it's so wild how body hair in art & media in general is seen as something "disgusting" or "weird", at first i thought that maybe the way i drew it made it look confusing but no way in hell you couldn't zoom in or just... think logically to know that is natural hair? some people are hairy like that! the way i draw it is more fluffy yes because i love floof and i dont give a shit tbh lol

i knew about the "issue" of jevil being fat so the body hair one threw me for a loop like wow. idk why jevil specifically gets this type of treatment, maybe other fat characters in utdr do too but i always see toriel, asgore, alphys, lancer, king, catti, sans who is a skeleton (and i really can't see him any other way, the fandom is doing a great job in keeping him chubby-like i love that) drawn with mostly correct proportions to in game/official art, yet jevil seems to get this mixed reaction. idk why i still see skinny jevil, or why some people insist his clown clothes are just "baggy". the jester is circular, look at his torso please for the love of god. sorry but i just want more fat rep as a fat person myself. i want jevil to remain short (his sprite is shorter than kris and slightly taller than spamton) and fat like he is in game!

drawing him helped me understand a lot about plus size anatomy, and honestly i couldn't be more happy about that because i'm also dealing a lot better with my body image issues and finally bringing more diversity to my art. him being hairy too is yet another thing that makes me happy as someone with pcos, and portraying him as a fat, hairy trans man as someone who is nonbinary and for months has been wanting to experiment with different pronouns/wondering how it would be like to transition is something really special. it's messy and silly but spamton and jevil are the ultimate comfort characters/ship to me, their stories and how they were written speak volumes and resonate with me a lot + headcanoning them as t4t has been beyond freeing and making me get a lot of gender euphoria/dysphoria/envy all at the same time lmfao what the fuck.

i'm honestly glad for these characters because they're what helped me articulate my recent feelings about my gender to my mother, who has grown a lot and is making an effort to understand all of this. the reaction i sometimes get from people who talk to me, come into my inbox or just pour their feelings out in the tags about how they love my portrayal of spamton and jevil's gender identity + their relationship and how important it is to them is so so cool. yeah :)

Great question!

Tag Sets on AO3 are a neat feature that allows you to build a preset group of tags that people can request or offer in an exchange. Here's an example of a small one for a recent xuanlimian exchange and another for a big multifandom exchange.

The nomination process is where you submit the tags you'd like to be available when the exchange signup opens. The form will look something like this:

The number and type of tags you are allowed to nominate will be different for each exchange.

So why use a tag set?

It helps ensure people will make requests and offers that can be matched! This is less of a problem with a single-fandom exchange like this one, but even within MDZS there are dozens of possible characters and even more possible ships — a tag set reduces the possibility that you request things no one thinks to offer (or vice versa) and can't be matched.

It lets people know what sorts of things other participants are interested in. Say you nominate the tags BAMF Wèi Yīng | Wèi Wúxiàn and Alternate Universe - Cyberpunk — you might inspire someone else to offer or request those tags when they sign up.

Tag sets let you nominate new or non-canonical tags that other people can use to write their requests and offers. The AO3 exchange form only accepts tags that are either canonical (wrangled) or part of a tagset. Tags like Dàfàn Mountain Tea Shop Owner or T4T Wangxian or Punk Rocker Wēn Níng | Wēn Qiónglín don't exist as wrangled tags in AO3, but if you nominate them to the tag set, anyone can use them in their exchange sign-up.

Fantasy and sci-fi settings are more than okay! The first piece in the first volume of Erato is a prose poem about polyamory on an alien planet. Also, over the past few days we've shared author interviews from another previous anthology that answer your question: Tiana Talaria's story in Cunning Linguists has some amazingly hot ship's AI/captain dirty talking, Louise Kane's "Welcome to evolWorld" is about sex and love in alternative reality, and Seb Palumbus's "I Ought to Be Thy Adam" is a romantic and electrically playful T4T retelling of one of the spec fic originals, Frankenstein.

Pre-existing settings: If you created them and hold copyright, definitely. If they're in the public domain, sure. We can't publish stories set in Middle Earth, Pern, the galaxy far far away of Star Wars, etc.

Non-human characters: Hopefully a clear yes from the answers above and from the fact that we point out in our guidelines that "sex robots" are a hard sell but "robots who have sex" is not (both Erato and Cunning Linguists have some hot stories about sex and romance with robots, as well as aliens, goblins, and other beings who are able to affirmatively consent).
