Sorry to bother you but I saw one of your posts about being a flight attendant? And Iā€™m wondering if you like it? I never considered it bc I thought I was too short but I recently found out Iā€™m not so Iā€™m likeā€¦ super curious
Hey love! No bother at all I love talking about being a flight attendant! To me itā€™s been the best job for me because I love to travel and I need a job thatā€™s fast-paced and unpredictable. Get to see some amazing places, flying is basically free and you meet some amazing people.
(LENGTHY POST. Iā€™m gonna lay out the rest of the job under a read more bc so many people are unprepared for it and it takes a lot to get used to)
However, it is a HUGE life style change and most likely youā€™d be taking a significant pay cut. You will be based in whatever base city the airline places you and more often than not you wonā€™t get your first choice so youā€™ll most likely have to move. If you can swing it thereā€™s crash pads in bases where you basically rent/share a room with other various crew members who commute from different places as well. Iā€™ve never done it but itā€™s possible. Also if you have friends/family that live in or near the city youā€™re based thatā€™s an option for the days youā€™re on call. Youā€™d most likely not be around much anyway. But you have to be prepared for the very likely possibility that you will have to work in a completely different state than where you live. Roommates are going to be your best bet if you are willing to move.
Now for the pay you get paid per flight hour so basically from the time the main cabin door closes to when it opens. That means any of the times you are sitting in the airport or sitting at the gate with the door open youā€™re not getting paid. Iā€™ve had a an hour and a half sit at the gate and got paid for none of it because the door was open. It sucks. You do get paid per diem for all of the time you are out of base so that helps and depending on the airline you work for you can get night flying pay for red-eyes and purser pay if youā€™re the lead flight attendant for that trip. But you have to work A LOT to make a liveable income which is why having roommates is your best bet. The longer youā€™re with the company the easier it gets bc you make more money each year (or you can marry a pilot) but you really have to grind in the beginning.
Lastly, when you just start out you are on reserve which basically means youā€™re on call and get used as needed. Most times youā€™ll be able to stay at home on reserve and if they call you have 2-3 hours to arrive at the airport hence why you need to be in your base city. Thereā€™s also airport standby where you have to be at the airport in uniform and stay in the crew room for around 5 hours in case they need someone to work immediately. You donā€™t choose the trips you get but that doesnā€™t mean you always get shitty trips.
Depending on how long youā€™ve been with the company or your baseā€™s operational needs youā€™ll become whatā€™s known as a line holder which is when you wonā€™t be on call and can coordinate your schedule the way you want. But everything is based off of seniority so the people most senior in the company get their first choices and you get whatā€™s left. As a reserve you can bid for your days off and as a lineholder you bid for trips. Itā€™s all an adjustment.
All in all I hope this doesnā€™t completely scare you off bc it is a lot to handle and itā€™s definitely not for everybody but if itā€™s something that you really want then I say go for it! Training can be stressful but I also find it fun bc thatā€™s where you first make friends and bond with your class. I always encourage everyone to go for it and I hope if you do you love it šŸ’œ

Strike Support Declining - Here's how you can continue to support the writers
Since the WGA strike started on May 2, the public has shown immense support for the writersā€”sending food, snacks, drinks, and encouragement from across the world all the way to Los Angeles, New York, and other picketing locations.
But loud and vocal strike supportā€”in the news and in public spacesā€”is notably declining the longer the strike goes on. So we're bringing you a few ways to show writers, studios, and fellow fans: we're still here, and we still stand with the WGA.
1. Post on Twitter (and other social media sites)
You might think social media noise won't be noticed by the studios, but it CAN encourage individual WGA membersā€”and slowly but surely put pressure on the studios to make a fair deal.
If you follow WGA members such as Adam Conover (Adam Ruins Everything), John Rogers (Leverage, Librarians), Gennifer Hutchison (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost, The Witcher) [and many many more you can find through their following lists], tell them you support them! Hashtag #IStandWithTheWGA #DoTheWriteThing and tell them that you and your fandom are prepared to support them as long as the strike lasts; that they deserve to have their demands met and you're with them all the way. Boost morale however and whenever you can!
Likewise, actively push back against misinformation/disinformation. See a TikTok claiming that all Hollywood writers are filthy rich and we shouldn't vocally support them? Correct it with well-sourced citations from the WGA, published news articles, and stories from those affected (like the time a writer on FX's The Bear attended the an awards show with his bank account balance in the negative, only to then win an award for Best Comedy Seriesā€”proving that good writers on award-winning shows still cannot make a living!)
Remember you can always link to Adam Conover's excellent explanation of WGA demands versus studio refusals, tweeted here.
2. Donate or boost fundraisers
You might be surprised to learn that the picketing locations are not always parties! Sometimes themed pickets are fun, and fandoms and celebrities occasionally are able to fundraise for a food truck or ice cream truck at picketing locations. However, that is the EXCEPTION and not the norm. Writers are asking for food & drinks at many locations.
There are many funds to donate to, and it can be overwhelming to pick one! But one that could use your support RIGHT NOW is the CBS Radford picket line:
Tumblr media
-If you're in LA, you can bring food and snacks directly to that picket line (or get food deliveries sent there, with instructions to be given to the strike captain on duty.) Strike locations are available on the WGA West website and are updated there.
-Or there's a pizza fund for the strike locations (unfortunately Venmo is a US-only donation option)
Tumblr media
-If you're not in LA, donate to the Entertainment Community Fund to support TV and film workers affected by the strike.
-More tips on donating to the strike in this great article!
-Lots of fandoms are organizing donations on their own, for instance the Our Flag Means Death fundraiser on Paypal (updated 30 July 2023 with new link) (available internationally). Check to see if your fandom has started a fundraiser... or start one yourself to show your support! We're happy to give tips on organizing your fandom!
As always, please boost this post and any and all well-sourced information that comes from the WGA or its members. We're happy to fact-check anything you send our way too.

Art raffle for Mohammed: prints by @horreurscopes!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alex (horreurscopes) is very generously offering these 8 gorgeous original prints to benefit Mohammed Iwais's gofundme campaign!
Mohammed @mohdiwais lives with his family in Gaza, where they have now endured 8 displacements since October 7. As of writing this (29 Aug.), his family has been separated in their most recent displacement, and half of them are sleeping on the streets. Mohammed is the provider for his siblings and their children, and his family also has injured and sick members. He wants to evacuate his most vulnerable family members as soon as possible; in the meantime, necessities like food and medicine are exorbitantly expensive in Gaza right now. verified by @/90-ghost and more details about the family here.
Raffle entries are 150 SEK (approx. $15 USD) each. You can enter as many times as you like, and the raffle will close at midnight PDT on 12 September (that's two weeks to enter!).
All of these prints can be shipped internationally.
To enter, submit proof of your donation (with date, amount, and campaign name visible) to this google form; if you have any issues you can email proof to [email protected] instead.
Mohammed's Gofundme link; donate now!
More details and additional photos of the prints available under the cut:
The raffle will close at end of day (midnight PDT, UTC -7) on 12 September.
I will then randomly draw 8 winners, and you'll choose which print you want. Winners choose in the order I drew them, so not all winners will be able to choose from all three designs.
I'll contact winners by your method of choice (tumblr url or email address);Ā make sure you respond within 48 hours, or you forfeit your win and I'll have to re-draw!
If you have any problems with the submission form, you can also email entries to [email protected]. Make sure all donation receipts have the donation amount, date, and campaign name visible. You can email them as attachments or inline images.
Sizes vary by design, but each is a few inches larger than standard US letter size. Measurements are shown in the first set of photos :-)

Hello, everyone.
This may be the finest and most important article I've written since the creation of this blog, so kindly read it carefully and pay attention.
And share it so that everyone can see it.
There are many events happening tonight, and I will try to summarize them for you so that you have a complete understanding of what is happening.
Twelve days ago, a gruesome incident occurred, most of you have probably heard of it: the occupation forces shelled the Al-Ma'madani Hospital in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over a thousand people, including patients, their families, doctors, and young children.
Has the occupation been content with this? The answer is no.
Since that day, they have been threatening another hospital, Al-Quds Hospital, with the promise of bombing it, leaving civilians and patients inside in a state of terror, awaiting death at any moment.
The first time this happened, it spread across social media platforms, especially Twitter, and many people protested, causing the occupation to halt its actions.
Today, twelve days after the Al-Ma'madani Hospital massacre, they have once again sent severe threats to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) for the immediate evacuation of Al-Quds Hospital, as it is destined to be bombed.
Tumblr media
"šŸ”“ Urgent: We have just received severe threats demanding the immediate evacuation of Al-Quds Hospital as it is set to be bombed.
Since the early hours of the morning, the vicinity of Al-Quds Hospital has been witnessing continuous airstrikes, resulting in the destruction of some buildings within a 50-meter radius.
šŸ“¢ Please share, save Al-Quds Hospital! šŸ“¢
#GazaUnderAttack #GazaUnderSiege #Save_Al-Quds_Hospital
"
The second matter, three days ago, specifically on Friday, the twenty-seventh of this month, the occupation completely isolated Gaza from the world by cutting off the internet, telecommunications, and electricity. They were prepared for a brutal massacre that occurred that night and lasted for two days.
I'm talking about indiscriminate bombardment using all kinds of weapons on all areas of Gaza, whether they were churches, mosques, schools, or homes, regardless of their occupants, be they children, young people, women, or the elderly.
During that period, social media platforms and indeed the entire world were abuzz with the issue.
People from various backgrounds, nationalities, and religions unanimously agreed that it was inhumane to isolate them from the world and deny them the right to have a voice.
They were searching for solutions they could implement.
Some took to the streets, demanding the return of the internet, while others began sharing their plight on social media, primarily on Twitter.
They reached out to activists and officials who had the means to help.
Tumblr media
One of the most prominent solutions that everyone turned to was contacting Elon Musk, the former owner of Twitter (X) and the current owner of SpaceX, to enable the people of Gaza to use the internet via Starlink's private satellites.
They hoped that he would hear their plea, as it was their only hope.
He tweeted:
"Starlink will support connectivity to internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza.
[ComStar]
"
Tumblr media
On the same day, five hours after the publication of this tweet, the Israeli Minister of Communications commented on it, saying, in essence, that they would use all available means to prevent the supply of Starlink internet to Gaza because Hamas would utilize it. He also threatened that if this were to occur, he would sever all his office's ties with Starlink.
Now, let's discuss the issue of hostages for a moment because it is of utmost importance to understanding the situation.
On the twenty-fourth of this month, Yasmin Porat, one of the hostages, came forward to talk about her experiences during her captivity.
I will now share some of what she mentioned in the interview:
She stated that Israeli forces eliminated everyone, including hostages, amid heavy crossfire and tank shelling.
She highlighted the contrasting behavior of Palestinian fighters who offered hope for safe passage to Gaza. Israeli forces disrupted this hope with a storm of gunfire.
Palestinian fighters treated the hostages humanely, offering them hope of a safe passage to Gaza, despite the chaos.
This compassionate act stands in stark contrast to the chaos that unfolded.
After the interview was broadcast, it was completely deleted and blocked from all social media platforms and even from Kan's website. Moreover, Yasmin's account mysteriously disappeared from the "Haboker Hazeh" program, raising concerns of censorship.
Below, you will find the interview recording.
During that period, the Al-Qassam Brigades continued their communication with the Israeli government in order to release some prisoners for humanitarian reasons, including their age and health, among them two elderly women, one of whom is named Yohav Levisheitz.
But the Israeli government showed no interest in the matter whatsoever.
As a result, they decided to release the two elderly women.
Before leaving, one of them, Yohav Levisheitz, insisted on shaking hands with one of the resistance fighters who she was their captor, as you can see in the following video.
-Tumblr doesn't allow me to post two videos in a single post, so I will provide the video link on the blog-:
https://www.tumblr.com/storiesfromgaza/732027117370572800/al-qassam-brigades-released-two-of-the-hostages?source=share
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this, she insisted on participating in a press conference to share her experience, saying:
"When we arrived in Gaza, they initially told us that they believed in the Quran and that they wouldn't harm us.
They said they would treat us as they do with those around them.
We were under tight security, and medical professionals arrived to ensure we had the medications we always took.
They showed great concern for our health.
Our place of rest was the mattresses.
We had an accompanying doctor who would visit us every two or three days to check on our well-being.
In addition to a paramedic who looked after us and provided us with our medications.
They took on the responsibility and made sure to provide the necessary medications.
They looked after our hygiene meticulously to safeguard our health so that we wouldn't fall ill.
It was they who took care of cleaning the restrooms, not us.
They provided us with everything we needed, and I acknowledge their help in that.
If equivalent medications weren't available, they offered suitable alternatives.
They were remarkably courteous (kind) and ensured we ate well, sharing the same food they ate (bread, cheese, and cucumbers)
We were treated with kindness, and they paid meticulous attention to every detail.
Women among them understood the importance of feminine hygiene and ensured we had everything we needed.
Hamas had meticulously planned everything for a long time, providing us with everything we required, even down to shampoo and conditioner.
The inefficiencies of the army and Shabak (Israel Security Agency - ISA) greatly impacted us; we were pawns in the government's game."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this, Western media outlets, with CNN at the forefront, distorted Yohav's words and published that she said, "I went through hell."
BBC, on the other hand, released two versions of the statement.
They published the original statement by Yohav on their account dedicated to the Arab audience, while on their accounts for Western and Indian audiences, they published a manipulated version of her statement that included the same content as previously published by CNN.
Tumblr media
These are the testimonies of two different women captives, both of whom unanimously agree that they were treated with excellent humane treatment, and no one tortured them or attempted to harass or disturb them.
On the other hand, both of them agree that Israel did not care about their safety in any way and, in fact, they would open fire in the presence of the hostages, leaving behind lifeless bodies hit by their deadly bullets.
Now, let's focus for a moment on the point of Israel and the prisoners.
Two days ago, Abu Ubaida, the official spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, made a lengthy recorded speech in which he spoke about the prisoners.
He said:
"There have been numerous contacts in the prisoner file, and there was an opportunity to reach an agreement, but they delayed and did not show real seriousness in releasing the prisoners.
Instead, its barbaric shelling and continuous crimes have led to the killing of nearly fifty of them so far."
Do you understand now that Israel does not care about the prisoners at all, as it claims, and that their use of the prisoner issue is merely to prevent Elon Musk from providing internet access via Starlink in Gaza for its residents?

šŸ’ššŸ‘»šŸ‘½šŸ‘»šŸ’š
ā€œHis control over his emotions slipped during the interview,ā€ Jā€™onn sighs, hovering alongside Bruce as they carry down the hall.
Bruce grunts. He isnā€™t quite capable of complicated speech yet. The teenage alien crying, too scared to let even the internationally-favorite, universally beloved Wonder Woman hold him without screamingā€¦a person he already knew would take care of himā€¦
Jā€™onn continues, nevertheless. The thin privacy of his mind aside, Bruce has always appreciated the Martianā€™s understanding of Bruceā€™s oft-shifting moods. ā€œHis memories of his home and his family were tied up with extensive pain. I would continue under the assumption that his human family turned on him after discovering his natureā€”there may have even been collateral damage to others around them at the time.ā€
Bruce breathes in. Bruce breathes out.
ā€œHe thought himself akin enough to humans to be betrayed when he was seen as an 'other'. He knows that he is far from home, he knows that he has been targeted for his non-human traits and abilities, and he has reasons to think that he may not return againā€”what they are, I could not tell, but the sentiment was clear. This escape was purposeful, as was commandeering the vehicle he used to do so. He is alone. He is scared.ā€
ā€œKnown or unknown threat?ā€ Bruce growls, not quite up to elongating his bite into a full sentence. Jā€™onn is more than skilled enough to skim lightly over the words, and match them to Batmanā€™s pointed fury.
ā€œOur patient is familiar with the threat. I could not recognize the insignia or acronym from his memories, but they had enough resources to keep him captive and aliveā€”without food or water. Likely, for a lengthy amount of time.ā€
Bruceā€™s near-running stride slows to a stop. Jā€™onn, ever-patient, floats to a standstill beside him.
ā€œNo food,ā€ Bruce confirms, just to make sure he heard correctly.
Jā€™onn nods.
ā€œNo water.ā€
ā€œThere was an alternative method used to keep him alive, although the details werenā€™t significant to him in his flashback. The method may have been possible due to his minor healing ability, or something unique to his species.ā€
No food, Bruce thinks. No water. Kept alive as a function. Worried that heā€™s meant to be used as a weapon, kept in isolation, afraid of what humans in uniform might require of him for help.
This isnā€™t just torture. It is, specifically targeting a half-human entity, entirely purposeful dehumanization.
Of a child.
Of a child.
Bruce inhales. Bruce exhales.
This is not something that will be solved short-term. He has to keep an eye on the long-term goals for this teenā€”safety, recovery, reassurance, and reintegration.
Doable. All he has to do is break larger goals down into reasonable steps.
ā€œUpdate the pediatric psychiatrist that Dr. Martin referred him to on the details.ā€ Bruceā€™s demand comes out as flat as it gets. It is hard, when heā€™s stressed, to make his words hit with any intonation. Everything he forces out is precise. To the point.
Jā€™onn nods. ā€œI will.ā€
ā€œThis is personal medical information, to be accessed only on a need to know basis.ā€ Ā
Jā€™onn floats slightly higher, something relaxed in his face. This is a significant gesture, meant to remind everyone involved that this is a child, not a resource, and not a mission to be solved. This is a patient. ā€œUnderstood.ā€
ā€œIf you pass this on to Diana, do it in person. Minimizing documentationā€¦ā€ Bruce falters. There isnā€™t a strong, authoritarian way to phrase how he feels about being someone to store clinically cold information about a boy who had likely been imprisoned, if not actively experimented on, if not actively tortured. How he needed to minimize behaviors that would exactly model what was done to the boy by his captors.
A smile flickers over Jā€™onnā€™s expression. Itā€™s suitably fleeting, but it comes and it goesā€”and itā€™s extremely polite of him to emote so visibly for Bruceā€™s sake. He makes sure to project his appreciation as best he knows howā€”blindly, without a telepathic sense to know what Jā€™onn will and will not see.
ā€œUnderstood, Batman.ā€
Bruce grunts.
They split at the end of the hallway, each dedicated to their own tasks.
Jā€™onn will inform the medical team of what triggers may affect their patientā€™s long-term recovery and the quality of their stay. He is a thorough and patient coworker, and Bruce is grateful to have him on his side.
Bruce, in the meantime, has a favor to ask of Alfred and Dick on their way back into Gotham; more importantly, this is a favor he has to ask of Alfredā€™s employment-provided Costco card.
*
Thereā€™s something new in Dannyā€™s room.
He transfers himself into the wheelchair to look at it, scrambling down the bed the way the physical therapist taught him toā€”the new thing isn't at bed height, but it is pretty low, and it has a door that he could probably reach from seated height or standing.
The square thingā€™s door swings open.
Inside areā€¦little water bottles. Canned juices. Those mushy fruit-filled bars, and something so obviously wrapped in a yellow Fig Einstein wrapper that even the gibberish non-English is super clear.
Thereā€™s a bunch of things. Just. So many; and all in a few different types, too. The whole thing is filled with so many choices.
ā€¦Huh.
There are disposable straws in the door. Danny has to borrow a nurseā€™s ID card to open the can tab in the end, and his unwrapping of a straw is more than a little shaky, but Danny takes his medication with a mango-pineapple juice blend instead of his usual cup of water, and heā€™s perfectly fine with that.
