what's mano?
Glad u asked!! It’s a gesture practiced in Filipino households. You take the hand of an elder (grandma, older relative, etc) and put it to your forehead. it’s both a sign of respect and translates to asking for a blessing (“your hand, please”)
You usually do it when you see an old person or the first thing you do when you enter a household (in my case, that’s why I had to fight the urge to Mano an old Italian lady lol). I was raised in Canada so idk if there’s more to it, but that’s the gist of it.
Also I think it’s ok for non-filipinos to do this in a Filipino household? They demonstrated this in Craig of the creek, it was really cute.
#I love sharing my culture!!! love talking about things that are dear to me!! /pos#my aunts and uncles are getting around that age where they get a Mano too so sometimes I’ll have to Mano them#not mandatory like my grandma though. depends on each household!#like my uncle will just bap the back of his hand on my forehead unexpectedly and that’s it lol#thanks so much for asking!!! if any Filipinos wanna add on go for it but I think I covered the basics?
