Damn Periods

⋆ ࣪. ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤 ≫ Solid Snake, Big Boss, Venom Snake and Raiden
⋆ ࣪. 𝕎𝕒𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕤 ≫ none, pure fluff!
⋆ ࣪. 𝔸/ℕ ≫ thank you guys for these requests, they are so cute😭
Solid Snake (David)
★ At first he wouldn't mind your periods that much since he really didn't know how they worked
★ But if he sees you in any kind of pain be sure that this man is 24/7 on you
★ Want to be alone? That's alright with him. Want to cuddle all day long? Perfect. Want to go out? Let's go. Want to stay inside? He's already bringing the covers
★ He'll adapt, so don't stress too much about it
Now that you were here in Alaska, back with him again, the cold wasn't really a burden with such good company.
Waiting for him under your two heavy blankets that couldn't compare to the heat of his own skin, you craddled your arms closer to you, lower stomach cramping.
"Where were you? Off to Shadow Moses again?"
You whined as you saw him bringing a steamy cup with him, which you knew you had to share with him. He smiled as he pried the two blankets from your surprisingly still cool body, seeing you curled up.
"Wouldn't even dream about it darling"
You planted your feet against his bicep, chuckling as he hissed, goosebumps forming on his skin almost immediately.
"How are you still that cold?"
You smiled as you giggled at his stunned expression, grabbing the cup that was being handed to you, sighing at the feeling of his arms wrapping around your middle.
"This morning wasn't enough for you? Greedy girl"
He pinched your cheek as he smiled and you recalled the moment he was talking about; you wrapped on one of his fluffiest sweaters, forcing him to cuddle you in bed before he had to head off to take care of his dogs.
You pressed your back further into his chest, lolling your head to the side and resting it on his shoulder bone. Only your heads were visible as the dawn cascaded through the creaky wood.
"Still hurting?"
"Yeah"
You muttered out as you went to grasp your belly, feeling a pair of bigger hands already soothing the skin there, kneading softly and rumaging through the expanse of your skin.
You sipped your favourite warm drink he knew you loved, almost melting at the way he choose the perfect options for your taste buds.
"You're the best, really"
You nuzzled your cheek into his jaw, smelling his aftershave, the one you had bought him not long ago. Lifting your shirt, he finally felt the softness of your skin, massaging now your lower belly as he felt you melt under his touch.
"Better?"
You nodded, already feeling yourself close your weary eyes, nape resting on the expanse of his shoulder, legs resting between his own.
Big Boss "Naked Snake" (John)
★ I see him definitely being the meme of "What size pussy do you wear, woman?" When buying you pads
★ But jokes aside, he would be such a sweetheart with you
★ Will buy you any sweets too whenever he had to buy tampons or pads
★ Belly rubs are a MUST
Curled up on the bathroom floor as your cramps had gotten even worse when you had left the bed to change, stained cheeks that you tried to rub off and finally get up.
"Lets go back to sleep sweetheart"
You had already started to avoid questions like how the fuck was he able to sneak on you like that when the answer was pretty obvious.
He was indeed big boss
Hooking an arm under your knees and the other by your back he lifted you up easily, cringing at the way fat tears still rolled down your cheeks. He hated seeing you in pain, he hated your damn cramps even more than you did.
"It's okay"
He wiped your cheeks with his thumb as he laid back down on the bed with you, not even letting go of the princess carrying as he laid back down on your many pillows.
"Cmon sweetie, you're with me now"
You pressed your face on his chest, trying to surpress your incessant cries you didn't even know where they were coming from. He melted as you muffled your words into his naked chest.
"Didn't want to- wake you up"
Interrumpted by a hiccup you felt even more tears falling down your cheeks, making you separate your wet and hot face from his chest, rubbing your eyes.
"Don't waste such a pretty voice in such fool words"
He whispered out, grasping your hair and pressing your face into his neck. Your hands now hugged his neck as he laid down a bit, finding a comfortable position and pecking your head on the process, rubbing soothing circles with his thumb on your knee.
You both fell into a comfortable silence and when he looked down he saw his wet chest and your beautiful pout as your lips were pressed tightly into his pectoral.
"Sweet dreams"
Venom Snake "Big Boss"
★ His overprotectiveness definitely goes up to a 100%
★ He doesn't want to see you moving a muscle, and less if your periods are painful
★ Cuddles, baths, belly rubs, pills, pads, whatever you ask for, he is giving
★ Will stay in the bath with you, doesn't care if he ends up all bloody, he's used to it anyway
You were out again, after he had told you multiple times to stay back at your shared home. He found you trying to fix one of his guns you knew he used a lot in missions, fumbling with it on the desk.
He always thought you looked way too cute to be holding such weapons and he couldn't help but smile at the sight. But then he saw that you were hunched on the chair, remembering why was he here on the first place.
"Works over, you're coming back"
Turning around you didn't even have the time to greet him before he had you scooped on his arms, dragging you back to your room with him.
"I can still walk yknow"
He chuckled, opening the door with his foot.
"Yeah, but you love my arms too"
You sighed as he ploffed you down on the bed, bouncing a bit by the impact and you almost immediately felt the pain again as you got comfortable.
"This is why I hate having no distractions"
You muttered as you hid your face on the pillows, letting him take off your pants for you, lifting your hips so he could slide them off.
"Well, I sure am having a distraction right now"
You didn't even look at him as he patted your thigh. Letting him lift you up to take off your jacket and shirt as he made sure you didn't have to move a muscle while putting your pijamas on. You heard some shuffling behind and you guessed he was getting ready to bed too, already getting yourself comfortable under the covers as you waited for him.
"See? All nice and comfy here, not out there getting yout hands dirty for me"
He pulled you into his arms immediately after laying down on the matress, rubbing your back with his thumb.
"I do it because you deserve it"
Raiden (Jack)
★ this man is an absolute vamp so he isn't grossed out by some blood
★ uses your period just to give you belly rubs, he loves massaging your skin sm
★ like solid, if you are in any kind of pain he is going to be 24/7 on you
★ periods with Raiden definitely consist in constant massages, movies and many, many cuddles
He was sitting on the other end of the couch, watching the movie he couldn't stop telling you about. Looking at you to see your reaction to a particular scene, he saw that something was wrong.
"Do you not like it? We can watch anot-"
"It's not that, I just, well..."
You cut him off and now you were both looking at each other and he could see ypu grasping your belly as you laid down, making him finally figure things out.
"Oh, so It's that again"
"Don't worry I want to watch it either way- what are you-?"
You said between giggles as you felt him move over the small sofa, lifting your body so you were now sitting on top of him, his surprisingly soft hand landing on your chest, motioning you to lay down further into him.
Your lips let out a little whimper at the feeling of new added preassure to your tummy.
"Tell me if you want me to stop or something"
He whispered into your ear as his eyes still danced through the screen and soon, the preassure had became a new soothing feeling.
"Please don't"
He smiled into your hair, hands still rubbing slow but firm circles, trailing lower and then back up, all over your soreness.
You soon found yourself actually watching the movie, placing your hands on his tattoed arms as your nape rested almost on his chest now. Feet supporting yourself on his thigh, you were almost laying completely on him.

General headcanons about shedletsky?
Sure!!! Love him a lot!!! Literally giggle anytime I see him!!!(I'm not a simp, he's literally just a HUGE comfort character for me lol)
(Divider made by me using this site lol)
🍗 He went to the same college as Builderman and they ran into each other again at university. Completely by chance!! What're the odds??
🍗 He takes dogs and cats off of the streets. His house is almost full, but he'll say it's full of love. You won't be able to get him to let any go. He loves all of them.
🍗 He just. Has a habit of calling people by their full names?? With a straight face???(EG. "David Baszuki, I know you stole my leftovers last night.", "Bradley Tiberius Thaniyel, go talk to your father.", "Orion Morningstar, we know your sins, but Heaven may not be so merciful as we have been.", stuff like that.)
🍗 Pretty much never swears.
🍗 His tongue sticks out when he focuses REALLY REALLY HARD!!
🍗 He has a toothgap from a fight he got in when he was younger.
🍗 Sleeps in jack shit NUFFIN.
🍗 He can definitely hold his own in a fight.(Red and Blue or whoever attacked him caught him off-guard)
🍗 Definitely eats ice cream while watching telenovelas when he's sad.
🍗 He made the swords himself! Not by like. summoning them. He blacksmithed that shit.
🍗 Which means he's strong as SHIT.
🍗 You cannot catch him dead sleeping without some form of stuffed animal. You simply never will. He needs something to snuggle with!!(also something to rub his face against, it's a soothing thing for him lol)
🍗 Literally hates wearing shoes and socks. It's a whole sensory thing with him. His feet get too hot if he wears either or both of those.
🍗 Fried Chicken is a comfort food to him <3
🍗 Sorta freaked out when he found out Builderman went missing???
🍗 The spot where he got beat up??
🍗 THAT was where he and Builderman typically met up to head to work together.
🍗 He went to go see if he was there :(
🍗 He knew he probably wasn't, but like. it didn't hurt to check, right?
🍗 His love languages are: Touch, words of affirmation, cooking for his partner, and gift giving :3
🍗 He likes taking naps, feels like they make his day better!
🍗 he is forklift certified. run.
🍗 He has. definitely jousted forklifts with Builderman on more than one occasion. #justbestiethings
🍗 "What? Who's Telamon? Never heard of him!"
🍗 Fun thing!!! UH!!! HATRED. WASN'T THE ORIGINAL GHOSTWALKER GUARDIAN???
🍗 JOHN FORGOT TO TELL THE ORIGINAL GUY TO NOT TOUCH THE SWORD??? SAID GUY GOT PULLED IN AND SORTA KINDA MAYBE EATEN BY HATRED??? NOBODY EVER NOTICED??? RIP THAT GUY I GUESS
🍗 He never really stops smiling, but when he does, the air in the room just...changes.

The Hobnob Affair—Watchthrough Thoughts
Yes! I’m back! I’m not sure if I’ll continue to be in a place to do these going forward, but I’m feeling up for it today, so here we are. I loved this play so much (and Luke was hilarious in the livestream chat), so fair warning that this is, as always, pretty long. But for those of you who, like me, have fun reading these things: I hope you enjoy!
Ooh, the idea of starting with a narrator is really interesting; I like it
“Sorry. Just killing time. There you go.” I love the way he says that and I don’t know why (also I always adore it when they use a microphone)
Tom having to lean down so far to reach the mic is my new favourite thing, actually
“A little café” I think they forgot that basically immediately and I love that for them
“Oh… Love can be difficult. It can be even more difficult when you’re trying to get a mic off the stage whilst maintaining your gravitas.” I love Tom so much
“Sometimes when I’m angry with David, I call him a fat cunt.” What a healthy-sounding relationship (I mean, I guess if David’s really fine with it…?)
“I don’t mean it, though. He’s not fat.” The moment of pure silence
“But I am a cunt” I will never be able to hear this without thinking of Luke in the live chat saying ‘so true Sam’
“Raw materials” AJ (also I adore when one of them (to be honest, it’s usually AJ, and I say that with so much love) fucks up some little thing and it becomes the plot of the play)
“You mean ingredients?” “Ingredients—Noooo.” Go on, AJ, double down on it
“Dough and flour. You’re a maverick, you are.” Sassy Sam, hell yeah
“Steel-dough flour biscuits” only in a SFTH play, I swear
Ooh, John and David/Terry/Dave—we’ve got another gay couple!
Also “John.” “John.” is hilarious
“Even though his name’s definitely Dave” um actually Luke it’s David (lighthearted; I love it when they forget names)
The look on Sam’s face when he changes the scene is glorious
Hello Tom (he should wear tank tops more often, because, like… he looks good)
This is so fucking ridiculous and I love it (a blacksmith-bakery—peak SFTH)
“You ever seen a pussy cook?” Jesus, Tom
“Took about nine months” I love Sam
Sam always goes all out for Scottish accents and I adore it
The continuation of the Sam-Tom stagecraft war!
I love Cindy Campbell with all my heart
Sam’s dramatic fucking door-opening is incredible
Wait, so John (AJ) is trying to buy raw materials from the blacksmith-bakery? Do they sell raw materials, or just the finished products?
“Oh, no, don’t. ’Cause it’ll make me feel bad about mine.” Um, no, excuse me, Tom’s not ever allowed to feel bad about himself, actually
I love how Tom’s always the one to hype up AJ’s muscles; it’s so sweet
AJ playing football (???) with the hammer is just so quintessentially AJ
“You [thruhmp] and I’ll [duong]” AJ???
I love it when they sing so much
“You could be the son I never had” right in front of your daughter???? Okay, you know what, this guy might have great arms, but fuck him
“She’s only fourteen.” “I’m eighteen.” Ah, Shoot from the Hip, the kings of ‘yes, and’ (sarcastic but affectionate)
“It’s so they can fuck” thank you for that hand motion, Sam
“I treasure this young man, and I bet he’s got standards” okay, nope, yep, FUCK THIS GUY
“No offence” yeah, fucking sure
Okay, so he’s a self-aware asshole
The way they fade in and out of conversations in order to do two scenes simultaneously is incredible holy shit (you can really tell how long they’ve been doing this and how well they work together)
Tom just jumping in and breaking the two-scene flow to correct AJ is beautiful
“My girlfriend says that I’m a massive weight and I have nothing to offer” what healthy relationships on display in this play
Tom and Sam in the background oh my god
…am I starting to ship Angus Campbell and Sam’s character?
“A series of fun parlour games” I don’t know why I love the way Sam phrased that, but I do
Also this is not about SFTH but they mentioned daylight savings time and I just feel the need to add FUCK DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
“A biscuit can mend a broken heart” that would make great merch (“it’s on our slogan”) (although I’m hoping for ‘raw materials’ merch, personally)
God damn it, Angus, you were so close
Look, I know I said I hate Angus, but I am rooting for him; I like to think that someday, in the future, he does some therapy and gets to make amends (although I wouldn’t blame Cindy if she didn’t accept his apology)
“Don’t call your ex. Don’t do it.” As someone who doesn’t have any exes, I can’t speak personally, but I’ve heard that calling them is generally a bad idea, so: hey you! Listen to AJ! Don’t call your ex!
I love Sam’s “bad girl” characters, actually
The detail in Sam’s mime is killing me
That is so many beeps, good god
“That was my unlock code” I love AJ
AJ is just picking on Luke at this point and I’m here for it
Sam
Also Sam is just staring directly into the camera and it’s scaring me
“Call averted” ???? Is that a British thing, or a misspeak, or…?
“Phone unlocked” ah, Luke’s revenge, I see
“MEGACALL unlocked!” …I’m not even going to ask, actually
Oh, John, baby, you are not helping yourself right now
Shoutout to the subtitlers for the placement of the captions saying each person is laughing
I adore Lucy, actually
“What if I can’t move on? What if you were everything to me and there’s no life—” oh, sweetheart, we really need to get you some self-esteem
The little cheek rub? I’m sorry, that was so fucking cute????
Oh, okay, cute might have been the wrong word
Fucking hell, Luke (at least he didn’t take his trousers off again (Nigel flashbacks))
“Du-bye-bye” that was so stupid and I loved it
Okay, Sam, damn (I love how much Sam carries the others)
Also Lucy carrying her go-go-dancer partner bridal style is one of my new favourite things (they are literally in half a scene and I’m so invested in their relationship)
ALSO the way Luke holds his arm out as Sam carries him is giving me “behold, Luke” (Marigolds, Bluebells, and Hugh) flashbacks
The captions are the best as always; “heartbroken rage-screams” is indeed the best description of that noise
AJ oh my god (this is the new Tom-with-the-wine moment) (which means it’s never going to leave my head) ((we don’t need to talk about how often I think about Tom with the wine))
…Are we just brushing past the fact that Angus Campbell and Sam’s character literally sleep together? Because my conviction about this ship is growing
Do they genuinely just sleep in the blacksmith-bakery???
I never knew the name of that song (I know, I’m uncultured), so I’d like to thank the captions for that
Special-effects-J™
“She became a series of crumpets” I’m fucking sorry??? Tom???
This is graphic
“Aye, I’m not sexiest.” “No! You’re just abusive to your daughter.” “Aye!” Well that’s a quote
Ah, so Angus has good intentions and is just fucking horrible at executing them
Ooh, Troll-Father?
As someone who has no idea what a hobnob is, I’m greatly enjoying trying to piece it together (I know it’s a kind of cookie/biscuit, and I’m getting chocolate? But that’s it)
Oh, okay, they’re happy about the chocolate on both sides; I thought they were going to be upset, but I’m pleased to see they’re not
“You didn’t even put any ingredients in” excuse me, Tom, what are ingredients? We only know RAW MATERIALS here
“The Bussy Café” fucking—I was NOT expecting to hear that today good god (does Tom know what that means? Because in the QnA I got the sense he doesn’t) (to be honest it’s probably for the best that he doesn’t) (but it sounds like Sam does know what that means and to be honest, I’m not surprised)
“Alright, Sally” you know, Sam is the only one who ever gets away with getting people’s names wrong
“It’s here on this plinth.” “The plinth came out of nowhere as well.” “No, it came from here; you just didn’t see it.” I love the stagecraft war (and the word ‘plinth’)
“It’s been a while since I’ve been impressed” look, I am trying to root for you and your potential future redemption arc, but you sure making it very hard
“The technique was all mine” HELL YEAH show them Cindy!
Hey! Mrs. Campbell can be a beautiful, seductive, blonde, muscular, big woman; who says she can’t be both?
“’Cause I trusted myself even though you didn’t trust me” go on, Cindy, overcome your upbringing!!!!
AJ taking the phone again????? I am never going to get over this oh my god (look, I don’t know why the Tom-wine bit and now the AJ-phone bit get in my head like this, okay? They just do)
No, John, don’t do it!
“I’m lying here in Dubai, just thinking about you while I’m wrapped up in Marco’s arms” No, wait, I really like Lucy and Marco! Or, wait, hang on, maybe they’re polyamorous; I mean, if she’s making this call while in his arms, he’s clearly fine with it, so… Yeah, that’s going to be my headcanon (Also, I know the storyline is about John moving on, but now I’m thinking about a Lucy-Marco-John-Cindy polycule, and… I’m getting off track, sorry)
Also I don’t think we’ve ever gotten this many names before; I think every character has a name except for Sam’s character who works at the blacksmith-bakery (and Mrs. Campbell, technically, but she’s a. dead and b. got a surname)
“I’ve sent you a selfie” Sam
“How would you like to bake something in here for nine months?” SAM
The beginning of Angus’s redemption arc!
…AJ, what are you doing?
Oh, Jesus
Oh my fucking GOD
AJ
What the hell were you thinking
He just dropped someone’s phone
They are unhinged
They are unhinged and I love them so much
Wait, no, I like Lucy; I don’t want her to be a crumpet (maybe the phone is a crumpet now, and she’s just fine)
Kiss!
That’s a great kiss, as well
“I knew they were” Tom
I adore it when they end the play with the title (and I love that it’s always Sam who does it)
Unhinged. Fucking insane. I love this play.
#I think these might be my longest watchthrough thoughts yet#at least for the plays and not the livestreams#so… sorry about that#but#yeah#I fucking loved this#and I’m really glad I felt well enough to do this#hopefully I’ll be able to get back into doing them more regularly#but no promises#anyways#this was such an incredible play#definitely up there with some of my favourites#shoot from the hip#sfth#the hobnob affair#nightshadow’s watchthrough thoughts

Hello there, friend! Firstly, I just wanted to say that I love coming by your answers to asks on the P&P tag. (All hilarious and so informative). Getting back into the groove of revisiting Austen (after being entrenched in WW2 history), and I'm sure this has been asked of you before, but would you have any book recommendations that can help jump me off on the historiography of Austen's works or perhaps some of your fave covering the early 17th century?
So sorry, I know I can definitely Google this, but I really just love reading through your analysis of things and would love to peek into the things you read to supplement your Austen obsession! <3 Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. <3
Hi and thank you!
I have read some specifically Jane Austen history books and some more general ones, here they are:
Jane Austen and the Navy by Brian Southam (published by the National Maritime Museum). I purchased this book because I was writing fan fiction about Captain Wentworth. The first half covers naval history and the real life Austen family (two brothers became admirals), the second half explores all naval references in Jane Austen's novels.
Fashionable Goodness: Christianity in Jane Austen's England by Brenda S. Cox (here are some posts from it) This is an independently published and researched book that gives an overview of the Church of England (primarily) during Austen's lifetime. It explains a lot of what is found in the novels around clergymen.
The Annotated Pride & Prejudice by David M. Shapard - Not the best literature analysis, but I find they have good history notes. I only own one because they are expensive.
What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew by Daniel Pool - this one is a bit surface-level, but it did have some very good information about the law
The Time Traveller's Guide to Regency Britain by Ian Mortimer (a post) - I found this very informative and it gets into spicy bits, which as a fan fiction writer I loved and needed.
Also, this amazing thesis about economics and Jane Austen:
“ABOVE VULGAR ECONOMY:” JANE AUSTEN AND MONEY by Sheryl Bonar Craig, which you can find here. Post about it. Learn within that Hertfordshire (Elizabeth Bennet) was the poorest shire in Austen's time and Derbyshire (Mr. Darcy) was the richest! But honestly, so much good information and very well sourced.
For literary analysis, the best one (in my opinion) is: What Matters in Jane Austen: Twenty Crucial Puzzles Solved by John Mullan. I disagree with him on one or two points (he's very anti-Mary Crawford), but in general this is an amazing book and gives a lot of historical context as well
To avoid
As for online articles, I always try to approach things like a scientist. I look for citations because a lot of people write history references for fan fiction without any sources. So reader be aware!

may I request headcanons for the turtles w/ a younger sib (same age as mikey) who’s a jeweler? like they’ve got their own little workshop in the lair to make really nice stuff from old silverware scrap metal and glass, clean up old jewelry they find in the trash, and sell most of it online 💍
please, and thank you
ahhh!!!!! yes yes yes!!!
you didn’t specify which version, so i went w/ the rise!boys since that’s what i’m ‘known’ for (i think?)
your workshop, the boys— they but it all themselves!! they heard you talking about jewelry making with april and was like ‘ayo what if we just…’ and BOOM. built.
it was SO HARD to keep it a secret!!! especially since raph and mikey are AWFUL at keeping secrets. AND!!! the process wasn’t exactly quiet— it took forever cause they had to work on it when you were out.
but hey! they got it done!!!
donnie gets you the metal and glass. he lets you use some of his equipment too. he also uhm… ‘bought’ the packaging used for shipping… iykwim
sometimes you go to the repo place w/ mikey and donnie!! and people tend to leave jewelry in their cars (which is lowkey upsetting!! like why are you leaving beautiful rings, bracelets, and necklaces lying in your car!?)
and and and mikey will help you with blue print designs!! (i have no clue how jewelry making works)
if you engrave your jewelry, he’ll design the font for it!! which he absolutely loves doing because it’s bonding time and we all know he loves bonding time!!!
leo would definitely model your jewelry for you. give him some bracelets and necklaces— that mf will already have a whole ass outfit ready!!! we love him for that!!! (and we love that he’s canonically into the glam rock look!! ie; david bowie, elton john, queen, duran duran, etc)
he’s always leaving reviews on your websites and telling people which items go with what kind of outfits!! (i just think he loves fashion)
now when it comes to raph— he’s the one that breaks apart the metal for you. sure donnie’s machines can do it but, you know he wants to be a part of this somehow!!
he feels so useful when he does it— he feels like it’s a very important part of the process in jewelry making!! which it is cause like— you need metal!! and he’ll sometimes go on little walks with todd and find small gems for your jewelry too!!!
ahhh i hope this is what you were hoping for!!

Music Taste Of The Four Lords
What follows is a list of various music I think the lords would like, each get a few artists and/or song they'd like and a theoretical favorite song. Of course a question could not get more subjective but that doesn't mean I'm taking criticism lol. Be advised I barely listen to modern music (past 10 years or so) with a few exceptions so it may be stunted that direction.
Alcina Dimitrescu: Lady Dimitrescu would definitely like a lot of stuff from her own time, classic big band, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra (I know he's later), Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, these are the only men she can put up with besides Ramon Salazar and the Duke. She probably toured with half of the fuckers. I think she'd pick and choose from all the decades after that. She'd like Fleetwood Mac, I know, I don't know why but she does, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, and positively fucking loves Laufey. But her favorite song is "Dancing Queen by ABBA", fucking change my mind. She'd also probably really like ABBA on the whole, "Dancing queen, young and sweet, only 117".
Salvatore Moreau: I'm sorry but I have to let you all down with Moreau, I can only think of the song he cries to and his favorite song. He cries to "Hurt by Johnny Cash" and his favorite song is "Don't Stop Believin' by Journey" this being his favorite song is non-negotiable, I just know it'd be.
Karl Heisenberg: Well, obviously, this man would love Classic Rock and Metal. I'd say for artists he'd like Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, The Strokes, and Nirvana (He'd def love Grunge). I don't know many heavy metal bands but he'd probably like them along with Cassandra. For a favorite song I'm going to go out on a limb and say "And Romeo Had Juliette" I just think he'd love the forlorn romanticism of it all, lyrics in particular. I'm also an ardent Donnaberg shipper and I think the song definitely works for them. No way I projected my favorite song onto Heisenberg, no way, right? His close second favorite song is "The Man Who Sold The World by Nirvana", it's a Bowie song, Nirvana did a cover before Cobain died.
Donna Beneviento: For Donna she'd probably have some really calm jazz for Angie to interrupt while she works, Miles Davis, maybe Brubeck, I'd guess. I also think for sure think she'd love the Talking Heads. But I can't think of many artists for Donna so here are songs. I'd say she's probably a lot more eclectic than the others lords musically so it varies more. "Crazy by Gnarls Barkley", "Say It Ain't So by Weezer", "We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn", "The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen", "Wish I Knew You by The Revivalists", "Heroes by David Bowie", "House of the Rising Sun by The Animals". And for her favorite song I'd say "Cigarette Daydreams by Cage The Elephant". It also has a little bit of Donnaberg in it to me if you think in terms of them so I'm biased.

With 17 pages, 11/22/2009 is the longest Homestuck update by number of pages to date. It contains not one but TWO huge story developments: the ominous planet and the Peregrine Mendicant.
Ominous Planet
Just as WV told us, the ominous planet is bright purple and lies ‘beyond an impenetrable veil of darkness’ (p.704/886).
Dad is here!! I think a lot of the sudden character transitions in Homestuck actually make sense – we went from John thinking about going into his dad’s room, over to Dad himself. He barely appeared in Act 2, getting kidnapped by the imps at the start and breaking out of his trick handcuffs at the end, and now he easily bests them. Clowning is a physically demanding pursuit so Dad must be well in shape beneath the business clothes, because he launches one imp right through the wall.
We also meet an imp security guard (?) who’s wearing similar but more intricate harlequin gear.
They’re watching Dad fight the imps and somehow also watching John battle the ogres, through a pair of windows similar in design to ‘one of [Jade’s] GRANDPA'S more mysterious inventions’ (p.790), the freestanding window on Jade’s gadget table. There is apparently no end to the number of people watching John.
He looks kind of familiar. On page 833, we’re introduced to the full Midnight Crew as the sky switches from blue to bright purple. And comparing these face shapes and designs side by side, these two characters feel like they could have something to do with each other. They’re both really angry, as Spades Slick’s answer to everything is violence, and this new guy refers to the other imps, John and Dad, or both as ‘graveyard stuffers’ (p.891). It’s the only text we get in relation to the character. The narrator apparently has nothing to add and no witty comment on that thought of theirs. There’s then a quick cut where seeing the next page title ‘You are now…’ suggests that we’re about to become this guy, but we instead suddenly become-
Peregrine Mendicant
THE MAIL HAS ARRIVED. Mail, packages and deliveries are a recurring motif – there have been several important colorful packages, several envelopes containing discs, and now there is a letter to Dr. David Brinner, ATTN: SERIOUS BUSINESS. Serious Business is of course the messaging client that Dad uses to keep in touch with his troupe, and we just returned to Dad in the story, so is this finally the moment that wellPressedAttire or officeurchin1280 take their starring role in the narrative? It’s definitely a person in John’s neighborhood but not Dad himself, as we’ve seen the insides of the Egbert mailbox.
PM’s mail based tirade (p.894-896) is of course reminiscent of WV’s mayoral calling (p.686) and PM’s adoption of the hat is just like WV making their sash. So there’s something to say about these chess pieces arriving at these Skaian bunkers and immediately adopting an institution of society as critically important. Both PM and WV’s monologues read as very idealistic, imagining these overly simplistic societies that function like textbook diagrams, as though they know about these things from books similar to WV’s Human Etiquette tome and have never been part of an actual human society. Comparing the two, WV’s monologue feels more peaceful, as it’s focused on everyone getting along, mutual respect, civility and a kind leader. PM talks of soldiers, a crusade, defenders and hope among the ashes; it’s far more violent and adventurous, and feels more grounded in harsh realities even while it maybe overestimates the mail’s capability.
Which is not to criticize the mail or PM’s speech, because I think they’re both great. I agree that mail is very important, highly underappreciated, and I think it’s beautiful to explore an empty wasteland and to think ‘if there are any people left here, I need to make sure they can communicate with each other’.
Looking stylish in their new hat, PM loads their terminal and tries to greet Jade the same way WV commanded John. Jade is already covered by a lot of green static, but it appears to be snowing where she is, with flakes and drifts behind her. Which is weird in itself, because Jade is close enough to the equator that a quick search suggests it wouldn’t snow in her area no matter the time of year, especially not with the geothermal power near her house. But it gets weirder, because when John resisted a command he just felt frustrated and got a headache as he tried to ignore a weird voice in his head. When Jade resists a command, she apparently blows up the command station with lightning that she transmits through time and space. Yet another way that Jade is weirder and more powerful than the other characters.
> PM: Sacrifice yourself to save the mail.
#homestuck#reaction#this is my SHIT!! getting to pull page 270 and page 900 and look at those side by side#and have the earlier one now take on more meaning with the context and comparison of the later#it feels good every time also HUGE shout out to the adventure log and search function on the unofficial homestuck collection#working so good every time it is so easy to find the things i need when i need them#truly one of the best computer applications ever made and i mean that with my whole heart#chrono

Do you have any resources for RAMCOA? Resources for like...the types of programs and stuff like that. We're going through things and trying to research and pinpoint things, but finding resources has been absolute hell. If you get this twice, I'm sorry. Our tumblr is kind of shit.
Hello! I have several resources that I think may be helpful to you:
This document (LINK) of "rare programs" and their descriptions, posted by @killercatboys.
Chapters 4 and 7 of Becoming Yourself by Alison Miller (LINK) discuss programming and chapter 7 includes an anecdote with specific programs and definitions. The entire book is really a great read and is geared towards survivors of RAMCOA, just be sure to take it slow and take care of yourself.
Common Programs Observed in Survivors of Satanic Ritualistic Abuse by David W. Neswald (LINK) - massive trigger warning for suicide, self-harm, and abuse.
Spin Programming: A Newly Uncovered Technique of Systematic Mind Control by John D. Lovern (LINK) - includes symptoms, implementation, and uses of spin programs; trigger warning for abuse/torture methods.
Healing the Unimaginable by Alison Miller (LINK) is geared towards therapists and professionals and includes more in-depth information about RAMCOA than Becoming Yourself does. Again, massive trigger warning throughout the book for RAMCOA.
Kinds of Torture Endured in Ritual Abuse and Trauma-Based Mind Control by Ellen P. Lacter (LINK) - partial list of torture methods used in RAMCOA; trigger warning for abuse, near-death, and torture.
Mind Control: Simple to Complex by Ellen P. Lacter (LINK) - describes twelve "stages" of mind control and programming, going from outward compliance to torture/trauma-based mind control; trigger warning for descriptions of abuse.
Some Indicators of Trauma-Based Mind Control Programming by Ellen P. Lacter (LINK) provides common indicators of TBMC; most survivors of programming will have many of these indicators, but their presence does not prove the existence of TBMC and their absence does not prove that one has not experienced TBMC.
Adult and Adolescent Indicators of Ritual Trauma by Ellen P. Lacter (LINK) provides indicators of ritual abuse in teens and adults; as with the last bullet point, their presence does not prove ritual abuse and their absence does not disprove it.
Child Indicators of Ritual Abuse Trauma in Play and Art by Ellen P. Lacter (LINK) provides potential indicators of ritualized abuse in children and pre-teens; as with the previous two bullet points, their presence does not prove ritual abuse and their absence does not disprove it.

Inside Carnal Knowledge • Part 2
🧵 Outlander_Starz: The cannons include a little nod to Production Designer Mike Gunn and Set Decorator Stuart Bryce. Made originally for the battles in the first half of Season 7, Gunn and Bryce couldn't resist the opportunity to immortalize their names in metal when they were rebuilt for the market in Part 2.

🧵Outlander_Starz: Another Easter Egg: some of the background signs display the names of our hardworking and talented Outlander crew!
Not only are the signs an opportunity for the Art Department to have a bit of fun and feature their names in the show, but it actually helps with legal clearances too, moving them through much faster.

🧵 Outlander_ Starz: Who else was shocked seeing the usually so dignified Lord John battered, bruised, and a little bit unhinged?
To create the effect, David Berry traveled to London to have a mold taken of his face. Then, a prosthetic was made to fit over his eye (which, by the way, cut off his vision). Application took an hour.
"It looks very realistic," said Berry. "So realistic that the amount of sympathy and shock I got from people on set was quite a thing to experience."

🧵Outlander_Starz: I definitely feel for William but can we all agree he was a little bit messy this episode? So was the fight scene location.
Said Charles Vandervaart, "That was such a miserable day in terms of weather. There was so much rain. Lots of mud. I felt really bad for the wardrobe people because every time I would fall over I would just be covered in mud and they'd have to scrub it off for the next take. But it was also such a great day. I'm so fortunate to have great cast mates like Izzy and John."

🧵 Outlander_Starz: The drama continues for William at the brothel, where he meets the intriguing Arabella aka Jane.
For the screen, liberties were taken to highlight Silvia Presente's beautiful hair. Said Hair and Makeup Designer Ann McEwan, "Silvia's hair is gorgeous. Everyone was really happy with it... The producers wanted her hair down, which wasn't common for the time, but it suited the part and suited her."

🧵 Outlander_Starz: As for the brothel space, Production Designer Mike Gunn and Set Decorator Stuart Bryce opted for a dark, simple color palette, electing instead to build color and texture through textiles, props, and an abundance of flowers.

Conceptually, we just kept adding more and more. If you look closely, there are different layers of time within everything we put in that room.
There's some really ragtag, tatty looking stuff. There's some stuff that looks quite crisp and sharp.
The same goes for the flowers in the floral displays. We tried to make a visual feast of dark with pops of color everywhere. — STUART BRYCE, SET DECORATOR

🧵Outlander_Threads: In this episode, Jamie Fraser is reacquainted with the one and only George Washington, who bestows upon him a great honor: a promotion to Brigadier General.
Though WE of course know Jamie Fraser as the King of Men, the writers put a lot of thought into making sure his ascent up the ranks this season felt earned. I'm just glad the future President of the United States now sees Jamie the way that we do.

We've always shown Jamie as a revered leader... whether it be his guys at Prestonpans and Culloden-his Scottish guys that know he's a great leader-or his guys from the Ridge-his Ardsmuir guys that would follow him anywhere-he's always been the top dog. But now that he goes north and joins the revolutionary cause... he's kind of a nobody. He's in a much bigger army now...
We crafted it very purposefully to start him small as just one of the guys making suggestions but turning out to be right. Little by little, he proves himself... He becomes this leader to where finally, George Washington recognizes his talent and skill and makes him a general. — TONI GRAPHIA, EXECUTIVE PRODUCER & WRITER

Hi! I'm not sure if somebody asked you this before, but what types of music do you think the Reds are into? Maybe you have some examples of artists you think they like?
Sarge definitely likes a lot of country-western and classic rock/folk rock, but surprisingly loves more soulful music as well, jazz and blues (he wishes it wasn't called that, but oh well), and isn't afraid to give any musical genre a listen, which leads him to liking many songs that are funk/hip-hop/rap (he's also secretly a huge fan of Stevie Nicks and Dolly Parton). Some of his favorite songs are "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, "War" by Edwin Starr, "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash, "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, "Twilight Zone" by Golden Earring, "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers, "99 Red Balloons" by Nena, "September" by Earth Wind and Fire, "Country Roads" by John Denver, "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band, and "Hit 'em High" by B-Real/Coolio/Method Man/LL Cool J/Busta Rhymes
Simmons tries to play-up being a fan of classical music to seem impressive... and he DOES like it, but he's also a big dork who loves songs that are specifically made for movies (Ghostbusters, everything Will Smith did for his films, etc), and collects soundtracks for whatever he likes (he really digs musical scores, like Jurassic Park and such). He also really likes 80s bops and techno/synth music, but doesn't want to admit he's into "nerd music". He also likes oldies and "soda fountain hits" from the 50s and 60s. Some of his favorite songs are "Take on Me" by A-ha, "Mad World" by Tears for Fears, "Sh-Boom" by the Chords, "Get in Line" by the Bare Naked Ladies, "The Impression That I Get" by the Mighty Bosstones, "Rocket Man" by Elton John, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by the Proclaimers, "Yoda" by Weird Al Yankovic, "It's the End of the World as We Know It" by REM, "Carry On" by Kansas, "Weird Science" by Oingo Boingo, "Johnny B Goode" by Chuck Berry
Grif will just say he likes "whatever", because he doesn't focus too much on one genre (and he doesn't want to admit he likes a lot of "oldie" rock, some pop and hippie music), and plays up liking chill zone-out songs more. He does enjoy a few weird/experimental/alt music (grunge and what-not). Some of his favorite songs are "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister, "Baba O'Riley" by the Who, "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane, "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics, "Stay Home" by Self, "I Get Around" by the Beach Boys, "I Wanna Be Sedated" by the Ramones, "If I Had a Million Dollars" by the Bare Naked Ladies, "Here I go Again" by Whitesnake, "Rock and Roll All Nite" by Kiss, "Headstrong" by Trapt, "But Anyway" by Blues Traveler
Donut does indeed love a lot of pop songs/dance music, but randomly likes more edgy stuff, but usually not too dark (some hip-hop in there, some alt rock, punk, and glam metal). Basically anything really catchy, which he WILL play over and over again when it is his turn to control the radio. Like Grif and Simmons, stuff he enjoys were in the soundtracks for movies he watched, and he has an appreciation for disco. Some of his favorite songs are "Cele-B-R-A-T-E" by Russell Velázquez, "Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches and Herb, "Car Wash" by Rose Royce, "Barbie Girl" by Aqua, "Dancing in the Street" by Myra, "Cherry Bomb" by the Runaways, "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves, "Wanna Be" by the Spice Girls, "Foot Loose" by Kenny Loggins, "Changes" by David Bowie, and "Ballroom Blitz" by the Sweet, "Baby One More Time" by Bowling For Soup
Lopez mostly enjoys more serious music, soulful love songs, and the occasional power-ballad... but he is not immune to a catchy tune with fun lyrics, including pop and salsa, and electronic music (though, he'll probably lie and insist somebody ELSE put it on the radio, and he just hasn't bothered to change it). Some of his favorite songs are "I'd Do Anything for Love" by Meat Loaf, "You Sang to Me" by Marc Anthony, "Bailamos" by Enrique Iglesias, "On Melancholy Hill" by Gorillaz, "Harder Better Faster Stronger" by Daft Punk, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by the Clash, "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons, "Satellite" by Smash Mouth, "No Children" by the Mountain Goats, "The Final Countdown" by Europe, "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, and "I Love You Too Much" by Diego Luna

Let’s just get this out of the way: you do not, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
Barrett, after all, was installed on the Supreme Court for the sole purpose of helping overturn Roe v. Wade — a smug little move that ensured a female justice joined the men in eradicating bodily autonomy for women. Lately, however, she’s broken with the MAGA majority on some things that are making her once-fervent backers furious.
Is Amy Coney Barrett our new David Souter, a Republican appointee who turned out to be a progressive jurist who routinely upheld liberal values? Or perhaps our new Anthony Kennedy, often the swing vote in 5-4 disputes, a theoretical median justice who could be persuaded to side with liberals if he got the spotlight? Or maybe she’s more like Chief Justice John Roberts, occasionally flipping sides to burnish her legacy?
Barrett is not really any of those. She likely aspires to be like her mentor, the late Justice Antonin Scalia, for whom she clerked. Scalia was a reliably hard-right conservative who was very occasionally a champion for good things like robust Fourth Amendment protections. Scalia sided with the liberal justices on three key cases that restricted the ability of police to perform warrantless searches, writing the majority opinion in each. When Barrett was on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, she sided with law enforcement nearly nine times out of ten, but she has joined the Court’s liberals on some Fourth Amendment cases.
What Barrett is not, most definitely, is a justice in the behavioral mode of Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas. She hasn’t adopted their trollish, pugnacious vibe and doesn’t quite seem to be taking her cues from the pages of the Daily Caller or the Federalist. Nor has she adopted Scalia’s habit of caustic mockery, but that might only be the case because while Scalia was lauded for that, women simply aren’t as free to behave that way. Instead, Barrett joined Justice Sonia Sotomayor for a public appearance where they insisted the Court is just chock full of collegial camaraderie.
“She checked identity politics boxes”
Right now, conservatives are mad because Barrett sided with Roberts and the Court’s liberals in the 5-4 decision requiring the administration to pay close to $2 billion owed to USAID contractors for work they had already completed.
Terminally online bottom feeders like Jack Posobiec, Laura Loomer, and Mike Cernovich smeared her as a “DEI hire.” Loomer even posted a picture of Barrett’s family, which includes two adopted Black children, just to make sure that everyone understood the DEI slam was not just misogynistic but also racist. Josh Blackman, a conservative law professor and commentator who enthusiastically backed Barrett’s nomination, now whines that she “had no business being appointed to the Supreme Court” and also that maybe she wasn’t even qualified for her seat on the Seventh Circuit.
Notably, Roberts doesn’t face as much ire as Barrett despite also occasionally siding with the liberals for rulings that infuriate conservatives, including in the USAID case. There are probably two reasons for this. First, Roberts is a white straight man, so he can never be tarred with the DEI brush or be told that he only got the job because he “checked identity politics boxes,” as Cernovich said about Barrett. As important, though, is that Roberts is not a Trump appointee, and therefore is not expected to show the same level of personal mob-style fealty required of Barrett.
Hence Blackman’s complaint that not only is Barrett not intellectually qualified to be on the Court but that he is “fairly confident she does not like President Trump.” The framing here is that Barrett owes her position to Trump and therefore owes him love, devotion, and voting in lockstep in return. It’s part of the right’s profound disregard for the separation of powers. They have no interest in a judiciary that is independent from Trump’s wishes.
It isn’t just the USAID case that has MAGA types calling for Barrett’s head. Internet randos were incandescent with rage that she didn’t vote to block Trump’s sentencing in his New York hush money criminal case earlier this year. In 2024, when she joined the liberals in dissenting on a voting rights case, MAGA luminary Cat Turd called her “Amy Commie Barrett.”
While the more low-rent MAGA commentators like Posobiec and Cernovich might be furious with Barrett, she hasn’t lost the support of the person who really matters. No, not Donald Trump, though he vaguely defended her, calling her a “very good woman” after the USAID decision. Leonard Leo, chair of the Federalist Society and the person who arguably has been the most instrumental in ensuring the Court’s lurch to the right, still thinks Barrett is doing swell, saying she is “in the vanguard of conservative jurisprudence on abortion, racial preferences, the administrative state, religious freedom, Trump immunity, guns and the Second Amendment” even after her vote on the USAID case. Ed Whelan, another former Scalia clerk best known for his unceasing devotion to smearing Christine Blasey Ford during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, is also still a big fan.
One thing right-wingers are correct about is that it is difficult to parse Barrett’s overall judicial philosophy. She definitely fancies herself as an originalist, the conservative legal philosophy that says the Constitution must be frozen in amber, interpreted only as it was at the time of its ratification. But she doesn’t love the Clarence Thomas approach to originalism, which cherry-picks the historical record to get a preferred result.
When it comes to reproductive health or LGBTQ cases, Barrett is a true blue hard-right conservative, refusing ever to recognize that denying people bodily autonomy is inherently bad. In the oral argument in Dobbs v. Jackson, which overturned Roe, she blithely mused that since all states now have safe haven laws where people can surrender an infant without being prosecuted, was abortion really necessary? In 2023, she joined the rightwing majority in holding that a Christian website designer could discriminate against same-sex couples and refuse to work with them. She’s so far afield on trans issues that in a recent oral argument she seemed completely surprised that there is a long and vicious history of discrimination against trans people.
In contrast to voting in lockstep on those issues, Barrett has broken with the MAGA majority on two recent Environmental Protection Agency cases. She wrote the dissenting opinions, joined by the Court’s three liberal justices, in Ohio v. EPA and San Francisco v. EPA. But dissenting cost Barrett nothing. In both cases, there were already five votes from the Court’s other right-wingers, ensuring that the EPA’s ability to regulate smog and water quality was gutted even without her help.
That’s also the case with her dissent in Fischer v. United States. There, the majority narrowed the scope of the federal obstruction law used to charge many of the January 6 rioters. In dissenting, Barrett said that the rioters were undoubtedly blocking an official proceeding by, well, rioting. The next day, however, she turned around and joined the right-wingers in giving Trump sweeping presidential immunity for actions that incited that very riot, albeit favoring a slightly narrower approach.
As much as Trump supporters are currently howling about Barrett being a secret Democrat or whatever, the idea that Barrett is a reliable vote for liberals is just not accurate. In the 2023 term, she joined Alito and Thomas, the Court’s most conservative jurists, more than 80 percent of the time. She’s been a reliable conservative vote for ending abortion, ending affirmative action, and ending most regulations on guns.
All of this makes it difficult to guess whether Barrett will help serve as a bulwark against Trump’s worst excesses. She’s slightly more hawkish than her conservative colleagues on procedural issues, meaning she’s not always as ready to intervene to grant emergency relief without full litigation. However, just because she prefers that the Court take cases where a record has been developed at the lower court stage rather than ruling on them on the shadow docket doesn’t mean she won’t ultimately side with conservatives. In Kennedy v. Bremerton, the plaintiff was initially handed a procedural loss, but ultimately Barrett joined the right-wingers, upending the First Amendment by basically legalizing coerced Christian prayers in public schools.
A very slender reed of hope
Barrett could emerge as the median justice, the one representing the center of the Court’s ideology, a position that Justice Brett Kavanaugh has recently occupied. But that’s actually part of the problem.
The Court has lurched so far rightward that Barrett’s views are sometimes moderate in comparison to her more hardline colleagues, but that doesn’t mean she’s liberal or that she will consistently work to stop Trump’s worst excesses. It likely does mean, though, that she represents the best possibility for liberal outcomes at the Court and that litigants will need to court her as a possible swing vote the way they once did Anthony Kennedy.
Unfortunately, Kennedy was a swing vote on a Court otherwise split ideologically down the middle, meaning each side needed him for that critical fifth vote. Conservatives can lose Barrett and still have five votes. Barrett knows this, which makes her principled dissents ring a bit hollow.
Barrett can afford to make herself look moderate if doing so doesn’t result in Trump’s desires being thwarted. It’s not incorrect to say she might be the best hope for liberals, but that hope is a pretty slender reed.

"I would like Harry to be remembered for his great songwriting skills, his voice and the great performer he is, but everything is so overshadowed by the rest that in 20, 30 years I don't know if he will be remembered as one of the greatest of our generation (and he deserves it so much). I just think there's too much noise overshadowing his music"
I'm the say ranting anon as yesterday and I was gonna leave it at that but I saw this and I think is an interesting topic so I'm gonna rant a little bit more (sorry in advance).
It's impossible for anyone to know how is Harry gonna be remembered 30 years from now but what we can do is trying to compare him with the artist we consider legends today.
Lets take Elton John, Freddy Mercury, Prince, George Michael, Madonna, Whitney Houston and David Bowie for example... Each and every single one of them is considered a legend, the most successful in their field, the ones current artist use as inspiration and what they aspire to be. You know what else they have in common? Careers full of rumors, cheating scandals, drugs scandals, gay scandals, failed marriages, fake marriages, money problems, etc, etc, etc.
But those are no the things they're remember for, at the end their music and their art is soo good and made such an impact that all the "noise" sorrounding their careers just take a passive role.
I mean, as a fan, leaving through the rumors and all the nonsense is annoying as fuck and I would love if when I spoke about Harry people ONLY asked me about his music because he is so much more than his supposed girlfriends but what can I do?
And of course it is possible to be successful in the industry without playing the game, I wasn't trying to imply Zayn isn't but there's levels to that success, at least in the eyes of the general public.
Like let's be honest, all 5 of the boys has had a successful solo career so far but which one of them is more likely to achieve the legend status your anon is talking about??? Everyone under the sun knows the answer is Harry.
And why is that? It's not because he's has a powerful voice or because he's an excellent lyricist or because he's and incredible performer. Of course he's all that. But the reason he has achieved so much and is probably get the legend status someday is because how his team has marketed him. I'm sorry but without Columbia and the azzoffs Harry wouldn't be where he is today 🤷♀️ They're horrible people but they sure as hell know what they're doing and Harry is happy with their job and where his career is going so...
Yep. Marketing really does make a difference.
There’s something unquantifiable about the artists you mention, though. Take Madonna, for example. Cyndi Lauper came out at the same time. She had a much better voice. Her singles were huge. She had a great look. She definitely had fans (still does), but Madonna had that extra something that drew the masses in and kept them there (and oh my god did she have scandals and gossip galore—some of them very purposely manufactured).
And I agree with you about the Azoffs/Sony/Harry’s team. They’re taking him where he wants to go.

100 Great Albums from 2024.
OK…
I listened to a lot of music this year, and I am not going to prattle on about it all this time because there's too much. These are the albums that came out this year that I really liked. They aren't in a specific order, but they are in a general order (closer to the top just means I listened to it more often, or responded enthusiastically/felt really strongly about it). I have been doing a lot of radio this year, and so I've listened to so much music. It's not trying to be a definitive top 100 list, I am sure I missed some gems, but these are things I personally liked. Then there are some special mentions at the end that include some reissues that include some reworked/additional material, and some compilations/live albums as well. Genres are all over the place, from heavy to light to weird to weirder. Check things out and enjoy the adventure.

introduction to my marauders base reality ☆⋆。𖦹°‧★

the girl: charlotte jane lupin (lola) ✩°。⋆✮
twin sister of remus john lupin, everyone knows her for her love of books, the colour red and fleetwood mac. you could often find her in her Gryffindor common room hanging out with her best friends, Lily Evans, Marlene McKinnon and Mary Macdonald - probably listening to music on a record player they stole from Sirius Black. Her best subjects would probably be History of Magic, Divination and Charms- but her favourite would have definitely been astronomy. Like fate, her s/o is also left up to the whims of the planets- though emmeline vance catches her eye often. She has never liked the name Charlotte- so insists on being called Lola- though her mum still calls her Charlie.

the brother: remus john lupin (moony) ☽。⋆
the one person lola can tell anything too. the one person remus has never hid anything from, because lola has been through is worst and best days alongside him. Being the boyfriend of sirius black , remus naturally loved queen, david bowie and T.Rex - but his mother had made sure his favourite form of entertainment was reading. Remus was a fan of taking his mind off things, as well as being the smartest in the room- so his default setting was studying- making him be the top in nearly every subject (much to Lola's annoyance). Though, if Remus had to pick a favourite- Defence against the Dark arts would be it.

the dorm: Marls, Mary and Lily ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
Lola's best friends in the whole wide world were her gryffindor dorm mates. Lily Evans was her #1. Them and Remus would just sit and talk, or read, or study for hours on end and have the best time ever. Most nights Lola would climb into Lily's bed and they would just gossip, when the deep convos ran out, and look up at the four poster bed. Mary Macdonald was 'that girl'. The biggest girls' girl you could ever find- she would literally light up every room. Hanging out with her was always so fun, even when doing something as 'dull' as looking at magazines. She really was the glue of the valkyries- and helped organise every girls trip to Hogsmeade or birthday party. Marlene McKinnon, or Marls, was the coolest person Lola had ever met - including Sirius Black. Being a beater on the quidditch team was enough, but the way she dressed and the effortless way she did everything solidified it. Marlene McKinnon was the first to say when something was unfair and you knew when she was advocating for something it would happen.

the boys: james, peter, sirius and remus 𖤓✩☽𖦹
James Potter, Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black were Remus Lupins dorm mates- and best friends. James Potter , was possibly the sun of everyone's lives. The most selfless person Lola knew, but still somehow goofy and a jock at the same time. James Potter loved a lot of things, but charms, his mum, his mum's signature curry and Regulus Black were at the top. James' brother in all ways but blood was Sirius Black. The second coolest person Lola knew. His ability to simultaneously care desperately about what everyone thought of him whilst also not giving two shits was deeply hilarious to Lola- but overall thought her brother had good taste, and approved. Sirius was the smartest person Lola knew who didn't have to work for it at all- preferring to frolic around the grounds as a dog- or annoy Remus, Lily and Lola whilst they worked. Peter Pettigrew (pete), was the funniest person Lola knew, and secretly her favourite of Remus' best mates. Peter was the one to give James and Sirius stomach pains from laughing at the back of transfiguration, and Lola often thought it was a shame for him that he didn't get to experience hearing himself tell a story- as she never laughs harder. Peter also was brilliant at Art- managing to convince Hogwarts to add the extra curricular to the spec to achieve his childhood dream of creating cartoons for the daily prophet.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ i hope you enjoyed ˚୨୧ ⋆。˚。⋆

2024 MOVIE LIST

🎃HALLOWEEN 2024🎃
I watched Tourist Trap (1979)
Here it is, the end of Halloween 2024: 1970's Horror.
A group of friends fall prey to a masked maniac.
Agatha Christie, Italian Giallos, "Psycho", "Black Christmas", "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", and John Carpenter's "Halloween" all led up to the 1980's slasher film craze within the horror genre.
Here at the tail end of the 1970's is "Tourist Trap". A bit of a whodunnit, a lot of a slasher, and a film that falls somewhere between "so bad it's good" and genuinely scary.
Produced by B-cinema legend Charles Band, starring film and television star Chuck Connors, and directed by "Puppet Master" director David Schmoeller, "Tourist Trap" tied a bow on the 1970's and ushered in the 1980's.
The film itself is cliche by today's standards. Young people go on vacation, start getting picked off by a masked killer, a twist comes along, and so on and so forth. And, to be fair, the twist can be seen coming from miles away, so it's not really a twist. The tone changes from creepy to kooky to basic and bland. The characters are one note and the whole thing could be better.
However, this film does something amazing. Despite being rather generic and tame and poorly made, "Tourist Trap" is real goddamn creepy. The mannequins, the screaming dolls faces, the killer's masks, the dark indoor lighting, the SECOND TWIST! There are rock solid freaky moments in this film...and it has a great ending.
If you want a horror film that gives you the spooky feels on Halloween night and leaves you more creeped out than when it found you, this is definitely for you.
(And, with that, Halloween 2024: 1970's Horror comes to an end.
It was a fun ride. I learned that the 1970's, like every other decade, has something to offer in the horror genre outside it's most well known titles and blockbusters. There are tons of American and Foreign films to choose from. There is a style all it's own to this decade, and that style changes and molds throughout its ten year time-span.
I'm sure there are plenty more gems to find.)

Cullens favorite types of movies? Also, I'm so happy to see a twilight saga blog in the year 2023 - it's so wild
Carlisle - Of course Carlisle likes older movies. There's no real genre, but if it's in black and white then he's probably a fan. He really adores the classics, and some of his favorites are Citizen Kane, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Maltese Falcon.
Esme - Esme is such a sucker for romance of all kinds, but classic romance can bring her to her knees. She loves a bittersweet ending, and she is TOTALLY a hallmark Christmas movie mom. She was a die hard Casablanca fan and a year cannot pass without her watching It's A Wonderful Life at least four times. Anything that makes her heart ache, she adores.
Edward - This dramatic asshole. Claims that he really only likes inspirational foreign French films because of the ~drama~ but you know what??? he secretly watches romance movies with Esme, not that it's actually a secret because everyone already knows. Pretty Woman? Yes. 10 Things I Hate About You? Absolutely. If he had the ability to cry, he definitely would have after watching A Walk to Remember.
Rosalie - Rosalie likes sci-fi and fantasy movies. Labyrinth is a special favorite, though it might be because of her crush on David Bowie. She was surprised at how much she enjoyed The Shape of Water, but you're more likely going to find her watching something like Close Encounters of the Third Kind or The Princess Bride.
Emmett - Emmett dabbles in movies - he really likes a bit of everything. Drama, comedy, action, fantasy - he wouldn't say he actually has a favorite. He thinks comedy might take precedence; he's a huge fan of anything by Mel Brooks.
Jasper - He hates how stereotypical it is, but he loves Westerns. He's seen pretty much everything that John Wayne has ever been in. Really, anything to do with history will be ok for him to watch, though it took him a while to be comfortable with some of the Civil War era movies. Loves The Patriot and Braveheart, though he isn't a fan of Mel Gibson, and Black Beauty has a special place in his heart.
Alice - Alice likes all of those corny teen romance films, like Princess Diaries or She's the Man. She isn't sure why, but they really make her happy!! They're always so cute and quirky, she adores them so much.
