AAAA i get to talk about dougie, ok here we go

so that's dougie poynter, he's 35 (36 on nov 30th) and is the bassist (HE DOES SING AS WELL THO - ANGELIC VOICE FR) for my absolute favourite band of the last 19 years - mcfly <3 he doesn't have a wife or kids but apparently he is in a relationship?? ur hotter than everyone

he's literally my absolute favourite person, he's a weirdo, he's chaotic af but he's my chaotic weirdo. he once got us to chant PENIS! at a gig 9 years ago :')

he also has a looooot of ink.

mcfly do have three other members - danny, harry + tom. the whole band are gorgeous and hella hella talented af. i've seen them 33 times but who's counting 😭

Christmas in the Fletcher household was a little bit crazy to say the least, with a family of musicians how could it not be.

You loved going for Christmas at Tom’s parents’ house, there was something so welcoming about being there with the rest of his family.

It was going to be your first Christmas there with your little one, who had arrived over the summer, and you knew most parents would want that first Christmas to themselves, but you and Tom wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by family for the day.

And so, Christmas morning, you and Tom bundled all the presents for your little one from Santa into the car and your little one of course, in their Christmas pyjamas, before heading off to the Fletcher house.

What you weren’t expecting when you got there though was to see Danny, Dougie and Harry all stood outside the front door in Santa hats.

Tom got out of the car and hugged them, but still looked at them all in confusion. “What’re you all doing here?”

As soon as you got out of the car Dougie made a beeline for your little one, making sure to kiss you on the cheek first and wish you a merry Christmas but then your little one was babbling with Uncle Dougie.

“It was your Mum’s idea really,” Harry explained as he helped Tom carry all the presents and bags into the house. “She thought for little one’s first Christmas we could have a big family Christmas, so here we are.”

Your heart practically melted at the idea of a big family Christmas, sure the Fletcher family Christmas was a great day but to add in Tom’s best friends too, what more could you want.

And so, the rest of the day went as Christmas normally did, presents were opened, and songs were sung, the Christmas dinner was amazing as usual.

You caught Tom in a lull of the festivities, he was in the kitchen looking out to the living room where his sister and her boyfriend were playing with your little one.

“Hey, you,” Tom greeted as you came up to hug his side, he pressed a kiss to the top of your head and then rested his head against yours.

You cuddled into him, smiling at the familiar feeling. “Have you had a good day?”

He chuckled. “The best day,” he stated as he saw Carrie tickling your little one. “I know little one won’t remember it, sure we’ll show them pictures, but they won’t really remember their first Christmas,” you could tell there was more to what he wanted to say so you stayed quiet, and just prepared to listen. “But I know that we can remember their first Christmas as a bloody amazing one.”

You smiled up at him, loving the look in his eyes, the look of love and wonder at your first child and his family being so in awe of little one too.

“As Christmases go, this one is my favourite,” Tom mused, leaning down to kiss you gently.

On growing up, love and getting ready to pop the question..

McFly might have been teenagers when they burst into the spotlight back in 2003, but make no mistake – they’re all man now! Each in their 20s with great bodies and designer stubble, the foursome – Dougie Poynter, Harry Judd, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones – have put their teeny-bopper image behind them.

“Oh yeah, we’re definitely feeling a little grown up,” laughs the band’s frontman Tom, 25. “I was looking over old pictures recently and it’s only now we realise how young we were when we started. It’s flown by.”

The most settled of the group, Tom says he’ll be ready to propose to girlfriend of seven years Giovanna Falcone before long. “I think I’ll have to!” he says. “I think she’ll leave me if I don’t. I’m 26 soon so I think we’re getting to the right age.”

But relax ladies, the other guys aren’t quite there yet. Drummer Harry and Danny, 25, have steady girlfriends but have no plans to wed for now.

“Not yet,” smiles Harry, 26, who lives with girlfriend Izzy Johnston, who plays the violin in Britain’s Got Talent string quartet Escala. “She’s beautiful and talented, and I definitely want to get married one day.”

And while guitarist Danny also lives with his girlfriend, former Miss England Georgia Horsley, he says it’ll be a while yet.

“When we first met she thought I was a d******* popstar, which I suppose I am!” he laughs. “And I had been out with a Miss England before so I thought it might be a bit random to go out with two – it wasn’t planned, obviously!

“It’s all good now though and it’s serious. But I don’t think I’m quite at the putting-a-ring-on-her finger stage. Maybe in a couple of years.”

Now that he’s so settled, does charmer Danny miss making the most of all the female attention?

“Well, I have no regrets, put it like that!” he laughs.

“It was totally awesome. I made the most of it, but why wouldn’t I?

“Girls still ask me out and I’m like ‘No, I’ve got a girlfriend’.

“I’ve done my bit for the boys and it was great while it lasted, but I’m well and truly over that now.”

On heartache, footballers and moving on..

While the other lads are loved-up and settled, ­­23-year-old Dougie is still struggling to get over a broken heart. His ex-girlfriend and star of The Saturdays, Frankie Sandford, 22, ended their relationship in November for the second time in less than a year, and the split is still taking its toll on bassist Dougie.

“It’s c**p, but what makes it worse is getting constant reminders,” he says. “When it’s a regular person it’s bad enough because you hear their name once in a while, or your mutual friends see them. But I see her bloody everywhere! In magazines, on the TV, on the radio. It’s horrible! It’s worse when you’re a bit hungover though, which I am today, that really sucks. You just feel a bit tired and extra miserable, don’t you?”

Seeing her pictured on the arm of Manchester City star Wayne Bridge can’t have helped. “Oh yes, seeing her arm in arm with a footballer is amazing!” laughs Dougie. “I just love that, it’s ace. I don’t know if she’ll regret all this, we’re not in touch anymore so who knows? What she does is up to her. But one thing I do know is that we’ll never, ever get back together.”

Don’t get too excited though girls, Dougie’s not quite ready to run into the arms of another woman. “Not at the moment,” he laughs. “I’m taking a few months out! I think I need a dog to make me feel better.

“I’ll get my dog, and I’ll be OK.”

On good mates, bust ups, and why Harry’s at the centre of every argument..

As Dougie leans on his three best mates to help him through his heartache, even moving in with Tom and his girlfriend temporarily, the lads are open about the fact they’re more like brothers than friends.

“I’m the least sociable person ever,” laughs Tom. “I’m just a bit awkward, but people think I’m rude. Obviously I’ve got three best mates in the guys, but they’re it for me really.”

What happens when they fall out? “Well Harry seems to start them all.” laughs Danny. “I think we’ve all punched him. I hit him after he put a cigarette out in my beer. I just swung for him and called him an idiot. He smacked me back, but we were fine an hour later.”

“Yeah I punched Harry too.” says Dougie. “I was trying to stop smoking so I was quite agitated. Then he kept winding me up and trying to get me to smoke. I only clipped him really – it could have been harder!”

Surely Harry won’t take this lying down? “Oh really? Did Dougie happen to mention that he cried after he punched me? Because he did. He rang me and cried because he felt so bad. It was a pathetic punch anyway, he’s not that hard. OK, maybe I do wind them up, especially Dougie. But he’s so easy to annoy!”

On pizzas, diets and the pressure to look good..

Men in the music industry tend to get an easier time of it than women when it comes to the pressure to look good. But when, like McFly, they’ve got thousands of screaming girls begging them to take their tops off at every gig they play, a certain amount is inevitable.

Lead singer Tom felt it so much he virtually starved himself for a year to slim down to a size he felt happy at. “At my heaviest I was about 13st 7lbs,” he says.

“When we moved into the band house at the beginning of it all I literally ate crap for two years. Pizzas every night, and not normal pizza – massive, disgusting, cheesy pizzas. I’m not exaggerating. Pizza at night and a fry up every morning with a can of Coke. No wonder I was a bit fat!”

So in a typical young man’s approach, when he thought things had gone too far, Tom simply stopped eating. “That was my amazing diet plan,” he laughs.

“I just didn’t eat anything. I’d have coffee for breakfast then maybe a muffin in the afternoon. That was it. It was a dramatic, rubbish man’s diet! Luckily once I’d lost about three stone I realised it was stupid and started eating again.”

Tom says the pressure to lose weight came from himself. “I hated seeing myself on TV,” he recalls.“I was in the band with these skinny b*****s who could eat whatever they wanted and not put on any weight. I was the fat one, and I just didn’t want to be the fat one anymore. That’s it.”

On their maddest fans..

One of the best bits about being in a boyband must be the adoring fans, right? “There are some mad ones,” says Harry. “But we prefer the word passionate.” So who’s been the most ‘passionate’ then? Danny says: “Some come up and ask you to sign their arm and come back the next time to show you they tattooed your autograph on to their skin! It’s bizarre – and I have a rubbish autograph.” But surprisingly, they haven’t been the worst.

“The weirdest one was this guy who gave me a massive hug when we got off the bus one time,” laughs Danny. “He totally grabbed my sides and squeezed really tight. I thought OK, bit weird, but fine. Then as we headed off, waving goodbye to everyone, we noticed as he stood waving with a big grin on his face he had the biggest erection ever sticking out of his tracky bottoms. We just screamed ‘Nooooooo!!’ It was so awful.”

On disappearing, growing gills and being Cheryl Cole’s chair..

So to go with the theme of our superhero-inspired shoot, what superpower would the guys like to have? “Oh that’s interesting,” laughs Danny. “I would be able to change into anything. Like Ashley Cole. Oh no, he’s not with Cheryl anymore is he? OK, I’d be able to change into whoever is going out with Cheryl Cole at any point in time. No, I’d be Cheryl Cole’s chair on X Factor! Or maybe her hairbrush?”

Has anyone got anything less pervy? “The ability to see everyone naked,” grins Dougie. Maybe not. “Oh God, then you’d see loads of ugly people naked! No I want to change my mind. I’d like gills please. I’m not a massive swimming fan, but I’d probably like it better if I had gills.” Random, but OK. Can Harry do any better? “I’d be invisible, so I could spy on people,” he says. “I’d walk into the Arsenal dressing room or the England rugby team changing room to hear what they talk about before a game. That would be wicked.”

Tom is bound to have a sensible answer. “I’d be able to travel through time,” he says.

“I’d go see the dinosaurs and maybe visit important moments in history. I wouldn’t change anything in our career though, just in case it messed everything up. Because even the stuff that went wrong has meant we’ve ended up here, in a very good place.” That’s more like it Tom!

The “EAT THE NACHO!” moment - McFly: All About Us [x]

Harry: We were on tour with McBusted in Europe and I managed to arrange a dinner for the four of us because we needed the McFly chat

Tom: And this is the defining moment that I feel, like, in the stuff that followed, that kind of unraveling about friendships

Harry: We started talking about McFly, how we’re gonna approach the writing, where should we record... and me and Danny and Tom were getting really excited

Tom: But Dougie just stayed quiet through the whole thing

Harry: I was just feeling like.. oh my god, this is horrible. We’re losing him and there’s nothing I can do

Tom: It’s a Mexican restaurant and we ordered this nachos to share. I feel like it’s the most symbolic thing. We got to the point there was 4 nachos left in the middle of the table. Harry picked one and ate it.

Harry: Then Tom took his one and Danny had his.

Tom: And there’s one nacho left. Dougie didn’t eat the nacho. I remember sitting there and in my head goes, “Eat the nacho!”

Harry: 'Doug, please, just eat the nacho. Just.. (whispers) just eat the nacho.'

Tom: The band is the nachos! And if he doesn’t eat that nacho, he doesn’t want to be in the band anymore

Harry: I finally broke I just, “Doug.. do you wanna.. nacho?” He was like, “Nah, man, I’m fine.” .... He’s gone!

i would go in tour with them or with any band who asked me to really, besides they are fun as hell.

"then on the other side of it, i have friends i've never met in person. so this event is a good thing for that purpose. seeing new and old friends." he said with a smile. him rolling around in the sand like a sports illustrated model would certainly get some laughs. he also caved to peer pressure whenever he was with danny, dougie, and harry so this trip wouldn't be much different now that tom thought about it. "oh i'll do it! at some point i'll do it." if he hadn't made time for her, tom would've been sad by it. they didn't get to see each other often with them living in different countries. as the saying went they were a plane ride away from each other but it was a long one. tom laughed, "i'd settle for finding someone to be with. not sure on the whole pregnancy thing.. haven't i tortured people enough with half of my dna? but with all that said you just have to see what happens in life. it's unpredictable and i tend to enjoy my time here no matter what happens." the dark haired male chewed on his bottom lip for a minute as he reached down into his shorts getting out the joint and lighter he had stashed there. sjsksksk honestly I'm super indecisive, so I think I'd probably get a flower or something on my wrist ala Emma Swan. I can say that if I got a tattoo at 14 it would have been something shadowhunter related though 😭

I mean, I feel like everyone knows I'm obsessed with them but that shit started when I was 13? I think? It was around the time they were celebrating a decade together as a band so I bought the autobiography they wrote together, and Dougie had been on I'm a celeb and Harry on Strictly.

I just love them so much sksksksk like, I rewatched their documentary and it's so funny how Danny showed up in London for a boyband audition, but when his sister had printed the ad for him, it had cut off the bit where it said no guitarists, and then they played some music and wanted to see how they danced and Tom-who was being paid to record the auditions was asked to help Danny learn a bit of Backstreet Boys and they hit it off and decided to write songs together

And! the fact that Dougie showed up when they were looking for a bass player, was asked to play pop, and only knew a bit of the bassline to Billie Jean and just played it over ...and over...and over and they weren't gonna call him back but then got desperate and sent him a demo and asked him to learn it for callbacks and then he got in, it's just...i love it. Especially how MUCH the guys genuinely love each other. Dougie was FIFTEEN when they formed the band and everyone else was 17 or 18, so the boys actually taught Doug how to shave and other stuff lmao

Plus, I've been listening to their earlier stuff again and I just think it's great how obvious it is that the guys writing the songs were teenagers + listening to stuff knowing how things worked out-Tom wrote Obviously when he and Giovanna had broken up and she was with another guy, and it was about how he couldn't stop thinking about her, and that she was totally out of his league-and now they've been MARRIED for 8 years and have 3 boys together. How he wrote All about you, as a gift for her for valentines day because he'd forgotten the actual day 😭

And how Harry met HIS wife when she was one of the violinists in the string section of one of their tours (and he might have hooked up with Lindsay Lohan when they were in Just my Luck-it's what the song Please, Please is about lmao)

Mcfly have such an AMAZING range of stuff-Danny wrote Don't know why after his dad walked out on the family, and him and Doug wrote The Ballad of Paul K about the shared experience and stuff like Silence is a scary sound that Dougie wrote when he was THIRTEEN before Mcfly even existed and now it's one of their best songs.

Transylvania is my absolute fave too-AND Dougie's bass solo in the live performance of lies is one of the best things i've ever heard and then there's She falls asleep part 2 and the sequel song Down goes Another one two albums later from the perspective of the guy in the first song and the aftermath. And then when I'm feeling super emo I'll listen to POV and Too close for Comfort and Bubble wrap

Anyway I'll shut up now lol though I could talk about them forever-I know WAY too much about these guys. Now i'm gonna go watch the Love is on the Radio music video

@jtgd-dylm sent me "Fludd" (Tom Fletcher/Harry Judd)

When I started shipping it if I did:

A few years ago when @jtgd-dylm herself started to gush about them, I had never really thought about them before but she helped me realise how perfect they are for each other. They are the Mom and Dad of McFly.

My thoughts:

They're such a good match, Harry is the one more likely to goof off when Tom gets serious (much to Tom's annoyance) but it will take Tom's mind away from work and give him something else to focus on, even if it's annoying him.

Harry can also get too into his head and he has had his own mental health struggles, Tom is someone who is able to be there for him, to get him out of his head and get him to be able to talk to him. Not that the other guys can't, I just feel like Tom is the one who could most easily reach him.

These two compliment each other, it's not picture perfect or always pretty but it's raw, beautiful and they constantly make each other into better versions of themselves.

What makes me happy about them:

The way they fight over Dougie on Instagram 😂 Their little comments to each other that walk the line of insult and compliment. Any time Harry catches Tom playing his drums and drags him away. The way Tom looks at Harry when Harry's made him laugh. Any time their eyes meet in an interview and they do that little laugh thing. The way Harry is always impressed and amazed by Tom's talents.

What makes me sad about them:

That they seemed to be the ones to argue the most in the beginning. That Harry used to tease Tom about his weight and then probably felt like Tom's ED was his fault. The way they both seem to blame themselves when when something bad happens.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me:

Nothing? This is a rare pair so I feel blessed to read any fic that has Fludd 😅

Their wives? 😂 Gi and Izzy are honestly so great and I love them both so much, they've got amazing wives.

They are living it. They're happy and back to performing again, they've got each other and Danny and Dougie. What more could they ever need?

Who is the big spoon/little spoon:

It switches. Harry is usually the big spoon because Tom needs someone to hold him and tell him he's doing all right and he normally won't ever let anyone know when it's getting too much, but sometimes Harry starts to break a little and needs Tom to hold him and keep him together.

What is their favorite non-sexual activity:

(I was going to say performing but that's not exactly non-sexual, is it?)

Anything competitive that they can beat the other at. Even tic-tac-toe gets them riled and leaves one of them smug.

You knew that being on tour was hard for Tom – he was such a family orientated guy so not being in his home town made everything pretty crappy for him.

The two of you had been in a relationship since you were both in school; you had been there since the start and you could even explain how proud you were of Tom.

Being able to see your boyfriend living out his dream was an indescribable feeling.

McFly were playing their last show of the tour up in Edinburgh in Scotland, which as of the most impressive cities in Britain.

As a surprise for Tom, you, Carrie and Peter had headed up to Edinburgh that morning to be able to go to the show and see him, as you knew that Tom had been missing home so much.

Of course, you had spoken to Tom at least once every single day, so it wasn’t as if you hadn’t had any contact whatsoever.

The only person that knew about you, Carrie and Peter coming was Harry, because you needed someone to arrange getting into the venue without too much hassle and such.

Arriving at the venue, Carrie turned to you, “You excited?” she quizzed with a massive smile on her face.

You couldn’t help but smile yourself “Most definitely” you stated in response to her.

The three of you walked backstage ever so slightly, but not far enough that Tom might see you.

Harry soon came out, and quickly pulled you into a hug “God it’s so great to see such a familiar face” he greeted you, making sure to keep you in a hug for as long as possible.

Once Harry released you and greeted the other two, he explained the plan of how the night was going to go.

The way it was going to work was you, Carrie and Pete would be in the third or so row back from the stage; halfway through their set, Harry was going to tell Tom that there was a surprise for him and that would be when you went up on stage.

Son enough the show began, and you found yourself enjoying the show just as much as you always had done.

Every single time you saw them perform, you were reminded of how talented your boyfriend was.

Before you knew it, the concert was halfway through and Harry had come out from behind his drums with a mic in his hand.

Tom, Dougie and Danny all looked confused at what their fellow bandmate was doing but Harry just had a smirk on his face.

“Now Tom” Harry spoke into his mic, gaining the curiosity of your boyfriend, “We have a surprise for you” Harry stated, signalling for the lights to land on you.

Carrie squeezed your arm in excitement before you walked out from your seat, making your way over to the stage.

By the time, you reached the stage, Harry was standing there and holding his hand out to you, which you took, to help you up onto the stage.

Tom had taken his guitar off and was standing in, what seemed to be, shock.

“I present your surprise Mr Fletcher” Harry told Tom through his mic, and Tom ran over to you, enveloping you in a hug.

“I love you so much” Tom whispered in your ear as he continued to hold you tightly.

You smiled against Tom’s chest before pulling away slightly to look up at him, “Did you like the surprise?” you asked.

Tom nodded with a smile on his face “Isn’t it obvious that I did” he told you.

He glanced back at his bandmates momentarily, before getting down on one knee as Danny ran over to hand him a mic.

“So, Y/N” Tom cautiously started to speak “We’ve been together for a long time now, and I wasn’t anticipating on doing this tonight but I might as well give it a shot” he explained, slightly rambling on, “I would like to know if you, Miss Y/N Y/L/N, would do me the honour of marrying me?” he questioned, leaving the whole of the crowd waiting in anticipation just as much as Tom.

You nodded in response to Tom “Of course I would” you answered him making him smile greatly as he stood up to hug you once again.

“I don’t have the ring with me or anything” he admitted after the two of you pulled away from the hug.

You reached up and pressed a kiss to his lips “That’s okay, I’m just happy you asked” you spoke in a soft tone.

Tom nodded, and then looked to his bandmates who were all smiling along with the crowd who were clapping and cheering.

“Maybe I should go back to my seat” you suggested to Tom “Carrie and Pete are down there” you quickly told him.

Tom kissed you quickly “Go on then Love – I’ll see you after the show”

McFly’s Dougie Poynter reveals he took lethal doses of Valium as he struggled to cope after band’s break-up

The bassist, 32, had suggested they take an indefinite rest in 2016 — but within two years he was struggling to cope without his best pals.

Dougie had attempted suicide in 2011 over drink and drugs problems and said the relapse was the closest he came to “losing myself”.

In ITV show McFly: All About Us, he reveals how joint therapy reunited bandmates Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Danny Jones.

Dougie, who won 2011’s I’m A Celebrity, said of the split: “On the one hand I felt inspired because friends in LA would take me to see other bands and stuff.

“On the other hand, I was like, ‘But my band’s broken and it’s all my fault’. Valium was a way of just making all that disappear.”

Guitarist Danny, 34, added: “He went from being quite sketchy to being super chill, like almost dribbling and I was like, ‘There’s something wrong man’.”

Drummer Harry, also 34, said: “I said to him, ‘Don’t freak out mate, but I know you’re taking something. Is everything OK?’ And he sort of told me what he’d been taking. He was like, at that lethal dosage.”

Dougie checked into rehab and closest pal Tom, 35, said: “Doug’s parents had split and he moved in with the band at 15. We’re all he had to cling on to when there were tough things going on in his life.”

Tom was asked to write a letter to him which left both facing stark realisations.

Tom added: “Danny and I could shout at each other and get emotions off our chest, but me and Doug never did that.”

Dougie asked Tom to come to counselling to repair the friendship, with the other lads joining later.

Harry added: “We realised Dougie did nothing wrong. And that’s the biggest lesson from all this.”

And he now realises his life is complete being back with the band. He added: “It’s all I really know and all I really want to know.”
