Just rewatched the episode and omg the kitchen scene. Absolute cinema. Eddie just walking in calmly seeing the groceries seeing buck and then realising buck is pissed about something. It's so married coded. How many times have i seen arguments like this. Starting off small innocuous and then the actual problem comes out. The tension the acting... just chefs kiss. How both are hurting and just want the other to hug them. The lighting the cinematography. Hands down one of my favourite scenes in the show if not one my favorite buddie scene.

Only wish they hadn't had Ryan do the move forward and point at buck thing. Only because all I see are bad takes and ammunition for that Fandom that it's ruining my experience. I know I know I should ignore them but when it comes to Eddie i can't help it😅. Also made me wonder how the GA took this as. A scene between 'bros'? Or actually intimate moment? Do they even understand Eddie's characterization?

Anyway I'm gonna go and watch it again. Need to feed this into my veins.

I've combined these three asks, because they all touch upon a few topics I really wanted to talk about.

First of all, OH GOD YES! That scene was literal gold. It was soooo good! The acting was top notch, the direction and camera work were both amazing. Oliver was great as always and Ryan... well, that man has been showing us time and time again that he is one of the better actors on this show. They are all great, but that kitchen scene was on another level. I have rewatched it a billion times already! 😄

Both Buck and Eddie were at their most vulnerable in this scene. They wanted to show us that these two men KNOW each other through and through and even though they are hurting and grieving, they can still call each other out for their bullshit. It was like watching a married couple getting into a heated disagreement. Pure gold.

I'm also pretty sure the GA has caught on what is going on by now. 8x11 was very clear on the Buddie of it all. Then we had all those Facetime calls in 12 and 13. A lot of these people have been watching these kinds of procedurals for a very long time. 8x17 just made it more clear where this story is headed. They can see it coming.

Now for the discourse part of this reply:

I agree that it is VERY frustrating that some people have started using very loaded words, such as 'abuse' and 'assault', when it comes to Eddie's behaviour in the kitchen scene.

Especially because there is not an ounce of truth in any of their statements. In fact, most of these allegations are made because Eddie is clearly being set up as Buck's great big true love interest. And some fans do not agree with that, because they want Buck with someone else. So basically these 'abuse' or 'assault' claims are being made over a ship, which is frankly insane.

The way I look at it is that the majority of fans are extremely happy with the episode and especially this kitchen scene. But a small part of the 911 fandom have disliked and hated Eddie ever since BT happened. That hasn't changed. It never will, because Eddie is in the way of a plot device that used to be a racist and misogynistic bully. 🙄

And rereading that last sentence? Well, the fact that they keep stanning their own very problematic white man while openly hating on a half-Mexican man who had a short heated discussion with Buck? Tells me enough.

As for those few Buddie shippers/Buck stans who are also hating on Eddie? Pfff, again... nothing new, is it? Their precious Buckaroo needs to be protected at all times. Poor baby. 🙄

They refuse to let go of any of the arguments Buddie have ever had and where Eddie said something hurtful to Buck. I swear... the amount of times I still read about the whole 'You are exhausting' thing that Eddie once said SEASONS ago, is insane.

Why are people still stuck on that one line? Buck has long forgotten about that line, but some people still cling to it as some kind of misguided proof of abuse.

It's a dramatic TV-show! There will be drama between the characters! That's what makes these shows so interesting.

Buck is a grown man. He doesn't need coddling or babying. Having these kinds of confrontations and discussions will make him think and it will help his character evolve. There is no need to keep Buck into this 'oh poor baby' state of mind. Let him out!

Also, I don't think that any of these people yelling abuse know what they are talking about in the first place. Social media has really given a lot of people a skewed image of wat abuse really looks like.

Having a heated argument in the kitchen is NOT abuse. Using your finger to angrily point at someone is NOT abuse. Showing someone that you are also grieving and in pain? THAT IS NOT ABUSE!

It's frankly disturbing that people seem to have convinced themselves it is actual abuse, especially in a show that has shown us REAL abuse with the Maddie & Doug storyline.

If what happened in that kitchen between Eddie and Buck was abuse? My entire family, myself included, would be 'abusers'. I come from a passionate family and we have these kinds of arguments a lot. 😆 Half an hour later all is forgiven and forgotten again. 🤷‍♀️

I'm currently reading Nothing Butt Nightwing and I adore this comic series. It's the right amount of serious and silly. The art is reminding me of an old comic series I read online. If you are talking about HP characters in the 70's how else do you tag them but by using the Maurauder's Era tag? I'm today years old after being a fan since '98 finding out that this entire era is currently being gatekept by people with specific elaborate headcanons about characters who exist on five lines of text or less and have 0 physical descriptions.

Are we really going to throw around accusations of racism as if they are real historical people who need to be defended from being whitewashed? Whatever fanfic or headcanon long post you read that said Mary Macdonald was anything other than that girl Lily once used to dismiss the bullying of her male friend is neither undeniable fact nor a personal attack. If someone has a different headcanon than you, scroll on. I think a lot of canon ships in a lot of the media I fangirl about are underbaked, but you won't see me attacking real humans because of how they make the paper dolls kiss even if I find some of them problematic. I just scroll on because that's not for me. Yes even if it is in a tag with stuff I do want to see provided the tag makes sense.

Someone posting a headcanon with correct tags that doesn't match what your circle of friends have as a headcanon is not only inevitable but also not a commentary on your headcanon. Someone tagging Draco Malfoy on an analysis post that ships him with Parkinson isn't incorrect or homophobic due to the canon ship or the popularity of Drarry, it's the correct tag for that character analysis - and that's a character we know more than just the gender and a single fact about!

The characters are fictional. You can't offend a paper doll. You shouldn't defend a paper doll in ways that hurt real humans. If you identify so strongly with the paper doll that someone having a different headcanon (yes, even an offensive one, even one that invokes slavery, even one that makes no sense to you, even the coldest bad take) makes you this angry please go take that energy offline. Go call your real life political representative to chime in some real life solutions to whatever you think would improve the world. Go rage clean your bathroom. Go for that jog you've been meaning to have. Even if you are ten billion percent correct, you aren't going to convince anyone to not be racist this way and you are only giving a person you hate a bigger platform to say stuff you disagree with from.

The only reason I'm seeing this is because of all the energy ya'll are pumping into the drama and harassment. It's in suggested posts being pushed to people seven degrees of separation removed from this thing. also think it's fun if Tim is sort of tense, expecting Oliver to put his foot down and tell Tim no. like he's not used to a vigilante parental figure who's actually good at the parent part, so it's weird having this level of freedom, esp when he knows Oliver does disapprove. but Oliver lets Tim figure out hs own love life and make his own mistakes, even if he's ranting to Dinah about Jason until two in the morning. it doesn't help that Jason makes no move to try to get along with Oliver. he's just a shit to be a shit. at this point Tim is pretty sure Jason enjoys driving Oliver up a wall more than he enjoys dating Tim. who's to say if it's true.

I know why people don't like Turnabout Bigtop. I am among the people who dislike Turnabout Bigtop.

But I GET why people like the case. I'm not going to be one of those annoying people who just blindly dump on it because I hate those mfs too.

Thing about Bigtop isn't that it sucks. Thing isn't the weird grooming stuff (though that is a huge part of it). It's not that it could've been good.

It's that - in my personal OPINION - it could have been *great*.

I think it had the potential to be one of the best third cases in the trilogy. It had everything; a fun and goofy setting fit for a pretty dang goofy lawyer game - where the environment itself had jokes and quips and one-liners and mishaps and tomfoolery written all over it, it had the previous case introducing a very interesting and important plotline that gave background for one of the more well-loved characters while also introducing an equally fucked up and lovable new one who was a child forced into a shit childhood of naivete in a CIRCUS with another character who was very naive and childish - whose interactions could have been funny and cute and reflective of said shit from the previous case (seriously she becomes such an important character in the 4th case, WHY would they not include her in this one for some character development? How did they fuck up letting a CHILD explore a CIRCUS?? That would have made the interactions flow MUCH better).

They had a pretty good, sympathetic killer imo, a morally dubious victim, an asshole of a client (who was pretty flat admittedly in-game, but I like his weird, topsy-turvy reasoning for it in the anime. Also, I think Max being kinda a dick would have bode well for the themes of Farewell since most of his clients up to this point have been like...nice? Not nice, but sympathetic, but him having to defend someone who's innocent but a prick would have shown him that just because someone is an asshole, doesn't mean they deserve to suffer for it and that they have the potential to grow as people, which is almost a complete foil to what Matt was. Ultimately, I would have loved the contrast of them as clients and I think it would have also served as character development for Phoenix, especially with his low-empathy tendencies).

They just didn't think that far ahead. They just didn't execute it well enough. They just decided to make three of the adult characters fight for the hand in marriage of a teenage girl. (Bat's part of the story was actually kinda good if he was just YOUNGER, I think him doing that for Regina would have been a stupid thing someone in the circus would do to impress their crush. Damn you Ace Attorney and your weird treatment of underage girls!!)

It just flopped and that's ok.

Even though it kinda sucked, it can still mean something to me.

Random thought I've been thinking

Really bothers me how Kilorn's disdain for Cal in GS is boiled down into being primarily made up of jealously over Cal's abilities and his relationship to Mare when Kilorn has every reason to hate Cal and have no respect for him whatsoever.

Kilorn in RQ is nearly sent to his death in war that isn't his to fight and the only reason he avoids it is because Mare saves him after being held captive by the royal family. He's lived in oppression his entire life and Cal is at the very top of the ladder. Cal is heir to the throne that oppresses Kilorn and RQ ends with Cal arresting Mare to have her killed. Kilorn has every reason to hate him, so for Mare, and the narrative by extension, to treat it as something he needs to get over is wild.

I think what disappoints me the most about this is that it could've been used to show how utterly disconnected from Reds Cal is by this point. Have Kilorn hate Cal because Cal is the physical representation of the system that has oppressed Kilorn, and his people, for his entire life. Have him resent Cal for what he did to Mare, Farely, and the Guard as a whole in RQ. And then have Cal's disdain come from something as childish as Kilorn's annoying and Cal is jealous over his bond with Mare- show how disconnected Cal is from the Red's he wants to rule over that he can't even understand the core of why one would hate him so much.
