#not my best written english but it’ll have to do
Note
Hi, how you doing, luv? I saw your requests were open so here I am!
I told this idea to a friend and we liked it so much I needed to see it written, and I love how you write Arthur!
I don't usually request/like low honor Arthur but hear me out! Low honor Arthur with a female reader and he's user her as his alibi whenever he goes on a killing spree. But she happily applies, smiling at the officers when she gets questioned like "it ain't him officer. how do I know that, you say? he was with me the whole time🤭" while Arthur quietly cleans the blood splatters off his guns
Samy!! Here it is!! I really hope you'll like it😭 Also, hell yes, what an ask! Loved writing it. Makes me want to write more Low!Honor. And ngggh the best compliment ever telling me you love how I write him I can't

Therefore, MDNI, please! ✦ Words: 1,8k ✦ a/n: Okay so, this is my first attempt ever at a Low Honnor Arthur. I guess I just made him bolder, extra cocky+extra flirty? Hope it’ll fit! ALSO, as always, English isn't my first language, I'm sorry if anything sounds weird. Please if you notice any mistakes, reach up to me! ✦Credits. First pic is from Reddeadcomfort on Pinterest, gun pic from Pinterest too. Second one from my playthrough; blood stains and dividers by me.

Arthur’s violence wasn’t a secret to anyone. Not to anybody in camp, not to you, certainly not to himself.
Not even to numerous people at this point, considering the large number of poor fellas who had the bad luck to cross him and ended up beaten to a pulp, covered in bruises, head in a drinking trough, riddled with bullets, or even worse.
But you loved him, no matter what. You knew about his flaws. Knew about his brutal, crude side. But around you, this heated aura was turning into something else entirely. And you liked it.
So, when a panting Arthur had rushed to you on the porch of Strawberry’s hotel, blood covering his entire self, face and hair included, blue eyes shining sapphires in a tide of rubies, you weren’t that surprised. You were even less when he asked you to be his alibi for whatever the Hell he just did, as he had taken the habit of doing lately. Lying for Arthur’s crimes could have looked like an immoral thing to do, but as a member of the gang too, you clearly weren’t a saint either.
And you really were enjoying this little game.
The subtle grin Arthur had every time you would lie in front of the police for him, asserting with absolute conviction you had been together all day. The rosy tone his cheeks, ears and neck were displaying when you felt bolder and added some details in your alibis. Details about fake, steamy nights or afternoons you were supposed to have shared, swearing to the Lord you had the unholiest of times together. Oh, the look he was giving you. Knowing, amused, dreamy and so, so proud and debauched. Lustful, even.
You were sure he was enjoying it too.
“Alright, I’ll cover for you again. But at least go take a bath, I can’t do miracles.” You ordered him, a devilish smile on your face.
“Thank you, sugar.” Arthur quickly answered, his voice just a low, breathless mumbling, barely letting you distinguish his words.
He quickly entered the hotel and you heard the receptionist gasp from where you were. You chuckled to yourself, imagining his outraged face rapidly losing all its composure under Arthur’s hard gaze piercing through the layer of blood, ordering him to prepare a bath as gently as if he was doing a hold-up.
Poor man must have liquefied on the spot.
You leaned against the patio’s fence and breathed in the fresh late afternoon air of Strawberry, alpenglow golden and rosy on top of the mountains, a peaceful scenery under your eyes. Contrasting with the horror and brutality Arthur must have left in his trail.
He was quick to join you again, looking fresh and neat as if he were a completely normal gentleman. His messy hair and dirty beard long gone, a nice black shirt, shiny boots, and a scout jacket on, probably to match Strawberry people's clothes.
The only things that hadn't benefited from a change were his eternal Gambler hat and his holster and revolvers, both still painted with blood stains, a red and morbid Appaloosa coat on shiny metal.
“Policemen won’t be too long to arrive. ‘Hid my face but they chased me down all the way from Flatneck Station.” He informed you, voice calmer and shoulders less tensed.
“What the Hell were you doing there?”
“Robbin’ a train.” He replied with a cocky grin, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“More like slaughterin’ a train, uh?”
“Smart mouth.” He retorted, amused by your remark. “Too many of ‘em bastards had irritated me.”
“And how much did you get exactly?”
“Seven hundred.” His smirk widened as he patted his satchel, which was probably full of stolen money.
“Damn, Arthur! All by yourself? You never cease to impress me.”
His eyes wrinkled in a genuine smile, a rare sight. He didn’t add anything, silence enveloping both of you, as often in his company. But you knew he had loved your praise.
Arthur casually sat on one of the chairs behind you, legs open to be more comfortable, and took his guns out of his holster, as relaxed as if he had sat to draw in his journal.
He knew the Law had absolutely no proof against him, and that you were charming enough to lead them up the garden path as easily as if they were children.
As he had planned, two terribly worn-out lawmen arrived, clothes soiled and face tired. It looked like they didn’t have the time to take a good bath contrary to your companion, probably interrogating the whole town before arriving here. One of them, the shorter of the two, climbed up the wooden stair treads and spoke.
“Sir, Missus. We’re searching for a dangerous criminal. He has been described by several witnesses as a tall man with broad shoulders, brown hair, blue eyes, and a black leathered hat…” His words slowed down and turned into a whisper at the end of his sentence, lost in the air, as his gaze landed on Arthur. His eyes narrowed realizing he matched the description perfectly.
“Oh, I’m really sorry, officer, we haven’t seen anyone like this…” You said with your most angelic smile, your body turning politely from the fence to face the policeman.
You were now standing right next to Arthur who didn’t look bothered at all.
All the contrary, he had given a simple salute by nodding his head to the man, the tip of his hat shaking nonchalantly in his direction, and had begun cleaning his guns, blood visible like porcelain dipped in a vibrant red paint.
The officer frowned, clearly not convinced.
“You, where were you-
“Him? He was with me all day officer."
He does not believe you. Yet. You took his arched eyebrow as a personal invitation to give him a good show:
"To tell you the truth, we’re on our honeymoon here, so we took the time to enjoy our day together…”
While speaking, you put a hand on Arthur’s shoulder, to emphasize your words, to look convincing. But you would have lied to yourself telling you weren’t appreciating this, fingers caressing his muscles through the thick jacket, traveling innocently to his neck where you brushed the base of his hair, just underneath his hat, pampering him as if he was a cat.
And Arthur? He had the biggest shit-eating grin you've ever seen on his face. He loved it, the pure audacity of it all, your teasing touch on the back of his head, his own hands busy with his guns, oil and piece of fabric wiping the fresh remnants from his killing spree of a few hours ago, in the most carefree way possible, all of it under the Law’s nose.
A rush of adrenaline spread through him, tingling and warming his body. He tried to fight his own blood from gathering more and more between his legs, but after all, looking all giddy would just make it all more convincing, right?
“But this man really looks like…” The policeman tried to object, before being cut by you once again.
“Officer, I assure you we was here all day…” You asserted, honeyed voice soft to the ears, eyes as innocent as a dove.
“Oh, except for this morning though, we was out. We tried this really special spot, you know? The one in the mountains, where you can bathe in these hot springs… We had a good time there, didn’t we, honey?” You fibbed with perfection, adding even more details to your tapestry of lies.
The hand you had on Arthur slowly pushed his head against your chest, his face ending up cheek against your cleavage. His devilish smirk almost cracked from widening, and the tip of his ears got all red and hot. You could feel it against your skin, both of you relishing in your juvenile, corny lovers play.
Inside, he felt like he was on top of the World right now.
“Yes baby, ‘t was definitely a good time…” Arthur agreed, playful eyes adverting from his revolvers to look at yours from down there, his slightly crooked teeth visible through his gigantic grin.
“A-arlight, I erm…” The lawman coughed, visibly uncomfortable because of your behavior and finally convinced by your pretty little speech. “I’ll leave you to… To "it" then. Good evening Sir, Ma’am.”
He walked back to his colleague who had smoked a cigarette while waiting for him. Arthur and you kept on playing your naive role until both of them were far enough, the last echo of their conversation sounding exceedingly comical into your ears:
“Shit, we lost this asshole…”
“Told you this couldn’t be him. Who would be stupid enough to strut around right next to the sheriff’s office?”
Yeah, who would be, uh?
You giggled a bit, eyes still locked on the stupid man in question. He hadn’t stopped smiling the whole time, a low chuckle shaking his chest, joining yours.
“This was a close one. You’re getting more and more reckless…” You warned him gently, hand still wrapped around his head.
“But you, on the other hand, are a brilliant actor, darlin’.” He added, his deep voice showing a hint of amusement and mischief. “And you're getting bolder too. A honeymoon, really?”
“The damn bastard wouldn't let it go…” You shrugged with an innocent smile.
It looks like he was comfortable like this because he wasn’t making any effort to pull away from your soft flesh. All the contrary, a sneaky arm curled up around your waist, pushing you onto his lap, his guns and the piece of fabric ending up on top of your thighs.
“Ya know, alibis are fun an’ all but… Maybe we could have a good time for real, sometimes.” He whispered in your ear, big hands handling you gently, one resting on your legs, the other holding your back.
“Yeah? You tired of lying, Arthur?”
“Am tired of doin’ nothin’ while havin’ the most gorgeous woman in town pretendin’ to be my wife…” His thumb slowly strokes your thighs while answering in a low, passionate tone.
This wasn’t just pretty lies anymore. His voice wasn’t joking, it was filled with desire; his hands warm and demanding on your body.
“Mmh… I see… Maybe we could actually book a room here for the night then…” You answered in the same quiet register, betraying your own needs.
One of your hands grabbed his guns, the other the blackened piece of fabric damped with oil, and you finished cleaning up his revolvers for him, fingers delicate and attentive.
His eyes are locked on your hands and their movement, completely hypnotized by them, his ears turning entirely red, this sanguine color spreading less and less subtly on his face and chest too.
You can't help but notice the hardness growing between his legs, pressing under your body.
And he can't wait for the moment when this won’t be the barrel of his gun you'd be holding and caressing between your hands…
“Sounds pretty good to me, “Missus Morgan”.”

“You might need to sit down for this.”
“Why?”
I’d always visited Neteyam since the night he’d passed. I’d often done so on my free time late at night when everyone else was asleep and wouldn’t reprimand me for going without a diving partner- I just didn’t want anyone asking invasive questions about my visits. He had a habit of being in the forest, the humid environment not really being one I cared for, but never said anything because I knew it brought him comfort.
“You remember the two tawtute who came to live with my family?” He asks me although I’m sure he knew the answer.
“Yes.” I stated curtly.
Toruk Makto had to plead his case for them to be taken in under his wing. Everyone hates the two tawtute being a part of the clan, yet somehow they managed to get my sister and Rotxo to like them. The boy seems to have a thing for the forest girl- Kiri- and for some reason I believe Rotxo might like the girls company too much. The thought of them staying here made me shiver.
“I’ve been keeping a secret from you about Y/n.” He stated and I’d just made a confused face. He smiles and shakes his head to himself.
“The girl, Y/n, thats her name. You should use it to address her from now on.”
“Why?” I asked again, wondering where this conversation was headed
“Well-“
He seemed too nervous for my liking and all I wanted to know was what he was hiding. He never hid much from me since I apologized to him for how I’d acted throughout the time they spent with us. I’d taken it upon myself to ask Lo’ak and Kiri for forgiveness for my actions in the past as well.
“Spit it out.” I stated firmly as I continued standing and crossed my arms across my chest as I waited for him to find the courage to tell me what he needed to.
“I have chosen her as your mate.”
I could only tilt my head as I look at his face and let out a small laugh.
“Neteyam-“
“I’m serious.”
“No you aren’t.” I stated firmly and could felt uneasy, my knee’s felt weak and I knew I had to sit down, but I wanted to remain standing to appear unbothered. But he could read me like a book.
“Eywa stated that she needed my help with- with your temper- and trust me it’s a lot.” He stops looking at me and turns around. “She said she needed someone who would tame that side of you and the only person I could think of was Y/n.”
“What?” I asked loudly, not registering I’d basically yelled at him.
“She’ll be a guarded at first, she’s sassy when she needs to be, but she’s a sweet heart under it all.”
“Neteyam-“ I try cutting him off as my mind starts going through this process quickly, I’m unable to think, and I suddenly feel dizzy, maybe I should sit down.
“Trust me when I say this is the best outcome for you and she needs someone like you in her life-“
“Neteyam!” I yell his name to get him to stop rambling and a look of disbelief washes over my features as I look at him. There was no way Eywa would have accepted this- my mother surely wouldn’t, she despised the tawtute, voiced her opinion loudly to my father, but he ignored her and let them stay.
“How do you even know all of this?” I asked again once He’d stopped talking and thats when his face changes to one I’ve never seen before, one that mimics a child begging for forgiveness before they explain what they did.
“Before I died…” He stops and finds the courage to look up at me again, his yellow eyes meeting mine, he sighs before beginning again.
“Before I died, we were courting. She is captivating in every way possible, a wonderful person-“
“What?” I asked in disbelief at this revelation as he’d never shared with any of us- at least to my knowledge- about his love life.
“A Na’Vi and a Tawtute?” I asked aloud again.
“My mother was against it, yours will be too-“
“No.” I cut him off again, I understood how rude I was being but there was no way I could allow myself to be mated to a tawtute.
“Tawtute cannot mate with us. They can’t form a bond, they can’t experience Eywa like we can, they can’t have our children, and I heard they die quickly.”
“It’ll be a tight fit but it works. They can’t bond the way we can but you could mark her. She’s a sensitive person already and I have seen her face- in awe- at every celebration. You can have children together if you’re fated mates and once you actually mate with her for the first time, Eywa said her age would become compatible to yours. I’m not sure how but-“
“No, Neteyam. No!” I yelled again. “This is crazy, I refuse to allow this to happen. I’m done here.”
Before he could explain any further I’d yanked my kuru from the spirit tree thus breaking my connection with Neteyam. The trip back home was a blur as all I could think of was everything he’d told me.
I decided to put a stop to the nightly visits to the Spirit tree and kept a distance from it in fear that he’d tell me this was something I had to do. I was already under my parents intense instructions as to how I need to live my life to take over once my father passes, I didn’t need another person telling me what I needed to do with my life.
I’d purposely avoided hanging out with the group knowing the tawtute would be there, I didn’t need to be reminded of everything Neteyam said, but that avoidance lasted too little for my liking, cutting myself off from them meant cutting my social circle completely, I had nobody to talk to and couldn’t bring myself to stay busy the entire day.
Two weeks seemed to be my limit.
_________
I’d always been nervous to join the group of friends that Lo’ak and Kiri had made. Spider had no problem fitting in, but he was always down for whatever, plus he had no shame in anything. But the one who I disliked having any interaction with, was the bully. Kiri didn’t hesitate to fill me in on everything he’d put them through- including his apology to them, but I still disliked him.
Upon walking up to the group I typically nervously hid behind Kiri or Spider, or even Tuk since she was taller than me, but I’d spaced out on the way over and didn’t have time to do so.
“Hey Y/n,” Rotxo saves the day by noticing me and sweetly getting my attention. I smile back at him and give a shy wave, I could feel the scrutiny of Ao’nungs judgmental stare and chose to ignore him.
“Hi,” I stated shyly at the teal man who’d greeted me first. Rotxo had a pretty cool tattoo covering his shoulder down his bicep, it was a tribute to his iknimaya, and his tulkun brother has a similar one- or so he stated.
“My favorite tawtute!” Tsireya smiles toward me and I return one just like it.
“Does this mean I’m your second favorite?” Spider teases and I pick up Kiri’s light giggle as she elbows my brother in the ribs. Apart from Jake, who appeared -and earned his title- as a Na’Vi, Spider and myself were the only tawtute Tsireya knew. Sure she’d seen Max and Norm, but she’d never hung out with them like she does with us, and she’d only seen them once.
I only turned to look at Spider and rolled my eyes, he was a skxawng, always getting too comfortable with speaking in Na’Vi and never thinking about what he says. Yet I followed behind him as the giggle rips through my own mouth as well the more I thought about his comment.
“That still makes you the least favorite human.” I responded as he playfully pushes my head forward, letting the English phrase slide past my tongue subconsciously.
“Whose excited for today?” Tsireya asks and I could feel my nerves return, I bit my bottom lip and looked at the sand worriedly. I looked back up to Tsireya who was giving me a look.
“Whats wrong?” She asks sweetly and I shuffle in the sand a bit.
“She keeps saying she has a bad feeling about today but we’ve told her nothing bad will happen.” Kiri explains and places her hands on my shoulders giving me a comforting squeeze.
“The weather is fine, the sun is out, the wind is not strong-“ Rotxo states as he looks back into the water we’d yet to go in.
“It’s just-“ I stop myself and cover my face with my hand before sliding that hand back in my hair. “The last time I had this feeling, Spider and I were caught by the avatar’s. And we can see how badly that ended.” I pushed out.
“Hey, that won’t happen again, y’know that, right?” Lo’ak is quick to answer as he steps by my side, squatting on his toes to reassure me, Spider also coming up on my other side and hugging me. Kiri remained behind me as she comforted me by holding me by my shoulders, gently rubbing them, I was surrounded by great people.
I nod weakly at his direction but couldn’t shake the feeling.
“Y’know what dad says, right?” Lo’ak asks again and I turn to look at him. I let out a short sigh from my nostrils, just knowing where this conversation is going.
“Sully’s stick together.” Lo’ak, Kiri, and Spider stated and I looked up toward Kiri then toward my other side at Spider.
“Really?” I’m asking them in general.
“Say it back, Y/n/n.” Spider says with a playful smile on his own lips and I roll my eyes as my own smile appears.
“Sully’s stick together.”
There was a total of four Ilu going, meaning everyone was paired up, or almost everyone was. Kiri and Spider were going together and so were Lo’ak and Tsireya- no surprise there. We’d already planned for me to go with Rotxo and everyone decided it was best to leave Ao’nung alone. But in order to get to the Spirit tree, we had to dive under the retaining wall, and it was quite a long breath hold. Up until this point the Ilu had been treading above water, Rotxo had to hold one hand on the harness and the other on my hip, Kiri did the same with Spider.
“H-how long?” I asked Rotxo with a nervous voice and I could tell he knew.
“Long, but we’ll get there as fast as we can, I promise.” He states gently and uses his thumb to rub my side as a means to calm me. “Just breath in using your belly, yeah?” He says again and I nod, doing just that, taking in a breath using my diaphragm. I hold on to the harness as well, knowing that once we dive our bodies will essentially float off of the Ilu.
“Here we go,” He states as he too takes in a quick breath and we dive.
The sea floor was never really something we came close to seeing, but the vivid colors of the coral that popped up every now and again were beautiful and caught my attention. I’d come to realize we were actually pretty close to the retaining wall as Rotxo lifted one of his hands to touch the bottom part of it, I refrained from doing the same since I didn’t want my skin to shred off of my finger, I didn’t know how fast we were going and decided not to risk it. The space between the retaining wall and the sea floor wasn’t huge, but it was just enough to let the migrating tulkin come for a visit, a cute story they all shared with me from when Neteyam was alive.
I caught a couple different fish swimming around us and heading up toward the little pools of water that were at the top of the retaining wall. The Natives made sure to feed the fish that came up and only occasionally take some as to not scare them all off. I had no idea the variety of shimmering colorful scales there were but looked at them in awe. I was tapped on the shoulder twice and knew we were about to resurface and as soon as we did all eyes were on me.
“That was so beautiful!” I basically yelled and giddily jump on the Ilu. “All of the pretty colors, and the different fish, and the coral!” I squeal at it and can hear a couple of them laughing, my face felt warm and I just knew a blush was covering my cheeks.
“We’re not that far away-“ Lo’ak breaks the silence and everyone continues on the path.
_________
I’d spent the majority of these past two weeks picking up extra work and making sure I could keep my mind off of what Neteyam had told me just to circle back so easily toward our group just because I couldn’t stand not having a social life.
I knew they’d planned an excursion of some sort, Tsireya had mentioned it to me in the hopes that I hung out with them again, and I wanted to- but I didn’t really want to because of the girl.
I knew I wasn’t in the mood to be carrying anyone with me on the Ilu, but seeing Rotxo with his hands all over her made me feel weird. Surprisingly she’d managed to hold her breath long enough to get past the retaining wall, but her child-like excitement at what she’d seen was something that made something in my chest tighten, but I couldn’t quite bring myself to understand it as I dived and headed off to where we were meant to be.
I’d been the first to arrive near the petals of the spirit tree and slid off my Ilu. I was tempted to connect myself to the tree but refrained as I knew the rest would be coming soon and I’m certain Tsireya would be upset that I’d done so without a diving partner. Just as I’d lifted myself up on the make-shift bridge I can see the rest of them coming in through the entrance, and the awe-struck face of the girl caught my attention once more.
She’s a sensitive person already and I have seen her face- in awe- at every celebration.
Neteyam’s voice rang through my head as I see the tears slide down her cheek.
“Awe, Y/n,” Tsireya coo’s and reaches over to wipe the girls face.
“She cries all the time,” Spider stated and gets hit upside the head by Kiri, I have to look away to stop myself from laughing. I figured I already had a terrible reputation with the girl and doubted they’d think I was laughing at her brother’s misfortune.
“She cries when she see’s beautiful things, skxawng.” Kiri rolls her eyes at the human in front of her.
“So,” Spider slides off the Ilu. “All the time?” He jokes and swims away from Kiri’s hand, she almost managed to slap him that time too.
“Do you want me to drop you off at the walkway?” Rotxo offers and affectionately places his hand on the humans head and I have to look away again. Some stupid part of me wanted to hiss at the action just then.
“I’ll swim.” Her tiny voice speaks up as she too slides off the Ilu. Splashing away before catching up toward the other human and smacking him on the head.
“Hey!” Spider yells as she manages to reach the walkway, pulling herself up, and twisting her body to sit as the water cascades back down.
“This is a sacred place, Spider, stop being petty in front of Eywa.” She scolds him as he grabs onto her leg and tries pulling her back in the water.
“I’ll take Eywa’s rath over you being right any day-“ He huffs as he yanks once more, knocking her off the bridge and back into the water.
I shake my head, they acted like literal children, and it didn’t help that they were already smaller than we were. Well the girl was smaller, the boy was pretty tall for a tawtute.
It didn’t take long for them to partner up, for obvious reasons Lo’ak and Tsireya were partnered up as well as Kiri and Rotxo. Kiri said she didn’t want to risk connecting to the spirit tree below water to prevent what happened last time and she’d offered me the opportunity to partner up with Rotxo instead but I declined.
The tawtute were huddled on the walkway too close for my liking as they spoke in their native tongue. I had no idea what they were saying and I didn’t want to learn their stupid language.
“Hey, fish lips-“ My ears flicker at the Na’Vi being spoken my way, I roll my eyes and ignore him.
“He has a name, Spider-“ I could hear the girl say in a hushed tone. I still ignored the two and refused to turn to look at them, focusing my stare down at the others connected to the spirit tree.
“Then yew azk hm,” I heard the retched language again.
“Uh-“ I heard the unsure voice of the girl and could hear foot steps getting closer. I turn with an unenthused look on my face but it turns to one of surprise when I realize it’s the girl.
“Sorry to bother you,” she stated so quick I almost didn’t understand what she had said. “But do you not have anyone you want to visit?” She asks so sweetly.
“Is that really your business?” I sneer at her and see her thin her lips immediately.
“N-no, not really. I just-“
“Then stop bothering me.” I answered before turning my head.
_________
“Thats the last time I try being nice to him.”
“That was the only time you’ve spoken to him.” Spider states as he moves his legs in the water, the rest of his body sitting on the magnetic rock.
“Because he’s rude. He’s a dick.” I sat back down and sigh heavily. I can feel the wind pick up and the hairs on my arm stand to attention, goosebumps covering my body.
“Hey, Spider-“ I stated in a serious tone and he looks up at me.
“What is it?” He asks with a raised brow and I can feel the tingle in my body.
“I felt it.” I stated seriously and his face falls at the realization. He looks up above my head and I turn to look behind me at the black clouds that were starting to cover the sky.
“Hey- hey, It’s going to be okay, we’ll make it back safe.” He reassures me but I shake my head as all I can do is think back to what happened the last time I got this feeling.
“Hey, fish lips, we need to call everyone back!” Spider yells for him and all I can do is get lost in thought about what could possibly happen. I’d never been in the sea during a storm. The waves start picking up by the tree but only a little.
“Everything is fine, we don’t need to-“ Ao’nung starts talking but pauses when he turns around. He jumps into the water immediately and leaves us on the surface.
“Spider we need to leave, now!” I yelled and could feel myself breathing heavily.
“Look at me, look-“ He grabs my face harshly but I couldn’t really feel it. “We got out of dad’s grasp we can get out of this too, yeah?”
All I could do was nod and at that point everyone had emerged from the waters, calling over the Ilu.
“Y/n, come here-“ Rotxo is quick to call me as his Ilu strides over. I’m shaking at this point and struggle to lower myself on the walkway and toward his Ilu.
“Hurry up!” Ao’nung yells and the waves start picking up, splashing over the walkway
“Bro, shut the fuck up.” Lo’ak speaks and it comes as a shock to everyone. He’s holding onto Tsireya but his look would definitely kill, he turns to me and his face is full of worry as he too makes his Ilu come closer.
“C’mon Y/n/n, lower yourself to sit on the walkway, we’ll help you.” He stated and I nod, I lower myself on the walkway to sit.
“Rotxo, grab her hips and sit her on the Ilu, she doesn’t weigh much.” He reassures the teal guy as he does exactly what Lo’ak says and Spider dives into the water, popping up by Kiri, who offers her hand as she helps him sit on the Ilu she was on.
“We’ll need to try to do the trip under water as much as possible, just tap on my hand when you need to breathe, okay?” Rotxo reassures me and I nod trying to take a deep breath but failing to do so as the tears start.
“You’re okay, Y/n, they won’t take you again. You have all of us here to protect you,” Rotxo states and gingerly pats my tummy, I take a few quick breaths before taking a huge breathe and we dive.
Its crazy how the top of the waters were roaring crazily, waves crashing around as the sea had her mood swings, but everything below the surface remained calm. Rotxo signs to ask me if I’m okay and I sign back that I could use another breath, then tap his arm twice with my own.
“I’m sorry-“ I stated as we reached the surface and I can feel the rain splashing on us harshly, the black clouds had caught up to us and the wind was sharp.
“It’s okay, are you ready?” He asks as he takes a breath of his own and we dive once more.
The group had all resurfaced a little further ahead of us but joined soon after. I knew my intuition was right, but I wanted to have a nice outing today and was hopeful that I was wrong, but after the bad feeling I get in my gut it usually goes away after being proven right but it was still there. I felt a warm presence beside me and in the blink of an eye I flung from the Ilu.
I could feel Rotxo reach out to grab me but he’d failed to as I was already pretty far away. I’d managed to let out a huff of air as I was unexpectedly swept away and held my breath since I couldn’t resurface, waiting for the dizzying current to stop and could feel my vision going black as my eyes felt heavier. Maybe now I would join Neteyam.
_________
For some reason, I had a voice in my head telling me to swim behind everyone else and make sure they got home safe before I did. It might have just been from my fathers training in becoming a great leader, so I shook it off.
We were technically halfway to the retaining wall and the sea water above us was rambunctious. I’m unsure what had caused this type of storm but it was happening for a reason, maybe because we brought them with us to a sacred place.
Before I could think any further I could see Rotxo reaching back to grasp the human that had surprisingly flung off his Ilu. I see how quickly her body was passing by and could only conclude she’d been swept away by a current.
Go home, I’ll get her, I’ll see you there when this is over.
I signed to Rotxo but didn’t wait for his answer as I’d already made my Ilu swim into the current to follow the human. It didn’t take long for me to reach her but she felt limp, I couldn’t resurface and check on her so I swam to the closest place I knew wouldn’t be affected.
Resurfacing in the cave where the water was much calmer helped tremendously. I’d settled the human on the make shift level ground in the middle. I tried remembering what Rotxo said Neteyam had done to Kiri when she swallowed sea water as well. I lean down slowly and turn her body toward the side and she spits up a lot of water. She opens her eyes and sits up quickly, backing away once she see’s me.
“What happened?” She asks immediately as I had placed my hands up to show her I meant no harm. She seemed to have touched a plant as she scooted backward and looks back at her hand as she does and rubs it against her leg.
“You were swept away from a current, I followed after. I couldn’t resurface with the storm so I brought you here to make sure you were fine.” I admit and felt myself confused as to why I was giving her so much information.
“Wheres everyone else?” She asks and coughs a bit.
“I told them to keep going home and we’d meet them there eventually, but we have to wait for the storm to pass.” I explained.
“Why did you save me?” She asks and confusion settles over her face.
“Because I felt like I needed to.” I admit and she lets out a small hum. She looks around in the cave and rests her back against one of the walls.
“Is this your secret place?” She asks and I look back at her raising a brow.
“I come here to think.” I admit and look back toward the natural waterfall that separates the entrance of the cave and where we sat. Water surrounded the make-shift island until where she sat with her back to the wall, the water was shallow near her though.
“It’s pretty, the lights make me feel calm.” She states and points to the bioluminescent walls as some of the plants are blooming around it. I nod absentmindedly as I stare at the plants and the realization hits me.
“Oh no,” I stated and stood up to inspect the flowers. “No, no, no,” I repeated as I rubbed the pollen between my fingers and could smell its sweet aroma.
“What? Whats wrong?” She asks and gets up, wiping her hand on her cheek, I turn and grab at her hand quickly, looking at the pollen on her hands and cheek.
“Ao’nung-“ She pleads.
“I didn’t know they were in bloom- I, I swear I didn’t do this on purpose.” I could feel myself freaking out for the first time in a while.
“You’re freaking out over flowers?” She laughs a little. “I thought this was something serious.”
“It is serious. The pollen reacts with us in a negative way and it-“ I stop myself and look at her. “I have no idea how it would affect you.”
“Is this a kind of joke to get me scared over a flower?” She asks and sits back down.
“Not to tell you what to do but could you hug me or something? You guys are usually very warm and humans are sensitive to temperatures, being wet and in a cave isn’t really good for me.”
“I’m not touching you,” I stated firmly.
“I could die if I’m not warm and no I’m not lying about that. It’s either hug me now or face Jake and Neytiri later.”
_________
I hadn’t woken up from my sleep completely because I’d kept my eyes closed but felt warmer than I usually did. I tried moving to allow myself more ventilation and it wasn’t until now that I felt an arm wrapped around my waist, my back was pressed against someone’s chest.
“Too warm-“ I stated sleeping and tried pushing against the hand on my waist to no avail.
“S’what you wanted.”
I opened my eyes immediately and try pushing with more force but every swipe of my body against his felt good.
“Ao’nung,” I whined but bit my lip at how I’d sounded.
“Y/n,” He retorts back sleepily and pulls me back against his chest.
“So you are capable of calling me something other than Tawtute and Vrrtep.” I try pushing myself away again and feel something else poking into me and he groans. Oh shit.
“Stop moving,” He groans but keeps a tight grip on me.
“Stop holding me against you.” I try getting away and feel his arm tighten around me, not allowing me to move.
“You said-“
“I know what I said, but its hot, I’m sweating. And your hands aren’t helping.”
“So it affects you too.” He states and I turn to look at him- or turn as much as I could.
“Are you going to tell me what that flower does?” I asked and he groans.
“You’ve felt the affects of it already, but I know what you’re thinking and you can’t fix it on your own. I’ve tried before and failed and waiting it out lasts three days. It’s unbearable but I won’t do anything you don’t want to.” I could feel his breath on my neck and bite back a whimper. His finger moves aimlessly around the edges of my tewng, near the bow I used to tie it.
“So we can agree we’re doing this to help each other out right?” I ask and he grunts as an answer, his fingers tugging one of the strings within the bow to untie it.
“I’ll stop when you say, even if it pains me, but you need to understand that you can’t do this by yourself.” He states and kisses my shoulder.
“Yes,”
And with that the string is untied and my tewng is pushed off of my body, my neck is being peppered with many kisses and his hand is rubbing up against my thigh. Grasping it and lifting it up and over one of his own, letting it dangle, and it wasn’t until now that I felt how wet I’d become.
“You smell amazing,” He comments and a blush covers my face. The hand that had been on my thigh is now on my belly, sliding down slowly.
“Shut up,” I gasp as his fangs tug on the skin of my neck just right.
It doesn’t take long for his hands to reach the place I needed them in and I gasp at how gentle he’d been when sliding his hands across my aching cunt.
“What do you like?” He asks while collecting some of my slick and rubbing it on my hardened clit.
“That, I like that-“ I whine as I find it hard to think in Na’Vi since all I could focus on was the pleasure he was providing me at the moment.
“You smell so damn good-“ He groans and takes his fingers away from my cunt, shoving them in his mouth, and I’m mortified, but he groans at the taste. “-and you taste divine,” His fingers move back to where they were.
“Oh fuck,” I whine at the feeling and throw my back.
“I have no idea what you’re saying but I know they’re naughty words, you shouldn’t speak like that, Y/n.”
“Ao’nung go faster, please.”
“You’ve been fingered, right?” He asks.
“Yes~”
He carefully places one inside and the stretch was welcomed, but strange, I hadn’t had anyone do this since just before being captured in the forest. But I couldn’t help myself sliding against it. He snakes his other hand around to hold my clothed breast in his hands.
“You’re close aren’t you, I can feel it.” He whispers and kisses my cheek. I could only throw my head back between his beck and shoulder while shamelessly riding his finger, my bottom lip stuck between my teeth.
“No,” he pulls on my chin with the hand that was on my breast. “I wanna hear you, little one.”
I couldn’t help but allow myself to moan loudly at his words and actions. It doesn’t help that my back was against his chest but I needed my mouth on his.
“Can you take another one?” He asks.
“Yes,” I answer mid moan in plain English and I’m happy he understood as he shoves a second finger in, the stretch wasn’t painful, it felt so good to have someone else doing this again.
“Too wrapped up in pleasure to think in Na’Vi?” He teases and I nod my head.
“Ao’nung, I’m coming-“
“It’s like I can understand you, even with your demon language, come on my fingers, little one.”
_________
Her orgasm gripped my fingers ferociously, her smooth velvety walls were greedily sucking my fingers in at the same time and her moans were making the experience sweeter. I couldn’t help but bite my own lip to prevent the whimper from coming out but failed at doing so as I watched her body react to my fingers alone.
I slid my fingers out of her dripping cunt and could see how well she’d covered them with her juices. I sit up bringing them up closer toward my mouth and taste her again, groaning in pleasure at her taste, she was addictive.
“Let me help you-“ she’s breathing heavily, chest rising up and down as she shakily turns to look at me.
“Why?” I asked her in confusion but wanting to kick myself in the face for turning her help down.
“Because you helped me, now it’s my turn to help you.” I hadn’t noticed before since it was dark in the cave but her pupils were blown wide, yet she was acting sweet.
“You’re acting kind,” I stated in a state of shock and she just nods.
“If we continue I will not be kind, the pollen makes us-“ she places her hand on my mouth to stop me from talking.
“Fuck the pollen, no wait, fuck me, but also fuck the pollen.”
Lo’ak had said that word has two meanings but I seemed to have understood her completely at that moment. I couldn’t help but let my eyes wander down toward her mouth and back up at her face again.
“Has he put his in your mouth before?”
“Yes,” She answers plainly as her little fingers greedily move their way to untie my tewng. And the relief flooding through my body as soon as my cock sprang free.
“Woah-“ She comments and just stares, is she disgusted?
She carefully uses a finger to trace it from the head back to the base and wraps that hand around it, her entire hand couldn’t wrap around it completely and I could feel my pride grow.
“So Metkayina men are bigger in every aspect.” She glides her hand back up toward the head and a shudder leaves my body, she slides it back down.
“What about you?” She asks, I hadn’t realized I’d closed my eyes until I find hers on mine when I open them. “What do you like?” She repeats the question I’d asked her earlier as she glides her hand back up toward the head. I place my hand on her head after she asks me the question, ruffling her hair.
“Whatever you’re comfortable with, little one.”
And with that she smiles, using her other hand to collect slick from herself and placing it on top of the one on my cock, I couldn’t help but thrust my hips up in her hands after she’d done that. She doesn’t hesitate to run her thumb over the head and I tried to hold it in but-
“Please-“ I beg and thrust myself into her hands again.
“Please what?” She asks in such a tiny voice I felt so out of place but I thrust in her hands again, whimpering at the sensation.
“Awe, come on, use your words.” She teases her thumb over the head again.
“I want-“ I thrust again and moan “-to come,” I huff and thrust myself faster.
“Not yet,” She seemed to be having fun with this as she moved her hands faster.
“Will you stop being mean to me if I let you come?” She asks and it catches me off guard.
“W-what?” I asked as my hips move on their own, just to feel her sweet hands at work, she had such a gentle touch.
“You heard me.”
“I’ll do anything you want if you let me come,” I moan and my breath hitches at her pace.
“Y/n, I’m close-“
“I know,” She leans down to fit the head in her mouth and the warm sensation was what threw me overboard as I came while moaning at the suckling she’d done, losing control of my hips and pushing in the slightest bit.
I’d detangled my hands from her hair, not remembering when it was I’d done that, and her mouth slides off my cock. She has drool and cum dribbling down her chin and I can’t help but use my thumb to clean her up a bit, only to shove it back inside her mouth and she clamps it shut around my finger, sucking it clean without my asking.
“You’re filthy,” I spoke in shock feeling my cock pulse at her actions. “I want to taste you,” I added and she stops sucking, looking back at me with wide eyes, letting go of my thumb she only stares up at me.
“Okay,” she sounds shy all of a sudden but all I can do is smile.
“You’re very beautiful,” I said in a serious tone and she only looks down. I grasp her jawline gently between my pointer finger and thumb, moving her face up to look at mine and lean down to kiss her. She kisses back and wraps her arms around my neck, making my cock twitch back to life.
“How do I take this contraption off?” I tug at the shirt she wore, it was an off the shoulder that came above her belly, but I had no idea how my sister made it or how she took it off. She turns around and moves her hair and I see it tied together.
_________
“How are you ready to go again?” I asked once I turned. I had meant to grab his face to kiss him but felt a little curious.
“Lay down for me,” He orders and I could feel myself clench around nothing but sit on my bum, looking up at him, I was nervous. Sure Neteyam and I had done things with our hands to each other, we’ve also done oral, but we never got to the full act of sex, so I was still a virgin even when Neteyam’s fingers popped my cherry. And there was something taboo about getting head from my friends bully.
“Are you okay?” He asks and I felt the nerves in my belly act up. His hand had come to my face and it felt warm.
“Just nervous.” I nod and turn my head to kiss his hand, his face softens and he leans down to kiss me again.
“I can kiss the nerves away, little one.”
And it surprises me that he does. The heat from the stupid pollen had returned as it made its way throughout my body but with each kiss he’d given me down my neck and onto my collar bones I could feel myself cooking down again. He doesn’t waste any time massaging my bare breast with his massive hands, making sure to pay attention to my nipples.
“You’re a tease-“ I gasp and he hums in agreement placing one of them in his mouth. Twisting his tongue around my nipple.
“Damn,” I mutter breathless.
He switches over toward the other nipple and gives it the same attention and I could feel the slick again, moaning at the sensation of his hand gliding down my side and onto my thighs. Lowering himself as he peppers kisses down my stomach and settles between my legs, making sure his arms are holding my thighs apart, hooking them around and holding me in place.
I swear I can hear him purring but he doesn’t really move, I peer over and notice he’s sniffing my cunt and I moan at the sight. He starts placing kisses on my inner thigh, trailing them up toward his prize and I’m a whimpering mess.
“I’m going to enjoy this more than you are,” He comments and licks teasingly around my lips, but with how sensitive I am down there he may as well have been licking my clit.
“St-stop teas-ing,” I manage to mutter but he doesn’t care since he does it a second time, ripping out a moan from me. I gasp as he licks a fat stripe on my cunt, I buck my hips as much as I can with how still he’s holding me and it makes me feel feral.
He takes his time licking around my already sensitive and puffy clit, kind of like french kissing my cunt, but I couldn’t help myself as I bucked my hips in his mouth, although I hadn’t succeeded much in moving my lower half. I could feel my orgasm approaching and needed to hold onto something- so my hands flew up to his hair. I can hear him laugh into my pussy as he continued eating.
“Fuck, please let me come.” I whine and feel him tapping on my belly with one hand. I struggle to look down and his face is buried in my pussy, but he signs instead.
Go ahead and come.
And with his permission I seize up under his tongue working his magic on me, he’d let go of my thigh as he signed and I humped the ever living fuck out of his face as I came. Once he comes up for air I can see how shiny his nose down to his chin look. I let out a tired giggle upon seeing his face and have come to realize his pupils are blown wide.
“I think I’m addicted to you,” He kisses my tummy on his way back up and plants a kiss on my forehead.
“How?” I asked out of curiosity.
“The way you smell,” He kisses me on the mouth and I could practically feel the emotion.
“The way you taste and the sounds you make,” Another kiss.
“How sweet you are,” Another.
I don’t hesitate to take my hand down toward his penis as he kisses me a third time and he hisses. I run my hand as low as I can and back up, squeezing the head to tease him a little as his hips jerk into my hand.
“I thought I was filthy?” I teased and purposely let go of him.
“You can be,” He leans down and kisses me again.
“Have you ever had- this, with anyone else before?” I asked him.
“Are you getting jealous?” He smirks and I roll my eyes.
“No, skxawng,”
“Yes, but this is also as far as I’ve gotten with them. But I want to go further with you, if you’ll let me.” He seems shocked at his own words but his face is serious. “Have you and-“
“This is as far as we’ve gotten too.” I admit. “But-“ I stop myself and catch his eye.
“I want you to be my first, pollen or not, I want to make you feel good, Ao’nung.” I stated seriously. And his hands find my face gently caressing my cheeks.
“I want you to feel good, but I need you to tell me if it hurts, I’m not sure how much of me you can take or if I’ll hurt you in the process.”
“I took two of your fingers pretty well, I’m sure I can handle you.” I stated and he kisses me again, so much passion and emotion running through me I felt dizzy again.
We found ourselves lying in missionary and he’d been biting his lip the entire time, working his way up to sticking his penis in.
“Look at me Yawne,” He asks and sounds scared as I look over. “You promise you’ll tell me?” He asks and his concern is adorable.
“Yes, I promise, but the burning feeling of the pollen is starting to come back pretty bad,” I whined slightly and he nods. He bites his lip in concentration and places the head against my waiting hole covered in slick. I gasp at the feeling of his head spreading me and it felt massive.
“Fuck-“ He states in pure english and I’m shocked at how he’d used the word correctly. His chest is rising a little faster than before but his eyes were closed.
There was no way this entire thing was going to fit into me and not hurt me, there was no fucking way! I tried to breathe through it to calm my heart but I should have known he would have sensed something was off.
“Talk to me little one, how does it feel?” He asks with such composure I feel surprised he managed to speak so calm.
“Uncomfortable but only a little,” I groan.
“Do you want to stop?” He asks and I keep my head laid down but move my eyes to look at him, shaking my head.
“I’m okay, keep going,” I urge him, he does go in more and he groans. I let out a long exhale as I try mentally preparing myself for this. I let out a cry as soon as I feel his fingers stroking my clit, unintentionally thrusting my own hips, taking more of him in.
“Figured I should help you out a bit,” He teases while running many circles over my already abused bud.
“How much of you is inside?” I asked through clenched teeth.
“About a third,” He states. “Are you okay?” He asks and I nod weakly.
“Just keep doing that,” I grasp onto the hand he has between my legs gingerly and he speeds it up.
“Ah~” I hiss and thrust against him, taking more of him in again. But just then he hit something that made me see fire works.
“That felt so good Tìyawn,” He moans and I could only figure I’d unintentionally clenched around him.
“Do that again,” I gasp as he slides out partially but slides back in. I throw my head back and arch my back slightly feeling the tip rub against me deliciously.
It eventually doesn’t take long for him to grasp my arms and hold them above my head as he thrusted in me without mercy. Both of us had been lost in the pleasure and our moans were echoing in the cave, I’d almost forgotten the Ilu had been on the other side of the waterfall.
“Oh my Eywa,” He states as soon as his hips collide with mine.
“Y/n- ugh- wow!” He struggles to stay consistent and I’m in a world of pleasure. I lift my head up to look at his face but this man is straight up biting his lips and his eyes are closed. It doesn’t take me long to look down and see the bulge in my belly as he moves and I contract around him.
“Agh-“ He hisses.
“Let me touch you, please-“ I couldn’t find it in myself to speak in Na’Vi so I didn’t.
But just as he happened to understand me earlier, he understood me again and releases my hands from his grasp. It was only a hypothesis but I had to test it out, as his body leaned over me I grasped the tips of his ears and rolled them between my thumb and pointer finger.
“Wanna come so bad, please let me come,” His hips stutter in deliciously against mine and he’s become a whimpering mess. I smile weakly at my victory and rub his ears faster and he’s moaning loudly, I had no idea he could be this vocal.
“Please little one, I need to come,” He begs again and his hands are on my hips, I could feel it too.
“Feel s’good, warm, tight, fuck!” He growls out the last word in English.
“Come, please come!” I whined and he leans down to bite the skin between my neck and shoulder at the exact moment I contract around his girthy cock. Hot spurts of his come coaxing my womb generously, most of it coming back out.
_________
“Wait-“ She places her hands on my arms as I dipped her into the water carefully, holding her body close to mine as I washed my come off of her.
“I’ll be quick, just need to clean you up,” I stated as my hands gently went between her legs to clean her up, her hiss is what stopped me in my tracks but I continued even slower.
“Is the storm over?” She asks and my ears flicker at the question, it hadn’t occurred to me to check the weather but didn’t hear the splatter of rain drops on the cave.
“Yes, we should head home soon before they send a search party.” I admitted and she nods. I slowly lift her out of the water and place her on the little island, pulling myself out of the water and sitting next to her, I’d already put my tewng back on and stood her up to place hers on as well. I held on to her hip to steady her as her legs kept shaking and managed to wrap hers on her body and tied it off.
“How do you put this back on?” I asked as I grasped the shirt she wore and she yanks it from my hands, placing it on herself, moving her hair out if the way so I could tie the back of it.
“We should probably go now, how far away are we?” She asks.
“Not too far, about halfway.” I stated and called the Ilu over, it emerges from the waterfall blocking this area from the entrance of the cave and I sit on it, holding a hand for her to take.
“I’ll go above water but you’ll need to hold your breath when we get to the wall.”
“Okay,” She’d responded and we spent the entire way back in silence. I wouldn’t call it comfortable but it wasn’t terrible, I figured she needed to rest her mind somewhat before talking, and I granted her that silence until we got back to the retaining wall.
“Ready?” I asked.
“Not really,” She responded. I’d placed my hand on her belly to feel her take her breath and she seemed to understand as she slowly inhaled deeply. Once she stopped I gave the Ilu the instruction to dive. I’d already seen the familiar faces of my parents and her family waiting for us to arrive as soon as we’d come back up.
“I was worried when the storm let up and I hadn’t seen you, what took you so long!” My mother’s voice was the first to speak once we got closer.
“I wanted to make sure she was okay to dive again.” I answered and out on the best face I could to convince her. As we got closer I placed my hand on Y/n’s hips and lifted her off the Ilu and straight into Toruk Makto’s hands, who lifted her up with ease.
“We were worried for you, kid.” He speaks to her as he kneels to check if she is injured.
“Whats this-“ He asks and reaches for her neck, she immediately hides my marking from him and covers it with her hair.
“Nothing.” She stated nonchalantly and he gives her a look before his eyes find mine. I look away immediately, I didn’t want him reading into my soul.
“Is the tawtute hurt?” My mother asks and takes a step closer to her.
“M’fine. I didn’t get hurt, your son took care of me, sorry for worrying you.” She stated so plainly and starts to walk away, I furrow my brows and hop off the Ilu, disconnecting myself from him and stepping onto the walkway myself.
“Wait a minute, Kid,” Jake speaks up after her and she stops but doesn’t turn around.
“Thank you for waiting for me, but I’m tired, I need to rest now.” She speaks and walks once more, Jake following after her.
“What did you do?” My mother hisses at me as I watch Y/n walking away.
“What? Nothing. I went after her when she was swept away from a current and made sure she was feeling better before we came back here. We waited the storm out in a cave nearby.” I omitted some of the truth but that was something she didn’t need to know about.
She only glares at me but takes my word for it as she turns and starts walking back herself, but not without stopping at the many people who had gathered around. It seemed like she was working on gathering a search party for us.
_________
“What happened?” Neytiri asks me so calmly I had not really expected this from her. Jake and I had just arrived at the entrance of the marui where she stood. I had no idea what to say but also didn’t want to have this conversation.
“All that matters is that she’s fine and needs her rest. Right kid?” Jake cuts in and I’m thankful he does.
“Y/n!” Tuk shouts happily from behind Neytiri and runs up to hug me.
“Hi TukTuk,” I smile at her and hug her back.
“Holy shit, she lives!” Spider comes out after hearing Tuk yell, I’m sure, but comes up to hug me either way.
“Don’t cuss in front of the child Skxawng!” I smack the back of his head and he laughs.
“Holy shit! Y/n!” Lo’ak is the next out of the tent followed by Kiri who all join in on the hug. I’m appalled at him cussing too and attempt to smack his head but hit his neck instead.
“Dad, Y/n just tried assassinating me,” Lo’ak whines.
“Good, somebody has to,” Jake jokes and Lo’ak frowns.
“Mom?” He asks and she just laughs at our antics but it wasn’t always like that with her.
When Neteyam had told her about how he was courting me for the longest time behind her back she went ballistic. She’d come up to hells gate- unannounced- asking for me specifically. I knew it couldn’t have gone well and she’d called me every name under the sun.
She had wondered what kind of corruption I’d set upon her son and wanted me to stop seeing him immediately. She’d told me that nobody would want someone they couldn’t bond with, that I was the biggest mistake he’d ever made, and he’d come to realize it soon. I’d been a mess of tears afterward and wondered why I’d allowed myself to fall for him.
He visited me after I hadn’t shown up to dinner and I begged him to choose someone else. He assured me that not even his mother would stop him from loving me, and that was the first night we ever did anything sexual. But he was gentle and sweet, and his words of affirmation made me feel so fuckin happy. It was after that night that Neteyam had stood up to his mother and told her to never talk to me the way she had again. It took a while before she wasn’t glaring at my presence but she grew to love me.
“Your mom likes me more,” I joke as soon as the hug was broken. He only places his hand gently on my head, scrunching his nose at the joke, my face fell and my eyes filled with tears at the gesture. Neteyam did that often, and I hadn’t planned to, but I started bawling.
“Oh, Kid,” Jake stated sadly and pulls me in for another hug.
“Lets go sleep, Y/n/n.” Tuk tugs on my hand while keeping herself close to comfort me.
“Come on, we can sleep like how we used to, right mom?” Lo’ak asks, his hand on my shoulder and I feel myself nodding against Jake.
_________
I’d found it weird that Kiri, Lo’ak, and spider had shown up without Y/n. But I didn’t want to comment on it since according to them we don’t get along, much less ask everyone where the other person is so I silently prayed that someone would ask where she was.
“Where is Y/n?” Rotxo was the first to ask and I guess I should have asked Eywa to let Tsireya notice instead but it was too late for that. Rotxo had no business wondering where she was.
“She wasn’t feeling well and had to stay in the marui resting.” Spider stated his explanation and I was wondering why she wasn’t feeling well. She did act a little weird last night after we’d gotten home and none of the family showed up for dinner. Had I done something wrong?
I’d been too worried on Y/n to really focus on my tasks today. I wasn’t up to par with my teasing of the darker toned family and found myself wondering how I could fix whatever problem the tawtute had. I’d been too unfocused that my dad took notice and told me to visit my mother to check up on me.
“What is wrong?” She asks as soon as her face lands on mine and I gulp, was it that evident on my face?
“Nothing,” I answered too quickly.
“I could hear your father asking where your focus has gone. And can only imagine you are sick, which you do not appear to be, or there is someone consuming your thoughts. So, who is she?” She asked so calmly as she finishes mixing some kind of drink together, refilling one of her bottles, but looking back at me as she finishes.
“Sa’nu,” I try stopping her but knew I was blushing. It was very rare for us to be affectionate in public, but we were always digging into each others personal lives every day. We often teased Tsireya about Lo’ak and their courtship. Tsireya and I often made fun of our parents, sometimes being grossed out by their kisses, but it felt different now that I was older.
“You cannot hide anything from me ma’itan,” She smiles at me and motions for me to come closer.
“You need to make clear with this girl what it is you want. If you want to court her do so, we do not need you filling your mind with doubt or worry. If she rejects you she wasn’t meant to be yours and was a loss cause anyway. You are perfect in my eyes and you will be perfect in hers.”
“Thank you,” I said at her words. She was always willing to comfort me at any given time and she was a wonderful mother. She kisses my forehead and caresses my face, moving the strands of hair off to the side, smiling widely at me.
“Introduce us to her when you are ready, until then, I will not pry. But pretend to focus for your fathers sake, hmm?”
“Okay,” I answer with a chuckle.
“Am I to expect you for dinner, or?” She leaves the question open and I blush at her words looking away from her gaze. “I will not.” She nods her head and goes back to her liquids.
Dinner could not have come soon enough as everyone gathered around to eat together. I’d been patiently waiting for the Sully’s to show up, I’d sat with my family to keep up appearances but was too nervous to eat, I could see the small human sitting with her family looking rather upset, her eyes had been puffy like she’d been crying, and my heart sinks at the sight of her.
It doesn’t take long for someone to start the festivities with some music and dancing. Others gathered around as some told stories and I’d chosen the perfect opportunity to hide away. Waiting for the moment when Y/n separated herself from her family to go back to their marui.
As she stands up and waves at little Tuk, who’d finally left her side to go with Rotxo’s younger sisters, I take the opportunity to follow closely behind her as soon as she’s far enough from the crowd. I grasp her arm gently and she jumps as she turns.
“Have you been avoiding me?” I ask with a smirk.
“Yes.” She stated before turning around to walk away.
“Hey, whats wrong,” I follow beside her as she continues walking.
“Aren’t you supposed to be off somewhere bothering someone else?” She asks and crosses her arms while stomping closer toward the marui’s.
“Please stop.” I asked her and she does.
“I do not understand. Have I upset you?” I ask and make my way around to face her but she’s looking at the floor. I could feel my face softening at her. “Please let me fix my mistake-“
“No, you have not upset me.” She cuts me off and her words should make me happy but her refusal to look at me is not comforting.
“Then why are you avoiding me?” I asked in a serious tone. She nervously looks up at me and looks away again, sighing.
“Can we talk somewhere nobody will hear us?” She asks and I nod. Heading off toward the wooded area we had on the island. We often took fruits from here and found special things my mother uses for healing. I could hear the sounds of her feet following behind me and didn’t need to turn around to make sure she was there- she walks pretty loudly.
We manage to reach a clearing closer to the center of it all, the grass and flowers growing wildly, but not too tall, it was enough to tickle my feet but I’m sure being in the forest climate meant she’d been around grass her entire life. Just as I reach the clearing I turn and sit so she can face me, but pat the grass beside myself so she could sit by me. I felt like I needed her close, I missed her touch, her smell, her, I just really missed her. But Eywa must have been on my side because she sat where I’d instructed and it brought a small smile to my face.
“Why are you upset, little one?” I asked with genuine curiosity.
“I might say a lot of words in english, and I apologize because I don’t know the Na’Vi equivalent or it just doesn’t have a translation. But please let me talk and ask questions when I’m done.” She states and I nod giving her my undivided attention, ears flickering toward her.
“I feel guilty for what happened at the cave. Not because I got caught in a current but because of the sex, I’d never mated with Neteyam, but sex is the next best thing and I didn’t even experience that fully with him. I want to say I was under the influence of the pollen, but a part of me really wanted to please you-“ She stops as she looks directly at me and looks away rather quickly.
“I feel like I’m taking things too fast and betraying Neteyam. Lo’ak did something yesterday, something ‘Teyam always did, he put his hand on my head and wrinkled his nose, and I absolutely lost it and started crying. I’ve never felt so guilty for what I did with you, but I also enjoyed it, I feel torn, and dirty.” She hugs her knee’s close to her chest.
“I also figured once we got back here, you’d just go back to being mean and ignoring me, I didn’t know what else to do except avoid you today.”
“I’m done now,” She stated sadly and I’m bringing her onto my lap immediately, hugging her.
“I want to correct you. It is not what you did, it is what we did, I was a part of it too and I need you to know I enjoyed every second of the time we shared. I also want to stupidly point out that I did tell you I’d do anything you wanted if you made me come, and I came.” I admitted and could feel her pull away with a blush covering her face. I use my fingers to hold her chin to look directly at me, suddenly feeling bold.
“I selfishly want it to happen again, and again, and again. I can understand your guilt but moving on is a part of the healing. Trust me when I say we all miss him, you will miss him forever, I do not blame you.” I stated and lean down to capture her lips with mine, I could feel my fangs poking her a bit.
“Can I make you feel good again, little one?” I ask as I connect our foreheads together, her cute tawtute nose poking mine.
“I feel guilty for wanting to say yes,” She stated, her eyes closed tightly.
“Stop feeling guilty and allow yourself to be happy, Yawne.” I mumble.
“Yes, yes I want you to make me feel good,” She whispers with her eyes still closed and I smile. Leaning down to kiss her again, carefully caressing her hips with one hand and her cheek with the other, sure it was an awkward angle but I didn’t mind.
In the midst of our make out I swipe my tongue on her bottom lip and she accepts by opening her mouth. Her tongue was soft against mine and allowed me dominance. She moans into the kiss grinding herself on me and I bite back a groan.
I remembered the way her shirt comes off and reach around to untie it as I kiss her jawline, managing to slide the loops away from each other as the shirt loosens around her, I kiss down her neck and let go of the string, bringing my hands back over toward her arms where the shirt was, tugging it off of her without breaking my concentration. I take both breast into my hand and play with her nipples as I kiss her collarbones.
“Your hands feel so good,” She allows herself to moan and the sound goes straight to my cock.
“It makes me happy that I can please you with only my hands,” I speak in a much lower tone as I hungrily take in her body.
“I want you to lay down, little one, you can do that for me, can’t you?” I asked and she nods and does just that. My hand slides down to untie her tewng, throwing it off to the side to join her shirt, letting my other hand trail down her thigh, grasping it gently behind the knee, squeezing myself between her.
“I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again, I’ll enjoy this way more than you will,” I kiss down her stomach, making my way down her thigh.
“Ao’nung~” She moans and I hum at her, looking up at her breathing heavily, a primal surge going through me.
I gently kiss her inner thigh from where her knee is, but end up kissing and sucking my way up her thigh, leaving marks on her as she writhes beneath me.
“Please,” She begs and I’m in awe of how raw her voice sounded.
“Please what?” I ask as I huff my breath into her cunt, knowing it drover her crazy.
“Fingers, please,” She whines and I hum.
“I was going to use my mouth,” I started and she cries out.
“Use both!”
“So demanding, Tìyawn, but we can work on your manners later.” I delve one finger inside her and feel how warm she is just as she moans for having it placed inside her.
“I love your sounds, Tìyawn,” I stated sweetly and she moans, I could watch her like this for the rest of my life and be satisfied.
“I’m going to lose my mind if I don’t taste you now, little one, forgive me if I lose my composure, yeah?” She lets out a guttural sound similar to a growl and it turns me on more. I dip my head to finally taste her, letting my tongue run all over her engorged bud and finally swallowing the first of her sweet slick.
“Don’t stop please, don’t stop-“ She mutters as her hands hold onto my hair, I let a chuckle bubble out as I continue eating her sweetness. I didn’t plan on stopping any time soon and I think she knew. I decided now would be a perfect time to stick a second finger in and she wails loudly. Had it not been for how loud everyone else was being I might have told her to hold back, but her sounds were just as addictive as her taste, and the sight before me.
“S’good, s’good, fuck, fuck-“ Her hips were snapping at their own pace as I continued.
“Holy fuckin’ shit-“ She seizes uncontrollably and my face gets covered in wet liquid, I stop and stick my face back up to see her with a confused expression on my face.
“I’m so sorry-“ She backs off of my fingers and has a hand over her face. I slide my fingers into my mouth and close my eyes as I savor the taste.
“I don’t know what that was but I want to see you do that again,” I leaned back down before she stops me.
“I want to return the favor-“ She starts.
“I said I wanted to make you feel good, not the other way around, Little one.” I kiss her as she sits up on her elbows.
“Then make me feel good, please,” She starts sitting up but I place my hand on her chest, feeling her heart almost bursting out of her chest.
“Please,” She asks again.
“You don’t ever have to beg for that Tìyawn, never.” I backed off as I untied my tewng and see her face relax.
“Look at me, pretty girl, I want to see your face.” I state as I get back down between her legs, lining myself up, pushing slightly.
She moans at the contact while biting her lip and her eyebrows bowed. I lean down to kiss her as I push in slightly and she groans.
“Does it hurt?” I asked as I stand still while inside her and she nods a little.
“Let me help you-“
“No,” She stops my hand. “It feels so good at the same time, please move,”
“Little one,” I warn but she manages to slide herself onto me, moaning as she does so while knitting her brow together, tears forming in her eyes.
“Hey,” I start to worry before she cuts me off again.
“Oh fuck s’good-“ Her eyes shut as tears stream down her face, her little hips thrusting and her sweet gummy walls clenching me tighter. “Please pleas please move, Ao, please-“
“Whatever you wish, yawntutsyìp,” I start moving my hips slow to ease her pretty cunt.
“Lay down, please, lay down!” She rushes her words and I barely understand but I stop all movement to look at her.
“What?”
“Lay down.” She states firmly and I try pulling out but she stops me. “No, lay down inside me,”
“What are you planning?” I asked her.
“Ao’nung Makto, now move.” I couldn’t help but laugh but get myself into position, she unexpectedly slides down all the way once she’s on top and she places her hands on my belly to stabilize herself while moaning.
“Oh fuck-“ She moans.
“Yes-“ I hiss and hold on to her hips, the bulge in her belly is prominent and I bite back a moan.
She surprises me by planting her feet on my hips and sliding up from my cock, and slamming herself back down and moaning incredibly loud.
“If you keep that up I won’t last long,” I admit to her feeling her warmth engulf me so well. Moaning as she slams herself back down on me, I grip her hips harsher and she moans as well.
“I’m close, Ao’nung, fuck,” She whines and slams herself back down again. The tears sliding down her face again. I allow myself to meet her thrusts and her tears stream freely and I feel something soft against my head.
“Fuck!” She yells and she comes the same way she’d done earlier. But watching, hearing, and smelling her had made me come inside her as I grasped her hips harshly. She falls straight onto my chest while I was still inside and I slide her upward so I can slip out of her.
“What was that?” I ask her calmly after I’d caught my breath.
“It’s called squirting, it happens when someone is being pleasured very well.” She speaks into my chest out of embarrassment.
“Ao’nung makto?” I ask and laugh after the words leave my lips.
“I can’t think well in Na’Vi when I’m distracted.” She admits and I gently pet her hair.
“Do we have to keep hiding this from the others?” She asks and I knew what she meant. “I did it with Neteyam for a while, I can hide things well-“
“No, little one, theres no need to hide it.”
“So we can tell your mom?”
“Okay, maybe hide it from some people,” I agreed and she laughs a little.
__________
“I told you I could walk on my own,” I laughed as he holds me like a child, I assume my height plays along with that, I held our clothes on my hands and they covered me from the cold winds of the night.
“But I like carrying you, my prize, my little tawtute,” He smiles happily as we walk closer toward the shores of the sea, I toss our clothes near the dry sand as he steps into the sea.
“Is the water cold?” I asked as he steps in further.
“A little, but if it gets to be too much I could always hug you again,” He offers and the water touches my toes, causing me to yelp, pulling my feet back up and he chuckles.
“No wait, maybe I want to smell like you-“ I started before he steps over once more and my body is submerged in the cool water. I pop up from the water and start shivering.
“Sorry-“ He laughs as he watches me struggle to wrap my arms around myself in an attempt to warm up. “-theres a slope right here, I didn’t do that on purpose Tiyawn.”
“Come here,” I said and spread my arms out for him to fit around. As he swims over I push his head down under water and laugh as he comes back up.
He tugs me closer to him and kisses my face all over. Holding me by my waist.
“We should get back to our marui’s soon-“ I admit but he places his hand on my lips gently to shush me.
“My mom knows theres someone I’m trying to impress so she’s not expecting me back any time soon.”
“Are you seriously that horny?” I asked and he seems to bite his lip as his eyes widened and this is the first time I’d seen him look anything like Tsireya.
“Ao’nung-“ I state and he smiles.
“What was that word you used earlier?” He asks and seems to find it before I could think. “Have you ever had sex in the water before?” He asks.
“You’re ready to go? Already?” I asked in disbelief as he trails one hand down my spine, the other holding my bum.
“I’m sure you know this but we like to fuck several times a night with our mate.” He whispers in my ear and I could feel a sudden tingle in my pussy, I let out a short and quick sigh.
“As long as you take it slow, I’m a little sore from before-“
“We don’t have to, Tìyawn.”
“Believe me, I want to, you just have to go slow.” I kiss him feverishly.

Anyways, enjoy! Also this is the very first fanfiction I’ve ever written. Please please please (by Sabrina Carpenter) give constructive feedback that won’t be too harsh on my little soul. This’ll be a fluffy fanfic. I'll dabble in smut later on maybe if y'all enjoy this enough...teehee. Happy BRAT summer/autumn 💚
P.S. Any errors you see will be excused by the fact English is not my first language and NOT because I suck at writing and revising ;) This fic will also be posted on Ao3 after they accept my invitation. Pls let me in Ao3.

Sober Thoughts
Word count: 4.7k
Summary: Y/N gets very drunk in front of Steve
Warnings: Alcohol, profanity
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being the son of Pepper Potts and the eccentric billionaire, playboy and philanthropist (in that exact order) Tony Stark came with its fair share of drawbacks. While financial security was a given for Y/N, a side that came with this coverage was endless PR events. Being the sole heir to the Stark company, Y/N was forcefully thrusted into the public eye at a very young age, constantly forced to appear at social gatherings for the general public to gain somewhat of a perception of him – hopefully for the better. Today was one of these socially exhausting days, and perhaps his least favourite event of all – the annual ‘Stark Gala: proceeds going to various charities!’ A boring name he is very well aware of, and yes the ‘proceeds going to various charities’ line was annoyingly part of the title – something he had so valiantly fought Tony on, albeit unsuccessfully.
The gala starts in 2 hours. Currently, in stereotypical Stark fashion, Y/N lay sedentary on his bed, staring at the ceiling whilst pondering for ways to escape the tiring event. Amidst his angsty mood, a knock arose from his door followed by Tony entering his room.
“Hey bud, no more moping around,” he said after flipping the light switch in Y/N's room, “gala’s not gonna dance itself.”
Y/N turned and laid on his belly, eyes stuffed into his pillow in an attempt to suppress the bright lights, “What if I just don’t come, dad? Just chalk my absence to a cold for the press, please. I have no will nor strength to do this.”
“You know you can’t do that, Y/N/N. The public requests you grace them with your holy presence at the gala.”
“Dad, what if I just set fire to the venue?”
Tony scoffed at his son's comment. “Don’t bother with that sassy attitude, kid. It’ll be over in a flash. Just enjoy, grab some drinks – and hey you might even find yourself a nice date there.” He said, adjusting a frame on the wall. “My best advice is mingle until your mouth falls off – my dad used to say that to me.”
As Tony continued slightly tidying Y/N's room, a muffled groan erupted from his pillow. Y/N knew he was very well right; there was no escaping. Resigning to his fate, he abruptly stood up from his bed and began rummaging through his closet. “Fine. I’m going because I want to go, not because you’re forcing me to.”
Tony chuckled and ruffled Y/N's hair. “That’s the spirit, champ. I promise you these things can be fun if you let them. Soak up the atmosphere. And enjoy the drinks.” He then murmured, “Just not too much, as well ‘cause…you know.”
Tony’s sudden shift in tone was in reference to Y/N's relationship with alcohol. While Tony was notorious for being able to hold his liquor, the alcohol-tolerance gene had unfortunately not been passed down to his son. The last time Y/N drank, which had been at Clint’s birthday party, he had somehow woken up inside of a dumpster – not even exaggerating. Another time, he had taken a plane to Washington and found himself passed out on a bench outside the Pentagon – also not a hyperbole. Aware of this knowledge, Y/N planned on getting absolutely wasted in order to pass the time and to make the night somewhat memorable.
Y/N ran a hand through his hair attempting to fix it whilst looking for proper attire. “Yes, yes I know, father figure. Do you promise it won’t be boring like last year?”
Tony feigned an offended look, putting his palm against his chest. “Boring? There was an open bar and a chocolate fountain – all appearing again this year, by the way. What more could a man ask for?”
“To not come.” Y/N said begrudgingly.
“Okay well sometimes certain things can’t be provided, sugar plum.” A grimace found itself on Y/N's face after hearing the nickname. Before he could respond, Tony was already halfway through the door. “Anyways, be ready by 8; we’re leaving at 8:30 sharp.”
------------------------------------
The night was, to say the least, already an absolute dread. Upon arriving at the upper-echelon-esque museum where the gala was being held, Y/N was already drained. After exiting the limousine that took both him and Tony to the museum, a torrent of camera flashes had blinded Y/N. Furthermore, before even entering the museum, a news reporter had shoved a microphone into his face and asked a very invasive question about his lovelife. Before Y/N could insult the reporter’s rude behaviour, Tony quickly grabbed his arm and ushered him into the museum.
It was very well aware by the public of Y/N's choice of abstaining from dating, never really having any serious relationships. This was especially questionable for the public considering who his father was, with everyone believing Y/N would’ve followed in lieu of his behaviour during his 20’s.
However, what the public didn’t know was that the reason for Y/N's singleness was because of one of his dad’s blonde colleagues (that wasn’t Thor). Y/N's crush for  Steve Rogers AKA Captain America had simmered for the last few months. It began during an incident in the Avenger’s Compound in which the inherent Stark idiocy had decided to bite Y/N severely in the ass.
------------------------------------
It had been late at night and Y/N had been tinkering on some project in one of Tony’s spare workshops in the compound when his phone suddenly rang. Picking it up, he saw Tony was calling him. He paused the music blaring in the workshop’s speakers before answering his dad.
“Hey bud, I have a favour to ask.”
“What is it, father figure?” He set down a screwdriver he was holding down on the workshop table.
“First, you know I hate it when you call me that. Second, there are some files that were delivered to my office that need to be put into storage in the room beside the training area. Would you mind doing it for me?”
“And why can’t you get Happy or yourself to do it?”
“Well I am actually currently at dinner right now with your mother and we are having a blast right now, and Happy is enjoying a paid holiday in the Bahamas.”
With an overexaggerated sigh, Y/N hung up on Tony and accepted without further question.
Heading towards Tony’s office, he marvelled at the emptiness of the Avenger’s Compound. While he never interacted much with the Avengers, only in passing, he was aware that some of them were nightowlers. However, there really was no one. Usually, there would be at least a SHIELD agent somewhere, but tonight the building was completely desolate.
Upon arriving at Tony’s office, Y/N immediately noticed the large boxes propped on his dad's desk. He had clearly underestimated the sizes of the office boxes, with one he (very dramatically) guesstimated being the size of his torso’s length with a width of a baby whale. Unfortunately for him, there were 5 boxes in total. Being the impatient ass he is, he had decided to carry all of the boxes in one go to spare himself having to return to Tony’s office for a second trip. He noticeably struggled and after leaving Tony’s office, he immediately regretted his decision, wishing he inherited more of his mother’s patience. From a bystander's perspective, it was a comical sight seeing Y/N Stark carrying a tower of boxes almost twice his height.
After rounding a sharp corner – something that could’ve been easily avoided considering the size of the building’s hallways – Y/N  crashed right into another person. Y/N, along with the boxes, crashed loudly and painfully against the cement floor.
"Shit," Y/N said out loud. The embarrassment from the predicament was too much for him, so he opted for keeping his eyes on the ground, seemingly becoming very interested in the flooring's designed patterns. He stayed in that position, wallowing in his shame until the other person he had forgotten about spoke up.
"Sorry about that, kid." A low and husky voice spoke above Y/N. Y/N moved his eyes from the floor to the other man in the hallway. He was met with piercing blue eyes and a head of light blonde hair. Great. Not only had he embarrassed himself in front of someone, but that certain someone had to be Captain America of all people. Flashing the best smile he could conjure, Y/N stood up from the floor in an attempt to save as much face as possible.
"No, no, it was all my fault Steve," Y/N chirped. Wow, he sounded like a complete wimp. Not only that, but he called Captain America by his actual legal government name. Y/N did not consider himself close enough to call Captain America Steve. The situation was further going off the rails as they both stood in an uncomfortable silence for what seemed like forever. Suddenly, Steve spoke again, breaking the suffocating air of awkwardness.
"Need help with those." Steve said, smiling slightly at Y/N. Thinking back on it now, it was definitely the smile that got Y/N hooked into Steve. With a curt nod, both of the men started cleaning the mess of files. "Do these need to be in a specific order?" Steve questioned. Quite frankly, Y/N did not care for the files' order; he was much more preoccupied with the strange feeling down in his stomach. He slapped himself internally before answering Steve.
"I'm not sure actually. The person reading these can decipher that themself." Steve chuckled at his words. An actual, genuine laugh. Y/N found whatever he said to not be as funny Steve was making it out to be. But nevertheless, good job Y/N! You made Captain America laugh at something you said! After tidying the files, the two of them started walking, Y/N in the lead with Steve following in his stead.
"Where to, Stark Jr.?"
"The storage room by the training grounds."
The walk to the files' designated area was filled with silence – not uncomfortable like before, but instead a somewhat pleasant quiet. Deciding to be bold, Y/N asked Steve a question.
"What do you do all day?" Wow, Y/N didn't intend on that sounding as rude as it did.
"What do you mean?" Steve responded.
"Like, what do you do when there isn't a mission where you have to save the world or anything." Great save, Y/N said to himself.
"Well, if there isn't a mission I usually train in the gym – nothing bad in doing some extra training. Other than that, I usually visit SHIELD's headquarters to do business that I'm sure you're not interested in hearing about." He turned and smiled at Y/N after saying the last part. The strange feeling was there again.
"That honestly sounds like a miserable existence."  Y/N said. Steve laughed and Y/N smiled, proud of himself for making Captain America laugh a second time this night. "Do you have any actual free time at all?"
"The only time we get to ourselves are weekends. I typically go for jogs in the morning then catch up on any work I didn't get to finish from the weekday. By the time I finish, it's already pretty late at night." As Steve continued to talk, Y/N couldn't help but sneak glances at him. Y/N had noticed a smile was etched on Steve's face and he wondered if it was because Steve enjoyed his company or if he was merely entertained by their topic of conversation. "If I have any time to spare, I like to draw. I've started taking painting classes recently."
Y/N debated on whether or not to make a joke about Steve's work and him not "finishing" fast enough, but thought it was too weird even for him. "Wow, even on your day off your life sounds bland – aside from the drawing part I guess." Steve had laughed once more at what Y/N said, and Y/N silently applauded himself once again.
Steve's smile persisted despite Y/N's slight insult to his daily life. "My turn to ask. What do you do all day? I never see you around that much."
"That's 'cause I'm usually cooped up in a lab somewhere doing tech stuff I'm sure you're not interested in hearing about." Steve chuckled again. "If I'm not doing techy stuff, then I'm usually doing boring paperwork for Stark industries. And if I'm not doing that, I'm sleeping peacefully in my bed."
"Now I'm offended by you calling my life bland when yours’ is equally as boring, Y/N," Steve joked.
"It'd be more exciting if you were in it." Oh Y/N, what exactly are you saying now? Suddenly, the signature Stark flirtiness accumulated within Y/N as the next words left his lips. "You should join me on my bed sometime." Oh sweet Jesus. Even Y/N himself shriveled from pure disgust at what he just said. It wasn't even a remotely good pickup line. He fully expected Steve to bolt away as soon as possible and leave him behind with the behemoth-sized boxes.
Before Steve could respond, the pair found themselves in front of the storage room. Steve opened the door for Y/N who could only mumble a quiet thanks in response as he was still shaken up from his earlier misspeaking. Finding a secluded table in the room, Y/N set down the boxes with Steve following in suit. The two then exited the room and found themselves in yet again another uncomfortable silence. Before Y/N could hurriedly escape, Steve spoke.
"You should get out of your lab more. I'd like to see more of you around if that's possible." Upon hearing that, the feeling from earlier was present again in Y/N's stomach except it had been exponentially stronger this time. "I enjoyed talking with you, Y/N."
It was as if Y/N had lost any inkling of social awareness as he said his next remark. "You'd practically have to pry me off a workbench with those big arms of yours, Steve."
Steve only laughed in response, clearly somewhat amused by Y/N's bold eccentricity. "I'll see you around, Y/N." Steve started walking away before suddenly turning around with a smirk on his mouth. "Oh, and I'll take you up on that earlier offer."
------------------------------------
Ironically enough, Y/N and Steve have yet to converse with each other again after their brief encounter. This was mainly due to Y/N avoiding Steve after having said his embarrassing comments – especially about Steve's arms, something Y/N can't help but gag at upon reflection. Looking back at their moment together, Y/N can only sigh and hope the super soldier forgot about his humiliating behaviour.
Looking around the museum, Y/N stared in awe at the inside's appearance. The building itself had replicated the architecture and grandeur of Ancient Greece, with large columns on the building's interior and exterior. While the building itself was an architectural beauty, what really stood out were the floral decorations garnered around the room, both on the tables surrounding the middle of the museum designated as a dance floor and hanging in between the interior pillars. Y/N had to remind himself to find his mother later, who arrived hours earlier to help decorate, and commend her keen taste in floral arrangements.
Y/N's moment taking in the interior decor was interrupted when he was approached by Tony and a stubby man wearing a suit. Tony introduced the man to Y/N who turned out to be one of Stark Industries' business partners. Nothing notable was said in their conversation aside from numbers and Y/N's vision for the future of Stark Industries. This was how the first half of the night went: Tony introduced Y/N to one of his business partners, boring conversations about logistics would ensue, Y/N was asked about his ideas on Stark Industries' future – rinse and repeat. After numerous runs of this seemingly perpetual cycle, Y/N's social battery had been absolutely drained and Operation Get-Drunk-And-Pass-Out was set in motion. Excusing himself from Tony's presence, Y/N ran a beeline towards the bar, his stride swift with determination to get his hands on anything alcoholic.
Taking a seat at the bar, Y/N began thinking about what he would drink. Suddenly forgetting every alcoholic beverage that ever existed, he waved down the bartender to get his first drink of the night. "I'd like whatever will get me the most piss-faced, please." The bartender simply gave him a cordial smile and nod before pouring a single clear liquid into a small shot glass. He then gave Y/N the glass who before drinking said, "bottoms up." The mystery liquid was absolutely repulsive and scorched Y/N's throat. His face puckered up in pain, eyes shut as tears formed at the brim of his ducts. "Jesus, dude, what is this!?"
"Everclear." The man answered with a very thick Russian accent. Y/N had no idea what that was nor was aware of its very high alcoholic percentage, almost being pure alcohol.  What he did know was the vile taste and painful burn signified it was able to get him 100% wasted.
"I'll take 10 more of those, please."
------------------------------------
At shot four, Y/N's vision had started getting blurry, his lips and skin felt tingly, and he kept laughing at the most nonsensical things to laugh at. His drunkenness was made very apparent for everyone at the bar when he pointed towards someone's poorly trimmed goatee and laughed maniacally at it. While his actions had been in poor-taste and he was making a grand fool of himself, Y/N could care less as he revelled with his newly acquainted friend, Everclear.
Before downing shot number five, a man had approached and sat beside Y/N and began ordering. To his surprise, Captain America in the flesh had situated himself beside him at the bar. Knowing Y/N's already embarrassing encounter with him sober, only God knows what was about to ensue between the two of them while he was intoxicated.
“Enjoying the night, Mr. America?” Y/N slurred.
“Clearly not as much as you, Y/N.” Steve responded. He was currently sporting a classic black and white tux with a dark blue tie. His attire, while as basic and stereotypical as they come for a formal event, suited him perfectly. Being the idiot Y/N was while drunk, the spike of confidence that surged within him caused him to comment on Steve's appearance.
Y/N leaned towards Steve, getting very close in his personal space, then saying, “apologies, Captain, but you sure do look ravishing if I do say so myself. I’m proud to be an American.” Y/N giggled at himself while Steve looked at him with an amused expression.
“If I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re flirting with me, Y/N.” Steve said, flashing his captivating smile. Y/N stared at him with dazed eyes before leaning back and downing his fifth shot of liquid courage.
"Maybe I am flirting with you, Steve. That's what I was doing last time we talked in case you didn't realize."
"Yes, you were quite subtle the last time we spoke." He said sarcastically. He took a sip of whatever he ordered from the bar before continuing. "Speaking of, I've been meaning to talk to you ever since that night, but I could never get a hold of you."
Y/N laughed, not knowing if Steve actually knew why he hasn't seen him since or if he really was oblivious. "Well, Steve, I was avoiding you because I made a fool of myself the last time we talked." A hiccup came out of Y/N's throat. "And then I said to myself, 'Steve probably thinks I'm weird so I'll avoid him to prevent any further embarrassment'."
"Well, I really did enjoy our conversation last time, Y/N. I mean it."
Similar to their last encounter, a wave of deafening silence consumed the pair's conversation, the awkward tension causing Y/N to become slightly sober. Fortunately for him, the alcohol was still very much prevalent in his bloodstream, giving him enough confidence to break the awkward silence.
"Sometimes I wish I could just run away – leave this life behind and escape to some deserted island.” Y/N glanced towards Steve who was already looking at him. "It's too much at times – this life."
"It would be easier if you had someone with you for the journey."
Y/N looked at him, feigning an incredulous look. "Are you implying with your word choice, manner of speaking and overall cadence that you want to be that person for me?" Y/N laughed, scoffed was more like it. "I'd say you're the person flirting with me, Steve."
Steve chuckled softly, his eyes never leaving Y/N. "Maybe I am, Y/N."
Y/N could only stare at him as his heart skipped a beat. Perhaps it was the alcohol messing with his senses and disposition, but his usual wit was gone and he was speechless – a rare moment for Starks. Noticing his hesitation, Steve leaned in slightly, lowering his voice to a near whisper.
"Y/N, you don't have to go through this life alone. I've seen through your father how hard it can be for someone in your position. But you don't have to bear it all by yourself."
"Do you really mean that, Steve? Or are you just saying all this because I'm drunk and pathetic." Y/N's voice wavered, the confidence he had during their last encounter was noticeably absent.
Steve reached out, placing a hand on Y/N's shoulder. "I've noticed you, Y/N. Even though we haven't talked much, I can already tell you're a special person. You're more than just Tony Stark's kid. There's something unique about you. And I want to get to know you more."
The butterflies Y/N felt during their last encounter returned and did pirouettes in his stomach. "I don't know what to say, Steve."
"You don't have to say anything right now. Just know I'll be here and I won't be leaving anytime soon."
Y/N looked at Steve, a whirlwind of emotions torpedoing inside of him. For the first time in a long time, he didn't feel so alone. The confidence suddenly returned and a smile braced itself on Y/N's face. "Are you technically asking me out?"
Steve only laughed in response before standing up and saying, "I can take you home now if you want."
Y/N quickly stood up. "Oh yes please, Steve. Another minute in here and I think I'll have an aneurysm." As the two started walking, a sudden wave of a burdening reminder of his father's presence washed over Y/N. "Wait, I can't leave – dad said I-."
Before Y/N could finish, Steve quickly interrupted him. "I think everyone here, including Tony, can see you're in no condition to be here any longer."
Y/N could only nod, too exhausted to protest. As they exited the building Y/N's head grew heavy, and it gently fell onto Steve’s shoulder. Steve tensed for a moment, then relaxed as his arm slowly wrapped around Y/N’s waist, pulling him closer. “Take me home, Steve,” Y/N mumbled softly against his shoulder, his breath warm against Steve’s neck.
"That's what I'm doing right now, Y/N." Steve said softly.
------------------------------------
After exiting the building, Steve hailed one of the idle limousines across the museum. He had to carefully slide in Y/N's body before sliding in beside him.
The ride back to the Avenger's Compound was quiet and tranquil, a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the earlier evening. Steve glanced at his watch - it said 3:33 AM - then turned his gaze towards Y/N's sleeping body leaning against the car window. A small dribble of saliva was escaping the corners of his mouth, and Steve quietly chuckled.
"I can feel you looking at me. Cut it out."
"Unfortunately, I can't seem to stop my eyes from lingering on things I find beautiful." Y/N could only blush at Steve's unexpectedly sappy words, unaware the super soldier had it in him to be a corny romantic.
"You're no better than any other man, Steve Rogers," Y/N teased, though his voice was softer than before. Steve smiled, but was interrupted by a loud yawn erupting from his mouth. Abruptly, Y/N sat up straight from his slouched position, suddenly remembering something in his drunken haze. "You know, you still have yet to cash in on my offer, Steve."
"You mean your offer to be in bed with you?" Steve asked, his tone in between amusement and curiosity.
Y/N eagerly nodded. "I wouldn't mind if that happened tonight."
Steve's head turned at a concerning speed that definitely would've given a normal person severe whiplash. He gave Y/N a stern yet somber look, one that carried warmth with a reprimanding undertone behind it. "I'm not going to sleep with you, Y/N. I mean, you're drunk and that would be me taking advantage of you – I'd like to think you expect better from me."
Y/N blinked, looking both very offended and embarrassed. "That is absolutely not what I meant, Steve, you naughty man!" He crossed his arms and sunk into the limo's soft leather seats. "I meant that it would be nice if we just laid and went to sleep together...I just don't want to be alone tonight."
Steve's expression softened immediately, understanding the vulnerability behind Y/N's words. Their eyes met, a silent agreement shared between them, filling the rest of the ride with warmth from their comforting connection.
As the car grew quiet again, Y/N, emboldened by the last remnants of alcohol in his system, threw one more cheeky remark towards Steve. "But you would have sex with me, right?"
Steve laughed, his head shaking, but the tenderness in his smile spoke volumes. "Get some rest, Y/N. We'll talk in the morning."
------------------------------------
Y/N stirred awake in his bed, his eyes wincing as the harsh rays pierced through a gap between his bedroom curtains. His head pounded, and a wave of nausea met him immediately. Unable to fight it, Y/N ran to his bathroom, purging the contents of last night's festivities in his toilet. It was quite a horrid sight.
After what seemed like hours, Y/N exited from his bathroom, wanting to get more sleep. Stumbling back to his bed, he noticed the large body-shaped mound from underneath his blankets. Frightened, he approached it cautiously, scared of the idea of having drunkenly slept with a stranger.
Slowly uncovering the body, Y/N was met with the peaceful sight of a sleeping Captain America. Steve's chest rose and fell steadily, lips parted as he took even breaths. Then, the events of the previous night came rushing back to him like a semi-good dream and Y/N mentally facepalmed himself. However, while he internally scolded himself for his embarrassing behaviour, he also congratulated himself for having been somewhat successful in his endeavours of pursuing Steve.
Laying back down gingerly beside Steve, Y/N grabbed his phone from the nightstand. The time was 11:11 AM and Y/N silently made a wish to himself. He noticed he had received 10 missed calls and nearly 50+ messages from his dad. Thinking it was regarding his early leave from the gala, Y/N decided to deal with his father later, still exhausted from the night before. Opening Twitter (he refused to call it 'X'), Y/N's eyebrows furrowed as he saw his name trending alongside 'Steve Rogers' and 'Captain America.' A knot formed in his stomach and he decided to Google his name. The urge to puke suddenly returned as he was met with a news article reading:
‘Hottest New Couple in NYC?! – Captain America & Y/N Stark Seen  Seen Getting Cozy During Annual Stark Gala’
Below the headline was a picture snapped of Steve and Y/N at the bar, Steve leaning closely towards Y/N as both shared very flirtatious smiles towards each other. Y/N groaned loudly, causing Steve to stir awake. Today was going to be PR hell.
FIN
A/N: This actually took multiple days to write and while rereading it it's actually really corny? But, fanfic writing is actually kind of fun, I might do it more. Anyways, hope you enjoyed :) Also sorry for any mistakes I'm too lazy to revise

It had been an averagely difficult day in the Netherlands, first it was the weather, then the colleagues, then timings. Overall, it was just a plain day that tipped yourself over the edge just a tad bit more, just how it had been doing for the past couple of months: years even. At this point you couldn’t really remember when you felt normal when not in your loving boyfriend’s; Joost, Joost Klein’s embrace.
He had known you longer than you could even remember, you were childhood friends, best friends even; that blossomed into the most picturesque couple people thought of. In social media, in real life and behind closed doors, Joost was perfect; supposedly you were too, but you most definitely didn’t feel like it. You felt more… disappointed in yourself, it felt like you didn’t put any effort into your relationship with Joost. Well, Joost felt the opposite way, and he always reassured you of it, yet the feeling was still there.
What could it be? The fact that he was practically an a-list celebrity now that he got unfairly disqualified from Eurovision and having ‘the best’, song in Eurovision, though it was probably just a fan-favourite instead. Nevertheless, you always felt weird next to him, like you didn’t belong with him any longer.
Overtaken your consciousness was what your thoughts were doing to you, it had gotten to the point where your half an hour journey from your job to the little apartment (that you shared with Joost) had gone by in the brink of an eye. You waltzed into the apartment, the soft, soothing, sensational scent of the candle you had bought Joost engulfed your senses, making you realise that you were home.
Without any noise, you made your way into the kitchen to heat up some leftovers from the day before. And, before you knew it; there he was, muttering a soft string of praises into your ear, constantly switching between Dutch and English. It took you a good minute to turn around and thank him due to the strong hold he had on you, not letting you do much. Though, once you had gently pried his hands off of you, you lazily ran your hands through his long, healthy hair; pulling him in so that you could murmur and he could clearly hear you. And so, you did just that; in a weak, sickly voice, you murmured into his ear.
“I don’t know how much longer I can take this, Joost. I want this to end, now.”
You two drowned into a sickly disease; silence, it could mean nothing and everything. It left you thinking, overthinking yet all of these thoughts that consumed your mind, you knew they weren’t true. He would never do anything like that, he hadn’t done anything of that, bad, nature for the whole time you had been together. Instead of judging your bad habits, he tried helping you prevent them, from the moment he figured out, he sat next to you. In that dingy bathroom, cleaning them up, wrapping them tightly in paper towels before grabbing actual bandages.
“Lieverd, alsjeblieft.” (Darling, please.)
A excruciatingly large sigh left your lips as you slowly rested your head onto Joost’s shoulder, using him as a pillar to remain up on your own two feet. You felt a salty liquid drip from your eyes, travelling from your waterline, to your pink; swollen cheeks to your neck then onto your clothes.
“I love you Joost, I really do, you know?”

helo! dwi'n dysgu cymraeg a dwi isio gwrando ar fwy o bandiau sy'n canu yn gymraeg. oes gen ti hoff bandiau neu albymau? dwi'n licio yws gwynedd a gwilym yn fawr ond dwi ddim yn siwr os mae 'na bandiau eraill fel nhw, felly mae steiliau gwahanol yn iawn hefyd. diolch yn fawr!
Helo! Gobeithio ti’n iawn! 😄 Mae llawer o hoff fandiau gyda fi, mawr a newydd. Mae sîn cerddoriaeth Cymraeg yn wych ar hyn o bryd!
Super Furry Animals yw fy hoff band yn y byd (ces i gyfle i ddwued hyn i’w canwr nhw Gruff Rhys, moment o fy mywyd!) Gwenno yw un mwy o fy ffefrynau! Mae hi’n canu yn Gymraeg a Cernyweg, synthpop musician yw hi, a does dim neb yn gwneud miwsig fel hi nawr! Os ces i roi dim ond un rec i bobl, mae’n Datblygu. Genre-wise mae nhw’n post punk, ond oedd y llais, geiriau a sylwebaeth David R Edwards a cerddoriaeth Patricia Morgan yn singular. Does dim neb yn debyg iddyn nhw!
I do have a few recommendations for you os ti’n hoffi Gwilym ac Yws Gwynedd!
If you like Gwylim I think you’ll also enjoy Fleur de Lys, they’re an indie rock band from North Wales in the mid-2010s. They’ve just released a new single called Gad Ni Fod that reminds me a little of Gwilym! You might also like Sŵnami, though they’re a bit more of a pop band. I like their song Gwenwyn. If you’re into heavier music though, there’s another song called Gwenwyn by a band called Alffa. They’re just two lads but they make a ginormous sound, and they’re all-independent and also amongst the most lovely people I’ve spent 3 hours with, so check them out! Gwenwyn also became the first Welsh language song on Spotify to cross a million streams, which is a great achievement. My favourite song of theirs is Babi Mam, a song on men’s mental health, and crucially the lyrics are also available online.
Another rec bouncing off of Gwylim would be Ynys from Aberystwyth. They make harmonic pop/psychedelic rock, I can’t recommend them enough! They’re a newer band, but they’re formed by Dylan Hughes, who used to be in a lovely 2010s indie band called Race Horses (another Cymraeg fav of mine tbh), and some of that band play with him in Ynys too. Helpfully, Dylan is also particular about making sure all his lyrics are available, which is great as a learner! It’s in the lyric booklets but also on their Bandcamp.
You should also definitely check out Adwaith, who are one of the best new bands in Wales! They’re from Carmarthen, so you’ll also hear in their lyrics that they use bits of South Walian Welsh, and the thing I admire about them is they’re learners too. They said they deliberately try and write their lyrics to be true to how they really speak, and so it’s meant to be less formal and more casual. They’re also one of the voices singing about life as girls growing up in Welsh-speaking Wales, and they’re the only musicians ever to win the Welsh music prize twice! Icons. There’s a spinoff band 2/3 of them started in lockdown called Tacsidermi, and if you like Gwilym’s song Cwin you’ll love their song Ble Pierre.
Like Yws Gwynedd - there’s a Candelas song called Brenin Calonnau you’ll like. HMS Morris are another really good band, try their song Ceredigion. Chroma wrote a fantastic album called Asking For Angela this year. Check out Sai’n Moyn Mynd Mas! They released this song in English and in Welsh.
I’ll give you a few more alternative and rock bands I really like, I’ll put them in a playlist for you! It’ll have some Welsh language music from rock bands like Super Furry Animals and Gruff Rhys solo, Datblygu, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, big leaves, Y Reu (and their guitarist Lloyd Steele’s work, who wrote some fantastic tunes in lockdown reflecting on identity — specifically about being a mixed race gay man in Welsh speaking Wales), Ysgol Sul, Hyll.
There’s a Gorky’s song that’s not on Spotify that I love, so I’ll give you a YouTube link. It’s an older song though, written before violinist Megan Childs joined the band - Merched Yn Neud Gwallt Eu Gilydd, from the Introducing Gorky’s CD.

The red dress with black lace flowers was hugging my figure perfectly, defining every curve exactly the way I like it. I run my hand over the dress hugging my body and when I feel the silk with the touches of lace all over my palm, I knew the night would be something to remember.
“Earth calling Y/N” I hear my best friend, Emily, who was sitting on the queen-sized bed in the middle of her room, say to me.
"I'm here, I'm here" I say without a hint of enthusiasm.
"Oh, you're still sad about that fight, right?" she says and I automatically lower my gaze.
The fight.
I've never been a quarrelsome person, I've never liked anything that leads to a disagreement, maybe it's because I can't maintain an argument without starting to cry, but that's another story.
With Matt everything seemed different.
I liked that idiot so much that I ended up fighting with him; not out of hate, but because I liked him so much and I just wanted him to understand my side for just a moment.
I hated being kept a secret, I hated the feeling of having to hide and having to act like a fugitive, a criminal.
But I think it's stupid things we do when we're in love.
Emily was the only one who remotely knew about us, well she knew we were more than friends but she had no idea he had asked me to be his girlfriend a while ago.
Matt hid me from everyone, his brothers, his parents, his family and especially his fans. At first it was fun, the adrenaline of hiding from everyone, of taking risks. Over time I started to hate it, I started to want to be free at any cost, even if it wasn't with him by my side.
--3 hours before--
"Matt, you don't understand! I really like you! I don't want to hide anymore" I say, feeling the heavy tears forming in my eyes.
"You don't understand my side! Do you know what they'll say if they find out we're together?" he shouts "they're going to slaughter you, Y/N, that's what they're going to do!"
"I don't care! I just want to be able to have you by my side without having to worry about what the rest of the world thinks!" I say, even louder "shit, not even your brothers know about me! And they know everything about you! It's almost like you're ashamed of me"
"Stop acting like a child" he says, this time with a lower but more rigid tone of voice.
"Fuck you, Matt! I'm not a woman to be hidden, and if you don't want to admit me, fuck you!" I scream, with tears already streaming down my face "we should break up"
"What?"
"That's right, we're breaking up!" I speak, this time lower but with more hatred laced in my voice "t your fans and your brothers that you were too soft to be able to keep a woman like me"
I grab my bag from the beige sofa and walk to the door, when I feel my boyfriend's, or rather ex-boyfriend's, arm grabbing my wrist.
"Please don't go" he says softly, with a small tear running down his face
I shake my wrist until he lets go and walk out the wooden door.
--current time--
“Fuck, Y/N, lost in thought again?” Emily's voice interrupts my daydreams again.
"Sorry, sorry" I say
"Come, the Uber is coming" she says, gets out of bed, and drags me to the front of the house
"I'm not in the mood, Emi" I say "can't we stay home?"
I've always liked parties, and it's very likely that this one will cheer me up after my bad breakup with Matt, but, knowing what the triplets are like and knowing the character of the owner of the party house, it's very likely that I'll meet them there and, if If I meet Matt, my night is likely to end right there.
"We're too hot to stay at home, come on!" She says and drags me when a notification from that app arrives on her cell phone.
The way to the party was short but funny, after we discovered that the Uber driver was, in fact, Emily's distant cousin.
We greeted Emily's cousin/uber and got out of the car when we saw the large party house located at the end of the street.
The place was huge, and had a silver bear statue outside and neon lights going off everywhere.
We presented our invitations that we bought 2 hours before, and entered the house.
Loud music and the smell of weed quickly overwhelm my senses, and I look at Emi as she drags me over to the corner to get a drink.
I order a shot of whiskey; I've never been a drinker, but I think a little alcohol won't hurt, right?
We talk for a while sitting on the metal bar stool, and in a small moment of silence I observe the other side of the 4-story house, and that's where my world stops.
Matt
My eyes meet his and I watch as he walks towards me.
I panic, after all, what the hell can you do when your ex-boyfriend is coming towards you in the middle of a crowded party?
Is pretending to faint really such a bad option?
Before I can put my plan into action and throw myself on the ground, I feel a warm hand grab my arm.
"Hi" he says with his palm on my arm, but avoiding my gaze
"What do you want, Matthew?" I say
"Please, can we at least talk?"
"No"
"Please!"
"She fucking said no!" my friend interrupts, ripping Matt's hand off my arm.
A simple conversation can't end so badly, right?
"Emi, it's okay" I say in a calm voice, and I watch from the corner as Matt's eyes fill with hope "Let's go"
I get up and walk towards the unisex bathroom that was just a few meters away from us.
I enter the bathroom followed by Matt, and I can't help but notice when he locks the door.
"Hey, I think we should talk" he says softly, when I turn towards him with my arms crossed.
"Yes, you already said that" I say "say it, Matt"
"Please, I want you back! Forgive me for hiding you for so long, I think I was just too scared; I don't care what the world thinks, I just want you! It hasn't even been twenty-four hours since I've seen you but I already miss your hugs, so please come back with me...I love you" he says, without pauses and with an extremely shaky voice.
I've never been one to trust others, but something in his tone told me he was serious, and that I could trust him.
However, I couldn't help but pay attention to his last three words.
'I love you'
Shit, I love this idiot too, after all, who could not? His laugh, his smile, and all his flaws, I love everything, and I just want him to know that.
"I love you too, asshole" I say and grab his face in my hands, while pulling him for a kiss.
What was supposed to be an innocent kiss became a make out session, and what was supposed to be a make out session, became something bigger.
Once sweet and calm, the meeting of our mouths was now frantic and needy.
His hands fly to my waist and down to my ass, while my hands roughly grab strands of him.
"You know, I loved that dress, but I would love for it to be on the floor" he breaks the kiss.
"You know, I only bought it so you could take it off" I say and we both laugh as he slowly lowers the right strap.
My left hand is quick to pull the other strap, leaving me now naked from the waist up.
"Holy shit" he says staring at my breasts
"You can touch it" I say and smirk.
His hands fly to my bust, with his fingers pinching the nipples that are stiff from the cold of the bathroom.
A soft moan leaves my mouth and I see his pupils dilate even further, if possible, as he lets out his own moan.
I kiss him again as he pushes me towards the sink, picking me up on his lap and, without breaking the kiss, placing me on top of the sink with my legs open and him between them.
“Let me fuck you, please?” he asks slyly.
"Yes" I whisper with my eyes closed, and I hear his belt being unfastened and the sound of his jeans falling to the floor.
His hands go straight to my wet center, and I feel him tear my panties and make a small caress on my thigh.
"Wow, I liked those panties" I say
"I'll buy you twenty of these, love"
He presses his forehead to mine, hugs my waist and begins to slowly insert his dick into my entrance.
"My god" I say and lock my eyes on his, while I feel a small burning sensation.
The touch of pain is soon replaced by pure pleasure as I feel him thrust his entire length into me.
"Please move" I whisper and plant a little kiss on his mouth, just to let him know it's okay.
And he starts, with slow but strong thrusts.
The wet sound and our moans are all that can be heard in the bathroom with the white tiled wall, the occasional noise of my body against the sink is also present.
And, again, what was sweet and calm becomes frantic and needy.
His thrusts are faster, and I grab his hair with my hands while his right palm goes towards my clitoris, making circular movements and giving small taps.
"Holy shit, I'm going to cum!" I scream and he continues with rapid thrusts
"Me too" he says weakly as he looks at me.
I feel like I can see stars as I collapse into his arms, and I feel thick liquid being poured inside me.
My whole body goes limp as I feel him grabbing me with his right arm and slowly withdrawing his cock from inside me, soon being replaced by his fingers that try to keep his liquid inside my body
"I fucking love you" he says "and I would never be ashamed of you"
And it was at that moment that I knew everything had changed.

Wherever You Go Chapter One
Tom “Iceman” Kazansky x Aviator!reader (Callsign: Thorn)
Tumblr media
Moodboard by @bradshawsbaby
Written for @roosterforme’s Top Gun Rocktober Playlist Fic Challenge
Synopsis: Tom Kazansky made a mistake.
Or rather, a series of mistakes.
He chose to take the assignment as an instructor at TOPGUN.
He fell in love with one of his students.
He broke her heart.
He chose to leave TOPGUN, and redeploy.
Now, he was stuck onboard the USS Nimitz with the woman whose heart he broke, with no way out.
Unbelievably, that’s not the problem.
Problem is, he still loves her.
Series Warnings: Teacher/Student relationship (but you already knew that) with no real age gap, warnings will be updated as the series progresses.
Warnings: Here be cursing, because these are people in the Navy.
I don’t think there’s anything else, though.
Author’s Note: “It’s only going to be a oneshot.”
Yeah, freaking right.
This took forever (become a church musician, they said, it’ll be fun, they said, you’re in charge of the choir for the Advent season and Christmas while the choir director is on medical leave), but I’m fairly happy with how this turned out.
I think.
The impostor syndrome do be impostoring.
Thank you so, so very much to @roosterforme for hosting the Top Gun Rocktober Fic Challenge, and for allowing me to use one of my favorite 80s rock ballads, “The Flame” by Cheap Trick.
Lyrics from the song will be peppered in throughout this series, because it’s too good not to, and the song is the reason this story exists, as it is what birthed the plotline.
A huge thank you and shout out to @thatsrightice, who helped me so much with the hop maneuvers, by researching the F-14 and A-4 high and low for me.
Special thanks also to @valmare, the fact that I am writing Tom Kazansky x reader! fic is all your fault; but thank you so much for dragging me down with you, it’s been an absolute joy!

Previously on “Wherever You Go”…
And as he ate Carole’s heavenly consolation in a cookie, Tom reflected on just how he’d ended up in this position.
Two months ago…
“So, you looking forward to teaching the next generation of stick jocks like us, Ice?” Mav spoke, barely intelligible around the food he had in his mouth.
“I’m sorry, I don’t speak whatever language that was, because it definitely wasn’t English.” Tom deadpanned, looking up from his forkful of the fairly-decent facsimile of scrambled eggs from the famed Officer’s Mess Hall of NAS Miramar.
Mav rolled his eyes and hastily swallowed his own forkful of eggs. “I said, are you looking forward to teaching the next generation of pilots like us, Ice?”
“Like me?
Yes.
Like you?
No.”
With Slider’s approval, he had taken the instructor assignment after it was offered to him shortly after the Layton, he and Slider wanting a little stability for two or three years—maybe even four—the Layton mission having shaved off what felt like a whole decade from their lifespan.
The fact that he was going to be able to fly and show off—sorry—instruct, was a nice bonus.
And the fact that his wingman, the only other pilot who could hold a candle to him, was also an instructor, was another plus.
They’d kick the asses of the hotshots they were going to teach, no problem.
“Oh, come on, you know I’m the best,” Mav grinned, nearly maniacally.
Tom put his scrambled eggs in his mouth, and made a show of chewing and swallowing, before replying, “Second best,” gesturing with his fork.
“I’m the best and you know it,” Mav practically vibrated.
Tom squinted at his wingman. “How much sugar did you put in your coffee?”
The other pilot froze guiltily. “I’m sorry.”
He sighed—hyper Mav was even more of a chaotic gremlin than normal Mav.
The younger man had an incredibly high, almost unnatural, tolerance for sugar, but put enough of it in his system, and you got one Pete Mitchell who could fly without a jet.
Tom had personally seen the other man put what seemed like half a sugar bottle in one cup of coffee. “Why?”
Mav pouted, looking like a child, and not the twenty-four year-old naval aviator he was. “I just wanted to indulge myself a little, Ice, ‘cause, you know, we’re instructors—together—we’re gonna kick ass—it’s gonna be great!”
“I know we’re gonna kick ass, but you’re not going to be able to instruct if you’re vibrating so much they can’t even see you,” Tom chuckled, shaking his head, trying to figure out how he could burn off Mav’s extra energy before they, along with Viper and Jester, had to head to the classroom to greet their new students later that morning.
“I know—but I just wanted something a little sweet as a treat,” Mav murmured, green eyes cast down and glazed with shame, and he got a glimpse of the child his wingman must have been over fifteen years ago.
He softened on the younger pilot, and reached out to ruffle the raven hair with a soft smile. “‘m not mad at you, Mav, it’s okay.”
Mav pulled away with a grimace and a slap at Tom’s hand, before fussing with his dark hair, but the familiar light returned to the other man’s eyes, though with considerably less mania than two minutes ago.
They continued eating, but Tom’s devious side reared its head. “You do know what this means, though, right?”
“Wha’?”
Tom nearly laughed right there.
Mav had half a forkful of eggs balanced on his lower lip.
“You and I are going to go for a little run around the south hangars, to burn off that energy.”
An intense green stare fixed on him, clearly considering. “Okay, fine—I might… might have overdone it a little bit with the sugar packets.”
“A ‘little’, huh?
Good for you, bud, getting more self-aware.”
“Fuck you, Kazansky,” Mav smirked.
“No thanks, not in the mood,” Tom grinned. “Come on, finish up, so we can get a decent shower after our run.”
Tumblr media
“You okay there, old man?” came the smug voice not far above his head.
“Two—two years, that’s all you have on me, Mav,” Tom muttered, massaging the ankle and knee of his right leg, stretched out on the bench of the instructor’s locker room, mentally cursing the old injuries he’d sustained there from a bad ejection he and Sli endured during one of their first deployments, on the Constellation, when the arresting gear failed because a new crewman didn’t check the weight on the valve of the wire.
It was why he had to wear a wrap on his knee and ankle whenever he and Slider played volleyball.
Mav continued, “You know I was gonna kick your ass running even if I wasn’t amped up on sugar, right?
Tall people wear out faster—that’s what you get for being freakishly tall.”
Tom frowned. “If I’m freakishly tall, what’s Merlin?”
Long pause.
Smirk.
“No,” Mav accusingly pointed, “I refuse to fall for that—I will not speak ill of my RIO, even though I’m his teacher.”
Tom chuckled.
Merlin had been lucky to be selected for TOPGUN again, though it was with the caveat that he wouldn’t be able to win the trophy in his session, as his pilot was going to be an instructor.
Merls had taken it well in stride, glad to be at TOPGUN, even if it meant he’d only graduate, as a reserve RIO for his session.
“Hey, did you hear?
History’s being made this session—we’re teaching the first female naval aviator selected for TOPGUN,” Tom remarked, once he’d eased the ache in his knee and ankle.
“Yeah, I know—and I know her; hell of a pilot,” Mav nodded. “Hell of a woman too.”
“Oh?” a blond brow rose wryly.
“Yeah, I met her two or so years ago, when the Black Aces chopped in on the Big E.
Callsign’s Thorn.
And don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?”
Mav’s voice was slightly muffled as he dug through his locker for a stick of deodorant. “Like you think I know her… carnally.
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t flirt with any woman with a pulse.”
“Only most,” Tom nodded sagely, a smirk tugging his lips, even though his wingman couldn’t see it.
A finger was flipped in his direction over a shoulder. “Get in your khakis already, Icy-Hot-Man.”
He rolled his eyes, “Fuck you, Mav.”
“No thanks, not in the mood,” Mav threw back, and the shit-eating grin was audible in his voice, which made Tom secretly smile, to know his wingman and brother was happy.
After the two of them managed to get into their khakis in record time, they came up to the building with their classroom right with Jester and Viper, who spotted them and waved off their salutes. “Kazansky, Mitchell.
It’s good to see you both.
You ready.”
It was more statement than question, but despite the stoicism on the Vietnam veteran’s face, Tom could see the pride in his CO’s eyes, and the added glint of paternal pride, when he looked at Mav.
Though it made him sad to see that, reminding him of what he used to have, Tom was glad that the other aviator had a paternal influence in his adult life.
He’d had one before—Mav, on the other hand, hadn’t.
He really missed his Dedushka.
He pushed the thought away in time to see Viper gesture to follow him and Jester inside.
They all slipped their garrison caps off once they were under the fluorescent lights of the building, and the classroom door was in sight after a short walk.
“Alright,” Viper sighed, gaze running across all of them, a smile reminiscent of his callsign on his face, “time to school another batch of hotshots.
Let’s begin.”
The two wingmen exchanged a little grin, before squaring their shoulders and following Jester inside as Viper trailed behind.
“ATTENTION!!” Jester barked, striding to the front, Tom and Mav moving to the right side of the classroom, opposite the TV, following the order like everyone else in the room.
“At ease.”
At this, they all moved to parade rest, Tom and Mav having the luxury of clasping their hands before them, while Jester picked up a clipboard. “I will be calling out the driver and RIO teams.
After I call both your names, make yourselves known.
Lieutenant Solomon Bates, callsign “Warlock”, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Kenneth Han, callsign “Shogun”.”
“Present, sir!” an Asian man about Tom’s height, and a tall African-American man enthusiastically chorused.
“Lieutenant Stephen Ruth, callsign “Babe”, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Timothy Martin, callsign “Priest”.”
“Here, sir!”
“Lieutenant Edward Arellano, callsign “Belter”, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Gabriel Presleigh, callsign “Elvis”.”
“Yes, sir!”
Lieutenant Henry Baker, callsign “Snackbar”, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Matthias Novak, callsign “Links”.”
“Sir!”
“Lieutenant Julian Howell, callsign “Ash”, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Randall Simmons, callsign “Igor”.”
“Up and ready, sir!”
The pilot, Howell, it was plain to see, had an arrogant, smug look on his face, almost like he felt it was inevitable he’d be at TOPGUN, and Tom sent Mav a sideways glance, which the other man returned.
Any hop with that particular pair was going to be interesting, and it was clear from the look on his wingman’s face, that his immediate dislike of the pilot was shared by Mav.
Tom looked forward to him and Mav educating Howell as to who were the best pilots, in the final hops.
“And finally, Lieutenant __ __, callsign “Thorn”, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Emmett Kinford, callsign “Romeo.””
“Yes, sir!” came a resonant alto and an even, low baritone, the call jarring insofar as it was to hear a woman’s voice mixed with that of a man’s in this room, heretofore the demesne of men.
Both had even expressions on their faces, pilot and RIO gazing straight ahead, while the OCD part of Tom’s mind registered that their khakis were in better form than even his own, ribbons not the slightest bit out of place, with creases you could cut yourself on, and that was saying something.
Her hair was carefully pulled into the regulation tight bun, not a single strand out of place, and her RIO’s dark waves were also the picture of military perfection.
“You may be seated.” Jester said after a beat, casting his gaze shrewdly around the room. “I am Commander Rick Heatherly—callsign Jester.
I am the Executive Officer of Fighter Weapons School, known to all naval aviators as TOPGUN, and your Lead Opposing.
Each one of you have been selected for a very specific reason; to become the best of the best’s best.
Blinds.”
The room went dark as the blinds were shut, and the familiar video began playing, the familiar speech being recited.
Soon, Jester finished his speech, calling for the blinds to be opened.
Light flooded into the room, and Tom fought to look dignified, not squinty, even as the sun assaulted his eyes.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to your Junior Instructors, and this school’s Secondary Opposing; Lieutenant Tom Kazansky, callsign “Iceman”, and Lieutenant Pete Mitchell, callsign “Maverick”, last year’s Top Gun, and second place finisher respectively—”
Both he and Mav somehow straightened further, nodding professionally at their class.
“—and finally, our Commanding Officer here at TOPGUN, the very first man to win the Top Gun Trophy; and there is not a finer naval aviator in the world.
Captain Mike Metcalf—callsign “Viper”.”
Viper strode in and told the first class of ‘87 much the same things he did the flyboys of ‘86, and they all turned to get a good look at the Top Gun Trophy, whose newest brass plaque bore the engraving “LT T. Kazansky & LTJG R. Kerner — 1986”.
“You think your names are going to be up there?” Viper gazed speculatively at the class.
However, this time, no one filled the silence with an affirmative response—unlike Mav the year before—though Ash and Igor had hungry and yet self-assured looks in their eyes.
“Well, regardless of whose name ends up in brass at the end of these five weeks, at the end of the day, you—we—are all on the same team.
Gentlemen—and lady,” Viper nodded towards Thorn, “this school is about combat—there are no points for second place.
Dismissed.”
“Report to the quartermaster for your housing assignments, you’ll have today to get settled.” Jester called out to the room at large, “and remember, tomorrow’s first class starts at 0800.”
Most of the class quickly shuffled out of the room, but not before a few of them shot Thorn and Romeo, both of whom were still seated, skeptical—and in Ash and Igor’s case, outright dirty—looks, looks which she ignored, though one would have to be blind not to notice the protective menace emanating from her RIO despite the similar expression of indifference on his features.
But once her classmates had filed out, Thorn looked towards him and Mav, her indifference giving way to a radiant smile.
“Mav,” she exclaimed, striding over.
“Acey!” his wingman laughed, pulling her into a hug, briefly lifting her a slight distance off the floor.
“Fuck, it’s good to see you!”
“You too—it’s been too long.”
“Yeah—” here her expression sobered, “and I’m so sorry—I heard about Nick—Ro and I couldn’t believe it.”
“Nick was a great guy, it was such a shock—damn canopy of all things,” Romeo said, having walked over to give Mav a warm pat on the shoulder.
“Thanks,” Mav breathed evenly, a bit too evenly for Tom’s liking. “Oh, uh, Thorn, Romeo, this is my f-friend and wingman, Tom Kazansky.”
All too glad to take the spotlight to give Mav time to breathe, he stepped forward, extending his hand. “You can call me Ice, it’s good to meet you.
Mav’s told me about you, Thorn.”
“Oh?
Only good things, I hope,” she said, shaking his hand.
Her hand had the same callouses he and most fighter pilots had—which gave him a bit of cognitive dissonance, because he was used to only feeling those callouses on other men—with a strong grip, and a confident posture as she looked up at him.
“Practically praised you to the stars and back,” he smiled, letting go of her hand.
“Hello, I’m chopped liver,” Romeo wryly stated as he shook Tom’s hand. “Call me Ro.”
“You’re hardly chopped liver, Ro, you’re the sixth best RIO I know,” Mav interjected, his voice and breathing seeming more like baseline.
“Thank you, I guess?” Romeo frowned.
Thorn broke in, “I gotta admit, for a second, I was kind of worried that you’d suddenly become too good for the likes of me and Ro, Mr. TOPGUN-Instructor and Three-Confirmed-Kills, I swear, Mav, that was the stillest I’ve ever seen you.”
The aforementioned man shrugged. “That’s Ice’s influence.
Got to stand still so you hotshots have a chance to admire us.”
Thorn huffed a light-hearted laugh, but Mav continued, “And I only got those kills thanks to this guy.
I had to lead some of the MiGs away so that he could have one all to himself,” Mav beamed, waggling his eyebrows.
Thorn blinked, “Oh yeah, you’ve got one too.”
Before he could reply, Mav proudly cut in, “Yes, he does—and this guy held out against five MiGs.”
“Sli and I’d have burned in if you didn’t get there in time, Mav,” Tom said, determined that his wingman would get the praise he deserved.
Said wingman turned, eyes narrowed hopefully. “Is this you admitting I’m the better pilot?”
He scoffed lightly, “Any pilot would have trouble against five adversaries, the best or not.”
“I’ll get you to admit it one day,” the diminutive pilot muttered.
Tom clapped Mav on the shoulder. “Today is not that day, buddy.”
Another huffed laugh had the two wingmen remembering that their students were still in the room.
Romeo was shaking his head in the way of those who have fondly dealt with the inimitable Pete Mitchell, and Thorn had a small smile on her face, but it was no less bright than the one she had when she greeted Mav. “You look good, Mav.”
“Uhh… thanks?
But I always do.”
Thorn scoffed, and Romeo rolled his eyes so hard, Tom was surprised the RIO didn’t pull something.
She turned to him, a look in her eyes that spoke as if he had passed some test he didn’t know about, turning the tables on him, her instructor, and they weren’t even in the air yet. “You keep taking care of this Firebird for me, huh?”
Something about receiving her unsought approval shot a bolt of feeling through him, searing through his being, like standing in the middle of a lightning storm. “Of course.”
“Good,” she breathed, her small smile turning to a grin. “I guess—I guess Ro and I better go, because I’m sure our classmates got the good housing already.”
“We’ll accompany you to your housing, once you get your assignment—the uh—” he cleared his throat and sniffed, “the housing here is laid out pretty weird.”
Tom could feel Mav’s gaze snap to him at a practically supersonic speed, but he ignored it, in favor of shooting Thorn a charming, if not slightly awkward, smile.
Her head tilted at a slight angle, keen gaze analyzing him like he was some sort of problem she couldn’t quite solve. “If that’s what you want to do with your time, sure thing, sir.”
His brain shut down on him for a split second, for some odd reason, but he managed to evenly reply, “We’re the same rank.”
“That shiny Junior Instructor title of yours begs to differ, but whatever you say… sir.”
A nudge at his side snapped him out of whatever strange fugue his brain was trying to drag him into.
He’d have to get more sleep, he figured.
“What’d I tell you, Ice?
Sometimes I wonder if Acey here should have been the Firebird instead of me—because I’m well on my way to becoming an ace, as you all know,” Mav declared.
“Imagine being deployed with this for months,” Thorn sighed, but with a teasing glimmer in her eyes.
“Imagine agreeing to get stationed with him, and being his wingman,” Tom reparteed.
“Oh, I can,” she nodded knowingly. “I have stories, by the way.”
“Oh?
Do tell,” he grinned, playfully ignoring the groan from his wingman.
She blinked, her expression frozen for a split second, before she gestured to the aisle, “Mind if we walk and talk?”
“At your leave, Lieutenant.”
She shook her head slightly, but strode onwards, their strides matching in less than half a beat. “So there was this one incident with some shaving cream…”
When the four of them arrived at the quartermaster, as Thorn predicted, her and Romeo’s classmates were long gone.
“Hello, shitty housing,” she muttered, as she and Romeo approached the quartermaster, while he and Mav stood a ways behind.
“You’re being weird.”
“What?” Tom turned to see Mav staring at him like he was an F-14 requiring diagnostics and a shit-ton of maintenance.
“I said you’re being weird—”
“Yeah,” he slowly began, “I heard you the first time, Mav, what do you mean?”
“You—you’re being… nice,” was the other aviator’s perplexed reply, accompanied by an equally consterned gesture.
It was his turn to stare. “I am nice.”
“Uh-huh, but you’re not usually this—this, to people you don’t know.
Who are you, and what have you done to my wingman?”
If Tom were to be honest, he himself knew that he wasn’t exactly acting in character, but there was just something that tugged him to… be warmer towards Thorn and Romeo.
He put it down to wanting to repay the TOPGUN students for being kind to his brother, when not many others were.
“Any friend of yours is a friend of mine, Mav,” he said, sounding somewhat lame to even his own ears, truthful as it was.
“Okay, sure,” the other man nodded, in an extremely distrustful tone.
“Got it!” Thorn declared, she and Romeo marching up. “Let’s see what Government Issued shanty we’ll be put up in, shall we?
Looks like we’re at… 315 Vraciu.”
Tom spoke up. “That’s not bad, I think; a couple of our classmates last year were put up in that same housing—Charles Piper and Marcus Williams—and I don’t think they had any problems.”
Romeo clicked his tongue, “Well, that’s a first—less-than half-decent housing’s usually par for the course for me and Thorn.
This’ll be a refreshing change.”
Tom would never understand why good pilots were blamed for things they couldn’t change, Mav for his father’s “betrayal” and his own unconventional flying style, and Thorn for her gender, through relentless hazing and/or poor treatment.
If he ever rose high enough to change things, he swore he would.
Tumblr media
The housing was a basic, cookie cutter home a little over a five minute drive from the main TOPGUN building, and on the way there, Thorn and Mav were seated in the back of Tom’s truck, catching up, while Romeo sat shotgun.
Glancing in the rearview mirror, Tom saw that both pilots were animatedly discussing things that had happened since the last time they saw each other, including the infamous inverted-over-a-MiG situation.
“Are they always like this?” he said in sotto voce to the RIO beside him.
Romeo flicked his dark gaze to the backseat, a soft smile on his face. “Yeah.
It’s nice to see her happy.
Not a lot of people think much of her, since she’s a woman, you know.
But Mav, he and Goose, they never saw that, they just saw a good pilot, and I’m grateful.
They were the only ones who wanted to fly with us.”
Tom frowned in disbelief. “You’re kidding.”
If Mav was singing her praises, she must be a phenomenon in the sky—who wouldn’t want to be part of that?
“Nope.
They were the only ones who volunteered, so they kind of got stuck with us that whole deployment.”
At this point, they arrived at 315 Vraciu, and they all hopped out, the two students carrying their seabags to the door.
Thorn unlocked the door, she and Romeo tossing their bags in the entrance. “Well, thanks for the ride,” she nodded, Romeo doing likewise behind her.
“No problem, my pleasure,” Tom replied, clasping his hands behind his back.
“I’ll see you both around, I guess.”
He imagined that her eyes lingered longer on him than they did on Mav, and… he didn’t exactly know how he felt about that.
Mav threw off a nonchalant salute while he sent a respectful nod, before they moved to go back to his truck.
They were halfway there when they heard, “Hey Mav!”
The two of them halted, turning to see the fire of challenge in Thorn’s brilliant eyes. “You gonna take it easy on me?”
Mav scoffed, “You think I’m an idiot?”
She carefully maintained a blank look, and Mav flipped her off with a grin.
Her expression sharpened, gaze landing on him, callsign all too accurate, as the edge of defiance in her voice rang through the air. “And how about you—are you going to take it easy on me?”
He had to admire her for that already.
“If you’re as good as Mav says, that’d be a damn injustice.”
Her answering smile was dagger-keen. “Looking forward to seeing you up there, then.”
Something in him thrilled to the thought of having another worthy opponent in the sky. “It’ll be a highlight of my day, I’m sure.”
“We’ll see.”
Though not unkindly, the door shut in their faces soon after.
Tom stared at the door a moment longer, before again turning to see Mav frowning.
“You’re really being weird.”
“…Shut up, Mav.”
Tumblr media
“Alright boys—just to remind you, we have the classes in the morning, and we’re going up in the afternoon.
For the first hop, it’s going to be Jester against Thorn and Romeo, Mitchell against Warlock and Shogun, then Ash and Igor.”
An unexpected wave of disappointment washed over Tom as he realized Viper’s hop arrangement meant he wouldn’t get to fly against Thorn the first day, but he managed to keep most of the expression off his face, especially with Mav treating him like a problem to solve the whole rest of last night.
Indeed, the shorter man was and had been surreptitiously studying him.
“Which leaves me with Belter and Elvis, and you, Kazansky, with Snackbar and Links, then Babe and Priest, for the second hop.”
Just a banner day for Thomas Kazansky, wasn’t it?
Couldn’t fly against Thorn, and didn’t even get to school Ash and Igor.
“Everyone understand?”
A chorus of “Yes, sir!”s rang through the room, and Viper nodded, pleased.
“Dismissed, then.
To your classes, gentlemen.”
Viper knocked a fist against the table twice before he and Jester departed the briefing room.
Tom gathered his folders and looked at his wingman, who was neatening a very short stack of papers. “I was hoping to have first crack at Ash and Igor,” he muttered.
“I know,” Mav smirked.
Resigned, he sighed, “Well, kick their ass extra hard for me, will ya?”
The smaller man’s smirk took on a devilish quality. “I’ll draw first blood, then you wipe the floor with them, and us together, it’ll be game over,” he stated, as he extended a fist.
“Sounds like a plan,” Tom nodded, sealing the agreement with a fist bump.
As he bent to pick up his attaché case, Tom’s eyes were again drawn to the minuscule stack of papers the other man had. “You got the material for your class today, right?”
“Uhhh, yeah, sort of,” Mav shrugged.
“‘Sort of’.
What exactly do ‘sort of’ class materials look like?”
Mav spread his hands, and he knew. “In all honesty, I was gonna just kind of wing it.”
Tom honestly should have seen it coming—but Maverick mavericking was what made Maverick, Maverick.
“Okay,” he replied, trying to hide his grin. “Sounds good.
Good—good, good.”
He managed to hold his laughter in until he reached the hall, but even then, an “Up yours, Ice!” followed him around the corner.
Tom’s class went smoothly, and after a lunch that he eagerly finished, he eventually found himself in his flight gear, fidgeting in the instructor’s ready room.
Having completed his preflight, he decided to chalk his restlessness down to the novelty of flying an A-4, a single-seater, with no Slider in his ear or backseat, as he listened intently to the comms for the first hop, Viper doing the same across the room.
Mav and Jester engaged Warlock and Shogun, and Thorn and Romeo, respectively, once the Commander called “Fight’s on!”, and Mav made short work of Warlock and Shogun, getting tone on the other pilot and RIO in a little over two minutes.
Commendable, in his opinion, for their students.
Mav called for them to knock it off and return to base, before moving on to Ash and Igor.
It was then that he realized that Jester was still engaged with Thorn and Romeo.
Romeo was evenly calling out altitudes, positions, and break directions, while Thorn composedly called maneuvers out, interrupted only by the sound of the two aviators g-straining, the F-14’s engines in the background.
He briefly turned his attention to Mav, who had engaged Ash and Igor; the two were, as he predicted, scrambling wildly for their “lives” (and based on what he was hearing, would get tone locked in a matter of seconds), in radical contrast to Thorn, who was calmly holding her own.
In his head, he could see a vague picture of what was going on up there with Jester, Thorn, and Romeo, and Tom realized that he wasn’t sure how it was going to end, the sound of Mav getting tone on Ash and Igor fading into the background.
Tom could hear the strain in Thorn and Romeo’s voices as they fought more g-forces while calling movement and other things out—they had to be at or near corner speed to make them sound like that.
Tom could hear the faint, steady beeping which warned of imminent tone lock, and he hoped she would win this, if only to prove his wingman’s faith in her skill correct.
Just as the beeping grew faster, Thorn muttered, “Just a little… come on, come on…”
He leaned forward in his seat, and realized he was holding his breath, but he couldn’t bring himself to inhale.
Then suddenly, the blare of confirmed tone.
Disappointment for her sake sank in his stomach, but only for the briefest moment, because the voice which triumphantly called out “Good lock!” was distinctly female. “That’s a kill, Commander!”
And Tom could breathe again.
Holy shit, Mav was right—she was a hell of a pilot.
Thorn managed to keep too much of the gloating out of her tone, but it was a fairly narrow thing, and in his opinion, it was justified.
A faint sound caught his attention—if he didn’t know any better, Tom could have sworn that that was a… fond chuckle that came from Jester.
“Copy kill.
Well, knock it off, Lieutenant, and RTB.”
“Yes, sir!”
Without really thinking about it, he went to the flight line, in time to see the three F-14s and two A-4s land.
His eyes were drawn to her jet as she pulled in to the flight line, and he was faintly aware of Mav’s A-4 pulling up beside his.
She’d done the impossible; Thorn, a female naval aviator, got chosen for TOPGUN, and got tone on her instructor the first day.
Technically, that wasn’t anything new—Mav had done similar—but in a sense, it was.
Women were just starting to be seen as capable of being in the military, in combat roles, to be exact, and to see a woman do something that had been the domain of men for decades, centuries, and do it just as well as a man—better even; as evidenced by the fact that in her hop, she was the only one to get tone on her instructor…
He really had to admire that—admire her.
“That good enough of an ass kicking for ya, Ice?”
Tom was snapped out of his introspection from the sudden appearance of his wingman at his side, running a hand through his hair, helmet under his arm.
“What?”
Mav grinned, “I got tone on Ash and Igor in roughly a minute or so.
How the fuck those two got picked for TOPGUN eludes me.”
Tom scoffed and shook his head in agreement. “Bet I can get tone on them faster, though.”
Mav slapped him on the shoulder, “We’ll see, Ice.”
A sudden whoop of jubilant laughter drew his gaze, and he could see Thorn about thirty paces away, coming ever closer, and his breath caught in his throat—her mouth was split in a beaming smile, wild and passionate, illuminating her from within with effervescent joy, her shining eyes endlessly reflecting her exhilaration.
Her bun was coming slightly loose, tendrils of hair framing her face and swaying in the breeze, while her flight suit clung to her figure, helmet dangling insouciantly from her fingers; it was decorated with a briar all over, red roses among thorns made of black aces, and it had her callsign across its brow.
Her eyes landed on him, and her smile took on a mischievous quality. “We got Jester, nailed him on the first day.
You gonna be ready for us?” Then, as if she only noticed Mav next to him at that moment, she amended, “Both of you?”
He grinned, just shy of showing too many teeth, nonchalantly stepping closer, shifting his weight to lean towards her, hip slightly cocked to keep his balance, barely paying any mind to the tension in Romeo’s stance behind his pilot. “We’ll see who gets tone on whom first.”
Thorn smirked as she looked him up and down, teeth tugging her bottom lip for the briefest moment before she clicked her tongue, “Good thing I’ve got front row seats for that show, then.” She pivoted on her heel, walking backwards as she sent him a casual salute, before turning to stride back to the locker room, Romeo following her with a minutely narrowed glance over his shoulder at him.
“Huh.”
He turned from watching the pilot and RIO, to see Mav again at his side, glancing back and forth between him and Thorn and Romeo.
Tom frowned, “What ‘huh’?”
“Nothing, nothing,” came the too-quick answer. “Just huh.”
“…Now who’s being weird?”
Tom’s hop with Viper was not quite as interesting as Mav with Jester’s, though he did have to commend all three pilots for holding out for a few minutes, which was more than Ash and Igor could say.
The debrief was a thing of beauty—going in reverse order from lowest to highest hop score, meant that he got to witness Mav positively eviscerate Ash and Igor as the first order of business, and the sheer stupidity that Ash displayed in the air, made Tom wonder what guardian angel or deity sent this idiot to TOPGUN.
He mentally saw a dozen different maneuvers that Ash could have done, that, while they might not have gotten him tone on Mav, they would have helped him last longer against the other pilot.
The debrief drew on, Tom stepping forward when it was his turn, not sparing the other pilots their vivisections, though theirs were not quite as harsh, by sheer dint of them not being as idiotic as Ash and Igor, and finally, it was the debrief he was waiting for; Thorn and Romeo’s.
He had an idea of what happened in the air, but he wanted to know what exactly she had done.
It was textbook and yet genius.
He was right; once they hit the merge, flying at corner speed through a series of turns, Thorn had maneuvered to force Jester to increase his turn rate, bleeding his airspeed, playing the Skyhawk’s weakness against it, before before placing him in her sights.
“…all in all, great work, Lieutenant,” Jester complimented, writing her hop score of 5 on the board, the highest number of all the teams that day, sending her a nod.
Her face was impassive as she replied, “Thank you, sir,” but Tom could see the vindication in her eyes.
“Well, I’m sure you’ve all learned something from your classes and most especially, your hops today,” Viper declared, pacing the front of the classroom. “This is only the first day, and to borrow a saying from our SEAL cousins, ‘The only easy day was yesterday’.”
The Captain stared the students down, pair by pair, searching for something in each of them.
Finally, he stated, “You’re all dismissed.”
After Jester and Viper left, leaving him and Mav, as the junior instructors, to neaten things, Ash and Igor were predictably the first out the door—just shy of storming out, while most of the others looked at Thorn with less suspicion than the day before, a few actually lingering.
While he was fixing the markers, out of the corner of his eye, Tom saw Warlock step forward first, a light smile on his face. “Hey, uh, that was great, what you pulled today—I’m Solomon, but you can call me Sol or Warlock, whichever you prefer.
This is my RIO, Ken, but he prefers Shogun.”
The Asian man genially lifted a hand in greeting, “Really wish I could have seen that.”
Babe chuckled, “Yeah, that was good, wish I’d have thought of what you did, maybe I’d have had a chance against Kazansky—I’m Stephen.”
Priest, his RIO, cooed, “Aw, you embarrassed by your callsign, Babe?”
“Shut up, Tim,” Babe glared.
Priest raised both hands in surrender. “Not my fault your last name’s Ruth—I’m this stick in the mud’s RIO, Tim—call me Priest, that there’s Belter and Elvis.”
Tom almost laughed at the expression Thorn made; the momentary shock on her face was palpable, but it was swiftly concealed—the only reason it registered for him was because he was so used to reading Mav’s microexpressions.
“Thanks—nice to meet you all.
I’m Thorn, this’ Romeo, my RIO.”
Romeo shook hands with them all, a pleasant, but guarded expression on his face.
“You weren’t too bad up there yourselves, from what I heard,” she continued.
“Yeahhh, but who got tone on their instructor first day?
Not this guy,” Priest waggled his eyebrows, jerking both thumbs at his pilot, “and not any of these guys,” making the others groan or laugh.
Tom ducked his head, hiding his smile; he was glad that the others seemed to be warming up to her, he wanted her to have the same experience as he did at TOPGUN—establishing a brotherhood with his classmates.
“—Tom!”
He pivoted to see Mav snapping his fingers close to his face, and he reflexively flinched back from his wingman’s hand in his face. “What?”
He belatedly realized that he’d been saying that a little too much recently.
As if he were speaking to a particularly dull child, Mav spoke slowly. “Do you think I can erase the board now?”
“Yeah, uh, but not the scores.”
“Of course not.
You okay, Ice?”
“Yeah—fine, it’s just a… long day.”
The suspicion in Mav’s eyes didn’t fade as he sighed and nodded. “Feel up to The O Club tonight?
Maybe decompress a bit, have a drink?”
“That sounds great, actually.” Maybe a drink was what he needed, his mind seemed to be all over the place.
“‘Kay—meet you there?”
“Yeah.”
Once he finished with the room, he followed Mav out, sending a look to where Thorn was still talking with her classmates, to see that her gaze was already on him.
Her eyes immediately went back to her classmates, but nevertheless, he felt branded by her stare, like it was a tangible thing, searing through his veins, sending a paradoxical shiver down his spine.
Deep in the recesses of his mind, he could admit it; he didn’t know what it was, but he felt drawn to her.
To what end… he didn’t know.
And that…
That scared him.
Tumblr media
Tom eased his precious Chevelle into a parking spot near the door of The O Club; a rarity, but one very welcomed, given how busy the bar seemed.
(The fact that it was within sight of Mav’s highly recognizable Ninja was a perk—he and Slider had stopped one too many parking lot beatdowns.)
He reached for his Shooters, narrowly stopping himself from putting them on (Mav hated it when he did that at night; “It makes you look like a dick”, according to his wingman), instead tucking them into the pocket of his whites, carefully opening the driver’s door, squeezing himself out of the narrow gap he afforded himself.
The black metal flake paint was pristine, and he intended to keep it that way, it didn’t matter how ridiculous he may look.
The O Club was, as the parking lot showed, busy, full of people in service whites, throwing him back to last year, that first night for the flyboys of ‘86.
He cast his gaze around the bar, peering through the haze of cigarette smoke and the people, searching for his wingman’s squirrelly figure, before a call of “Ice; over here!” pierced through the sound of numerous conversations and the jukebox, before a hand flailed wildly, becoming visible over the heads of the crowd.
Mav had claimed seats at the bar; prime real estate with the place this hectic—he didn’t want to know how the other man had kept the seat next to him free when every Tom (hah), Dick, and Harry were clamoring for a seat at the bar.
He made his way through the crowd, gratefully settling onto the barstool next to Mav, also dressed in his service whites. “Hey Mav,” he greeted.
“Hey; I ordered already, I assumed you’d want your usual vodka on the rocks.”
“Thanks; you know me too well.”
“Kind of hard to miss when it’s literally what you order every single time,” Mav smirked.
Tom rolled his eyes—he was a creature of habit, sue him.
(And if vodka on the rocks reminded him of his Dedushka, what was wrong with that?)
“Seems like all of Fightertown is here tonight,” he muttered to Mav.
“You’re not too far off on that, I saw basically all of our students here,” the other man replied, taking a sip of his beer. “Only ones I haven’t seen are Thorn and Romeo, actually,” he finished casually.
Rather against Tom’s will, something in him lurched forward, his thought process halting, making him feel like he’d just snagged the third wire on the carrier deck.
Despite that, he managed a calm—at least in his opinion—“Oh.”
“Mmm.” Another calm sip of beer from his wingman—too calm.
He narrowed his eyes and sighed at Mav. “What the fuck is that ‘Mmm’ for?”
The dark-haired aviator pulled an expression like he just sucked on a lemon. “What, can’t a guy just ‘Mmm’ anymore?”
“Not when you’ve been fucking weird for the past two days,” he replied, sending the harried bartender a grateful nod as they slid his vodka on the rocks over to him.
“I’m not weird, you’re weird,” was Mav’s reply, and he narrowed his eyes at the muted shimmer of something in the other pilot’s eyes.
He was about to retort when his eyes were drawn to the door, and the bulk of Romeo walked in, his head and whites-clad shoulders peeking above quite a few people’s.
It was mere curiosity, he told himself, that led him to lean to see if his pilot was also with him.
It took a beat, but then, several people in the crowd moved, and he saw her—her hair cascaded down her shoulders, as sharp eyes surveyed The O like it was the skies, dressed, unlike everyone else in the Navy who occupied this space, in civvies; a loose, white blouse tucked into jeans, cinched with a thick brown leather belt at her waist.
And everything seemed to fade into the background, the sight of her drowning out the sound of the bar, and Mav’s howling laughter.
To be continued…

Dedushka: Grandfather
Two years is the real-life age gap between Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer.
The story behind Ice and Slider’s bad ejection actually did happen to a pilot-RIO pair, then-Commander William Switzer and then-Lieutenant (junior grade) David “Bio” Baranek on December 19, 1981, aboard the very same aircraft carrier that I mentioned.
You can read the detailed description of the incident here, retold by Commander Baranek, for the Ejection Tie Club of the Martin-Baker company, who specialize in making ejection seats—including those of the F-14 Tomcat—for pilots and backseaters who have ejected using a Martin-Baker ejection seat.
VFA-41, the “Black Aces”, based out of NAS Lemoore, were featured in Top Gun: Maverick as the squadron of Natasha “Phoenix” Trace, and I thought that would be nice to include that, in this universe at least, Phoenix is a member of the squadron with the first female naval aviator selected for TOPGUN.
Icy-Hot is a liniment that has been on the market since before 1931.
The name of LTJG Kenneth “Shogun” Han is a reference to this scene in the now-ABC hit series, 9-1-1, where paramedic/firefighter Howard “Chimney” Han, played by actor Kenneth Choi, replies that if he weren’t a paramedic/firefigher, he’d have liked to be a Navy TOPGUN graduate, with the callsign “Shogun”.
The names of Henry “Snackbar” Baker, Stephen “Babe” Ruth, and Timothy “Priest” Martin are a reference to both the original name of Leonard “Wolfman” Wolfe—Henry Ruth—and the Martin-Baker company.
The speeches that Jester and Viper give are nearly word for word the same as the speeches that they gave in TG86, with some authorly variation because I didn’t want to rehash the same speeches that we heard in the movie word for word.
Again, VF-1, a now inactive squadron based out of NAS Miramar, is the squadron that Mav and Goose belonged to before they went to TOPGUN, although it must be noted that, like most of the squadron patch designs in Top Gun, the patch design as seen on Mav and Goose’s flight suits, is incorrect and not matching the squadron designation, instead bearing the insignia of VAW-110, the “Firebirds”, who flew the E-2 Hawkeye, which was shown as Comanche in TG:M.
Alexander Vraciu was a WWII Navy ace who downed 12 Japanese aircraft and sank a Japanese merchant ship with a direct hit to her stern.
The merge is a concept used in air combat, where aerial warfighters engage with enemy aircraft by steering their plane toward the adversary—this maneuver is referred to as “going to the merge.”
Corner Speed
Did anyone catch the TG:M line reference?

THIN APOLOGIES / PART 1
SUMMARY ✰ Mark is your boyfriend, and Vernon is your best friend. You're sick of Mark not treating you right, and Vernon is too. He's also sick of watching from the sidelines when he knows no one can make you happier than him.
PAIRING ✰ Idol!Mark x Idol!Reader x Idol!Vernon
GENRE ✰ ANGST & FLUFF
NOTE ✰ This is actually the first story I ever wrote in my entire life three years ago. It’s my baby. I said to myself, I should rewrite this because the original version was written like the beginner I was at the time. I hope you all enjoy. It’s so good.

Tumblr media
Blonde by Frank Ocean has been playing on loop for hours over your speakers. For what seems like days, your gaze has been fixed on the candle blazing in front of you. There are numerous reasons why you can't take your eyes off its flame—the first being that if you do, you'll be forced to see all of the decorations and food you prepared for Mark, who has decided for the third time in a row that you aren't important enough to show up for. All of his favorite things are strewn throughout your living room, unused.
The second reason you can't tear your gaze away from the flame is that you're intrigued. The lavender-scented wax is nearing the end of its life after being used for so long. What happens when there’s none left? Does the flame die peacefully? Or does the jar burn and combust, leaving you regretting not extinguishing the flame sooner?
Sick isn't the word to describe how your boyfriend has made you feel over the past few months. You’ve tried to see the positives of his absence right now, but it’s utterly impossible. What could you say to yourself? At least you got ditched in the comfort of your own home this time, Y/N? And not in a restaurant, or a random parking lot his manager drove you to?
Mark always has his excuses of course. His favorite one to use was that you don’t understand the sacrifices it takes to be an idol. When the two of you first began to have issues, you took those words to heart. You know how much he’s sacrificed to be where he is, and you never wanted him to think you were that girl—the girl who got in a relationship with an idol and acted like she didn’t know what she was signing up for. As time passed, you realized that he was just manipulating you.
He’s so good at it too. Or maybe he’s just an incredibly beautiful man, whose doe eyes could convince anybody that he indeed is a good person—he just doesn’t think sometimes. You just wish he’d understand that you indeed do understand his life, it’s simply his unfulfilled promises that are so incredibly frustrating. Summer Walker once said, “it doesn’t matter how hard I I try, I say it nice, yell it out loud, write it down, I’m tired.” She damn sure was right.
“Why plan a date you can’t come to? Just tell me it’ll be awhile before I’ll see you again.”
“I’m sorry, baby. I thought I could make it.”
Your phone begins vibrating on your coffee table infront of you, interrupting the reflecting that you’re tired of doing anyways. You know it’s Mark, back again with whatever his reason is this time for not showing up. For a second, you consider not picking it up. Maybe if he knew what it felt like to be abandoned, he’d stop doing it to you.
You inhale deeply before picking up the phone, surprised at whose name is popping up.
“Vernon?” You whisper to yourself. You feel a brief burst of happiness before immediately shifting to concern due to the time of night.
You and Vernon have been close friends since debut. Some would say it’s because you two are the English speakers of your group, but you only saw that as a plus in your friendship. In reality, Vernon was a quirky, artsy, adorably curious boy, and you always felt this weird urge to…protect him. You figure he was drawn to how you never judged him, and how open you were about what you referred to as “Vernon’s philosophies”. He got your jokes, and you pretended you understood his. The rest is history.
Tumblr media
Laughter escapes your throat, scaring you simultaneously as you can’t remember the last time you genuinely found anything funny. In the midst of your giggles, Vernon begins to FaceTime you, and you don’t hesitate to answer the phone.
You can see through the phone how hard he’s trying to be irritated with you, but you also notice how bad he’s failing at doing so. The corner of his pink lips are twitching, and his hooded eyes are melting along with it as neither of you break virtual eye contact with each other. This only makes you laugh even harder. His flawless features don’t hold long, and he’s smirking boyishly now.
“You really think this is funny, huh?”
“Absolutely.”
“Well you know what I think is funny right now? You’re alone right now.” He jokes.
“Ha ha,” You laugh sarcastically, “Am I really this worthless? Like be honest.” You question, a sad smile naturally creeping onto your features as reality attempts to set back in.
Vernon’s eyes roll aggressively, followed by a deep inhale. You know him. He wants to tell you about yourself, and remind you of all the times you promised him you’d have more confidence, just to end up asking him questions like this in the end. It takes him longer than you expected to find kind words to say to you, but you appreciate the fact that he cares enough to spare you, because he wouldn’t do it for anyone else.
“Don’t ever call yourself worthless. He’s the worthless one. If he can’t see how amazing you are, that’s his problem and you shouldn’t just sit here and take it, Y/N. That’s not even like you.”
“But…I love him.”
“Yeah...that always sucks doesn’t it?” He says, almost as if he’s speaking to himself and not you. “I know it’s late, but how about I come keep you company Y/N?. You deserve to be happy for at least a few hours don’t you think?” He chuckles.
He’s no longer looking directly at you. He’s looking at whatever is below him now. Vernon coming to keep you company isn’t a terrible idea. Right now, you so deeply crave to be around someone who actually cares about you, and he’s a clear candidate.
“Yeah! Let me get dressed and I’ll come pick you up.”
“Do really think I’d let you leave your house at this hour to do anything for me?”
“Well, how else are you gonna get here? You don’t have a car and I know your manager is knocked out.”
His boyish smile returns, and you already know a sarcastic comment is closer than around the corner. “You ever heard of uber?”
Now you’re the one rolling your eyes. Was this okay? I mean, the two of you are only friends, but Dispatch nor fans would care about that if they so happened to be stalking you. Him coming over late could turn into a whole situation that you aren’t in the mood to hear about.
“What if you get caught?” You question, although unconsciously do you begin to tidy up in your living room.
“I didn’t.”
He didn’t? Was he already—
Your doorbell ringing interrupts your thoughts.
“Vernon!” You scream through the phone, so many questions running through your mind.
“Are you going to let me in, or are we gonna hangout from outside the door?” He snickers slyly.
You should have known he was up to no good the moment you couldn't identify where he was from his surroundings. All you saw was darkness, but you imagined he was walking around his neighborhood or simply in the dark, because that was so Vernon.
With precision and quickness, you run to the door and open it. You’re still dolled up; face beat like it’s prom night from the date you should’ve been wrapping up by now. Vernon steps in, and for a second it seems like he’s frozen in place. It’s embarrassing, as you often got reactions like this when you dressed up because without an occasion, you were going to choose sweatpants, a graphic tee, and crocs everytime.
“Woah.” He utters.
“What? You just saw me on the phone, Vernon.” You question amusingly before walking to your kitchen to grab him a water.
“Thank you.” He whispers as he takes it out of your hand. “It’s just…you’re so…ugly.”
You know that he thinks you’re going to hit him immediately, so you wait an extra second before punching him lightly in his stomach.
“Shut up!” You laugh, loudly this time. It’s a rare occurrence these days for anything to unconsume your mind of Mark Lee, but Vernon’s doing that with ease right now. “You stay your ass right there and I’ll be back. I should probably take all this off.” You whisper while pointing to you and all your current glory.
“Take your time.” Vernon utters, no funny business in the room now. His smile is gentle as he nudges you towards your room.
You began walking in slow motion down your hallway. “Oh trust me, I will.” It doesn’t take you long to strip down to your natural state. You remove your clothes first, settling on a gray t-shirt you’ve had for years. If you didn’t have company, you’d stop it at that. You decide on some matching gray pajama shorts. The sight of Mark’s clothes in the drawer pisses you off all over again. As you remove your makeup, you can't help but squeal with delight. The wipes that you bought in replacement of the ones that took way too many to clean your face, was worth the investment.
The final touch is your bonnet, which you slip on your head with ease. Your icy feet drag over the hallway floor, a flood of fatigue washing over you.
“Awe.” Vernon coos when you reappear. In the midst of you getting ready for bed, he carefully placed all of the decorations you left out for Mark out of sight in the kitchen. He really wanted to throw it away, but that wasn’t his decision to make. Netflix is waiting for two of you.
“Don’t awe me.” You plop yourself on the couch so hard you’re pretty sure Vernon levitates for a second. You push the button to recline your seat, shutting your eyes right and leaning your head back with a sigh. “Thank you, Vernon.” You say the second you realize he cleaned up your clutter. The room feels less heavy now that you’re not forced to look at your wasted hard work. You feel his gaze on you, but energetically, you can’t interpret why he’s staring at you. You’ll settle on pity.
“Ah, I haven’t done much. Plus, you’ve always been there for me.”
Your comfort turns into guilt, recalling all the times you haven’t been there for your close friend in the midst of you and Mark’s relationship crashing. “Not like this.” You utter.
“Well, no you haven’t surprised me with a big box of donuts and a new video game,” He chuckles, “But you’ve been there for me. A lot of times unknowingly, if I’m being honest. Your presence alone…does a lot for me—I mean, for people.” He rambles. “Plus, I’m one of a kind, anyways.”
A smile creeps onto your features at him teasing you lovingly. You’re beginning to doze off, which typically makes you stare at things unintentionally. Your target tonight is Vernon, who is sitting extremely close to you right now. Your hand begins to entangle themselves in his locs, causing his eyes to flutter in relaxation.
“Enough about me.” You protest softly, “What’s going on in the life of Hansol, hm?”
“Nothing much,” He whispers, enjoying the feeling of your hands running through his scalp. His eyes are stuck on the ceiling, but you know he’s still listening to you. “I’m like a robot these days. I wake up, go to practice, go back to the dorm, sleep, repeat.”
“Why didn’t eat make the list?”
“Oh yeah, that too. But you know me. If I have to pick between sleeping and eating, I’m picking the first option.”
“Oh I know.” You can’t count on one hand the amount of times you scolded Vernon for sleeping too much, even though you do the same thing the second you get a break from schedules.
“Too much of a good thing, is a bad thing, Vernon.”
“Not everything.” He whispers, seemingly dazed out now. You’re ceiling wasn’t that interesting. He has something on his mind, but you’re not sure if you want to pick his brain. If he wanted you to know what’s on his mind, he’d say it. At the same time, you’re his right hand woman, and he’ll just have to deal with you being in his business.
Your eyebrows raise in an interrogative fashion. “Give me an example?”
“You.” He says simply. His eyes lock themselves into yours confidently, but you’re unsure how to feel. What was he trying to say? Is he flirting? Is he just being kind? It’s always been so hard for you to understand him when he gets like this.
“What about me?” Is all you can manage. You’re not sure why you’re nervous now, but you are. You hope you’re not making it obvious that his comment has made your breathing unsteady.
“I’m just saying it’s impossible to get tired of you. ‘Too much’ of you,” he air quotes, “would make the world a much better place.”
“You think so?” You question genuinely. “Mark doesn’t seem to think so.”
“Mark is a fucking idiot.” He spits out.
“I’m not gonna disagree.”
“I mean look at everything you did for him today, just for him to not show up?” Vernon begins to frantically point in all directions of your home, including at yourself as well as your kitchen. “What kind of boyfriend doesn’t come home to this?”
Silence is the only thing you can provide right now. One because he’s right, but two, because you’ve never seen Vernon so riled up on your behalf. He was the one always talking you off cliffs, not the other way around.
“Sorry,” He clears his throat. His voice is back to his regular tone now.
“Don’t be. Thank you for caring about me.”
You don’t know why, but you feel a desire to nuzzle into Vernon’s shoulder, so you do. Naturally, he wraps his arm around your shoulder to allow you more comfortability. Maybe it’s wrong, maybe it’s not, but it doesn’t feel wrong being in his arms right now. You know if you consider Mark, you should pull away, but when’s the last time Mark considered you?
“Is this okay?” He questions, his tone a mixture of hope and concern as he’s likely reading your mind right now. He had a knick for that when it came to you.
“It’s okay.” You decide. I mean, who’s going to catch you?
The two of you lay like that for the remainder of the night, watching a movie that Vernon puts on, but you can't concentrate. All you can think of is how you're lying in the arms of another man, your heart fluttering. That isn't supposed to happen. However, your thoughts are brief because you quickly find yourself dozing off in his arms that feel as if they never want to let you go.
It’s the wee hours of the morning when your phone rings, and then vibrates, indicating someone has called and texted you.
You and Vernon sleep through it.

A/N: Goodness gracious. This chapter is a behemoth. I think I have not written so much in one go since...2019? When the fires of wrath at Tony's death still lived within me lmao (im still mad, but im also tired now) Anyways!!! This took so long because the scenes just kept needing to be written out and out! And the dialogue! So.much.dialogue. Also, WARNING: there are some descriptions and threats of rape/non-con (about ocs and towards Crystal), so, *please* be careful. These ghosts are some real scumbags. As always, English is not my first language and I have no beta. Also, it's near 5AM, so. Any edits that need doing I'll do later. Enjoy!
Part Two: Tortured Souls
“What-t the fuck do you even want!? ” screamed Charles, after the thirteenth time he was transported from the rocks on the shore onto the cold concrete floor. He punched the floor in frustration but it didn’t make any difference: he wouldn’t feel it even if he tore out chunks of it. He’d tried that, digging his way out, but it was no use; the fucking room returned to its original state no matter what he did.
(He’d also tried to break the iron bars on the window, but no matter how much of his hands he burned while trying, it was useless. The only thing it did was multiply the pain when he got thrown into the freezing depths again.)
He clenched his teeth while clothing himself again. He heard a giggle that sent another shiver down his spine and to the very core of his essence.
“Oh, I’m just softening you up, kid.” the witch answered, an incorporeal voice just in his ear. Charles jumped and whirled around, but there was no one.
“Softening me for what !?” he insisted. “How long do you plan to keep doing this for!?”
“Well…until you no longer have any fight in you, of course.” She giggled again. “That’s the best way to break in a new toy.”
“I’m not a bloody toy !” he yelled, incandescently furious. The first dregs of a new kind of dread were emerging, and he didn’t like that one bit.
“You are now. Mmm, the things he’ll do to you when he comes back…”she teased, like the mere thought gave her pleasure. She sighed. “It’ll be delicious .”
Charles choked on his helplessness, and tried really hard to be more angry than scared. He almost manages to convince himself he succeeded.
“See you later, baby. The lake needs time to freeze over, you know.” Just like that, the heavy presence was gone.
Dawn had come while they talked. Still shivering, Charles curled up on the concrete floor, trying to place himself on the faint rays of sunlight. Not for the first time in his afterlife, he wished he could feel their heat as well as he could feel this permanent cold. It felt like he had never known warmth. Like the golden light of a lantern reflected on a pair of soft green eyes had only ever been an illusion.
Still, he kept Edwin’s face on his mind. The furrow of his eyebrows, the twitch of his nose when he wanted to say something and knew he shouldn’t, the sharp angle of his cheekbones….the tempting bow of his lower lip, just begging to be kissed.
God…I wished I had just told you. I’m sorry, Edwin. I’m so sorry.
—- —-- —--
—- —-- —--
By the time Crystal’s alarm went off, it was far past noon already. A part of her wanted to yell at Edwin for letting her oversleep when they were in a crisis, but as she looked around the office and noticed the complete state of chaos it was in, the words died in her throat.
Edwin was dressed impeccably, though, sharp and without a hair out of place. Somehow, despite being only in his vest and coat, he seemed…more put together than usual. When the light hit him just right, he looked like a threat . It was unsettling, and made her feel ill at ease. But she pushed through it, because this was her friend, worried sick about their other missing friend.
Still, the way his fists kept meeting one another, and the now black gloves he wore gave away his agitation; and choked her up a bit. He had Charles’ necklace around his neck, and he was squeezing it between his fingers after every third time he smashed his knuckles together.
“Hey” she said, as she stood up from the couch.
“Good morning.” Edwin said, turning. “We have plenty to do today, but since the places we need to get to are not open before sundown, we have time for you to grab a bite.”
“I’m fine-”she tried to say.
“Crystal.” he interrupted. “You are alive , and thus have certain basic needs that have to be met for your presence to be beneficial to Charles’ rescue.” He took a deep breath. “If you insist on becoming a hindrance by refusing to take those necessary steps; I have no problem leaving you bound here in the office, until I get him back.” The tone of his voice left her no doubt he was completely serious, and would, in fact, leave her trapped in this room.
“Fuck, fuck , allright.” she conceded, as she put on her shoes. “But you will fill me in on what you found in the meantime.” Edwin tilted his head.
“Very well.” with that he turned around and crossed through the door. Cursing under her breath, she hurried to follow him.
—-- —-- —--
Once they were situated in a caffe with her meal in front of her and her earpiece very visible to avoid unwanted attention, she gestured for him to explain. Edwin, sitting across the table, cleared his throat and started.
“As we suspected, I cannot find him through usual tracking spells. This magic user has hidden their signatures too well for that.” He shifted in the seat, looking around before taking out his notebook. “However, I can track the ghost that hired us and lead us right to the trap.”
“Why haven’t you done that already then?”
“Because, first of all, at least back in the church, he had items that made him stronger and managed to escape after hurting Charles but just before he was taken and all the mirrors shattered.”
“So he’s tricky, is what you mean.”
“Exactly. We have no way of knowing if the witch provided him those items solely for the trap or if he has more of them. I’d hate to be ill prepared to face him, especially with you in tow.”
“I can handle myself.” she refuted, tone harsh.
“Crystal.” Edwin waited until she looked him in the eye, which was rare for him so she did. “I may not be very good at social interactions, but I did notice the way he was looking at you. It made me uncomfortable, so I can only imagine what it was like for you.”
“Well.” she said with a strained smile, eyes focused on her plate. “It’s not like it's the first time.” Crystal saw him hesitating on the corner of her eye, and then felt a slight pressure on her sleeve. She looked up and saw him give her a pained smile back.
“I am under no impression that what I experience when I use my disguises is anywhere near the real life, constant feeling of being under scrutiny and threat from those kinds of…men. And while the hardships I suffered when I was alive may give me some insight, it is not the same. But it is not normal and it is not okay.” He looked away for a tick before looking back at her. “In the future, we’ll try to screen these types of clients better. If they cannot treat you with the appropriate respect, they do not deserve our help.” He squeezed her arm once before letting go.
Done with sentimentalities for the time being, he leaned back and busied himself with his notes. Crystal, feeling like she had been punched in the throat, focused back on her meal and tried not to cry.
When enough time had passed that she felt she could speak without sounding choked, she set down her glass and tapped the table to get his attention back.
“You said we needed to go somewhere that wouldn’t be ‘open’ until night. Where is that? Some sort of library, a supernatural store…?”
“Not this time. Are you familiar with the term ‘black market’?” The ghost asked.
“Are you kidding? There’s a black market for magical stuff?” she hissed. “Wouldn’t that just be a regular magical market or whatever?”
“Oh, no. The supernatural world works on complicated networks. Usually, for regular cases, we can go to above board individuals or shops. But sometimes, less… moral objects are needed, and the Obscure Mart is the ideal place to obtain them.”
“Obscure Mart? Damn, you guys really love your theatrics, don’t you?”
“Of course.” he smirked. “That’s half the fun of all of it.” She was tempted to ask what the other half was, but feared getting off track.
“What do we need from this black market then?”
“Ideally, truth spells talismans. The iron chains to contain him are already inside the bag.” he pointed to Charles’ backpack. “Then, maybe some holy oil. Our reserve is quite small, and I’d rather have a larger circle than a small one.”
“Wait a minute. Holy oil? Isn’t that the stuff that can disintegrate a ghost if they touch it?”
“Indeed. Do you remember the abandoned warehouse of the Mc’Call case?” at her nod, he continued. “My plan is to catch unawares, and push him through a mirror into the building. I have already set up a salt circle to avoid him escaping, but I believe a holy fire around that circle will be better.”
“Isn’t that super dangerous?”
“It has its risks, but I think it is worth it. Besides, once you get there, you’ll put out the fire.” He adds.
“I mean, the warehouse is not far from here, but  how do we know that this guy won’t be in, like, Tanzania?”
“These types usually have a pattern. As we’ve seen, he’s lazy, a pervert and from London. I don’t think he’s gone far at all.”
“Fine, ok. Also, truth spells? Couldn’t you just” she waves her fingers “do one?”
“Not at all. As a form of incantation, truth spells are useless. Truth spells talismans are one of the trickiest bits of magic and do work. The runes need to be in a specific pattern, written down in a special paper, with a particular ink, prepared in a confluence of the ley lines and only in certain phases of the moon.”
“Well, damn. Off to the black market we go, then.”
Ignoring the alarmed look from the waitress, she left a tip and got up to follow the ghost boy.

The entrance to the Obscure Mart was hidden in an ancient alleyway, behind a brick wall. Crystal had to bite her tongue not to make any Harry Potter related comments. (She had no desire to listen to another rant about how Rowling did the whole community a huge disservice, since she’d have to defend the world of Harry Potter but not the author because fuck that terf; and she hasn’t got the energy for that).
The market was a lively place, if a bit well, dark. Actual-for-realsies torches were the main source of light. The fires were of multiple colours though, which is cool. There were some stores she could see, but it seemed to be mostly tables and tents at the sides of the very long alley, with some narrow corridors on both sides. It’s not empty, but it’s not packed either. The first person that waved at them smiled, then looked behind Edwin at Crystal, and swallowed.
“Hi, Edwin!” They look behind the teens again. “Where’s Charles?” They ask, barely keeping the smile on their face.
“Taken.” Edwin said, curt. The person talking to them paled and then cursed softly. Crystal bit her lip not to question the wisdom of admitting such a thing, keeping in mind the ghost’s warning before going in: she was not to speak unless directly questioned.. “I need you to point me in the direction of Garreth Gadget?” he asked. Crystal blinked twice and tried not to snort at the name.
“Y-yeah, sure. He’s on the seventh entrance tonight.” With barely a nod in acknowledgment, Edwin kept walking.
The psychic girl saw the person that was just talking to them whisper something in the ear of their neighbour, and how this kept repeating as they walked down the road. As she turned to see the reactions of the beings around them she wished she could take the time to gape at all the crazy stuff. There was a giant ass tank with a giant ass glowing and mean looking octopus wearing a tophat that suddenly pulled all his limbs into a little ball and tried to hide behind his tophat .
“-but who would be this stupid ?” asked a green girl with wings, fluttering agitatedly around her equally colourful friends. Crystal was calling her fairy for now and save the terminology for another day.
“...yeah, probably someone new…” a sinister matronly ghost whispered to the man next to her, fussing over her wares.
“-ou think we’ll have another Bog Witch situation?” asked a… spooky talking tree?? Everyone that heard him shivered in unison.
“ -uck, I hope not. That’d be…horrific.” answered the black cat with the equally black kittens.
Seeing as Edwin had gotten ahead of her anyways, she turned around to question the cat. That was the creature she was most used to, even if they were usually very rude.
“What ‘Bog Witch situation’?” she asked, intrigued.
“Shhh!” The kittens shushed her in unison, eyes wide. They all hurried to hide behind their mother.
“You don’t know about the Bog Witch?” the cat asked, tilting her head.
“ What Bog Witch?”
“Exactly!” the green fairy answered, nodding.
“No, really. What Bog Witch? And why is she so important?” Crystal was starting to lose her patience. There was a very awkward pause. “I’m new to this supernatural shit, alright? Is it some sort of legend or lore I don’t know about? Does it have anything to do with Edwin?”
“... it’s more like an urban legend. About what happened to her.” whispered a goth human boy. She assumed he was either a psychic or a warlock. He kept looking around, like Edwin would suddenly pop up out of nowhere.
“More like what that boy did to her.” muttered the ghost of a firefighter.
“It’s not like it wasn’t deserved.” defended the matronly ghost.
“And what happened to her? Did Edwin… kill her?”Crystal asked, apprehensive.
“Oh, no.” the boy snorted. She relaxed slightly. “ Way worse. He erased her from existence. She and her Bog.”
“Which was an overreaction, in my opinion.” added the tree.
“Erased her from existence…? That can happen? Wouldn’t people notice a whole ecosystem disappearing one day to the next?”
“Not in this case. When we say he ‘erased her from existence’ we mean completely . There are no traces, no records, no memories of them. Us supernatural creatures are the only ones that remember the Witch or the Bog.” Explained the fairy.
“Only faint traces, tho.” The firefighter added. “I assume as a warning.”
“You assume correctly.” Edwin stated, suddenly at her side. Everyone jumped back and quickly scampered away. He grabbed her arm and began leading her back down the road.
“Wait, wait, wait.” she said, stopping. Edwin sighed loudly and turned around, one eyebrow raised. “A warning about what?” she asked.
“About what I am willing to do to get Charles back. There are not many things that fall outside that list.” Crystal shook her head, incredulous.
Before she could question him further Edwin turned around snarling and grabbed a ghost by the shoulder, slamming him against the wall with a single hand. Said ghost was a guy, maybe in his thirties, and looked like the cartoon of a dealer, big brown trench coat and everything.
“Trying to avoid me, Garreth?” Edwin asked.
“Look, kid-”the man started, before yelping as said boy pressed his thumb deep into his clavicle. “Wait, wait-! Whatever you need, okay? I wasn’t sure I’d have what you wanted-”
“I need some truth spells talismans.” Edwin interrupted him. “I’m prepared to pay you handsomely for them.”
“ Truth spells ? I’m afraid I can’t help you there, mate. You know they are incredibly hard to come by-”
“I do. Which is why I know only you would have them tonight.”
“I’m sorry, lad, but-”
“I’ll trade you the immersive copy of the Kamasutra you always try to get your paws on.” The man’s eyes darkened immediately, but he shook his head.
“ Very tempting offer but-”
“Or I can just steal your coat and slice it open until it spills everything you have in there.” Edwin extended his free hand, and swallowing, Crystal put the knife he had given her earlier in it.
“I’ll take it! Of course I will.” Edwin backed off to let him search the inside pockets of his trench then. “I was planning on using it on my lass, but fuck it. These birds can’t mouth off, can they?” he said, licking his lips.
Crystal saw Edwin’s shoulders tense in disgust, but knew he couldn’t grimace; so she grimaced for both of them. Garreth finally took a single sheet of paper and gave it to them.
“It’s the only one I’ve got!” he defended himself at their unimpressed looks. “The wife is tricky, alright? Can never get her with these…”he mumbled.
Edwin inhaled deeply and took a book from inside his own pocket, waving it in front of the man.
“Holy oil, then, for the rest of it.”
“Hey-!”
“I can always give you just half the book and you can see if it still functions as intended.” he threatened.
“Fine, fine!” the man conceded. “Jeez.” He took a little clay pot from another pocket, tapping the waxed seal as he handed it over. “Straight from Jerusalem.”
Edwin pressed the book against Garreth’s chest and turned around, pocketing the talisman and the oil. They both began walking, ignoring the wet sounds as the man licked his lips over and over.
They also ignored the way the rest of the beings in the Obscure Mart hunched over, some even hiding under their tables. On the corner of her eye she saw the octopus still in a little ball, just with ink spilled around it. As they left the market and arrived at the normal alley, Crystal stopped Edwin with a hand on his arm.
“This isn’t like you, Edwin.” she said, softly. “This…brute force? The constant threat of violence? It’s like…”
“I’m Charles?” he finished, sarcastic. “We are not so different in our devotion as it might seem, Crystal.”
“I don’t buy that.” she said. Edwin let out a dry chuckle. “He’s our friend, but-”
“Crystal, you've seen him without me. You have never seen me without him .” he interrupted, eyes stone cold. “I know you think you know how our dynamic works. You think I keep him contained when I’m around, don’t you? Leashed , as some would say?” he smiled, and it was terrifying.  “Oh, dear Crystal....You have got no clue how savage I can be in the shadow of his absence.”
Crystal took a step back, and Edwin seemed to become smaller. He turned his back on her and rubbed his hand all over his face.
“I don’t like what I become when he’s threatened, Crystal.” he admitted, looking at the sky. “I’m aware that I can be quite brutal, and that regret is not in my vocabulary when these things happen.” He inhaled. “But this is the only way I know to get him back.”
“Edwin…” she whispered, tearing up.
“He’s always protecting me , saving me . Just yesterday he got injured and distracted because I couldn’t defend myself. Now I have to be strong for the both of us, and be tough enough to do whatever is necessary to save him.”
Edwin wiped off a teardrop from his cheek, but more just kept falling. Crystal thought ‘Fuck it, they are my boys and I’m not about to lose either one of them’ and hugged him tight. Surprising her, Edwin hugged her back.
“I can’t lose him, Crystal, I can’t .” he whispered, voice trembling. “If you can’t stomach my methods I don’t blame you, but-”
“No, no. ” she interrupted him. “This is for our friend, and as long as you don’t hurt anyone innocent-”
“I promise.” Edwin said.
“Then you do whatever you need to do to find him.” They separated and smiled weakly at each other, wiping the wetness off their faces. “Now, c’mon, we have a perv ghost to find.”
—-- —-- —--
—- —-- —--
After finishing the holy oil circle and doing the tracking spell, they had an address. They found their perverted ghost perving on some girls in a club’s bathroom downtown, of course. Crystal setted off the fire alarm so that the bar emptied as Edwin surprised the man. As soon as she saw them disappear through the surface, she turned around and left. Fortunately it was the middle of the week, so her Uber should get to their location quickly enough.
Edwin pushed the ghost through the mirror with a surge of magic, right into the warehouse’s trap. The circle of holy fire was already alight. Edwin quickly followed suit and broke the mirror to prevent an escape. While getting iron shackles to bound the other ghost with, the man shook off the effects of the spell and got up.
“You again, little boy?” he mocked. “Didn’t get enough of this, did you?” he laughed as he threw a marked stone at Edwin. The boy knocked the stone off course with the chain, and took advantage of the extended arm to get the cuff around it. “ Bloody hell !” the man cursed, trying to shake the metal burning him loose. He desperately patted his pockets with his other arm, trying to reach another stone loaded spell. “Why isn’t this burning you!? ” he yelled.
“It is.” Edwin answered, before reciting an incantation in Latin. “I just don’t care.” He let go of one of the chains as it seemed to become alive, and sent them in the direction of the other ghost.
The man dodged and tried to run, but Edwin pulled from the chain already around his arm and he fell to the floor. The enchanted chain snaked around the man until he was covered in them, then pulled both arms behind his back and locked them there. The man fell to his knees, and Edwin couldn’t stop thinking how much he looked like a worm.
Once that was done, he waited for Crystal so she could snuff off the fire. Ignoring the snarls and the cursing, Edwin took off his notebook from his pocket and revised his notes once more. The list of questions he needed to ask hadn’t changed, but it made him feel better.
About half an hour later, Crystal arrived. Immediately, she broke the salt circle with her shoe and snuffed the oil with the short incantation Edwin had taught her. Edwin nodded in thanks and opened his mouth, but she cut him off.
“I’m staying.”
Edwin agreed to it, shighing.
“Fuck” laughed the ghost. “The black bitch is here too? What a party!” he whooped. They both ignored him.
Taking the talisman out of his pocket, Edwin slapped it against the other ghost’s throat. The ink burned off the paper as it transferred to the man’s skin.
“Do you know where Charles is?” was the first and most important question Edwin had. The man smirked and opened his mouth to give some bullshit answer.
“Of course I don’t, that wench gave me one job and I did it.” Instead, he answered honestly. “What was that?” he asked, alarmed. “What the fuck was that!?” he yelled as he got no response.
“What is your connection with the person that took Charles?” Edwin continued, not letting the disappointment choke him. Of course this lackey didn’t know, it would have been too easy otherwise.
The man tried to bite his lip, but it was useless. The runes glowed and he had to answer.
“That witch?” he laughs. “She was my late mate’s girl. Awesome catch, she is.”
“Why?” asked Crystal.
“Lil’ bit hard to find a bitch that knows how to enjoy herself, huh?” he winked at her as he licked his lips and the blood he spilled. “Hell, sometimes I think she enjoyed it more than we did.”
“...enjoyed what?” asked Edwin, confused. The man laughed as the runes glowed, head thrown back.
“All the girls and boys we completely destroyed.” He said, proudly. Both teens froze . “Fuck, we had such a good run too! There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do, wouldn’t get, for him. Chains, chain saws ? Done. Knives, blowtorches, pliers? Easy. Even got us a speculum once.” he kept on, a sickening longing look on his face. “That was…a hell of a week.”
“Stop.” said Edwin, feeling nauseous. Fortunately, the runes glowed after that command too, rendering the man silent. While the other ghost silently laughed at them, Edwin checked on Crystal. She nodded at him to continue, swallowing.
“What happened to your…friend?” The man bit his tongue again, but the words kept coming.
“I told you, didn’t I? He died. We both did. Went in a fucking gaze of glory.”
“The police killed you.” Edwin stated. “I don’t remember anything about them stopping a pair of…serial rapists.”
“Oi, have some respect for our skills, we also killed them.” he laughed again at their faces. ”And the pigs never found out!” he howled. “Thought we were just robbers, didn't they?”
The fact that these two monsters were still undiscovered sat like lead on the teens' stomachs. They looked at each other and nodded at the same time. They would get the names of the victims, try and give their families some closure. (Make sure those poor souls went to rest in Heaven.)
“And where is your friend now? Is he working with the witch?” Edwin asked. He lasted longer this time, a trickle of blood getting to his chin.
“Nah. I saw him get dragged down by something inside a red light, didn’t I? So I ran. Ran back to our flat, and there I found her. Turned out the shite she spouted about energies and magic and whatever bollocks was true.” He shook his head and tilted it to the side, leaving it there.
“And then what happened? What does she want with Charles?” As the rapist’s ghost bit his tongue, the blood finally reached the runes, and cut through them. They glowed once, twice and then dulled. “No!” Edwing screamed. “What does she want with Charles!?”
The other ghost just kept laughing.
“What are you gonna do now, little boy!? All outta spells already!?” he mocked. He spat on the floor and looked at them with a predatory smile that centred on Crystal. “If you want to hear me talk so much, I can sure tell you what I’d do to this black wench.” He licked his teeth. “Usually my tastes aren’t so exotic , but I’ll make an exception for you, birdie. You look…just so -” he’s interrupted by said ‘birdie’ kicking him in the balls. He wheezed, still laughing.
Edwin, very calmly, walked Crystal back a few steps and stood in front of her, so she wouldn’t have to see that monster’s face.
“It seems I will be extracting the information physically.” he stated, taking off his coat. “You should leave, Crystal.” he said as he took an ornate dagger from his pocket.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to…read him?” she asked, wanting nothing more than leave this place where this monster felt so fucking comfortable. The last thing she wanted was to read this fucking jerk and fill her head with the horrors he had committed, but she would if Edwin couldn’t do it.
“It’s not necessary-” he started.
“Yeah!” the man screamed behind them. “Sure you don’t want her to do this?” he laughed. “Your iron knives don’t scare me, boy.”
Edwin lifted an eyebrow in question to Crystal and she nodded. She started walking away as he turned around and smiled at the bound man.
“Oh, this isn’t iron.” he said, clicking his tongue. Edwin waited until the sound of the door closing before continuing. “This is cursed silver . This is not just going to burn you. This is going to ground you in your body in a way you haven’t felt since the day you died.” He carefully traced the edge of the man’s right eye with the blade. “And then, it’s going to turn each and every one of those sensations into agony .” He laughed. The other ghost swallowed, paling.
“You think I can’t take a little bit of pain?” he still asked, full of bravado.
“ You took my partner away from me .” Edwin snarled. “Do you think I’m only going to inflict a little bit of pain on you?”
“You wouldn’t.” he objected “You’re not corrupt enough.” the man stated, trying to sound certain but looking wearily at the blade.
“Haven’t you heard? I spent 73 years in Hell.” He slowly walked around the bound ghost, to stop behind him and whisper. “And among my own suffering, I learned many, many things there.” Edwin took off his gloves and let them fall to the floor one by one as he kept walking.
“How to unmake someone apart piece by piece is just one of the lessons.” He caught the terrified gaze of the rapist ghost. “I bet you think you know all about that, don’t you?” He stopped and looked him dead in the eyes. “Only you never had the chance to do it all over again. And again. And again .  So why don’t you let me show you?”
—-- —-- —--
Crystal walked outside feeling defeated. She hated it, but she thought that perhaps Edwin would not be able to do it, after the talk they had earlier. And then she would have to read that disgusting mind. She jumped on top of a pile of pallets and shoved her headphones on her head, putting on a metal playlist, just in case.
Not too early, either.
Some really ear-shattering screams begin a few minutes after she leaves. She tried very, very hard to convince herself the screams she heard were coming from the artists.
—-- —-- —--
By the time the screams had turned into choked whimpers, hours had passed. Crystal had resorted to putting on her headphones and turning her music to the highest volume, to ignore it. She knew the man inside was the worst kind of scum on this Earth, but he was still a person. He deserved to be punished for all he had done before and what he had done to Charles. This was all for information, she kept telling herself. She would do a lot of things not to lose another friend.
As Edwin walked out of the warehouse, just in his vest and shirt, she noticed he was… covered in blood would be an overstatement, but not by much. His sleeves were dyed red in places and his bare hands were bright pink. As he approached her, he did a movement with one of his hands and the same black smoke she had seen earlier as they did the tracking spell cleaned it all up, almost… devouring the blood he had had on his person.
“You learned anything useful?” she asked, hopeful.
“Yes, rather.” Edwin answered, before his coat wrapped him up and he fixed his gloves. “We should be going, though, we have no time to lose.”
“What? Why?” Crystal said as she jumped down the pallets she had been sitting on to follow him. Red light spilling from the broken windows of the building was her answer. “He’s moving on? Why?” she asked, completely baffled, as she reached his side. The dude had seen his rapist BFF being dragged down to Hell.
“I…convinced him that it was in his best interest to not be within my reach when this case is through. I suppose he thought his chances of surviving Hell are greater than his chances of surviving me .”
She swallowed a few times, shocked. Noticing she had stopped, Edwin turned around.
“Shall we, Crystal?” he asked, eyebrow lifting.

[1:42pm kst, 231212, wc: 783]
(content warning: jimin and kookie’s enlistment)
conversations written in italics are in english
The bustling of the crowd sounded like a blur to her. All she could do was watch the last two of her members get ready for their entrance ceremony. She watched as Yoongi and Hoseok gave them some last pre-enlistment pep talks and as Seokjin approached them with a joking serious attitude before breaking into a large grin and a fit of giggles.
The internal fight of keeping a smile on her face for pictures was one of the hardest things she had done in recent times, yet she pushed herself to do it for her members. Not only was it the last of her members today, it was also her Busan boys.
“I’m gonna miss you,” she gave Jimin the tightest hug she could muster while rubbing her hand against his buzzcut. “Message me when you can. I know it’ll be at least five weeks, but send me proof of life.”
“I promise, Aegi,” he kissed the side of her head before letting go and bending down to look her in the eye. “You just keep messaging me like we agreed, okay? Everything that happens, I want to know. I’ll catch up right when I’m allowed to check my phone again. Got it?”
She nodded, lips pressed into a tight smile. He straightened himself before giving her a salute, the way he did to his family earlier. She bowed to him, muttering a thank you for looking over her and their country before she was pulled into his arms again.
“One more hug before I go,” he gave her a tight squeeze before letting her go. “I love you, my Busan baby.”
“I love you, too,” she grinned. “For the record, your haircut looks amazing on you.”
If the smallest increase of his smile came from her comment, she was proud
“Makdung-ah,” Hoseok called to her, “come wish Jungkookie good luck.”
Yoonmi took a deep breath as she slowly but steadily walked over to them. This was probably the goodbye (although temporary) that she was least ready for.
She made it to them, looking at her feet, not knowing what would happen if she met Jungkook’s eyes.
“Hey,” Jungkook laughed, “stop being a coward, and look me in the eye, Mimi.”
She rolled her eyes at him and looked at Hoseok with an accusatory expression. Hoseok simply laughed and gestured to look at Jungkook. She did, which she almost immediately regretted.
Twelve years of friendship and being by each other’s side almost every single day flew through her mind at such a rapid pace that she almost got whiplash.
This person standing in front of her has been her number one ride or die best friend for more than half her life. The longest they had been apart from each other that she could remember was two weeks, but they’d usually spend every day or every other day together for the past four years.
And there he was, getting ready to enter military camp where they wouldn’t be able to talk for a while and wouldn’t be able to freely meet each other as often for an even longer time.
She knew these thoughts weren’t just hers, his eyes were watering as well.
“Come here,” he pulled her into a hug, letting her wrap her arms around his neck while he enveloped her around her waist, lifting her up off the ground just the slightest bit.
“You take care of yourself and Jiminie oppa in there, okay?” she mumbled into his clothes, not wanting to look up because tears were threatening to escape her eyes already.
“Only if you remind Haechan that he’ll never beat me on your best friend tier even when I’m away for over a year,” he chuckled, squeezing her tight.
She laughed, though it was strained by her starting to cry, “Of course. It’s you and me, best friends in the entire universe.”
She didn’t bring attention to how she could feel warmth drip onto her neck, just under where his eyes were. It was another two minutes of them just basking in each other’s company before Seokjin approached them, tapping their shoulders.
“As much as I don’t want to do this,” Seokjin gave them an apologetic smile, “we have to separate you two babies. They have to go in now.”
The two maknaes reluctantly released each other.
Yoonmi reached up to wipe Jungkook’s already barely noticeable tears away. “Go and intimidate all those military people with your muscles and tattoos.”
“You know it,” he laughed and violently ruffled her hair, making her laugh. “I love you. See you on the other side, Mimi.”
“See you on the other side,” she smiled at him. “I love you, too.”

Excerpt
“Tea?” Aziraphale managed, as what other way was there to deal with the impending end of everything? He had always felt rather English after-all.
Crowley shrugged, his head deep in the heavy tome. Aziraphale got up anyway, needing something to do. He wandered through the shop, his hands dusting along the covers of books, finally making tea and rummaging around for a bottle of wine for Crowley. Might as well open the best, they weren’t going to age any longer.
He held the cup of tea, and a thin stemmed wine glass between his fingertips, as he balanced the wine on his elbow. The plan was to place the bottle wordlessly next to Crowley, as he often did these days. Crowley would give little acknowledgment until the night was over and only a few drops were left in the bottle.
Their meanderings into the night were less fun than they used to be, mainly scouring books while Aziraphale gave detailed accounts of Upstairs as Crowley furiously paced around the shop. These small touches brought him closer to what they once had, he had that at least.
“Aziraphale!” The scream ripped through him like lightning. He pulled out of his daze, and saw Crowley hovering in the air, his hands gripping the bookshop sofa, the Bible lying half open on the floor.
“Help me.” Crowley’s face was ashen white, his glasses had toppled onto the floor, and he realised in their 6,000 years together he had rarely seen Crowley’s eyes blaze with such terror.
The teacup, wine, and glass came crashing down, leaving rivers of brown and red liquid running along his carpet. He lunged towards Crowley, his heart banging hard in his chest, he grasped at his shirt, yanking him down in one fell swoop. Crowley’s toes floated and scraped the floorboards. He wrapped his arms around Crowley’s chest and squeezed him tight.
“Ngk.”
It had been so long since they touched. Crowley’s ribs dug into Aziraphale's chest, and his hands grasped at the stiff white fabric of his suit. A heavy thick musk, the smell of six thousands years on Earth hit him with full force, Aziraphale cried out a helpless sob.
“Angel, wot is happening?”
“ It’s happening,” Aziraphale’s voice shook. They both turned to the window outside and saw the humans rising off their feet, each one floating towards Heaven. “I thought we’d have more time.”
“I thought I’d go, you know, down there.”
“The Last Judgement. Everyone goes up before they go -,” Aziraphale sighed. “- down. Even the damned.”
“Just my luck to get damned twice.”
“Oh, Crowley,” Aziraphale said. He couldn’t stop himself from burying his head into the crook of Crowley’s shoulder, breathing him in, the smell of him, not just him, but of Earth. The drinks he had, the cologne he wore, the leather from his coat, the wax he used in his hair. All from Earth. His eyes moistened.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered into Crowley’s ear. It was his last chance, he let his lips touch Crowley’s cheek, a gentle kiss, nothing like the one they had shared before. Crowley’s fingers pushed into his back, his feet lowered to the ground.
“Wait -” Crowley said, peering down. “Do it again.”
Aziraphale’s brow furrowed.
“Kiss me,” Crowley growled.
“I -”
“Please.”
And he did.
Crowley’s feet slammed onto the hardwood floor, as Aziraphale’s mouth pressed into his. It was quick, uneasy, a short peck, nothing more. They parted breathlessly.

Rio Manuela ・ England Lionesses/Barcelona Femení
Tumblr media
This is a platonic story with the England lionesses and the Barcelona Femení girls. The character has a given name, but the story is written in second person. I was also bored enough to make an edit so hope you like that as well.
Id love any feedback you guys could give me! English is also not my first language so excuse me if anything is incorrect. Enjoy!
Word count: 3,7k words
It’s been a month since you and your team have won the 2022 EURO’s and to say team spirit was still high would be an understatement. It was one of the many reasons why your team felt like a big family, especially with being one of the younger ones.
You were an incredibly successful player at the ripe age of 24 and by many fans' requests, you had been working on a biography. Although you had been keeping it on the down low, it was no secret.
That is exactly why the team was buzzing today as it was the release day of the movie. You on the other hand weren’t only excited but anxious as well. You didn’t have the best upbringing and you were scared of how the world would react to this side of your story. Moreover you were nervous about the team’s reaction, only a handful of people knew and even they only knew what you let them know.
“IT’S MOVIE NIGHT TONIIIIIGHT!” - Ella screamed as she ran around the pitch as training started. A few of the girls laughed at her excited antics, they too couldn’t wait.
You laughed even bigger as you felt her jump on your back, screeching in your ear when you nearly dropped her.
“All right girls, gather around. We’ll do skill exercises today and a bit of strength training, I need all of you to be ready for the match that’s in two days.”-Sarina called you guys over.
Warming up in pairs you stood in line with the rest as you started training.
You looked up from your feet as you spotted Hempo getting ready to cross the ball. Picking up your speed you jumped into the air hitting a perfect header to the back of the net. Despite it only being a scrimmage in training you ran to the blonde smiling at her and celebrating.
“This is why they call you Barcelona’s bird.”- she grinned, making you chuckle.
“I think it’s also the name, you know, Rio and the movie with those blue birds?”- Rachel spoke up from behind the two of you, most of the team heading for their water bottles as training came to an end.
“Oh, yeah i guess that makes a bit more sense”-You laughed as a look of embarrassment washed over Lauren’s face, nudging her in the shoulder.
“Maybe, but I’m only Barcelona’s bird when I play for them, here, with the national team, I'm England’s lioness just like you guys.”- you smiled at the two then shrieked as they both squeezed the water from their bottles at you. Running away, the other two laughed loudly as they chased you around.
Lucy grinned as she watched the three of you. Turning to the other two as they waited for you.
“Her biography is out today, right?” - Keira asked with a hopeful expression.
“Yeah, god the kid’s so young and she’s got a movie done for her, makes me feel old.”- Lucy chuckled, though with a proud smile on her face.
“Mhmm, the younger ones are really excited to watch it tonight.”- Leah continued.
“Pretty sure the whole world is. I mean she’s one of the best players in the world, it’ll be interesting to see her journey throughout her younger years.”- Leah’s smile faded a bit at that, she was one of the few people that knew, knew the little you shared.
Sitting in the relaxation room of the national team’s facility, all 23 of you got yourselves comfortable. Carrying three bowls of popcorn you thanked Leah and Alessia as they each took one and handed them to a group of girls allowing you to sit down between Lucy and Ella.
“WHO’S READY TO GET STARTED??”- Ella once again shouted forcing you to cover your ears with a smile as the others cheered.
“Okay I was thinking about first watching the trailer and then we can start the movie.” - the others voiced their agreements as one of the girls started the trailer. Sitting back comfortably you crossed your arms over your chest as you waited patiently, this would also be your first time seeing the finished product, seeing the story of your football career.
The opening scene flashed across the screen showing you sitting in your cubby in a locker room, your England jersey proudly hanging behind you, the number 10 and Manuela printed onto it.
"All my life I had to fight, no one believed in me, so I had to believe in myself.”
Your back was to the camera as you walked through the tunnel leading you to the stadium’s football pitch. “To all of you, I have one thing to say. I’m not like you, because I’m not you. I am Rio Manuela.”
As the trailer finished, the girls seemed even more interested in your biography than before. Glancing around you took in some of their expressions before your gaze landed on Leah who smiled at you reassuringly and nodded her head. Smiling back at her softly you turned back around as the movie started.
1998, 𝖣𝖾𝖼𝖾𝗆𝖻𝖾𝗋 10, 𝖱𝗂𝗈 𝖽𝖾 𝖩𝖺𝗇𝖾𝗂𝗋𝗈
Soft cries indicated your arrival into the world, the nurse handing you to your father as he looked down at you with tear filled eyes.
“She’s so beautiful.”- he looked up at your mother, a tear running down his face.
“Have you got a name ready for her?”- one of the nurses asked with a polite smile turning towards your parents.
“Marcia Rio Manuela” - your mother answered, watching as your father placed a gentle kiss onto your forehead, your soft cries subsiding.
2002, 𝖱𝗂𝗈 𝖽𝖾 𝖩𝖺𝗇𝖾𝗂𝗋𝗈
Age 4
“Come on Marcia”- your father extended his arms as he scooped you up, turning back towards the reporter as she asked him something in Portuguese. Quickly getting bored, you got distracted with the short curls on his head, reaching up playing with them as he smiled at you.
Giggling at him you snuggled into his neck as the reporter decided to wrap up with her questions.
You smiled as a few other happy clips were seen playing on the screen. Willing yourself to not tear up, you felt Lucy wrap an arm around your shoulders from your right, allowing you to lean into her.
2007, 𝖲𝖾𝗉𝗍𝖾𝗆𝖻𝖾𝗋 21, 𝖱𝗂𝗈 𝖽𝖾 𝖩𝖺𝗇𝖾𝗂𝗋𝗈
Age 9
Your little feet hurried towards the ball as you played with a few of your team mates. Hearing your coach call you over, you picked the ball up trying to put it under your arm as you walked towards him.
“Listen Marcia, mom is here to pick you up, she said you needed to go somewhere. Go get your stuff, she’s waiting for you.” the smile fell from your lips as you took in what he was saying.
“But coach practice is not over yet, I wanna play.” - you all but whined, not happy with having been interrupted while you were so close to scoring a goal.
“I know amada (sweetheart), but your mom is waiting for you.” - he smiled at you sadly, confusing you but you blamed it on him also being sad about you having to leave.
Nodding your head you took off towards your mother who didn't spear you a glance as she opened the car door for herself, waiting on you as you got in too.
You didn’t dare ask questions after getting a harsh ‘quiet’ after your first two.
The car pulled into the driveway of the familiar family house, getting out and into the house, you watched as your mom pulled out suitcases throwing different articles of clothing into them.
“I wasn’t told until after we landed in England that my father had died during one of his missions at the Navy. I remember I was in such despair as the words slipped out of my mother’s mouth. But I know I was also upset that she took me away from home, from all that I knew.”
You spoke into the camera, sitting on a chair with a gray background behind you. Your face showed one of sorrow as you ran your fingers through your hair.
“I decided to go by my middle name after that, Rio, in honor of my dad. He and I both were born in Rio de Janeiro and he always told me his happiest memories were from growing up there, he loved Brazil, it was his home” a small smile made its way onto your face

Age 12
“Go Rio, drive forwards, come on!”- your academy coach shouted at you as he saw your hesitation. Nodding to yourself you sped up coming face to face with one of your opponents, making eye contact with her you sent her a devious look before megging her and running around her to collect the ball.
Moving past her you skillfully dribbled past four other opponents, looking up you saw you were one on one with the goal keeper. Pulling your leg back you aimed and then watched as the ball soared through the air and hit the back of the net. Your teammates screamed as they piled on top of you, the whistle being blown signaling the end of the match.
The camera zoomed in on your face as you grinned, your coach sending you a proud thumbs up.

Age 14
“Good job girls, practice is done for the day. Go home and rest alright?”- your coach smiled at the young girls as they ran off towards the locker room. Hanging back a bit you took your time getting to the changing room.
Entering you were met with one of the taller girls on the team, a red head. Her name was Grace and she really had it out for you. “You could’ve passed more today.”
A few of the others looked up from their own chatter, now paying attention to what was about to go down in front of them.
“You weren’t open, you can’t expect me to pass to a player that’s clearly being marked.”- you answered her with an unimpressed look, this wasn’t the first time she came for you.
“Oh shut it Manu, we both know it’s only because of your huge ego.”- she seethed her palms pressing onto your shoulders as she tried to shove you back, but you didn't budge.
Raising an eyebrow at her, a small smirk made itself present on your face.
“That’s all you can do? Come on, I thought you wanted that ball.”- you commented with a smug look. Out of the corner of your eye you saw the short blonde girl stand up about to intervene before this would go the wrong way, but you gently shook your head. She sat back down with a worried look on her face.
Focusing back on the redhead in front of you, you barely dodged her hit as her fist grazed your cheek. A collective intake of breath was heard throughout the locker room as she tried again, this time you ducked before hitting your elbow to the back of her knee. You watched as her knee buckled and she fell on her bum. Deciding that you’ve had enough, you made your way out of the locker room.
It was half an hour after practice, all of the girls had been picked up already. You sat against the wall as you seemed to zone out staring at the ball in your hands. The sound of boots hitting the ground woke you out of your trance, looking up at your coach as he exhaled.
“Has she not come yet?”- you shook your head at his question, though you thought the answer was obvious enough. - “I’ll be back in 15 minutes, if you’re still here I’m taking you home myself.”
With that you stood up making your way back onto the pitch which by now was lit up by the big lights. Fooling around with the ball at your feet, you already knew you would have to walk home alone.
Entering the apartment you shrugged your coat off as you chucked your training bag onto your bed. Making your way into the living room you spotted her figure hunched over what you assumed to be paperwork.
“Where were you? My practice ended an hour ago.”- you asked her, rightfully upset as she barely acknowledged you.- “You were supposed to pick me up.”
“You’re here now, aren’t you?” - you scoffed at that.- “Eat whatever you find and then go to your room, I’ve got work to do.”
“Diane failed to act like a mother, I could count on one hand the amount of times she’s cared enough to show up for her daughter.”- your academy coach spoke as he looked back on those times. He sat in front of a maroon background as he scratched his chin.- “I’m glad Rio had the academy, she had us and we supported her through everything.”
You felt a few of the girls glance towards your way, Lucy squeezed your shoulder as she sensed your discomfort.

“We both made our debut for the national team in 2014. She was one hell of a player, I think that’s why many didn’t like her at first. Even when we were younger and in the academy, if she wasn’t looking for trouble, trouble found her. People always looked down on her. And then she’d step out onto the field and prove them wrong.”- Leah Williamson spoke as she chuckled at the childhood memories you shared.
A few videos were shown of your debut, your first goals and first assists for the national team.
The girls’ eyes widened as one of the clips showed you jumping over a defender trying to slide tackle you, the ball held firmly between your ankles before you landed at the other side of her and ran towards the goal.

Hey Rio, why are you still here”- a young Leah Williamson appeared on the screen. You were still in your training gear as you smiled at her sheepishly.
“Well..you know.”- you pulled your lips into a tight smile.
“She didn’t come to the game?”
“She doesn’t come to any of them, never has, said she’s got more important things to do”-you looked at the blonde with a confused expression she dragged you towards the stands where her mother and brother stood.
“Rio sweety, come here.”- her mother wrapped you up in a hug as you reached over and ruffled Jacob’s hair who only groaned at your actions. - “Come on, you’re having dinner over at ours.”
You and Leah grinned as you swung an arm around each other, walking out the stadium.
Behind you Leah smiled fondly at the memories grabbing ahold of your hand as you reached it out to her and squeezed it.

“I met Rio this year actually. She amazed us all right in her first training session. We quickly became friends, because we both were the rookies of the team.”- Maria Leon, Mapi laughed into the camera. - “She’s got this amazing personality too. I remember this one time -it was actually when she got her nickname- I remember she scored a banger of a goal with an assist from me and I was so happy I just ran through her legs and lifted her onto my neck”- she laughed out loud, her voice fading as the clip played on the screen, both of your younger selves laughing loudly at each other as someone - you assumed Leila Ouhabi- filmed the two of you, laughing along before speaking up.- “And there goes Barca’s bird”

“What was your favorite goal of the season so far?”- the interviewer asked you in a post match interview, your hair still damp with sweat and a bit out of breath.
“That absolute rocket I just scored!”- you exclaimed happily, adrenaline still coursing through your veins from the win as you pointed your thumb behind you to the pitch. The rest of your team was seen dancing around and celebrating.
“How does it feel to score a winning goal in the Copa de la Reina?”- she asked you as you bounced on the balls of your feet.
“Absolutely fucking amazing!”- you screamed into the camera as you got up close. The camera man and the interviewer laughed out loud as you got swept off your feet and onto the shoulders of your captain.
Mapi ran up behind you as you were seen waving at the camera while Alexia walked you back to your team to celebrate with you. - “That bicycle kick was one for the history books!”
“Bar-celo-na’s li-ttle bird, Rio,Rio! Our goal scoring hero,hero!”- your chants were screamed by the fans in the stadium.
Watching your bicycle kick being played on the screen a sense of pride filled your chest again as you heard not only the fans in the stadium screaming for you but your national team mates sitting around you as well, a few of them leaning over to pat you on the head or shoulders.
It definitely was still one of your favorite goals.

Another interview was shown on the screen. It was one with a few of your Barcelona teammates, some of your trophies laid out on the ground.
“OH, MIS BEBÉS!”- you shouted as you hugged the two Ballon D’ors close to you. Alexia and Jenni laughed loudly at you as you grinned back at them.
“Those are definitely her favorite trophies.”- Alexia turned towards the camera.
“Are you kidding me? They’d be my favorite trophies too.”- Jenni jokes.
“Don’t worry Jenni, you’ll get your own.”

England vs Germany
“Germany has always been a great threat to any country they’ve played against. Today the England Lionesses face them at home grounds, at Wembley Stadium.” - the commentators were heard as your team lined up for the anthems.
“Yeah I think this team has really shown just how good they are. They’ve got great quality and obviously a good mix of experienced and inexperienced players. Every single one of them has great potential, and you know, working together and cooperating, the sky has no limits, this team has no limits and hopefully we get to show that to the world at the final match.”- Sarina Weigman spoke at the press conference.
Dropping to your knees you allowed the tears to fall freely as the final whistle was blown. Looking up at the sky you placed a kiss on your pointer finger before pointing upwards.
Soon you felt a body colliding with you, Leah’s familiar blonde hair clouding your sight as the two of you hugged.
“We fucking did it!”- she all but sobbed, holding you tighter by the back of your head. You laughed in glee, pulling back you wiped her tears.
“We fucking did! My captain, my Leah, we did it!” - you told her proudly as her tears kept flowing down her face. Pulling her up you gave her another squeeze before she sent you towards Lucy.
Falling into the arms of who you considered to be your big sister she spun you around before inviting you to slide into the confetti pooling on the pitch.
2022, 𝖲𝖾𝗉𝗍𝖾𝗆𝖻𝖾𝗋 21, 𝖴𝗇𝗂𝗍𝖾𝖽 𝖪𝗂𝗇𝗀𝖽𝗈𝗆
“Who do you think you can thank your success to?”- you were asked. Leaning back in your chair you briefly glanced at the dark blue background behind you.
“I’d rather answer another question first.”- you lightly laughed as the person behind the camera nodded.
“What do you think your greatest trait as a player is?”
“Hmm, I’d have to say my drive to succeed for not only myself but for the club, the country and most importantly my teammates.”- you answered with a thoughtful look on your face.
“Oh it’s definitely her passion for the sport. I have met many great players, myself being one of them, she’s one of the players with the greatest passion towards football. I really do admire that about her.”- Lucy answered halfheartedly in a separate interview, sitting in front of the blue background.
“The strength she has, not only as a player but as a person as well. Her mother sort of..abandoning her…in some sense, obviously hurt her a lot, it would hurt anyone, but not everyone would be able to fight in spite of that. To continuously show up and prove others wrong.” - Alexia answered the same question with a sad smile on her face but a proud look by the end.
“Her love for the sport and for the people around her. She has such a loud and fun energy to her, on and off the pitch. She’s hard to forget.”- Leah smiled with a chuckle.
“Well I mean if nothing else works then she’s got a real good death stare. Like you can see the opposition back down from her…but most of the time I guess her skills are good enough”- Ella laughed as Allessia sent a jab at her ribs, laughing as well before answering. - “Yeah, she’s got it all.”
“Back to the first question, why do you think you succeed and continue to succeed in football?”
“My family.”- you answered, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Your family?”- she asked with a somewhat confused face.
“Yeah, it’s thanks to them that I’m still here. I’ve learnt everything from them and they continue to make me not only a better player but a better person as well.”- you smiled big with a light blush coating your cheeks.
“By family, do you mean your parents?”
“No, I mean I know my dad’s watching me from up there and I know he’s proud of me, that’s more than enough for me. But my family is my club team and national team. All 46 of them have my back and I have every single one of theirs.”- you answered truthfully. - “And I absolutely adore every one of them.”
The girls cheered as your biography ended, some with tearful looks on their faces, others with big smiles but all of them with a proud glint in their eyes.
Your mother might have not cared enough, that redhead at the academy might have caused you more trouble than you would’ve liked and yeah, your abilities were definitely doubted by many at the start of your career, but you knew you were right where you belonged.
In the arms of your teammates, your best friends and sisters. And when you’d be back for preseason at Barcelona, you’d be with the other half of your family.
Football gave you a home.

Studying Language
Sorry I've been rather inactive, I'm slowly trying to get back into the swing of things!
This is something I’m actually qualified to talk about! I speak three languages fluently, albeit in need of a little practise, and I’m learning one more currently, with one on pause due to time constraints. Nevertheless, I feel pretty confident in my information lol. I’m also a qualified TEFL teacher and have worked abroad teaching English!
Full immersion is the best option. The best thing you can do is spend your time in a country that speaks your target language and force yourself to learn, once you have the “Hello,” “Goodbye,” “Where is the bathroom?” all mastered. In Ireland, there are places called Gaeltachtanna where you go for different lengths of time depending on the course and live in a town speaking exclusively Irish, usually staying with an Irish-speaking family, and going to classes for the language and for games and dances. Of course, that’s not an accesible option for everyone, so you could try going to places like your nearest Asian market, Eastern European market etc, and any areas in your city with a lot of immigrants that might speak your target language. If you have friends who speak that language, natively or just to a better level than you, ask to meet them for coffee and chat as much as you can in your language.
Immersion Part Two: Culture. The people who speak your target language natively do so not just becaus that’s the place in which they exist, but because that’s the place that they live- they get their groceries there, they go to school there, and their language developed because of the day-to-day, as well as unique aspects of their culture such as dances, music, and especially food. Learn about the culture of the country or countries that speak your target language. Eg, fold a paper crane or eat sushi if your language of choice is Japanese, watch an telenovela or go to a salsa class if your goal is to learn Spanish.
Watch TV shows in your Target Language. If you can’t access the locations, and even if you can, watching TV or movies is great because it’ll help you understand the cadences of natural speech that you can’t get from a textbook or formal class situation. Start with movies you might be familiar with like Disney movies (I will die on the hill of “Mother knows Best” from Tangled is better in Spanish). You can also combine your subtitles and audio, using subtitles in your own language at first, and challenge yourself to changing the subtitle.
Similar to the above points, use YouTube or Twitch to your advantage too. That’s probably a lot easier if your target language is English, but there are creators that speak in their non-English native language too. My friend watches a Mexican Minecraft YouTuber called Quackity who has a Minecraft server modded to feature a live translator between Spanish and English, which is very cool.
Read books in your Target Language. We don’t love The Chronicles of the Boy Wizard in this house, but the books are available in 85 languages. The Hobbit also has a tonne including Cornish, Thai, and Ukranian, and Twilight has about 37 translations, just to list a few well-known examples. Learn especially about books written originally in your target language.
Consume Media Originally from the Country or Countries that Speak that Language. Read the Witcher, watch Física o Química, join the dubbed vs subbed anime bloodbath. It can be so beneficial to your understanding of a language to see how those who speak it write it themselves, not just for localisation purposes. It can especially be useful for slang and dialects.
Duolingo and other apps. I’m swiftly approaching my 365 day duolingo streak,* and I fully intend to celebrate with pierogis and a green cake. But there are other options out there, and all of them are great for beginners. I can only speak about Duolingo as its the one I use, but I’m having a lot of fun with the layout of it. However, I do need real practice if I’m going to become actually fluent.
That’s it! I hope this has been helpful!
*I've surpassed it since writing this!! I'm at 400+!!

Sand - Kyle Garrick x Reader
Just a little blurb about the reader and Kyle going to the beach, and talking shit while they're at it. Written for my beloved @mydogeatscoffeecups & @komorebiiiiiiii
Warnings: Probably a 16+ warning on this because wow Gaz is yummy istg, it's just fluff, and some sunburn. PUT SUNSCREEN ON KIDS.
Sand. It burned bare feet on summer days as hot as this, children ran across it ignoring their parents' yells for them to slow down as they hurled themselves into the water. Gaz had suggested bringing those portable deck chairs Price never used, it was hard to imagine that Captain sitting on the beach soaking up some sun. When you’d asked he was more than happy to let you both borrow the chairs, not after making you promise to put sunscreen on every 2 hours. Apparently the last thing he needed to deal with was two of his (children) best operatives were burnt to a crisp.
Sitting in the sand next to you was the aforementioned sunscreen, the sun felt abnormally hot on your skin, a hint that it was perhaps time to reapply. A while ago Gaz had left to go and get ice cream, mumbling that it would be a travesty not to have a cool treat. Sunscreen could wait a little longer, a extra pair of hands went a long way in the world of sun protection.
-
You could feel him staring, brown eyes drinking in your sun touched skin as he returned from the ice cream vendor.  Opening your eyes it was a surprise (and a blessing) to see him standing shirtless in front of you, he’d left with a shirt on but now it was tucked into his shorts. He shot you a lopsided grin, you melted just like the ice cream in his hand. His skin glistened in the sunlight, beads of sweat training down his chest leaving an onslaught of sinful thoughts in its wake. The sight alone was delicious, he was delicious. So much so that you’d almost forgotten about the melting ice cream in his hand.
“Got your favourite, it’s a little melted but it’ll do.” With the slightly soggy cone in your hands you made quick work of the melted ice cream before it trickled onto your hands, covering your eyes with your free hand you looked up at him head tilted to the side.
“You’re the best- did you get something for yourself?”
“Yeah an ice lolly.” Ah here we go with the pretend British words.
“You mean an iceblock?”
So it began, the argument about what words were proper ‘english’ and what words were made up. Kyle liked to remind you that if it wasn’t the Queen's English it wasn’t real, you liked to remind him that she didn’t create the English language. By the time the argument was over your ice cream and his ‘ice lolly’ had disappeared, the two of you enjoying the last dregs of sun as it set.
-
The ride back to the base was filled with shitty radio music, the kind both of you hated but sang to. Cherishing a moment where you didn’t have to worry about being thrust into a gunfight, where you could just be with each other pretending everything was alright with the world. Neither of you wanted to leave the car, stealing a few brief kisses before having to pretend like there was nothing going on between you.
His hand rested on the small of your back as he opened the door to the base, touch lingering as you walked ahead of him. You could feel his eyes following your movements as you peaked into the kitchen, shoulders tensing as Soap cheered at your arrival home. Taking a moment to look back at him, you mouthed the word ‘tea?’ to which he only nodded. Only once you had all relaxed did Price grunt, catching your attention as you pulled the tea bag from Kyle’s mug.
“What is it Captain?”
“You’re sunburnt, the both of ya.”

About “our bank account” - Buddy Daddies - Episode 5
My Japanese listening comprehension isn’t the best, I actually tend to do better with written Japanese, but I don’t think Kazuki actually mentions a bank account? It sounds more like he is just saying that he went a little too wild on buying all that stuff.
Tumblr media
I may just be hearing it wrong, but I don’t think there was any mention of 預金 (yokin), 銀行口座 (ginkoukouza), or 預貯金 (yochokin), all words that can mean “bank account.” Which makes sense, since we see that they get paid in direct cash and, due to their line of work, likely don’t even have a bank account. Rei’s family might have something set up to pay his rent or something, or Rei may have an account set up for that specifically, since we don’t see “Rent” or 家賃 (yachin) in with the bookkeeping that Kazuki is doing for their expenses, but for themselves and the money they get from their jobs, there probably isn’t any bank account stuff set up.
Tumblr media
And, honestly, them just paying for cash for everything, even things that cost a lot or are super expensive (you can even pay bills right at the convenience store in cash). Going cashless in Japan has gotten better and more common, but Japan is still a big cash-based society.
We also know from the memo note that Kazuki left for Rei in Episode 4 (in the little Special section that have on their website and do for marketing purposes) that he wanted Rei to pay for his own toys. So the assumption is that they both have their own money. Ep. 4 was at the beginning of February and this episode is at the end of March, so they may have since pooled their money together, but it’s also possible they have their own set of money and they just communicate when they buy things to each other (since they probably roughly make the same amount of money for their job, this would be easy for Kazuki to keep track of). It’ll be interesting to see how the English dub translates this line though.
Also, like I said, I’m not the best with listening comprehension stuff, especially since it’s been a few years since I lived in Japan (so it’s gotten rusty). So, if anyone knows for certain what he says here and has more info on that, please feel free to share! I know it’s just one silly line in the show, but I like knowing and fully understanding small detail stuff like that. :)
EDIT: More info what was actually said in Japanese:

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva
PART 17
〚FIRST〛〚PREV〛〚NEXT〛
Disclaimer: This is a fan-translation for the Japan-exclusive novellisation of the movie Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva. The original novel was written by Aya Matsui under the supervision of Akihiro Hino, and belongs to Level-5.
This translation only aims to be a pleasant read for non-Japanese fans, nothing more: I made a few deliberate changes while translating in order to get the writing style closer to what is usually found in English fanfictions, as the Japanese storytelling can sometimes be different than what we are used to.

* The Immortal Kingdom, Ambrosia
“Professor, I have to help Melina!” I shouted.
She was hanging on to the Detragigant as best she could. We had to hurry!
“No, it’s too dangerous!” he replied bitterly.
Melina’s grip loosened and one of her hands gave way. She lost her balance and swayed wildly, ready to fall. Time was running out!
“It’ll be alright! Trust me, Professor! I…”
She needed help!
“I’m a future gentleman!” I exclaimed at the top of my voice.
After a moment of silence… the professor nodded.
“You can do it, Luke!”
He changed our small helicopter’s course and we chased after the Detragigant, still heading out towards the sea. We sped up and slipped between its legs, then turned around and approached it backwards.
“This is the best I can do!”
“That’s good enough!”
To my own surprise, I was not scared at all. I timed my jump out of the helicopter and towards the Detragigant… and the next thing I knew, my body was leaping into the air.
I screamed.
I missed my target by a long shot, and barely landed a considerable distance away from Melina. What happened after that was just out of sheer desperation. I would be sent rolling off, or a pipe I would hold on to would be dislodged and detached…
“Hang on, Melina! I’m coming to help you!”
I shouted this, but maybe I was the one who had to hang on better too.
Getting stuck on a rotating excavator disc and forcing me to run in circles for a bit made me dizzy. But I managed to get out of it, and little by little I got closer to Melina.
The only thing my eyes were set on was the image of Melina hanging on with one hand, and her looking back at me anxiously.
There’s no need to worry, Melina! I will make it and help you!
Gradually, I made it closer and closer to her. I was almost there… Almost…
I heard Descole’s voice in the distance.
“Luke Triton… You cheeky little brat!”
The huge drill of the Detragigant flew towards me at tremendous speed and hid Melina from my view. But I wouldn’t let it get in my way! I would save Melina, no matter what!
Somehow, even in that moment, I felt no fear.
The drill was right in front of me.
“Luke!”
A split second later, the small helicopter hit the drill, forcing it to change direction.
Now!
I rushed to Melina at once and finally helped her back to safety.
“Th—thank you, Luke…”
Hearing her words, I naturally smiled.
“I-I didn’t do that much, that was nothing!”
Unfortunately for my image, I was pretty out of breath.
But then, above our heads, a huge explosion occurred. Both the small helicopter and the drill went up in flames…!
“P-Professor!”
No… With that explosion, he couldn’t…?
“Ha ha ha… Shattered to pieces it is, then,” Descole laughed darkly.
Professor… Professor!
At that moment…
“Luke, look!”
I followed Melina’s pointing finger. There were many pipes hanging from the Detragigant, and at the tip of one of them… the professor held on. I was so relieved…
He swung back and forth, until he could gather enough momentum to reach the top of the Detragigant.
“You were lucky.”
Descole pested, then drew his sword and ran to attack. The professor pulled out a pipe and used it to defend himself.
A sword against a pipe… The battle began. The professor’s fencing skills were impressive, but Descole’s seemed to be at least as good. Perhaps even greater…
“You lack experience…”
In response to Descole’s words, the professor replied:
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that, Descole.”
“What?”
“The crest’s puzzle.”
The puzzle? What was he talking about?
“Indeed, you solved half of it,” he continued.
“Half… of it?”
Descole’s tone had changed.
“The songs of the stars and sea are not enough.”
“W-what!?”
“Three keys are needed to revive Ambrosia, Descole!”
As he continued talking, the professor walked up to a sheet of music that had a drawing of the crest on it.
“Your mistake lies in the fact that you only looked at the crest under one angle.”
He took the music sheet, showed it to Descole, and slowly… he rotated it.
“There is a third song, which appears when you turn the Song of the Stars upside down…”
Descole’s eyes widened.
“The Sun!?”
“Indeed. The third key is the Song of the Sun!”
I finally understood. So this was the puzzle that the professor had been thinking about earlier!
“Unless the sun sings as well, dawn will never rise on Ambrosia, Descole.”
Having said this, the professor turned his back and began to play the first melody, the Song of the Stars.
“Melina, sing the Song of the Sea!”
“Y-yes!”
Beside me, Melina started singing. The two melodies mingled and resonated together… So far, this was the same thing as what Descole had played earlier.
But then, the professor turned the drawing of the crest upside down, and then began to play a third melody with his free hand. The Song of the Sun…
Stars, Sea, and Sun. The three symbols on the Ambrosian crest overlapped, as rich and beautiful music filled the surroundings.
Then, something unbelievable happened. Deep below the sea, some lights started to flicker. It was weak at first, but their brightness gradually increased and spread across the surface of the sea. As if those lights were responding to the music…
As he continued playing, the professor looked over his shoulder and at the glowing sea. Melina continued to sing, focused on her performance.
Eventually, the glowing sea rose up, and ruins emerged from the waves. At the same time, the light from the sea burst forth, and then fell on us like a rain of light… I had never seen anything so beautiful before.
These ruins were the Kingdom of Ambrosia. I thought back to how it used to be, in the distant past… Where did the queen sing of her love for her subjects? And this puzzle about eternal life, what could it be…?
The remains of the kingdom came to a silent halt once they finished surfacing. The professor and Melina also slowly stopped playing.
As he put his hand on the lever of the Detragigant once again, Descole’s sword struck him.
“Laytooon!”
Descole had completely lost himself in his anger, and attacked the professor relentlessly.
“Move!”
The two struggled to get on top of the Detragan, and during their fierce battle, pieces of it were destroyed one after the other. Completely unbothered by this, Descole kept attacking.
“Ambrosia…”
The professor was struggling to keep him under control.
Descole yelled: “I’ll search Ambrosia with my own hands!”
Finally… a spark ran through the Detragan, followed by many others that spread all over like opening cracks. The Detragigant started attacking, launching its weapons aimlessly, damaging itself, causing internal explosions all over the place.
With the Detragigant unstable, both the professor and Descole lost their balance. The professor collapsed on the spot… while Descole looked around for a place to escape, only to stagger and fall.
A desperate scream rang out.
“Descole!”
The professor hurriedly peered downwards, and I also tried to look at the general area where I thought he had fallen… but he was nowhere to be seen. Could he have survived…?
I noticed that Melina was also looking down, with a frozen expression on her face.
“How on Earth did he…?”
“I don’t know…”
That was all I could say. So instead of words, I took her hand and smiled to cheer her up.
“Come on, let’s go see the professor.”
She nodded, and we ran to him.
“Professor!”
This was Emmy’s voice. When I turned my head, I saw that they had caught up with us and were running after the Detragigant.
“The way things are going, it’s only a matter of time before that monster explodes!” Inspector Grosky shouted.
Indeed, the Detragigant was now on the verge of collapsing completely, bursting here and there with sparkles… and going in flames. Parts of it started to turn to rubble and fall off.
“Hurry up, run!” Amelia shouted in panic.
“What are we going to do, Professor!?” I asked, turning towards him.
He was trying to operate the levers that were still active. Somehow, he managed to change the Detragigant’s route significantly… with cliffs now becoming visible right ahead of us.
“Alright! Luke, Melina, let’s go!”
I was overjoyed that he had found a way out. In the meantime, the Detragigant continued its path straight ahead, slowly but without interruption… and no doubt, it would soon step over the cliff.
We jumped from its shoulders just before it sank into the abyss. As we landed, a massive explosion burst from behind us.
We had managed to land on the ground, but the impact had hit hard.
“Are you alright!?”
Emmy rushed over to me. When I recovered enough to get up, it was Mr Whistler who shouted next:
“Melina…! Melina!”
Following his gaze, I realised that she had fainted.
A moment later, the Detragigant roared… or at least, that was what I thought it sounded like. A howl of despair and agony…
Part of the remains of Ambrosia had impaled it all the way through. The light running throughout its machinery disappeared, and all movement rapidly stopped. At the same time, its debris fell out… and into the sea.
Somehow… It felt as if the remnants of the Detragigant that sank to the bottom of the sea were offering prayers to the kingdom.
I remembered the people who would pray to the Queen, just like in the opera about the Eternal Kingdom.
