops significantly, Hogwarts remains open.
.
Three years later in the middle of the great hall, Tom Riddle and Harry Potter stride in the doors, standing side by side, flanked by all the missing students and the wizarding world really never stood a chance.
tldr: Tom Riddle is resurrected in Harry’s second year and handpicks students from Hogwarts to train. The golden trio happened to be part of those picked.

What a depressing day. All I'm thinking about is how to prepare myself financially if I want to change my life in the next couple of months. December Financial Todo-list: 1. Renew car sticker = $150? 2. Buy 6 months of car insurance= $254 3. Term insurance for me = $200 4. Term insurane for parents = $500? ==$1,100. And I'll get these covered with my side gigs. #youcandoit #itmustbedone #houseofkhang #finance #notaballer #dreams
