Funny little (and a bit lackluster) inktober thing I made for myself, that I’ll post sketches for each 3 days! Just so I’ll actually draw something this month.

Day 1: Pezzy!! I already draw him with soda-like liquid so I thought I’d draw him cuz I wasn’t feeling like drawing gore at the time!

Day 2: Crowned Prince! Tango!! He’s just a little guy! And I don’t draw him much at all anymore so I wanted to! And I like the crown design a little.

by the time something went wild bc whenever the rocks are involved, something always goes wrong, you guys definitely got very close!

okay so long story short, mariya's only a few years older than you, so she's 17-18

she took you in bc idk ur parents left you or smth and you went to an orphanage and got adopted by mariya

well she didn't take you in, her older sister rosalyne did :3

but rosalynes dead now xoxo

so that's when mari stepped in to fulfill her older sister's dream of eternity and bringing peace between people !!

you were 12 when rosalyne died; when you first met mari, she seemed really intimidating and angry (like younger shinobu, so that's why i added her as the photo :3)

rosalyne however, was very gentle and kind and she saw the best in everyone (like rapunzel !)

the reason why she wanted her eternity was because of how her husband died and he said she was pretty like his eternal love for her or smth idrk i'm literally dying of laughter rn writing this sorry

but idrk how rosalyne died, she probs js tripped on a knife and it stabbed her or sum but she's dead for the sake of the plot ☠️☠️

but yeah, mari stepped in and basically mimicked everything about rosalyne and kept her anger to herself (shinobu kinnie guys xx)

anyways, back to varian

once you were back to rapunzel's palace so you could meet all of her friends, varian saw you

he wasn't the type of boy who believes in love at first sight; but let me tell you somethin' !!

since he was the royal engineer, one of his inventions went kinda wrong and he was walking around to greet rapunzel with black smoke on his face, but not on his eyes thanks to his goggles, and messy ass hair ://

he was originally gonna find more mechanics to use but he heard raps' voice so he went to go see her

and then he saw you

this was the first time he ever stared at someone so much, not even when he had a puppy crush on cassandra

and the way the golden hour's light shone on one half of your face, it made you look angelic !

and when you opened your closed eyed smile, the light was obsorbed by the swirls of your iris (idk wtf an iris is i js saw it once in a book i thibk)

and then raps n you saw varian just standing there like he witnessed two people having the devils tango 😨😨

you ended up giggling slightly due to his current state and you brought your hand out, whilst introducing yourself, for a handshake

you looked at him so purely

anyways, you guys got close after talking about alchemy ig idrk my head hurts like crazy

and when he frfr realised he was inlove with you was when he was trying to sleep, and he looked out of a window and saw a pretty flower

then he clocked it

omg, hi, hiii!!! i just really like to talk to people but i'm little tired of capturing other blogs like i used to bc rn my little goal is to make cool designs for royal au and theres no interesting stuff i could just say without someone asking me about it

ooooh, ranking is cool! for me, as you can tell, solidaritimes is the most important one. i have them in many aus even if its just "they was learning how to kiss on each other in the middle school under the staircase bc jimmy was too awkward to tell scott that he doesn't know how to kiss" or a literal au where scar is stuck on empires smp season two bc grian felt betrayed

also my favorite one is zedlidarity c: they are so cool, i have three aus with them (i still like team blossom + jimmy, they are adorable). zed is more bold i may say in what he talk and do and butt jokes are funny from him, okay

the next one... ranchers. im not talking about them a lot (but im doing them in royal au) but they are cute, especially compared to other jimmy ships and how people treat jimmy... tango is a good guy

solidarian. i have some guys that ship them. i mostly see them as brothers, but i could see them as lovers too (not brothers then), i drew them as well

neutral for me - impulse/jimmy bc im mostly scarpulse person, sorry. mirror birds, romeo ships them, i think they could be cute but im not doing anything with martyn at all. jimmy/mumbo, jimmy/etho, jimmy/bigb are all the same, im not so interested in this all, but i can see them being cute (tho mumbo is not really my guy at all)

flower husbands are controversial, i like them being bad, to show scott as guy thats not good example for a relationships. i know this is not very smart to say, but i really cant see arts of them being happy and stuff, i think about how scott treated jim and :( tho i can see other ships with scott as something cool (majorwood, copper husband that are not allowed but no one can go into my brain and just kill all the thoughts about them)

smallidarity (is thats the name)? i can see bad boys all together but bc of how i started to watch empires... i was really afraid and mad at joel and im on my way to like this guy a lot, but empires god joel is still in my nightmares (not really, but thinking of him is terrifying me a lot)

fwimmy (i think thats the name) is 100% not for me, kinda the same reason as the previous one, but without fear + fwip is not my guy at all

and oh why thank you! i really appreciate the words ♡ i have some problems that i see my arts like those kid fandom drawings, that i could be proud so much bc i made something but others sees it like ew cringe... im working on it, changing some stuff, learning so i could be more confident about my arts (i always wanted to be like the cool artist with realistic style that can be kinda stylized, but im not sure if i want this for myself rn, i like my style, it just need some changes, like eyes and maybe colors)

Mem! Do you have any thoughts on 3rd life compared to last life?

ooh very interesting question, there's definitely i have a lot to say on this subject

i will say, i enjoyed both of them a lot. like a Lot. stares at my blog. but i am definitely more critical of last life - while i appreciate wanting to change things up and make them more exciting, which worked for the most part, i do think that in making some of those changes, you lose some of the magic of the simplicity of 3rd life.

3rd life is, essentially, a vanilla series with a limit of 3 lives and a world border. the rules are easy to grasp, and so... unobtrusive? that the series ended up being extremely story driven. the rules don't really impact anything other than the length of the series and the point at which people are allowed to kill each other. the reason for them killing each other was entirely their own choice. last life, on the other hand, had mechanics actively designed to force kills every episode: the boogeyman and the red lives alliance rule. this forces getting kills into the spotlight, often (though definitely not always) at the cost of natural story progression. in particular, the final couple of sessions felt very stilted to me, because all alliances had effectively been broken long ago; there was no real investment left in any faction other than grian and joel staying together until the end. it was just a battle royale. as much as i liked the whole "zombie apocalypse" vibes of sessions 7 and 8 in particular, session 9 fell a little flat for me. it was just fighting for the sake of fighting. and while i thought scott's victory was very poetic, the buildup to it? not so much.

however. last life was still a fantastic series. its main charm point to me was how these new mechanics gave focus to everyone. i still have not seen every 3rd life pov, or even half of them. and though i definitely do intend to watch them all, a lot of them are quite far down my priority list compared to other series rn, because i think you can safely say that 3rd life objectively does have main characters: namely, its four sets of duos. the others are great, but you do not need to watch very many povs at all to understand the main conflict. last life, on the other hand, doesn't have a main conflict. which made watching every pov every week so much more entertaining. there was a new thing in every video, a new reason to care about all seventeen videos each week. it was a lot, but it was SO worth it. every faction had equal importance in last life, and it was so much fun to watch them all and put together a true picture of what was going on in all corners of the server. which, again, all 3rd life povs are certainly good, but it ended in two distinct sides. last life was messy. in a good way.

i think some of the mechanics changes in last life may have detracted from what i initially liked about 3rd life, but they still made for an excellent series. the boogeyman mechanic? complex and forced kills for no reason, sure, but it also provided an excuse to put lesser known members in the spotlight. even if a player wasn't involved in a boogey kill, they'd often include their reaction to seeing the death in chat, which then incentivises people to go check out the players involved in it. and, again, it added to each faction's storyline to make them all equally important. the "red lives must break alliances" rule made alliances feel more fruitless sometimes especially at the end, but largely made for some really well-done goodbyes (or lack thereof, in bdubs' case). like, i have written essays before on session four of last life being my favourite episode of any mcyt series ever, and i fully stand by this. THAT is how you execute this sort of rule.

the life exchange feature made for some great moments: scar taking advantage of it to do Soul Capitalism, tango the life dispenser, etc. but the life exchange feature could never have worked so effectively without adding the extra lives, it'd effectively be one time use if you only had three lives maximum. extra lives also offset the change in pace that so many boogey kills would have caused. so even though i felt it went against the whole concept of 3rd life, and i wasn't too keen on seeing some players start on two lives, i do appreciate what these mechanics brought to the series and why they were all necessary to balance each other out.

so to conclude!!! i love both series! maybe i'm just a grumpy mentally-old lady who doesn't like change, but i don't think criticism of a thing you love is bad. it might not be what i originally fell in love with the series for, but i suppose as the name change suggests, last life is not 3rd life. it wasn't supposed to be, and maybe that's a good thing, because even before last life started i said i was apprehensive about trying to recreate 3rd life. it was magical in a very unique way. so i think ultimately i'm glad they went in a new direction for last life - it's not its predecessor, it doesn't pretend to be, and it very firmly cements itself as a fantastic but entirely different series. even if it's not perfect.
