Hii I hope your day is going well ! I was looking through your masterlist and saw your music hcs from a few years ago for the straw hats and I don't think you did the followup for supernova trio? I was wondering if i could request that myself or even music hcs for all supernovas if possible? Thank you :)
Ahoy! I sorta haven't been getting around to it like many of my other hcs and requests, but I am in the mood to do music related stuff! Also I've broaden my music tastes a lot since last time so I might need to update the Strawhats' later, but for now we're here for-
Music Genres/Artists the Supernovas Listen to (Headcanons)
Law
If your first thought is that he listens to the most edgiest emo music there is, you're absolutely right!/hj
Okay, but being real here, he's gonna be picky about the edgy music, I'd say it leans more to moody rather than depressed
Songs like that would be Something in the Way and Heart-Shaped Box by Nirvana, Paint it Black by Rolling Stones, Natural, Bones and (maybe) Enemy by Imagine Dragons, Heathens and Stresssd Out by Twenty One Pilots, Losing My Religion by R.E.M. , Crying Lightning by Artic Monkeys, Duvet by Bòa
Crazy by Gnarls Barkley was 1000% played a repeat nurmous times
Can be found at 1 am - 3 am listening and sometimes singing Wake Me Up Inside/hj
Oblivion by Dirty Palm on the other hand is played here and there but he's not too much a fan of bass songs unless he is at the club drunk and dancing all that stress & trauma off (love that one rave Law fanart )
Viva La Vida by Coldplay is a classic favorite for him
You know, he probably listens to Maneater by Daryl Hall because Dr. Heart Stealer gives those vibes
Enjoys the SIAMÉS album Bounce Into The Music but would also find comfort in their album Home
His go to genres would be soft rock or alternative rock but isn't opposed when it comes to certain pop songs like Don't You Worry Child (catch him at the right time and he will get emotional over that song)
Enjoys the older stuff & independent artists (I remember reading Law is German so many he'd like German music?)
Artists he listens to: Nirvana, Coldplay, Three Doors Down, Franz Ferinard, Artic Monkeys, The Score, Imagine Dragons, and Fall Out Boy
Kid
Metal Music
Was that not obvious?
Loves the classics
Metallica, Guns & Roses, Thrasher, Black Sabbath, Rob Zombie, Three Days Grace, Smashing Pumpkins
He enjoys rock
The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Skid Row, Rolling Stones, Finger Eleven, Ozzy Osborne, AC/DC
He enjoys some new bands like Yungbund, Blacklite District, and Goku Luck
I know there's pirate metal but he gives more viking metal vibes (does listen to both)
You know he's jamming out to the second Death Note opening & Kaiju No. 8's opening
Traitor by Daughtry and Unstable by Chaotica
He might like phonk
Says rap is crap (who's gonna tell him Goku Luck is hiphop)
Allergic to Country/serious
Is the kind of Metalhead that says Nu Metal is not Metal
Psst, can I let you in on a little secret? He secretly listens to Lady Gaga, don't tell anyone or he'll kill you
Killer
Listens to most of the stuff Kid does but also has his own tastes
Nickel Back, Coldplay, Valley of Wolves, Unsecret, Skillet, One OK Rock, Meatloaf, Opal in Sky, Okamoto, The Cranberries, and Man With a Mission
Killer is more familiar with sea shanties than Kid
He enjoys listening to Uta (Ado), his favorite song of hers would be Gira Gira because he does relate to the lyrics (he really wanted to go to her concert but the crew probably got caught up doing business on another island and missed it)
Secretly would go to a 90s pop rave, waving glowsticks as artists like 2 Unlimited blast through the speakers/silly
Is the kind of Metalhead that says Nu Metal is Metal (not in front of Kid though)
Also allergic to country/serious
Hawkins
Dark Academia and Goth Ambience
He enjoys the somber pianos, it's peaceful and helps him study
Organ pianos are pleasing to him as well, if played right
He might be able to play piano but the violin (which is another instrument he enjoys listening to) is tricky to find the rhythm he prefers
Does love classic violin yet finds the epic violin music videos on YouTube to be appealing
And if he’s not listening to that, meditation/ambiance music is playing
Unironically listens to background music from video games such as Minecraft or Genshin Impact
Moonlit Night from the Death Parade OST is one of his favorites
If you can't tell, he enjoys soothing instrumentals
Is a big fan of Tchaikovsky
Enjoys music from 90s Disney (Cinderella especially)
Absolutely listens to Phantom of the Opera! Look at this man! You can't tell me he doesn't!
Probably enjoys French love songs
Apoo
DJ Apoo is in the house and you know he's all about the funky music!
80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, and even 20s, he loves all the rave & bass boost songs
Eurodancer, Daft Punk, 2 Unlimited, it's all a bop
Hip-hop & Rap are his jam (his taste for that would not be mine so you may list them here)
Apoo is pretty organized with his playlists, being a DJ and all, has most of them separated by genre
He thinks listening to music from Anime, Movies, and Video Games is stupid (*hands you your baseball bat*)
Drake
His ass is boring
He listens to whatever is playing on the radio
Not much of a music guy so he doesn't have any custom playlists
He might be fond of a few songs that come on the radio
Music to Drake is mainly just background noise when driving
While he doesn't mind someone playing their music, he prefers if he can understand the lyrics
Drake will easily get flustered if he hears spicy songs being played, especially if someone else is there, if he’s alone he’s instantly changes the station
Bonney
Popstars by KDA
I think her taste leans to rebellious as in "Fuck you, I do what I want"
So her taste can go from Don't Threaten Me With a Good Time by Panic At The Disco, to Seven Nation Army by White Stripes
Artists she listens to on the regular would be The Offspring, Panic At The Disco, BTS(?), P!nk, Fallout Boy, Cozmez, Fake Type, UNSECRET, and Eminem
Maybe a few Kelly Clarkson songs like Stronger and Since You've Been Gone
She does not like others putting on music, you can expect her to make a fuss if you try putting on something
Auxcord hog
Bege
The Godfather OST/hj
But for real he does like Italian instrumentals
Has a taste for soft love ballets
A few French and Spanish songs are appealing to him
He doesn't like pop, hip hop, rock, metal, or rap, and doesn't understand why the youth enjoy it so much
Except for 80s J-pop, he can see the appeal for songs such as Airport Lady by Toshiki Kadomatsu or Telephone Number by Junko Ohashi
And soft rock, specially the love songs like Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel or Can't Help Falling in Love With You by Elves (he just loves his wife, guys)
Urouge
So basing this off one of his hobbies Oda has confirmed
He loves seductive music, whether it’s playing in the background or he looking for something to listen to
Most played songs is Careless Whispers
Jazz and spicy pop are his top genres
Prime examples are: Mirrors by Natalia Kills, Sway by Michael Bublé, Pause by Pitbull, One More Night by Maroon 5, Stalker's Tango by Autoheart Lent
I could make playlists for them if y'all want but for now, do what you will with these headcanons, make your own playlists ✨️

Big Girls Don't Cry (Bucky Egan x OC)
Summary: After a night out spirals out of control, Holly thinks she's doomed to be a haunted house. Bucky’s brave enough to let the light in.
Note: An angsty first kiss for Holly and Bucky…I’m so overwhelmed by the response to the MotA fics I’ve posted so far, thank you so much🖤 There's going to be a parallel Woody/Brady-centric fic to this, which is why I included a decent ensemble here lol. Do not interact if you're under 18, terf or radfem, or post thinspo/ED content.
Word count: 2.8k
Warnings: Descriptions of a panic attack and related self-inflicted injuries; mentions of death and grief (hurt/comfort). Inevitable historical inaccuracies. Ends on a somewhat suggestive note, but nothing explicit.
Holly was exhausted when Bucky asked her to go to the pub in town with him and some of the other pilots that evening. She initially hesitated, but between his near insisting and her notion that a break from the base would do her good, she accepted the invitation. When she found Woody later on to ask if she was going, Brady had already invited her, a light blush spreading across Woody’s face when she told Holly. The overall group of seven required pushing two tables together and stealing some empty chairs.
“Holly, your drink’s on me. I got $4.50 when you won the last typing contest,” Bucky said.
“You bet on it?” Buck asked.
“I knew she’d win.”
“Beat her own record,” Woody added.
Buck shook his head, smiling a bit. Holly liked Buck a lot, especially the way his face lit up when she asked him about Marge. Seemed to be physically lighter, too, like the weight of being one of the de facto leaders of the 100th was off of his shoulders for that moment in time. He’d get almost flustered if he realized he was rambling, apologizing for taking up so much of her time talking about his girl even though she was the one who asked him.
“Which is why I’m buying my sailor a dark ‘n’ stormy, and the rest of you are on your own.”
She laughed, “Thanks, Bucky.”
‘My sailor.’ He had taken to calling her after they listened to the Nationals-Yankees game together. But she apparently inherited her sailorship from Stan, her preference for rum and penchant for cursing around Bucky (and few others), made him designate her so.
Nevermind she had only been on a boat a handful of times, one of which was the ship that brought her over to England from New York, and no, she didn’t know any sea shanties. He took it upon himself to learn one from a local laborer who worked on schooners at the turn of the century. Of course, Bucky had been drunk when he tried to teach her the song, remembering half of the lyrics and ad-libbing the rest. She left the singing to him.
She still had one secret–an anchor tattoo on her upper arm. An impulsive decision she and Stan made together when she accompanied him to San Francisco the week he shipped out to the Pacific. The same week she met Woody, and the rest of her life started before she could blink.
Being in the pub with everyone was the most normal she’d felt in a while. She hoped could finally shake whatever stormy clouds had made their home in her mind over the past year.
“Hey Holly, you’re from DC, right?” Curt asked abruptly. “You ever meet the President? See him around the neighborhood or something?”
She laughed. “No, unfortunately I’ve never run into President Roosevelt at the drug store.”
“How would he even do that? He’d get mobbed,” Crank said.
Woody nodded. “He’s probably got a mean security detail, too.”
“Well he can’t spend all day in the White House!”
“Why not? Heard they got a bowling alley in there,” Buck said.
“Woody, I’ll get you a beer?” Brady asked, his voice low among the clamor of what President Roosevelt did for fun in the nation's capital.
“Thanks, John.”
Holly sneaked a glance at her best friend when Brady stood up and headed over to the bar. She wasn’t sure if Woody had told him that Holly knew about them. There were few, if any secrets between Holly and Woody, and guys were certainly no exception.
“Look, if I were the president, I’d wanna know my neighbors,” Curt said.
“If you were president,” Buck repeated, toothpick between his teeth as he smiled. “Listen to him.”
“Hey, anybody can run,” Curt said. “That’s what it says in the Bill of Rights or something.”
“That doesn’t mean you should,” Crank said.
“You got my vote, Curt,” Bucky announced, setting his and Holly’s drinks on the table.
“Thanks, Bucky. You’ll be my VP.”
Bucky grinned, sitting next to Holly. His arm settled on the back of her seat, his fingers brushing the ends of her curly hair.
The next few minutes was a game of musical chairs as everyone else came and went with their drinks of choice, Brady taking the seat next to Woody as soon as it was open.
Holly found herself leaning against Bucky as she drank, nursing her dark ‘n’ stormy with the intent of making it last until it was time to leave. He was the only person she felt comfortable enough to be in such close contact with besides Woody. He felt like sitting next to the radiator in her childhood bedroom, and she nearly nodded off after some time, Buck and Bucky in the middle of some conversation she couldn’t follow.
Curt returned to the table with what must have been his third or fourth beer of the night.
“Hey Bucky, some of these blokes are lookin’ to play darts,” he said, motioning behind him.
Bucky nodded. “Hope they’re ready to cover my tab.” He threw back his whiskey and gave Holly’s shoulder a gentle squeeze as he got up. “C’mon, doll.”
Holly didn’t remember much of what happened between then and when she heard it. An entire chunk of time morphed into a hazy blur in her mind. Vaguely remembered cheering for Bucky and Curt. Then Curt called an RAF pilot an asshole, and a fight nearly broke out before fizzling down by the grace of god. Or maybe Buck stepped in. Bucky had something to her before his turn, an aside she laughed at, but couldn’t recall.
Different conversations around her jumbled with one another, stringing together in a cruel way only her own mind could conjure up for her. She heard him clear as day.
“Stan?” she whispered, her voice crazed with illogical hope.
Her heart raced. She looked frantically around the room for a sign—any sign of him.
But Stan was dead. There’d been a funeral with a body. His mother wept over the open casket. Her own mother had written as much. Sent her the funeral program which remained hidden among her belongings.
She kept the accompanying memorial card on her person at all times. A nice photo of Stan in uniform. His full name. Dates of birth and death. A bible verse and a little mention of his service in the Navy.
Stan was dead. Had been for over a year.
Her chest tightened, pulling like a rubber band about to snap. As the room closed in on her, she barrelled through the pub patrons, paying no mind to who was in her path, only that they were between her and a door.
The cool night air shocked her skin, but it wasn’t enough to snuff out the burning in her lungs. Panic overtook her brain. With a strangled shout, she curled her fist, unleashing months of unspoken grief directly onto the brick wall in front of her. Pain struck her hand like a bolt of lightning, but she could breathe again.
Her knuckles split open, bruises blossoming across her fingers in the darkness. “Fuck!” she shouted, both in pain and disbelief at herself. “Motherfuck–”
The alley door slammed open, chaos from the bar ringing in her ears as she looked wide-eyed at the person who interrupted her. A tense mortification swept over her body.
She’d been doing so well. Kept the self-destructive thoughts at bay. Used to chew on her bottom lip until it bled, the pain of broken skin and taste of copper strangely grounding when her mind wandered too far. Hadn’t done in it months. But she never exploded. Not quite like this.
Bucky stumbled forward, blinking as his eyes adjusted to the darkness. “Holly?” he asked, his gaze drifting down to her hand. “Jesus, what happened?”
Of course he would be the one to witness her breakdown. She wished it were Woody, but she sure as hell didn’t want to ruin her best friend’s night out with her boyfriend either.
Woody was used to it. Holly was always too embarrassed to go to a nurse, so Woody would sit her down and carefully apply petroleum jelly to Holly’s raw lips, eyebrows knit together in concerned concentration as her fingers brushed across the cracked, scabbed over skin. Didn’t care if she had been working for over twelve hours straight or was in the middle of something else.
But Bucky wasn’t Woody, and she never wanted him to see her like this.
Holly stared at him, trembling as he took a tentative step toward her. Tears welled up in her eyes. She frantically rubbed at them with her sleeve. She let out a shaky breath.
“Holly,” he repeated. “Are you alright?”
“I felt like I was going to explode in there so I came out here and…” She flexed her injured hand and winced. “I heard someone talking. He sounded just like Stan.” She swallowed a lump in her throat, feeling more pathetic as she explained herself. “I guess my wires got crossed.”
“Hey, it happens,” he tried assuring her. “You think you’re the only one?”
Holly shook her head. “Even when I got the letter last year, I still showed up and did what I had to do. Didn’t miss a day.” She was silent for a moment. “I don’t know why tonight was so different.”
“Don’t beat yourself up over it.” He took her bruised hand, whispering an apology when she hissed in pain. Examined it as best as he could in the cover of night. “At least not any more than you already have.”
“I punched a brick wall. I’m not gonna be able to type tomorrow,” she said, quickly adding, “I can’t go to a nurse. They’ll ask what happened, and I’d rather crawl in a hole somewhere.”
He shook his head. “C’mon, I’ll patch up that hand for you. It’s probably not even that bad.”
“Don’t cut your night short because of me.”
Briefly, almost enough to convince her it was just a trick of the moonlight, he looked uncharacteristically sheepish. “It’s the least I can do for making you come out tonight.”
“Bucky, you didn’t make me do anything. I don’t want to be some wilting flower who’s too afraid to keep living. Stan wouldn’t have wanted that for me. I just wish my brain would get the message.”
“Well, I’m sure Stan wouldn’t have wanted you to walk all the way back by yourself if you didn’t have to,” he said.
She smiled weakly. “Yeah, he’d chew me out for that.”
So would Bucky, if this had happened and he hadn’t found her. If she walked back to Thorpe Abbotts alone in the dead of night with nothing but the stars to keep her company. She never cared for them, especially not after Stan. They gave the night glistening teeth that tore her apart far too often for her to be comfortable beneath them.
“Hey, what about darts?” she asked, a good distance away from the pub.
“I pulled Crank in. He can hold his own. Besides, if there’s an angry bartender hunting me down on the base tomorrow, you could probably hold him off for me,” he joked, lightly elbowing her side. “You got one hell of a hook.”
“Stan taught me.”
“He taught you how to fight?”
“Sort of, but he was probably thinking more along the lines of self-defense instead of getting into fights with brick walls.”
“That wall had it coming. If you didn’t punch it, I probably would’ve.”
She huffed out a laugh. “Will you tell that to Chick so he doesn’t kill me tomorrow?”
“He’s not gonna kill you. Might be pissed that his best typist is gonna be out of commission for a few days, though.”
“I can still proofread. Or sort mail. Or—“
“Let me worry about that, alright?”
Holly hesitated. “Alright.”
—————
Bucky had the keys to the Air Exec office, empty for the night, and sat Holly down at her desk. He disappeared for a few minutes, but returned with an armful of peroxide bottles, absorbent cotton, and a roll of gauze.
“Geez Bucky, don’t waste all of that on me.”
“If I brought you to a nurse, they’d use it on you, anyway.”
He pulled up a chair, his knees touching hers as he took a closer look at her hand beneath a desk lamp. His eyebrows furrowed as he considered the dried blood, cuts that had already begun to scab over, and a particularly gnarly knuckle that didn’t sit quite right.
“I don’t think it’s broken, but one of your knuckles got dislocated. I’m gonna clean your hand and then pop it back into place.”
“Fuckin’ A,” she said. “I learned that from Stan, too.”
“Do you know what that means?”
“No. Neither did he.”
He snickered, grabbing the peroxide and some cotton. “What was Stan like, anyway? Sounds like an interesting guy from what you told me.”
“Stan was…” She paused. Nobody asked her about Stan. All anyone knew was what little she offered. What was he like? “He cursed like a—well, he was a sailor. Of course he was a Nationals fan. Loved detective novels. We’d have ones we’d read together and see who could figure out the big plot twist first. His front tooth was chipped, but god, he had the best smile. I’m talking serious wattage—“
“Wattage?” Bucky repeated incredulously.
“Okay, I made that up—think electric! He could light up a whole room with just his smile,” she emphasized with a smile of her own. “You know what I mean?”
He glanced up from her hand to her face for a moment. “Yeah, I do.”
“What else…we had this goofy thing going where we’d play tic-tac-toe in our letters to each other. I started doing that because I’m not great at writing letters. I never know what to say, but I wanted him to still look forward to getting them from me.”
“How’d you meet him?”
“I just started secretarial school when he got a job at this fish market up the street from my house. I remember thinking he was so handsome, he almost looked out of place,” Holly said, her voice soft for a moment. “Well, I’d spend so much time there that my mom would complain about how awful I smelled by the time I got home. I asked him out first.”
Bucky laughed. “You’re kidding.”
A wide grin spread across her face. “I wanted to make him mine before he could even think about another girl, so I went in one day and said, ‘When are you gonna take me to see a movie?’ Most guys wouldn’t have liked that, but Stan got a kick out of it. He’d tell the story to anyone who’d listen.” She paused. “I think what really scares me is that at some point, I’ll remember him for longer than I knew him, and I’m always gonna be…like this.”
“I’m gonna set your knuckle back in place now,” Bucky said, his voice low, almost contemplative.
Holly tensed, staring at the ceiling while Bucky pushed against her bruised knuckles. Bone clicked back into place. She groaned. Clenched her good hand into a fist, blinking away tears.
“Barely flinched,” he said. “You’re tougher than you give yourself credit for, doll.”
She smiled. “Thanks, Bucky.”
They were quiet as he finished bandaging her hand. The room was almost chatty though, buzzing overhead lights, ticking clock on the wall, a leaky pipe somewhere. Among them, a thought broke free from the confines of Bucky’s mind.
“Stan was lucky to have a girl like you waiting for him.”
Glassy brown eyes, wavering with the weight of the world, stared back at him in silence.
He cleared his throat. “I’m sorry, Holly. I shouldn’t have—”
She kissed him, her bandaged hand caressing his cheek. Weeks of silently longing, lusting, and wondering, answered in full as she moved her lips against his. Nearly forgot to kiss her back until he felt her pulling away.
He placed his hand over her bandaged one, still tenderly cupping his face. The gauze was rough against his skin, a contrast to the pads of her fingers. He curled his fingers around hers, her blunt nails lightly scraping against his cheek.
She gasped against his lips. “John.”
A shiver rolled down his spine as he brushed his thumb over the bandage he’d just finished wrapping, her knuckle that he set back in place for her. All for her. And she kissed him first.
‘I wanted to make him mine.’
Mine.
Mine.
Her dulcet tone echoed in his head until he couldn’t think of anything but kissing her again, offering himself to her as the sole object of her affection.
Mineminemineminemine. “Holly, baby—” He was trying so hard to be coherent, nearly choking on his words until finally uttering, “I’m all yours.”

Hi Snail! I hope you have a great weekend and are doing well? 😊
Is there a song that Heat listens too when he thinks of Tobiou (aaah I hope I didnt mispell it)?
I'm asking for... scientific purposes. 👀
HI RO!! How are you, dear?
In my mind, there are a few songs Heat hears and he thinks about Tobiuo.
In the One-Piece land itself, I think he hears a shanty sung about a fierce warrior woman, he'd picture her in his mind. Something like Loreley by Blackmore's Night.
"And the winds would cry, and many men would die. And the waves would bow down to the Loreley."
Where he witnesses Tobiuo fighting, I think he'd hear something like Alibi by Sevdaliza. The beat is how I see her wanting to dance with him.
"When I'm out of breath, she's my vitals. Where I need to rev, she's my ride or die. When I'm out of faith, she's my idol. I just killed a man, she's my alibi."
In a modern au setting: I see Tobiuo as a death doula (palliative carer) working in the same hospital as Law (chief surgeon), and Heat is a hearse driver for the departed, with Wire as the undertaker/funeral arranger. The first time she gets in his car for a date, the music blares the last song he was listening to loud.
Heat turning the key in the ignition and the stereo, the lyrics blasting: "COME ON BABY, WE AINT GONNA LIVE FOREVER~! LET ME SHOW YOU ALL THE THINGS THAT WE CAN DO~! YOU KNOW YOU WANNA BE TOGETH-!" with him punching the off switch as quickly as he could.
"I... I am so sorry. Can we just forget that ever happened?" He stutters out, a dark flush blooming in his cheeks. Tobiuo maintaining eye contact, sucking in her lips to withhold a large grin, and reaching for the radio and turning it back on.
"-ER~! AND I WANNA SPEND THE NIGHT WITH YOU!"
There are so many silly things going on in my head about these two all the time, and I hope this answers your question! Also, don't worry about the spelling! When in doubt, she goes by "Iyo" 🖤🖤 Thank you for your ask!!

here’s a personal ranking of every single fish in a birdcage song currently released, worst to best. cuz why not.
#39: Roots. Not my style, not what I rlly listen to fish for, and paced a bit too oddly for my taste.
#38: Otherside. Again, I don’t rlly come to fish for more electronic sounds, unless it’s in tandem with more acoustic stuff. Also, it’s repetitive.
#37: Movies. This is where the ranking gets infinitely harder, because I literally like every single fish in a birdcage song. Even the last two. Movies is just a bit too lyrically simple and unevocative. Doesn’t make me feel, just a nice tune.
#36: Lion. Again, nice tune, bit to simple with the lyrics. Or rather the lyrics just… don’t conjure much for me.
#35: If Trees Could Talk. Nice wrap up to the album, and an enjoyable tune with good lyrics. Just not personally my taste, a bit too slow n simple.
#34: Gideon. Kind of a fusion of Still and Drunk on Pride if memory serves, but that’s the thing. Memory doesn’t serve. It’s a lil forgettable, especially since so many songs in the album are rather similar.
#33: Man O’ War. Do I need to explain? It’s Man O’ War. Pirate shanty incarnate. Great, but doesn’t really make me feel. but like. MANN OH WAR, OOH-III-OH! FERRY US ALONG, WITH FREIGHTS OF GOLD!!!
#32: Sand. Wonderful. Calm, melancholic, bittersweet. The only reason it’s here is cuz you have to be in the right place to like it. Too slow n sad to listen in an average playlist, too melancholy to be comforting at times. Still good.
#31: Still. I really like still. But still is also, as they say, weird as shit. Gives me a very specific image all the way through, just a bit odd to listen to. Do not put this in your sleep playlist, you will enter another reality.
#30: Calamity. Ohh, calamity. Boss battle music!! And great for it. Bit generic tho. *lightning strike sound effect*
#29: Two sides. Finally out of the Man O’ War barrage lol. I like it! It’s simple, enjoyable. That’s… about it. Not insubstantial, just exactly what it says on the tin. Two sides.
#28: Blessed by a Curse. Fan-fuckin-tastic chorus, but i wish they’d let the instruments speak for themselves more. The “woawoawowoho…” messes with it for me. But that piano hit!! And the STRINGS!!!
#27: Poet. Poet’s damn good! For like. A minute and a half. lol. The parts with the vocals are great, the end is wonderful, but it’s mostly made of instrumental that isn’t as good as the rest.
#26: Brothers. Guys. What if we took Drunk on Pride and Man O’ War and merged them?!? Wouldn’t that be cool!? And it would, but… again, a bit generic. We’ve heard this before, in those songs. Tbh a lot of Man O’ War as an album feels vaguely based around Drunk on Pride and Gideon. It’s weird. I like it.
#25: Moonlight. Lovely. Makes you cry when you need to, and comforts you when you don’t. Like sand, but more applicable.
#24: Amigo. Dabudabudabudabaduadadudabadatdye, dadatdababudu, dabudabubaddudatdudaba dabudabudadubatdadatdadada! Lyrically simple, absolute vibe. Love it.
#23: Drunk on Pride. Great, fucking love the strings here. Especially that crescendo at the end of the first chorus, I ascend this mortal coil every time I hear it.
#22: Magic. The first rule! A bit boring in subject compared to those above it, but great. That violin riff is holy, and the “DA badabada DA” in the melody is great.
#21: Child of the Stars. Really cool, like if you took all the good of Otherside and mixed in some Waterfall, and a bit of poet. Motivational, and those violin riffs… ough. Love em.
#20: The secret rule, Rule #6!! Also known as- Fuck it either way. lol. For those unaware, this rule isn’t published due to some personal preferences of Dusty(the project lead/singer). Mainly cuz it has fuck in the title. There’s a few vids on YouTube of it if you wanna listen. ANYWAY. Great tune, great melody. If a bit lyrically on the nose.
#19: Like a Rock. Like a Rock is slept on. It’s a weird, experimental end to a weird, experimental album, and it shows! The pacing is a touch syncopated, tone can be odd. But man, that fucken guitar melody. And the instrumentals. And, the one part at the end. If you’ve listened, you know.
#18: Rule #34. Had to come eventually, eh? Yes, that was a juvenile joke. Anyway. The strings, the piano, all of the instrumental goes so hard. Especially after the last chorus, when the piano really comes in. And yes, the lyrics do make me vaguely uncomfortable, and that means it’s a bit detached meaning wise. But it is too good to simply leave at the bottom. And yes, all of that wording was intentional. I know what I said.
#17: My Dream, My Addiction. What a song name. I love the strings, the way it’s slow and loud and so many things. It’s hard to decipher, and I love it. It’s just a bit odd for an average playlist, but it’s here mostly on principle anyway. Just too personally interesting to leave low.
#16: Angel Tango. It’s like. The same as My Dream, My Addiction. But a bit less obtuse and weird. Only a bit tho, still kinda odd in a real good way. One spot above feels right.
#15: Lore. Lore! Recent-est song as of now. I fuckin love it, I genuinely just wish it had a bit more. The cello, the ethereal vocals, the everything. But a bit too short, feels kind of insubstantial. A few more lines per chorus would’ve gotten it quite a few places higher.
#14: Momento Mori. ASHES TO ASHES, DUST TO DUUUUST! Absolute vibe, the lyrics are my favorite kind of esoteric and odd, the guitar is great, all real good. At this point, the only thing placing songs higher is them doing what others have done, better.
#13: James Picard. Gorgeous. I love this one so much, the strings are just heavenly. Vocals are wonderful, the harmonies, and the story, ough. Love it.
#12: Throne Room. Again, the cellos and violins. This one is similar to the rest of the album, but unlike many others, it’s so damn unique. The feeling of majesty and mysticism, the lyrics, that chorus of ominous chants before those beautiful strings kick back in. The flare sound effect, ough, it’s all just great.
#11: Microphone. We’re getting into the interchangeable zone, everything below is amazing. For this it’s the starting cello, and the ending cello. Oh, and the middle cello! And the vocals. And the cello!!
#10: Four Aces. More than the sum of its parts. The chain sound effects, and the dull, venomous delivery. The shout in the middle, the story it tells so perfectly and simply. The last lines, where the vocals rise just slightly, making you prep for another shout-! And then they fall. No release, just a few strums and the sounds of shackles, chains, shovels and spades. It all fits like a puzzle.
#9: Fiddler’s Heart. Like, c’mon. It’s Fiddler’s hearts. Fiddly, jovial, simple and lovely on the ears. The story and character, the constant variety of wonderful violin in the back. Great. Perfect, and I mean PERFECT, to listen to on a summer walk.
#8: Long Way From Home. I love the electric guitar in this so much. This is everything good about Roots, Otherside, all of the more electrical stuff they’ve made, raised up and properly realized. It’s repetitive, but it works, because the variation in the instrumentals, and tone, and delivery. It just works. It is Otherside’s heroic father figure whom it looks up to. I love it.
#7: Fish in a Birdcage. The icon! All of the band’s stranger and more strings-based stuff, given the Long Way From Home treatment. Or I guess it’s the other way around. Whatever. It’s weird as shit, it sounds awful on first listen but it somehow sounds amazing after a few more. And the sound is not something you get in any other song, period. Acquired taste incarnate, and I love it for that.
#6: Arizona. The other secret rule!! For the unaware, Arizona is a song that has been recorded and made, but they haven’t decided what rule number it should be. Thus, it’s regulated to a YouTube video if you’d like to listen. And if you didn’t notice the placement, you should. It just… I don’t even know. The vocals and the guitar fit so perfectly, the melody has that quiet quiet, LOUD thing like in magic but perfected. It just works for me. Something about it.
#5: Pyre. Ohhhhh, Pyre. How I adore you. The accordion(actually it might just be two violins but whatevs) that you get nowhere else in their music. The warmth, the vocals, it’s like the motivational parts of Child of the Stars taken to its peak. The type of song that makes you believe people care about you. Fantastic, wonderful, beautiful. I adore it.
#4: Birds of a Feather. I LIED!! THIS is the best summer walk song. Jovial, happy, tells a wonderful story (that’s based off a real Irish pirate queen), has hints of pyre in its tune. And, lemme talk about the importance of preserving history like this. Ireland got fucked over by the British. A lot of culture got erased. And that two-sentence summary really doesn’t convey it. But things like this preserve a truly vast and enthralling culture that is halfway lost to time in modern day. I’m not Irish, but I am a lover of history. And knowing the culture Ireland and so many other places lost, the culture it’s still bleeding today… it makes this song mean a lot more.
#3: Through the Tides. This song is a goddamn lullaby, and that is said in the best way possible. The ethereal and misty melody at the beginning, the gentle and constant picking of an acoustic guitar. The beautiful high notes on a violin to accent it, the almost mystical and mythologized story told through the lyrics. It makes me care so much, feel so comforted, by a theoretical whale that I have never once heard of before. Calm and peace incarnate, makes me feel like a cloud of mist. A blade, gently gliding through the tides.
#2: Paperwork. Paperwork! PAPERWORK!!! This feels like a thesis for Fish in a Birdcage as a band. Freeing listeners from routine patterns of thought, the warm resonations of a wayward writers guitar. Also, I adore the tone and message. It criticizes industrialism, but it’s not angry, or rude, or vitriolic. At worst it’s jokingly chastising the listener. Relax, my guy! It’s a fixable problem! Kick back, don’t have a fucken heart attack over it. Just plant some trees, live your life, create things. Don’t get caught up in the paperwork. I love the meaning of the song, if you couldn’t tell. The music is great too, the relaxed, happy tune. The one-minute monologue at the start that they honestly make work really well. It’s just great. I love it.
#1: Waterfall. Are you surprised? I don’t think you are. The vocals are goddamn perfect. The melody, waxing and waning between gentle picking to rhythmic strumming. The drums always different, the beautifully timed symbol crashes that accent everything perfectly. The little “Hey!” In the background after every verse, the fucking transcendent basswork. God, the basswork. I posted about it earlier and that genuinely inspired this list. The story of two people the song tells, the genuinely perfect, and I mean perfect way of conveying the spark of love. It makes my heart flutter. Just… thinking about the scenario in context of most anything, it makes me get it. It being… love. That spark. Why do you think I refer to love as flame more often than not in my writing? And!!! It’s four and a half minutes too! This is the opposite of insubstantial!! Everything about this song is near-perfect, and I will never get tired of it. It’s mixture of meaning and restraint and simplicity and sheer just being nice on the ears is a solidification of everything I love about this band. It deserves my number one.
That’s the list! Except for Fish in an 8bitcage but somebody else technically made that and also I haven’t listened to it so shh. Feel free to comment on my opinions, tell me I’m wrong, right, whatever. You can comment your own opinions too! Or maybe you’ve never listened to a single song from this band, then you can comment about that. You get the memo. Have a nice day.

I didn't make myself cry while writing this. What are you talking about? Anygay, inspired by this post
TW: PTSD episode in the last one
How to care for a Morgan
Remind them to use their cane:
Kicho looked at Morgan in the eye. "Where is your cane?"
"Ahaha... I forgot it..."
"Let's get it then. You need it. I don't want you to be in pain."
"I'm sorry..."
Kicho pat their head "it's ok"
They smiled and gave him a kiss before getting their cane.
Take them out of overstimulating situations when needed:
There was a big party happening, and the Guillotine along side the Crown suspected that it could be connected to an illegal gambling ring.
Morgan and Jude were paired off along with some others to sotalize and find out some information.
Although... they kind of stood out standing in the corner with none else around them.
Looking over, he saw Morgan was fidgeting alot with their clothes, slightly ripping them.
"I need a smoke. Let's go."
Jude led Morgan onto a balcony a few rooms away from the party. They clearly started to calm down, and Jude lit a cigar.
Please help them with their hygiene:
Silvio huffed as Morgan was sat in the tub, quiet, naked, vulnerable.
He grabbed some shampoo and started washing their hair. "You're a little spoiled, ya know?"
"Huh...?"
"Honestly... I got ya..."
They smiled softly and relaxed as Silvio continued to clean them up. They both began to sing some sea shanties as Silvio cleaned them up.
It was nice. He was proud that they had trusted him to do this.
Listen to them infodumping:
Gilbert smiled and hummed as Morgan rattled off about the research that they had done, the experiments and results they had gathered, and all the good that they were doing.
In these moments, he loved them the most.
"I oh- sorry I did-"
"Don't. I love hearing this from you. It makes me more confident in my own work."
They smiled and relaxed, nipping his nose before kissing him. Then they continued happily, the two of them staying close.
Reassuring that they are safe:
"AHHH!! STOP! STOP! Please..." Morgan shook and fell into the grass as they helped Vlad tend to the garden.
Vlad was quick to go over to them and wrap them in his cloak. "What do you need, Morgan?"
Worry was evident, he hated whenever this happened, not even his power is able to free them.
"Hide me... please..." They started crying as they kept muttering pleas to stop.
Vlad nodded and took them to his room, asking Charles to get them tea and a snack.
He lay them down on his bed, bundling them up before holding them close.
"None will hurt you... never again... I'm here, my dear..." He whispered to them, trying to give them any sort of comfort while going through this.

When you get this, list 5 songs you like to listen to, publish, then send this ask to 10 of your mutuals!! (this is skelecentral’s main blog🧍♂️feel free to ignore this!)
Oooo ask game :D alr alr I'll try it!! (With youtube links for convenience)
Two - literally cry and weep and sob uncontrollably everytime I listen to this song. Love it. Personally, I really like all the Sleeping at last's numbered songs from 1 to 9 (I don't know what else to call them;; orz), but this one introduced me to all the others so it's extra especial for me lmao
The well - I don't really know how to describe this one in words. But I really love it. A lot of the the crane wives' songs scratch my brain right actually.
Dinosaurs in love - 1 minute and 6 seconds that could probably shatter anyone's soul. they didn't say goodbye. they fell in love and had parties and ate fruit and cucumber but they didn't say goodbye.
Yes I genuinely did sob while listening to this today after a few years of having discovered it
Bones in the ocean - sad sea shanty. sad sea shanty. sad sea shanty. sad sea shanty. sad sea shanty. sad se
Boreas - "promise me that you'll start where I end, and I promise to give you everything that I am" is. A line. I don't know how to describe how it makes me feel, but there are many emotions and thoughts flooding my brain all at once. I will probably make a piece of fanart with that specific line at some point. Maybe.
Bonus: Sharks with legs -
i will not elaborate
#cool ask tag#ask game#I had to contain myself otherwise I would've just started listing all of the songs I like AKDNAKDJS#it was a hard decision. but I managed. I think#(ignore the fact I technically cheated with a bonus song)#ALSO#I rlly like music but I'm not really knowledgeable in the music artist department#so if I listed any artists that could've done smth awful that im not aware of. please don't hesitate to let me know so i can look into it#in a more positive sentiment though. if anyone has artist and music recs I'm always open to listen to new stuff#I don't really have a favorite genre either#🎉🎉🎉YIPPEE

Dad and I put the (for now) finishing touches on his music room, and each of us picked out 3 records from the 70's we'd like to hang on the walls. He went with: The Eagles "Their Greatest Hits 71 - 75," Cat Stevens "Tea For the Tillerman" and The Minglewood Band "Green Album" (The Minglewood Band are a hot as shit blues rock band from Cape Breton that been playing and touring since 1974). As for me:
Stan Rogers "Between the Breaks... Live!". This one was for Dad. He introduced me to Stan at a very young age, but it was only when I got into my 20's that I really started listening. Amazing cross Canadian narratives. Between the Breaks does some of those songs (this was the first recording of Mary Ellen Carter available to hear, I think), but he also does songs by other folkies, traditional songs, a shanty of his own making. And First Christmas, which makes me cry. It's this reminder that Christmas isn't always holly jolly for everyone; it's a difficult time of year. And Stan captured that in an amazing way. Personal annecdote: Dad wrote a sequel to that song (that will never be heard outside his head) so that the characters would have a happy life. I don't think it's really necessary; sometimes sad stories don't have happy endings or get solved in a neat way.
Big Star "#1 Record." The band that could of been the American answer to The Beatles and the album that should of rocketed them into rock history. Neither of those things happened, and the band became this buried gem that you really had to dig to find. But holy smokes, it's a find. Thirteen is an incredibly beautiful song about crushing on someone for the first time when you're young, The Ballad of el Goodo has some sweet drum fills that light up my day, the guitar work in Watch the Sunrise is awesome. The whole album is enough to fill a greatest hits compilation.
George Thorogood and the Destroyers first album. They'd get radio play later on, but this first album is the sound of a blue bar band just going for it. It's mostly covers of now blues standards with a couple of originals in the mix (Delaware Slide is a nasty piece of guitar work), but it doesn't matter who or what they're doing, they're playing like it's their last chance to get paid. I found it by accident (or it was waiting for me) and immediately realized that there's more than just "clean" blues rock that Clapton does.

goodnight!!! tell me why the hell im getting so emotional For my sister going off to college. we leave for the airport in literally 3 hours (as of writing this) and she's still at our kitchen table laughing and chatting with her friends and as I type this I shit you not two of them did an acapella duet of a song I've never heard in my life but sounds like a sea shanty. anyways. I'm just listening to them through the door like oh my god they're all friends she's gonna miss them so much. and again as I type this post my mom came downstairs and said "I'm gonna miss you guys" to all her friends since she always has friends over and god shit now I'm gonna cry I love (most of) my sister's friends. whatever. anyways. even though I'm driving my mom and sister to the airport which means I will be up very soon, I did NOT like what I did last time when I made my goodnight post after I got back from the airport. granted I did end up hanging out at my friends house at like 5 in the morning which Was hilarious but by the time I got back a goodnight post just felt inappropriate. like NOW is bedtime because it's the first time I'm going to sleep at night. so. goodnight. see you soon.

For the music asks, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, & 16
Rattling the cage again, bestie. 👀👀
3. Song for summertime. Hmmm, I feel I've got to give it to a sea shanty for this one, one that I played to death on the beach last year: The Last Shanty by The Celtic Connection. Sea Shanties for Thots is the best playlist anyone has ever made.
5. Song that needs to be played LOUD. Drumming Song by Florence and the Machine. If you aren't playing it loud, then how the hell are you playing it? Really, this applies to all Florence songs, even the soft ones. Play them all loud, let them heal your spirit.
6. Song that makes me want to dance. Two interpretations could apply here: songs that move me to dance and songs that make me wish I knew how to dance. Dancing with Myself by Billy Idol will always make me dance, but Lone Digger by Caravan Palace makes me wish I could dance properly.
7. Song to drive to. Honestly, sea shanties are best for this too. Barrett's Privateers by The Real McKenzies.
10. Song that makes me sad. It has to be Green Fields of France, specifically the version by The High Kings. The singer serenades the grave of a soldier named Willie McBride. I can only listen to it sparingly because it makes me cry almost from the first line "Well, how do ya do, young Willie McBride? Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside?" Like, I'm tearing up just talking about it. It just moves you like that.
12. Answered here! But, if I had to pick another one, My Heart by Paramore. Do I have to say anything else? I don't think so.
16. A favorite classical song. Hold up, let me throw on Slavonic Dance, Op. 46: No.8 in G Minor and fcking vibrate out of my skin real quick.

I was tagged by @onmywaytonarnia so here's some stuff about me
Nickname: Florida Man or just Florida (god help me, I hate it down here...)
Sign: PEDESTRIAN X-ING, REST AREA - 3 MILES, or perhaps SPEEDING FINES DOUBLED WHEN WORKERS PRESENT (I do not believe in astrology)
Height: 6'1" or 6'2"
Last thing I googled: Perseverance rover
Song stuck in my head: for some reason I have a mashup of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls and Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson stuck in my head. I don't know if I actually heard a mashup somewhere, or if they were both part of that 4-chords song by Axis of Awesome, but I can't stop thinking of the two choruses layered on top of each other (🎶and I don't want the world to see me cause I don't think that they'd understand/🎶I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly🎶)
Follower count: officially 3222, but I noticed when I was just starting out that tumblr inflated the actual count by like 20, 30, 40%. When it said I had 100 followers, I counted, and I actually had 85. When it said I had 1000, I only had like 700. I stopped counting after that, so I have no clue how many I actually have right now. Probably more than 1000, but probably not more than 2000. I have maybe 100 followers who regularly interact with my stuff, about 30 of whom are mutuals (maybe 10 or 15 close friends).
Amount of aleep: AHAHAHAHAHAHA (5, maybe 6 hours on a good night? Sometimes none, just endless tossing and turning because my brain won't shut off)
Lucky number: 13, and I'm not being ironic about that. I'm serious. 13 is my favorite number of a variety if personal reasons
Dream job: I want to be part of a creative team, I want to work with a bunch of people to make something for people to see! I want to make art, and I want to collaborate so I'm not alone. Writing scripts or making props or dressing sets, some manner of production design. I want to craft!
Wearing: Goodfellow t-shirt and cargo shorts
Movie/book that summarizes me: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir feels like it was written for me personally. That is how my thought process works, that is how I deal with problems, that is who I want to be. I have a higher than average understanding of math and science but I always try to explain it in as simple terms as possible for people who find it all too daunting. This is the kind of book I want to write, sci-fi that explains the sci.
Favorite songs: Ramblin Man, the Gambler, Country Roads, the Devil Went Down to Georgia (I'm noticing a country pattern...), anything by Weird Al Yankovic (Hardware Store and Albuquerque are probably my top 2 of his),the Little Shop of Horrors movie soundtrack, White Squall and Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers (I went through a sea shanty phase when Wellerman was big), anything by Jonathan Coulton (Skullcrusher Mountain, Code Monkey, Blue Sunny Day, Big Wide World One, Shop Vac, Mandelbrot Set, to name a few), Climb Out Your Window, Addicted, and Here We Go by Walk off the Earth, and the Celtic Woman cover of Danny Boy (this is my go-to cry song; if I need a nice long cry, I put this on and it all comes flowing out of me)
Favorite instrument: I love brass, trumpet specifically, I could listen to Louis Armstrong all day
Aesthetic: analog technology, typewriters, instant photography, clockwork watches without quartz, sacrificing convenience for the sake of privacy, nostalgia for the early 2000s (but through the eyes of a child, so no George W. Bullshit)
Favorite author: per capita, Andy Weir. He's only written 3 books, but I love them all and want to emulate him. Max Brooks for World War Z. Cormac McCarthy for The Road (very depressing, but hopeful near the end; one of the only books to really tug at my heartstrings). John Steinbeck for Of Mice and Men (another heartstring tugger). Audrey Niffenegger for The Time Traveler's Wife.
Currently reading: Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
Favorite colors: cyan, lime green, heliotrope purple
Favorite animal sounds: the scuttling of crabs on pavement, the sneef-snorfing of a curious dog, the bleat of a baby goat, the EHHH of a baby sloth, the MEHH of a baby deer, the chirping of bats, ethereal whale songs
Last song: either I'm Going to go Back There Someday from the Muppet Movie, or Hey I Don't Work Here by Tom Cardy
Last Series: Owl House (Lulu + Hootcifer 4ever!!! Oh yeah and lumity's pretty good too I guess)
Random: I once learned all the lyrics to Bobby Darin's Mack the Knife without ever actually listening to the lyrics of Mack the Knife. Like, I listened to the song all the time, but I never paid attention to what was being said. It was just gibberish to me, but I learned the gibberish, and I sang along to it in the car one day and my mom asked why I was so enthusiastic about murder. Turns out Mack the Knife is about an old londontown ripper named Macheath. Still a banger though.

The Eye of the Heron
(Long time no post, aha. My life has been irrevocably changed for the better since we last spoke, and I have been fairly preoccupied with that change these last few months.)
Another Le Guin! This was not intentional. I have read other things since writing about The Left Hand of Darkness, but I just so happened to finish The Eye of the Heron right before gathering the courage to write about books again.
This book struck me as having a very interesting pacing, something Le Guin plays with a lot in her stories. The beginning eases you in to the stress between the Town and the City, setting the stage and arranging the characters for the incoming struggle.
And struggle they do, the attempts at peaceful non-compliance of the Shanty-Towners are met with arrests and even violence from the City authorities. Tensions are high and the idea of a big grand move away from the city (planted in the very first chapter when the young man Lev returns from scouting out a place for such a move) seems, to the reader, the logical conclusion to such a battle. The female lead, Luz Marina, could make an escape and run away with Lev and take all the towners with them and be peaceful away from the City, left sore and remorseful in their absence.
But Le Guin gives us no extravagant escape. Luz Marina does leave the city, but she does not run or even hurry. She leaves with a goal in mind, to warn the towners of an impending attack. She doesn't even intend to stay, and yet circumstances require it. She does not engage with Lev like some lovesick puppy as some female leads might (sorry if this is harsh, I love a flirtatious couple too but this is not that kind of book), and does not scream or cry or fight when the reader might want her to. The characters are mature, and the Shanty-Towners, instead of fleeing, meet their attackers head on.
There is a massacre, which is the beginning of the end of the book. Lev is killed. Vera (another important Town character) is also killed. Luz survives, and stays in the town, though she does not mesh.
The book glides to an end after the massacre. Better terms are negotiated between the City and the Town following the massacre, and Luz and the Towners decide to send a very small group to begin a new colony.
If I had written this book, I would have failed. I would have leaned into the City toppling due to losing the Town's supply of food. The townspeople would have fled in the middle of the night, leaving nary a trace behind them. Or the massacre would have killed them all in one fell swoop, or the whole city might have come crashing down into the town. There may have been a giant exodus, with city people joining the townspeople and all hoping for a fresh start somewhere different on their wild planet.
But no. Le Guin wants you to think. She speaks to the reader through the story and teaches them to think. Listen to the old woman Vera and her talks about men and women, peace and violence. Listen to the debate between Luz and the townspeople after the massacre. Mourn Lev with the people he left behind.
It was my gut reaction to be disappointed by the ending. It felt unresolved, but only because I selfishly wished for more happiness for the characters, more satisfaction for me, which is not necessary for a story to be resolved.
I am rambling at this point. I liked the book. I was almost disappointed, but upon immediate reflection I think she wrote a better ending than I ever could for this story.
Go read it.

⟡ LAST SONG ⟡
Anyone's Ghost - The National
⟡ LAST FILM ⟡
Aquaman 2! I haven't seen the first one but I thought it was really fun. It felt like. It was made for women? Which is a weird thought to have during a film but I noticed the lack of male gaze and was sort of transfixed by that lack. The themes of the movie were fun and it was very eventful with tons of shit happening, which was a blast.
⟡ CURRENTLY READING ⟡
'The Adventures of Superman' the 1942 novel (1995 reprint version). I'm still just in the beginning parts but I really enjoyed its depiction of Krypton. It's wild to be reading the first superhero novel.
I also pulled out the FE Chess zine i have, but I haven't actually cracked it open yet. Both are in my 'active reading pile' on my nightstand :)
⟡ CURRENTLY CRAVING ⟡
a couch for my room so i can watch tv again
the ability to finish the third chapter of the dc fic i really want to post

"One Of Those Calls", a PMATGA Oneshot
Betrayus drunkenly dials up the Round House much to the annoyance of his brother.
The sun was shining, the air was warm... a fine day. Sadly the president wouldn't have much of a chance to enjoy it, as he was stuck inside doing paperwork again. Such was the life of the leader of Pac World.
He was sitting at his desk, about to sign his name on yet another document, when the phone rang. This wasn't unusual, quite the contrary actually. He often got business calls, calls for help (usually about Pacopolis being attacked again), or... those calls. He picked it up, and forced himself to speak in a cheery tone. "Hello, you have reached the Round House. This is President Spheros."
"Ayyyy waddup, Big Cheese?"
Oh boy. It was one of those calls. "For the last time, Betrayus, stop calling this number! If you're going to prank call me, do it on my personal phone please."
"Hmmm... nope!"
"What is it this time? Are you going to announce a new plan, or are you going to hit me with one of your jokes? Gonna rant at me again maybe?"
"Nah! I just wanted to say... did I ever... d-d-did I e-ever... tell you that you are a s-s-swell person?"
"Wut?", Stratos said with a priceless WTF expression. It was then that Stratos noticed something. Betrayus' words were long and slurred, and on top of that, that was something he'd never normally say in a million years. "Betrayus", the president said sternly, "are you drunk?" "Naaaaaaaaw I'm totally soberrrrr *hic*." Yep, definitely drunk. Drunk off his ghostly tail.
Stratos was about to hang up, he didn't have time for this. "I'm hanging up, Betrayus. Now go rest and sober up."
"Awww but brotherrr!"
Stratos practically slammed the phone back down, and massaged his temples. Not even ten seconds later, the phone rang again. He picked it back up, and raised his voice. "No Betrayus!" "Uhhh... I'm just calling to order a pizza...?"
"Oh. Sorry. You have the wrong number. You have reached the Round House."
"Oh..." The person on the other end hung up. Then, of course, it rang again. He sighed, picked up the phone, and prepared himself to listen to his brother again. "I also wanted to *hic* say that Pac World suuuucks. Also... have you heard the one about-"
"No. Stop calling. I'm trying to work." Stratos hung up the phone again. This was getting ridiculous. He didn't have time to listen to Betrayus' drunken ramblings, nor did he want to. Then, it rang once more. Furious, Stratos answered the phone and shouted into it. "FOR THE LAST TIME- STOP. CALLING."
For a few seconds the other end of the line was silent. Then, what sounded like snivelling could be heard. "Oh no..." Stratos rolled his eyes, knowing what was about to come.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
"My lord", came a faint questioning voice on the other end, "there there sir." Drunk Betrayus was really something. He often got completely out of character and acted even more childish and strange than usual. Stratos was no stranger to seeing his brother in such a state. In fact, back when they still served as generals together, there was an instance where they both got wasted and sang shanties at the top of their lungs. He couldn't help but remember the memory so fondly, as it was one of the rare occasions when they had actually gotten along alright.
Betrayus continued to sob into the phone, the other person apparently trying to comfort him (he could only assume it was poor Buttler). "Betrayus."
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
"Betrayus..."
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
"BETRAYUS!" The sobbing stopped abruptly. "Huh?"
"Please... just stop crying..."
"Okay fine... but hang up again and I'll... uh... send an attack! Yeah!"
"Like they'd listen to you while you're in that state. Betrayus, please just hang up... I really, REALLY don't have time for this."
"But *hic* brother, it gets lonely down here!" "Why would you seek my company? Last I knew you hated my guts." "Uhhh..." The drunken fire ghost was at a loss for words. "Now that I think of it... how did you even get intoxicated? Isn't alcohol flammable?"
"I dunno."
"...right. Now please hang up or I will. I have work to do."
"But-"
"Now."
"You're *hic* not mummy! *mumbling* she always did like you best anyway..."
"You leave her out of this!"
"Uh... Mr. President?"
That last voice had come from one of his bodyguards, both of which were clearly concerned. "I'm fine, I'm fine... I just... need to hang up..." "-and that's not even the half of it", Betrayus drunkenly continued. "she gave you e-everything... and me, I got jaaaaaaaaack *hic* squaaaaat. Far as I was concerned, she hated me..."
"No she didn't."
"Yes she did."
"No. She. Didn't."
"Uh-huh!"
"Okay so maybe I WAS the favorite... but she still kept and took care of you. Now I'm going to hang up and-"
"Did YOU hate me?"
"I'm sorry... what?"
"Wouldn't surprise me. You always were on top... leavin' me behind... pickin' on me just like the other kids..." He was beginning to snivel again. He continued to depressingly rant about it, clearly a result of his intoxication. "I..." Stratos actually found himself at a loss. "I've never HATED you…"
"Really?"
"Really. Now hang up. Get sober. ...and probably go into a rage later." "Okie dokie." Click. What… just happened? That was by far the closest he'd ever come to telling his little brother that he loved him ever since… he shuddered at the sudden flashback.
It was so many years ago, yet the memory was fresh as ever in his brain… Betrayus' screams and shrieks of agony as he was stripped of his body and banished to the Nether Realm. Oh how those screams haunted him so. As Betrayus and his army were forced into the portal, he yelled that he'd be back, repeatedly cursing his brother and saying that he hated him among other things that would make a sailor's words look tame.
In spite of all of his unforgivable crimes against Pacmanity, Stratos simply didn't have it in him to have his brother destroyed for good, a choice that would prove to be a very grave mistake. He should have disposed of Betrayus while he had the chance. But, he was too damn soft. His grip around his pen tightened, the force threatening to snap it in half. With a grunt, he put down the pen and lifted the phone back up. He dialed, and a familiar low, meek voice answered. "Hello?", said Buttler in a slightly confused tone. "I… need to speak with my brother. I have to tell him something I haven't in a very, very long time."

I love how Mumbai and Goa would seem different countries as how Shivika have moved on to the next day while Rikara are still at the party. I skimmed that the last time but iss bar himmat karke pura dekhti hun 😭
Also, Veer is a mood and a creep for watching Shivika 24x7 (his laughs lmao, we're supposed to take him seriously?)
Every extra on this show is fake 😭 I know they bullied some crew member to act, like what is this. Omkara is shorter than Tej ?? 🧐
Omkara grabbing Gauri. Don't let her go!!! Run with her. I wish the couples on this show fell into this mess together 😭 it's a rare occurrence but it's always better to flop with someone.
Why did I skip this on my first watch. My poor birds got like 2 mins of total screentime and maybe 30 seconds of conversation 💀
I love how 80% of my first watch was for Shivika and one day I woke up and saw Rikara and now I sit through all these scenes again to find crumbs and cry about it. Oh wow it's bad for them.
I love how this ghostlady (veer' real wife apparently) gently held her hand out to Anika and the moment she held it started a weird hand pushing fight with her lmaooo.
Honestly is there a point to the Tia blindness plot or do they just skip explaining it? I don't think I've ever paid attention to it.
Noooo Gauri is about to jump in the trap my baby 😭💔. Since it's going to be stupid I'm muting it Gauri NOOOO. Aah much better on mute.
One thing about Omkara he's at least gentle with her post the nonsense he pulled pre Bareilly. I know the other brothers would've flipped 😭 Poor Gauri though 💔 it's okay
One thing about this show and me that has stayed consistent is my ears grating and my soul leaving my body everytime someone's says ishqbaaz. (also i just realised dadi quit talking to dadaji after episode 1 😹)
Soumya and Bhavya sitting together 💀 Also considering Rudra is already giving explanations to Shivaay to listen to both sides, he's clearly still an asshat my girl needs saving from. #howdoisaveherfromthescreen
Soumya is so #real.
WHY DO YOU LOVE HIM BHAVYA?!? eggsplain 🥚🥚🥚
I think one thing consistent about them is abruptness. Like isn't this random as hell. Like one day they woke up and decided Rudy marriage time. I wish they got a little privacy 😭
Shivaay said Khushi and we pan to Veer ofc who has superhero listening skills.
At least Veer is as observant as us. He knows he doesn't need to do something Anika will make an issue of and make Shivaay do. Time to count the poisoned notes!
Tejsasuma again. Weird how this show makes it terribly hard for anyone to redeem Pinky but Jhanvi gets a free pass for all the shit she pulls or is a part of. 💀 I know the fam has a soft spot for her but we need to let that #go.
Pandit is more professional than these idiots.
Omkara you should be the one hugging gauri. But hey dadi will do too.
How did no one see Tej setting up the puja stuff 💀 The way he could've said she's dead to him and ignored her like Shivaay ignored Pinky but nope, khurafaati dimaag hai inka, shanti se chain kahan miley. Kar diya shradh.
Big on Tej thinking he has any authority making decisions for Omkara. 💀
Hug my girl! Wow I think y'all could've given that poor girl something to say before cutting to Rudra eating a sandwich like someone just performed her last rites 😭
No way we cut to the scenes to listen to Sandwich calorie and recipe talks 💔
Rudy might not know a single thing about his fucking relationship but he's bang on about other people's 😹😭. Him saying his mom and dad still haven't begun the marriage part.
Poor Gauri has to cry every 2-3 business days.
The Pinky actress eats it up. Her saying Oh My Mata still sends it's soooo 😭❤️
Gauri crying in a room alone 😭
On the one hand I absolutely love the fact that Shivri have that thing where if he ensures her, she's calm. On the other hand I would've sorta traded it for a corn chip had I gotten a Rikara one. Also pls we know Shivaay is broken about this. Not the 5 minute conversation on this 😭
Not Anika saying he needs to take care of all this, give my man a break. Yes he's the wall or whatever but damn.
The first time we get to see Omkara put Sindoor on our girl 🧐
(also i wish y'all got at least some legal document signing paper ceremony 😭 or are we still running strong on the temple marriage)
The way Om was lulled out of dreamland by Anika.
for all the nonsense I'm typing here this scene means so much to them and so much to me. maybe more to me.
a very weird scene for me to confess my love for Shrenu but like they've replayed this scene a gajjilion times to the point where I'd be on my deathbed and remember it but it's so !!!! Like everytime I see her close her eyes I'm right there with her for the gajjilionth time. UGH i love her. Shrenu come get your forehead kiss.
he was kinda surprised to give back the plate too 😂
AAAH him wiping her tears
Anika is ME.
the way Bhavya might be the only one of them to get all of this pre wedding niceness before her 1st proper wedding. Had to go through a lot though 😭
Rudy dragging omkara for siding with Gauri 😂😭
how is Shivaay's back not breaking? Not only does he handle all the stress and hate of the family, he's the only one observant enough to see Bhavya tear up and the rest of the 4 are right there 💀
his mini faint will be a little bit of respite
If they have only one room in the house, where were these guys sleeping during the carnival episodes? 🧐
Watched this episode to her Omi Kumari Sharma. ❤️😂
It's kinda stupid how hopeful and wishful I get thinking about what Rikara and honestly all of this show could've been in 2021 when I know how it ended💀. Like watching them bicker a little, i would do with crumbs.
#rikara#s12#ishqbaaz#poor shivaay#tej asking for omru again#bitch youre dumb for someone pegged to be smart
