The shrill door bell rang again, disturbing James' peaceful crossword time once and for all. Enough was enough. Before Peter could answer the door like he had done before, James had gotten up and threw the door open, ready to yell and whatever unasuming Jehova's Witness was on the other side.

It was as if the air was punched out of his lungs once he finally recognised who was standing in front of him.

"You came. You actually showed up," James managed to wheeze out with the little air he had left.

The contrite man on the other side shifted his weight from one foot to the other, visibly lost. "Yes," he said coldly, "don't make me regret it. I'm already embarassed enough from trying to find this shithole of a place."
