MUSE LANDO YES
truly is this what he is for DJs?? energy being so important for a DJ set and of course having beautiful Lando dancing around with the sheen of his perfectly toned skin reflecting every change of the lights right where they can grab at him and furtively smell where his cologne hasn't touched has got to be inspiration.
but god I want him to get really artsy friends who not only make him feel desired and loved but who can express how Lando makes them feel in photography, painting, sculpture, poetry, film, or making jewelry that specifically invokes Lando's eyes or the gradient of pinks in his lips or the way humidity clings to his curls like a coronet fashioned from the air of faraway places that smell like oudh incorporated in a fragrance made just for him.
a painter could express the textures and vibrating energy of Lando standing shirtless and shoeless on a balcony during torrential rain. a sculptor could transform pieces of old industrial iron into a lithe climbing shape to evoke Lando stretching himself up and awake after a nap on a sun-filled penthouse rug. photographers and visual artists would spend weeks just following him around cities he's never seen before, straining to capture the way his neck extends balletic and strong when his curiosity is piqued and the broken-open fragility of his verde gris eyes when he falls into a fleeting love affair with a stranger or a cramped side street or a little hint of the humdrum practicality of a Normal Life he's never known even in passing.
and if I let my brain go real nuts here maybe some rumpled wannabe documentary filmmaker-slash-nepo baby desperate to justify his place in filmmaking chooses to stumble after Lando during an entire F1 season. and maybe he brings a cumbersome setup of thin, patched screens covered in acoustic foam panels and an even more unwieldy vintage camera across oceans and continents so that he always records Lando in one familiar corner of space no matter where they are. maybe he's trying to settle Lando's too-trusting, frightened nature into a sense of habit so that he can finally record the way Lando looks and talks when everyone's phones are down and the early evening steals the hotel room's artificial light and makes reality feel thin and viscous. maybe after a few races he finally gets Lando to talk about The Ones Who Were Gone. the men who did what Lando had never known men could do to him: leave. he'd urge Lando past the "I know it's stupid" and "it's totally normal in racing" and "obviously we're still really good friends, it's not a big deal anymore". get him to revisit two, three, four years ago and the filmmaker would sit frozen as still as possible until Lando's face regresses into the softness and the bitterness of watching a supposed dear friend laughing big and loud while his child's heart was burning with hurt and sadness. perhaps it would feel too cruel to keep him there in that old sadness and the filmmaker's own voice would be left in the film when he brings up Piastri. good, steady, possibly boring Piastri who eagerly took two extra years before his first had even finished. the even-keeled wallflower who had endured resounding hatred from fans across everywhere Ricciardo had sown loyalty to himself and an entire team proclaiming Piastri an ungrateful turncoat, both to the public and to the court. the pale boy who pressed his pale lips together and turned his shoulders in and soldiered on through months of everyone crowing that he must already regret all he had thrown away, that he was getting what he deserved. all because the boy chose McLaren, chose the little live-wire changeling Lando, and whose steady brown eyes saw his future's glory clear and bright through the mess and the noise. the boy who was so unlike Lando in every superficial way, who Lando one day turned to look at in the eyes and thought 'you're the same as me'.
because it was worth the waiting through all of Lando's capricious sometimes frenetic moods during their hours of filming to capture the moment when Lando's smile untwists from wry and fond to bright and clear when he talks about his future with the boy who waits and watches - and sometimes turns serious - in exactly the way the one! and only! Lando Norris! deserves. whose eyes see just what Lando's see and the filmmaker thinks bang! got it! because that bright-eyed toothy smile looks just like the photo of tiny Lando holding a trophy nearly the size of his own body that he's absolutely going to cut into the end of the doc.

thank u ever so much to the dearest girl @cazzyf1 to do this cute little f1 tag 😘 thank u caz <3
WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE DRIVER? it changes every time i am asked, i guess the one who will always appear in my favourites list is john watson, forever and always 🥰🥰 the more i learnt about him, the more i loved him. i have a video of him yapping for 30+ mins in my tabs.
DO YOU HAVE OTHER FAVOURITE DRIVERS? so many, too many. i guess the ones at the moment are patrick depailler, whose name i recently learnt how to spell without looking up - very big achievement! wolfgang von trips, jack brabham, peter revson, jim clark, chris amon [when are u finally gotta see him as hot??? mhm???? i seriously will not rest] bruce mclaren, carlos pace, riccardo patrese, ronnie peterson, piers courage, the italian drivers of the 80s somehow.
WHO IS YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE DRIVER? no! i'm not really big into the modern f1 so i'm not a huge fan of any of them but there isn't a driver i don't like. i'm just indifferent towards them. i'm also very forgiving !
DO YOU PULL FOR DRIVERS OR DO YOU LIKE TEAMS AS WELL? i mostly focus on the drivers! they are the personality of the team for sure!
IF YOU LIKE A TEAM, WHAT TEAM DO YOU PULL FOR? mclaren baby !!!! but like pre 2007 ! i like the team because of brucey boo :) brabhaam like obviously i would die for that team i literally ever forgive whatever happened during the 80s to make it go down hill >:((( lotus as well, colin chapman i would probably have insane beef on sight with but literally all the favs drove [or nearly drove] for lotus so i guess i gotta.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INTO F1? mid april 2023, i'm only a wee baby.
WHAT GOT YOU INTO F1? one day, out of the blew on the date above, i was thinking about daniel riccardo and how he doesn't appear on the tv as much as he used to. being in australia he would appear on news programs when i was younger talking about the shoeys. so i just decided to see what he was doing. i watched those grill the grid videos and thought they were very funny. but because it was modern f1 i just felt weird watching it, i have no idea why. it just felt weird. i already knew about aryton senna from seeing one picture of him on instagram and reading his personal life wiki page like it was my bible when i was like 12. i decided to watch a season of f1, i think it was 1991 and that was it. i was gone. i kept watching it. and went down the rabbit hole.
DO YOU ENJOY FANFIC/RPF? i don't personally partake in it, but i won't stop anyone from enjoying it. that's their life.
HOW DO YOU VIEW NEW FANS? with open arms, as long as you are respectful and credit sources when you can, welcome aboard to the madhouse.
IF YOU COULD TAKE OVER AS TEAM PRINCIPAL FOR ANY TEAM, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?  oh i just couldn't do it. i'm sorry i can't handle that responsibly. i'd be more than happy to watch like some kid on work experience, especially for mercedes, but i'd get thrown too much in the deep in.
ARE YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY INTO F1 AS WELL? nope! none of them, that's why it was a huge surprise when i started to watch it. my family's only link is that my dad watched ayrton senna's crash when he got home from the pub. i forced him to watch his first grand prix a couple of months ago. he wasn't too keen. oh and my nana went to a few of the races in the 80s.
ARE YOU OPEN TO TALKING TO OTHER FANS/MAKING FRIENDS? of course !!! i love learning about motorsports and i always try to be helpful - if you ever want to know anything or need a link to a gif i have made, let me know !! i'm very naughty for not putting links to videos!!
i will tag @quattroneuville & @userpironi if they are willing :)

Who is your favorite driver? Oscar and Lando first and foremost, Max, Guanyu, and Alex because they're funny and they have cats, Yuki because he loves food.
Do you have other favorite drivers? I'm on the fence about Logan because on one hand, he seems nice but on the other, he reminds me of too many guys I went to high school with. (The fishing hobby doesn't exactly help either.)
Who is your least favorite driver? I am a hater at heart, but I don't want to be crucified, so I'll just let whoever stumbles across this post wonder.
Do you pull for drivers or do you like teams as well? I didn't want to attach myself too much to a team in case the drivers I like leave, but sure, McLaren, you've somewhat charmed me, and you're faster now, so.
If you like teams, what team do you pull for? See above.
How long have you been into F1? HAH since mid-January.
What got you into F1? This tiktok of George reacting to potential intro poses, NONE OF WHICH WE ACTUALLY SAW SMH, and then I fell down a rabbit hole of F1 memes. If there's one way to hook me, it's memes. I've made a fair few myself, and if you've seen one that goes "people be like 'good night everyone' but then *insert screenshot of ao3*" floating around tumblrdotcom, that was unfortunately me.
Do you enjoy Fanfic/RPF? No. Absolutely not.
How do you view new fans? I feel like I'm still a new fan. Like, yes, I can explain DRS to anyone who asks, but I still feel like an imposter.
If you could take over as team principal for any team, who would it be and why? Brother uehhh (sorry). I'm already experiencing enough hair loss, thank you. Although, now that I think about it, I could be rich while experiencing hair loss... nah, nobody can pay me enough to babysit men.
Are your friends and family into F1 as well? I told my sibling about F1 when it was still just a budding interest, and they were like "you getting into F1 was NOT on my 2024 bingo card"... and, plot twist, now they're also into F1, and their favorite driver is Carlos. My mother also enjoys it enough to send me memes, like the one depicting the Ferrari pit crew as Smurfs during the Miami GP. My partner sadly doesn't Get My Obsession with F1, but they did immediately rate ZGY a 10, so that's good enough for me.
Are you open to talking to other fans/making friends? Yeah! I'm terrible at approaching people, though. Aside from sending a couple anonymous compliments to writers whose fics I've especially enjoyed, reaching out to other users sometimes feels like sending a professor an email, which is to say it's terrifying, but I'm definitely open to talking. And after I warm up to someone, I fear you'll never stop hearing from me. Ki and Wiz can confirm.
Whoever sees this and wants to play, go right ahead!

lmao weirdly enough i was also talking about george's whole role in this current merc thing. and while i'm trying to avoid being all doom-and-gloom about kimi's impeding entry to f1 i do think that the fast-tracking of kimi through the feeder series was very much a vanity project for toto for a couple reasons:
imo toto's obsession with missing out on max all those years ago is not actually about max or any specific driver for that matter: it's about scouting and talent spotting, like @luigihamilton44 perfectly said, finding a "golden rookie" but most importantly? taking a risk on that golden rookie. red bull has had TWO of these with seb and max. mclaren currently has two of these with lando and oscar [and as i'll mention very soon has had a third]. ferrari currently has this with charles. sauber had this with og kimi. hell even alpine had this in their renault days with fernando! mercedes on the other hand? let's talk.
mercedes' main star for so long has been lewis, who entered the team already a world champion with mclaren [and is therefore mclaren's third "golden rookie"]. whose other drivers, due to the mercedes revival only being 12 years old, were already well established at other teams: michael, nico, and valtteri. toto feels that mercedes cannot yet claim they found a "golden rookie" and took a risk on them like other top teams have. also lewis has definitely said multiple times that he was convinced to join mercedes not by toto, but by niki. so toto can't even claim that.
weirdly enough i think george, with his early affiliation to the mercedes junior program, could've easily been the "golden rookie". however, as many people point out, that extra year in williams may have hurt george in the long run and made toto look too risk-adverse. now contrast this with horner who took the "brave risk" of promoting max to red bull after only a little over a year in f1...that luckily paid off for him.
also keep in mind that this is actually the second time (or arguably third if you count pascal) that toto took the less risky option as back in 2017 and 2018 there was a lot of conversation about esteban being promoted to mercedes with toto ultimately deciding he was too young and sticking with valtteri.
this is more of an elaboration to the above points than its own separate thing but another critique that toto often gets is that he only inherited a successful team (brawn) instead of building one from the ground up like christian horner did with red bull. i personally think there's skill to be found in maintaining a team's success during a major regulation change but this is clearly a sore spot for toto.
[sidenote the way toto has been lamenting over this would have you think that he immediately flopped once he took over mercedes...instead of winning the wdc and wcc for 8 years straight because of the decisions he made...]
anyways even though i'm far more of a lewis fan than i am a george fan (not a george anti though!) and do think that toto has been disrespectful at times with lewis' exit, i do think there has also been a lot of mishandling with george's career and i do think he has also been disrespected somewhat with this current situation. and while i don't think kimi will immediately match the expectations that have been placed upon him (because the expectations in question for kimi are literally being god), i don't think it'll be a complete disaster. i just hope that mercedes will actually support their drivers when they can't meet these expectations because the car continues to suck. unfortunately as i literally just explained, i do not have any faith that mercedes will do that.
i agree with merc's driver management anon tbh. i don't even like george and i feel for him a tiny bit here because. let's see.. (bear with me i love bullet lists)
he signs with merc in 2021 when the car was good, and also when it looked like lewis would win the wdc and probably retire. at most he'd stay maybe one or two more years.
neither of these things happen. the car sucks. lewis stays because he's hungrier than ever for the 8th.
that first year, everyone hypes george up a lot. he even gets a win. people talk at length about how george is so much better than lewis but no one takes the extensive experimentation into account.
2023. car still sucks. george does a lie detector and says with his entire chest that he's faster than lewis. spends the year getting soundly beat by him. things at merc seem to be breaking down. george goes into a wall at singapore and the way merc acted you'd think the end of times was nigh. this mistake doesn't do well for his reputation as a driver.
2024. lewis is moving to ferrari. george probably thinks ok, he can finally be the priority in the team. he can be the number 1 driver, the face of the team.
let's take a moment to talk about the rookies who came up with him. lando at mclaren, number 1 driver, who finally got his win this year after a long time of working hard for it. actually quite good at playing the team game. alex, who struggled at rbr but is doing well at williams. they love him so much they fucked over logan for him. he's a solid driver and while he doesn't have any wins yet, his skills are undeniable.
ok back. 2024. mainstream fans on social media have been displeased with george since at least qatar 23 if not earlier: it seems to be hitting critical mass this year. almost all of merc's social media posts, as well as f1 and espn's, are filled with comments about george buckling under pressure, not being as good as he thinks he is, and definitely not being a good teammate. on top of that his boss is trying to offer a metric fuckton of money to get max verstappen into the seat. plays around with the idea of fernando alonso until alonso goes like "lmao girl in THAT wheelbarrow?" and even bringing seb back from retirement. neither of these three are known for sitting quietly and following team orders and would probably laugh george out of the room at the suggestion that he be prioritized over them.
and then there's kimi antonelli. this ask is long enough so i won't go into detail over my feelings on that but at this point, george, who was desperate to be number 1, is watching his boss talk up a child who should be doing Intro to Calculus, while everyone calls him the next hamilton or verstappen.
and no one knows where george is in all this, including george himself. chances are though that he has not been impressive enough to be considered a leader or number 1 by anyone and merc aren't even pretending he might be. they're looking to replace lewis not just as a driver but as a leader and that has got to hurt for george.
*mic drop* 🎤
No but really I had forgotten about Alonso and Seb too like. No wait. Let me sit up for this.
The amount of DISRESPECT George has had to deal with is astounding. And it's coming from all sides. Fans, management, drivers. You can't help but empathise.
He's also so very unlucky! Every time you'd think things are looking up for him F1 throws him a curveball.
I wonder how he deals with this. That might explain some of what some fans perceive as undue confidence / audacity. Like what else are you gonna do in his situation but wall up and assert yourself the best you can, when your worth as a driver is constantly being questioned.

Okay, so this post will talk about Lance but I will also give my opinion on the Lando situation since I think it is important.
First off, I think it says a lot about Lando that he made an apology. Now, be it because of the backlash he faced, because he actually saw the harm he was causing or because he genuinely regrets it, that is something I don't know. What I do know is that by apologising for it, he acknowledges that his behaviour was wrong and that is really important because it shows that he reflected on himself.
While I do still feel irked by something about the message, be it that he isn't naming Lance or Lewis who he both targeted with his actions in different ways and apologise to them directly which he might have done in person, so I am not able to judge it or be it the weird sorry at the end, I can put aside my feelings and say that this was the right thing to do and is also setting an example for his fans who were one of my main issues with all of this. They then know that saying that was not right and might learn from it themselves.
But this post isn't about Lando. This post is about Lance.
As most of you might have heard, Lance was really affected by what happened on track. He can clearly see that he is anxious and uncomfortable in his post race interview and what happened afterwards tells the story (I don't really want to talk about it because this is something private that he did not share and it is like with the story on Twitter something that was shared by other people who he didn't give the right to share it too so I don't want to spread it any further.)
This is who Lance is.
Someone who is sensitive and takes a lot of things personally.
You want to know why? Because he has, as a person, always been blamed for his dad's wealth. As if he choose to grow up with a billionaire dad. As if he is somehow responsible for it.
And he has always been painted out as someone undeserving, someone that doesn't have talent and totally owns his position to the money of his dad.
Now, let me just give you some data because I want to totally discredit this made up stuff with no roots.
In 2015, he won the Toyota Racing Series. He won by a bit over 100 points. The second finisher was his teammate. You might now some of the other drivers who competed in this series for example one Callum Iliot or Artjom Markelow.
Or in 2016,his first season in Formula 3, he finished fifth. The winner of that year was Felix Rosenquvist (a great driver) who was also Lance teammate and had only one DNF in comparison to Lance 5 and a DSQ. Now, there are two other drivers, one that was the runner up in Antonio Giovinazzi and a fourth who was Charles Leclerc. Pretty competitive field if you ask me and to finish 5th as a rookie,is impressive.
Now, fast forward a year to when he won the F3 championship. He won over his teammate by a margin of over 150 points which is so impressive, even with the two more DNFs his teammate, Maximilian Günther (another great driver) had that is quiet a lot.
Now, if you really want to use the argument that he skipped F2 against him, there is another driver you should be discrediting just as much. You guessed it, M*x V*rstappen. He also went straight into F1 which was a definite mistake but nobody ever likes to say that. I would also like you to remember that Lance did not drive for F1 as a regular driver immediately after he won the championship, no in 2016 he was a test driver, so he could slowly get used to F1. (This is not official but I would guess it's the thought process behind him being a test driver.)
Now, in 2017, his first F1 season, he was teammates of Felipe Massa. Might have heard of him, lost his championship to Lewis by one point, was teammate of Micheal Schumacher and a generally way more experienced driver. Yeah, you wanna know what the difference between him and Lance was in Lance first season? 3 points. And Lance had 2 more DNFs. You know what else he got in his first season? His first podium. In his first season, he became one of the youngest people to ever achieve a podium. With just 7 rounds into his first F1 season, in an okay midfield car with a way more experienced and older driver he was up against, he achieved a podium. And during the entire course of the season, that would remain the only podium for the Williams team that year.
Now, onto 2018. Williams was not as bad as in 2019 but they were still nowhere in terms of pace and he still didn't finish last in the championship (but I don't think we can count this season.)
In 2019, Checo became his teammate. And Checo in my opinion is one of the best midfield drivers, so there was already a lot he had to go up against and he was still so young and had less experience. There is a 30 point difference between them. Make of that what you want but for me, sure it was not Lance greatest season but now you have to think if Racing Point where really that good go be the fifth best car or if maybe, Checo just got more out of the car with his experience and talent. And than, you have to consider that he was still young and only had one season where he was truly competitive (that 2018 Williams was not something you could truly challenge anyone with.) And to then be up to one of the best midfield drivers who is widely appreciated and adored by the paddock, is a lot. Maybe for some of you it was too big of a gap which is alright.
However, don't dismiss his talent. He has had a good junior career and was up to some of the drivers you love and call talented, he even beat some of your faves. Maybe you don't see him as the next great driver but he is not a bad one and truly deserves a seat if you consider his achievements. Maybe he could have proven himself more if he had a season in F2 which is fair but that doesn't take away from anything he has achieved.
And even if you don't see him as talented, that gives you no right to bully him online. He can't change who his dad is.
Now,onto the money. I see a lot of people saying that he is only in F1 because of the money (which I hope you have by now realized is not the case.) But really, let's talk about the money.
Money is something that sadly plays a big role in F1. F1 is above all still a business. And businesses want money. So, why not take someone who has money and talent like Lance? Where are you all saying Michael only got his seat because of money (he is a pay-driver after all or at least he was one when he came to F1.) And now let's talk about his move to Racing Point. Can you truly blame Lawrence for wanting to make his sons dream come true? Wouldn't any father if they had the resources do this? Wouldn't any father want to fufill his son's dream, even if it might be seen as unethical by some or criticized? Would you really care if you saw how happy your kid was? Would you really care if you saw the glow you kid had? I don't think so.
I already said it but he was at Williams before he was at RP. His dad doesn't own that team or have any chairs in it.
Let's forget his profession for a second. Let's say you don't find him talented as a driver or just don't like him, fine. You are entitled to your opinion and sometimes we just don't like people, it happens.
What else would you have against him?
He doesn't post on social media often because people already bully him enough for his family. There is basically nothing you can dislike about him there.
And as a person? He is quiet and basically does nothing to anger people. He is literally just a normal dude. He goes on trips with his friends, he does sports to stay in shape and watches sports. He is not even posting personal stuff because he doesn't want to give people more room to bully him.
If you saw him on the street, would you think he is from a rich family? He does not look like it at all, he looks like that guy from your local sport who is literally just a college student trying to get through life.
And not only was he discredited for all his accomplishments because of something he had no control over but he also saw another driver proudly display a symbol that has been used by people who killed people who belonged to his religion. He saw a driver weat that symbol in cooperation with a company whose boos seems to be a Neo Nazi.
Lance has had to go through to so much shit just because his dad was rich (which Nicky's and Lando's also are, yes I know it's less but it's still more than any of us will probably ever have.)
This boy does nothing wrong.
Did he make a mistake with the maneuvers on Lando? Yes. But he is still so young and also new to F1, he can still learn and is growing as a person and driver. He is expected to perform more just so he proves his worth which he already has because people discredit him for having a rich dad.
Have you seen what he has done this season? He would be in the top 5 had it not been for the last races where none of the DNFs where his fault. Neither was getting Covid or being ill but people literally made fun of him for being in pain, saying stuff like "Did Daddies boy have a little stomach ache?" Yeah, because F1 drivers aren't trainex to perform no matter what, aren't putting their health last when it comes to these things and might have to be really bad if they can't drive and are not even going out of their room.
He has improved so much, he is not blaming other drivers even if they clearly hit him (see Charles) and he stays calm. Because he can't afford to be to emotional since some people would hate him for rightfully calling out others mistakes and just maybe saying that their faves are not flawless and make mistakes (like Charles.)
He has to act a certain way or be a certain way because what would happen if he just showed more of his personality? You call him dull, boring but you don't even try to get to know him. You don't even look up videos where he is more open and comfortable.
He is awkward infront of the press because he has to fear to be discredited or to be questioned about his worth every second.
And all of this pressure, this mask and this pretend eventhough he is just as human as the rest of us. And you see how hard it is, how much he questions himself, how his self-doubt increases and ultimately what happened has happened.
Because while it is just an easy insult for you that you can post anonymously online, it is one of thousands for him.
And you know, he didn't grew up in Europe. Sure he competed with some of the European drivers later one but he didn't have any of them when he started racing and he might already have been an outcast because people would already have seen him as different since his family didn't need to make sacrifices to get him to wear he is now. At least not financially ones. And then, when he came to Europe there were these already formed friend groups and it wasn't easy to get into them. The only friend he had was Esteban and I am so glad. This seems like such an unlikely friendship because they are from totally different backgrounds but that might have been what connected them in the first place. So, with basically only Esteban who liked him from the competitive times, it must have been pretty bad (not to say that the others hated him but I don't think they really cared for him.) I am so glad to see that he now also has Checo and that they get along and I hope that stays this way eventhough all of what has happened (which is also not his fault and I am sure that if he had any say in it, it would have been done differently.) Maybe we can even see their friendship when Checo stays on the grid. And with the potential of Seb next year, that might be the only other friendship or friendly connection he might form.
He is so strong for having to endure the dislike of so many people and he is still so kind and so sweet.
This has been a long post but one that I have wanted to make for a long time. If you got this far, I applaude you.

my fam watches holby so, it’s gonna be on the tv whether i watch it or not. also there are a few characters i still like (though frankly, is it just kian? maybe). but yesterday when the show was taken off for football i felt a kind of relief. it just doesn’t make me happy to feel anxious over a fucking tv show.
i think a lot of it is due to cam’s storyline. idk if holby is doing it on purpose or if i’m the right person to talk about this. but this is what i was thinking today: it’s so anxiety inducing to see him getting away with hurting so many people like across the board and it’s always a select amount of people (you know who).
here is a list of people he’s hurt/is going after etc so far:
xav (poc, gaslighted/murdered)
donna (f, poc gaslighted/manipulated in time of grief)
jason (autistic, subordinate job title. manipulated/gaslighted)
nicky (f, poc manipulated/glaslighted/isolated/financial abuse(?))
kian (poc, tried to make a complaint in revenge)
chloe (f, ab*se/r*pe victim and with history of self h*rm, manipulated (inc in the aftermath of r*pe), lied to, gaslighted)
sklyar (f, undiagnosed mental health issues/depression?, subordinate job title. gaslighted, blamed for his mistake)
jeongsoo (poc, subordinate job title. is suspicious of cam and therefore in danger)
ange (f, higher job title. blamed for his deliberate violence against patient)
louis (trans m, poc. again, blamed for his deliberate violence and manipulated)
patient he murdered a few weeks ago whose name i can’t remember ( sorry)! but who was poc
evan (white male, r*pist. i hesitate to include this one because honestly who gives a shit about him but.)
people who have sussed cam out:
john barrowman
like obviously that last one isn’t true exactly. we know ange doesn’t like cam, chloe suspects him, jeongsoo suspects him and of course xav had him totally found out. but i think that whether directly or indirectly, his harm with the exception of evan, centers soley on women, poc and the one explicitly autistic character on the show. i honestly can’t tell whether this is just a product of who is working on those wards at any given time but. it seems to me that people are being purposely moved to aau to get them into cam’s orbit, then once he’s hurt them, they move on and vice versa. (donna has now moved to keller, chloe is usually on darwin but is forced to aau when cam wants to hurt her, the f1′s started on darwin but conveniently rotated to auu to put them in cam’s sights, etc etc) also there’s a new famele nurse who’s introduction seems already focused on cam
idk man. im not poc so maybe i’m not the person to talk about this but. it puts a bad taste in my mouth because it’s almost always him going after people who are less likely to believed. and ok, ok, it’s fictional. he’s a villain, of course he has to do villainous things. but over such an extended period of time? the only people above him he’s gone after were chloe (at the time), kian and ange and like. again. less likely to believed as woman and poc. it just feels like they’re choosing these people to prolong the story. i know they don’t have many stories during covid but this is just so depressing at this point that i don’t want to watch it anymore.
Also sidenote: i would love for someone, anyone, to take him down. but a lot of people - myself included! - can be guilty of wishing it were their fave who does it. Jac, Hanssen or even Serena (though obvs two are not in the show now.) And im like. it can’t be them. it just can’t. it needs to be someone on the bloody list you know. we can’t have the most powerful white characters coming in to save the day when they haven’t been effected by what he’s done the same way the others have. this is just my opinion and im not trying to like, categorize according to what subgroups someone fits in or comparing their traumas im just saying......why don’t we automatically wish for it to be donna or nicky or someone?
EDIT: i am of course aware that Hanssen and Jac both present as being autistic and suffer from depression and mental health issues, jac is an abuse victim and of course hanssen is jewish. and of course, serena is lgbtq. i’m not trying to ignore that but even with these stories they are considered fan favourites and also have some of the highest positions in the hospital. this is why i think to have them come in and fix the issues would be a disservice to cam’s victims. im sorry if i haven’t phrased this post right or if i’ve dismissed something within the story thats important. mostly im just trying to get across how traumatizing im finding cam’s storyline.

Dear Mr. Mark Webber- Max Verstappen Doesn’t Have To Be Lewis Hamilton!
Does Max Verstappen have to be Lewis Hamilton? What a random statement, right? The way it seems, Mark Webber is popular as Aussie Grit. It’s a sobriquet he earned, never asked for. When the famous driver from Queanbeyan was an active FORMULA 1 driver, there was one thing that did set him apart from the rest, not to mention, that ability to focus on the race and just race alone.
He’d talk less and perform more on the grid. But, hey wait! Did that make Mark Webber a world champion?
Hardly.
Despite competing in the highest annals of Motor Racing for over a decade driving for no fewer than six consecutive seasons with Red Bull, the former FORMULA 1 driver didn’t exactly come agonisingly close- or did he- to a world title.
Well, unless one’s determined to count his 242 points (with Red Bull) in 2011 to that seaon’s world champion Vettel’s 256 (also with Red Bull) an incredibly close margin- but would you?
Yet, Webber- nine wins, make no mistake- has made a headline recently, one that seems to offer a glimpse at what becomes of former FORMULA 1 drivers when they are either too idle or not in the tune with reality.
Has Mark Webber caused me harm. Heck, no! He surely has better things to do in life such as exchanging pleasantries with the Australian Men’s cricket team’s coach Justin Langer about Martial Arts.
Both Aussies, it’s common knowledge, are gifted in the same incredible art where Jean Claude Van Damme has made some very retired movies (with all due respect to the great Muscles from Brussels).
But Mr. Webber when you say that a Max Verstappen and I quote you here, “Is he (Verstappen) already Lewis on Sunday? No, he is not,” what do you even mean?
This precisely leads me to a question whose time has come, if only after 250 words:
Does Max Verstappen have to be Lewis Hamilton?
If so, what’s Lewis Hamilton doing then? Imagine what good grief might two Lewis Hamilton’s cause the very grid where tackling one is hard enough? In 2020 alone, Hamilton won ten races.
Surely, you didn’t mean Max to become Lewis, but obviously, right? On the contrary, you were actually alluding to the lack of consistency shown by Max Verstappen- the youngest pole-sitter aged 17 years, 166 days- when compared to Lewis Hamilton.
Fair enough.
But ever wondered about that thing called race-craft, sir? Does that not carry the DNA of one’s psyche or that thing called mental make-up?
Truth be told, the moment I’d say “we are all different and hence our different levels of performances,” you’d either go off to sleep or slap me. Wait actually, you’d reserve that for ‘Ubermensch’ Seb (Malaysia, 2013).
Such a cliche!
But it doesn’t require one Einstein-esque grey matter to note that no FORMULA 1 driver is the same. On race day, things happen. It’s a combination of various factors- but obviously- one of which is the way a driver competes, rather to put it succinctly, “attacks!”
Your suggestion that Max Verstappen is not on the same level as Lewis Hamilton, a seven time world champion, a driver twelve years his senior isn’t bigoted but is incredibly lame.
For starters, Lewis Hamilton has no match.
The only one who came close to Lewis Hamilton is the driver whom record Stevenage’s great son recently drew level with. In Germany, they consider him Das Beste or the best, everywhere else, he’s still considered the King!
Purely on race entries, Hamilton’s beaten more drivers than Max Verstappen has probably competed online with. And trust me, I have no idea whether Lando’s done more E racing or Charles.
Truth still is, the comparison that you ended up making- albeit only when asked- reads:
Lewis Hamilton: 266 race entries, 95 wins, 98 poles, 165 podiums, Seven World Titles
Max Verstappen: 119 entries, 10 wins, 42 podiums, 0 world titles.
The above includes nothing on these driver’s personalities, that important arsenal that ultimately plays a key role in winning and losing races.
Should you wish this Motorsport fan recount it for you, this remember is someone who’s been as many times inside an F1 car as you’ve won world titles, I’d love to draw your attention to:
Hamilton– focused, aggressive but doesn’t lose his sh*t, mighty consistent, ability to mentally seize up the opponent (we’ve seen Rosberg, we are seeing how hard it is for Valtteri), aware of the advantages of the car and what his own experience brings.
Verstappen– resilient, rabid, super aggressive, consistent in quali (by your admission), aware of his talent and the fact that the machinery he’s been aligned with isn’t the same level as Mercedes.
That said, fair to remember when Lewis Hamilton entered the sport, Max Verstappen was ten.
Today, thirteen years since Lewis first unfurled ‘Hammertime’ by winning the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix, he’s found a competitor, who is, at least, trying to muster up a fight. Did Verstappen not win the final race of the year from pole, in the process of which he led every single lap?
And make no mistake Mr. Webber, this is what a certain Charles Leclerc was doing too in 2019: competing and pushing Lewis.
Fact is, if you got to beat Lewis Hamilton in his own game- and heck, he’s nearly owned FORMULA 1 by demonstrating mesmeric consistency- you’ll need not just the car but the experience and not to mention, the mind-set.
And that’s the key differentiator for me.
We are all hardwired differently which is why we respond to challenges differently.
2019 German Grand Prix, Sunday – Max Verstappen (image courtesy Red Bull Racing)
Hamilton is spurred by the innate desire to improve and get better each time he gets inside that car. It’s not that he’s not faced heat or been found wanting. But see how he reacts even when the odds go against his favour.
The 70th Anniversary Grand Prix- won by Verstappen eventually- saw Hamilton winning on three wheels. Did you see that?
That’s all it takes- not losing your composure and finding that positivity somehow. And speaking of not losing one’s cool, there’s also a certain Kimi Matias Raikkonen who kept his whilst many beside him were losing theirs at the Abu Dhabi GP 2012. You were in that race right sir?
Now Max Verstappen, on the other hand, responds differently to situations. In a seemingly Senna-esque fashion: be bold, brave and go for the chance if it’s there- Max takes his chance.
Call it age, call it irrational exuberance, but Max won’t relent. Just like he didn’t at the Turkish GP knowing well that pushing extra hard on getting past Bottas would compromise his tyres and see the outcome?
As a matter of fact, did Charles- vastly respected already- not push a bit too aggressively at Monza 2019? Who are the black and white flags waved for back when a young man beat Hamilton in his own game?
Max Verstappen or Charles Leclerc?
So my problem with drivers like you sir and no you haven’t borrowed a dime from me, in fact, I keenly await my salary for the month is this:
Why is Max Verstappen being compared to Hamilton when there’s little need?
Surely Albon’s priceless podiums in 2020 were brilliant news for a team that put its faith in a driver who isn’t considered all too great at the moment. But, who kept Red Bull in the fight?
Incidentally, who beat Valtteri Bottas driving a Red Bull when the Finn, usually hired to win, as they say (not that Raikkonen would care) was in a Mercedes?
We know how this has panned out in the past too whenever the subject of being in the same league as Lewis has arrived.
Nico- Brittany to some, world champion to many others- was the last guy to defeat the incredible Briton. But which other FORMULA 1 loose wheel nut has managed to keep his sanity in check ever since Nico packed his bags and left?
If Max is not on the same level as Hamilton- then so is every other driver who has the capability and perhaps competent machinery, if not the greatest package designed ever to overcome a Mercedes.
This year alone, there were more cars that nearly matched the RB 16- Racing Point’s RP 20 (second-hand Mercedes, shall we?), the MCL 35, and the RS 20 (or shall one say, the cause of Cyril Abiteboul’s possible upcoming tattoo)- than there are wins in your entire career.
That you don’t get it probably explains why you are making strange headlines nowadays unlike the fine stint with the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Why you should STOP dragging Daniel Ricciardo into unnecessary drama.
Ah shit, here we go again.
Yes, again, a-fucking-gain and today’s subject is “Daniel’s a dick cause he doesn’t speak about climate change/Australia being on fire”.
Okay, let’s do this step by step, cause y’all are really testing me and my poor braincells or, at least, those few working ones left.
You DO realise that simply speaking about an issue WON’T solve things, right? RIGHT? We all witnessed people worldwide protesting in the streets, trying to make their voice, OUR voice heard; trying to get the attention of the governments, hoping they would actually do something. And how did it end? Well, I’m sure you know the answer.
Sadly, simply speaking about it will raise the awareness on a hand, but won’t stop the fires from spreading across Oz on the other. And you DO realise that this matter already has massive media coverage all over the world, right? Even if Daniel took time to speak about it nothing would really change. What could he possibly do MORE than the news do? I saw someone suggesting he should start a gofundme, but c’mon guys, I know drama lovers like you too damn well not to know you would call him out for not donating himself since “he’s rich enough to do so”. Just say you hate him, really, it’s easier for you and for us fans too.
Did he perhaps tell you he doesn’t give a shit? Or that he isn’t donating a cent? NO, but I get it: it’s so easy to shit on someone, especially when you don’t like them, although you know NOTHING about them or what they’re doing.
Not speaking about an issue doesn’t equal not giving a single fuck. Seriously guys, it’s his home country, DO YOU REALLY THINK HE DOESN’T CARE? And just because you expect him to post something on social medias? Fuck’s sake... You’re all so obsessed by trying to get all the attention online that you think if someone doesn’t behave as obsessively as you do, then they’re a selfish piece of shit who don’t use their visibility and influence to talk about an important issue. Wake the fuck up, guys. Just because he doesn’t like to brag about something like YOU do, it doesn’t mean he’s not doing anything. According to your controversial statements, every other driver on the grid - except for Max - should be blamed for not rasing the awareness. But nooo, let’s portray Daniel as the bad guy just because it’s his home country! Yay! Genius!
Also, since I sadly witnessed - more than once - that us Ricciardo fans aren’t taken seriously, ‘cause yeah, we’re basically considered thirsty thots (funny and interesting how this doesn’t happen with Charles’ fans thirsting over him, Lewis’ and others, but okay, I guess I’ll go fuck myself then), I just wanted to make clear that defending him doesn’t mean being up his ass, as some gentle soul accused us of. We’re simply answering to delusional statements with logical facts.
I saw anons (you act tough and hide behind anonimity, wow) wishing his farm would burn down in order to “get him interested in the cause”. I’ve rarely saw people as rotten inside as these ones, but let me tell you something: you’re not any better, really.
And I think it’s hilarious that’s always the same account (whose credibility has been questioned more than once on other social medias by multiple f1 fans, not necessarily Daniel’s) starting drama over literally nothing and always about, surprise surprise, Daniel.
You’re really giving me, us, a hard time. Imagine being so immature, so childish NOT to acknowledge that you’re saying a shit ton of bullshit instead of admitting you’ve thrown a tantrum out of boredom. Imagine being so annoying that you had me to download this app just to call you out for once and - I hope - for all, because you didn’t reply to a message similar to this freaking post. What was the matter? Did you low key knew you were wrong the whole time once I faced you with facts? Were you ashamed to make public a post inviting you to get informed on what Daniel does out of genuine interest, such as being a member of The Inner Ninja Foundation (mental health and suicide prevention) or the Racing for MNDI? See? Just because he doesn’t BRAG about being a nice person, it doesn’t mean he isn’t. You can be a nice guy even without posting it on social medias just to say “Hey, look at me! I’m so generous!”. Yeah, you are but you’re low key doing it for some attention too.
It’s time for you guys to grow the fuck up, to stop starting unnecessary drama. We’re in a sport fandom, for fuck’s sake, not some boyband.
UPDATE: See? Y'all a bunch of stupid haters, stay PRESSED

If they want me (a fan) to talk about it, I’ll talk about it.
Outlander S4 PR has been doing so well until this (IMHO).
My take on some Q&A from Cait’s Parade article.
It’s 3AM where I am and there will be grammatical errors on this but I had to let it out.
Really lengthy, snark, rant ahead. You’ve been warned. ✌🏻😊 Feel free to pass if not your cup of tea. I mean, I probably wrote a bunch of woozy anyway. But this is my space and yeah, haha!
1. What’s with the title?
Tumblr media
Yeah, Sam’s name just had to be inserted somewhere here to make it clickable, sure. I don’t know if the motivation for “total opposite” was to show “how different Sam and Cait are” or “how Sam and Cait will never be” - but all I know is...opposites attract. If it meant to hurt shippers, well, were just getting started here.
But seriously - If I get a chance to chat with Caitriona Balfe about season 4 scoop, I’d prefer that instead of talking about fans and using the name of her supposed platonic co-star to speculate some clickbait on the article. If the latter was the goal, they probably succeeded a bit cause here am I writing this loooong post.
2. A great mystery - Who is Maestro?
Tumblr media
First of all, Caitriona is NOT newly engaged - ITS ALMOST BEEN A YEAR. Second, I am yet again confused as to the nationality and job of the great maestro. I asked this once in my blog and an anon came through with a thorough explanation of Maestro’s “history” but I guess I’ll just go back to “NEVER being sure who he really is” again.
3. Oh, I grew up watching car races and now I’m in a racing movie!
Tumblr media
I get the PR - Cait grew up watching car racing and now she’s in a car racing movie, what a way to come round full circle.
But I’ve read a couple of articles from Cait about her life in Ireland before and never have I seen before that she’s mentioned that watching car races was part of their family tradition holidays up until now. (or is there? I may be wrong. I’m not sure, could be. Some other people can share it, if there is) But nonetheless, true or not, it works well with the PR.
Also, Cait, I know a guy (Sam) who goes and watches F1 races from the paddocks. Why don’t you guys drop by sometime and you know, watch together? *wink wink* It’ll be good for research and stuff. Not to mention going out with one of your best mate, am I right? ✌🏻
4. I spend the weekends by myself - as shown in the way this statement is filled with singular pronouns
Tumblr media
She drags herself alone to go out for some food, She reads alone, she walks alone, she prepares her own food and putters around the house. (I am my own, independent person regardless of my soon-to-be hitched” status)
Okay, the way I see this - she really doesn’t want to be defined who she’s in a relationship with or who she’s engaged with. Look how independent the statement above is. I get it - she wants to be known more as “an actress” and not as an “engaged and extremely in love with my fiancé actress”.
Basically it kinda says “sometimes forget I’m engaged at all except when Sam and I are being too touchy-feely with each other.”
But seriously, Cait, not screaming/vibing engaged here! Meaning saying his actual name and weaving your relationship in the public face, inviting him to pose with you in red carpets and events despite his “shy” stature, etc. Erm, maybe just don’t be engaged at all and don’t get married yet - I didn’t say break it up or anything, just straighten the confusing narrative first?
5. I am not exactly like Claire but Sam, my co-star only, will be the first one to disagree.
Tumblr media
Why do I feel like “and the other people who know me very well” line got added after a pause cause Sam got mentioned and she cannot mention only Sam because fans will suspect. Hahaha! (And suspect we well cause isn’t that the purpose of this article?)
Also, but why not “Tony, my fiance, will be first to disagree because he knows me so well” rather than her “were super platonic only” co-star?
Oh, cause of the narrative.
Which narrative again? I am getting confused now.
Oh, the one where Sam Heughan is just her friend who loves her and knows her so well.
Great.
6. SINCE SAM GOT MENTIONED THE QUESTION BEFORE ITS ONLY NATURAL WE TALK ABOUT HIM...
Tumblr media
OMG, my English grammar mind is like screaching those dangling modifiers. “Sam Heughan, who plays your soul mate...” HAHAHAHAHA! That’s the first thing that I noticed. Second, the question would be much clearer if phrased “Are you good friends with Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, your character’s soul mate?” - SEE  sentence construction HERE, we would be talking about the show and its characters and not see anything else. But then, this is just me.
Also, why ask Cait if she’s good friends with Sam? Of course she is! (and I truly believe this regardless of whatever situation they chose). Other wise, if she says “no”, just imagine the PR nightmare it would entail. The repercussions, the bad PR from tabloids how the two leads “don’t get along”, the possibility of not getting renewed after season 6, a lot of bad will follow if she said the wrong answer. Hahahaha! Either this or the writer (don't know his history with OL) is super new to the fandom who don’t have an idea just how close Sam and Cait are.
Oh goody, we get the Hyde Park walk mentioned again! I always love this memory of theirs.
Comment on Paragraph 1: Why do I feel like Cait got caught off guard rehashing this story. The answer, if verbatim, is so jumpy and incoherent. Like I could summarise the story in shorter sentences. Eitherway, I’ve always loved that they spent the time together at the beginning and realised just how much of a relationship they were going to have. Also, the line” Who knows what this is going to be?” which they asked even before they started filming - so loaded the possibilities of the meaning of this simple question.
Comment on Paragraph 2: Shouldn’t it be maestro’s job to be her biggest supporter, the first person she calls to have talking to about stress? Also, love the “vice versa”. Sometimes, I can’t imagine Sam being the stressed one between the two of them but I just love their dynamic. OH AND THEY HAVE SIMILAR PERSONALITY TRAITS (where is the complete opposite part?! (*see next question*, here we go)
7. HOW TO DESCRIBE BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP 101
Tumblr media
Here it is....how opposite Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are that it’s impossible to think of them ever being in a relationship.
Cait is bullish and Sam calms her down before she gets too frustrated.
Sam is a little passive and Cait gives him a nudge and a strength to stand up for something.
OH WAIT
Erm, what you guys just described about each other is “being in a good, healthy relationship” - thanks, bye. Again...opposites attract. The statements just show that they’re both not as strong as one seem and really feed off strength from each other’s lives and company. Like, you know, being together or something to that effect.
Also, if you guys, Sam and Cait, are dropping the fake narrative soon, you know - Cait can nudge Sam to stand up for them and publicise their “real”  relationship and then when the reality of their “real score” being revealed gets too frustrated, Sam just can calm Cait down. It’s honestly, a win-win, guys.
8. ONTO THE “BEST FANS EVER”
Tumblr media
This question was actually fine until the follow up...
9. WAS ASKING THIS QUESTION FREAKING NECESSARY?
Tumblr media
I think I’ve mentioned this before but IF PR WANTS TO STAY AWAY FROM FANS TALKING ABOUT SAMCAIT, then they have to stop allowing these kind of questions. They could’ve asked the author to not include this question in the publishing because what is the freaking point. If the writer have done his research, he already knows the answer to this (heck we know from various and numeous sources). And if he knew the climate of the fandom, this should not have been asked published - yet again.  I’m sure Sam and Cait hate answering these questions because, lets admit it, it takes away some of the magic. But here it is and there again is their punchline and I’ve seen this same answer as before.
But Cait had to add something new: “But I think things are pretty clear now that I'm engaged to someone else. Everyone gets it now” HMMMMMMMMM...So was the purpose of the engagement to put off the stench and speculation that Sam and you aren’t together? That the main purpose was for all shippers to stop shipping you and Sam cause you’re engaged some someone else whose name you’ve yet to mention yourself in public or social media and your fans have no total idea who he is and what he does for a living?
Oh and uhh, Cait - NOT EVERYONE GETS IT NOW. If anything, were all the more confused. Also, regardless of what you guys do, you can never ever avoid the shipping (real or show) cause that’s just fanning is. Oh, and you’re not the first and only ship with OTP that have spouses. Seriously, you’re not the first nor the only experiencing this and the other fandoms have actually embraced this instead of trying so hard to shut it down.
9. REHASHING SEMI-FAMOUS FANDOM HISTORY
Tumblr media
Seriously.
If the author had done his/her research, these are semi-famous stories already from before and he could’ve asked about book 4 or season 4 or anything RECENT that would make sense why this article was even written in the first place.
I just think it’s a missed opportunity to ask something else, something new. Meh.
10. Cait’s Faves
Tumblr media
Maybe it should be Cait’s current fave things.
TSWDM as her favorite movie? I mean no offence to TSWDM but considering how deep her book choices are, I thought she’d choose a “deep, serious” movie as her favorite but choosing her “platonic” co-stars recent comedy flick as her choice (maybe in support of them having each other’s backs, you know) she chose that one - or maybe she really, really loved the movie too.
Race Car Documentaries - lets push the PR for her upcoming movie, yes!!
The Fiery Cross - EARLY PROMO FOR NEXT SEASON!!
Yeah, so I wouldn’t assume this is Cait’s “all-time” faves...
-
SO, WHY DID I DO THIS?!
BECAUSE I THOUGHT I’D FIND A POINT ABOUT THIS ARTCLE AND NOT SOME OBVIOUS HIDDEN AGENDA BEHIND IT?
WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE POINT OF THIS ARTICLE? WHY DID IT NOT TALK ABOUT OUTLANDER OR SEASON 4 AT ALL INSTEAD OF FANS AND NARRATIVES?
WHAT IS THIS PUBLICITY ALL ABOUT?
TO REITERATE THE “THEY’RE NOT TOGETHER” NARRATIVE CAUSE THE “SHE’S ENGAGED TO ANOTHER GUY” WASN’T ENOUGH OR DIDN’T WORK? TO PROVE JUST HOW WEIRD SOME CORNER OF THE FANDOM IS (as per the writing of this lengthy, rant post)
SERIOUSLY. I AM FLARING.
BECAUSE ALL THESE IS IRRELEVANT TO THE PROMOTION OF OUTLANDER SEASON 4 AND IT IRKS ME THAT THEY HAD OR TRYING TO PUT SHIPPER FANS IN, YET AGAIN, A BAD LIGHT, WHEN WE’RE TRYING TO STAY IN OUR LANE FOR MOST OF THE YEAR AND MAKING SENSE OF WHAT’S GOING ON.
IS THIS WHAT THEY WANTED? FANS TALKING AROUND HOW IRRELEVANT THESE THINGS ARE? OR SPECULATE HOW WEIRD OR AMBIGUOUS EACH ANSWER IS?!
Oh, Lordy.
COME ON, PR.
SELL YOUR SHOW.
NOT THE “NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP”.
NOT THE “BEST FANS EVER”.
NOT THE “DELUSIONAL” FANS WHO NOW FINALLY “GETS IT”. (cause, as per this article, we still don’t)
SELL YOUR SHOW AND WHAT IT’S ABOUT - JAMIE AND CLAIRE FRASER.
BECAUSE ALL I WANT IS OUTLANDER SEASON 4 COVERAGE.
TALK ABOUT CLAIRE AND JAMIE. TALK ABOUT BREE. TALK ABOUT THE BOOK. TALK ABOUT THE RIDGE. TALK ABOUT THEIR CHARACTER’S AND BOOK’S LIFE.
SUCH A WASTE OF SPACE AND TIME AND ALL FOR WHAT?
TO IRK SHIPPY FANS TO MORE EYE-ROLLING MOMENTS?
TO GET RID OF THE 20 SHIPPERS REMAINING?
CAUSE GUESS WHAT OUTLANDER/STARZ PR?
THE (RESPECTFUL) SHIPPING WILL NEVER STOP EVEN IF CAIT AND SAM ARE MARRIED - EITHER TO EACH OTHER OR OTHER PEOPLE.
THAT’S JUST HOW IT IS AND HOW ITS GOING TO BE CAUSE THAT IS FANDOM AND THAT IS SHIPPING.
SO, JUST FOCUS ON SELLING THE SHOW AND WHAT ITS REALLY ALL ABOUT.
JAMIE AND CLAIRE FRASER.
NOTHING MORE. NOTHING LESS.
Thanks.
*end of caps lock writing*
It’s 4AM and I’m going to sleep.
-
Updating this the following day after reading some comments and theories as to why this ever seen the light of day:
1. Could this be a follow up “aggressive shipper” article by EW?! A ploy put into place by Sony/Starz to, yet again, attack the “shipping” community?
IT COULD VERY WELL BE. WHY ELSE PUT UP THIS NONSENSE OF AN ARTICLE THAT DOESN’T PROMOTE THE SHOW ONE BIT.
Like to control shippers yet again after the love fest the past two weeks at cons? To control shippers after releasing S4 promo photos of Jamie and Claire?
I mean if they put this same effort in shutting “shippers” down to promoting their show, they might increase their ratings and subscribers!! UGH.
2. Could Caitriona be that Caitriona did NOT actually say some of the things said?
Possibly. I mean, now that I think about it, some statements were contradictory to what she’s said before and the language seems a little too forward that she usually is (e.g. “But I think it’s pretty clear now. I’m engaged now so everyone gets it”). Yeah, maybe it doesn’t feel like Cait saying this - cause I think she knows it’s NEVER clear but - yeah, could be. Could be that the this article was written deliberately to counter the “aggressive shipping” happening since the cons and using Cait’s “engagement” was their weapon of choice this time.

Ten things we learned from F1's 2021 British Grand Prix
Tumblr media
Formula 1, the British Grand Prix and a sold out Silverstone – it had the feeling of familiarity after the unknown and empty grandstands since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. But the 2021 British GP was anything but recognisable, starting on the Thursday with the first showing of a full-scale 2022 F1 car model and then a new weekend format which pivoted around the inaugural sprint qualifying race. It all resulted in a dramatic and controversial victory for Lewis Hamilton after his lap one collision with Max Verstappen which sent the F1 world championship leader into a 51G impact with the tyre barriers. Hamilton recovered from a 10-second time penalty for the incident to reel in shock leader Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and overtake him with just two laps to go – maximising his advantage with Verstappen out and cutting the deficit in the standings to eight points. While penalties and sportsmanship became the major post-race talking points, it created a race weekend jammed with action and memorable moments. Here are 10 things we learned from the 2021 British GP. 1. The first major clash of Hamilton vs Verstappen reveals true rivalry (By Alex Kalinauckas)
Tumblr media
Lewis Hamilton congratulates Max Verstappen after the Red Bull driver's sprint race victory Photo by: Steve Etherington / Motorsport Images It's easy to see why the Lewis Hamilton/Max Verstappen collision at Copse, which put the Red Bull driver out in a scary, high-speed accident, is being described as 'inevitable' – because, really, it was. They have already clashed once in 2021 – at Imola. Then there was Verstappen's divebomb in Spain, plus the ultra-on-the-line close racing between them between Abbey and the approach to Copse in both Silverstone races. But the reason why the grand prix clash ended as it did is precisely because of the championship situation Hamilton faces, as well as the fierce nature of both driver's on-track attitude. Hamilton came into the British GP 33 points down on Verstappen. This isn't 2017-2021, when the Mercedes driver could afford to take a 'big picture' championship-points-tally-consideration view in 50-50 moves. He has more to lose now if something goes wrong, vital ground in a title battle where he has a slower package, so simply cannot afford to give an inch. And that's Verstappen's attitude overall – just look at his reaction to Hamilton getting alongside at Abbey and Brooklands on Sunday. In the crash, Hamilton deserved a penalty for causing the incident, but it was still a fine call. Don't expect this to be the last flashpoint of the 2021 title fight. 2. F1's penalty system needs to be explained better (By Jonathan Noble)
Tumblr media
Lewis Hamilton had to sit stationary in his pitbox for 10s before his mechanics could service him Photo by: Steven Tee / Motorsport Images Red Bull's calls for Lewis Hamilton to be given a race ban for his part in the opening-lap crash with Max Verstappen were always going to fall on deaf ears. But you could fully understand its frustration that the 10-second penalty given to Lewis Hamilton for the clash ultimately cost the world champion nothing. Although it meant he had to fight a bit harder for the victory, he was still able to come home with the full 25 points. While that may seem unfair for Verstappen, who saw his title advantage slashed massively, F1 is quite right not to dish out penalties based on the consequences of offences. For doing it that way could open an even worse scenario where drivers get heavy sanctions for relatively minor rule breaches, but the book thrown at them when a tiny issue has big consequences. What perhaps is most lacking in F1 is actually a definition of driving rules and etiquette – so fans are better able to judge incidents based on the same criteria the stewards use. That would be hugely helpful in preventing the kind of polarised opinions that have engulfed social media in the last 24 hours. 3. A spirited sprint success, but the overall verdict remains to be decided (By James Newbold)
Tumblr media
Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing RB16B, Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes W12, Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes W12, Charles Leclerc, Ferrari SF21, and the rest of the field at the start Photo by: Steven Tee / Motorsport Images Until the ill-fated clash of the titans at Copse, the weekend's biggest talking point had been F1's inaugural sprint race (let's call it what it was, shall we?) which generated mixed reviews. From "weird" according to Sebastian Vettel) to "I loved it" from Charles Leclerc, just about everybody had their opinion. Many welcomed the added excitement it brought to Fridays and the engineering challenge of getting the set-up nailed in FP1, while others questioned the relevance of FP2 when the cars were in parc ferme conditions which meant evaluating tyres was the only feasible action. The 17-lap distance allowed for variation in tyre strategies which was seized upon by Fernando Alonso, whose star turn on the soft tyres undoubtedly enlivened the proceedings as the race for the top four proved pretty static after the opening lap. F1 now faces a decision over whether to continue its experiment beyond the two further (as yet unconfirmed) sprint events planned for this season and, if so, whether to make further tweaks. Series bosses are encouraged by initial feedback, and have an unspecified "job list" to work through, but can at least be pleased that the format shake-up achieved what it set out to in building anticipation throughout the weekend. 4. Two-day race weekends look realistic option to ease pressure on growing F1 calendar (JNob)
Tumblr media
Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes, waves to fans after securing pole Photo by: Andy Hone / Motorsport Images F1's first sprint race trial at the British Grand Prix can be viewed as an overall success. The boost in audience figures on Friday, plus increased interest for the Saturday 17-lap dash that provided a few spills and thrills, were exactly what F1 chiefs wanted. Sure there are some things that need improving – like the issue of Saturday's final free-practice being pretty much of no interest to fans on TV – but this is just a case of tidying up rather than starting from a clean sheet of paper. And, of course, the sooner the FIA goes back to awarding pole position in the history books to the fastest driver in Friday qualifying, rather than the winner of the sprint, the better things will be. But the success of the compressed format has also reopened the debate on whether F1 actually needs to stick at three-day weekends. Hamilton suggested a two-day schedule in the future would be the right way to go. It's something that F1 has baulked at in the past, and circuits would certainly not be happy at losing an extra day's ticket sales. But could it be something that proves preferable for some venues in exchange for holding one of F1's Grand Slam sprint weekends? 5. F1 at its best with packed crowds as Silverstone roars again (AK)
Tumblr media
Fans cheer from the grandstands Photo by: JEP / Motorsport Images Questions over the merits of letting a capacity crowd – that totalled 365,000 at Silverstone over the entire British GP weekend – gather during an ongoing pandemic should directed to the UK government, with the track itself understandably just trying to stay afloat in these awful times. But the fans in attendance were treated to an exceptional sporting event. Friday night qualifying produced two exceptional displays from British drivers in front their home fans, with the reaction to George Russell's Q3 lap the highlight for this writer given how the Williams racer was cheered from corner-to-corner. Then the sprint race delivered nicely in terms of an interesting race, even if it wasn't the all-out thriller some claimed. But it did set up a grand prix that fizzled spectacularly throughout – capped by the title rivals colliding and Leclerc nearly holding on for a famous against-the-odds victory. But there's an interesting footnote to Hamilton's victory. Motorsport.com was told there were plenty of new, younger fans seen at Silverstone – with an apparent increase in female spectators too. It will be interesting to see if this can be backed up in official data, but even anecdotally it suggests the 'Netflix effect', as well as Hamilton's laudable efforts to help diversify motorsport are having an impact. And what a race they were treated to, hopefully cementing lifelong motorsport fan status. 6. Leclerc demonstrates Ferrari's resurgence (By Jake Boxall-Legge)
Tumblr media
Charles Leclerc, Ferrari SF21, Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes W12 Photo by: Mark Sutton / Motorsport Images Leclerc was unbelievably close to a surprise victory at the British GP, but there wasn't quite enough in the tank to repel Hamilton's late assault for the lead. But Leclerc had been stellar, and his opportunistic move to clear Hamilton moments after the Verstappen incident rewarded him with the upper hand for the restart. His getaway from the pole spot and subsequent managing of the gap to Hamilton were incredibly well-judged and, despite facing engine cut-out issues while in the lead, Leclerc was able to weather the storm and find enough in reserve to keep Hamilton at bay. The seven-time champion's recovery post-penalty, however, was too much for Leclerc to resist and his slight wide moment at Copse was the only blot on the Monegasque's copybook. Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz Jr's recovery in the sprint and continued progress in the race also showed the pace of the Ferrari in the pack, although his ascent was halted by a slow pitstop. That dropped him behind Daniel Ricciardo, whose McLaren proved to be a tough cookie to overtake. Nonetheless, Ferrari has showed greatly improved form after a disastrous Paul Ricard race, and the upcoming Hungarian GP could be a race in which the Scuderia truly shines. 7. Perez suffers like those before him in Red Bull's second seat (By Haydn Cobb)
Tumblr media
Sergio Perez, Red Bull Racing, and Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing, on the grid, ahead of the 2022 Formula 1 car unveiling Photo by: Charles Coates / Motorsport Images Sergio Perez appeared to have the Red Bull support role nailed after picking up the pieces to win in Baku and then claim a deserved podium at the next race at Paul Ricard. But after being in the wars in Austria against McLaren's Lando Norris and Leclerc, Perez's performance in the British GP had shades of the struggles Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon endured before the Mexican came to Red Bull's rescue. It must be said it is down to fine margins, but qualifying behind Leclerc on Friday night set the wheels in motion for Perez's downward spiral. Trapped in the midfield battle at the start of the feisty sprint race, he was caught out by dirty air and spun off, to be condemned to the back of the grid for the main event. Despite Red Bull F1 car tweaks made in a bid to aid his retaliation in the grand prix, but also meaning a pitlane start, Perez was making progress until he got stuck in DRS trains and then got impatient and collided with Kimi Raikkonen. A P10 finish was as good as it was going to get until Red Bull sacrificed that solitary point to pit Perez for softs to take the fastest lap point away from Hamilton – even though finishing outside of the top 10 meant he wouldn't earn the point himself. Perez has slipped back to fifth place in the standings and is set to play 'who can be the best support driver' against Valtteri Bottas for the rest of the year. 8. Old dog Alonso makes the most of new tricks (HC) Fernando Alonso, Alpine A521, Lando Norris, McLaren MCL35M, and Sergio Perez, Red Bull Racing RB16B Photo by: Charles Coates / Motorsport Images Alonso demonstrated he's lost none of his racecraft with his stunning start to the sprint. The Alpine driver's charge from 11th to fifth was aided by his soft tyre gamble, but the TV onboard footage was reminiscent of the old Alonso - carving through the pack and finding gaps few others can. As his softs faded and left him seventh for the start of the main event, the double world champion held his nerve against an early attack from Vettel, before his old rival spun off on his inside at Woodcote, and went on to take seventh to extend his points-scoring run to a fifth race. The British GP marks Alonso's last race before his turns 40 and after a steady start to his F1 comeback, slowed by his pre-season training accident and adapting to his Alpine surroundings, he feels fresher and ready – a warning that the old dog has learned new tricks. "After the accident at the beginning of the year, in the first couple of races, there was still a part of the stress of coming back to the sport. I was concerned about the jaw, about the shoulder as well that I had the small injury with," Alonso said after the British GP. "But now, I'm super fit and I am 200%. "Next week is another number. So we'll eat some cake. But apart from that, it's going to be a very normal weekend. I feel 25. So whatever number it says in the passport it's not what I feel." 9. Williams progress clear but Russell is making the difference (JNew)
Tumblr media
George Russell, Williams, waves to fans from Parc Ferme after Qualifying Photo by: Andy Hone / Motorsport Images Hamilton's qualifying triumph on Friday stole the headlines, but one of the biggest cheers from the crowd was reserved for Russell's lap of honour in his one and only Q3 run. The Williams driver made the final segment of qualifying for the third race in a row with the eighth quickest time, raising questions over whether the FW43B should be considered a Q3 car henceforth. The team's head of vehicle performance Dave Robson reckoned it was "a little too early to say whether that's going to be something that's a regular occurrence", admitting he expected Williams would find it harder than in Austria but the "very calm conditions" on Friday evening played to the car's strengths. Despite the Hungaroring requiring a totally different set-up, Robson predicts "there's a good chance we'll be there or there abouts". But even if it's not, Russell can be counted on to make the difference. While his weekend went downhill after qualifying - a first-lap tangle in the sprint with Sainz resulted in a "harsh" three-place grid penalty for the grand prix that he couldn't recover from against cars that remain quicker in race-trim - Russell is in the form of his life right now. "I think there's an element for him of getting on that upward spiral," explained Robson. The question now is, how high can it go? 10. What the 2022 F1 show car hints at (JBL)
Tumblr media
The 2022 Formula 1 car launch event on the Silverstone grid Photo by: Charles Coates / Motorsport Images Although F1's vision for 2022 has been long defined after the unveiling of the all-new regulations (initially planned for 2021) back in 2019, the championship's promoters unveiled a full-size model of its interpretation of next year's chargers. Of course, it came with all the bells and whistles expected for next year: the low-slung nose directly attached to the front wing, the simplified bodywork and focus on ground-effect aerodynamics all featured on the car wrapped in a distinctive holographic livery. That being said, there were a few small differences between the physical model and the render, particularly around the front end; the nose tip sat in the middle of the leading front wing element, rather than protruding beyond them, hinting at the variation the teams can employ. Although F1 elected to pick a representation of next year's rules largely based on aesthetics, it can only be expected that the teams will take a more pragmatic view of the rules and might not necessarily stick to the spirit of them. There's a greater focus on prescribed designs and single-spec components to cut costs and develop the aero effect that F1 has studied and earmarked as the way forward for closer on-track racing, but those effects will surely be a little diluted when it comes to the actual range of cars next year. Regardless, it's an exciting new direction for F1; although some have questioned the necessity of the new rules as 2021 continues to intrigue us all, the British GP still showed the difficulties of racing within the current level of dirty air. The new rules should reduce that problem, should everything go to plan. By Alex Kalinauckas, Jonathan Noble, James Newbold, Jake Boxall-Legge and Haydn Cobb Read the full article

Formula Student Germany
TEIL 5
Actually, I should put this song in the beginning of FS East story too, but here is more suitable. :D
Formula Student Germany. I’ve never been there and I always heard that this is the greatest event in Europe.
So here we go.
In Czech, I saw info that we will live not in campsite near the Hockenheimring and there will live ALL teams))
I couldn’t imagine where organizers can host about 100 teams) but ok)
Group of my teammates with me was the first who came to the campsite it was a bit difficult to find the right place but we’ve coped with it)
When I’ve tried to talk with people that sat near the entrance they asked me if we are from England? :D but finally we could go through the entrance and there weren’t a lot of people. Only guys from DHBW Stuttgart already have started the party at their tents with different nice german songs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We were alone.. and had only 2 tents and 1 big inflatable mattress :D guys prepared it and from 1pm till ~ 8 pm we were 7 people with nothing. I and Mark have brought food to guys from Burger King (it was the only one place that worked at Sunday) ja,ja in Germany, everything is closed on Sundays.
Finally, we met our guys with the truck and started detruck. And there was really cold and I’ve decided to sleep in the truck))
the next morning was very good I didn’t feel my back :D But I slept in a warm place
because of at Sunday all shops were closed we didn't know what to eat breakfast... and girls immediately have felt instinct of mothers and we started to search for eggs, sugar, etc in campsite :D
My victims were guys from Greenteam I tried to explain to them what I needed I already spoke German (ein bisschen) but they did not understand what the “EI” I wanna from them: D Ok, Endlich we’ve got eggs from them
DANKEEEE GUYS one day I will return you eggs :]
Tumblr media
Btw, guys that drove to Hockenheim from Czech by bus had a problem with transfer to the final destination from Meinheim but guys from Fasttube helped to them. That was really nice and then we met Fasttube members in our camping very often :)
Tumblr media
If some of you still don’t know I am fan of Mercedes F1 team :P
And I was very happy to see again the silver arrow and make a picture but finally I have pictures with arrow only on my phone because of my teammate is very good person <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FSG was full of meetings with different people.
One evening my teammates have sent me to find someone who will help me to make an order on German eBay... and I was in Ka.race.ing t-shirt and asked people to help me with German eBay... it looked weird I guess :D
My good eyesight let me down and I accidentally approached a guy whose shirt from far away looked like a t-shirt of a Ka.race.ing and I was sure that this guy would help me, But it was the guy from Norway team but he agreed to help me and we tried to make an order. So we did it. And btw we didn’t receive it.
Hmmmmm....
our boys have found cornfield and brought to us corn and cooked it :D and also we made a trip to the nearest shop in Hockenheim and I liked this area too :)
Tumblr media
Static day was cold and full of activenesses I had to present cost report and right after that I presented team management report too but there was very cold I’m still wondered how we didn’t get cold :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was unfair: two men with one me therefore Oleg has helped me :D because of it’s difficult to use 2 CRD folders at the same time especially in dress... :D
Team’s photos I like very much. :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On FSG have come our alumni but also our sponsors and one day when one of our sponsors came later we couldn’t pass him on territory and one my friend from another team have helped us a lot. And we could pass our sponsor-alumni on event site :D
one of those who very much waited for me on the FSG was Volkswagen. On the picture below you will see why :D
Tumblr media
WELCOME LISA! <3 Where is my Tom? :)
One of the things that I enjoyed a lot - photobooth. I tried to make a picture with all my friends there
Guys from TU Team Delft one of them is Russian and it was very surprising for me when I talked to them in English and suddenly he started to speak Russian...) It’s unbelievable feeling when you meet someone close to you in another country <3 we were at FS East and FSG and it was always nice and funny conversations
btw these guys are finalists of all Business Plan events :)
Tumblr media
We had girls party with Porsche, VW, MAN etc and they gave us a lot of pink stuff and boys got jealous :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Endurance day.. wasn’t funny and it was very stressful... I had to stay in the pit with team’s radios and I watched endurance online and... the last lap of last driver, last half of lap I can`t believe my eyes. camera operators change the frame to another car on the track. And At this moment Whatsapp message from my friend “OH NOOOOO”
and next picture - our car without wheel... Verdammte Scheiße!
And after we are taking pictures with the car! Just the wheel nut loosened.. btw I’m sitting on that wheel!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Awards ceremony...
I’ve met Lewis Hamilton hahaha and it’s become the most popular photo in my Instagram :D
Tumblr media
I was cola drinking girl and it was ok for me :D, unfortunately, MAHLE party didn’t last long so we moved to the campsite.
Tumblr media
it’s time of Stoff und Schnaps song!
as usual, I decided to spend the last night with my friends from Karlsruhe) and my lovely friend that taught me sing this song told about it to other guys and they asked me to show them if I really can sing this song :D
and in that evening I’ve found a personal bodyguard :P he was with me from the moment when we drove from Mahle party with crazy Italians in bus and until the morning :D <3 but was very funny when I’ve stood with my friends in the middle of an empty camping and unexpectedly guys from my team break into our conversation and like "Liza are you ok?" :D but they were in the polo of other teams and no one except me understood that it was my teammates.
And finally, when my friend and I tried to take an OK photo it was like we weren’t somewhere except campsite :D AS ALWAYS
but it’s nice audi behind us :P
Tumblr media
Last day.. we had a transfer to Frankfurt from Heidelberg and our friends from FASTTUBE team helped us again... Ohhh. We have ended up in the very stressful situation with that guys but they were very cold and in the end, we got to Heidelberg in time.
it was very nice from the guy who was a driver of this minivan that he was nervous about us he talked with me and we tried to find the right parking place and... ahhhhh. I’m very thankful to this guy for his help.
When we’ve seen presumably our bus he parked right in front of this bus, so that bus could not leave the station.
but fortunately our bus was delayed by an hour :|
Tumblr media
What I would like to say..
That’s very good that despite political differences, relations between people have remained the same. And it doesn’t matter who are you russian, german, hungarian, indian etc...
The Formula Student unites.  The Formula Student is a one big family.
And only formula student guy on any your question can answer #BECAUSERACECAR
I’m very thankful to each of you <3 And miss you all so much!

today @blorbocedes-main and i discovered during this wip game that we are both entertaining a brocedes superpower au! in MINE most drivers have subtle psychic powers...lewis can see the future and nico can turn his emotions off at will (i don't really elaborate on this):
There are two kinds of futures, Lewis learns. Probable futures and certain futures. The only problem? You don’t know which is which.
If Lewis sees a crash ahead, he doesn’t know that it’s real until he’s reeling from the shock, already in the wall. Doesn’t know that it’s only a possibility until he weaves left and narrowly avoids a five-kart pileup.
So, Lewis learns, you can choose to change the future. But only sometimes. And then—is it even a choice at all?
-
Lewis watched Senna, the fastest man alive, on the television when he was eight years old. His dad sat on the couch, and Lewis sat on the carpet leaning back against his legs. He clutched his crash helmet, bright yellow, in his lap because he’d forgotten to put it away when he arrived back from the track.
The camera panned over the pitlane, mechanics spilling like insects from every garage, and landed on Senna. He was standing in the shade of his garage, head ducked down and speaking rapidly to the team boss. He was pointing to his helmet, gesturing passionately with one finger. Lewis wondered what he was saying.
He elbowed his dad in the calf. “Why does he have to wear that?” Lewis asked.
“Everyone has to,” his dad explained. “It’s the regulation.”
“No, the dampener. Senna can’t run in the car. How could he use his power to cheat?”
“They say he can think faster, too. The FIA doesn’t want to take any chances. You know how often the teams protest.”
Lewis crossed his arms, stared at the TV. Senna was tugging his race suit up his torso and fastening it at the neck. His helmet remained tucked under one arm.
“Well, he wins anyway,” Lewis said sulkily. “It’s not like there’s a point.”
His dad patted him on the head and then left his hand there, palm warm. “There are rules, sometimes, and you have to play by them,” Lewis’s dad said. “Otherwise, people complain.”
-
In the days of Senna and Prost and slim cars with open cockpits, the technology was in the helmet, some kind of rudimentary dampening field that wasn’t for the drivers or the mechanics to understand. Now it’s a millimeter-thick chip sewn into the collars of their race suits. It doesn’t feel like anything, really—Lewis just doesn’t get the visions. It’s better that way, actually. That way they don’t distract him. He doesn’t bleed tenths trying to figure out if they’re real. If they’re actually going to happen, or if they just might.
-
They keep track of whose turn it is to tell the story. Nico tells it best, because he’s the one who didn’t believe it.
“Did you ever picture this, the two of you in Formula 1, competing for race wins with the same team?” Jennie Gow asks them. She’s asked this question before, and she knows it, and Lewis and Nico know it, but it’s what the fans clamoring at the barriers want to hear.
“It’s funny,” Nico says. He talks animatedly in that voluble, media-pleasing way he’s mastered. “In between karting championships, we took a trip to Greece. I can still remember talking about it then, fourteen years old. Lewis and I said that one day we would both make it to F1 and drive for the best team on the grid.” He shrugs, and Lewis smiles, lips pressed together, for Jennie Gow’s camera. “How many kids can say that? That their dreams came true?”
Lewis remembers it too. Except it wasn’t a dream, it was a certainty.
-
The both of them were spread out on a towel on the cooling sand under the stars. The last vestiges of daylight were melting on the horizon, glimmering on the still water in a deep red spot.
Lewis saw it, staring at the sky, Nico’s hand clutched in his. It came to him softly, a truth slipped into his head, notching into place like something he’s always known. He had turned his head, feeling the sand against his cheek, and Nico had turned too.
“I’m gonna be in F1,” he told Nico.
Nico scrunched his nose. “I don’t believe you.”
“I saw it,” Lewis insisted, squeezing Nico’s palm.
“What about me, huh?” Nico said, turning his nose back to the sky. “Did you see me?”
Lewis didn’t do it, back then, still doesn’t, but it’s possible for him to look further. It’s like peeling back a heavy curtain, straining to keep it open wide enough that what needs to be seen can be seen. For Nico, he would try to peek.
On the beach, he squeezed his eyes shut and looked as hard as he could, until white spots flashed behind his eyes.
The danger of looking was always what Lewis saw when he looked too far. The Nico in his mind’s eye was older, mouth twisted underneath a black and gold cap. Lewis knew he shouldn’t look further.
“Well?” Nico said, poking him in the arm. “Do I make it too?”
Lewis opened his eyes. Nico was looking at him, again. “You do.”
Nico smiled, slowly, joy unfolding across his face. Lewis wanted to kiss him, but Nico had already declared he was all out of kisses, rolling off of Lewis at the end of the afternoon. “I still don’t believe you, you know. I don’t think I’ll believe it until it happens or it doesn’t.”
-
“He didn’t believe me,” Lewis says to Jennie Gow. The PR team says that the gap between his front teeth is marketable, so he smiles wide.
Nico pats him on the shoulder. “Still don’t. Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.”
-
Lewis kissed a girl for the first time in Greece. He remembers tasting a trace of Vaseline on her lips, faint like it had been mostly licked off. When he pulled away, she was smiling, and the sea-salty air tossed the dark ends of her hair around her face like a storm cloud. He pulled away from her face and held her in his arms.
Sometimes the future came to him clearly, like a page read from a book, and sometimes it hit him like a knee to the gut, invading his sense of sight and overlaying his vision double-exposure style. It happened like that, punching the breath from his lungs.
He was on the beach, but he was also on another beach. The girl was in his arms, but so was Nico. Nico was staring at him, eyes wide, but the girl was smiling still. The sun was setting, but it was also bright midday.
The vision faded like bath water spiralling down the drain.
“I’m sorry,” he said, sheepish like his dad taught him. His arms slipped from around the girl’s waist. She was still smiling, probably because she didn’t speak much English, didn’t understand the importance of what Lewis was trying to tell her. Lewis didn’t either, at the time.
Lewis turned away from the sea and ran down the coastline back to Keke’s boat, bare feet slapping the sand. He saw himself arriving before he was halfway there.
-
The day everything ends, Nico asks, “Be honest with me, for once.” He paces the cooldown room, agitated. “Did you really see me, on the beach? Tell the truth, Lewis.”
“I saw you,” Lewis says, twisting his fist around the neck of his water bottle.
Nico’s mouth twists, and he stalks over to the chairs and throws himself onto the cushion. Lewis knows, with an incurable certainty, what he would have seen if had looked any further, that night in Greece. He knows it’s coming before Nico throws it, but doesn’t move to catch the hat anyway.
Later, Nico confronts him about it again. He’ll push any issue, poke at any soft spot, these days. Lewis doesn’t know what he turned off, but it must be whatever made him human, before.
“You didn’t see me, did you?” Nico says, and he sounds hysterical. “You hate that I’m here, Lewis, don’t you, because you thought it was only going to be you. I fought to be here. You followed the fucking path you always do, already laid out, ten steps ahead of everyone else.”
“I saw you,” Lewis says, calm. I saw this, right now, he doesn’t say. “Get out of my trailer.”

Column: Celebrating Leclerc and honouring Bianchi
I write this, my first ever “guest blog” and third ever blog post, a day before F1’s 2019 chariots resume testing at the Circuit de Catalunya. As ever, there are more questions than answers after last week’s 4 days of testing- which of the team’s design departments have nailed the new for 2019 change of front wing regulations? Which power unit has gained the most horsepower and drivability whilst making the necessary gains in reliability to stay within the stringent allowance of only 3 units for the entire season? How will the various changes to driver line-ups, up and down the grid, affect the competitive order? This writer for one is hugely excited to see how these questions are answered over the next few months.
One of the main highlights of the first test was seeing Charles Leclerc pilot his first laps in Ferrari’s 2019 challenger (looking resplendent in it’s, new for 2019, matte finish livery). Seemingly on the pace immediately, Leclerc hardly put a foot wrong for the entirety of the test. However, running parallel to Charles’ thoroughly deserved promotion to the Ferrari squad, it is almost impossible not to imagine how different things could have been if, as expected prior to his fatal crash at the 2014 Suzuka Grand Prix, Jules Bianchi, had gone on to join Ferrari in 2015 or 2016. I am really not a huge fan of the “what could have been?” questions in F1, but the personal links between Charles and his sadly departed God-father Jules, are too profound to ignore; they grew up only a matter of a few kilometres apart along the French Riviera, learning the basics of driving at Bianchi’s Father, Phillipe’s go-kart track. Jules, 8 years Charles’ senior, was surely destined to go on and achieve great things in F1, having already miraculously dragged an uncompetitive Marussia into the points at his “home track” in the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix and seizing his opportunity in front line machinery with aplomb whilst replacing the then injured Kimi Raikkonen for Ferrari at a Silverstone tyre test in July 2014. Little did we know then that Jules had only a matter of months left of his then blooming race career, crashing horrifically into a recovery vehicle under yellow flags during the 2014 Suzuka Grand Prix. But we do have the pleasure of following another mild-mannered, passionate and enormously gifted driver along his quest to capture F1 glory. Charles Leclerc, like Jules, has had an enormously impressive rise through the Junior Formulae before then showing so impressively in his rookie season of Formula 1. But unlike Jules, Charles has achieved all of this whilst coming to terms with an immense personal loss. Further to the death of his God-father and mentor, Jules, in July of 2015- he then lost his father in June of 2017, four days prior to the feature race of the Baku Formula 2 weekend. How did Charles react to such tragic circumstances? He qualified on pole with over half a second to spare and then converted that pole position into a win. In terms of rising to the occasion, this shows demonstrably that we are witnessing the ascent of a quite extraordinary young man and driver. Clearly a very different character to the often-bullish Max Verstappen, Charles has shown both in and out of the car an emotional maturity far beyond his years. With an effusive and humble personality, Leclerc seems to combine his calm sense of self with what must be an incredible steely determination to overcome the almost impossible, such as winning a race merely days after losing one of his parents.
At last year’s Suzuka Grand Prix, talking after his first walk of the Suzuka track, Charles remarked that “I never came to Japan before. The track walk was quite emotional, but on the other hand, I really need to focus on this weekend to try to do the best job possible anyway. It’s obviously a very difficult weekend. Jules has helped me massively to arrive here, more than only on the racing side. He was a bit like part of the family.” How did he react to this emotionally charged event? He somehow managed to qualify his Sauber  11th. Sadly, a mechanical failure brought Leclerc’s race to a premature end, his team-mate’s finishing position of 12th suggesting a position in the points was well within Leclerc’s grasp. All the while his qualifying heroics had already spoken volumes on his determination, guts and talent at such a demanding and ruthless track.
Moving back to the present, how does Leclerc feel about filling the boots of his Ferrari destined mentor? In July of 2018, months before his move to Ferrari was announced, Leclerc humbly responded to a question regarding whether racing for Ferrari would be a good way of honouring Jules, “Yes, definitely. He will have probably deserved this place more than I do. If one day I have the chance to be there, I will try to do everything I possibly can to win the titles that he deserved to win.” Aged just 21, Leclerc is the youngest addition to the Ferrari driver roster since Ricardo Rodriguez competed for the Italian Marque at the 1961 Italian Grand Prix. After such a meteoric rise, the level of expectation on his young shoulders is palpable and so begs the question, how will he measure up to 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel? Separated by a very fine margin during the first test, it is widely accepted that Leclerc will give Vettel food for thought throughout 2019. The last time Vettel had a young, up and coming team-mate was when Ricciardo decisively out-performed him at Red Bull in 2014. Will history repeat itself in 2019? Charles’ ambitions for this season were left in no doubt as he reflected on his 1st test for Ferrari and challenging Sebastian Vettel; “I got used to it very quickly, I already feel quite at ease. The feeling is very good. It’s a car that is quite easy to drive…I can’t hide that I’m pushing to be as ready as possible for the first race, if Mattia has the problem to manage two quick drivers, then it’s a good sign for me.”
Considering how Charles has fought through emotional adversity and overcome the kinds of challenges that very few 21-year-olds face, alongside driving a Formula 1 car under intense pressure. Few would bet against him flourishing, unlike the many who have wilted, under the limelight at Ferrari. One can hardly think of a more fitting tribute to Jules Bianchi, whose death and memory is a tragic reminder that the very real danger of F1, despite the valiant efforts of the FIA, can never be fully diminished.
