“wait wait wait, hold up. he offered to fix your shit whenever you need it?”
your friend lyla, since high school and basically a sister to you, has been freaking out over your story about your neighbor fixing your engine and sink and how he offered to help you when needed.
you shrug. “yeah, pretty much.”
“gurl, he’s definitely into you.”
you almost choke on your lemonade, coughing it back down your throat. “the fuck- no he’s not, lyla. jesus, it’s just a generous offer.”
she scoffs, rolling her eyes under her iconic hot pink heart shaped glasses. “gurl, please. he straight up fixed your engine without you even asking, which you said it was under 5 minutes.” she raises her index finger in a sassy manner. “and he fixed your sink and practically begged you to not pay him back. the man is a sweetheart and clearly into you, period.”
you stare at her with a deadpan expression. can’t believe what she said but it’s kinda true. he did fixed your engine without asking him, he just straight up did it. and he was serious about not paying him back.
but he’s definitely not into you.
“it’s called generosity, search it up. besides, it’s just neighbors helping neighbors.”
“oh my god, you’re so in denial but fine whatever.” she waves off with a hand. “but don’t come screaming back to me when he asks you out.”
you facepalm yourself, sighing frustratingly. “i’m gonna murder you.”
“aw love ya too, bestie.”
you got lyla’s reaction, now it was eddie’s turn.
“i told you!”
you stand there with an annoyed expression, staring at him with daggers. “cállete.”

a quiet sigh left your lips. “yeah, maybe. now can you stop celebrating and focus on the damn article which is due by the end of the day?” you shoot him a glare.
eddie chuckled, nodding. “alright alright, let’s get that shit done.”

it’s friday night, hanging out at jackie’s. mj, your other friend, texted you she’ll pick you up so you can meet up with the guys there, peter, harry and eddie. after getting ready, a black crop top and some jeans, mj picks you up and you drive over to the bar.
entering the bar, which seems to be a bit packed tonight, you spot the guys sitting a table near the far corner. eddie and harry wave at you with smiles. passing through the crowd trying to not bump into people, you make your way towards your friends. but you’re walking, you notice peter is talking to someone. a tall, bulky figure whose dark brown hair and muscular shoulders you recognize any day.
oh shit- that’s your neighbor.
peter seems to notice your presence when he turns to see you and mj arriving, a bright, dorky smile plastered on his face. but your eyes are already glued on your neighbor, whose his eyes meets your own and match your surprised expression. your heart freezes the moment your eyes meet.
“hey!” he quickly walks over to mj and gives her a quick kiss which she reciprocates. “i want you guys to meet an old buddy of mine.”
he wraps an arm around miguel, giving his shoulder a light pat which miguel seems to be agitated about. “this is miguel, my old pal from high school.”
hold up- he knows peter? peter knows him?
they went to high school together?
what kind of fucking coincidence is this?
everyone greets him with kind hellos and smiles but you’re just staring at him with wide eyes. eddie winked at you which you glared in return. peter seems to notice the tension between you two.
“you uh know each other?” he gestures at you and miguel with a hand.
you blink feverishly, tearing away from his gaze. “uh yeah… we’re neighbors.” awkwardness in your tone.
you don’t miss the way peter’s eyes light up in enthusiasm. “no way! really? that’s cool! guess you won’t have to only talk to me, huh bud?” he gives miguel another pat on the shoulder.
miguel, on the other hand, still looks agitated and slightly embarrassed. shit maybe you made it more awkward for him. but peter is the one putting him on the spotlight so it’s not entirely your fault.
“cállete.” the taller man grumbles before giving you a quick glance then looks away.
you two don’t say much to each other after that awkward encounter. miguel joins you and your friends. you, mj and eddie on one side of the table. miguel, peter, and harry on the other. coincidentally you and miguel sit across from each other, acting as if you don’t know one another. it’s mainly everyone else keeping the conversation going while sipping on beer, you’ll participate like usual pretending his appearance doesn’t affect you. not in a bad way, it’s just odd yet amusing your neighbor is sitting across from you along with your group of friends.
throughout the night, you feel the tension between you and miguel. his eyes on you the entire time, making you feel warm. you play it cool, pretending it’s not affecting you but really it is. the tension wrapped around your neck. especially whenever you talk, oh you definitely feel his gaze. your heart pumping a bit faster than usual. it doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable, just nervous. your neighbor, a very attractive man, observing your every move.
when he isn’t looking at you, you’d sneak glances at him. you can’t help but admire the soft, golden lighting of the bar does wonders on his facial features. damn he looks majestic as hell. those cheekbones stick out. an amazing side profile. you quickly look away when he turns back, both of you unintentionally sipping your beer simultaneously.
later on, you notice your bottle is empty. one beer is enough for tonight, will ask for a water instead. after telling your friends you’ll be right back, you head over to the bar and politely ask for water. the bartender nods with a kind smile and retrieves your requested beverage. while waiting, you suddenly feel a presence next to you. looking aside, it’s miguel.
“otra moledo, pro fav.” he requests.
the bartender gives him a nod after he returns with your water. you thank him with a kind smile and take a sip of your water, not meeting miguel’s gaze.
“i guess we can never get away from each other.”
“i guess not.” he indulged in your joke.
“so, been friends since high school? sounds magical.” some sarcasm in your tone.
that earns you a light scoff from him. “con ese huevón, it’s the opposite.”
“figured.” a little smile on your face. “peter is special.”
“an idiot most of the time. surprised he’s engaged but good for him.”
“yeah, crazy but they’re good for each other.” you spare a glance at peter and mj.
his friend engaged to your friend. how can it be more of a fucking coincidence? goddamn.
“how did you guys become friends?” curiosity got the best of you. now, you finally look at him. sometimes you forget to crane all your neck up just to meet his eyes. curse him for being so damn tall.
the bartender returns with his moledo and miguel quickly thanks then takes a sip. “robotics club.”
your eyes widen. “you were in robotics club?”
he can hear the amusement in your tone. “what? is that so hard to believe?” he looks at you with a teasing expression, one brow arched.
you can’t help but chuckle a little. “honestly, by your demeanor, kinda.”
the man huffs, shaking his head with a very faint smile on his face. the very first smile you’ve ever seen. not to mention you caused it. you can’t deny the way your heart flutters at the sight.
“well, i was. before i got signed up, i was interested in robotics. since i was a kid, i liked building things.”
you tilt your head a little, evidently interested. “did you win any competitions?”
he confirms with a nod. “four.”
your brows raise in surprise. “damn, you really did enjoy building things, that’s pretty cool.”
the man huffs in amusement. “you?”
“me?” you scoff. “well, i definitely didn’t build cool stuff and won awards for them in high school.”
that earns you a quiet chuckle from him. a sound that makes your heart flutter. a sound you’ve never heard him make but you managed to do so.
you look off to the side, acrylic nails quietly tapping the glass filled with water. “i was a choir girl.”
what you don’t see is the tiny smirk on his face. “a choir girl? not surprised.” audible amusement in his tone, making you look back at him which causes his smirk to grow a bit wider.
“what do you mean by that?” your brows furrowed, a little smile on your lips.
“i heard you singing the other night.”
oh… shit.
singing is one of your hobbies. sometimes you’d sing in the shower, mainly when you used to live with no next door neighbor. but that one night he’s talking about, you were really in the mood and didn’t realize you were singing a bit louder than usual. as ironic as it is, you’re shy in singing in front of others, mainly people you don’t know or not in choir.
you forgot someone lived on the other side of the wall. he heard you and it was during the night. fuck, you could’ve woken him up. oh now you really wanna facepalm yourself out of embarrassment.
“oh shit… my bad. i’m sorry if i woke you. after five months of no next door neighbor, i got used to singing without worrying.”
miguel can see the panic and embarrassment illustrated on your face. a small wave of guilt hits him. “you didn’t, although i was surprised for a second but it’s fine so don’t feel bad.” he said reassuringly.
but truthfully, he enjoyed hearing you. such an angelic voice. it reminded him of aurora singing in the woods from sleeping beauty when he and his younger brother gabriel watched disney movies with the neighbors’ kids when he was a child.
the embarrassment still lingers in your veins. even though he reassured you it was okay, you still feel a bit guilty. now you have to remind yourself there is someone behind that wall, have to be respectful.
you haven’t realized your friends have been waiting for you to come back until you notice peter waving at you guys. eddie flashes a little smirk, making you glare in return. you’ve been standing here having your own tiny conversation that you completely forgot the friends you’re meant to hang with tonight.
“we should head back.” you softly chuckle, miguel nods as you both head back to the group.

it’s a little past 11:00 pm when you decide to call it a night. the original plan was for mary jane to take you home but miguel offered to take you instead since you guys live in the same place. his offer surprised you but it makes sense so you accept.
mj gives you a teasing look, a very faint smirk and a raised brow but you roll your eyes and give her a hug, hoping it would shut her up.

you completely forgot this man drives a motorcycle. when you head over to where his bike is parked, you feel a bit anxious. it’s been years since you’ve rode one, not since your ex boyfriend from high school. he used to drive you around town when you two were supposed to be doing homework. it was the sweet teenage romance portrayed in movies.
miguel noticed your apprehension. his brows furrowed a little. “never ridden one before?”
“no i have, it’s just been years…”
“if you’re uncomfortable about it then we can take an uber but i promise you,” the sincerity in his tone makes you look up at him “you’ll be safe with me, i won’t let anything happen to you.”
whoa, his words your heart fluttered like crazy. those mesmerizing mahogany eyes boring into yours filled with sincerity makes your heart race.
“o-okay.”
hoping on the bike, with miguel’s assistance by holding your hand, you never realize how big motorcycles are. or maybe you’re just that short, either way the bike is big. not to mention it’s cold as hell, feeling the cold sensation through your jeans.
he passes his helmet to you. unfortunately, it’s the only one since he came by himself.
“wait- what about you?”
“don’t worry about it, chica. i’ve rode without one before so it’s no problem.”
you huff, a little smile on your lips as you put of the helmet. it’s big on you, even with the strap adjusted.
the minute he gets on the bike, black leather covers your vision. his broad back to you. the starting engine startles you a little. you don’t see the little smirk on miguel’s face at your reaction.
“¿estas lista?” his head turns to the side, seeing you from his peripheral.
you hum with a nod. at first, you’re hesitant to touch him since you’ve never been this close before. but you have no other choice so you have to. very slowly, you wrap your arms around his waist. touching him ever so lightly to not trigger his comfort.
miguel chuckled at your hesitation. “gotta hold on tighter, chica.”
you immediately do when he slowly starts driving off. clinging onto him like your life depends on it. not that he’s speeding like wild but because he’s only your source of security. like mentioned before, it’s been years since you’ve rode a motorcycle. but the warmth radiating from his body soothe your worries.
even through the leather, you can feel the warmth. all the worries of falling or slipping off the bike slowly fades away by the radiating warmth. you can’t help but relax, gently resting your head on his back, finding comfort in his body warmth. not only comfort but security too. there isn’t an exact reason why but just his strong, bulky presence makes you feel safe.
miguel can sense your relaxed self, making the corners of his lips lift up ever so slightly. breaking into a very small smile when you grip on his jacket a bit tighter when he makes a sharp turn. the small, muffled gasp escaping your lips.
for him, it’s been years since he taken someone on his bike. prior to signing up, in fact. some girl he was hanging out with but never got serious due to his departure. it was always him and his bike.
until now and he enjoys it.
the drive was quiet yet enjoyable, breezing through the streets. a rememberable moment. you return home safely. as miguel parked the bike and turned off the bike, you take the helmet off.
“you okay?” he asks, his head to the side.
“yeah, it was fun.”
he lightly smiled at that.
after hoping off the bike and handing back his helmet, you enter the complex building. miguel opens the entrance door for you. it made your heart skip a beat. what a gentleman.
“thanks for driving me home.” you said as you approach your apartment door.
“of course.” miguel walks over to his door.
“tonight was interesting.” a tiny smile on your face, recapping tonight’s memories.
he agrees with a hum. “yeah, never thought we would be in the same place.”
you nod slowly. “me either. well… night.” just as you reach for the door handle, his voice stops you.
“wait—” he softly calls out, causing you to look back at him. “is your sink working alright?”
you’re a bit surprised by his question, mainly the fact he remembers. it’s kinda sweet of him to remember still. “oh yeah, it’s fine. no problems since.”
“that’s good. no other problems?”
you think for a moment but thought of nothing. “nope, everything’s fine.” you lightly shake your head.
miguel hums in approval with a nod.
this man is really considerate. of course you remember his offer to fix things for you if needed. in fact, it never left your mind. so generous of him. sometimes you feel a bit guilty because he’s willing to fix your troubles, especially for free. you’re gonna convince him to pay him back one day.
you say goodnight to each other, miguel watching you enter your apartment before entering his own. ending the night with little knowledge of each other and a fun little journey back home.
the beginning of new journeys ahead… maybe?

Touya doesn’t break your stare, doesn’t look away, but humor’s in his eyes before he starts to chuckle. It’s deep, and you stop fiddling with him. You withdraw your hand, saliva stringing like guitars. 
“Like what ya see, dove?” 
You hum, nodding. 
“Yeah, those teeth of yours are like pearls underneath the deepest ocean.” 
Another chuckle, but it revs into a few bold laughs before Touya shakes his head and reaches for a water bottle next to the bed. He unscrews the cap, holds it between his thumb and index, and takes a fat swig. You wince. 
“C’mon, Touya, don’t drink that flavored mineral water shit. It’s like dishwater.” 
A few more hearty chugs, and Touya pops the bottle away with a satisfied gasp. 
“But I like the way she burns…” 
There’s a resigned sigh that leaves you before a sly grin dances across your face, and Touya arches a brow. He starts to put the bottle down while you use this moment to begin crawling further up Touya’s textured chest. The bottle clatters the rest of the way to the floor once your fingers tease over his collar bones, and you have a faint thought of spilled water that’s going to wet your socks once you step out of bed, and you wonder if Touya laid that trap on purpose as a cheap prank. His pruned hands curl around your body, muscle memory, and you can feel his frosty breath fan across your lips whenever you brush yours against his. That humor in his eyes twinkles into something more, something softer, and you wonder if things will always be like this. 
“If you’re getting plastered, then lemme have some.” 
Static electricity trickles against the shells of your lips whenever you press against Touya, and he groans instinctively. He’s always been so sensitive. His fingers flex into your skin, worming underneath the band of your underwear and slipping beneath the edge of your bra. The sensation makes you moan, and Touya swallows the sound up. HEAR ME OUT PAVIA LOVERS
Imagine you and Pavia meeting as kids when he was still stuck in the basement.
You found a small window at the side of his aunties home, 3 feet from the ground. When you peaked in out of curiosity, you see him and several unrecognizable animals lurking behind him.
The sound of dripping water, breathing, the squeaks of rodents in the wood panels, and endless silence accompanied him.
He then noticed you and was quite startled. He had his guard up at first but warmed up since this was like a once in a blue moon experience for him.
Talk about making friends, he introduced you to his imaginary friends! Named Peter, Andrea, Maleificent, Tonika, and Leon.
Finding about how he stays in the basement every day, you took it upon yourself to hand him down the knowledge you would learn in class.
At night, you both needed to whisper quietly to talk to each other, which was a big struggle. You asked if he had any empty cans in the basement, and he replied yes after looking for one.
The same night, you got a can and a string from your home and came back to Pavia. You told him to make a hole at the center bottom of the can, slipped the string through the window, and 1, 2, 3 bang! You both got can telephones now.
Pavia was truly happy that he could hear you more closely. The first thing he asked was who invented the can telephone. He fell in love
Unfortunately, one day, when you came back from school, ready to teach him new things... he disappeared.

Sam isn't one to want to interact other porters, he's just there to get the job done, nothing more
You two just coincidentally met at the same location when completing your orders
And then it happened again. And again... and again. That was when you just had to get to know eachother, you of course starting the conversations, which then lead you two to become friends after a good while
Sam is always looking out for you, telling you to take breaks when you need and telling you to watch out for the MULEs during your deliveries, wouldn't want you to get DDS or getting your things stolen
If he finds an area that was hard to traverse or has a lot of timefall, he'll put up upcoming warning signs or, if he's got the time, build timefall shelters with you in mind
In his opinion, he doesn't think you should be a porter, but that's just his worried self talking
'This job is too dangerous, you shouldn't waste your life on something like this', is something that runs through his mind when he thinks about you, but he knows you're fully capable of handling yourself out there, as much as he hates to admit it
Would he confess to you? Most likely not, unfortunately
Sam is more of a lone wolf type of guy with all he's been through, so not only does he prefer to keep it that way for those reasons, but he doesn't want to ruin the already existing relationship between you two
Sam fears losing you, both to death and if you were to end your friendship
So if keeping the good friendship he has with you comes at the cost of the two of you not developing into something more, then so be it
Let's just hope it's you who confesses for him

In all honesty, he only took interest when he saw you frequently talk to Sam while delivering
And he knows Sam of all people wouldn't have a friend, I mean come on! Why would anyone want to talk to him?
So what was with you? He couldn't get it off of his mind, and he didn't want to admit he was jealous that Sam got the attention of someone who genuinely liked being around him and he didn't
And so he made it his duty to take your attention off of Sam and onto him instead, as he can't stand Sam of all people having something he doesn't
It doesn't take long for him to thinking of you romantically, with all the stalking he's done on you
You're his new pizza delivery person from now on, get ready to have your email spammed by a certain 'Peter Englert'
Look, he already likes to mess with Sam on his deliveries, do you really think you'll be any different?
Though, it won't be done by the same hate he has for Sam, rather, he does it out of his own enjoyment of watching you struggle with deliveries
He'll even go as far as to mess with you while you're delivering his orders, but not too much since he still cares about his pizza
But if you manage to deliver his things on time and in good condition, he'll be sure 'Peter' gives you many compliments on your delivery, ever so grateful for your effort
So basically, during your time as a porter, you'll be shown both his "good" and "bad" sides without even knowing they're the same person
If he ever decided on trying to confess to you, he wouldn't say it outright, deeming it a bit too "cliché" for his tastes. Instead, he would write for you in one of his emails (or in all of them until you finally realize lol) a secret message for you to decipher on your own
Which is just him spelling out something like 'I like you' or 'ur hot' with the first letters of his sentences. Nothing too complex, but also enough to let that nerdy side of him out

On a more serious note, now that I’m halfway into Farscape season 1, I can’t help but think about Peter Quill/Star-Lord from “Guardians of the Galaxy” being a lesser John Crichton. Because, as I’ve written before, James Gunn was so obviously inspired by Farscape:
1) John and Peter are the good ole American protagonists who were taken to deep space against their will. They connect with people through pop culture references and their good heart.
2) Aeryn Sun and Gamora are the stone cold warriors who used to fight for the bad guys but are now on the side of good. They also have a romance with John/Peter.
3) Ka D’Argo and Drax are the proud warriors who are seeking to redeem themselves. They also are so stiff that references and simple sayings go over their heads.
4) Rygel is sorta kinda like Rocket Raccoon in that they’re the scheming loudmouths who look out for themselves.
5) Pilot and Groot fulfill the role of the lovable support character who helps everyone in the crew.
6) Zotoh Zhaan doesn’t have a perfect GOTG counterpart, but I really do feel that James Gunn split her traits between Nebula (who got the rage and tragic backstory) and Mantis (who got the mind powers).
Anyways, back to the main point. While Peter Quill does come off as a John clone, I think the way John’s arc was handled was superior to the way Peter was written. I think the main reason is that I can see why John would be his crew’s leader (or, at least, the crewmate keeping everything together) while Peter feels like he’s the leader because the plot says he should be.
John starts off as the goofball who can’t do anything right. No one trusts him and they think of him as the idiot who they just keep around. But as season 1 goes on, you can tell that he’s the glue who’s keeping the crew together. He’s the crewmate who got everyone to open up, especially Aeryn (who was trained to be cold and emotionless) and D’Argo (who distrusts everyone because of his traumatic past). He’s like that one friend who you feel like you can talk to about anything, especially since everyone else in the crew is dealing with their own problems.
So when we get to the episode where John is ready to leave, it makes sense that everyone feels hesitant to see him go. Aeryn is starting to fall for him, he was one of the few people who D’Argo would consider a friend, he helped Zhaan through some of her toughest times, and he generally got along with Rygel.
As for Peter Quill, I’m not saying he was badly written. It’s just him being treated as the team’s leader is not as believable. It’s like, imagine if John Crichton was written to be as emotionally closed off and standoffish as everyone else in the crew. While this does make Peter stand out as his own character separate from John, it also makes you wonder why Quill was written as the team’s leader. I’m sure that’s why it was a recurring gag that Quill was always struggling to be seen as the leader, whether it was from Rocket or Thor. The writers knew that wasn’t 100% believable, so they wrote it into the story.
I don’t get that with John. He might be the resident goofball, but he’s also why the crew hasn’t fallen apart.
TL;DR Peter Quill/Star-Lord was obviously modeled after John Crichton. But the MCU character who feels more in line with John as a character is Clint Barton/Hawkeye.

Peter Bishop, aka God's Multiversal Apology
Preface note: I've currently been watching/rewatching Fringe, and I have Thoughts, so expect this to be the first of many posts.
First of all, I just need to talk about how much I love Peter Bishop. Not necessarily as a character crush (although it's not not that), but just generally. For all of his background and all of his emotional issues going on, I would have expected him to be a lot more..toxic? I mean, when we first see him he's a bit of a bad boy type, and generally mean to both Walter and Olivia, but I'm glad that the writers knew where the line was. His actions at the beginning of the show are demonstrations of how he's been closed off and running from his past, currently living in a state of hyper independence where he feels like he can't really trust anyone. I think that if it continued for too long, those traits could easily have made him really dark really quickly, and they could have overpowered any grounded moments that he had. Instead, the writers cut/heavily dilluted that aspect of the character pretty early on. At the very least, by the midpoint of season one, he's already started to soften up a bit, and his mean streak becomes the more sardonic charm of Peter that audiences love. By the end of season one, he's downright affectionate.
Speaking of affectionate, I absolutely live for the way he treats Olivia after that mid-season change. I think it would have been pretty easy for the writers to make him a tough-love, "get a fucking grip", push-her-to-the-breaking-point type, similar to earlier Broyles, and instead Peter treats her with such....gentleness.
When she has a panic attack in "Bad Dreams", he goes to comfort her. He clearly makes moves to touch her, but the motions that he makes are really carefully placed in front of her where she can see him, and he backs up/moves his hands away so as not to seem restricting. He doesn't even make contact with her until he knows that she's in a grounded enough place to handle it. That level of respect for her space and emotions is something not often seen in media, and not necessarily expected to come from their (at this time) still vaguely antagonistic relationship. Not only does it show his respect for her, though, just his willingness alone is something that feels so personal. It was one of the first examples of Peter's really deep compassionate streak that he has (especially in terms of Olivia), and it stuck out to me that...at that time, he had no reason really to comfort her. He was still in a more professional setting, and they hadn't quite developed the same level of emotional understanding they have in later seasons. And yet he was so ready to go after her, and so ready to offer not only words, but actual, physical comfort. He held her so tightly, once he knew he could. As all of Olivia's backstory becomes more and more apparent to both audiences and herself, I appreciate these moments even more. She isn't used to gentle men in her life, so the fact that Peter comes along, and he respects her, and trusts her, and most importantly, is gentle with her when she needs him to be, showing her time and again what true love and affection can be, it's just..fucking precious to me. It's everything she deserves and more (though that's a different post entirely).
Anyways, it's also really charming to me that physical contact is a repeated pattern with Peter. From a character perspective, that's so fascinating. He has faced such traumas throughout his lifetime that he seems like a character that would be really hesitant to form connections, and rightfully so. Yet, not only is Peter empathetic, he is so overtly physical about it. Whenever someone else is in pain, Peter becomes a comforter and a protector. And every time he does, it feels like that "he healed something he didn't break" moment. It seems like Peter, who comes from such brokenness and secrecy, just wants to keep the people around him safe, because he's seen the absolute worst things that can happen. He had every right to be angry and cruel, but instead he chooses to be an anchoring point for the people around him, and absolutely loves them fiercely.
It's not that Peter is flawless. He's known to be a bit aggressive, and often dismissive of Walter, among many other instances of recklessness, plus a couple counts of fraud. Yet at the same time, to me, those flaws don't make his love and compassion any less merit worthy. It just makes him a complex character. It's the reason why he feels so stand-out from other characters of that genre of show, and other tropes of The Leading Bad Boy. Peter Bishop at his heart is just...written beautifully, and he's exactly the type of healthy masculinity that sci-fi tends to lack. He's God's Apology, across all the multiverse, and I am absolutely here for it.

okay, i'll give a little lore for each fic
Do I wanna Know? - Stripper!Eddie x Shy!Fem!Reader
I wrote this fic thinking it was going to be a two piece. I had it all figured out in my head, and then when I wrote it the words kept flowing. I also didn't think it would really catch people's attention, I just needed to write that idea in my head. I put a lot of self indulgent things in it, thoughts and mannerisms, so it was also a bit healing to write. It also brought me a lot of joy that people felt identified and that it helped them understand themselves or they felt seen through my fic and it felt like a warm hug.
2. Hooked on you - Hook!Eddie x Fem!Reader
This came to me in a vision after watching Peter Pan from 2001. But I am also a big fan of hidden messages through fantasy, or through fiction, like little riddles of hidden meanings behind the whole world one creates. For example, in my story, Neverland is a place of self acceptance, of saving, to those who are ready to leave way too early because of grief or a broken heart. I do have backstories for each character and if you read the story you know reader's, but safe to say, all of them, including the kids, suffered gravely. I also loved the mixture of fantasy and wanting to live in ignorance to one's depression and anxiety cause I think we can all kind of relate to that, even to this day. I started writing to escape reality, and reader here slipped into neverland in order to escape it.
3. The White Rabbit series, including Bunny, Bunny, Bunny and Run, Rabbit, Run. - Mafia!Eddie x Fem!Reader - Steddie x Fem!Reader
I wanted to expand my boundaries a bit. I always wanted to write a fic that didn't consist of love, only pure lust and desire, as well as dark romance features. This was literally all self indulgent, with things I've wanted to experiment writing, filled with explicit scenes and using words I never used before. It is just literal sex, but I am pretty proud of my detailing of scenes, of my smut scenes. I was always afraid of making smut scenes bland, the need for realism too great in my body lmao.
4. Please, Trust me. - Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
Oof. I really don't know how to word this right so bare with me. I wanted to show that some people that feel like suicide is the only way to be free, some embrace this possibility with open arms and with relief in their faces. Reader was ready to go. Through and through. She wasn't sad about it. She was excited for it. And it wasn't because she was 'crazy' or 'unstable'. She was perfectly conscious of her decision. I wanted people to see though, that there's always a purpose. That you just need to wait. And maybe that purpose comes with a person, and sometimes it doesn't. I wanted people to know that there's also hope. But my main purpose was to show that suicide doesn't always mean bad.
5. Baring Teeth - Non-Traditional Omegaverse, Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
My baby. Even if it's still on going, and my updates have stopped, I am still writing it. I am proud of this fic in particular because of the plot twists that I have in mind for the future of the fic. I am also proud to like, write something that people, that are not into Omegaverse, can read cause I slowly give hints of what it is, and descriptions as we go further into the story. It's not like I hit people with it without them knowing what it is. People that have never read any of the sort can easily read this and slowly get accustomed to what Omegaverse is.
This was hard. I honestly took a lot of time to think of what I was proud of LMAO

Doomed by the narrative is a popular, fun trope. It's what superhero movies are all about. If you take the average superhero you already probably would know how their story is, what tragic backstory they had, what events shaped their life, etc.
So what you'll see whenever there's a new story about them is those major backstory elements rehashed or subverted or played with or at least mentioned in some way. Because that's the story. That's the narrative. And the character is established by that narrative and therefore also doomed by it.
ATSV is no different. In fact it goes full meta with it. (There used to be a time when being meta was so cool until it was so goddamn overdone that it became stupid and you just want the earnestness of the pre-meta stories. You can only furiously 'wink wink' and violently*nudge nudge* the audience so much before you lose their interest. Anyway ATSV is fully earnest in it's meta that you don't even register it as being meta until you take a step back and look at the story being told. Like it's a proper metamodernist piece. Also I like how the two great examples of metamodernist media are both multiverse stories. The other being everything everywhere all at once, of course)
What the movie does differently is having how different people react to the 'Doomed by the Narrative trope’ be the forefront of the story. That is the story, actually. It also explores how valid everyone's reactions are. Even Miguel's (my hot take).
Like Peter B has lived as Spider-man long enough and has gone through most of the Spider-Man canon and was in a slump when we first met him. Like he even separated from MJ. But he rolls with it. Because that's just who he is. But now?
It was because of Miles Peter B got back into his groove and found his place again. It was essentially because of Miles he got back with MJ and had a baby and found stability in being himself.
'How do I know I'm ready, Miles?'
'You can't. It's a leap of faith.'
Miguel is angry but resigned because the one time he tried to defy the narrative it fucked everything up so bad. An entire universe was lost because of him. So now he’s doing what he genuinely believes is the right thing to do. He built the spider society to really make sure no one else can repeat his mistake and lose everything. Like what Peter Blond said in the first movie, 'because the only thing standing between this city and oblivion is me' except change 'city' to 'arachno-humanoid poly-multiverse'.
So of course he’s angry when Miles suggests that canon can be changed. That he can deny fate. Both because he’s convinced Miles is wrong and is going to get people killed and also if Miles is right than Miguel has to reckon with the fact that he’s convinced so many Spider-people to just adhere to the canon that had engulfed every aspect of his life now and let their loved ones die because he was convinced there was no fighting the narrative. That not everyone is as doomed as he is. Miles challenging that notion while there is concrete evidence of the notion being correct is cool af.
And Hobie, who probably knows he's doomed but has his own agenda for joining spider society. He's stealing knick knacks, building his own watch and shit. He might accept the narrative but he's not gonna live by it. If the narrative is gonna take him down he’s not going down limp. So of course when he sees Miles rebelling against the narrative he is fully on board. Miles exemplifies Hobie's traits. That is a proper punk.
And Gwen. My god. She escaped her narrative of being a dead spidey gf only to become a spidey trope herself. Seriously, an alternate universe gwen that doesn't die at the bell tower and instead is that universe's spider-woman? How cool is that? Oh wait. Your dad's gonna die and your Peter is also dead. Sorry. Haha.
Anyway, the movie opening with her and us seeing her current mental place was done so well. She misses Peter. She misses Miles. But both of these people aren't in her life anymore. Her dad hates who she is. She's depressed. But she's still spider-woman. And then the story happens and vulture and Miguel and then boom. Her father knows her identity. And essentially disowns her. She flees to the spider-verse. She can't go back home and she’s even more stressed out and angry when she learns that as Spider-Woman she's gonna lose her loved ones no matter what.
She lost Pete. And now she might lose her dad. So now she's in a limbo. By not going back home she is saving her father because he can't die unless she's there to not save him. The narrative will still eventually doom her. But she can put it off by having spider-people adventures and upholding the narrative that wants to doom her. Goddamn irony.
But she stops going along with it when she sees Miles' reaction to finding out he’s doomed. He doesn't give in to the narrative. He doesn't care about canon. He fights back. And that one little push gives her the spark to try and find out just how doomed she really is. And that ending scene when her dad stops being a police officer and really just becomes her dad. The doom lingering over her 'canon event' vanishes. He's no longer the capt stacey doomed to die in a spider story. He's a dad who's accepting his daughter wholly. I fucking love Gwen's whole arc in this movie.
And then there's Miles. Goddamn Miles, man. He was trying so hard to figure out what his narrative even is, but is determined that he can figure it out, that he can spread his wings and manage on his own and find his place and be himself.
Like, I would've written a paragraph dedicated to Pavitr on here but Miles already saved him from the narrative. Pavitr, my wholesome boy I hope you face no strife in life and everything goes absolutely splendid for you at all times my precious baby boy I love him.
Anyway, Miles finding out he's doomed? And how he finds out is from the people he thought would truly understand what he's about? And them not only accepting the fact that him (and all other spider-people) are doomed but going along with it? That has to be the biggest 'what the actual fuck' moment for him. It's so out of left field for him, understandably so. This whole building of heroes are all 'yeah. Peter from universe 573683 can't clock in today. He just lost his uncle' like that's such a fucked up concept that Miles will not even look at the reasoning Miguel or anyone else puts in front of him.
And this radical rejection is the best character take. I seriously seriously can't wait to see the next movie and see just how Miles deals with a narrative hellbent on dooming him. Spider society will be in shambles.
Obligatory 'Do it, Miles. Break the fucking canon.'

I had a dream where Disney was rebooting the Disney fairys brand but in this fictional dream world there were a few things different
Namely the overall plot of the tinkerbell movies were diffrent with diffrent charecters and stuff and not only was Disney doing a horrible cgi reboot BUT they were also doing a reboot/sequal which totally ruined the plotlines and charecter arcs they'd established!
Like there was one charecter who was established as Queen Clarion's successor and she had a whole background arc where tink had to teach her to be more confident and she had to learn to lead and the diffrence between blindly following queen Clarion and being her own fairy. There was a whole subplot in Secret of the Wings where she had to discover why winter was closed off from the rest of pixy hollow and she helped tink go find Perywinkle it was a whole thing. She didn't show up much in pirate fairy but she had a subplot in the neverbeast but I don't rember what it was
Anyways the dream only included the horrible ad for the new movie (again awful cgi/live action reboot) BUT THEY REMOVERD QUEEN CLARION'S SUCESSOR like she didn't exist at all!! And they were showing off Tink as this Post Peter Pan sad figure who was destined to take the throne after queen clarion. Like that had been her role all along. They framed her adventure with Peter as "running away from responsibility" and it was soposed to be like this whole thing where they revealed the Secret Backstory of Tink but... and I cannot stress this enough... they were ignoring all the lore they'd done already
Like I know this is all a dream and I only got to see the ad and the basic plot overview and none of the movies in my dream are the same as the real life ones but it's just.... so in charecter for Disney that I was fully ready to beleve it when I woke up.
Im very tempted to make a parody video essay where I'm like "this is how Disney is running the tinkerbell franchise" but the plot twist is that it's exclusively about the version of tinkerbell who exists in my dream.

another update on my magnus archives journey i have just reached the beginning of season for and i am ready for this to take a 100% homoerotic turn.
i actually don’t know if that’s the case because the season 3 q+a had one mention or martins crush and jonny either glazed over that or was very very wrapped up in his answer regarding the question the crush was tied into. either way i’m just hoping they’re in love and i sleep peacefully for one night but pinterest has let me know this is not the case.
tim is also dead hello? i thought with the amount of fans he had surrounding him and the way he was portrayed in fan art he was like this goofy go-round white boy but he was just out for revenge and because of his brother and a kind of a prick?? don’t get me wrong i think he is definitely, or ig was, the most sensible but i was really led to believe by fanart he was a different person entirely.
and micheal!! my poor baby, not true he’s kinda bad but i loved his character and there was just so much more i feel like they could have done with his character. but i think that’s something that happened when you have planned all the way until season 5 what you want to do with the story i just can’t believe that’s that you know. i loved how his voice sounded and his personality and i think that him trying to kill the archivist like that was kind of far fetched for his character. it all seemed to fast to me and i really miss him.
then there’s elias, i love you you evil bastard. i really hope his backstory and reasoning for why he is what he is is just for shits and gigs, like bro got high one day and just happened to find this place that served the eye. i love just evil characters or opportunistic villains bc they just do what suits their needs and i feel like elias’ roll really fits that vibe. also i cannot figure out how old he is in my head, maybe like a doctor strange type of silver fox.

Morgana and Morgie lore part 1 (My AU)
Note: This is mainly my dumb attempt to have Harry's gay dads fit in canon
Okay so according to the canon information we have... Morgana in the descendants universe would be nothing but an abusive parent so, I decided for my AU to crank that up. But I am also using lore about Morgana outside of just the Descendants universe to make Harry's family more interesting. For those of you who don't know Morgana is Arthur Pendragon's half-sister (same mother). And yes I am aware that this messes up the timeline a bit but I am excusing this with how sorcerers usually doesn't age, as evidence by Merlin as well as Bhaltazar Blake from the movie sorcerer's apprentice.
This gives Morgie a royal bloodline even if his mother is probably illegitimate considering her brother became king when he seems to be a lot younger than her. Or it simple wasn't allowed for girls to inherit the throne but I am leaning more towards her parentage being the reason she wasn't made queen of Camelot rather then her gender.
Being an illegitimate princess but hoping to find a way to get back at both her family and Merlin she was ready to try any means necessary to get closer to them again. So she had Morgie and tried to raise him to be the perfect prince, warrior and sorcerer that would one day take back the crown of Camelot in her name.
However when Morgie struggles with learning magic (as evidence by the fact he uses almost none of it during Rise or Red) Morgana starts taking her training to extreme measures to the point where she hurts her son both physically and emotionally.
Morgie excuses most of this and just tells himself that things will get better once he becomes Camelot's new king.
However when he starts attending Merlin academy Merlin quickly takes him under his wing, trying to steer him away from the dark path his mother is leading him onto.
This is somewhat sabotaged when Uliana recruits Morgie to her gang and he sees this powerful seawitch with a fierce reputation who also might be able to help him and his mother as long as he stays in her lane.
He then meets James and while he tries to hide it he finds this young pirate very, VERY handsome.
With his mother telling him he will marry the first princess she picks for him to strengthen his claim to Camelot's throne Morgie never thought much about finding true love.
James however has no problem with flirting with both Morgie and anyone he decides is attractive.
Hades grows tired of this bullshit and sets Morgie and James up.
James is scared of committing to a long lasting relationship due to his own angsty backstory (that I'll get to in another post).
Morgie at first tries to push down his feelings but eventually it all becomes too much, the constant pressure and abuse from his mother, Merlin pestering him about the importance of being good, with James it's different... he never has to pretend that he is something he's not with him.
This newfound slight freedom from everything allows him to relax and explore himself with James, and with this his magic too grows stronger.
James tells him the tales of Neverland, Pixie hollow and of course Peter Pan, how he plans to take revenge for all the pain that brat caused him.
Morgie dares to imagine a future that doesn't end with him conquering Camelot. A future with James and him living together in Neverland, never aging, never having to worry about his mother ever again. Just him and James, together forever. But as we all know it didn't quite turn out like that Keep a lookout for part 2

Aurora, Pt. 3
All space-suited out and ready to go, the team are beamed on board the Ancient warship. The last time McKay was wearing one of these suits, he had been fixing the Ancient satellite without a tether and had been forced to watch Peter Grodin blow up with the platform in The Siege (S01E19). Note that it is McKay's flashlight that we see illuminating Sheppard's face as he turns back to talk to them, letting us know where McKay's attention is focused. He is much more interested in seeing Sheppard's face when he is talking than he is looking around a 10,000 year old Ancient ship.

Sheppard: Should be just outside the Bridge. Dex: You mean what used to be the Bridge.
While the ship looks long abandoned, the team are cautious in their approach, weapons at the ready. But note that unlike in the previous episode, now that Sheppard is once more in charge, McKay does not have a P-90 on him, equipped only with his hand gun. This seems to confirm that Sheppard does not want McKay to have to use one. The hand gun is for his personal protection but Sheppard is trying to spare McKay from actually having to kill anyone by keeping him from the more efficient weapons. McKay seems to be dragging some kind of a trolley behind him instead, probably containing equipment.

Teyla: Colonel Sheppard?
Teyla is the first one to notice the people in the pods, ever interested in people more than technology. They do not know what they are looking for, exactly, having come here just to "check it out," but it seems that they found something. But where Teyla is the first to notice the pods, Sheppard and McKay are both drawn directly to the pod of the ship's Captain and given that these are living Ancients, it is entirely possible that both of them are drawn to him via the Ancient gene. Regardless, they both go around Teyla and once more stand with their bodies angled toward each other, drawn to each other at least as much as they may have been drawn to this man.

McKay: Stasis pods. They're still powered up. Dex: Stasis? Teyla: We found a similar pod in Atlantis. It keeps a person alive for many years in a type of frozen hibernation. Dex: If you call that living.
Note the fact that Sheppard and McKay's movements are once more synchronized. McKay both says the word "up" and looks up, and Sheppard looks up at the same time and it is likely that Sheppard could not even really see the movement of McKay's head inside his helmet. They are just extremely attuned to each other.
Teyla mentions the stasis pod they had discovered at the beginning of Before I Sleep (S01E15) that had contained the time traveling body of Elizabeth Weir. Relevant for this episode is the fact that they had initially thought it to contain one of the Ancients, and McKay made a mention of not wanting to let the chance to talk to "a living, breathing Ancient slip through our fingers," which is a sentiment that he repeats in this episode. Furthermore, he had said these words with a bit of an attitude toward Sheppard, still feeling sore about what had happened with Sheppard and the Ancient woman that had tried to seduce him in the previous episode The Sanctuary (S01E14). And in this episode we can see that McKay is still, to this very day, feeling some kind of way about the whole Chaya thing, which is perfectly normal heterosexual behaviour.

McKay: This one's uniform is different from the others. Maybe the Captain? Sheppard: Or his maitre d'.
McKay also seems to have a real keen eye for fashion. Sheppard's comment is also interesting. Firstly, his reference to the Maître d', often found in fancier restaurants may betray his social class, as they seem have started coming up with his backstory in more detail around this time. Maître d' is the headwaiter, so you might assume that he is making a reference to the Captain's second-in-command, his lieutenant. However, there is a rank called "Captain" in waiting staff hierarchy in which Captain is subservient to the Maître d'. The Maître d' is responsible for the whole establishment where the Captain is in charge of several tables within the Maître d's domain. In this sense, Sheppard might be making a reference to someone above the Captain, like an admiral.
The meaning of "Captain" is different in the Air Force as compared with common parlance, which is complicated by the fact that the Navy also uses the term differently, their Captains corresponding with Colonels of the Air Force. Where Caldwell is an Air Force Colonel, the space fleet, even though it would have been under the USAF at this time (USSF is still technically a part of the Air Force), the Earth Vessels seem to use a mixture of Air Force ("Move, Airman!") and Navy designations ("Helm, alter heading to intercept"). So if the Ancients' fleet was arranged like the Navy, you might expect a Captain to be in charge (or a Commodore, Rear Admiral). If it was arranged like the Air Force, they would be a Colonel but most definitely would not be a Captain, which is a rank below Major. Point is, Sheppard may be poking fun at McKay's use of the title (given his feelings toward McKay using titles with him in the first place), or making fun of the utter clusterfudge that is space fleet hierarchy.
However, it is interesting that he makes a reference to wait staff. Earlier, we saw him eating a power bar because he had skipped lunch and at the end of the previous episode, he was certainly dressed in the way that one might dress to have dinner. We also saw McKay dressed for dinner in Duet (S02E04), so while he would likely not have quite as many layers of clothes for a dinner date with Sheppard, we do know that he has fancier civilian clothes that can be used for such purposes. So Sheppard might be making an "inside" reference here, something just the two of them would get because they have recently had a dinner date (perhaps in one of their quarters, as seems to be the thing to do on Atlantis based on Duet) and one of them had made a reference or a joke about Maître d's during such a date. It certainly does not mean anything at all to Teyla and Ronon, so what ever his intention, Sheppard meant to say this to McKay, expecting McKay to get what ever he was referring to.

McKay: Life sign indicators are active. These capsules must have some kind of a shielding. That's why the Daedalus' sensors were unable to pick them up. Teyla: Look at all of them!
Take a note at what happens here. McKay mentions the life sign indicators, having one of the life signs monitors in his hand. Sheppard bends over toward McKay as though to take a look at the readings but then probably realizes that he can't see them or make heads or tails of them anyway. Instead, he lifts his eyes and looks at McKay's face. Then McKay again lifts his head to look at the pods above them and Sheppard again follows the direction of his gaze, only he does it suddenly, as though he had just caught himself doing something he was not supposed to be doing. He then actually looks down and frowns, seeming confused by his own actions. What is he even doing? That man is in a space suit, why does he seem turned on here?

Sheppard: That's just on this deck. Who knows how many more there are on the rest of the ship? Look, our time in these suits is limited. Can you get life support up and running? McKay: I'm on it.
Now, I'm not saying that Sheppard is feeling hot but he sure does seem to want to get out of that suit as quickly as possible. But what he says here is important for later. Sheppard trusts McKay with his life. And not just with his own life but with all of their lives. He trusts that McKay will be able to get them life-support running by fixing what ever is wrong with the ancient Ancient ship. He not only trusts that McKay will be able to do this, he expects him to be able to do it. And McKay is only too happy to oblige.
Also note the fact that the previous time McKay had been in one of the suits, he had been concerned about air running out and had wanted to know how long he could breathe in one of them anyway. Peter Grodin had to calm him down because he seemed to be close to hyperventilating, nervous and anxious. And here, with Sheppard, it seems like he had not once even thought about their limited air supply or how much time they have. He too trusts Sheppard with his life and he seems to feel like when he is with Sheppard, he does not have to worry. He has nothing to worry about. Sheppard is "the worrier," which seems to make McKay a hell of a lot less anxious than he is with other people. Sheppard has a notable calming influence on him.

Caldwell: They're all alive? The entire crew? Sheppard: Well, they're in a kind of suspended animation. McKay: Not entirely suspended, however. The pod has slowed their aging considerably but the bodies are virtually moribund.*
Sheppard and McKay have stripped out of their space suits and are in radio contact with the Daedalus, explaining the situation to Caldwell. Note that Sheppard and McKay are here by themselves as Sheppard had sent Teyla and Ronon to check out the rest of the ship. Note also that while McKay is clearly the expert, it is Sheppard that has contacted Caldwell and it is Sheppard that is explaining things to him. McKay pipes in to clarify but clearly Sheppard understands what is going on well enough to once more be able to translate McKay to a third party. Still by the body of the Captain or his Maître d', McKay has hooked his device up into their system and sits down to fiddle with it, and of course Sheppard has to step closer to him. By the sounds of it, Sheppard had been on an upper level and had just come down the ladder so of course he had missed McKay while he had been away.

Sheppard: Teyla and Ronon are searching the rest of the ship. My guess is there's hundreds. Caldwell: Is there anything we can do for them? McKay: Well, reviving them is out of the question. Look, the pods are the only thing keeping them alive.
Sheppard seems to feel the need to touch something to keep himself occupied while in contact with Caldwell, fiddling with something we cannot see below the frame, probably one of the pods. Earlier, we saw Sheppard wipe some of the condensation off of the pod of the Captain to better see his face, and none of them seem to quite know what to make of all of this. These are living beings, and they wish they could do something for them but it does not seem like there is much to do. They had both watched the older Weir expire, they know what to expect.

Sheppard: What are we gonna do with them, then? McKay: Wait. Sheppard: What? McKay: There's something going on!
Although they are still very much in contact with Caldwell, Sheppard does not ask the question of him. He speaks the question to McKay, which we can tell by the soft tone he uses and the fact that he looks at McKay when he says it, as well as his use of the "we" form. The tone he uses here is much closer to what we heard them use when it was just the two of them at Sheppard's door in Trinity (S02E06).
And what is significant here is that Sheppard is not asking McKay to explain anything to him here, he is not asking for his technical expertise. He is asking McKay's opinion on what they should do, he is asking for McKay's advice on a question that is more ethical than it is technical. He wants to know what McKay thinks the right thing to do is. He is not speaking to McKay as his leader but as his partner, even with Caldwell on the line with them. And also, while he is quick to ask what (is wrong) just as soon as McKay makes a sound indicating that there is something strange going on, his response is more relaxed than it would have been maybe even a week before. He does not switch to a new level of DEFCON immediately, but he does step closer to McKay because he wants to know what's wrong and how he can help make it better.

McKay: This pod is magnetically shielded. I'm reading cortical signals! Sheppard: Which means...? McKay: The pod's equipped with a neural interface. It's indicating definite brain activity, as though they were perfectly conscious.
Sheppard steps even closer to McKay, to be able to look at his screen like the readings there might mean something to him. He seems to have enough trouble following the things McKay is saying so what ever readings McKay has open there are probably not something that he needs to see, and he definitely does not need to be that close to him for this conversation. Also note the fact that McKay turns to look Sheppard in the eye after his explanation, seemingly to communicate his excitement over this discovery. And they again move in perfect sync, both lifting their heads at the same time.

McKay: If all of these pods are interconnected, it's highly possible these people are, in fact, communicating with each other. Caldwell: This has been going on for ten thousand years? McKay: Possibly. It was a way of keeping their minds occupied until they were rescued.
McKay mentions interconnection and communication, he speaks the words "each other," ans suddenly he is looking at Sheppard and Sheppard is looking at him. They are looking at each other, gazing into each other's eyes. The camera cuts away to Caldwell, and then we hear McKay answer Caldwell but we do not get to see McKay and Sheppard, the camera stays away from them for the time that what ever moment they were having passes. Maybe they just had a moment in which some of that wordless communication took place between them. Note also that as McKay has been gesturing with his hand the whole time, his hand stops in mid-air here as he is suspended in the moment. As though he wanted to touch and then had to remind himself to put the hand down.

Sheppard: That is one long conversation. McKay: Yeah, well, more likely the interface was reactivated when the recall beacon from Atlantis was received. Either way, the neural feedback loop is incredibly active.
Sheppard says "That is one long conversation" in the tone that suggests that he would get terribly bored talking for that long but that reaction is entirely feigned. Having a ten thousand year long conversation with someone that will never leave his side is his heart's deepest desire. He can think of nothing better than having an unending conversation with someone without fear that they will leave him. That is why he never says good-bye, even on the phone. That is why he never says hello to McKay. The two of them have been having one long conversation from the moment that they met and where Sheppard has asked McKay not to talk and has even told him to shut up (once, to be able to concentrate, not really meaning it), theirs is a conversation that is only ever on pause and otherwise always picks up where they left off. That is one long conversation, he says. He thinks, can we have one?
Also, Sheppard's eyes were definitely on McKay's posterior for a moment there. There is no one to see him look, not even McKay as he is bending down in front of him, so where is the harm? He actually has to force his eyes up from there.

Sheppard: Any way to figure out what they're saying? McKay: Yes, of course! It says right here: “Why is the smart one having to stop and answer so many questions?”
So, let us start with the fact that McKay called Sheppard clever before they left. McKay does not think that Sheppard is stupid and he never has. Calling himself "the smart one" here does not mean that he does not think that Sheppard is smart. But he does manage to hurt Sheppard's feelings because Sheppard feels inadequate on the intelligence department as compared to McKay already anyway. He fears that McKay thinks he is dumb and so these kinds of swipes at his perceived lack of intelligence get to him. He looks away, sighs, even worries his lip in that self-soothing mannerism of his. So what is up with McKay? Why is he irritable all of a sudden? It very much appeared that his mood had changed unprompted. Based on what he says next, the data he was looking at, the neural feedback loop seemed to remind him of something very specific.

Note that Sheppard's reaction here is also pretty much the same as it was the last time that McKay reminded him of their failure to talk to a living ancient to hear what they think about things. It is Chaya. Sheppard reminded McKay of the Chaya-situation and he is extra testy about it because, as we will later learn, Sheppard seems to have told McKay about the whole kissing Teyla incident. Maybe McKay could forgive him knowing it had happened under very strange circumstances, but he most definitely has issues when it comes to Sheppard and women. And his issues are just spilling out full force here.

Caldwell: It's a fair question, Doctor. McKay: Of course it is! Being able to communicate with a living Ancient is the opportunity of a lifetime, but this system is a highly complex system which I will have... Wait a minute. Sheppard: What? McKay: Answering your question.
So, first things first: McKay has to admit himself that the question was not a stupid question but extremely relevant. Caldwell unwittingly ended up refereeing something that he has no way of understanding, and it is not entirely certain that Sheppard understands what McKay is on about until he speaks the words "living Ancient," which immediately tells him what this is. Talking to a living, breathing Ancient. Got it. But the way McKay says "Of course it is!" is using the same tone that he told Beckett "Of course he is!" when the doctor had begged him to choose Sheppard to help him with the control chair, telling McKay that "Major Sheppard is your man". Of course he is. Of course it is a good question, Sheppard is an astute man, Sheppard is the man that he loves and admires most of anyone. Had it not been for the freshness of the Teyla thing, he may have been able to be the bigger man and let it go.
And note that he arrives at Teyla here suddenly, and it is not a coincidence. McKay has an idiosyncratic way of associating things but there is an internal logic to it. He suddenly realizes that he can contact Teyla to get the information he needs because his whole upset had been triggered by what he had learned about Sheppard kissing Teyla reminding him of what had happened with Chaya, where kissing Chaya had also been something that Sheppard had also very clearly full on confessed to McKay between Sanctuary (S01E14) and Before I Sleep (S01E15). And they will return to this topic later on in the episode again because while Sheppard has come clean and McKay is trying to deal with it, he can be a petty, petty man sometimes. McKay does not know that Sheppard only asked the question in the first place to distract himself from looking at his ass while they are on a call with his superior officer.

McKay: Teyla. Found any more of the pods? Teyla: Yes, many, and there are many more decks we have yet to search. McKay: Are any of the pods empty? Teyla: A few. McKay: Perfect.
We see Sheppard lift his brow here, right at the end, which is something that he seems to do when he is communicating the fact that he is sharing a thought with someone and that thought is impish. Sheppard is a clever man and he seemed to get what McKay was going for immediately. But there seems to be a lot happening on Sheppard's face while he is trying to pretend that everything is fine and dandy. Yes, McKay's comment upset him. Yes, he is feeling guilty where he does not think that McKay blaming him for what happened with Teyla or with Chaya is entirely deserved. It is not as though he had planned or wanted to do either thing. Both of them have way too good memories and abilities for recollection to let bygones be bygones, and it is digging up old hurts like this out of nowhere that just lets us in on how much of a couple they are. If they are not... involved, what possible reason would there be for McKay to dig up things that happened a year ago that had not been any of his business even then? Because it was. It was his business then and it is his businesss now.

This is certainly where Sheppard seems to be as a result of the previous episode. A new heaven shines upon a new earth. Although McKay certainly seems to have brought some of the dirt of the old earth with him.

I just woke up and watched the episode. Here are my few cents:
- give the casting director a raise because that kid was sooooo similar to Peter
-I’ve been longing for some Bobby’s backstory but I didn’t think we would have gotten something so tragic, this feels like the start of a relapse and I’m not ready for it. Now I want to know more about his brother
-Bobby and Amir boulder scene was beautiful but at the same time I don’t know how I feel about this whole cartel trope. I really hope this doesn’t come back in any way. Yes, the parallel of Bobby now saving Amir’s life was nice but I feel they could have taken a different way with it. Yeah Tim loves his drama but… was that really necessary? I guess we’ll never know
