not to be old man who blames the dang twitter kids for everything but on a site without a character limit there’s very little need for XYZ Duo when i can literally just say “(name) and (name) team/friendship/alliance/dUo.” the only reason i can think of is for a snappy/easily searchable tag, but… if you wanted a reliable and easily searchable global tag tumblr is not going to provide, lol.
Here was my main point though:
can we please use words other than duo.
I get the desire for a catchy name and a good hashtag. Mainly what I'm objecting to is seeing lists that are just Puzzle Duo, Keyboard Duo, Cabinet Duo, Water Bottle Duo, Email Duo, Polka Duo, Saxophone Duo, Fuzzy Slippers Duo, ad nauseum. PLEASE let's get a little more creative with things.

Out of curiosity, why is the series called "bombing"? I feel like I'm missing a bit of lexicon.
Good question! "Bombing" is a graffiti term:
"Bomb: To bomb or hit is to paint many surfaces in an area. Bombers often choose to paint throw-ups or tags instead of complex pieces, as they can be executed more quickly."
(Thanks Wikipedia!)
I wanted a title that was cool and catchy, but also true to the culture. This term can be confusing, but the flip side is there actually weren't a ton of other graffiti slang that I felt were catchy while also sounding like an fun title haha. I like "Bombing" since it means covering an area in as much junky paint as you possibly can; it's evocative of what I wanted the experience of the game to feel like at the time!
When it comes to naming my games I'm a huge fan of names that are either way way too long (but can be abbreviated), or names that are super short. Originally the game was just called "Bombing!!" and, even though it was short, I had anticipated "!!" would make it more searchable and have better SEO. Unfortunately I learned you can't actually search for punctuation properly on most search engines (huzzah!). That's why "A Graffiti Sandbox" was appended as a subtitle, so I could be very explicit about what the game was and help people find it better online.
Bombing!! 2: A Graffiti Paradise was my chosen name for the follow-up because it keeps the association with the original game (even though they're going to be SO different quality-wise) and also allows me to give a player a brief glimpse as to what the game and mood of it is.
As you point out some people don't know the association with the term, and I've even seen some people criticize the title because they read it as being associated with acts of war (which I think is pretty silly considering the game is very much not about anything remotely war-related!)
Would I name the series something different now? Almost certainly, I think if I spent more time on it I could have found a better alternative that is more explicit about what the meaning is. Especially had I known it would catch an audience and I'd be making more than one game in the series! It was one (of many) mistakes I made trying to ship my own game for the first time and that's okay - at least it shows my growth. :)
I've definitely warmed up to it over time though, I like the two "!!" as a style indicator, and I like that people still just call it "Bombing" most of the time. I've definitely learned from the experience and now know I should probably pay more attention to what I actually name the things I make because it matters a lot more than I'd expect!

Simple Ideas For Helping You To Understand Search Engine Optimization
Good search engine optimization is essential for every successful online business. However, it is often difficult to know which SEO techniques are the most effective at getting your business's website ranked highly on SERPs for your targeted keywords. Following are some simple SEO tips which will help you to select the best SEO methods to use:
Do not let search engine optimization take over your online business! True, SEO is an important part of building your website. SEO should never be as important as satisfying your customers, though. If you spend so much time on search engine optimization that you find yourself neglecting your customers, you should reevaluate your priorities.
Because search engines need to be able to navigate your site to index it properly, you should use JavaScript for progressive enhancement only. The entire site does not need to be JavaScript-enabled. You only need to use this for enhanced functionally. When it comes to easy navigation, JavaScript is a big no-no in SEO.
Searchable words are an important part of search engine optimization. Web crawling bots look for the keywords that a user enters into the search engine. You can help users find your page, by including those keywords in your website. Write advice columns on your site that include those words and people will read your advice, adding credibility to your sit. This will, in turn, bring your page rank up higher.
Ask for help, or better yet, search for it. There are hundreds of websites available that offer innovative expertise on optimizing your search engine hits. Take advantage of them! Research the best and most current methods to keep your site running smoothly and to learn how not to get caught up in tricks that don't really work.
Tumblr media
The Diamond Club If you are looking to get more traffic to your site, a great way to do so is to list your site on a pay per click program like Google AdWords. With programs like this, your site gets advertised at the top of searches for a small price per visitor.
You should always use your keyword phrases in your HTML title tag. The title tag is the main weight during a search using a search engine. If you were the reader, what words would you be likely to search for? Once those words have been identified, they should be added to your page title.
Make sure the first few sentences of the first paragraph on your site can double as an HTML meta description tag. This is because there are certain search engines that will make use of the text itself as the site description blurb shown in the search engine that Internet searchers see. Having bad or useless content on your website can harm your SEO.
When dealing with search engine optimization it is extremely important to use your keywords or keyword phrases in the body of your web page, be it blog or otherwise. Try and use your keywords a few times in the beginning of each page to attract readers/users and keep their interest.
Use press releases to increase interest in your website and to improve its rank. A well written press release draws visitors to your site. This alone will help your search engine optimization, but the number of publishers that use your press release, particularly popular ones, will help your site rank better.
When optimizing a website, you need to pick one search engine to optimize for, otherwise, things will get very complicated. The most used search engine is Google, so it's best to start there. Many websites have articles detailing what Google is looking for, as well as, how their algorithm treats a webpage with a lower page rank.
In order to gauge how successful your efforts have been for increasing traffic to your site, you must develop a measurement tool. One basic way to measure this is to review the number of sales orders, newsletter subscriptions, membership applications, or other items that are sold from your site. You would need a baseline measure before you worked to increase traffic, and an after measure to compare it with.
When choosing a domain name, include a keyword phrase. Just using a single keyword and your company name isn't as effective as just using the phrase you've chosen as your primary draw. The longer the domain, the harder it is for people to remember it. Short, sweet, and catchy is what you should go for.
When it comes to alerting search engines about new content on your site, a pinging service can be your best friend. Many of the larger blogging engines like Wordpress offer regular pinging notifications as part of a paid or premium hosting service. You can also use services like Ping-O-Matic to manually notify search engine crawlers of new content.
For the best search engine optimization, keep in mind that the quality of keywords is more important than quantity and pick the words that are the ones your customer will be searching for. Adding extra keywords may not bring extra customers if they do not accurately describe your content.
Mastering SEO takes time, but hopefully, this article has provided you with a few handy SEO tips that will help to increase your website's ranking on search engine results pages. As your website's rank increases, it should start to receive a lot more targeted, organic traffic; As a result, your business should start to receive more customers.

9 Ways to Get More Subscribers on Your YouTube Channel in 2019
Tumblr media
As 2019 moves forward, we continue to see the rise of video marketing as one of the most popular and engaging mediums available for your content marketing strategy. Among several video content platforms, YouTube is the most prominent one in the video blogging, sharing, and marketing space. YouTube is a property of Google and available to use free of cost. It is also the most extensively used video content channel and the second most used search engine behind Google. Though Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have ventured into the video sector, they still fall far behind YouTube when quality, acceptability, and impact comes into question. In the last couple of years, YouTube videos have received tremendous momentum, and it is growing every single day. YouTube even serves as a great way to get content ranked in search results for specific search inquiries.
Tumblr media
If you have a YouTube channel, then one of your main focuses should be to get more subscribers to your channel to increase the reach of your videos. YouTube receives more than a billion unique visitors every month and provides a great platform to get exposure on your content every single time you post. Whatever the material may be, from small talk shows to DIY videos, YouTube has become a one-stop place for all kinds of video audiences. With the way people have started engaging on YouTube, video marketing is a must use choice for online marketing professionals that are looking to grow in popularity and increase visibility. YouTube is a great channel to build a personal rapport with your followers or consumers. YouTube provides enormous opportunity for marketers to drive massive traffic, but that requires a good number of subscribers to your channel. With 2019 in full swing, let us get you started with building your YouTube presence. Here are nine ways to increase your follower count on YouTube:
1. Planning is the First Step Towards Growth
You will need to determine a few things before you start a YouTube channel: Why do you need a YouTube channel? How will you begin your YouTube journey? What will your content be about? Whom will your content be targeting? Planning the structure of your videos is very important. To make your channel successful, it is essential that you venture into things that you love most and are passionate about. So, create content around the subject that you enjoy the most. Don’t always create content based on what sells most because you might end up getting bored at some point in time and this will be evident on your YouTube channel. Always avoid subjects that are visible everywhere and try to be creative while providing useful content. Another important part of creating powerful videos for traffic is to be sure that your scripts are well prepared before you plan to shoot your video content. You will be able to keep yourself on-topic and remain focused on your subject. Here are a few points to keep in mind when developing your video script: Clearly define the objective of the video. Identify who your audience is going to be. What will your video solve for your audience? Are you using the appropriate language for your target audience? Make sure your body language is upbeat and positive. What are you displaying? Is it yourself, a computer screen, or something else? What points do you need to stress? What will be your call-to-action at the end of the video?
2. Create Engaging and Meaningful Content
The most critical factor for any type of content marketing is whether or not the content is engaging, entertaining, and informative. Ensure that your video carries out these three goals and this will increase your chance of someone subscribing to your channel and becoming an avid follower. If your content is entertaining and informative, it will automatically engage your viewers. On your channel, there should be a mix of instant hits and longer videos that are more in-depth as you become more popular. Instant hits tend to fade away quicker, but they also help you to get instant traffic to your channel. The long-lasting informational pieces might take time to become popular while you build your viewership, but these are the types of quality videos that stay relevant for quite some time. In the long run, one should create more long-lasting videos that have the chance to create a lasting impact online.
Tumblr media
3. Upload Frequency of Your Videos
Videos should be uploaded regularly without too much delay between each posting. However, don't just post videos to post videos. Learn how to provide valuable visual content that is relevant and valid to what is going on in your niche. Be sure that your video is not stale by the time you post it. Building a YouTube following requires you to upload content that is trending and actually being searched online. Anyone can upload videos, but it is the quality of the videos that will create a lasting impression and create follower growth. This is why the planning portion of the video content is so significant. When people subscribe to your channel, they expect frequent updates and new material that encourages them to come back. Be sure to keep up with the demand of your subscribers and create consistent video postings to ensure the success of your channel. Your videos should be released in a structured manner at a fixed time and regularly. You can decide on your frequency, but keep your audiences updated.
4. Videos Should Be No Longer than 5 minutes
You must respect the time of your viewers. When you are first starting out your main focus should be engaging viewers and creating exciting videos. Unless you are a well-known global celebrity or already established within your industry, rarely will anyone watch your introductory videos beyond a few minutes. So, the length of your video matters early on. In general, videos that are shorter than five minutes in length drive more traffic than those that are longer than five minutes. As your following increases and you gain the trust of your subscribers, then you can produce longer videos that are more in-depth. Above all else, be sure to keep a tab on your audiences’ reactions and the analytics of your videos that are provided by YouTube.
5. Have a Captivating Beginning and Ending of the Video
Adding an intro and an outro to your videos helps to brand your videos. It also makes your videos more engaging and provides a much more professional look and feel to your videos. On YouTube, you can have an opening intro applied to all of your videos and an outro with the same music in which you request your audience to join you for the next video or subscribe to your channel. Creating brand awareness online is an important step in building a YouTube following.
Tumblr media
6. Optimize the Titles, Thumbnails, and Descriptions of Your Videos
Titles and thumbnails are two of the most essential aspects of your video upload since they are readily visible to viewers when they search for your video topic. So, make sure your titles and thumbnails grab the attention of the searcher. Design a thumbnail that is unique, consistent, and able to tell the user what they are going to be watching. Being unique is a critical factor to become successful on YouTube. Be sure to make customized thumbnails for every single video. This will add to the quality of your channel. Below is an example of a thumbnail I use for my videos.
Tumblr media
Also, ensure that the description that you give your viewers is on point and provides keywords that users would use to find your video. It must be catchy, relevant, and search engine friendly too. So, look for keywords that can help you optimize your description and video for search engines.
7. Place Calls-to-Action in All of Your Videos
You can use the ‘Call-to-Action’ annotations on videos to compel your prospective subscribers to click on them and subscribe to your channel. The popups can sometimes be annoying, but they can also help you to get a good number of subscribers if you are providing quality content. You can also add a simple link as a call to action in your video or use graphics to make them more interesting. Use the CTA's wisely and be sure that you don't annoy your users, similar to how you would deploy pop-ups on your website. Another less intrusive way to create a CTA is to just say so in your video. Ask users to like, comment, or subscribe to your channel if they enjoyed the video!
8. Make Sure that Your Videos are Easy to Find
Make sure your channels are searchable in as many ways possible. You can link your YouTube channel to your website if you own a site. In doing so, if visitors end up on your website they can also get to your YouTube channel. This will also help you in building your brand across platforms. If you are also posting the videos on your website, be sure to include the URL to the blog post for easy viewing. Also, do not forget to add the “Subscribe to My YouTube Channel’ button on your blog or website.
9. Cross-Platform Promotion of YouTube Channel
In this age of social media, if you do not make use of the mediums available, then you are losing a tremendous opportunity for cross-platform promotion. Being available on all the social media channels is one of the best applications of your time if you are serious about promoting your brand and increasing social media growth for your business. If brand building is your primary objective, then make yourself available on as many platforms possible. The more discoverable you become, the more opportunities you will have to grow your reach. Become active on all social media platforms. Create profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram and all other major social media channels. Share your videos on all the different channels in a very strategic manner. Ensure that you maintain uniformity across channels to build your brand image. Doing so will help you build a brand and make you recognizable throughout the internet. Don't be afraid to share with your network what you have been doing on YouTube and request friends to subscribe that might find your information appealing. Creating a solid YouTube channel is an ongoing process that is always evolving. Every day strive to find an improvement in some area of your channel. YouTube is a great way to reach out to your consumers in a very engaging and entertaining fashion. Read the full article
