"Are you going to break my heart?"

Eddie almost drives them off the road.

It's late, nearly 2 am, and the country road is narrow and winding, and this thing between them, fingers twinned above the gear shift, radio turned down low, Stevie Nicks singing to them softly, is new. Eddie wants to live in this moment forever, wants the smell of lake water and dying August heat to live in their clothes, wants the warmth of first kisses and whispered confessions to last in tingling sparks in their skin, the memory of touch to be permanent. It won't be, it'll all fade, but Eddie can visit it again, rewrite them into the cotton and the softness of Steve's mouth.

It's late, and this is new.

"It's okay if you do," Steve says, so quiet. He's holding on to Eddie's hand like he's dangling off a cliff. "I can handle it. I'd just like a heads up, so I can prepare."

Eddie almost feels guilty, basking in his joy when Steve was sinking into something else. He thinks, if he were a kid still, if he hadn't died, hadn't lost everything and managed to get it all back, he'd be angry. But he's not. He's not, and he did, and it's late and this is new—but it's not unfamiliar. The same, but more, an extra free scoop with whipped cream and sprinkles, a cherry on top.

"You trust me?" Eddie asks. He rubs his thumb along Steve's knuckles, feels the scars under his skin, little tears in someone so perfect.

"Of course," Steve croaks. Eddie can't look at him, because the road is dark and narrow and winding, and he has to get his boy home safe.

"And I trust you," Eddie says, brings Steve's hand up, presses a kiss like a seal to his skin. "And I love you, and you love me. I got you."

Steve's quiet for a long, long moment. Eddie can tell he's watching him, so he presses another kiss to Steve's hand, lets his lips linger on hard tendons and dark veins. Kisses in his promises to the place they're linked together.

When he speaks again, it's soft, and Eddie can hear the love, living and leaving in the air between Steve's teeth.

"Okay," he says, giving Eddie everything. "You got me."

hi! how are we feeling after 7x04 bc I feel like I'm dreaming and I've been crying the whole day today, my bi heart is sooooo happy😭😭 I wasn't gonna start new wips until i finish the cheating fic, but I opened a new doc and things happened lol - idk what this is, where I'm going with this, or if I'm even gonna continue, I just wanted to peek into Buck's head for a moment haha

Oh. Oh. Oooh. So that’s- that’s what it was. Huh.

That’s the first thing going through his mind as Tommy kisses him. It’s like- it’s like a piece of the puzzle finally sliding into place, after years and years of searching, looking for something to fill that space with, that feeling of something being missing. It’s almost weird, really, how easy it feels, how he’s more relieved than freaked out. Because this- oh, this makes so much sense. He’s into guys. He’s been into guys. And right now, at this moment, he’s into Tommy. 

Holy shit, he’s into Tommy.

Buck’s mind has been a whirlwind of chaos and confusion and frustration for days, but now, when Tommy kisses him, it all silences. Just to start anew as they part, butterflies in his stomach so intense he feels like he might float, as a slow smile spreads across his face when Tommy pulls away. 

This is the part of himself he’s been looking for, he’s been denying himself, he’s been silencing for so long. He doesn’t know why now, why Tommy, what it all means and where it’s leading. But he knows that now he feels almost... complete, feels like himself, feels at ease. Feels like Buck.

He feels giddy when Tommy asks him out, and finds that as soon as the door closes behind him, Buck already can’t wait to see him again. Jesus, he has a crush. He’s a grown man in his thirties, just now finding out he’s into guys, and he has a goddamn crush on a guy, and that’s why he’s been acting like a teenager. It makes so much sense now, and Buck feels- well, he’s embarrassed because of his idiotic behavior, and guilty for maiming his best friend, but most of all he just feels relieved. Because he knows now, knows why he’s been so bent out of shape about this whole situation, and can put a name to those feelings.  It’s like a huge weight has been lifted off his chest, that he didn’t even know was there.

after watching hw2 and seeing that one game where you have to train the endos, it got me thinking Thoughts...

like, okay. imagine you were hired in the early early days of the pizzaplex. when sections of it were still in the final stages of being completed and polished up for the grand opening to the public. and your task was to help train the endoskeletons so that they were "people-friendly"—fazco's exact words. a bit strange, but whatever.

a simple enough job, relatively speaking. you weren't the only one assigned to the task, so that helped matters more. your first endoskeleton was to be the theatre bot.

now, you'd dealt with AI models before. but fazco's AI? it was on a whole other level... and not in the way you'd expected.

you nearly die on your first day.

you wanted to quit immediately after—their method of training was unorthodox at best and their endoskeletons were fucking insane. but you were contractually bound. so you had to keep going—fazco could ruin your life if you didn't. and if they were offering you some extra hush money... well, who were you to deny?

that didn't mean you had to like it, though. you were stuck between a rock and a hard place.

the theatre bot was strange in that it was three AIs combined into one endo. that meant you had thrice the amount of work to do. you spent many nights trapped in that odd room that looked like some kind of playroom, trying to teach the model how to label certain items without getting egregiously injured in the process.

but it was rewarding, seeing its progress. you couldn't help the pride you felt once you were finally able to insert its personality chip and train that as well. you'd gotten so used to the silence of the endo that the sudden loud boisterousness with which the bot surprised you with was quite the shock. at least its counterparts were quieter.

they still had quite a bit to learn in terms of their duties and how to interact with humans. you taught them, patiently and meticulously. they were… fun, honestly. eager and willing to be their best and make shows entertaining for the kids.

before you knew it, you were green-lighting the three so they could finally leave the dingy training room and take up residence in the newly finished theatre. your next task was to train the endo that would become monty gator. you thought that was the last you would see of the theatre bot.

you were wrong.

there was something you had not accounted for while you were training them. something that hadn't even crossed your mind, really: their wild attachment to you.

and well… they weren’t exactly willing to let you leave.
