Summary: anon request - "I was actually wondering if you could write an imagine with Colby and his s/o is 6-7 months pregnant. And just like what he would do with the baby bump,  how he would take care of her and just a day in their life with her pregnant... I hope that makes sense. Thank you!"
Warnings: no warnings, fluff

You smiled down at the tiny onesie in your lap, mind racing about how fast these last few months are really going to go.
You place the onesie in the drawer with the rest of the tiny clothing. You sigh as you look around the neatly decorated nursery, thinking about everything you have and everything you still have to get.
"Hey." Colby's voice is quiet and raspy, "Whatcha doin' up so early?" He walk over to you, bending down to kiss your head.
You smile and close your eyes as you feel his lips press to your forehead, "I had to pee, again." You laugh and look over at him as he sits down next to you, "then I just couldn't get comfortable and I didn't want to wake you with my constant tossing and turning."
He shakes his head, "Would have been fine, babe." He smiles and reaches over to grab a onesie from the laundry basket, "I can't believe she'll be here soon."
You lay your hands on your belly, feeling your baby girl swim around, "She loves the sound of your voice."
He smiles and glances down at your belly, "Yeah?"
You nod, "Yeah. She moves every time you talk." You reach your hand out, "Feel." He gives you his hand, letting you guide it to your belly.
His eyes go wide, "Whoa. She's really awake this morning."
You laugh slightly, "also why I couldn't get comfy." He gives you a small smile, "I'm sorry, y/n." You shake your head, "No, baby. Don't be sorry."
You run your nails gently over his hand, "I'm so excited to see you hold her." A big smile appears on his face and he sighs, "I'm actually so scared. Shes going to be so fragile and I-"
"Colby. Honey. You are going to be the absolute best daddy to her. You already love her so, so much and I know you won't let anything happen to her." You reach up, laying a hand on his cheek and he nods, "You're right."
"Of course I am." You laugh slightly and he rolls his eyes, "Yeah, yeah. Did you eat yet?"
You shake your head, "Alright." He stands up, "I'll call you when it's ready. Any specific cravings this morning?"
You purse your lips, thinking for a second before you smirk, "Chocolate."
He chuckles and gives you a thumbs up, "Got it."
You watch him walk out of the room before you look back, taking in everything as you gently rub your growing bump.
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
After breakfast and having a deep conversation about what's to come, you make your way to the couch and switch on the tv.
"So I was thinking.." Colby walks over and sits behind you. You lean back against his chest and lay your head back, "Thinking about what?"
"I was thinking about staying home today, hanging out with you and bean." He pokes your belly gently and you laugh slightly, "Don't you and Sam have that meeting today?"
He shrugs, "Yeah, but it can be moved to tomorrow or something." He kisses your head, "I just want to see you." His hands slide onto your belly as he rests his chin on your shoulder.
"Whatever you want to do, babe." You reach up, gently scratching his neck as you close your eyes.
"Why don't you take a nap. You were up early and I know just how tired you get." His fingers gently scratch over your bump, "I'll call Sam when you get up or something." You nod, already feeling like you could fall asleep.
Ah hour and a half later, you wake up, Colby still sitting behind you, "Get a good nap in?"
"You could have moved if you wanted to." You mumble, rubbing your eyes as you sit up. Colby placing his hands on your shoulders, leaning up, "I didn't want to."
You laugh slightly, turning so you can get up, "This baby is pushing on my bladder."
"I'm sure that's uncomfortable." He looks up at you and you nod, "Very much so." You waddle to the bathroom, sitting there for a few minutes as you fully wake up.
You stand in front of the mirror, eyes glued to your bump as if you're waiting to be woken from some sort of dream.
"Everything okay in there?" Colby gently knocks on the door and you smile, turning to open it.
Ever since you found out you were pregnant, Colby has been glued to your side. Always making sure you were okay, comfortable, cravings filled.
You really feel like you and Colby grew closer, all thanks to, as Colby calls her because you have no name yet, Bean.
"Yes. Everything came out okay." You joke as you walk into him, laying your head on his chest.
"Were you admiring the bump?" He chuckles and looks down at you as you nod, "Yeah, sometimes it just doesn't feel real."
He nods, "I know what you mean. I'm always staring at you, I just absolutely love you with this baby bump."
You look up at him, "Really?"
With all the good things that come with pregnancy, there's also bad things, such as insecurity, weight gain, swelling and mood swings, but Colby doesn't mind one bit.
"Really. You've opened up a whole other side to being beautiful and I can't get enough of it." He kisses your cheek and moves down, caressing your belly with his hands, "You're the best mama to bean, I know it."
He gently presses his lips to your shirt covered bump and the baby starts kicking and twirling like crazy.
"Whoa." He laughs, "She must really like me."
"I told you." You laugh as you run your hand through his hair, "It's every time you talk."
He stands back up, "l love you both." You smile as he leans in to kiss you.
"We love you." You wrap your arm around his back as he walks you back out to the couch, "I'm going to call Sam quick, see if we can change that meeting."
You nod, sitting down, "Why don't you see if you can do a phone meeting or something." He looks at you and you shrug, "I just know this is an important meeting and I just don't want to cause an inconvenience to anyone."
He sits down next to you, "You aren't and never will be an inconvenience. I can promise you that."
You sigh, trying to fight back the tears and Colby shakes his head, "Hey, hey. What's wrong?"
You sniffle, "I don't know.. I just.. I'm just so happy." You laugh as a tear rolls down your cheek, "And now I want a cheeseburger."
Colby pulls you to him, laughing slightly, "What an emotional rollercoaster." He pulls his phone out, bringing it up to his ear.
You look up at him, "What's are you doing?"
"Calling Sam. He'll bring you a cheeseburger." He laughs and you pout, "Colby."
"Hey, brother. I have a favor to ask." Colby laughs and looks down at you, "She's good, yeah. I was just going to see if you could come over, and bring cheeseburgers with you." He nods, "Yeah, she wants a cheeseburger."
You laugh and sniffle, "tell him bean and I love him."
"He said he loves you girls too and he'll be here in fifteen." Colby glances down at you and you nod, "Okay."
"Yeah, thank you. Uh huh. See ya." Colby hangs up and kisses your head, "Uncle Sam's on his way to save the day."
Colby sets his phone down and wraps his arm around you, "Sam is going to be beans favorite uncle."
"I agree with you. He'll do anything for her." You rub your belly and take a deep breath, "Have you thought of a name yet?"
He sighs, "I've been thinking, but nothing really sticks." He lays a hand on yours, "maybe once we see her we'll know."
You shrug, "Maybe. I just feel like she needs a name." You close your eyes, emotions taking over and Colby kisses your head, holding you a little bit tighter, "Hey. She'll get one. Okay? She won't be bean no name her whole life."
You laugh and shake your head, "You're right." You sit up, looking at him, "Thank you for always being here." He leans in, kissing your lips, "You'd have to bury me to get me away."
You laugh and lay a hand on his cheek, "That's not happening."
"Good. I was kinda scared you'd consider it." He jokes and you roll your eyes, "Oh yeah, all the time." You smirk and stand up, "I'm going to go change."
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
"Hey, hey, hey." Sam says as he walks through the door, "Someone order a few cheeseburgers?"
You walk over to him, taking the bag from his hands, "You're a life saver." He smiles and lays an arm over your shoulder, "anything for my niece."
You laugh, shaking your head as you focus on finally getting to eat the burger you've been non stop thinking about, "Where's Colby?"
"Baby's room." You say before you take a bite, "He's putting together her bassinet." You cover your mouth with your hand as you chew.
Sam nods, walking back the small hallway, "Daddy, where are you?"
You roll your eyes, laughing as you hear Colby say in a girly tone, "In here, sweetie."
You sit down on the chair, continuing to eat as you wait for them to come out, "That was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life." Colby walks over to you, "I pinched my finger three times, but it's finally together and looking cute in the corner."
You smile slightly, reaching out to take his hand to look, "Are you okay?"
He nods, "Oh yeah, I'm good, also. We're going to just do that meeting via zoom today here if that's alright."
You nod, "That's fine, whatever you need to do."
"How was the burger? Satisfy your cravings?" Sam asks with a laugh and you nod, "you have no idea."
Sam stares at you for a few seconds, looking up at Colby and shaking his head, “I can’t believe that Colby is going to be a dad.”
“I can’t believe it either, Sam.” Colby rubs his hand up and down your back, “I think I’m more scared of this than I am when we were staying a week at the conjuring house.”
“That was terrifying.” Sam sits down, “Got a name yet?”
You shake your head, “Not yet. We’re hoping to come up with one soon. That the only stresser right now.”
Sam nods, “Samantha is a really good name.” He smirks, “Oh, or Sammie.. that’s adorable.”
“I think we should tell him.” Colby looks at you and you nod, “Yeah, he kinda just opened the bag and let the cat out.”
“I did what?” Sam tilts his head and laughs and you look over at him, “Her middle name will be Samantha after the best uncle she could ask for.”
“Excuse me.” Sam gets up, walking back the hall and you hear a loud, sarcastically dramatic sob. He walks back out, calm and cool, “That’s amazing.”
Colby laughs and walks over to hug him, they do their little spiel about being brothers, blah blah, and you have to pee again.
You make your way to the bathroom then coming out to finish your food. As you’re eating, your phone dings with an email, “Hey Colby.”
“What’s up, babe?” He walks over to you and lays a hand on your hip, “You good?”
You nod, holding up your phone, “Our shower invites are in.” He takes your phone, eyes scanning over the screen, “These are amazing.”
He walks over, “Sam, look at these.”
You never thought that you’d see two ghost hunters freak out over baby shower invitations.
“Those are adorable!” Sam shakes his head, “I’m going to keep mine forever.”
You laugh, “Uh huh.”
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
Later on, after their meeting, you’re scrolling down through the registry, looking at what everyone has gotten you guys so far.
“What else do we need for bean?” You look up, lifting a finger from your fist with each thing you say, “I know we have swaddles, blankets, crib sheets, and everything else I think.”
Colby brushes hair from your face, “Um..” he looks at your phone, watching as your scroll, “I think we have everything that we need for her, and if it’s not here we’ll get it at the shower next month.”
You sigh, “I feel like we’re missing something.”
“Diapers? Can’t have too many of them.” Colby chuckles and you snap your fingers, “I think that’s it!”
He shakes his head, kissing your head, “You need to relax, babe. Just take a minute away from all of that.” You sigh, handing him your phone to take it away from you, “You’re right. Sorry, I just-
“Don’t apologize to me. Everything will be absolutely perfect and we’ll get through it if not. She’s already so spoiled, did you see all the stuff Sam bought?”
You laugh and nod, “She won’t be without anything for a while.”
“Exactly. Now just come here.” He pulls you back into him and you let out a sigh, “I think I’m just trying to keep myself busy so I don’t keep worrying about it all.”
“You’re her mama. It bound to happen, but you can just try and take a breather for one night. Stressing isn’t good for you or her.” He runs his hand up and down your arm, “You’re going to be such a good mama. I promise you.”
You smile, nodding against his chest, “And you’re going to be such a good daddy to her.”
The rest of the night, Colby tries to keep your mind occupied by putting on your favorite show and pampering you in anyway he can.
Lotion on your belly, talking to the baby in gentle tone, and getting you any of your craving that make their way to the surface.
You never thought you’d be here, but you couldn’t be more thankful for Colby and all he does for you.

Tumblr media
Chris POV
“No Y/n I promise it’s not a live animal,” I say into the phone, gaining a laugh from my girlfriend on the other side.
“What the hell kind of surprise could it be then Chris? You know I hate waiting.” she whines and I grin to myself, knowing she doesn’t have a single clue what’s in store for her once she gets back home.
“What kind of boyfriend would I be if I ruined a surprise?”
“Ugh, I hate you Christopher Owen.”
“I love you too honeybee, drive safe.” I hang up, sitting my phone beside me on the bed and standing up to get my case of supplies from the closet.
Just as I finish making sure everything is sorted and ready, Y/n steps through the door, and I hear her toss her keys and purse onto the table in the entry way. I meet her in the kitchen, stepping behind her as she rummages through the fridge for a drink.
“Missed you baby, how was Target?” I ask, running my hands up and down her soft arms, placing a kiss into her hair.
“I got a bunch of cute Christmas decorations!” She turns to face me, her eyes lighting up. “I need you to help me put them up soon because in my opinion it’s never to early to start decora-“
I cut her off with a kiss, snaking my hand around her waist and to the small of her back, pulling her against my hips to see if she notices my hard on yet or not.
“Chris, I was getting excited to tell you about what all I got,” she gives me those damn puppy dog eyes that she’s so good at and I almost feel guilty for interrupting her, but I know what I have planned will make up for it.
“We’ll talk all about it later honeybee, come to the room.”
I give her another quick peck before taking her hand and guiding her down the hallway. She takes off her shoes and plops down on the bed, taking notice of the black leather case that she hadn’t seen there when she left.
“What’s this?” She reaches her hand out, fiddling with the latch. I smack her hand, enough to sting, and her eyes shoot up to me laced with confusion and shock.
“Did I tell you to open it, baby?” I ask, a new found confidence taking over me.
“Chris, what’s gotten into you?”
I say nothing. Instead I take a step closer to her and grab her hand, guiding her touch from my bare chest all the way down to the stiffness that’s aching in my jeans. She flashes me the smallest little smirk possible, and I know she thinks that she’s caught on.
“You got me a toy didn’t you??” she bites her lip and lightly squeezes my dick, causing it to throb in her hand.
“Mhm, something like that baby.” I reach around her to grab the case, picking it up running my fingers across the latch.
“You remember your safe word, right honeybee?” I ask, looking into her eyes to make sure I want to go through with this.
“Um, yeah? Why would I need it?” she replies so innocently, confusion creeping back into her face. I take my free hand and caress her face, my thumb rubbing across the soft skin of her bottom lip.
“Undress for me. Then sit down and close your eyes.”
She does as she’s told, removing every article of clothing down to her panties and I decide I’d like her to stop there, already having something in mind. “Leave those on for me.”
She sits down onto the edge of the bed, eyes shut tightly, then I slip on my mask, pushing my hair back to keep it out of my face. I can’t say I didn’t feel a little nervous as I pulled the knife out of the case. I run it along my fingertips, getting a feel for the weight and the pressure.
I slowly and carefully bring the tip of the knife against the soft underside of her chin, running it upwards with a featherlight touch and coaxing her to look up. Her eyes shoot open and I can tell she is shocked at the feeling and sight of a cold blade against her skin, and the sight of me in a ghostface mask looking down at her.
“Don’t move, pretty girl. Wouldn’t want a slip up would we?”
I can see the realization in her eyes, but she still gulps and blinks hard a few times, trying to come up with her next move.
Reader POV
“Got it,” I whisper out, trying my best to not move a muscle.
“Such a good girl, always listening so well for me.”
His voice is muffled from the mask covering his face, it’s honestly turning me on to the point I have to clench my thighs together for some sort of friction. The blade is slowly backed away from my chin, dropping to his side as he undoes the button and zipper on his black jeans with his free hand.
“Now if you really want to show me how good you can listen, lay back and spread your legs.” he tilts his head to the side as he demands me.
“O-okay,” I slowly lay back, keeping my position at the end of the bed and opening my legs for him. I feel his warm fingers tracing the fabric of my red panties gently, hooking behind them and slipping them to the side, exposing my dripping core to him.
“Mm, I really like these,” he says lowly before letting go quickly, causing the fabric to slap against my clit. I can’t help but gasp, the sudden sensation both painful and pleasurable.
I watch as he brings the knife to my knee, running it up my thigh at a snails pace until he reaches my hip. His other hand runs up the opposite thigh, warm and tender compared to the cold of the blade. He slips it under the strap of my panties, and in a swift motion the fabric is cut in two. I gasp knowing in my right mind that this is one of my favorite sets, but I know better than to say anything.
“What’s the matter?” he questions, tilting his head and dragging the knife across my stomach to the opposite strap of my panties.
I shake my head, scared to mutter a word.
I feel a stinging sensation on my hip, him sticking the tip of the knife ever so slightly into my skin. Despite him literally having my life in his hands, I can’t help but grow wetter and wetter with every move he makes.
“I said what’s the matter, baby.” His voice is harsher and the stinging intensifies as he presses the blade in with the smallest amount of extra pressure.
“I l-liked that pair, that’s all,” I admit, hearing a chuckle underneath the mask.
Before I can process what has happened, he cuts the second strap and pulls my panties off of me, stuffing them into his pocket.
“I don’t think you’ll miss them too much, sweetheart.”
This has me dripping, seeing the red lace peeking out of his pocket as he drops to his knees, gaze locked between my legs.
“Such a pretty little pussy.” he whispers, hand on my left thigh to ensure they stay apart.
He shocks me by taking the flat side of the knife and slapping it against my pussy. I can’t help but whimper in shock and pleasure, this being the first time I’ve been touched where I need it most. He doesn’t say a word and repeats his action, slapping it harder against me this time. And then a third.
“F-fuck,” I moan out, throwing my head back onto the bed.
I feel something else rubbing against me- not warm and not cold. I lift my head back up to see him running the handle of the knife up and down against my clit. I buck my hips in response, needing the pressure and stimulation. His free hand grasps onto my hip, pushing me into the bed and preventing me from moving. He turns the knife back around to the flat side and slaps my wet core again, shaking his head. I cry out in pleasure, biting my lip after to try and stifle my own sounds, feeling myself begin to drip.
“Is somebody enjoying themselves? You’re making such a mess sweetheart.” He brings the knife in front of his face, inspecting it and running his finger along the edge, my wet juices all over the blade.
He stands up and climbs on top of me, hovering in a straddle position but not putting his weight on me. I watch as he runs the knife up my stomach, between the valley of my breasts and feel it inch up my throat before stopping in front of my lips. His free hand connects to my throat.
“Be a good girl and clean it for me, hm?”
My breath hitches as I open my mouth and stick out my tongue, running it gingerly along the edge of the blade, moving to collect everything else from the flat side as I’m throbbing with need, a complete mess underneath of him.
“I have your life in my hands, sweetheart, you know that right?”
I whimper and nod, knowing and trusting fully that Chris would never ever actually hurt me. He stands up to remove his jeans and boxers, his erection slapping against his happy trail and a drop of precum leaking onto his abdomen. He leans down to grip my hair, pulling me into a sitting position and holding the knife against my throat.
“Take it all.”
I lick the precum off his happy trail, then move my tongue down to swirl around his swollen head. His grip in my hair tightens and my air is cut off a bit as the knife is pressed harder into my skin.
“I said fucking take it all.”
I look up into the eyes of the mask as I oblige, not hesitating as I take his entire length into my mouth, sucking and coating him. His sounds are still muffled but I hear him begin to breathe heavy under the mask.
He uses the hand that’s wrapped into my hair to pull my head closer, his dick going into my throat causing me to gag and drool, but he doesn’t stop. He’s pumping in and out while tears are dripping from my eyes and saliva is running down my chin. I feel his dick begin to pulse, but he takes his hand from my hair, releasing his grip and allowing me to come up for breath.
“Look at that pathetic face, so pretty. Doing so good for me.” he says, running two fingers along my chin, collecting my own saliva and shoving his fingers into my mouth to clean them. They pull out with a popping sound and he pushes me back onto the bed, raising one of my legs over his shoulder. He begins teasing my folds with his head, slowly running it up and down eliciting pathetic sounding moans from me, just aching for him to be inside of me.
“Listen at you, sweetheart. You’re just so desperate for more aren’t you?”
“P-please. Please I need it.” I whimper out, the tip of the knife poking into the thigh he has propped on his shoulder.
He groans and slaps my entrance with his dick before he harshly pushes into me, taking no time to let me adjust.
His thrusts are deep and fast, the sounds of his hip colliding with the skin of my thigh echoing in the room. He throws his head back in pleasure, his free hand coming down to press onto my stomach, feeling a bulge and I realize he’s feeling himself deep inside through my skin. The sensation sends a shockwave of pleasure through my body causing me to whine and clench around him.
“Such a tight little pussy, so perfect for me.” He groans, looking back down at me as my mouth hangs open involuntarily. He removes the blade from my thigh, turning it around and shoving the handle of the knife into my mouth.
“You needed something to fill that pretty mouth, didn’t you?” he growls, moving it in and out at same the pace as his thrusts.
I whimper and whine, feeling the vibrations on the handle of the knife in my mouth. My stomach tightens and I feel my high approaching, and he takes notice. His hand quickly finds its way to my core, his thumb pressing into my clit and kneading it.
“I just wanna ruin you, sweetheart. Let go for me, come on,” he beckons, his pace picking up and his thumb pressing harder into my bundle of nerves. This sends me over the edge and I start to fall apart around him, arching my back up with the knife handle still in my mouth, muffling my cries of pleasure.
He groans lowly and I feel him pulsing before I feel a warm release inside of me, his own orgasm taking over as his head falls back. We go over the edge together, sweating and panting and dizzy.
He pulls the handle out of my mouth, tossing it to a safe spot before ripping the mask off.
“Fuck, y/n. So fucking good.” he pulls himself out of me, hissing at the sensitivity and brushes his sweaty hair out of his eyes. He’s glistening and dripping with sweat. I’m silent as I try to regain my composure, light headed from my intense orgasm.
“Honeybee are you okay?” his voice softens with worry, coming down to lay beside me and turn my face to his. I meet his gaze, his blue eyes watching me so sweetly and give him a soft smile, hardly able to hold my own eyes open.
“More than okay, Chrissy. Just tired.” His lips meet mine in a sweet kiss.
“Let’s go get cleaned up and then we’ll put out all your new decorations, sound good?”

THE TOWN OF STARS HOLLOW was on the brink of Autumn, yet the sun was mistaking the New England town for a tropical paradise. Except the sun didn't accept the idea of paradise. Not with the continuous heat waves that had the town meetings cancelled and air conditioners blasting. Not a single long sleeve in sight despite it being the first day of September.
"This feels like a joke. This has to be a joke, right?" Lorelai Gilmore mutters as she walks down the side walk, fanning herself with her hand while trailing around in her heeled boots that felt like personal hell. Her best friend, Sookie, stood to her right wiping the bead of sweat from her forehead. "If it is, this is the cruelest joke ever."
The two regretted their walk from the Dragonfly Inn almost instantly and that thought only deepened as they walked the towns streets. Luke's seemed so far away and they were ready to give up.
"Watch out!" A voice called from the town square, as the two woman turned to see a ball coming in their direction. Lorelai moved out of the way and Sookie quickly followed, the ball nearly taking out their necks. A woman came jogging over and stopped with a quick glance at the two of them, grabbing the ball and tossing it into her arms. "Oh, sorry. That kid is not ready for soccer tryouts.”
Lorelai locked eyes with the woman who stood before her, wearing a pair of sneakers with shorts and a cut-up Metallica t-shirt. She looked like she somehow didn't break a sweat. Despite her athletic efforts. "Where did you come from, the freezer section?" Lorelai asks.
The unknown woman rubs her lips together before motioning over to the kid standing in the grass across the road. "My niece has shitty aim," She says with a quick smile.
"Well we can't all be... a… soccer player," Lorelai mutters as she realizes she doesn't know the name of a singular athletic star.
"Are you new around here?" Sookie asks the girl curiously as she searches her purse for her sunscreen. Y/N only nodded in response, "Just visiting my sister. She owns the boutique down the road."
"Oh yeah, I like going in there. It's like an episode of The Twilight Zone. I never know what's gonna happen in there," Lorelai chuckles as the woman only nods along. "Cool t-shirt, by the way."
"Metallica fan?" Y/N asks as she eyes her for a moment, noticing the pink tank top with a puppy on it. She found it hard to believe that this smiley woman would be fond of Kirk Hammett.
"Great band," Lorelai nods.
"They know how to play a tune or two," Y/N comments with a quick smirk making Lorelai smile. Clearly enjoying their little talk and what Y/N said next. "It's not too often I run into a pretty Metallica fan."
Lorelai smiles sweetly at those words making Sookie have to hide her smile of excitement with her hand. Before making an excuse to leave the two alone. "I'm gonna head to Luke's before I become bacon out here... nice meeting you."
Y/N gives her a nod as she walks past her, leaving Lorelai stood infront of her and only her. "Yeah, I'll meet you there."
She tossed the ball back over towards her niece who went back to kicking it around the gazebo. Lorelai's eyes still on her as she did so. Enjoying her figure in the summer clothing. "Well I should probably get back to her..."
"Yeah," Lorelai gives her a nod as she breaks out of the trance and looks over at the kid. "She's a cute kid."
"She is," Y/N nods as she gives Lorelai another look once her head turned. "Listen... I'm gonna be in town for a while."
"Oh?" The Inn owner says, obviously too awkward to mumble out something witty as per usual. Y/N nodded before licking her lips. "Yeah, I'll see you around?"
"Yep. It's Stars Hollow; we see everyone and everything. Not in a creepy way... but in a like, we're always looking. God, that sounded very opening scene of Halloween," Lorelai smiles awkwardly before chuckling away her nerves.
"Great movie," Y/N comments with a quick smile as she glanced down at the empty coffee cup Lorelai was holding. Questioning why she was on her second cup of hot coffee on a day like this... but noticing the sharpie'd name written on the side. "…Lorelai."
Lorelai furrows her eyebrows with another soft chuckle. "So you're stalker Michael Myers."
"No, I'm just a girl who can read," Y/N motions to the coffee cup with a nice smirk. Lorelai feels a grin grow at that as she looks over at the woman. "I'll see you later, Lorelai."
"You too, Y/N." Lorelai hums as she watches her head toward the street before turning to her with a confused look. Lorelai only grins as she starts walking to the coffee shop, "I can read too."

Scare 2
Summary: Part 2 to this. You and Hobie get to know each other a bit more via a makeup session.
Pairing: Gender Neutral Reader x Scare Actor Hobie Brown
Warnings: Fluff. Gwen makes an appearance because I love her. British slang that may or may not be bad but I’m British and hoping it’s the second one. I’m not confident in this but it took me a month to write so take it my brain’s dying. Maybe abrupt ending? Like I said my brain’s dying. Comedy too (I guess? I hope you laugh.) 2nd Person POV with no Y/N. Hobie has fans. Hobie’s also a little less flirty this time. One (1) single mention of Pavitr because I also love him. Not a warning just wanted to say I love him.
Words: 1.3k

An hour later, your mind’s sole focus was Hobie. You couldn’t think about anything other than Hobie, his scary makeup, his cool clothes, and the fact that you were standing right outside his break room.
“You can’t go in there,” the man standing outside raised a hand to stop you. “It’s for staff only.”
“I’m meeting my friend in there,” you protested, hands fidgeting with the ring said friend had given you, before quickly adding, “And he works here.”
The man only snorted in amusement. “Yeah, good try.”
You blinked a few times, frustration welling up inside you. Squinting at the man’s name tag, you tried to reason with him, “No, Greg, I’m telling the truth. His name’s Hobie and he—“
Before you could finish your sentence, the door to the break room opened, and the person you were talking about poked his head out.
“Ah, there you are,” Hobie chuckled. He grabbed your shoulder and tried to pull you into the room, but Greg stopped him.
“You know that’s not allowed.”
Hobie struggled to hide an eye roll. “Mate, come on, just do me a favor.”
Greg pursed his lips, sighing. “If I get in trouble—“
“You won’t. Promise,” Hobie said, and then he pulled you inside the break room.
Songs with a spooky theme played quietly, used as background noise whilst people chattered. Most were in scary costumes and the few that weren’t were in the process of getting ready.
Lights lined the ceiling, glowing red. There was a table pushed to the side and piled full of foods and drinks. A crowd gathered around it, playing a game of tossing bloody red popcorn into each other’s mouths.
The mood was light-hearted and joyful, despite the creepy decorations in the room.
Wrapping his arm around your shoulder, Hobie kept you pressed against his side as he navigated the room. You were glad for it. You were never scared of anything but you had to admit that all of these strangers in scary costumes were intimidating.
“Greg’s so bloody uptight,” Hobie scoffed. Then, he tilted his head to one side as he thought for a moment, “But he’s alright most of the time, and he keeps the creeps away.”
You arrived at what you assumed was Hobie’s space. It was a desk stained with paint and makeup, a mirror hung on the wall with bright lights around it. The desk was messy, rubbish strewn all over and makeup containers opened like he left in a rush.
“So, this is where the magic happens,” You grinned.
“Oh, oops,” was all Hobie said as he grabbed handfuls of the rubbish and tossed them in the bin.
You watched Hobie as he did so, studying the way his brow furrowed and his makeup creased. He was a unique individual, you had to admit. You’d never met anyone as confident or as fascinating as him; you barely knew the guy and yet here you were in his dressing room, wanting to know more about him. Hobie certainly stood out from the crowd and you didn’t understand why, but he had an energy about him that made you smile. Oh, and he was obviously hot as hell.
“You got a starin’ problem, love?”
“What?” His words shook you out of your trance and you found him looking at you, “Oh, no, your makeup’s just really nice.”
“Want me to do yours?” He asked.
“That’d be cool,” You admitted, eager to be turned into something frightening—and to feel his touch.
Smirking, Hobie grabbed you by your shoulders and sat you down on a nearby chair. One hand rested gently on you whilst the other grabbed products and applied them.
“So, how long have you been a scare actor?” You attempted to make conversation.
“Only about six months,” Hobie replied as he spread some sort of primer over your face, “I wasn’t arsed about it at first but my mate was really into it and didn’t want to do it on her own, so ‘ere I am. And it’s fun make people jump, innit?”
“I’m usually the one jumping,” You responded.
Hobie shook his head, “Nah, no way. You’re tough as nails. Your friend, though—their screams might’ve fucked up my ears.”
You laughed, “The whole reason I’m here is because of them, actually. You know, to make them less scared.”
“Where are they?” Hobie questioned, “Did they get too scared and went home?”
“No, no, they become obsessed with the skull cotton candy that’s here,” You chuckled, “I physically couldn’t drag them away from the stall.”
“Hell yeah, that stuff’s great, I always have it when I’m Hank Marvin,“ Hobie smirked.
“When you’re what?”
“Starving,” Hobie laughed when you stared at him like he’d grown two heads. Then, he did a double-take at his desk when he tried to grab another makeup product, “Where the hell—“
“Looking for something?” A younger kid—a girl with blue and pink tips in her hair—appeared out of nowhere and held out some colourful eyeliner.
“That’s mine, you plonker,” Hobie said as he ruffled the girl’s hair. Then, he uncapped the eyeliner and cupped the kid’s face, bringing her closer, “Hang on, Gwendy, you’ve mucked it up, mate.”
With a few quick strokes, Hobie fixed her eyeliner while she stared at you with wide eyes.
“Is this one of your groupies?”
“I’m not a groupie,” You said, unable to hide the annoyance in your tone.
“They’re a friend,” Hobie said and your heart warmed. He scoffed in response to the kid’s question, as irritated as you. Though it quickly melted away and he affectionately patted the kid’s shoulder, addressing you, “This is Gwen.”
“Nice to meet you,” You offered her your hand after telling her your name, but she ducked away from it.
“I’m messy, sorry,” Gwen said before grabbing a packet of wipes out of the mess on Hobie’s desk and scrubbing their hands with it.
“Those are mine when you’re done,” Hobie scoffed—though it was full of endearment. He clearly adored the kid and vice versa.
Even though Gwen’s costume was spider-like, it had many similarities to Hobie’s. The most striking ones were that they had the same makeup and Gwen was wearing a shirt that was clearly created by Hobie.
As Hobie continued to do your makeup, applying some eyeliner on you, he wrinkled his nose, “I don’t have groupies, Gwendy.”
“Tell that to the people who edit you on TikTok,” Gwen replied teasingly as she swept some makeup to the side and sat down on his dressing table.
“I would but that app is a piece of shit that destroys your attention span. I’ve told you that a million times, mate,” Hobie grumbled, “I don’t have it for a reason.”
“Wait, are you guys serious? People make edits of you?” Your eyebrows shot up and Hobie pushed them down with his fingers before continuing with your eyeliner.
Gwen nodded, “Yeah, people go crazy over him. His hashtag has, like, thousands of views.”
“Wait, seriously? Like, genuinely? Actually?” You found it hard to believe. Not because Hobie wasn’t worth it, he absolutely was; he was attractive and charming. It was because you hadn’t come across any of these edits.
“Yeah, and it’s bloody weird. They don’t even know me, and they pick the worst music known to mankind. They’re out of their goddamn minds if they think I’d like MSI.” Hobie groaned before turning to Gwen, “You and Pav need to stop sending me those edits. I already said I don’t wanna see ‘em.”
“You should be glad you can’t see the comments.” Gwen grinned.
“Wait, hang on, I wanna see this—” You began to say but she cut you off.
“You really, really don’t. The comments are the worst part. But the attention’s good for business, though,” Gwen pointed out.
“Yet my wage is still the same,” Hobie grumbled before stepping back from you and gesturing to the mirror, “Have a look, mate.”
Gwen shuffled out of the way so you could see yourself properly—and you broke out into a grin. You were wearing the same makeup as Hobie, matching with both him and Gwen.
Hobie clapped you on the back as Gwen grinned at you, “You’re one of us now.”
And you definitely felt like it.

𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐊 𝐗 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: When Sherlock blows off his Valentine’s plans with Y/N, she’s just about ready to give up on their relationship and move on. It isn’t until she receives a text from the consulting detective that she decides to hold off on the impulse and give him one last chance.
Will Sherlock Holmes have enough heart to save the day?
────────⊳⋆⊲────────
“Good morning, John!”
Doctor Watson looked up from his spot at the kitchen table and smiled. “Good morning, Y/N,” he said kindly. “Big day?”
She looked down at herself and shrugged. “Something like that.”
It was the morning of February fourteenth in London, and the city was buzzing with lovesick couples rushing about for last minute gifts and tokens. Y/N had stopped by 221B Baker Street to visit Sherlock for the occasion.
It was their first Valentine’s Day as a couple and she couldn’t wait to celebrate it with the man that she loved. She had dressed in her finest clothes and picked up a platter of muffins from the café next door.
“JOHN! HAVE YOU SEEN MY HEART ANYWHERE?” a voice called out from down the hall.
John and Y/N turned their heads as Sherlock entered the room, dressed in a suit and his signature coat and scarf.
“Have I seen your heart?” John asked slowly.
Sherlock tossed his scarf on the table, narrowly missing the platter of treats that Y/N had placed down earlier. “Yes, heart! You’re a doctor for goodness sake! You know, the thing that pumps blood, and-”
John took a breath and rubbed his temples, gingerly. “Yes. I’m well aware of what a heart is as well as its physiological function, but I don’t understand the context of your question!”
“It’s imperative that I find the organ before noon!” Sherlock scowled. He threw his hands up in the air and pushed past Y/N, not bothering to say hello. “Mrs Hudson!” he cried out, disappearing out the door once more.
Y/N sighed and perched on the edge of the kitchen counter. She should have seen this coming. Sherlock was always so preoccupied with his work that he often forgot about her.
John smiled at her sympathetically. “It’s fitting that he look for a heart today of all days,” he said.
Y/N nodded and crossed her arms. “Most would argue that he hasn’t got one.”
“You don’t mean that,” John said, reaching for a muffin.
Y/N swatted his hand away. “I really don’t,” she admitted. “I think he has the biggest heart out of all of us. He’s just a bit unconventional in how he shows it.”
Before John could respond, his mobile buzzed. He checked the notification and frowned. “You’re not going to like this,” he said.
Y/N pursed her lips and motioned for him to carry on.
“It’s Sherlock,” John continued, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “He’s left for the police station on a homicide case. He just messaged me to meet him there.”
Y/N let out a groan. Today was supposed to be special. She had planned for them to spend Valentine’s together and instead, Sherlock had run off to bond with a corpse and a killer.
“That’s fine, John,” she said. “I’ll just head home then.”
Doctor Watson nodded, then stood up and gave one last meaningful glance at the muffins which Y/N had brought for Sherlock. She leaned forwards and pushed the platter closer to him. “Be my guest,” she said, defeated.
John smiled sheepishly, snagged a muffin, and rushed out the door, waving goodbye behind his shoulder.
Y/N winced when the door locked behind him. It seemed like she would be spending Valentine’s Day on her own.
***
Y/N surfed through the channels of her telly, her grip on the remote tightening with every romcom and couple’s programming that flashed by. She had waited the entire day for Sherlock to contact her, but the sky had since darkened and she had yet to hear a word from his end.
She was just about to head to bed when her mobile buzzed.
Baker Street
Will you come?
S.H.
Y/N pursed her lips at the hesitance in Sherlock’s text. Usually, his messages were orders, not suggestions. He knew that he had done wrong, she was sure of it. She took a breath and typed back a response.
I’m not sure if I can.
Y/N waited a moment before receiving a reply.
Please?
S.H.
Please… That was all it took for her to fall for the consulting detective all over again. The entire day, she had been thinking of ending their relationship for good. Shifting back to the safety of an unlikely friendship. But with only a few texts, she knew that she couldn’t. Sherlock Holmes might have been the coarsest man in London, but he was hers.
I’ll be there.
Though she hated to admit it, Y/N was excited to see the consulting detective. Not wasting another minute, she grabbed her coat and raced out the door of her flat.
***
Sherlock tapped his foot nervously and checked his watch for the third time. Y/N was late. He gripped a fresh bunch of roses in his hand and winced when a thorn nicked his skin.
“It’s your own fault, you know,” John murmured from behind a newspaper.
Sherlock turned to his flatmate and scowled. “Though I appreciate your remark John, perhaps you can keep all further comments to yourself!”
The Doctor tossed his paper onto the table by his armchair and leaned forwards, eyes on Sherlock. “The poor girl has been waiting the whole day,” he said slowly. “The only reason you even invited her back to the flat is because I reminded you that today was Valentine’s Day.”
Sherlock held John’s gaze for a moment before finally looking downwards. “You’re right,” he said softly. “I’m a fool.” He scrubbed a hand down his face and tossed the flowers to the floor, kicking them away with contempt. “I’ve lost her,” he lamented, walking towards the window. “How could I have been so careless?”
“I find myself asking the same question most days. About you being careless, that is.”
Sherlock turned around and saw Y/N leaning against the flat’s doorway, a tight smile on her face.
“You came,” he said breathlessly.
“I almost didn’t,” she admitted.
Sherlock felt a pang of guilt course through him. “I’m glad you changed your mind.”
Y/N approached him, her arms crossed. When he leaned forwards to kiss her, she gave him her cheek.
“I suppose I deserve that,” he muttered, shooting a glare at John when he heard the Doctor chortle at the snub.
“You really do,” Y/N scoffed. She studied Sherlock, taking in his crisp suit and windblown hair. “Why am I here?” she asked. “You were too busy to see me for all of the fourteenth, but suddenly decided to ask me over in the dead of night?”
Sherlock shifted on his feet, not quite knowing what to say. “I’ve done wrong,” he said finally. He took Y/N’s hand in his own and looked her directly in the eyes. “And I’m not just talking about today.”
She quirked a brow, waiting for him to continue.
“I’ve always put you second,” he said. “I cast you to the sidelines in place of my work, and I’m sorry.” He put a hand on her cheek, his eyes flicking down towards her lips. “Truly, I’m sorry.”
Y/N smiled and kissed him lightly. “I forgive you,” she whispered. In truth, she had already decided to let it go. Though his behavior did hurt her sometimes, she knew that in the grander scheme of things, Sherlock was doing the city a service by solving the mysteries that nobody else could.
"Oh yes, before I forget!” Sherlock blurted out, bending down on a knee. “These are for you!” Y/N watched as he picked up a grungy bunch of flowers from the floor, the petals curled and limp.
Sherlock’s face lit up as he presented the offering to her. His eyes crinkled from his wide smile and glinted proudly. “Happy Valentine’s Day, my love,” he said. “I picked these myself.”
“He really did,” John affirmed. “They’re roses from the garden patch where the victim was found buried earlier today.”
Y/N accepted the flowers carefully. “They’re lovely,” she said hesitantly. When she glanced back up at Sherlock, she couldn’t help but beam at the pleased expression on his face.
He winked at her then offered out his arm, gesturing for her to grab hold of him. “I may have failed you earlier today, but I plan on fixing that,” he said. “How would you like to join me on a stroll about the city?”
Y/N gave his arm a gentle squeeze. “I don’t know Sherlock, you have a lot to make up for,” she teased.
He leaned forwards and kissed her. When he pulled back, he pressed his forehead against her own and grinned. “Then we have no time to waste,” he whispered.
As Valentine’s day drew to a close, Sherlock Holmes and Y/N began their adventure, leaving Baker Street in one another’s arms.

Hollywood Whore
Pairings: Colson x Reader , Rook x Reader
Warnings/tags: mild implied smut, unrequited love
A/N: I randomly came up with this little idea today and somehow wrote it in one day.
“What’s this?” You held up a pair of shiny gold hoops you just plucked off the nightstand, your other hand wrapping the sheets around your still naked frame.
“Looks like earrings.” Colson said nonchalantly, stating the obvious as he pulled up a pair of skinny jeans.
“Yeah I know that dipshit.. who’s?”
“Fuck if I know, you think I keep track of every girl that spends the night here.” Colson stated sounding slightly annoyed with you. “What the fucks with all the questions this morning? You know we ain’t exclusive!” He looked around like he was searching for something.
HE. He wasn’t exclusive, you on the other hand hadn’t so much as looked at another guy since you two started hooking up about a year ago. You started out as friends, which quickly turned to friends with benefits. You knew the arrangement, but you also knew you had fallen hard for the man.
“Hmphf, yeah thanks for reminding me.” You said under your breath before picking up his shirt from under the covers, balling it up and throwing it at him. “Looking for this?”
“Damn, good thing we fucked last night, I think your about to start your period or something.” He gave you a look before pulling the shirt over his head.
“Oh, FUCK YOU, Colson!” You exclaimed, quickly tossing the blankets off yourself and rummaging through the sheets for your clothes. “Mr. Hollywood Whore.. maybe you should start asking names so you can return their shit when they leave it here!” You yelled angrily as you tugged on your clothes.
“You sound jealous” Colson quipped, “If I wanted a crazy girlfriend, I’d have one. There’s a reason I do things the way I do, I don’t need this shit!”
He was absolutely correct and for a second you almost felt bad for yelling at Colson, he really didn’t do anything wrong; you had agreed to this after all. But seeing another girls earrings on his nightstand destroyed the illusion you had created in your head; that Colson was yours and no one elses. And the way Colson was so nonchalant about the whole thing, like it was completely normal to sleep with so many girls he couldn’t keep track, just rubbed you the wrong way, striking your jealousy like a match.
“Yeah, you’re right, and neither do I!” You grabbed your purse and pushed past him to the bedroom door.
You needed to get over Colson, and fast! You remembered your best friends mother once telling her heartbroken daughter “The quickest way to get over a man is to get under another one” and that’s exactly what you planned to do: fuck the next guy you see.
“Bye, Y/N” you hear a familiar voice call on your way out the front door…
********************
“Aye, boys, you ready to head to the studio?” Colson called coming down the staircase. “Wait, where’s Rookie?
“I dunno maybe he’s still in his room.” Slim answered.
“Rook c’mon man we’re gonna be late!” Colson shouted barging into Rooks room after running back up the stairs. “Yo WHAT THE FUCK!” Colson exclaimed, realizing the reason Rook wasn’t downstairs yet was because he was buried inside you.
“What? You know we ain’t exclusive.” You quipped with a smirk from underneath Rook.
“My best fucking friend!? Y/N! Are you serious!?” Colson shouted.
“You sound jealous.”

Poly Relationship With Bakugou, Todoroki and Deku
Imagine 13: over dramatic
Summary: the boys get jealous because you’re close to Kirishima. There’s a fight, words are exchanged.
Warnings: fight, hurt/comfort, possessiveness
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“WHY THE HELL DID HE HAVE HIS ARM AROUND YOUR SHOULDERS Y/N?” Katsuki screamed at you. It would be laughable if this argument hadn’t been going for hours. You had gone to lunch with your friend, Kirishima and he had side hugged you goodbye. You didn’t know Izuku had been patrolling and seen, or that he’d tell your other boyfriends.
“It’s not a big deal Katsu. He’s a friend-“
“You sure about that?” Shoto’s eyes were dark, expression unforgiving. “According to Izuku, the two of you looked pretty chummy.” You glared at Izuku, but he stood by your boyfriends, arms crossed, glaring right back.
“So what?” You ask, throwing your hands up in the air, “I can’t have guy friends anymore.”
“The way he touched you wasn’t in a friendly way.” Izuku shot back.
“HE FUCKING SIDE HUGGED ME! ARE YOU JOKING!” You scream through tears. Katsuki scoffs.
“So you’d be okay if I grabbed Ururaka and and hugged her and felt up on her?” That struck a chord in you. You knew that what Kiri had done was nothing more than friendly. What Katsuki was suggesting...he insinuated something sexual. You grit your teeth, shoulders shaking as you grab your keys and your purse.
“Where are you going?” Izuku asks, a slight panic cracking his snarky tone.
“We aren’t done yet.” Shoto takes a step forward. You glare at him, the look of anger on your face stopping him in his tracks.
“I am. I’m done. With this. With you. I would never cheat on any of you. You’re fucking idiots if you think I would.....leave me the fuck alone.” You turn on your heel, leaving them speechless as you slam the door behind you.
You don’t know how long you’ve been driving. You shut your phone off and threw it in your glove box. You loved them but you were hurt and they needed to see that. You loved being with them, but you needed to breathe, to have a life outside of them. That shouldn’t be up for debate.
You finally pull into the parking lot of a motel and get a room. You toss and turn all night, fitfully sleeping. You aren’t used to being alone and the tears rip through you as your heart breaks. Didn’t they trust you? Would Katsuki really do that to you?
You wake up the next morning with a terrible headache and puffy eyes. After lying in bed staring at the ceiling for what felt like hours, you finally decide to head home.
When you get in the car you turn your phone on. You have to shut the ringer off because it blows up.
32 missed calls from boom baby💥🥵
85 text messages from my love😘😘
2 missed calls from Ice Daddy❄️🥵
15 texts from boom baby💥🥵
28 texts from Ice Daddy❄️🥵
8 missed calls from my love😘😘
You rub your temples as you play one voice mail from each of them, your heart hammering in your chest. If it was bad, you’d just wait, get your shit and leave.
Hey! Baby! Look I’m sorry...I just....call me back okay? This isn’t over....I.....we can’t be over.
Princess....please....let me know you’re safe
Little dove *sob*.....little dove please....I didn’t mean it....I didn’t. I love you...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You sit in the car, hands white knuckled on the steering wheel as you stare at the house you share with your boyfriends. You’re not sure you’re ready to forgive them yet, so you grit your teeth and get out, determined to ignore them.
Loud, frantic voices reach your ears the second you open the door.
“I’M GOING OUT TO FIND HER! WHO KNOWS WHERE SHE COULD BE!”
“We need to let her have her space-“
“I have to agree with Kachan Shoto. She could be hurt. We need to go-“
“This is hard for all of us. But pushing her right now is only going to upset her.”
You stand in the doorway of the kitchen. Midoriya is at the table, head in hands, hair in disarray. Katsuki has Shoto by the front of his shirt, growling at him and Shoto looks as calm as ever. None of them looked like they slept, still in the same clothes from the night before.
Izuku sees you first, lifting his head, his eyes meet yours.
“Little Dove.” He says breathlessly.
It’s like a starting shot.
All of them are scrambling towards you, knocking you back with force as they yank you into their arms and shower you with kisses and hugs, holding you like you’ll disappear.
“Little Dove we were so worried-“
“Thank you for coming home-“
“Don’t ever scare me like that again. Damnit, lost my mind worried about you-“ you pull back, holding your hands up to keep them at bay. You’re overwhelmed with emotion and struggling to keep it together.
“I....” you take a shaky breath. “I’m tired. I’m going to bed. We can talk when I get up.” Without another word you walk around them and towards the master bedroom. You climb into the California King bed and curl up, falling into an uneasy sleep.
It isn’t until they come sneaking into the room, crawling on the bed to cuddle you, that you finally fall asleep.
They’re hot headed, possessive assholes.
But they’re your assholes.
And you love them.

Enji Todoroki x F!Reader - NSFW
A/N: So @cozykozume wanted me to name this “Cooling Down the Fire Daddy” so there’s that. Anyways, in case you didn’t know, I LOVE Enji Todoroki....like an extraordinary amount. Which is hilarious, because I started the series hating him but I digress. So here’s one of my favorite things I’ve written and also one of the longest posts because I just...I am just so soft for this man. <3 Pip

When you stepped into the meeting that morning you weren't sure what to expect.
"Welcome back!" Midnight's cheery voice cut through the air, her eyes bright. You smiled at her as the rest of your colleagues responded with a variation of greetings and welcome's. You had been on a six month long mission across the globe and arrived back yesterday. Though you were slightly jetlagged, you were ready to throw yourself back in the grind of hero work.
As you took your seat your eyes roamed to the largest figure in the room. Endeavor had stayed silent, his eyes trained on the brief documents in front of him. Hell, you weren't even sure if he had noticed you had returned. Your heart sank slightly.
What did you expect? It had been six months, six long, confusing months since that night of booze and desire. Six months since you had felt his large hands wrapped around your body, his lips pressed against your neck hungrily as you grinded against him.
Fuck. You cut another glance at him. His eyes were narrowed as he read over the papers in front of him and his face was in it's permanent scowl. If he noticed you at all, he was doing a good job hiding it.
Your thoughts were interrupted by Hawks swaggering in the room.
"Hey h/n! Long time, no see! How was the mission?" He called out, pulling you into a friendly hug. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Enji shift.
"Great. Managed to bust the kingpin and shut the entire operation down. Glad to be back though". You smiled back at the winged hero. He nodded, before taking his seat right next to the flame hero.
"Mornin' Endeavor!" his cheery voice rang out.
Enji grumbled a greeting, his eyes not looking up
Eraserhead cleared his throat from the head of the table.
"Let's get started."
You couldn't help zoning out as the dark haired hero discussed the current mission. You forced your eyes to stare at the file in front of you and not the man across from you. You were so focused, you almost didn't hear your name.
"H/N, you will be working with Endeavor."
Your eyes widened, and your head snapped up. You finally dared to look at Enji who's expression hadn't changed. As Eraser concluded the meeting, you steeled your nerves and walked to the flame hero.
"Endeavor, I-"
He cut you off.
"Train. I will not be dragged down by you because you haven't sparred properly in six months."
Your demeanor steeled.
“I wasn’t just partying it up over there. I was working.”
If he cared, it didn’t register on his face. His turquoise eyes were fixed at the spot above you instead of meeting yours. Without another word, he turned to leave. You felt your face grow hot. Determined to not show emotion, you pursed your lips, grabbing your things to head back to your apartment.
---
“Endeavor, you lucky dog.”
Endeavor looked up from the paperwork on his desk with a bored expression.
“What are you talking about Hawks?” His voice was tinged with annoyance as he looked back down to the documents from the intel team.
“Stop pretending you aren’t thrilled to be working with H/N. She’s the BEST, and between you and me, she’s definitely one of the most beautiful heroes.” The blonde faux-whispered, tossing back his head in a chuckle.  Endeavor fixed him with an aggravated stare.
“I have no desire to work with H/N. She has been on a mission for 6 months, so we are at a disadvantage anyway, since I doubt she was actually working all of that time. Especially since her behavior is comparable to yours.”
Hawks cocked a bushy brow.
“Deny it all you want, big guy. Your body language is different when you’re around her. You should ask her out. I’m sure she’d say yes. Some girls like the mean and broody type.”
Smoke emitted from the corner of Endeavor’s desk, where his hand rested. Clearing his throat, he attempted to put it out, but not before the annoying bird hero noticed.
With a smirk, Hawks headed towards the door.
“Don’t screw this up, Endeavor!”
----
What Hawks didn’t know is Enji had already screwed this up. Before you left, six long months ago, you and Endeavor were on relatively friendly terms. Well as friendly as one can be with the hotheaded flame hero. It was you that convinced him to go out that night with the other pro-heroes. And when the night ended, he had walked you home.
Surprisingly, he could be a gentleman when he wanted to be.
The walk home had been quiet, though you and Enji both had a bit to drink. Emboldened by the alcohol, you finally had turned to him.
“Enji, why do you try to push us away?”
Your boldness surprised him. It wasn’t a surprise he could come off a bit stoic, at best. Yet no one, especially newer heroes, called him out on this behavior. It was just “how he was”. Before he could stop himself he blurted out,
“I don’t wish to hurt people anymore.”
His face heated up and you could see a crimson blush rising up towards his ears. In that moment, you could see a glimpse of Enji, not Endeavor.
This wasn’t to say Enji wasn’t attractive. Yet, him exposing himself, allowing vulnerability? That made your heart jump in your chest. Turning away, you thought about what he meant. You knew his family had been estranged from him, his kids not a frequent presence in his life. You had seen a few gossip magazines detailing how his kids often avoided their childhood home, and you had read about Rei’s hospitalization. You imagined how lonely he must feel, though if there was truth to any of those rumors, you could see why they would be wary.
“This is your home, yes?”
His voice broke your train of thought. You looked up and realized all too soon the two of you were outside your door. Your hand rested on the door handle and you imagined him sitting in a quiet living room, a house empty.
“Would you like to come in for a bit?” Your voice was squeaky and unsure and you were surprised when he grunted in affirmation.
Wordlessly he followed you into the apartment. Somehow, without speaking, you could both feel it. The loneliness that bonded you, the freedom of being vulnerable in the dark blanket of the night, these moments allowing you to breathe and just be without expectation and titles. Because here, you weren’t pro-heroes, you were yourselves, seeking the tiny bits of comfort the other could provide.
As you entered the apartment, the silence between you intensified. Your stomach was buzzing with nerves and as you looked up at him, you could feel the anticipation of who would break first. His hands found your hips and pulled you towards him, and soon his lips were on yours. He tasted like the scotch he had been drinking, warm and rich. His hands were hot where they met your skin, and you pressed closer in his embrace. Rough stubble scratched at your skin and you kissed him deeper, desperately wanting to let him in and lose yourself in him at the same time.
Your back pressed against the wall, and his fingers grazed the bottom of your shirt. Breathlessly you finally broke apart. Looking in each other's eyes, you unbuttoned your shirt, fingers trembling in anticipation. He took this as his cue to pull off his own, and you admired his strong muscles, littered with scars. You could feel his eyes roam your body as you undid the last button, leaving you in a simple bra and pants. His hands, hands that could throw buildings and fight villains, were gentle against your skin, slowly running over your belly to the edge of your bra. When you didn’t protest, he tugged at the clasps, letting it fall off your shoulders to the floor.
He pressed hungry kisses to your shoulder, slowly working his way down. His touches were gentle, as if you would break if he wasn’t careful and his mind raced, wanting to explore every inch of you. A soft moan escaped your lips as he nipped at your neck. Enji’s body tensed, and his grip tightened as he kissed lower, desperate to hear more of your sweet noises.
His pants were painfully tight now, and you seemed to understand, because he could feel your small fingers working the latch on his belt, tugging his slacks down and exposing the tent in his boxers. He let out a low groan as your fingers wrapped around his clothed cock. Enji was a lot bigger than anyone in general, though he never really thought about it until now, when your hand was struggling to wrap completely around his thick member.
Maneuvering his hands from your hips, he cupped your breasts, pressing aching kisses to them. He sucked bruises into your skin, and bit back a groan as your fingers found their way under his waistband. Enji wrapped his arms around your waist, lifting you up, and you nodded to the general area of the bedroom. Nudging the door open, he gently rested you on the bed. Sliding your pants over your hips, leaving you exposed, a thin pair of black panties being the only barrier between the redhead and your sex.
His hands gripped your things, parting you open and he placed a soft kiss on your belly. He worked his way lower, hooking his fingers under your waistband and dragging the material over your curves before tossing it off the bed. Tracing over your soft mound with his finger, he pushed open the lips of your cunt. Like a man starved, he buried his face in your pussy, his tongue devouring your slick.
Your hands gripped his red hair and he groaned into you. Pulling your legs over his shoulders, he fucked you on his tongue, before sucking your throbbing clit between his lips. Eyes rolling back, your breathy moans filled the apartment. You felt yourself climbing higher and higher, so close to euphoria as you grinded on his face.
“Fuck...delicious.” He growled into your cunt. His fingers gripped your thighs, almost painfully and the vibrations of his voice pushed you over the edge. Your thighs squeezed around his head and your back arched off the soft bed as you cried out his name. He continued his assault on your cunt, slurping down your juices as your fingers tugged his locks, gasping at the overstimulation. Still, Enji continued to drown himself in you, your sweet taste like nectar of the gods. He wanted so much more of you, to stay here for hours, pulling orgasm after orgasm out of you. He could feel the muscles in your thighs tense as you came again, your body trembling from the impact.
Pulling away, he kissed your lips, the taste of you on his tongue. Your tongues entwined, as your arms wrapped around his neck, feeling the muscles of his upper back flex. Too soon and yet not fast enough he broke away, positioning himself between your legs, his massive frame towering over you. His hands rested on the bed on opposite sides of your face as he looked down at your body. Your lips were puffy from his kiss, parted slightly. Your eyes were glassy, half-lidded and hungry for more. You met his gaze and inhaled, giving him the slightest nod. He lined his cock up with your entrance, gently pushing the head in. You gasped at the stretch, and after a moment rocked your hips, spurring him to continue. Easing his cock in, he gritted his teeth at how tight your cunt wrapped around him. His hands moved to your hips as he pulled himself out of you, leaving the tip in before thrusting back into you.
Gripping your hips, he bounced you on his cock easily. Moans fell from your mouth, stuttering each time he bottomed out in you. One hand left your hip and gripped the headboard as his heavy balls smacked against your ass. Enji groaned as your legs wrapped around his waist, forcing him deeper. The headboard creaked under his force as he pounded into you, your moans of his name spurring him on, making him want to give you all of him. Your small hand ran over his chest, the dark hair soft under your fingers as you dug your nails in his skin. You felt overwhelmingly full, his thick cock filling every crevice inside you.
Enji’s fiery eyes roamed  your body, watching as your breasts bounced with each thrust. He could practically see the bulge in your belly from his cock and as lewd as the scene was, there was something so beautiful about you in the throes of passion. His name dripped from your lips like a mantra and he could feel the desire, the want that you carried, begging him to give you everything he had. Your fingers danced across his muscles, a touch so intimate. A touch he hadn’t felt in years.
With a crack, the wooden headboard began to splinter as Enji unloaded into you with a shout. Your body felt heavy as he shot white ropes of cum deep inside you, some spilling out around his cock and onto your sheets. With a final groan, he stilled, slowly sliding his softening cock out of you and collapsing next to you on the bed.
It was silent, except for the sounds of both of you breathing hard, your chests rising and falling in tandem. Enji could hear his heart thumping wildly and he turned to look at you. Your eyes were closed, breathing labored but slow and you sleepily turned towards him, laying your head on his massive bicep.
The next morning, he was gone. The only evidence that the night had even happened was the crack that ran across your headboard and the glass of water on your night stand. Enji avoided you during hero meetings, always somehow on a busy patrol when you called, his assistant taking your message, yet again until you gave up trying.
When the months-long mission was offered to you, you accepted it without hesitation. Enji didn’t attempt to say goodbye.
-----
Now, Enji was torn.
There was no getting out of this. He thought about reaching out to Eraserhead to ask about working alone, though he knew the sleepy hero would ask questions he didn’t want to get into. Enji furrowed his brow as he swung again at the punching bag in front of him, taken to training in his private outdoor home gym rather than the regular hero gyms to avoid you, though you hadn’t made any more attempts to speak to him.
He jabbed at the bag. This was ridiculous. He was a pro-hero. Allowing this to interfere with his work made him weak, and Endeavor was not weak.
He wasn’t weak.
Enji threw a few more punches, shaking the sweat off as he reached for the bottle of water behind him.
“Enji.”
He stiffened.
“Enji Todoroki, I don’t know why you are ignoring me or what I did to you, but we need to talk about what happened.” Your voice was clear, stronger than it was the day of the meeting.
He took a swig from his water bottle, biding his time. Finally turning around, he faced you. You were in a simple t-shirt and track pants, probably coming from a workout yourself. Your eyes were ablaze, demanding to get answers. Enji felt a stabbing pain in his chest as he compared the image of you now, to the image of you from that night.
“I have nothing to say. We will work on this mission, and be civil to each other. That’s all.” Enji attempted to push past you and you turned on your heel.
“You know what? Fine. You want to pretend you didn’t feel anything that night? That meant nothing to you whatsoever? Was it just to hook up, get your dick wet and leave? Because you didn’t need me for that.” Your tone was angry but Enji could hear the hurt in your statements. Facing you, he glared down.
“What do you want from me? To be your boyfriend? I’m not that man. Try Hawks, he’s into that sort of nonsense. I don’t need or want this trouble in my life anymore.” Enji’s voice was hard, the tone he used for villains or the press. You searched his face, seeking the man from that night. Enji, not Endeavor.
You thought over his words. “Enji...what are you so afraid of?”
The tone of your voice shifted. Softer, easier. He remembered how he felt when you begged for him, when you showed your desire for him through each touch and kiss. He finally looked into your eyes, eyes so full of earnest curiosity. Why couldn’t you just make this easy? He swallowed hard.
Fat droplets of water splashed onto his arms, and no sooner did he notice that the sky opened up, sheets of rain pouring over the two of you. Without thinking, he gripped your hand tugging you to the house. Even though it wasn’t a far journey, you were both soaked, and he could see you shivering. Grabbing a towel from the linen closet, he wrapped it around your shoulders. You murmured a thanks, standing awkwardly in his doorway.
He reached for your hand, leading you to the laundry room. Your hands were small in his and he tried to not focus on his heartbeat that pounded in his ears.
“Wait here.” He grunted, leaving to grab clothes for both of you. He grabbed one of his, then thought better and dug around for anything Fuyumi or Rei may have left. No luck. He sighed, returning to the room where you were sitting on top of the washer.
Thrusting the clothes into your hands, he left to give you some privacy to change as he pulled on his clothes. A few minutes later he heard you giggling. You stepped out, drowning in his way too big shirt. The shirt extended nearly to your knees. The sweatpants he gave you were sliding off your hips and he glimpsed your thighs as you attempted to pull them up. Shrugging, you let them fall to the floor, your legs exposed.
“Sorry, but I don’t think they will stay on. Luckily, your shirt hides everything important.” You said, looking down. Enji mentally disagreed, since any inch of skin he could see would be burned into his brain forever.
Tossing both your clothes into the washer, he set the timer and then it was silent. You spoke first.
“I thought I did something wrong.”
Enji turned to you, Your gaze was fixed on the washing machine, though your eyes looked distant. You continued.
“I thought maybe you thought it was a drunken mistake.”
“I wasn’t drunk.”
You turned. Enji’s cerulean eyes were downcast at the laminate flooring. You opened your mouth to speak but he cut you off.
“I’m not good at this. I’m not stupid, I know the rumors about my family that people say. They aren’t all lies. I did fuck it up. I did a lot of bad, terrible things and pushed them away. Rei, and the kids...they didn’t deserve any of the pain I caused them.”
His shoulders sagged, the weight of his past overtaking him. “I did, I do love them. But I understand why they had to leave.” He sat on the small couch in the corner.
Enji felt your hand cover his, your thumb rubbing circles over his knuckles. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply.
“Enji...doing shitty things doesn’t make you a shitty person. You can’t punish yourself forever.” Your voice was soft, soothing. Enji finally met your eyes.
“I’ve already fucked that up. I fucked this up. I don’t want to hurt people I care about anymore. It’s easier this way.”
You wrapped your arms around him. The two of you made quite a sight, the smaller figure cradling the large man. You stood in front of him and he let himself relax into you, his head resting on your chest. He could smell your scent, warm and comforting, even under his shirt. Your fingers grazed his hair, holding him to you. Enji thought of the nights where he lay in bed, allowing himself to imagine your body next to him.
He was tired of being strong.
“Enji...I can’t say everything will be perfect. But punishing yourself before it starts isn’t going to do anything but cause more pain.”
He could feel your heartbeat, a steady rhythm that matched his breathing. He was aware of his hands around your body, your soft strokes in his hair. He thought about how it would feel to have your touches, hold you in his arms every day, every night.
Enji allowed himself to fall.
He raised his head, his lips meeting yours. With each kiss he silently told you his hopes, his fears, and his apologies. In turn, you gave him comfort and acceptance. He pulled you onto his lap, so you were straddling him, kissing you hard to make up for the months of missed opportunities.
You kissed for what felt like forever, never wanting to stop. His hands slid down your back and across your thighs, going under your shirt.
“You look so good in this. Wanna see this more often.” He whispered, a smirk on his face. You giggled and he had the desire to hear all of your beautiful sounds. In time, he reminded himself.
“Enji, are you flirting with me?” You teased and he pulled you close in another kiss. His hands wandered across your soft skin and he could feel the hardened peaks of your nipples through the thin cotton of the shirt. He kissed down your jaw, and your fingers grasped at his hair, causing him to groan into your neck.
“You tease me so much, Y/N.” He growled out as you grinded on his lap. You could feel his cock stir through his joggers, and you felt yourself growing wetter on his lap. He pulled your shirt up to your waist, exposing your thin panties to him. He could feel your arousal through the fabric and ran his thumb down the dark spot over your cunt. You let out a soft whimper and his eyes blazed with hunger.
Pulling your shirt above your tits, he took one in his mouth, sucking harshly. He grazed your nipple with his teeth, causing your back to arch. He switched sides, his tongue swirling around the sensitive bud. Your hips rocked against his bulge, more prominent now and he pulled away from your chest.
“I want you Enji.” Your voice was soft and seductive, and Enji felt your words go straight to his cock. Picking you up, he carried you to his room. The lights were dim and you didn’t have time to look around before he dropped you on the bed, pushing your legs apart and lapping at your cunt through your drenched panties.
“Already so excited, sweet girl. Taste so good for me.” Enji murmured into your pussy, pressing kisses and bites to your thighs. You whined, attempting to push down your panties and he laughed, a low chuckle that rumbled in his chest.
“So eager, aren’t you?”
You pouted at him. “It’s been too long and I’ve missed you so much.”
Enji was grateful for the dark room hiding the blush that spread across his face. He busied himself by dragging your panties down at an agonizingly slow pace, taking the time to admire your legs, his fingers skimming the skin causing shivers to go down your spine. Enji turned to take in the scene. Your body, draped across the sheets, mouth parted, eyes full of want staring up at him, silently begging for him. He had pictured this many times, many sleepless nights, but the reality was so much better.
“So beautiful.”  HIs voice was quiet, and his heart thumped wildly. He was nervous, even though he had already been with you once before. This time felt so raw, so much more real. He wanted to be with you in every way he could, in any way you would let him and he could tell you wanted the same.
As he pulled off his shirt, your hands slid into the waistband of his pants, grazing over the head of his throbbing cock. He groaned as your fingers slid over the sensitive head, smearing precum down the shaft. You pushed down the rest of his clothes and he kneeled between your legs. Both of you were quiet, and you could feel the excitement in the air of doing this, being with each other completely. It was vulnerable, it was scary, but he trusted you to be there when he fell. And in turn, you trusted him to be yours.
Pushing into you, your breath hitched. He felt your body clamp down on him, and he slowed, easing his way in. Your nails dug into the skin of his biceps and you gasped as he bottomed out in you.
Pressing his forehead to yours, he searched your eyes for discomfort. Instead you gazed at him with complete adoration, bright eyes completely infatuated.
“You’re perfect, Enji.” Your voice was quiet and breathy, but clear. In response he pressed a harsh kiss to your mouth, trying to explain every emotion he felt, words he couldn’t say just yet. As you kissed, he rocked into you, his thick cock dragging against your walls. Your soft moans were swallowed by his kisses, and the stinging marks left on his arms only drove him crazier. He fucked into you faster, feeling your tight cunt squeezing around him, wanting so badly to stay inside you forever.
Sweat plastered his hair to his forehead, and the room was filled with your sweet sounds, interspersed with his praises.
“Taking me so well. Such a good girl. Fuck, so beautiful.” Enji gasped out, his high imminent. Each thrust had you seeing stars and you felt like your body was floating. Moving his hands from the sheets, he slid over your clit, teasing your body. You clenched around him.
“Fuck, right there, don’t stop!” You gasped out, grasping at the bedsheets, your back arching off to meet his thrusts. Enji complied, his rhythm speeding up as he toyed with your clit and you cried out, your body squeezing his cock like a vice. You gushed around his cock, and he fucked into you faster, feeling his body heat up. With a groan he slammed into you, holding you down as he spilled into you. His hips stuttered as he filled you with every drop, and soon the room was filled with panting as both of you struggled to catch your breath.
Easing out of you, he grabbed a towel, cleaning you up before collapsing next to you. You were both quiet and you were reminded of the time before. Nervous, you turned to him and made eye contact.
“Are you staying this time?” Your voice was small and Enji saw your fingers threading the sheets, nervously.
“It’s my house.” He responded seriously. Caught off guard, you burst into laughter. He watched you amused. You looked gorgeous and he would never get used to the sound of your laughter filling the house that had been quiet for too long.
Catching your breath, you turned back to him.
“What I mean is...do you want to do this? Together?”
Enji looked at the bed that was no longer empty, felt the life and warmth that filled the house, exuding from you just being there and entwined his hand with yours.
“Yes.”

Forgive, But First Fun - Nandor x f(vampire) reader
Summary: After getting left behind to fight off a pack of werewolves on your own, now mad at Nandor, you and Nadja have decided a little night out couldn’t hurt.
Warning: slight angst, fluff, fun times, and a tiny smut mention
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Trudging angrily through the manors wooden doors, face stern and almost scary enough to put the fear of God into anyone. Your boots stomp into the large opening and onto the wooden floor boards as Gullimero, Nandor, and the documentary crew follow you in.
Your cloak is ripped and dirty as it lays in a pathetic black heap of cloth in Gullimero’s arms, your hair not looking any better, not to mention your face and arms that have various cuts paired with grass smudge marks adoring your skin. All in all you look like a hot mess.
“What the fuck happened to you lot? You’ve been gone all night.” Questions Laszlo as he walks into view from out of one of the hallways, his eyes scanning over a perfectly clean and handsome Nandor, then over to the dirty crew and disheveled Guillermo who’s got some leaves stuck to his hair.
“I don’t know.” You snap sarcastically, “How about you ask Mr. Dodgy-shit-stick over there.” Referring to Nandor who’s looking anywhere but you, keeping as silent as ever.
Gullimero looks between you and Nandor, then back at a confused Laszlo. “Oh, um they’re not speaking to each other right now.”
“And why the fuck not?”
Guillermo sighs before leaning towards Laszlo, “Nandor wanted to graffiti where the werewolves live and Y/N said he’d get caught and then Nandor said no I won’t and then he did.”
Laszlo raises a curious brow, “That’s it?”
“Oh, um....” Guillermo awkwardly scratches the back of his neck, suddenly pulling off a green leaf, “then they chased us to the park and when the pack closed in on us Nandor turned into a bat and left us behind so Y/N had to fight one of them off so we could escape and now we’re here.”
“Well that sounds rather exciting.”
“Not at the time.” Whispers Guillermo to no one in particular as he glances over at the camera.
“Huh,” Mutters Laszlo thoughtfully, scratching his beard as he thinks of how to help this situation, “well if you two dingbats aren’t talking to one another I believe Nadja needs you Y/N. Something about....well actually I’m not entirely sure.”
Perking up ever so slightly at this positive news, you cross your arms over your chest defiantly, “Well since someone does, I’ll be going then.” You grumble with a low growl at your Nandor who’s refusing to make eye contact while he stares frustrated at the floor.
Nodding in acknowledgment, Laszlo watches you stomp angrily up the steps before turning his head over to Nandor who’s now watching you leave with big sad eyes.
“Alright why’d you do it?” Interrogates Laszlo with a raised brow.
“Do whaaat?” Replies Nandor defensively, his once high and mighty aurora reappearing in an instant.
Rolling his eyes, Laszlo sets a hand on his hip sassily, “Well I sure as hell don’t want an angry Y/N wandering around this old place for the next however the fuck it takes you both to make up....in however fashion that may be. So I ask again, why’d you puss out and flee like a mangy opossum?”
Pursing his lips together in apprehensive embarrassment, Nandor mutters to himself before finally crossing his arms over his broad chest and sighing, “Because......I....I don’t know I panicked!” Exclaims the large vampire, causing Laszlo to start laughing. “Why are you laughing?”
Wiping a fake tear from his eye, Laszlo lets out a few more chuckles before finally composing himself, “My good man that is the second saddest thing I’ve ever heard. The first being when one of my many victims offered me one of their rare and exclusive Poki-muns card which I still have no idea what the fuck they were on about. Anyways, doesn’t matter, all I’ll tell is that you better make it up to her.”
“But she’s scary when she’s angryyy.” Whines Nandor with a frown.
“That’s all women my young pup, but since your lovely lady is a vampire she’s more dangerous.” He says while giving Nandor a kind pat on the back, “So uh, stay safe out there.” Adds Laszlo before turning and walking down the hallway leaving Nandor with his thoughts, Gullimero, and the documentary’s camera crew.
“What are you all looking at!” Snaps Nandor to the rest of the room.
——
“Oh my goodnessess that’s awful, my poor dark angel.” Soothes Nadja as you take a moment from your long and needed rant about the adventures in the park and Nandor’s cowardly stupidity. “That big hairy rhino doesn’t deserve you Y/N.” She reasons honestly, doing her best to make you feel better, knowing all to well the level of competent decision making skills of the other two vampires in the house.
“I know.” You mutter in agreement, your body tense and agitated as you pace back and forth in front of her as she sits in a chair, “Fucking beautiful idiot prick horse-fart of a husband. Urgghhh!” You proclaim loudly while throwing your hands into the air angrily, causing the furniture in the room to screech backwards across the old flooring at your outburst of vampiric energy. Nadja’s long obsidian hair blowing backwards as you do so while she keeps seated, unflinching.
Face softening, she gives you a sympathetic smile, “Oh my lovely fierce lioness, I know exactly what will make that sad little frown turn into a happy one.” Beams Nadja with an excited clap of her hands.
Hugging your sides, you let out a frustrated huff before giving your old friend a shrug, “What do you have in mind?”
——
“So we’re at the carnival!” Claps Nadja in delight as she smiles at the camera, “This will hopefully relieve Y/N’s pent up angers and keep her mind off of Nandor.....for now.” She adds a bit uncertainly.
“HA HA take that fuckers!” You shout joyfully from behind her, the camera panning over to you at the ball toss where you’ve been knocking down plastic bottles with a rubber ball. The stall owner cowering in the corner as he shields himself with a stuffed zebra.
The camera focuses back on Nadja, “I think it’s going really well so far.” She confirms with a convincing grin. “Relieving all that..uh....rage.”
After winning a stuffed snake taller then you and deciding to wear it as a strange fashionable scarf, you and Nadja are wandering the carnivals streets while people watching to pass the time.
“So that’s why I never walk on the roof after 3am when I’ve had homeless man’s blood.” Rambles Nadja as your thoughts about Nandor come trickling down into your brain and nose. Huh, strange, must be cause you’re still wearing a thin red scarf of his.
No, stop thinking about him.
“Good lesson learned then,” You add with the flash of a smile before nudging her shoulder gently, “hey you wanna watch me win you something cool?”
Perking up in an instant, Nadja smiles a devilish fangy grin as she stops to eye up the multiple game stalls, “Why I would be delighted my dear Y/N, how about....um, oooh I want that giant tropical fishy with the long whiskers over there.” Points Nadja as your eyes travel over to the game stall with the large prizes.
It’s a game that requires the individual to shoot an arrow directly on three different sized bullseye’s stationed at various heights. Smiling like an idiot, you nudge your vampiric acquaintance in agreement, the both of you quickly swaggering over to the carnival game and it’s plush flashy prizes just screaming to be won.
“Hello good sir, my skilled roommate Y/N here is going to win me that fish.” Beams Nadja proudly as the teenager jumps off his chair to greet the two of you.
He smells like weed but surprisingly looks decent all things considered, “Uh yeah alright, two bucks for three arrows, hit every target directly on the middle red mark and if you make it on the bonus poster on the far back wall then you’ll have a chance to win that fish, good luck.” Mumbles the kid unenthusiastically as you slide him the cash.
Picking up the shitty yet still functional carnival bow, you give Nadja a wink before fitting an arrow in the nock and pulling back, lining up the shot and releasing directly into the first target to the left. Smirking to yourself you quickly draw again, hitting your second mark just as intended. Pays to be a skilled archer huh.
“Damn that’s pretty good aim.” Nods the teen as he watches in awe as you fit another arrow, releasing and punching a hole in the middle of the third target.
Nadja claps in excitement from behind you, “Yes! Win me that colorful fat bitch my feisty lioness!”
Standing like a warrior ready for battle with your bow in hand and wind blowing in your face, the kid almost drops the arrow he hands you for the winning shot as he practically swoons.
“Get those scissors ready, that fish is mine.” You growl in determination while picturing Nandor’s head as the final target, drawing back, you let the arrow fly straight into the bonus target. Winning Nadja her giant fish plushy.
“Yessss!” Shouts Nadja in delight as you drop the bow onto the table like a bad bitch before eyeing up the kid with a raised brow, “We’ll be taking the fish now.”
Wide eyed he almost falls off his chair, “Wait um, that’s the last one...I didn’t think, uh, my boss doesn’t want me to give away those ones.” He stutters out.
“What!” Snaps Nadja, “Then why are they just hanging there? You lied to us you little shit!”
“I’m sorry.” He pleads apologetically, “That’s what my boss told me. And no one ever wins the big prizes anyway so I didn’t think...”
“Well your boss he can eat a big horse turd cause I’m taking that fish.” You growl before jumping up and unhooking the fish from its perch above your heads, handing it to a practically glowing with joy Nadja who immediately hugs the thing.
Sticking your tongue out at the teen, you and Nadja turn to leave before a boney hand is suddenly on your shoulder, twisting around in an agitated instant, your face is mere inches from the wide eyed boy as he attempts to look even a tad bit threatening.
“No.” Is the only thing that slips from your tongue before your hand shoves him back, his whole body going air bound into the back of the carnival tent while the kid lets out a panicked scream.
“Ooooh Y/N that was very sexy of you.” Smirks Nadja while wiggling her dark brows, “Too bad a certain cowardly lion wasn’t here to see it.”
Petting the stuffed toy snake around your neck absentmindedly, you smile back a fangy grin, “Yes. Too bad.”
Continuing on your late night stroll through the carnival you both pass by random strangers, families, elders, children, and lovers all minding their sweet business completely unawares to the dark supernatural world walking right past them.
Although you’re quite enjoying this time spent with your best friend in the whole wide world, a low dull feeling of emptiness can’t help but creep into your undead being the more you catch sight of new and old couples walking together.
Sensing your growing sadness, Nadja nudges your shoulder playfully to gain your distracted attention, “Hello in there my black rose, what is on your mind?”
Holding the snake close to your body, a small smile creeps its way onto your face knowing she’s looking out for you, though it’s gone soon enough, “Oh you know....uh....blood.” You mutter unenthusiastically, trying to keep your thoughts away from Nandor and how much you miss him right now.
“Blood is it? But we just fed before attending the carnival.” Inquires Nadja in confusion as she keeps a normal pace at your side while the two of you follow the sidewalk past various shops and restaurants. “What is actually plaguing your mind my dear one?” She wonders with a frown, not keen on seeing you upset and in a grey mood.
Biting your lip anxiously, though not hard enough to draw blood, you walk past a couple more people before your eyes catch the sight of a small black bat disappearing behind a corner building just up ahead.
Squinting your eyes, your nose suddenly catches the scent of someone very familiar, “Nandor?”
Turning her head to face you, Nadja’s brows furrow in puzzlement, “What? No my sweet hurricane, forget that mangy old bear hes not important right now.” Urges Nadja as she looks forward, suddenly surprised to catch a glimpse of someone who looks a lot like Guillermo racing behind the same corner you saw the bat fly behind. “Okay um what the fuck? Did you see that too?”
Glancing at Nadja you nod before quickening your steps as she does the same, her skirts flowing as she tries to catch up with you, though you’re much faster and with lack of annoying dress material, “Wait! You’re too fast.” Yelps Nadja.
Ignoring her protests you book it down the sidewalk like a maniac, almost running into a jogger before skidding round the corner of the brick building and coming face to face with a wide eyed Guillermo who gasps in surprise. Nudging him to the side, your eyes immediately fall upon the nervous fangy grin of your Nandor.
He gives you a shy little wave before shuffling awkwardly in place, awaiting your rampage of verbal and possibly physical assault that he’s certain is in the near future.
Taking a deep breath, you cross your arms over your chest defensively, “Were you following me?”
“Um, well.....I might have been....but only to make sure you were okay.” Mutters Nandor honestly, eyes shifting from you to the ground nervously as he awaits your wrath.
Pursing your lips together in thought, you shake your head before taking off the stuffed toy snake and holding it firmly in your hands. With a low growl do you grasp the snake in your right hand and hold it back like you might swing at any moment.
“You’re a fucking nincompoop you know that right?” Slips from your mouth without an once of anger lacing your words, instead do you hand the snake to Gullimero as Nandor watches in puzzled fear.
Taking a swift step forward, you point a finger into his strong chest while looking sternly up at him, “Racing off and leaving me too fight that angry bitch all by myself, and now following me when I needed a break from you! Nandor....... you’re something else.” You add with a shake of your head.
“Yes I know, and I’m sorry my love.” Smiles Nandor with saddened eyes, “I promise to keep you save from now on and fight off any werewolf who tries to hurt you....even if I am scared.”
Taking a step back, you can’t help the smirk that forms onto your face at his sweet words of forgiveness and sincerity. You know how much he fears werewolves and that he fled the scene thinking you were planning on following too, not realizing that you might actually give a shit about Gullimero’s and the crew’s lives.
“Oh my dear puff dragon,” You declare softly with a small smile, reaching both hands out to grasp his own, “I forgive you.”
Nandor’s face breaks out into the biggest and happiest grin you’ve seen since his last birthday when he walked into your shared crypt only to find you naked and holding a bushel of red roses while seated seductively on his coffin.
“Oh that’s fantastic because I was really missing you.” Reveals Nandor with a gentle squeeze of your hands. “Laszlo and Guillermo can’t make me laugh nearly as much as you can, they’re honestly rather boring.” He says before leaning in closer to whisper, “and not very attractive to look at either.” Causing you to crack another grin and your undead heart to fill with butterflies.
Chuckling you reach up with one hand to pull his collar closer to you and a second later do your lips clash sweetly against one another in a heated moment of passion. He smiles into the kiss before moving to pull you in closer with both of his hands, one slipping low to cheekily pinch your round bottom.
Feeling him against you once again has to be the best sensation in the whole entirety of the world even if you’ve only been separated for a couple of hours. You absolutely love the way his fingers dig into your back and bum with an animalistic eagerness that’s slowly starting to drive you insane. Oh, the things he does to you.
Especially how his tongue slips into your mouth with ease while you tug at his hair long dark locks. “Y/N!” Suddenly shouts Nadja.
“Nandor!”
Begrudgingly pulling away, you turn around to face the confused lady vampire while Nandor hugs you from behind, happily smirking at her, knowing she can’t do anything to hurt him now. “Yes Nadja.” You answer.
With the fish plushy hung over her shoulder, her brows furrow in confusion, “What the fuck are you doing? I thought you were mad at him?”
“Yeah well, I was starting to really miss him and also I’m kind of horny now so.” You reply with a shrug as Nandor hugs you tighter, resting his bearded chin against your head while Nadja huffs in defeat.
“Alright. See you at home then.” Adds Nadja before turning towards Guillermo and shoving the giant carnival fish into his arms, “Hold this Gizmo I’m going home.” Then just like that she’s gone in a black wispy poof, flying away in bat form towards the vampire resistance on Staten Island.
“Okay then.” Mutters Gullimero as he looks up at the dark sky.
Feeling a wet kiss on the side of your face and neck you smile before turning around to face your dear husband, “Shall we take flight to seek out our bed chambers?” You speak slyly in a soft yet seductive voice.
“Yes.” Grins Nandor with a flash of lust and excitement before turning his attention over to Guillermo, “Hey Guillermo I’m leaving to make passionate love to my wife so don’t bother us or I will have a rat shit in your pillowcase. Okay?”
You giggle to yourself as Gullimero’s cheeks redden while he side eyes the camera, “Understood master. Have fun.” Squeaks out the loyal familiar as he stands there awkwardly with his hands full of two carnival prizes.
Nandor sneakily squeezes your bottom once more as he gives Gullimero a knowing smirk, “Oh, we will.” Then a second later you two are flying high above the city in bat form, ready to make love to your sweet Nandor for probably the twentieth time that week.
Down below the camera pans over to Gullimero as he blinks, “Well uh, I have these things now..” He says, holding up the fish, “and I am so not looking forward to cleaning up their mess.......again.”

{***}{***}{***}
Oh boy, it was just one of those days… I could just feel it in my body that I was going to be an asshole today and nothing anyone could do could stop me from that. My sassy mood would be the one thing that gets me in trouble today, and I think I’m honestly okay with that.
I walked into the bedroom, wearing nothing but my undergarments (which consisted of my personal favorite black/mint lingerie), and tan stockings. Matthew was sitting on the edge of the bed, tying his shoes. I walked over to the closet, right past him. We should and are getting ready for a dinner party with his friends from Criminal Minds. Should being the key-word there. I loved messing with him like that.
“Woah,” he spoke ever so softly. I stayed facing the closet, but a smile grew on my lips. I gently swayed my hips as I went through the dresses I had hanging. He was staring, I knew he had to be staring. I pulled one dress out, not really thinking it’d be the one.
“What should I wear,” I asked out to the room. The sounds of his shoes hitting the wood flooring was the answer I got instead of his voice. I pouted as I dropped my head to my shoulder, my hair hitting my arm. I jumped as his icy cold hands and arms wrapped around my middle. His face was pressed into my neck. He exhaled deeply before kissing the base of my throat. I smiled as he swayed with my movements.
“I think you should go like this. Show you off to all my friends,” Matthew hummed as he dragged his hands to the front of my hips. My hands stopped on two separate dresses and clenched the fabric in my fingers. “I think they’d enjoy that… I know I would,” he added, his thumbs playing with the lacy edges of my panties. I took a deep breath and stepped back, so I was flush against his body.
“Matthew, obviously I can’t just go in my underwear.” I scoffed as he pushed me so there was a small space between us. I sighed deeply as he stepped away from me. “I’ll figure it out,” I rolled my eyes as he retreated to the bed. I filed through my dresses again before pulling out a black cocktail dress that I knew would drive Matthew crazy during the night. I dashed off to the bathroom to finish getting ready. “Zip me up?” I asked as I stepped back into the bedroom and stood behind Matthew. Shuffling came from behind me before he zipped my dress up.
“Ready to go?” he whispered. His breath hit the shell of my ear, causing me to swallow roughly.
“Almost. Let me get my things together and I should be ready,” I sighed deeply. It’s going to be one of those nights, I just know it. Matthew pressed his lips to my cheek before walking away from me, again.
And that was my cue. I was quick. I’ve never been so fast to get ready for an event. He was probably getting out into the car as we speak. I grabbed a tube of lip gloss from the bathroom and tossed it into my bag before slipping a pair of plain black heels on. And then, I left the house.
And, as per my guess, Matthew was already sitting in his station wagon, waiting for me. I shuffled to the passenger’s side of the car and pulled the door open.
I looked over at Matthew as I slipped into the car. He was looking at himself in the mirror of the visor. I swallowed roughly as my eyes trailed from his perfectly sculpted face (lingering for a moment on his lips), down to his neck (where I would love to leave love bites), down his chest (and even though he was wearing a suit, I wanted to push off his dress shirt), and finally, down to his lap (a lap I would just love to sit on). And he was just there… Sitting there, doing his thing like I wasn’t imagining wanting to rip his clothes off to have sex with him right now.
He dropped his hands from his face and rested them on his legs. I stared for a moment at his hands and their placement on his legs. I could feel my heart pick up and my head getting mildly dizzy. I took a deep breath and shook my head as I looked up at his face.
“Mm, now that’s a lap I could sit on,” I grinned at Matthew as I buckled my seatbelt in. The thought of grinding my ass into his crotch made me giggle lightly as I stared at him.
Matthew gawked as he looked over at me, his hands resting low on the steering wheel. I smiled as I folded my hands over my lap. I could feel Matthew’s eyes still on me as I looked out the window.
“What did you just say?” he asked as he slowly started the car. I hummed before looking over at him. He was still staring at me with a dumbfounded expression on his face.
“Hm? Oh! I said are you ready? I can’t wait to see Kirsten and AJ.” I smiled as I looked at him. He raised an eyebrow, but his expression was now amused instead of shocked. At least he’s amused now…
“Oh, yeah, I’m sure that’s exactly what you said, Princess,” Matthew glanced at me as he started his car and pulled out of the driveway. I couldn’t tell if he actually meant to call me that pet name, or if he was just teasing. Either way, he knows it gets me going.
“And, Aisha! Oh! I miss her!” I clapped my hands together. Matthew seemed to enjoy my excitement at seeing his friends and co-workers. It’s been a while since the wrap party for the show, so it’s been a while since either of us had seen them. “I still owe her $10 for that prank she helped me play when I visited the set that one day,” I grinned at Matthew.
“Yeah, sure, because stealing and hiding my fruit roll-ups is a prank,” he rolled his eyes as he glanced at me. I smiled and nodded. “Finding them a month later though was quite a pleasant surprise. I will admit that,” he laughed lightly.
“Listen, Matthew, you were the one who invited me to set. It’s not my fault I got bored while you were filming. Someone had to keep me entertained. I’m sorry it was Aisha who took that job. We had fun that day,” I laughed as I turned to face him. I crossed my legs as I looked at him.  I pulled my purse off my body and put it in the backseat, accidentally hitting Matthew in the face. “I’m so sorry.” I looked at him with wide eyes. He looked at me with a playful irritation on his face.
“Accidents happen, just don’t let it happen again,” he glanced at me. I smiled and nodded.
“Won’t let it happen again,” I looked out the windshield.
The drive to the restaurant was in a comfortable, yet somehow tense, silent. I couldn’t help myself when it came to making a comment or innuendo of some sort. Matthew didn’t seem too crazy bothered by it, if anything it looked like he enjoyed it. Of course, I knew I needed to stop before we went in. So, I stayed silent when he pulled into a parking spot.
“You ready?” Matthew asked as he pushed the visor down. I reached back for my purse and pulled it in the front. I “accidentally” hit Matthew in the back of the head with my bag as I pulled it onto my lap. Oh, no, the first time was definitely an accident. The second time was 100% on purpose. No accident this time.
He dropped his shoulders and looked over at me, annoyance on his face. I looked down at my lap and bit my lips to refrain from smiling. Oh boy, I wonder what he’s going to do. Surely he won’t yell at me.
“Choke me, daddy,” I very jokingly teased as I looked at Matthew. He looked at me with shock on his face. I smirked as I began digging around in my purse for lip gloss. When I looked back up, Matthew threw his hand over my neck and pushed my head against the headrest. I widened my eyes and looked at him. I was relieved that he was just holding his hand there, not applying any pressure. But part of me really wanted him to do it. “I was joking,” I stated in a tone that said I wasn’t sure of myself.
“I’m not so sure you were… Princess,” Matthew smiled at me before removing his hand and turning back to the visor. I pouted at the lack of his touch and looked at him. I moved closer to him and looked up at his face. “Can I help you,” he looked away from the tiny visor mirror and down at me. I smiled and nodded before puckering my lips.
“Please,” I whispered and batted my eyelashes at him. He laughed before kissing my lips lightly. I pouted as I turned back in my seat. I glanced at Matthew and noticed that he was still fixing his mess of hair in the mirror. I turned back to face him, grabbing his hand again. He glanced at me for a moment before looking back at his reflection. I slowly brought his hand back to my throat and looked at him.
I swallowed roughly as I stared at him, keeping his hand on my throat. Matthew just continued to mess around with his hair. “Are you busy with my hand,” he asked looking at me. I pouted and pushed his hand away from me.
“No, I’m not,” I muttered before looking down at my phone. I looked at Matthew and pouted. “But I’d like to be,” I glared at him as I placed my hand high on my bare thigh.
“Hold on, what do you think you’re doing,” Matthew asked as his hand shot out to grasp my wrist. I smirked and looked over at him, pushing his hand off mine.
“Well, I wanna have fun before we go in and you won’t have fun with me. So, I’m gonna do it myself. Unless you want to change your mind,” I snipped back as I brought my hand to my panties. I honestly should’ve just forgone the underwear tonight. I don’t know why I didn’t. I could feel through the thin fabric that I was wet. He didn’t even do a damn thing to get me as wet as I am. But here I am, nearly sitting in a puddle. I suppose he just has that effect on me.
I looked at Matthew as I slid my hand into my panties and pressed a finger into my center, collecting some wetness on my finger. I gasped and lightly closed my eyes. I slowly moved my finger around my clit as I looked back at Matthew. He was silently watching me for a minute. The way he looked at me told me he was pissed. I've never seen him so mad before. I let out a soft moan as I pressed my head into the headrest.
“Matthew,” I whimpered as I looked at him. He shifted slightly in his seat as he looked back at me. I slowly circled my finger around my clit as I locked eyes with him. My breathing grew labored as I brought my free hand to my breast, kneading it over my shirt and bra. Just as I started to pick up speed, Matthew’s hand grasped my wrist and stilled my movements. I looked at him, alarmed and frustrated. He seriously did not just do that.
“Get in the backseat, we’ll have to be quick,” he muttered as he yanked my hand from my panties. I looked at him with wide eyes. He was looking at my wet finger before putting it in his mouth. I took a deep breath, feeling more overwhelmed by the second. “Go on,” he half-ordered as he nodded to the back seat. “Don’t make me say it again,” he muttered when I stayed frozen in my seat. I nodded before getting out of the front seat and trying to move fast to the back.
I sat in the middle of the bench seat and shimmied out of my panties. Matthew was quick to sit beside me in the backseat. He didn’t even give me time to understand what was about to happen. That’s okay, I just know I’ll get what I want.
He gently pushed me so I was lying across the bench and he hovered over me and in between my legs. One of his knees stayed between my legs, making it so I couldn’t press them together for any sort of pleasure. Part of me hated it when he was like this, but another part loved it. He knew that too.
“You are being such a bad girl,” he whispered, bringing his hand back to my throat. I gasped and pressed my head into the seat. I looked up at him and nodded, telling him it was more than okay to do this. He gently and carefully put pressure into his grip as he stared down at me. I struggled slightly to breathe as I locked eyes with him again. “Touching yourself in the parking lot before we go into a dinner party… With my friends nonetheless,” he kept his voice low. Matthew brought his other hand down between my legs, resting it at the top of my thighs.
“I’m sorry,” I struggled to speak as I threw a hand over his one on my neck. He cocked his head slightly as he stared at me.
“You’re sorry, Princess?” he questioned, slowly moving his hand closer to my center. My eyes rolled into the back of my head as he moved my panties to the side. I tried to swallow roughly and nodded. “Sorry just isn’t going to do it,” he spoke, causing me to open my eyes.
I tapped my fingers on the back of his hand, silently telling him that I really needed air. His eyes flashed slightly with concern as he removed his hand. I took a deep breath like it was my first time breathing. It was like fire in my lungs as I inhaled and felt like I was mildly high as I exhaled.
“I won’t do it again,” I whispered as I looked up at him. We both knew that I was clearly lying when I said that. Any chance I get to act like this, I’ll do it. A small smile twitched on his lips as he inserted a finger into my center. I gasped and closed my eyes as he pumped his finger in and out of me.
“I don’t believe you,” he whispered, pushing his hand into my hair. I stared at him, shock on my face. “You know you’ll have to be punished for that. Right, Princess,” he asked as he rubbed my clit with his thumb.  I whimpered and bit my lips together before nodding. “Mm-hmm, use your words,” his words were low. I swallowed roughly and stared at him.
“Yes, yes, I know. I know,” I spoke fast like if I didn’t speak fast enough I wouldn’t have words to say. I brought my hands to his belt buckle, going to undo his belt. I yelped when he grabbed both my hands with his one free hand. He held my hands above my head and smiled down at me.
“I’m in charge here, Princess, you know that,” Matthew moved his thumb faster. I wiggled and nodded. He leaned down close to my ear before whispering, “You don’t get to come till I tell you you can. Okay?” his tone was mildly teasing. His breath hit the shell of my ear, causing me to shiver slightly. I took a deep and shaky breath as I stared at him, a certain excitement setting in my belly. I was okay with it, honestly.
“Matthew,” I whined as I inadvertently bucked my hips to his hand. He pulled his hand away from my center, causing me to whine loudly. I stared at him in protest. “Yes, I understand,” I cried as I stared at him. He smiled before sticking his fingers between my lips. I sucked them clean, free of my arousal, as I stared at him. He smiled at me before pulling his fingers from my mouth and placing his hand on my jawline.
“Good girl,” he whispered. But the way he said it told me I wasn’t really a good girl. No, I knew I wasn’t a good girl. However, I was getting what I wanted, so who’s really winning and in charge? I just needed to be like this more often.
Matthew removed his hand from my face and down to his belt. Somehow, he managed to get his belt buckle undone with one hand, and managed to undo his pants. I looked down as he pulled himself out of his pants and boxers. I whined and tried to pull my hands. My hips ground into the seat beneath me to get some sort of pleasure.
“Wanna touch you,” I cried as I pulled my hands from his grip. He laughed as his grip on my wrists got a little tighter. “Please,” I whined looking between his face and down at his length. “Matthew, please,”
“You should have thought of that before that stunt you pulled,” he whispered before stroking himself a few times. I let out a loud whine and wiggled in my spot. He groaned slowly before lining himself up to my entrance.
I’ve never wanted to touch this man so badly in my entire life. I wanted to run my hands in his hair, tugging at the hair on the back of his head. I wanted to drag my hands all over his chest, leaving red scratchy marks in their wake. And I wanted to wrap my fingers and hands around his cock. He is killing me right now.
The head of his cock was pressed against me, causing me to inhale deeply. He smiled before slowly entering me. I struggled to stay still and quiet as he slowly bottomed out. I swallowed roughly as my breathing became ragged.
“Oh, Princess,” Matthew mocked as he looked down at me as he slowly started moving his hips. I whimpered as I continuously tried to pull my hands from his grip. A smile twitched on his lips again, further frustrating me. Bastard knows how to mess with me and I hated it more than anything in the world.
Matthew slowly, and carefully, picked up the pace of his hips. The way he brought his lips to mine made me feel dizzy. He knew how to kiss, with lips like his? Of course, he knew how to kiss. He carefully bit my lower lip before kissing his way down my jaw and to my neck. He left a small love bite on the nape of my neck, making it difficult to breathe. This level of excitement would kill me.
“Fuck,” I cried, throwing my head to the side. Matthew laughed and shook his head. A moan so loud, I swear it came from the pit of my stomach, came from my lips. He laughed again as he looked down at me
"You need to be a little quieter," he whispered into my ear. He clamped a hand over my mouth and nose to silence me. I whimpered against his hand and nodded.
He has to know how close I’m getting. I was about to be in more trouble than I already am. He keeps playing me the way he is. If he did anything else, I would be screwed. No, no wait. I already am screwed, or being screwed.
“You getting close,” he grunted. I sighed and nodded, trying to hold back a moan. His face twitched as he smiled at me. I closed my eyes, not wanting to look too long at him. I knew if I kept my eyes on him I’d break. I can’t break now. He’s right though, I am getting close.
I nodded, as if my answer would give me what I wanted. He smiled before pressing his lips to mine in a rough way. When he finally pulled his hand from my wrists, I pushed my hands through his hair and kept them firmly placed on the back of his head. He groaned as I tugged lightly on his hair.
“Mmm,” I looked up at him as he pulled his head away from me. I bit my lips together and nodded. I wrapped my legs around his waist to pull him closer to me. My heels dug into his lower back as I gripped his tie with one hand.
Matthew hooked his arm under one of my knees and lifted my leg slightly to get a better angle. I cried when a burn started to grow in my hamstring, but also when he pressed deeper into me. I closed my eyes and pressed my head into the seat. I could feel myself getting closer. Maybe he forgot what he said?
And then he stopped his movements. I opened my eyes and looked up at him, feeling anger grow suddenly on my face. Matthew was looking down at me with a smile on his lips. Although, I knew it must’ve been hard for him to stop. He was just happy to see me suffer.
“I hate you. Please, please,” I pulled on his tie to bring him closer to my face. Matthew smiled at me before pressing his lips to mine. I whined against his lips. He laughed before slowly moving his hips again. “I’m so close,” I managed to get out through pants.
“Yeah,” he asked the obvious. I screwed my eyes shut and nodded. I’m sure if I had it in me, I would have been more than sarcastic. But I couldn’t even begin to try. I’m sure he would keep teasing me if I was sarcastic, so my best bet was to either stay quiet or let out a grotesque sound. I went with the latter. That seemed to please Matthew.
“Promise you won’t do that again,” he brought his hand to push my hair away from my face, before resting it on my cheek. I swallowed roughly and nodded. “Uh, use your words, Princess,”
“I… I promise…” I spoke, my voice was soft and shaky. I pressed both my hands flat on his chest as I looked up at him. He smiled softly and nodded.
“Come on, come for me,” he whispered, keeping his hips moving at a steady pace. After a moment, I felt my body snap and tighten around him. I threw my arms back around his neck as I buried my face into his body. I shouted his name when I reached my high. My body arched up into his, and he held me close.
Matthew’s movements faltered slightly and a groan fell from his lips. I could feel him release inside me as he rode out his orgasm. Oh, that bastard.
He gently rested me back down on the seat. I looked up at him and laughed, bringing my hands to rest on his cheeks. He looked down at me, smiled before laughing.
“I don’t know what’s so funny,” he mused as he moved away from me and sat at the way opposite end of the seat. I stayed lying down, watching as he tucked himself back in his pants.
“I didn’t know you could do that,” I smiled at him, watching as he went to the front seat. He moved a few things around before coming back to me with a handful of napkins and a pack of wet wipes. “I think I might have to break my promise and do that again,” I laughed at him again.
“Well, now we’re late, so I hope you’re happy,” he mumbled as he cleaned between my legs. I flinched at the coolness of the wipes. When he finished cleaning me up, as best he could, he grasped my hands and pulled me so I was sitting up. I looked at him and smiled.
“Yeah, I got my fun,” I kissed his lips. I reached upfront for my bag and pushed Matthew out of the car. I quickly fixed my hair in the reflection of the window before following close behind him.
Of course, when we entered the restaurant, loud chatter came from the far side. Everything told me that it was Matthew’s friends doing all the talking.
“There he is!” A familiar and friendly voice shouted as we got closer to the table. I stood beside Matthew and smiled at him. “With his lovely girlfriend,”
“Kirsten! It’s great to see you,” I smiled at her when I saw who was talking. I walked around to embrace her. Shemar whispered something to Adam before looking over at Matthew, then at me, and then back at me.
"So sorry we're late," Matthew spoke as he pulled a chair out for me. I glanced at him before sitting. He sat beside me and smiled. "I forgot something at home and had to turn back to get it. And then the traffic here was awful." The lie he told was so easy. I'm impressed he told it so easily.
"And I needed to change. There was a stain on the front of my dress." I looked down at my dress that I’ve been in since we left the house. I did not change...
“You’re both walking like you just had sex,” Shemar looked between Matthew and I. I looked up at Matthew before looking at the table. I could feel my cheeks warm up. “You didn’t,”
“Yeah, we… we just had sex.” I muttered.

second chance ; 1/5 || writer!daniel x fem!artist!reader
Tumblr media
(gif credit to @/magsam)
summary: you continue to dwell on your past as you prepare to open your art gallery
warnings: daniel's boss is a little creepy - like flirty but in power creepy, idk how to tag that, nothing bad happens she just obvi wants in his pants (but don't we all), 18+ although no smut
word count: 6,637
pairing: writer!daniel x fem!artist!reader
a/n: here's my soft fic!! please enjoy!! :) also i should note that writer!daniel is based around sebastian from ich und kaminski - i just changed the name to daniel, but really only loosely based so that's why i'm not considering this to be a sebastian fic!
He woke to the lull sound of music being played in the shop below his flat. With a groan, he pulled his head from under the pillow, squinting at the sun that peeked through his curtains before turning towards the clock on his nightstand.
12:17 PM
Another groan left him as his face fell back into the pillows. He had to be at work by one and he wasn’t even out of bed - and he should be on the road leaving in thirteen minutes! This, however, was not uncommon for Daniel - he was often late, running behind from sleeping off his hangover or just simply not caring enough to pick up his feet and move quicker.
He was half tempted to call off, tell his boss that he had a relative that passed or that he was ill.
“I thought your great-aunt just recently passed away?” Daniel’s boss questioned over the phone, her tone more annoyed than confused. He could hear the restaurant clatter through the phone, indicating that it was a rather busy day.
“Yes, that was on my mother’s side, this one is on my father’s,” He picked up a pair of socks off the ground to see if they were clean or at least passed the smell check. “Tragic, I’m not sure what I’m going to do without them.”
He sniffed the socks and threw them away from his face in the same motion, holding back the cough as he shook the smell out of his nose. Daniel knew he had been putting off laundry for too long, the clear evidence being the pair of socks he mistakenly picked up.
Moving to the bathroom to take a shower and get around for the day. Daniel kept his cellphone pressed to his ear, held by the crook of his shoulder while he waited to hear what his boss would say to him.
“Fine,” She finally responded after a moment. Her tone was short, biting like a sting, “But I expect you back on your next shift. We can’t afford to keep losing waiters.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Opening up the medicine cabinet he grabbed his deodorant stick, swiping it a few times under each armpit before feeling satisfied enough to move on, “I’ll be there.”
When he heard the click he swiftly let his phone drop from his shoulder, catching it with his hand before setting it on the top of the toilet next to his sink, continuing to get ready for the day. Even though he wasn’t going into work today, he could still at least get ready instead of basking away in his own stench from the previous night.
Finally pushing himself out of bed after laying for another few minutes, Daniel rummaged through the clothes on the floor, finding the cleanest uniform out of the dirty clothes before tossing them on his bed, moving to the bathroom to get ready. When he got to the bathroom, he nearly cringed at the sight of him.
It was quite obvious that he had a long night, the dark circles around his eyes screamed that he didn’t sleep well and his hair was matted to his head. He couldn’t remember who he had over, or what her name even started with. Was it an s? Sienna? Sierra? Sally? Who fucking cares.
He did a half-assed job brushing his teeth, more so focused on just getting the taste of whiskey out of his mouth so that nobody assumed he was drunk on the job. He already got let go from another job for that.
After the taste was most of the way out, Daniel quickly rinsed his face off and pulled his hair back into a low bun. He didn’t look bad - but it was clear that he had a rough night.
Surprisingly he was out of the door sooner than he imagined. Ascending down the stairs, he made sure to have his steps extra heavy to piss the store owners under him off. A smirk was present on Daniel’s face when he jumped one by one down the final few steps, hearing the store owner yell for him to ‘bugger off’ from inside.
“Kiss my ass.” Daniel mumbled, pushing the door open before making his way onto the sidewalk, pulling out a cigarette from his pocket and lighter, sparking the stick as he made his way down the road to work.

Everything felt so off, yet so right. Something was missing, but you couldn’t pin what it was just yet. The gallery exceeded your expectations - Vee exceeded your expectations, she always seemed to go above and beyond when it came to your work.
“And how does she like it? Do we get her seal of approval?” The museum’s art curator questioned, standing off to the side so that you and Vee could take it all in.
He was a short man, the rectangle frames glasses that were a bright orange that matched with his orange suit. You wondered if perhaps the glasses were real, or were they fake and more of a fashion statement? Did he have a matching pair of glasses for each outfit?
You didn’t realize how out of it you were until you felt Vee nudge you, answering for the curator.
“She loves it, do forgive her, she’s just taken back is all.” Vee explained, smiling towards the curator as he nodded, relief washing over him as he continued to showcase the room in the museum that was dedicated to your work.
You let out a sigh and trailed behind Vee. You felt bad for not being so animated, but you couldn’t help it - you just weren’t in the best mental spot right now. It was quite obvious too, at least to everyone around you. When the three of you reached the back of the gallery, the curator turned and pulled his lips into a tight smile.
“Well, if there is anything else we can do before your opening, please, let us know,” He turned to Vee and bowed her way in goodbye, “You have my number, just call if there is anything.” He turned on his heels and made his way out of the room, his footsteps echoing until he left and then...nothing.
You let out a soft exhale and sat down on the bench that was placed in front of the back wall, staring up at a few of your paintings. Your shoulders were slacked, a frown on your face as you toyed with your bracelet that was on your left wrist, twirling the string around your fingers. Moving around the bench, Vee took a seat beside you, letting her purse fall to the ground at her feet, looking up at your pieces.
“If this isn’t something you want to do anymore, I can let him know,” She began, your head shooting up, looking at her with wide eyes, “He won’t be pleased, but I suppose it’d be better to hear from me than you.” She stated, eyes flickering from one painting to the next.
You shook your head, shocked that Vee would even suggest canceling the opening. What made her think that? Did she think you didn’t want this anymore? No, of course you wanted this, this was something you’ve dreamt about since you were a little girl.
“What are you saying, Vee? Of course I want this still, you’ve worked so hard and did such a wonderful job with this, I wouldn’t want to have all your hard work go to waste.” You explained, looking towards her now. She smiled, staring at the painting off to her right before turning her head the other way towards you.
“My dear, this isn’t about me. This is about you. My job is to get you where you need to be and make your dreams come true. I won’t be upset if you change your mind. We can wait to open your gallery, wait until next year or this winter perhaps. Whatever you wan-”
“I want this. I just-” You let out a sigh and dropped your head again, looking at your feet for a moment before back up at the wall, tears in your eyes, “I just thought it would be different, I suppose.”
“What do you mean?” Vee questioned, her left hand resting on your back, her right on your hands, squeezing them. You didn’t know how to put it into words, and that was the issue. You didn’t know why you felt the way you did, or where it came from. The room wasn’t empty, yet at the same time, something was missing.
“I just, something is missing...and I can’t figure out what it is,” You began, standing up from your spot on the bench and circling it, looking now from the back towards the front of the gallery. “When I come into this room, I want to love it, I do love it, but something just isn’t right about all of it. It feels incomplete, but what is missing?”
Nodding slowly, Vee let out a sigh and stood up, picking her purse from the floor and swinging it over her before walking over to you, standing beside you as she joined you in staring at the work you’ve created in the room.
“You want to know what I see in this room? A young, talented woman who has spent the last fifteen years making something of herself,” She began, her voice quiet, like a grandmother’s gentle tone. “A woman who went from nothing to having a large home, a gallery space, yet at the same time, a woman who doesn’t feel complete because she is still living in past regret.”
You glanced away from her at the last part of her speech. It wasn’t that you were hiding your tears from her, but she was right, and you were a fool to still be living in the past.
When she continued, your head faltered back to its original position, looking straight ahead. This was supposed to be your day, yours, and yet even after everything, Daniel was still the one on your mind...the one who still controlled your emotions and work.
“I don’t mean to be brash, dear, but if he wanted to make an appearance in your life, he would have done it by now. It’s time you put that past away and look towards the future,” Wrapping her arms around you, Vee pulled you close, extending her left hand out to motion around the room, “Think of all that you’ve done without him. Is he truly the one you wish to have by your side when you open your gallery? The one who didn’t want this for you in the first place?”
By this point you were crying, silently weeping in Vee’s arm as she gave you a hard reality check. It was true, all of it, why were you still hung up on him? For all you knew he had moved on himself - living with a pretty wife and a couple kids with a backyard and porch. You made it this far without him, and damn did you do a good job, so why were you still holding out on the chance that he would show up? Were you still that much in love with him?
“Sweet girl, it’s time to move on from him. He’s caused you enough pain. Look at how much you’ve done, truly, look around,” You opened your eyes and looked around the room, smiling weakly at all your work, “Never have I worked with someone as talented as you. The past five years have been a pleasure and I just want you to be proud of what you’ve done.”
“I am,” You whispered, looking at Vee now. You knew there were tears running down your cheeks as you could feel them, dripping from your jaw and onto your shirt. You sniffled and wiped your cheeks dry before letting out a sigh, “You’re right. I need to stop letting him ruin my day. This gallery, it’s beautiful! I should go and tell the curator he’s done an excellent job. I’m sure he thinks by now I’m either stuck up or a bitch...probably both!”
You laughed with Vee, leaning in as she kissed your temple before patting your back once, “I don’t think you should worry too much about that. I’m sure he’s probably dealt with worse drama queens,” She began to lead you out of the gallery, her arm still wrapped around you, “Come on, how about we go get a pastry and head home, yes?”
Nodding, you kept your own arm wrapped around her, following her out of the museum and to your lift that you had taken that day. The city was beautiful, but you were ready to retire back to the countryside where your home was.

He had made it into work exactly four minutes late, and his boss was at the door waiting for him with a scowl on her face. She was a mean bitch, Teresa, his boss - thin and blonde, always a stern look on her face like she ate something bad. She was his height, which only made arguments worse. Teresa liked to find your weakness and make that her target.
Daniel was rather confident, not taking much heat and just letting it roll off his back, but he was shorter, average, but still short. Standing at only five feet nine inches, Daniel knew quite a few women who were his height, if not taller. So when it came to him and Teresa yelling in the kitchen at the restaurant, she always seemed to find a way to stand herself up to seem taller than he was, making her both look and feel like the alpha.
Tucking the fallen pieces behind his ears, Daniel sighed and went to grab an apron that was hanging up beside the time clock where Teresa was standing.
“Sorry, traffic was busy.” He stated, going to punch in his work number. Before he could, Teresa stepped to the side in front of it, hands on her hips as she blocked him from clocking in. He took a quick step back before running into her, eyes furrowed together. “Um, is there something-”
“You’re late,” She pointed out, as if he didn’t already know. She moved her hands from her hips and to cross over her chest, her breasts pressing together causing Daniel to swallow, eyes looking ahead of him at the time clock. “If we weren’t so desperate for staff, you’d be out of here.”
It took everything for Daniel to not roll his eyes at the comment, shuffling in his spot as he became fidgety, wanting to get away from Teresa and go to work. This wasn’t the first time she had cornered him before - taunting him with her breasts and charm, making him sweat through his uniform.
No, of course he didn’t think she was hot - well, maybe, but she was a bitch. A stone cold bitch who wouldn’t be getting anywhere near his pants. That promise he would keep. He’s had his fair share of questionable hookups, but Teresa the Tyrant would not be one of them, no matter how hard she tried.
“Are you sure it's we and not you?” He toyed, his eyes flicking over towards her. He held back his smirk when her arms fell, mouth gaping before she glared and moved out of the way.
“Get to work,” She ordered, moving out of the way and into the office that was beside the timeclock, in the back of the kitchen. “And I’m docking this!”
“And I’m docking this!” Daniel mimicked, making a face as he mumbled to himself, punching into work and grabbing an apron, wrapping it around him before heading through the kitchen and to the main seating area to start waiting on his section.
The two other waitresses, Kali and Lana, were already working, moving tables around for what looked to be a big party coming in. The restaurant Daniel worked at was rather nice, more formal than most around town, so most people came to the restaurant if they were looking for something special. The host, Will, at the front sighing in relief at the sight of Daniel walking in.
“Finally! Thank God you’re here!” Will began, handing Daniel his things frantically, “We got a huge party coming in. Teresa just sprung it on us when we opened,” Daniel’s eyebrows furrowed, stuffing the pens and orderbook in his pocket, trying to keep up with Will, “Whole party booked the restaurant. It’s just us four tonight. Party is almost reaching forty-”
“Forty? Forty people? And four waiters? What the hell was Teresa thinking?” Part of Daniel wished he had called in, but the four of them were a good team, he couldn’t bail on them. Tucking his hair behind his ears as it fell in his face, he sighed and shook his head, “What do I need to do before they get here?”
Will seemed to relax a bit when Daniel offered to help, wrapping the last bit of silverware before handing the basket to Daniel, “Set the tables. They’re sitting at four tables, ten each. We each get a table and their food is being cooked now so hopefully everything goes smoothly.”
Nodding, Daniel took the silverware, shifting the basket to sit on his hip before moving to the tables, “Yeah, hopefully.”
It didn’t take long to get ready, most of the work already being done before Daniel had clocked in. After the tables were set up and the four of them did some last minute cleaning, the guests soon began to come in, sitting in their assigned spots - the restaurant growing loud quickly.
As the oldest waiter, and the one with the most experience, Daniel didn’t stress too much about his table, focusing on Kali and Will who were the youngest of them, only in high school. He noticed Kali was especially having a hard time balancing all the food on the tray, wobbling as she went to sit it down to begin passing them out. He knew this night couldn’t get any worse, but Hell, Teresa really did throw them a curveball.
When Daniel was refilling glasses, he couldn’t help but grow curious, what was this all about? What were so many fancy rich pricks doing here?
“If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the occasion?” Daniel asked, doing his best to sound charming rather than nosey. He smiled down at the group at the end of the table he was at, watching as they paused from their conversations to turn to Daniel.
The one man, who turned his nose at the sight of Daniel, scoffed and adjusted his posture in his seat, “Oh you don’t know? Well, if you must know, we’re a group of art collectors,” He pulled out the flyer from his suit pocket and handed it to Daniel, who took it and began unfolding it as he continued, “There’s a new art gallery opening. We plan on going and potentially buying some of her pieces.”
Nodding, Daniel continued to listen until they began to ramble about rich people things that rich people talked about. Reading over the flyer, he recognized the art museum. It was a rather posh one, one that had famous art pieces that people would travel from all over to see. This artist must have been a rather big deal to be having a pop-up in the art museum.
It was the style of art he recognized first. He had seen it before. Where he couldn’t put his finger on, but he knew he had seen the art before. Reading over the name didn’t help either - Cassie Kane?
“Cassie Kane? Like Citizen Kane? What is that, some sort of pen name?” He couldn’t help but laugh at the name, finding it to be ridiculous. He was a writer - well, aspiring writer. He always found pen names to be rather odd, not something he was ever a fan of.
The table laughed at his joke, but Daniel knew that it wasn’t what he said that was funny, but him in general. Rich people always liked to laugh at the waiters, finding whatever came out of their mouth to be funny - as if they were their dancing monkeys.
“You’ve seriously never heard of her? Come now, she’s one of the most aspiring artists right now! It’s not everyday you see someone so young and talented open up a gallery of their own work, let alone in such a famous museum!” This time it was the woman beside the man who spoke, baffled at Daniel’s lack of knowledge in the so-called ‘Cassie Kane’.
“Forgive me, I’m a writer, not much of an artist.” He explained, pulling his lips into a thin smile. His patience was growing weak with these upper-class snobs and his feet were sore. All he wanted to do was go home, smoke a few cigarettes, have some drinks, and pass out on his couch.
“Well, nobody knows much about her. Like I said, she’s young. From what I hear though, she lives in a manor that was passed down to her by a great-aunt or something. I believe she took care of her before her death and her aunt gave her the house,” Another woman said, sipping her champagne before continuing, “A single woman, all alone in that big house. No wonder she has all those paintings, poor girl probably has nothing better to do.”
They erupted into laughs at the woman’s comment, the woman’s own laugh sounding far too similar to a donkey for Daniel to keep his composure, sipping their drinks and continuing on with other conversations.
Before Daniel could finally escape though, giving up all interests on even trying to talk with his table - the original man quickly reached out to Daniel as he turned to leave, pulling at his apron to gain his attention.
“You asked her name, yes well, she’s actually from here. That’s why we’ve stopped by. We wanted to get a look around her hometown before travelling to see what inspired her pieces. Here! I have a photo actually.” The man dug his photo out of his pocket and unlocked it, searching on Google for the artist before pulling up a picture, handing his phone to Daniel who took it, holding it in front of him.
“She’s the one on the far left,” He explained, “In the red.”
Scanning through the line of people, Daniel nearly dropped the man’s phone when he finally reached the artist. He knew he had seen the art from somewhere, and who left town to become an artist? He should have known - it was the only person who he could have thought of. You, you were Cassie Kane.
“You must have known her? She’s about your age! Did you go to school with her?”
The questions became far too much for Daniel, who all but cowered back, closing his eyes for a moment before opening them, “Um, no, sorry, I don’t,” He lied, clearing his throat, “Must have been in different classes than me.”
“Well she’s opening up the invitations to everyone in town. Free admission if you show that you live in town. Perhaps you should go - check the gallery out for yourself and broaden your horizons a bit. Whole town is rather dense from what I’ve seen. No wonder she’s letting you all come for free.”
And after three painfully long hours of listening to the rich snobs joke and whine and bicker, Daniel finally had enough. With a smile, Daniel let out a mocking laugh, pathetically sounding like a snob before his face fell, his table - and the others as well, falling to silence.
“If I wanted to broaden my horizons, I’d go to the zoo, at least there I can enjoy what I’m looking like,” He turned to the woman who had originally spoken up after the man - who’s laugh sounded far too much like a donkey, smiling wickedly down at her, “That reminds me, I heard they’re opening a petting zoo in town - maybe you can go and say hi to the rest of your cousins for me. What exactly do donkeys eat by the way? I’m curious to know.”
He let out a whine line a donkey, mocking the woman before leaning over the table and reaching for the champagne bottle in the ice bucket, pulling the cork off with his teeth and spitting it back out down the table. At this point the whole room was silent, watching as Daniel finally cracked.
When he noticed everyone was staring, after drinking a healthy amount from the bottle, he let out a sigh and let the champagne run down his beard and onto the front of his shirt, hiccuping.
And without another word he made his way lazily from the dining room and through the kitchen, sipping on the bottle until he made it to the back of the kitchen, pushing open Teresa’s door and tossing his apron at things at her, watching as they bounced off her and onto the floor.
“What the he-”
“I quit,” Daniel said, cutting her off. When she looked at him confused, and of course pissed like always, he could only smile and brave it, “I quit. Don’t bother docking me because I’m not coming back. Better yet, don’t even bother paying me today,” He looked down at the champagne bottle and waved it at her, “Consider this my tip.”
And before she could get another word out, he turned and headed out of her office, smirking to himself as he listened to her scream for him to get back as he left the restaurant, heading through the filled parking lot, and back to his apartment.

After dinner that night, alone in your study like most, you attempted to work on your laptop, going through emails in hopes of maybe finding something that was worth your wild. To your avail, however, nothing jumped out at you.
It was all the same - the coupons from the candle store you liked, the newspaper from your hometown you still followed, and the countless number of spam emails that seemed to always flood your inbox.
Slamming your laptop shut, you let out a huff and fell back into your seat, looking around your office. Your hands found your face and you ran them up and down, groaning before letting your body go slack, arms draped over the arm rests as you twisted side to side in your chair.
For such a busy woman, life often felt lonely to you. Living in your great-aunt’s old manor didn’t help either. The ghosts of those who lived before you seemed to be the only friends you had.
That, and the animals you had out back.
Pushing yourself up from your chair, you made your way out of the office and down the hall, going down the grand staircase. Your slippers scuffed across the floor as you made your way through the hall and into the breakfast nook, opening the door that led outside into the backyard. You had quite a few animals - the acres in your backyard reserved strictly for the farm animals that your great-aunt had before she passed.
Vee suggested that you send them off to someone else, seeing as though you were a busy woman who didn’t need the extra stress of animals. But you couldn’t do that to them, this was their home, more of their home than your own. You made it work, getting up early to feed them and take care of them before work that day and then spending evenings, like tonight, with them.
Opening the gate that secured the perimeter for them, so they wouldn’t wander outside of their area and onto the road to get hit, making your way into the fenced area. Most of the animals were already tucked away for bed, the occasional moo from one of the cows echoing across the hills. You didn’t mind though, sometimes coming in was more for you than it was for them. It helped get your mind off things.
Sitting on the stool you kept out for milking the cows, you rested your elbows on your knees, your chin on your hands. You knew it was rather ridiculous to be sulking so much - being such a successful aspiring artist with a manor and so much that many didn’t - but what nobody seemed to realize was how lonely you were. God, did you know it - you reminded yourself everyday.
But it wasn’t that you were appreciative of all that you had, no, you were more than thankful - but everyone had their one wish in life, and yours - still to this day even after everything, was that by some miracle Daniel would come back, that he would show up at your door on his hands and knees to beg for your forgiveness.
Vee reminded you daily that your dream wasn’t good for you.
“If he loved you as much as you like to say he did...why isn’t he here now? Why has he been gone for the last decade and a half? That doesn’t seem like the man who deserves you, let alone crying over.”
She was right though - he wasn’t worth your time of day.
Letting out a sigh, you wiped away the stray tears before the ‘baah’ from one of the goats made you jump, turning back to see one of the babies prancing your way, a smile growing on your face. It was late, and the mischievous goat should have been sleeping.
“And what are you doing up?” You scolded playfully, much like a mother would to their own child. You watched the baby goat sprint at you the last few feet, butting it’s head into your leg before pawing at the ground to get your attention, wanting to be lifted.
“Oh come here,” Bending down, you lifted up the baby goat and held them in your arms, watching as they got comfortable before tucking their head in the crook of your arm. “Which one are you, hmm?”
Twisting the collar your way, you looked at the name tag and smiled.
“Marlene, hello there sweet girl. What are you still doing awake? I believe it’s past your bedtime.” You heard the muffled ‘baah’ from under your arm and stroked her back, keeping her held in your arms while you enjoyed the moment.
Rocking her gently, you listened as she soon lulled into a sleep, your own head bobbing slightly as you grew tired yourself. Leaning back against the fence pole, you let out a yawn, adjusting so the wood wasn’t digging directly into your spine before your petting slowed.
“Just a minute...I’ll put you up in just a minute.” You whispered, your head falling back as you entered your sudden slumber.
Although your minute became minutes, then hours, until you woke to the erupting sounds of all the animals around you, growing impatient for breakfast. Groaning, you sat up, your back painfully stiff as you cracked your eyes open, looking around to see the animals eyeing you, running rampant as they waited for their food.
“Shit!” You hissed, standing up, stumbling as you lost balance before rushing around to get everyone fed for the day. God, did you really fall asleep out here? How tired were you? You must have been rather tired, seeing as though you slept on a stool propped against the fence post all night.
Thankfully though it didn’t take long, doing your regular morning chores until you were finally able to head back inside, or rather trudging back inside. Your body was painfully sore and while you slept a while, it was a rather shit sleep.
When you made it through the breakfast nook, into the hallway to go back into your room, you stopped at the sight of Vee who was coming down the stairs, looking for you.
“There you are! I looked everywhere for you, did you forget that we were supposed to meet with some of the other museum directors tod-” She paused, nose turning and she sniffled the air, “What is that smell?”
“Me, probably,” You stated, watching as Vee looked at you confused, before you motioned behind you, “I fell asleep out back last night...just woke up actually. I’m sorry, I’ll go get ready an-”
But before you could leave and go get ready for the day, Vee held out her hand, stopping you before pulling out her phone, texting with one hand while you waited patiently, swaying slightly as you still woke up. When you heard the noise from her phone signaling she had sent a text to someone, she lowered her hand and smiled.
“Vee, you didn’t have to do that. I’m sorry I-”
“Please, look at you. Better yet, smell yourself. You reek! Go take a shower and come back down. I’m craving a mimosa. You and I will get breakfast together, think you need a break from all the museum directors breathing down your neck.”
You could only smile, nodding towards Vee before going in for a hug, stopping suddenly when she took a step back. “After your shower. I’m not letting you stink me up too.”
Letting out a laugh, you shook your head and made your way up the stairs, throwing your clothes off and into your laundry basket before heading into your bathroom to take a quick shower for the day.

As much as yesterday was odd for Daniel, the new day had been even more odd. He wasn’t expecting much - maybe a phone call from his boss about his outburst yesterday - in fact, Daniel might have rather had that, then what he had been going through all morning.
“So let me get this straight...you want me to take your grandfather to the art gallery? I don’t see why you can’t just do it, Will.” Daniel explained, standing near his t.v. stand while Will, the kid from the restaurant, sat on his couch beside his grandfather, and Kali, the other girl from the restaurant, sat on his other side.
It would take a bigger idiot than Daniel to believe the mask he was wearing. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to give the man a ride and earn a few extra bucks, given how he was now out of a job, he just wasn’t ready to face you again.
“I got school. Remember? I’m only in high school still. Kali can’t cause she doesn’t have her license yet,” Will explained, shrugging his shoulders before motioning to his grandfather, who looked to be falling asleep, “Besides...he wants to go see an old student - that old student just so happens to be the girl you’re still obviously in love with-”
“Hey now, Will, I appreciate it...but I’m not still in love with her. That’s in the past, and I’ve moved on.” But had he? Had he really moved on?
Frowning, Will nodded and looked down, Kali glancing towards him before standing up, making her way to Daniel. Grabbing onto his arm, Kali smiled weakly at Daniel.
“Maybe if you don’t wanna go and see her, just go to appreciate the art? Who knows, maybe there will be a story there worth writing about? This could be your big break!” Kali suggested, trying to convince Daniel in any way she could to go. “Besides...you’re out of a job now, what exactly are you doing that’s keeping you from going?”
Opening his mouth, Daniel went to say something before realizing what the kids were doing - they were trying to help him out, cause after all...teenagers seemed to know more than he did.
Kali was right, even if he went and didn’t run into you, there could be a potential story there, something he could write about. That, and Daniel did always get along well with his high school art teacher, so maybe this wouldn’t be all that bad? It’d be good for him to get out of town.
Sighing, Daniel looked at Kali one last time before back at Will, then his grandfather who was now snoring on his couch, “Fine...I’ll take him. But if you guys are trying to set something up, you’re wasting your time. That’s in the past-”
He was surprised to feel the sets of arms wrap around him in a hug. Laughing lightly, Daniel awkwardly patted Kali and Will’s back. “Guys...come on now, you offer a bum cash and it’s going to take a lot for him to refuse.”
Feeling Kali pinch his side, Daniel jumped back, yelping before watching the two laugh now, Will’s grandfather now waking up and looking around, as if he were trying to figure out where he was at. Okay, so maybe taking care of him wouldn’t be all that fun, but it couldn’t be all that bad? Right?
“So, when do we leave?” Daniel asked, watching Will and Kali help his grandfather up before making their way to the door.
“Tomorrow morning. If you leave at six, you’ll get there by four - give or take traffic - we already have your room booked so you just have to check in once you get there.” Will explained, opening the front door to begin heading down the steps and outside.
Following the trio, Daniel helped in any way he could with getting the old man down the steps, making sure he didn’t slip and fall. When they finally got outside and loaded him into the passenger seat of the car, Daniel took a step back, eyes furrowed.
“Wait...six in the morning? Jesus...I haven’t got up that early since-”
“Since the Christmas banquet breakfast that you were late for, yes, we know,” Kali stated, shutting the passenger door before turning to look back up at Daniel, “Just...wake up on time. Will and I will be over here just about that time on our way to school. So just be ready, okay?”
Nodding, Daniel let out a huff and pushed his hair back, “Yeah, yeah, I can do that...you know I’m the adult here, right? You guys really like to boss me around, huh?” When he felt Kali hug him again, he could only soften, hugging her back. “I’ll be up, just - don’t expect a whole lot out of me on this. I’m getting him there and back, that’s it.”
“Totally, and if you so happen to fall back in love with the girl you can’t seem to get over, then that’s all the better.” Will noted, helping Kali in the backseat before getting in the car himself.
Shaking his head, Daniel made his way to the left side of the car, looking at Will and Kali, “Hey, how did you guys even find out about her? I mean...I’ve never brought her up before.”
“Well after yesterday’s incident, Kali and I looked her up and found some old photos of you guys from high school. I knew you went to our school so I asked my grandfather about you guys and, well, he told us the rest. It was Kali who suggested you go.” Will explained, motioning to the backseat towards Kali who was grinning.
Kali was a sweet girl, who was maybe a little too obsessed with love stories - but Daniel couldn’t deny their obvious findings. Especially after yesterday, they were right to assume some pushed down feelings of his.
Daniel could only hope that if he got the courage, he’d be able to tell you how he felt, how sorry he was after all these years. But after all these years, would you even want to hear what he had to say?

When Harry came to the guest room this morning and couldn’t find Ezi, he had hoped that something had happened overnight, and she’d magically returned to where she’d come from, and he, at last, could have his old life back. But no. He was immensely disappointed to find her sitting cross-legged on the edge of his pool, just staring blankly at the water like she was in a sad music video. What did he expect? It wasn’t like she could grow some wings to fly all the way home.
“Good morning!”
Ezi flinched at the sound of his voice. She pulled her feet out of the water and frantically stood up as Harry approached.
He held out his hand to ask her to stay. “It’s okay. You can use the pool. I rarely go swimming anyway.”
Ezi’s brows furrowed slightly as she tucked a strand behind her ear and stared anxiously at the blue water. “How can you swim in this pond? It smells funny.”
“It’s not a pond. It’s a swimming pool. There’s chemicals in it; that’s why it smells like that.”
Ezi cocked her head, seemingly confused. “Why you gotta make your own pond and put chemicals in it? Why do humans have to make their own versions of everything that’s already available in nature?”
“It’s cleaner and safer to swim in pools,” Harry pointed out.
Ezi couldn’t look more offended by his remark. “The ocean was clean before you trashed it with your chemicals.”
“I didn’t trash the ocean,” Harry corrected, pointing to his chest. “How many times do I have to tell you that I’m not responsible for environmental pollution?”
Ezi folded her arms and glared at him. “Why are you afraid of the ocean?”
“You’re literally a killing machine.”
“You people make machines that shoot fire and blow up each other’s ships, and yet we’re the killing machines.”
“Well, the ocean is scary anyway. It’s deep and dark.”
“It’s literally water,” argued Ezi. “Water is the driving force of all nature, and you’re afraid of it.”
“Forget it.” Harry exhaled as he tossed his hands in the air. “I can never win an argument with you.”
“Good,” Ezi said with a slight shrug.
“Anyway.” Harry rolled his eyes. “Come inside for breakfast. I have something to discuss with you while you eat.”
“Your maid brought you something this morning,” Ezi said when Harry was about to walk away.
Slowly, he turned back to face her with his eyebrows raised. “Who?”
“Your maid,” she said with a straight face. “The girl with green hair. I think she brought you some clothes and put them in the room next to mine.”
“That’s Amy, my assistant!” cried Harry as he gripped his own hair. “You two didn’t have a conversation, right? Please tell me you didn’t call her a maid to her face!”
Ezi looked rather amused when she saw how distressed Harry was. How could she be smiling? He wouldn’t be the only one who’d be in trouble if her identity was revealed. Fuck that. What if the government found out that he was keeping her here and locked him up, too? Was it a crime to keep a mythical creature in your house? Could he be executed for that?
“No,” Ezi calmly said while Harry could feel the blood draining from his face. “She just brought you some clothes and left. Though I could barely see her face, she didn’t seem very friendly.”
Harry pressed a palm to his chest, feeling his heart thundering as he let out a sigh of half-formed relief. Once he’d regained his composure, he told Ezi, “Amy is friendly to everyone. Maybe it’s just you.”
Ezi didn’t look at all bothered by that. She shrugged. “I’m not here to make friends. I don’t care if Amy likes me.”
Harry found it funny that one moment she could look and talk like a human girl with human feelings, and the next she acted as cold as the ocean she’d come from. But she was right. They weren’t friends, and there was no reason for them to be more than just civilised to one another.
“You sure you didn’t talk to Amy?”
“Yes, I’m sure.”
“Good,” Harry nodded. “Come inside. The food’s getting cold.”
It seemed like Ezi got hungry very quickly. She finished the hard scrambled eggs Harry had made for her and even asked him for more. Harry didn’t mind feeding her. It was better to keep her full. After all, she had shown him her predator side, and he’d prefer to never see it again.
“So what’s something you want to tell me?” she asked with her mouth full while stuffing it more with another big bite.
Chilli was sitting at Ezi’s feet, staring up at her as a way of asking for a taste, but Ezi just ignored the cat and continued to enjoy her breakfast.
Harry knitted his hands on the table and straightened his back as he began, “Well, I actually wanted to ask you for a favour.”
Ezi stopped chewing immediately. She swallowed hard, her face contorted. “I’m not doing you a favour.”
“You don’t even know what it is.”
“But I already know that I don’t want to do it.”
“Of course you want to do it.”
“No, I don’t!”
Harry sucked in a breath and held up a finger to stop her from interrupting him again. “I promise you’ll like this. Just hear me out.”
Ezi folded her arms in front of her chest and pouted like an angry little girl as she sank into her chair.
Harry’s lips curled into a smile. “You like those Disney movies, right?”
Ezi nodded, and Harry watched in content as the line between her brows eased.
“Good. So what if I tell you that you can be a Disney princess for one night.”
“What do you mean?” Ezi frowned again as she sat up straight. “Are you messing with me?”
Harry shook his head. “No, I’m being dead serious. I’ll take you to a ball.”
“A ball?”
“Yeah. I’m invited to a royal ball that’s held in a real ballroom, like the one in Beauty and the Beast.”
He would’ve said Cinderella, but she hadn’t watched it yet. It would’ve been a better reference. Still, Ezi’s eyes lit up when she heard about the ball. “Like...in a castle?”
“Y-Yeah.” Harry worked up a bright smile as he nodded fast. “A castle.” To be fair, his mother’s manor was as huge as a castle. It was twice the size of his house, so that’d be more than enough to convince the naive siren.
“Do I get to wear a pretty dress?”
“Yeah. Who do you think the clothes Amy brought here are for?”
The realisation washed over Ezi’s face, and her mouth fell open in shock as she slammed her hands on the table, rattling the silverware and startling Chilli. “You’re not messing with me?”
“No.”
She bit her lip and arched an eyebrow. “What’s the favour then?”
“That’s the favour -- You going to the ball with me,” Harry said. “It’s tomorrow night.”
“What’s in it for you?”
“Nothing, to be honest,” Harry said with a weak shrug. “Maybe getting back in my mother’s good graces. She’s hosting the ball, and so many people are invited.”
“Is she the Queen?”
“No, but she thinks she is.”
“So she’s like my sister Koa.”
Harry chuckled at how serious Ezi looked when she said that. “Well, maybe not as bad as your sister. My mother loves me.”
Ezi pursed her lips as she focused on fidgeting with the fork in her hand. Harry leaned forward on the table. “So?” he asked. “Can you help me?”
Ezi blew out her cheeks as she locked eyes with him again. “Fine,” she said. “Not because I want to help you, though. I just want to go to a ball.”
“Good enough for me.” Harry smiled.
While Ezi continued eating, Harry gave her a few rules that she would have to follow when they arrived at his family’s event. He could not risk having her interact with anyone without his supervision. He’d nearly had a heart attack when he heard that she’d met his assistant when he wasn’t there. He was sure that Amy had only assumed Ezi was another girl Harry regularly hooked up with. Money didn’t really matter to him, so he usually spoiled his friends and the girls he fucked. However, he couldn’t risk having anyone find out that Ezi was actually living here.
When Ezi finished eating, Harry went upstairs to get the bath ready. He’d have to figure out a way to give Ezi a bath without having to touch her. How would she feel about hot water, though? His cat Chilli always left at least one or two scratches on his legs and his shirt whenever he tried to give her a bath. He could imagine Ezi doing the same.
“Hey.”
Harry whipped his head to the bathroom door and found Ezi standing there in his joggers and Mickey Mouse t-shirt that flowed down to her thighs. He must admit that she looked cute when she wasn’t frowning or roasting him. If only she’d lost her voice like Ariel did in the movie.
“Stop staring at me, human!”
Exactly his point.
Sighing, Harry got up from the edge of the bathtub. “We’ll let the water run,” he told her. “In the meantime, I’ll show you your new clothes.”
Ezi said nothing and followed him down the hall to his walk-in closet. It was actually a room with big windows, a shiny tiled floor, and white-cushioned sofas. Harry took a deep breath of the comforting perfumed air only to see Ezi covering her mouth and nose with her palm.
“It smells weird in here,” she complained.
“Just like living with my mum,” Harry whispered to himself. To her, he said, “Speaking of smells.”
Ezi looked horrified as Harry leaned in and started sniffing her.
“Why don’t you smell?” he asked, stepping back.
Her eyes went wide. “Am I supposed to?”
“Well, yeah.” He nodded. “You literally came from the ocean. No offence but...you’re supposed to smell fishy.”
“Do humans say no offence before they offend you?”
“Yeah, pretty much. Or maybe I’m just blunt because I’m British. Anyway,” Harry sucked in a breath, “it’s weird that you don’t smell. You don’t have a smell at all. When you first came on land, I could still smell a bit of the ocean on you, but now you don’t smell, and you haven’t showered.”
Ezi shrugged. “I don’t know. It’s not like I could ask my mother why her curse didn’t give me a smell.”
“True.” Harry sighed. “Anyway. That’s good. Don’t want no fishy-smelling girl walking around my house.”
“I will scoop out your eyeballs right now.”
“Just kidding.” Harry chuckled. “But please don’t do that.”
“I’ll try.” Ezi put her hands on her hips and swept her eyes around the room. “Why do you have so many clothes?”
“They make me look good. I’m a public figure, so I care about my appearance.”
“Maybe you should focus on fixing what’s inside you and not your appearance.”
“I like you better when you don’t talk,” Harry said, then brushed past her to grab the Chanel shopping bag Amy had left on the white marble counter. He pulled out a sparkling silver slip dress and held it up to show Ezi. “This is for you. It comes with a pair of high heels. I’ll definitely have to teach you to walk in them, but baby steps.”
Ezi took the dress with both hands and was being as careful as possible as if she was afraid she might rip it. Although she didn’t let it show, he could make out the excitement in the way her eyes twinkled. He’d made sure to ask for a dress that looked similar to the one Ariel had worn in The Little Mermaid when she’d come from the ocean.
“Before you try this on,” he said when Ezi lifted her bright blue eyes up to him. “Repeat what I told you earlier.”
Ezi clutched the dress to her chest and glanced up at the ceiling. A line appeared between her brows as she recited Harry’s words, “Do not talk to anyone there unless you ask me to. Never leave your side. If I have questions, ask you in private. Um...what else? Oh! Avoid your mother at all costs.”
Harry nodded. “My mother and Dawson.”
“Who’s Dawson?”
“You’ll know.” With a sigh, Harry thrust his hands into his pockets. “Now, I’ll leave you here to change. I could only guess your measurements, so if it doesn’t fit, we can have it fixed as soon as possible.”
“Measurements?” Ezi looked down at her body, confused.
Harry cleared his throat and waved his hand at her. “Just hurry up and change. Let me know when you’re done.”
“Wait!”
“What?”
With a cute little pout, she asked, “Can you put it on me?”
Harry was shocked for a second when he heard that, but then he remembered that Ezi had never worn a dress before, let alone one with so many...strings.
“Here.” He took the dress from her and tried his best to demonstrate. “So this is the front. This is the back. This string goes over your right shoulder–No, wait, your left. Wait, is it? Hold on. Fuck.”
Ezi breathed out a laugh and covered her mouth with her hands, making Harry glare at her. “Fine,” he huffed. “I’ll help you put it on.”
“Good.”
Before Harry could even say a word, Ezi pulled his oversized t-shirt that she was wearing over her head, and Harry let out the most inhuman scream as he looked away and covered his eyes. She was naked underneath his shirt. Completely naked.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,” he chanted into his palm when he heard the sound of the shirt falling to the floor.
“What is it?” Ezi asked.
“Oh, God.” Harry shrugged her hand away as she tried to take his.
“Why are you being weird?” She giggled as if she wasn’t standing fully naked in front of him. “You’ve seen me without clothes, and I’ve seen you,” she said.
“Fuck. I know that.” He exhaled. “But…” Harry stopped and took a deep breath. With one hand over his eyes, he calmly told her, “You need lingerie.”
“Ooooh. I learned this word today from a movie,” Ezi said with confidence. “Laundry means–”
“No, not laundry.” Harry sighed. “Lingerie.”
“Huh?”
“Okay, you know what? Put the shirt back on. I’ll return with more clothes for you.”
“More clothes?” Ezi cried with frustration as Harry turned his back to her. He heard her put the shirt on, and she tapped him on the shoulder when she was done. “I hate being humans,” she complained, looking cross. “Clothes are so uncomfortable.”
“I know, right?” Harry chuckled and patted her on the head. He liked seeing her face scrunch up whenever he did that, because he knew that she couldn’t harm him. “Be a good siren and stay here. I’ll be right back.”
“And help me put on clothes?”
He sighed and turned away. “I will.”
“And launderey?”
The question stopped Harry at the door. He pinched his eyes shut and pressed a fist to his forehead. “Yes.” He let go of a defeated long breath. “That, too.”
.
.
.
Harry managed to find a brand new pair of underwear in his bedroom drawer. It was an embarrassing story, but he’d bought it as a gift for a girl he used to sleep with, then he found out she’d been lying to him about not having a boyfriend when she’d already been engaged. So now he just happened to have a set of new lingerie lying in his drawer.
“I don’t know if this would fit, but I’ll get you new ones tomorrow.” Harry froze in the doorway when he found his closet empty. “Chili, where’s the crazy girl?” he asked his black cat, who didn’t even bother to reply as she kept licking her little paw. Ugh, lucky for her, she was cute.
“Ezi! Where are you?!” Harry shouted as he padded down the hall.
“I’m here!” Ezi shouted back, her voice echoing from the bathroom.
It was only then that Harry remembered he’d left the water running, but when he got there, he found Ezi sitting in the bubble bath with a bright smile on her face; his joggers and Mickey Mouse t-shirt had been discarded on the floor.
He leaned a shoulder against the doorframe, arms crossed, smiling at her.
“I love this room!” she exclaimed, gathered bubbled in her palms and blew at them.
So, Harry was wrong. She liked warm baths.
“Water was spilling out, so I turned it off and gave myself a bath,” she told him.
“You know how?”
“I saw Ariel take a bath in the movie.”
Her response made him laugh. “Wow, you learn so much from Disney films.”
Ezi folded her arms on the edge of the tub as Harry sat down on it beside her. She glanced up at him, chin on her arm. It would be a lie to say Harry didn’t feel anything watching her covered in soap and naked in his bathtub. The steam made him sweat, dampening his shirt as it stuck to his skin. He wasn’t a sex addict or anything, but he’d been so stressed out lately and hadn’t been able to find a release with his unpaid babysitting job. It wouldn’t be a problem if Ezi’s human form wasn’t so attractive.
“Stop doing that,” Ezi’s voice pulled him back to reality.
He blinked at her. “Doing what?”
“You sometimes stare at me without saying anything.”
He pressed his lips into a smirk. “Aren’t you a clever girl? Just read my mind.”
“Can’t.” She shrugged while unconsciously spreading the bubbles across the edge of the tub. “Even if I could, I wouldn’t want to know what’s going on in that dirty little head of yours?”
The way she’d said it without the intention of making it flirty was so funny to Harry.
“Your head is dirty and little,” he teased.
“No. Yours.”
“Yours.”
“Yours.”
“Your head can literally fit between my palms,” said Harry as he cupped the sides of her heads to demonstrate. For the first time, Ezi burst out laughing and tried to shove him off. He didn’t let go of her, and they kept pushing back and forth until Harry lost his balance and fell headfirst into the tub.
The water splashed all over. When Harry realised what had happened, he found himself kneeling in the water between Ezi’s legs. Frantically, he pushed away, but the tub was so slippery that he landed back down on his butt. Laughter crackled out of Ezi as Harry managed to escape from the sticky situation and grabbed a towel to cover himself with. Most of the water had spilt outside the tub, revealing Ezi’s soapy breasts, which gave Harry an instant boner.
He grabbed another towel and held it up and open as he ordered. “Bathtime’s over. Get out.”
“You’re such an idiot,” Ezi said, still laughing as she stood up and let him wrap the towel around her body.
Harry frowned at her playful grin. “You’re the idiot,” he said, but his face was red. “Rinse yourself. I’ll wait.”
Then he waddled out of the bathroom, quietly cursing himself.
.
.
.
To not make the same mistake, Harry taught Ezi how to put on underwear by having her put it on over her clothes first, then letting her do it herself when he wasn’t there. She was a fast learner, so it didn’t take long until she’d learned how to put on clothes and tie her shoes. He could now imagine how hard it must be for single parents to raise a kid all by themselves. He was lucky that he didn’t have to work this week and could stay home to take care of Ezi. But starting from next week, he would have to go back to his busy celebrity life, and Ezi living with him would become a bigger problem than he’d expected. He could only hope that her mother would just take her back before the following Monday. It didn’t seem possible, though. He should never have brought her to London.
Anyway, first things first.
He’d have to get through his mother’s event without anyone suspecting a thing, and then he’d try to figure out what he should do next.
This was why he didn’t want kids. At least Ezi had common sense.
“Hey, there will be so many humans tonight at the ball. What if one of them triggers me? I can’t even threaten them?”
Forget what he’d just said.
“No, you’re not allowed to threaten anyone,” he told her from outside her room and blew out his cheeks as he checked his watch. “Hurry up. Our ride is almost here.”
The door was pulled open. Ezi emerged in her sparkling silver dress with her hair in a messy bun and subtle makeup but enough to accentuate her unique features. Harry didn’t know he was gawking until she gave him a playful smack on the cheek to bring him back to Earth. He blinked and caught her big round eyes. The silvery glitter on her eyelids made the blue in her eyes stand out even more. A sudden chill rushed down his spine as he squared his shoulders and fixed his black tie. “Y-You did your hair and makeup?”
Ezi nodded enthusiastically. “The girl in the magic board taught me!”
“You were watching those makeup tutorials?”
Harry swore he had never seen her so happy. She smiled so big that her eyes crinkled at the corners. “Thank you for that board, by the way.”
“It’s an iPad. But you’re welcome.”
Yes, he’d got her an iPad so she could watch YouTube videos and play dumb games and not be all up in his business. He was a single dad now. First to Chilli. Now to Ezi.
“An iPad,” Ezi mumbled to herself. He thought it was cute how her eyebrows would furrow every time she learned a new word and tried to memorise it.
Realising that he was about to simp, Harry shook off those pleasant thoughts about the fish girl and put on a nonchalant expression as he looked down at her white ballerina flats. He’d got her a nice pair of high heels to wear with this dress, but she’d kept falling and broken a vase in the living room, so he’d given up and got her these flats instead. Well, as long as she was comfortable and still looked cute and appropriate.
“Ready?” he asked her.
She took a deep breath; determination lit up her eyes. “Ready.”
“Hold on.” He held her shoulder, took a nice look at her, then let down two strands from her bun, so they nicely framed her face. “Better.” He smiled and pinched her cheek. “You look like someone I would date.”
As expected, Ezi responded to his compliment with a frown and smacked his hand away. “Touch my face again, and I’ll make sure you won’t be able to touch anything again.” Then she shoved past him and hurried down the stairs.
.
.
.
Ezili felt ashamed.
She had been looking forward to the ball tonight. She’d been so excited that she’d stayed up to watch those...what did Harry call them again? Oh, makeup tutorials. Just to look like those human girls with sparkling eyelids. The mermaids back home would be so impressed, but her mother certainly wouldn’t. She didn’t even want to imagine her mother’s reaction to her look tonight.
Harry had pointed out that human Ezili didn’t have a smell. In an animal kingdom, the signature smell set those animals apart from the other kinds and acted as proof that they were a part of a community, that they belonged. Human Ezili not having a smell was a reminder from her mother that she was not a siren right now, but she was not human either, and so she should finish her mission as soon as possible to return to the sea and be with her kind.
Ezili could not be distracted from her mission anymore. Harry had invited her to the ball, which meant there was no competition for her at this point. She was already making progress being the only female in his radar. Tonight, she hoped the romantic atmosphere of the ball would make him fall in love with her.
With her arm around his, they ascended the red-carpeted stairs of the castle leading to the ballroom. Ezili was amazed by the guests in fancy attires and expensive decorations sparkling silver and gold. The ballroom was impressive, with crystal chandeliers spiralling down from the arching sky-blue ceiling, illuminating the glimmering walls and a floor so polished it looked like a frozen winter lake.
Harry said their names to a servant at the door, and he bowed to Harry and Ezili as if they were royalty. Ezili didn’t show it, but she enjoyed being treated like the princess she knew she was.
“Finally, someone showing respect to me,” she mumbled as they followed the other guests inside.
Harry laughed at her remark. “I respect you.”
“You don’t even respect yourself,” she said, glaring at him.
“Can you just not insult me tonight? You’re pretending to be my date.”
“What’s a date?”
“Like...lovers,” Harry said, flicking his eyes around like the prey trying to spot a predator.
She thought she should calm him down, so she squeezed his forearm and said, “Do you wanna dance?”
Harry shook his head. “No, not the time.”
Confused, Ezili’s eyes followed Harry’s worried gaze to the lady in a seaweed coloured dress that fanned out at her feet. She was beautiful, with features resembling Harry's. That must be Harry’s mother -- the host of the ball.
“Remember what I told you,” Harry said, squeezing Ezili’s cold hands. “Do not say a word to my--Mother!”
“Oh, my darling son, you came!”
Harry let go of Ezili to hug his mother. The woman pulled away and turned to Ezili with the same dimpled smile as her son’s. “Ahh, this must be Ezili,” she said, and Ezili shook her hands like how humans did in movies.
“Yes.” Harry cleared his throat as he laced his fingers with Ezili’s. “This is my date -- Ezili Hans.”
His mother smiled at him. “I was afraid you were gonna bring Niall with a wig.”
“Didn’t work the last time,” Harry said. “Never do it again.”
Harry’s mother laughed before turning back to Ezili. “It’s so nice to meet you. You may call me Mrs Styles, or Annalise. What do you think about this event?”
Ezili flicked her helpless gaze to Harry, who quickly spoke on her behalf, “She thinks it’s great. Very s-shiny.” Seeing Annalise’s smile vanished, Harry added, “Sore throat. The doctor says she has to stay silent for a week. Also, do you mind if I show her around and introduce her to the other guests?”
“Wait, but we haven’t--”
“Love you, Mum.”
Harry pecked his mother on the cheek, grabbed Ezili’s hand and pulled her with him. They finally made it outside to the garden’s fountain, where the guests were chatting in groups and sipping on wine. Harry released Ezili’s hand and exhaled through his mouth. “That was scary.”
“That was awful!” She hit him on the arm. “You almost blew our covers.”
“I know. I’m always anxious around my mum,” he said, looking distressed. “When I was little, she could always tell when I was lying.”
“Maybe you’re not a good liar.”
“Not as good as you,” he chuckled, putting his hands on his hips. “You know what? Changing plans. You’re allowed to talk, but just say simple things like ‘hello’, ‘how are you?’, ‘it’s wonderful’, bla bla.”
Ezili nodded. “Got it.”
Harry opened his mouth to say something else but suddenly froze; his eyes went wide. “Shit, that’s Aunt Beatrice.” Ezili looked over her shoulder to see a chubby late laughing with a group of people and being the loudest. “Super annoying,” Harry said. “Everyone in my family hates her.” He turned to Ezili and patted her on the shoulder. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.”
“Let me come with you.”
“Not when I’m talking to Satan. I mean, Aunt Beatrice. Just stay here and don’t talk to anyone.”
“But--”
Harry already left.
Ezili muttered curses at him under her breath. She had no choice but to sit by the fountain and wait for him to return. She saw him approaching the woman he hated with just a happy attitude as he’d had when talking to his mother. Fake. Humans were all pretentious and fake. They disgusted her. All these people.
“Hey, may I sit here?”
Ezili’s heart nearly jumped out of her chest when she heard the voice. She looked up and went stiff when she locked eyes with a tall handsome man. The black frame of glasses sat nicely on his high nose. His high cheekbones raised as he offered a polite smile. “Sorry. Am I bothering you?”
Ezili was thinking of what to say to him when she saw what was in his hand.
“An iPad!” she exclaimed. “I got one! Harry gave me one yesterday!”
The man looked at the iPad in his hand and chuckled. “Oh yeah, I brought it with me to read because I don’t really like these events.”
Ezili nodded fast. “I don’t, either. I’m so glad I’m not the only one.”
The man smiled again; his dark eyes twinkled with the fairy lights above their heads. “May I sit with you.”
“Sure!” Ezili hurriedly scooted over for the man to sit. Forget Harry. He’d told her never to leave his side then left her here all on her own, so who cared if she talked to one stranger? At least this one didn’t want to be here, either.
“What do you read on your iPad?” she asked him.
“I’d say books to impress you, but I’m actually reading a manga,” he said and chuckled. “Attack on Titan. Have you heard of it?”
Ezili shook her head. “Do they have something like this for The Little Mermaid?”
“I don’t know. But I’m sure they have a manga for everything these days, so you might find one about mermaids, too,” the man said and put the iPad down on his lap. “What’s your name?”
“Ezili...Hans. Ezili Hans,” said Ezili as she offered her hand.
The man shook it with another warm smile. “I’m Dawson Styles.”
It took Ezili a second to recognise that name. “Harry told me not to talk to you,” she mumbled, frowning.
However, Dawson didn’t look bothered by it. “Oh, right, you came here with Harry,” he said. “He gave you an iPad, right?”
“Yeah. He’s my...date.”
“So why are you here all by yourself?”
Ezili crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. “He needed to talk to that loud lady over there. He said she was evil.”
Dawson leaned forward to look past her, and when he spotted Harry with his aunt, his mouth curled slightly. “Yup, that lady is scary. We’re all scared of her.”
“You know her?”
“Yeah, she’s my mum.”
Ezili flinched, her eyes shot open. “Oh...sorry.”
Dawson just laughed. “Well, Harry wasn’t wrong. My mother could be scary sometimes.”
“All mothers are,” muttered Ezili, but she wasn’t sure if Dawson had heard her.
“You’re from the States?” he asked.
She blinked. “What?”
“Your accent.”
“Oh. Y-Yeah.”
“How long have you been in London?”
“Just three days.”
“How do you like it?”
“It’s...grey.”
The answer made Dawson cackle. “Yeah, it is.” He lowered his head and adjusted his glasses. “Bet it’s way more sunnier where you’re from.”
Ezili lifted her shoulders. “I don’t like the sun that much either, so it’s all good.”
Dawson nodded. They sat in silence for two seconds, then he said, “You look beautiful, by the way.”
“Thank you.” She smiled, not knowing what else to respond.
“How did you know Harry?”
Ezili was about to answer when she realised that Harry hadn’t taught her what to answer for this question. He’d probably assumed that they would be together all night, so he wouldn’t have to prepare her to lie about such basic information. Helplessly, she looked back to find Harry, but he wasn’t there anymore. Both he and Dawson’s mother had disappeared.
Ezili jumped to her feet. “Sorry, I have to go. It was nice talking to you, Dawson.” Without paying him a second look, she ran off to look for Harry.
He couldn’t have abandoned her, right? At least not here at his family’s ball. But how could she be so sure? She’d witnessed him being courteous to his enemy. That man could not be trusted.
Why were there so many people?
Where was she?
Ezili was too busy cursing Harry in her head that she hadn’t paid attention to where she was going. Now she found herself standing in an empty hall. She could hear the muffled sound of the ballroom behind her, so she intended to return to it.
“Hey, baby,” said a blond-haired man she ran into at a turn. She tried to sidestep him, but he was in her way. She blocked her nose with a finger and took a step back to keep a distance from him. He smelled funny. Why were his eyes red?
“H-Have you seen Harry?” she asked the man with the buzzcut. “Tall. Curly hair. Walks and talks slowly. Acts like he’s better than you when he’s not.”
“Harry?” The man snorted, his eyelids fluttered as if he might pass out any moment. He put a hand on the wall to keep his balance. “Damn, that motherfucker always lands the hotties.”
Ezili guessed that this man was not in his right mind to tell her where Harry was, so she pushed him aside to go. Suddenly, he caught her by the wrist and yanked her into him. “Hey, where are you going, baby?”
“Let me go!” she screamed and tried to shove him off. It seemed like all of her strength had disappeared with her tail. She felt helpless against this man. He managed to take both her wrists and pinned them above her head and her against the wall.
“Leave Harry,” he whispered into her ear, his breath hot and foul-smelling. She felt like she might throw up. “He’s trash anyway. The rat of the family. Can’t believe he’s getting all this when his mother dies.”
Ezili was trapped between the man’s stinky body and the wall. She knew she’d promised Harry not to attack anyone tonight, but she needed to fight for herself. Without hesitation, her teeth went straight for the man’s neck. He screamed and jumped back, losing his balance and dropping to the floor. Ezili could taste blood on her tongue as she licked her lip and gazed down at the terrified man. The bite mark on his neck was bleeding, staining the white collar of his suit.
“You bitch!”
“Ezi!”
Ezili whipped her head and found Harry, so she ran to him as the evil man clumsily got to his feet.
“What happened?” he asked her, his face pallid with fright.
“This bitch bit me!” the man shouted, pointing the finger at Ezili.
Harry turned back to her with rage in his eyes. “You bit my cousin?! I told you not to hurt anyone! What’s wrong with you?!”
“I didn’t have a choice,” she yelled back, angry that he’d believed the words of this bastard. “He was touching me! I don’t like being touched!”
The realisation flashed across Harry’s face. He put his hands on her shoulders; his eyebrows sloped as he swept his eyes from her head to toes. “Where did he touch you?”
“I didn’t do anything to your whore.”
Before Ezili could even react to those words, Harry went straight to him with his foot in his cousin’s stomach and again when his cousin tried to say something. Ezili had to grab his arm and pulled him away before he murdered someone. She didn’t care if he did, though. She just didn’t want to draw more attention to herself and get exposed in front of all the other guests.
Panting, Harry adjusted his tie and stabbed a finger at the man on the floor. “If I see you put your hands on a woman again, I’ll beat your ass and make sure you’ll never get to set foot back into this family again. You hear me?”
The man couldn’t speak, only whimper.
Ezili opened her mouth to question, but Harry stopped her by taking her hand. “Come with me.”

Doyoung’s favorite drink is caramel coffee.
He doesn’t like it hot—you recall him mentioning, he prefers it iced, and he finishes it so fast that the cubes don’t melt and condensation doesn’t drip off the sides of the plastic cup.
So you shouldn’t be surprised that he’s at this very café. Especially since it is his spot, but it also shouldn’t be news to you when you’ve come here everyday for the past two weeks in hopes of running into him.
You wonder how he’s been doing. It’s been months since you’ve last seen him; forever ago since you saw him with that girl Karina, and you’re curious if he thinks about you as often as you think about him. He’s on your mind daily, sometimes by the hour depending on what you’re doing, and he feels like a drug you can’t quite quit (despite the shortage of time you’ve done fine without him).
And you admit willingly that your feelings for him come rushing back the moment you see that pretty smile dressed upon his lips when he laughs from his chest at the video his friend shows on his phone.
But you continue to sit in the corner of the shop, face behind your device as if you’re immersed in the technology when you’ve got your eyes on him the entire time.
Instagram doesn’t do justice. You never know what he’s really up to, you learn, because his feed only shows the happy pictures he poses for. But his stories—you stay for that. There’s some nights you’d catch him posting something with a scenery, a little heartfelt description written along the horizon, and it gives you a glimpse of how he’s vaguely feeling. Maybe they’re for you, well, you were hoping they were, but for a guy who isn’t the greatest in the romance department, he’s very artistic, so it wouldn’t be surprising if it weren’t for you.
Maybe it was for Karina.
Okay, there might be a slight chance that you were bitter about that chick. She hung out with Doyoung often, from what you speculate, possibly involved in the same friend group, having mutuals together (which, already is how she’s so different from you). She roughly reminds you of that emotion that runs through your veins when you first saw Doyoung talking to Joy; that clenched jaw, tightened fist, and a deep swallow to push down all your anger. Joy was just a friend, and you eventually learned that without having to go the hard route, but Karina… didn’t give you any reason to believe her friendly motives. But Doyoung isn’t yours, you have to remind yourself, and because he isn’t, there’s no need to get upset.
For one, the times you followed (don’t judge, you missed him but didn’t want to approach him if he wasn’t ready) him, Karina always stuck to Doyoung like glue. She was practically joined by the hip; batting her pretty long lashes, cheeks brushed with that coral pink blush like she’s all embarrassed because sweet boy Doyoung accidentally touched the back of her hand, and whenever she got the chance, she’d hold onto his arm tightly, pretending that she couldn’t catch her balance in those Ultraboost sneakers that were basically socks on a sole with no support.
“Ugh, you always do this,” one of his friends says, loud enough that you could hear from where you’re sitting. “How do you manage to beat me every time?”
“I learned the tricks,” Doyoung retorts, voice stable but his face all smug. “Doesn’t look like you did though.”
The other guy rolls his eyes before tossing his phone onto the table. “Forget that dumb game. I’m actually curious about something,” he begins, leaning over with his forearms pressed against the surface. There’s a mischievous smile that tugs on the ends of his mouth, and you rest back in your seat in curiosity when his tone changes. “You and Karina. What are the two of you?”
You nearly snap the pen you’d been fiddling in your hand.
Fucking Karina. Again. This bitch just keeps being brought up, doesn’t she?
Doyoung shifts in his seat, hands with his phone dropping onto his lap. A brow quirks, narrowing a strange gaze at his friend. “Why are you asking?”
“Mmm, heard there’s rumors going around about Karina liking you.”
“And,” Doyoung takes a sip of his iced coffee. “Why’s that matter?”
The friend clicks his tongue, groaning that Doyoung isn’t picking up the not-so-subtle hints. “Because. Have you seen her? Or are you just blind. She’s smokin’ hot like… literally any guy would want to get with her. And you too, which is kinda crazy—”
“—is it impossible to believe that someone attractive can like me?”
“I mean, no offense Doyoung, you don’t exactly look like the type that would sweep those types of girls off their feet. You spent most of the time indoors! Watching movies, playing games, maybe sometimes you go out to clubs and parties but barely and it’s with our geeky friends. Even I can come to terms that I’m a geek. Jocks or bad boys are what she would be into.”
Doyoung sighs. “Where are you going with this?”
“You should date her. Since, you know, you have that chance.”
He shrugs, bending the straw of his drink like he’s occupied with something else that’s going on in his mind. He’s quieter than usual, especially around a friend, and it’s left you pondering what’s got him so tied up. But then, you hear it.
“I’m waiting for someone.”
His guy scoffs in belief. “You’re waiting for someone. Who? That chick you were having friends with benefits with like a year ago? Dude, she was also out of your league. Rode a motorcycle, didn’t talk to anyone, hot, and somehow you got her attention. But dude, she’s been gone for a while now.”
Doyoung purses his lips. “Told her to come to me whenever she’s ready. Karina and I don’t really have something like… that. Not worth dropping the chances of her coming back and seeing me with Karina.”
“She’s got you that bad?”
A soft smile pulls on his lips, and he nods confidently. “Yeah, she does.”
Tumblr media
When Doyoung and his friend pack up their bags to leave, he halts in his tracks. “Actually, you head out first. I’ll meet you later tonight, I won’t be going to the pre-game.”
The latter stares at Doyoung suspiciously. “Really? What’s up with you? Thought you said you were tagging along.”
“Yeah but… I gotta do something real quick. I’ll meet up with you.”
Strange, you think to yourself, because Doyoung seemed like he was going to leave too, until that very last second. Then, you notice something. When his friend leaves through those double doors, he turns and looks directly at you.
At you. Like he sees you.
You’re not a ghost, but you’re pretty good at camouflaging yourself with a crowd. You’re not the prettiest nor the ugliest, so being average has an advantage in this field, but Doyoung isn’t like normal people. He sees you, and even though you’re in a black baseball cap with casual clothes to match, he still can spot you in a sea of people.
“You’re here,” he says, his tone between a question and a statement. Part of you expects him to be angry, fuming with rage because you’re here instead of asking him to meet up. “You’re… actually here.”
“I’m surprised you found me,” you retort, standing up from your seat and gathering up your belongings. “I thought I was good at blending with people.”
“I’m in love with you, you expect me to not see the girl I’m head over heels for?”
You pause.
Bag not even slung over your shoulder, your heart does the complete opposite of your motions and races. He what?
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Doyoung straightens his posture, trying his best to read the expression on your face. “Why… Why haven’t you called or reached out? Were you not ready until now?”
“I thought… you had a girlfriend,” you admitted, and truthfully, you’re not sure how Doyoung manages to get you to spill out your insecurities so easily. His eyes widened, and before he could say anything else, you interrupt his train of thought. “But that was months ago. It’s fine. I trained, and I’m back in the field, and I wanted to see how you were doing, that's all.”
“But you didn’t want to call me?”
You clear your throat, drifting your gaze elsewhere. “Like I said before. Thought you had a girlfriend. I don’t want to interfere with anything in your life that could be normal.”
He has a finger on your chin, directing your attention back to him. Your heart skips a beat this time, air sucked out of your lungs from his stare, and you swallow. “I waited for you, though. If you’re ready to come back, please come back. I have never dated anyone since I left your place, and I don’t intend to either. I made a promise and I’m keeping it.”
Tumblr media
You hated reporting here.
There’s something ominous about this warehouse; it’s not just the people who occupy it, but it’s the building itself. Outside, it looks like an abandoned stone mill. Worn down walls, windows shattered, and located in a dangerous neighborhood, secluded from all the up-and-coming buildings that are being constructed a couple blocks down. The cars that came for drop off didn’t come here either, so it made the building even more mysterious and seemingly empty.
But the moment you stepped in the front doors—it’s like a factory.
A factory that manufactured everything from guns, grenades, to bombs, and so on. Everything that you wore on missions, everything you held between your fingertips, and everything you utilized in the field were all made here.
The headquarters.
Upon entering, you had to go through security. Guns are to be logged in, identities are checked through the system, quick but yet thorough pat down, and phones are chipped until you leave the premises. Needless to say, they were careful and even someone like you with so much skill and worthiness cannot go undetected here.
“Boss is asking for you.” A gorgeous girl says, clipboard in her arms. She’s got her hair tied in a low bun, glasses on with thick frames, and a pencil skirt to pair with her white blouse.
“I asked for boss, but yeah, that.”
She nods, bowing her head just slightly and you’re wondering how she even got in this field. Shy, quiet, and fragile, she seems, and you wonder if she knows what’s actually happening around here. “Please follow me.”
She takes you down a narrow hallway, far from where the other workers were posted, and takes you through these metal doors that looked too heavy for her to push, but the guards standing by the sides do it for her instead.
“Head on in. He’s waiting.”
“Right,” you gesture her a head nod in thanks.
Taeyong is seated at his desk, two additional guards standing on either side of the wood, and he’s fidgeting with the pen in his hand. “Lookie here. Our star player. Ten’s little sister. What do I owe the honor?”
“I want out.”

Fool’s Rush In
Chapter 17
Tumblr media
This is my @wackydrabbles post for week 87. The prompt is bolded. "No offense, but I'm not interested."
Book: TRR
Pairing: Liam x Riley
Warnings: Drake and some language.
*I was in a silly mood and this turned into a dumpster fire lol and it feels very rushed but I was trying to meet the word count. There may be a little bit of plot in this.
Word count: 1999
------------------------
Liam sat on the floor with his back pressed against the mattress; one leg bent upright with the other extended crookedly out in front of him. Half of a bottle of Don Julio dangled loosely from a hand settled on his knee while two shiny gold rings encircled the pinky tip of his other.
In a fit of anger late last night, he searched for and consumed the first bottle of alcohol he came across in the liquor cabinet. He had no intentions of getting hammered or even a little drunk; Liam just needed something to take the edge off the hurt. Not that he for one second believed a word Riley told him before she walked out and boarded a red-eye commercial flight back to the States.
As Liam pondered her abrupt departure in the early hours of the morning, one thing was for sure: He'd never been in love before, but what he felt for Riley was real -- and reciprocated -- that, "no," she spewed from her mouth when asked if she loved him was a lie.
But why? That was the question he just couldn't figure out.
Having racked his brain for hours and with the sun finally coloring in the darkness of his chambers, Liam set aside his drink and lifted himself off the ground. Every thought that consumed him for the last several hours was riddled with putting the pieces together of why she actually left and why she felt she couldn't tell him the truth. Nothing made sense, yet ruminating alone in his room until he figured it out wasn't going to solve anything; the only way to get to the bottom of this was to retrace Riley's steps from the time she left the ball to when he made his way up to join her a little later.
Stumbling to the bathroom -- mostly from exhaustion and perhaps a little drunker than he realized -- Liam stripped off the tuxedo he wore the prior evening and took a quick shower before heading down to the security office.
-----------
Riley's heavily drooping eyelids popped wide open when the plane shook from another vigorous tremor of turbulence. Gripping the armrests on both sides of her seat, she hesitated to peek out the window but was relieved when she saw the billowy waters of the Pacific had transformed into small, mosaic blocks of land covered by a shadow of the nearly setting sun.
When the aircraft settled again, Riley reached into her purse and pulled out her cell phone to check the time, grateful to be landing soon. She planned to go straight home, sink into her bed, and sleep the rest of her life away. Maybe wake up every once in a while to sob again before going back to sleep. Whatever Riley decided to do, she hated Madeleine, she hated Tyler, and she hated telling Liam she didn't love him; the more Riley thought about the stunned look on his face when she said it, the more nauseous her stomach felt.
And the nausea was getting worse.
Riley caught the eye of a nearby stewardess and waved her over; she needed ginger ale, and she needed it fast.
"Can I help you, Miss?"
"I … I need, ginger ale, please." She asked through ragged breaths.
"Let me check and see if we have more." Riley nodded appreciatively.
"Hey. Don't I know you from somewhere?" A relatively large guy in the center seat, whose sweaty arm flab had been lodged in Riley's shoulder since takeoff, asked. Oh shit! Riley cupped a tight hand over her mouth and shook her head vigorously; the last thing she wanted was to be recognized.
Or vomit.
While the stewardess searched the service cart for the requested drink, the gentleman's eyes enlarged. "Wait a minute. Yeah! You're that little gal who married some king, with ..." he snapped his fingers before adding in his thick Texan drawl, "the monkey and hookers and shit. Wow, my fiance wants to have a wedding just like yours." He held his hand out to her. "The names Beaver Calhoun, mayor of Slippery Nip, Texas. I guess you could say we're both royals, huh?"
Riley lowered her hand slightly; she was past the point of ginger ale helping, and this guy was blocking her way out. "Beaver, I need you to move."
He stroked his chin in thought. "Well, I don't know, Queenie. I'm pretty content with my life there in Slippery Nip, Not really lookin' to uproot."
"No!' Riley's strained voice responded forcefully, "move out of the way--" She tried to fight it, but her head flung forward and everything came out with her last word.
Beaver looked down at his shirt and quirked a brow. "That's gonna leave a stain."
=============
On the second floor of a run-down Motel 6, just off the beaten path in Las Vegas, Drake tossed in the last of his clothes and airline tickets in a duffle bag and zipped it. Stepping over to the window, he pulled aside the tattered curtains to check if the airport's shuttle van had arrived yet. Disappointed, he grumbled to himself, "Where the hell are you? I'm ready to get the fuck out of here."
The past week had been intense -- well, frankly, the entire month had been nothing short of shit balls. Five weeks ago, Drake landed in Las Vegas for Liam's bachelor party and won big money at the casino, only to have it all pissed away on some old, decrepit hooker who stole his wallet, cell phone, dick health, and what little joy he had in the world. Liam left with a sexy ass wife, and all Drake got was the false claim of fathering triplets and his scowling face on the front cover of the National Enquirer with Dr. Ethan Ramsey detailing the entire sordid journey from pre-surgical rooster rot to the aftercare.
He made a quick $500 for the story, in which he badly needed the money, considering he couldn't leave Vegas until the paternity test results came back. It was enough for his lodging, a couple cans of Beenie-Weenies and a few boxes of pepperoni Hot Pockets; his stomach felt like oil sludge at this point. But as a joke, Leo had sent a box of Ding-Dongs, so it wasn't all bad.
The rotary phone in his room rang out, and he answered the call from the front desk, which let him know transportation had arrived. Drake grabbed his bag, flicked a cockroach off of it, and exited his room into the enclosed hallway.
After stepping onto the elevator and hitting the down button, another person strolled on in a black leather mini-skirt, white see-through halter top, and a pair of fishnet stockings that he'd recognize anywhere.
"You!" He growled at the chain-smoking hooker, backing her up into the corner. "Do you have any fucking idea what you did to me? And I WANT my wallet and cell phone back, now!" He hovered menacingly over the much smaller woman.
"No offense, but I'm not interested in giving them back to you," Pinquee Kittee sneered before reaching into her bra for mace and spraying him directly in the eyes. The rapid burn gave way to her next act of defense when a screaming, blinded Drake was doubled over by a swift karate kick to his newly transplanted organ. "Hiiiiyah!"
Drake cupped himself in anguish, fell to the floor, and slumped over as the elevator doors opened. Pinquee Kittee grabbed his duffle bag and peeked down the hallway to make sure no one was around before making her getaway.
------------------
Just outside of the palace's security office, Liam knocked on the door several times without an answer. It was rare that the King would personally pay a visit. Usually, he would call Bastien and have the head guard look into any issues. With him gone, this just felt like something Liam needed to do in person.
After several more knocks, Liam reached for the door handle and slowly opened it to let himself inside. The lights were off, with only a few CCTV screens displaying various images of places within and surrounding the palace. Finding the light switch on the wall beside the door, Liam flipped them on, and his mouth fell agape at what he saw.
"What the hell happened in here?" He shouted as his hands shot to his hips, glaring around the room.
On the floor was a maze of beer cans, whiskey bottles, remnants of silly string, a five-gallon bucket of butter next to a slip-n-slide, a voodoo doll with Liam's face on it, and half-a-dozen guards passed out.
A furious Liam made his way through, kicking the feet of guardsmen as he stepped along. "Get up! All of you!"
One-by-one, they slowly roused until they realized it was the King in their presence, then they jumped to their feet at attention.
"Would someone like to explain what the actual fuck happened in here?" Liam wasn't one to swear in front of his staff, but there was no way he could hold back after walking in on this scene. His glowering eyes shifted with expectancy from one man to the next, waiting for an answer, until someone finally called out, "We threw Rogers a going away party for his last night on the job, Your Majesty."
"And you thought having a wild party while you were ON DUTY to protect 400 members of the nobility for a major event was the time to do that?
The guard shook his head. "Not at all, Sir. I admit we weren't as attentive as we should have been last night ..." he pointed behind Liam, "but Prince Leo came by and suggested we kick it up a notch."
Liam turned around and caught Leo slithering along the edge of the wall toward the door. "Leo!"
The Prince stopped dead in his tracks, then flickered his eyes and jolted his body as if he were just waking up. Leo looked at Liam, acting surprised to see him. "Liam? Is that you? H-How did I get in here?"
Liam rolled his eyes. "Knock it off, Leo."
"What?” Leo shrugged innocently. “You know what I think happened. I must have been sleepwalking again. You know how I get when I watch The Duchess before bed." He cocked his head introspectively at his brother. “And you do look like the Duke from that movie, you handsome devil you?” He grinned impishly.
Liam stared blankly at his older brother for a few seconds, then turned around to face the others gathered around. "Who's in charge here?"
When one of the men raised a hand, the King stepped up to him and explained, "Alright, I need you to pull up security footage from last night. I want to review everything from the moment I stepped outside the ballroom to meet the Queen around 9:30, and where she went after I went back into the ballroom."
If this were any other day, Liam would have fired every one of them on the spot and sent Leo to Antarctica, but he only had one concern: Finding out what happened to Riley.
As the guard typed in his computer to pull up footage from last night, Leo stepped up to Liam, who was hovering over the guard's shoulder with anticipation. "What's going on?"
Never taking his eyes off the screen, he responded. "Riley went back to Las Vegas last night."
"Wh-Why? What happened?"
Liam let out a breath. "That's what I'm trying to find out."
Leo remained silent before giving his little brother's shoulder a reassuring squeeze and watching with him.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary as different camera footages were switched to follow Riley walking from the main staircase, through several passages, and finally ending with the corridor outside of his quarters.
"Stop!" Liam leaned in closer as the guard paused the video; his entire body tensed up at what he saw.
"Is that ..." Leo scrunched up his face in disgust.
"Madeleine."

You Have My Word
Pairing: Prince!Dean x handmaiden!reader
Summary: As Lady Charlie’s handmaiden, Prince Dean would surely never be interested in you...right?
WC: ~2,050
Warnings: floof, mutual pining, smidge of angst (i.e. self-worth, social class, forbidden love)
Square filled: Going horse riding for @spnmixedbingo
A/N: This was supposed to be a quick drabble to get some of my medieval feels out, but here we are. I was getting impatient with the Knight!Dean oneshot I’m working on and I whipped this out in one go, so please be gentle! Gifs by @lightjenvlp and @saneves-fan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Y/N!” Lady Charlie called.
You carefully placed the last of her garments in the wardrobe and hurried to her side.
“Yes, My Lady?”
She spotted you in the reflection of her mirror, fussing with her hair a moment longer before she turned on her seat to face you. She quirked an eyebrow and pressed her lips into a thin line. “Is that what you’ve chosen to wear today?”
You glanced at your attire and sheepishly met her eyes. “Are they not to your liking? I can gather something else from my quarters, if it would please you.”
“No, no—they will do.” She pursed her lips as she appraised you. “Just...a few small adjustments.”
Lady Charlie dragged you back toward her wardrobe, wearing a sly grin as she kneeled to rummage through the contents you had yet to organize. Before you could offer your help, she soon withdrew a bundle of fabric and rose to her feet again.
“Put this on.”
Your eyes grew wide, beholding the luxurious cloth she extended toward you. It was a forest green cloak, as rich and vibrant as foliage after a gentle summer rain. The velvet material was soft and elegant, unlike the coarse, tattered fabrics that comprised most of your clothes.
“I-I cannot wear this.”
“It is a gift that belongs to you. Surely you would not refuse an item, carefully hand-crafted by my request?”
“Of course not, Lady Charlie.”
Despite your qualms, you donned the garment as she had asked. The delicate material cascaded down your shoulders and over your figure, with the seam barely grazing the floor. It was the perfect length, and more breathtaking than anything you had ever owned.
After she adjusted your hair, she took a step back and regarded you with a manner of pride. “Lovely.”
“It is,” you answered softly, in awe of your appearance. “My Lady, I cannot accept this. It is much too—”
“Enough. You have been my trusted and devoted handmaiden for some time. It is the least I can do to demonstrate my thanks. Now, I need you to go to the stables and run my horse.”
“Your horse?”
“Off you go!”
Without another word, she guided you out of her chambers before promptly closing the door.
You began weaving your way through the maze of corridors, feeling slightly absurd in your new garments. Despite your loyalty to Lady Charlie over the years, you were simply fulfilling your duties. You didn’t dare reject such a generous gift, but you were certainly unfit to wear such a precious item—even if it was a beautiful token of gratitude.
Lost in your thoughts, you entered the stables and flinched back in surprise when you nearly collided with Prince Dean.
“My apologies, Your Highness! Please forgive my carelessness.”
Prince Dean bowed slightly and winked at you. He wore a white linen tunic, whose deep neckline revealed an enticing glimpse of his chest. The crow’s feet that framed his emerald eyes were further etched into his skin by his bright smile.
“You are, of course, already forgiven. Is that a new cloak?”
“It is, My Lord. A gift from Lady Charlie.”
“It suits you well.”
“T-thank you, My Lord.”
You could feel the warmth rising in your cheeks from his compliment, making you turn from his unwavering gaze. You admired everything about the Prince and, on most occasions, it was difficult to conceal how you felt about him.
Aside from being the most handsome man you had ever laid eyes upon, he was also noble, charming, and kind. A courageous warrior, yet a fair and just leader. He cared deeply for the people of his kingdom, and treated every individual with grace and respect, regardless of their social class. You were sure that, one day, he would be a great king.
Alas, the very qualities you admired about him were precisely why the two of you would never be together. Despite the adoring gleam you sometimes imagined when he looked at you, he was the future King of Lebanon, and you were nothing more than a meager servant.
“Are you ready?” he inquired.
“My Lord?”
As Prince Dean strode away, you noticed two horses already saddled and waiting. His breathtaking chestnut companion tossed its head and whinnied as he approached. You watched as he greeted the stallion with a low and soothing voice, gently stroking its neck before he gathered the reins from the stable boy. When the Prince began making his way back, you realized the other horse was the dapple gray mare you had been instructed to exercise.
“How did you know I was to run Lady Charlie’s horse?”
He shrugged, but a mischievous smile tugged at his lips. “I know my sister well.”
Keeping the horses steady, he helped you clumsily mount before he climbed onto his own steed. The two of you departed from the stables, chatting with one another and nodding at townspeople as you trotted through the cobblestone streets of the kingdom. A few of his trusted knights followed close behind—their presence making you consider how difficult it must be for the Royal Family never to have any privacy.
As you passed through the gates, entering the rolling meadows just beyond the castle walls, the Prince halted and addressed his men.
“Leave us and stick to the perimeter. We shall return in an hour.” Once the knights had dispersed, he turned to you with a smile that aroused a swarm of butterflies in your stomach. “Care for a little friendly competition?”
Without a word, you smirked and snapped the reins to send your Lady’s horse into a gallop. His faint laughter faded until it was masked by the sound of another thunderous pair of hooves quickly approaching. Your cloak billowed behind you, whipping in the wind, much like the banners of Lebanon during a storm.
The two of you raced through the pastures, laughing and taunting one another for some time before the Prince finally slowed his horse. Following his lead, you prompted the mare to trot alongside him until you reached a wooded area.
“What are you doing?” you asked as he dismounted.
“There is a small stream ahead, just off of the path. The horses will need a drink before I best my sister’s steed and rider again.”
You scoffed, shaking your head in amusement as you carefully slid from your saddle. “We must get you to the physician when we return to the castle, My Lord. It would seem you are not well, for it was your horse who was bested—anyone with eyes would have seen that.”
He chuckled, leading the way down a mild slope as you guided the animals to the edge of the stream. “Fortunately for us, it seems it is your word against mine. What ruling do you suppose the court would come to?”
“And here I believed you to be a man of integrity,” you teased. “How nice it must be to have everything you want handed to you.”
While admiring the landscape, brimming with trees and shrubbery that skirted the brook, you patted the mare’s neck. A pleasant silence settled over the two of you, though you had anticipated the Prince retaliating with a clever remark of his own. You peeked at him over your shoulder, noting that he seemed preoccupied as he stared at the ground. As if he could sense your curious eyes, he looked up at you with a meaningful expression.
“I would argue I am not awarded everything I want…”
He gazed at you intently, closing the distance until his face was mere inches from your own. He slowly raised his hand, hovering just out of reach as he gauged your reaction. When you did not object, he gently traced his fingertips along your jaw.
“I find that difficult to believe,” you whispered, letting your eyes flutter closed.
Feeling the warmth of his calloused hand against your cheek, you instinctively leaned into his touch. He began rubbing his thumb back and forth along your cheekbone, coaxing you to look at him again. You heeded his silent request, finding his emerald eyes full of such longing that they seemed to pierce your very soul. He stole a glance at your lips, tentatively watching for any sign of protest as he bowed his head. Unable to resist the spellbinding force luring you toward him, you leaned forward until your lips finally met.
For such a hardy and powerful man, his kiss was surprisingly tender. His lips molded to yours, soft and unhurried. Your hands, unwittingly anchored on his broad chest, rose as he drew in a deep breath. You sighed in return, giving him the opportunity to explore your mouth with his eager tongue. Just as you began to feel breathless and weak from his impassioned touch, you pushed away from him and stumbled backward when a sudden wave of conflicting emotions swelled inside of you.
Prince Dean’s hand chased after you, lingering in the space you had occupied mere seconds ago. “I… My apologies if I was too forward.”
“No, My Lord, the mistake was mine. I should not have come all the way out here. It was careless and I will see myself back to the castle at once.”
As you rushed toward the horses, he sidestepped and planted himself in your path. “If that is what you wish, then I will happily escort you back. But, I must confess…I wish that you would stay.”
You gaped at him, knowing someone like him would surely never enjoy the company of someone like you. But as you searched his face for any hint of deceit, all you could find was sincerity behind his words. In truth, he seemed disheartened by the thought of you leaving.
“I can assure you that you did not take advantage. But we should not be here. If anyone were to see us—”
“Then let them see.”
“You are a prince! Not just any prince—the Crown Prince. The rightful heir to the Throne of Lebanon. One day you will be King and...” You trailed off, noticing his halfhearted smile.
“Are you simply listing my titles, or is there reason behind your speech?”
“You are royalty, My Lord. I am only a servant.”
He grew serious as he cradled your face in his hands. “You say that as if it is something shameful. If my sister had not been graced with you as her handmaiden, I might have lived my entire life without ever knowing you.”
When your trembling hand sought his chest, he captured it eagerly and clutched it to his heart. His words steadily chipped away at your resolve, but you maintained your feeble argument, knowing there could be consequences for both of you.
“The King would never allow you to be with the likes of me.”
“My father may have rule over the Kingdom, but that does not mean his word dictates my actions.”
“Does it not? He may be your father, but he is also the King. You know better than anyone that his word is law.”
He smiled fondly at you and pressed his lips to your forehead. “Perhaps some laws are meant to be mended.”
“What would you have us do? Meet in secret?” you asked quietly.
“If that would make you comfortable, for the time being. Lady Charlie has already proven to be a worthy ally.”
“You mean to say she helped arrange this?” You tilted your head with a furrowed brow.
“Though I wish I could accept a portion of the credit, the entire outing was her doing. I believe the words ‘coward’ and ‘dollophead’ were tossed around when she told me of her plan. It seems she was irritated that I had not yet acted on my affections,” he chuckled.
“Well, I suppose if My Lady insists…”
The Prince grinned, tangling one hand in your hair as he moved the other to your waist. You circled your arms around his shoulders as he hugged you close and kissed you once more.
“I will find a way for us to be together,” he murmured against your lips. “You have my word.”
