Heya! I was wondering if i could suggest a semi-specific request 😅😂
Could I request a scene where I reunite with Ray in VAE? I was thinking I could've been with him in Mint Eye and had a relationship with him - even though it is V's ending.
What happened to Magenta with the bomb shattered me, and that uncertainty about Ray was just 😖😖😖
I would miss him so, so much
Would he miss me as much too? He's everything to me 😅
After all the time V spends with him in his AE, would Ray still remember me? Would he be shocked that I remembered him? And still love him so much?
Aaah 🤧🤧
Skittish.
Tentative.
Frightened.
Those are the words Jihyun used to describe him at his worst. Even after years of trying to pull himself back together, there was nothing that could change the fact that he was forever scarred by what he'd done that day in Magenta. On the of losing everything, he thought it would be better to get rid of himself than it would be to join the rest of the believers in paradise.
What was life worth if everyone left him all over again?
That was how he felt for the longest time... his only regret being that he called you before the bomb went off. He didn't want to scare you with the truth of his actions, but that selfish part inside of his chest wanted you to know he loved you with everything his heart had and he would never love another soul like he loved you.
He thought you'd move on with your life, become happy as can be, and have everything he ever dreamed of.
In some ways... his love for you would carry on in your happiness. It was the only thing that brought him peace in those final moments, and yet, even so, he always yearned for more than that.
Maybe that was the most human thing about him. He always obeyed the rules given to him because they were an oath made in blood... like a tool or a puppet, but his love for you gave him a bleeding heart that made him feel alive. It was his love for you that kept him alive as long as it had. That's what he wanted to believe.
You were an angel unlike any other he'd ever met.
And maybe, just maybe, by the grace of your love... or just dumb luck, he survived that explosion. He suffered torment for weeks as the scars rattled his bones and fried his skin, but one thought never left his head. You. You were the singular thought that he both yearned for and dreamed would never come close to him again.
He hurt you in every sense of the word, and he couldn't bring himself to let go. It would've been better if he let you go. You could have a life with the RFA! You could enjoy everything the world had to offer and it would make him happy. As long as you had a life... a life you dreamed of... he knew nothing could ever dampen his dream. You were his true dream... his only dream, but he knew that he may never have you the way he wanted.
You would never look at him the way he looked at you... he would be a fool to think otherwise.
The light in your eyes saved him.
That was why he agreed to come with Jihyun to the party. He didn't want to go in the beginning. He only wanted to stay in the shadows... to erase himself until it was time to find his brother, but the thought of seeing your face one last time made him yearn to come along for... for what would probably be the last time he'd allow himself to see you in person.
He planned to stay in the crowd, hidden by the number of guests and patrons, and then he would retreat to the hotel to spare himself a lot of painful circumstance. Seeing you at the party, smiling, was meant to be enough for him.
If you were dancing with someone or thriving in a way that would've challenged his memory, it would've stung deep and made it hard to breathe, but... the risk was worth it. Even if you were in love with the world outside of him... and you found a reason to smile... he would be okay with that. He would have to be.
He just... needed to see your face one final time.
It had to be worth it.
You found him despite his desire to hide when Jihyun extended his hand to welcome the newest member to the RFA. He looked over at Jihyun, nerves eating away at his very soul, but a smile remained on Jihyun's face, as if beckoning him to task a risk. He stood there, like a deer in the headlights, unable to move or say a word as you stared at him.
Everything felt like it was moving in slow-motion.
His body was stuck.
Then, all at once, when he felt like he needed to run away, you leapt in his direction before his brother could—throwing your arms around him with a sob on your lips that sounded like—misery and hope all at once. He stood there, eyes wide and jaw-slacked, unable to say even a single word as Saeyoung embraced the two of you as well.
"Ray," you wept. You sounded like it hurt to lose him in the first place. He never thought you would miss him. "You're alive! I was afraid that I lost you forever! I can't believe you're here! You're here and breathing. Tell me it's not a dream...!"
"You're okay," sobbed his twin brother, his voice filled with just as much relief and pain that it felt otherworldly to someone like Ray. Years of his life were spent thinking he was nothing more than the nuisance he was taught to be, and now... just like Jihyun said many times in the past... his loved ones were telling what he thought was a pipe dream. "My baby brother, you're okay!"
Ray couldn't believe it.
Saeyoung missed him... truly.
You'd missed him... deeply.
Jihyun hadn't lied to him.
"I'm sorry," he croaked. The tears flooding his vision as he broke down for the first time in a very long time. "I'm sorry!"

There was so much in these first WoT episodes that my head couldn’t deal with it until I had written down at least my basic thoughts about them. So here is what my brain made me scream into the keyboard before being able to watch on (ep1&2) - for obvious reasons it’s 75% Moiraine, but I mean have you looked at her??
Where is the dark friend social? Because they have the aes Sedai symbol in stone on the ground outside.
Love the phrasing „The one who walks the world, the one who was and will be, but is not yet the dragon“. Because Rand is but is not yet the dragon!
Obviously the „we are in the middle of a meeting, a quite important one, really“ is great and hilarious. Also I said it before and I will say it again I love Ishamaeals nihilism and I think it wasn’t used as good as it could have been in the books, the ending about what good and evil and grey even means couldn’t have played more with him, I hope the show goes there. And his speech is great. But I really thought he would feed that girl to the trollocs for a second.
Also he says „monster“ not trollocs, which strikes me as AoL -speech? Children in the 3rd age know what trollocs are, in his childhood, they wouldn’t have known, they didnt have „monsters“ outside of stories…
Also i noticed for the first time „father of lies“ is an interesting name for the forsaken, who in his own mind is simply saying the truth, „Life is an endless, pointless repetition“. He doesn’t really lie, does he? Here at least he does not towards the girl, while many people probably would have.
Obviously the first Moiraine scene is devastating, what else can be said? I mean except for the fact that she es so beautiful still, that i may have stopped breathing. Her movements are so precise. She has a task and she does it and no matter what’s going on inside here, she is determined to fulfill the selfmade task without delay.
Also her outfit- the hair-thingies that are of the Lady Moiraine Damodred and look expensive and the physical work clothes she wears, show so nicely the different aspects of her character.
Light, how many buckets this bath must need. And why does she need this big bath? She does, because she is her and she would never take a smaller one, just to have less work but, Light, Moiraine!
Also what is that necklace that she doesn’t take off during the bath?
It is good to see her focused on herself and not in daes daem‘er mode.
I can‘t with the way she looks at her hands. Those slow movements as she stretches them, holds them. It is more than devastating. You can feel her loss through these movements. So precise still, and such controlled movements! The looking at her hands, because feeling them is not enough, doesn’t work, because they do not feel right, are not working as they should, but they are, they are doing her bodies movement so precisely. And yet not enough. And her eyes. The way she looks at them. So present and absent at the same time. Such horror and resignation at the same time. And then the hand sinks in the water and — and her eyes again, drawing upwards in that last sequence, its so devastating.
Ahhhhh she is so pretty! Love Moiraine surrounded by books! Ahhh her voice! I mean, her voice in general, but how she sharpens it and how it is her voice and the same but its different from how it was before. Especially towards Lan. And she doesn’t look at him.
„Everyone has a choice. And every choice as a consequence.“!!! That is such in important sentence for life in general. I want to print it on a tshirt (and give it to my sister). Also Moiraine is so pretty. Also „Door.“ The hurt. Uh, she is hurting so bad and hurting him so bad because she doesn’t know what else to do.
Egewene in the Amyrlin‘s study 👀. Interesting. But where is siuan? Love the White tower optics.
Omg Alanna. she is even more than she is in fanfics and that says something.
It’s so great that they adapted the „novices watching the wardens train“ from New Spring. Just because of the sillyness and New spring-ness. And also shows that Egwene is not that much in with the other novices.
Obviously the Nyn/Egwene convo is great, Dont smile, I have enough character, etc. It’s Them!! And they introduce more aes Sedai lore. „Even the amyrlin“ haha, they dont know Siuan Sanche at all do they?
Love serious Alanna. Good to see she’s more than sex and snacks again. Why isn’t Egwene using her hands? As a challenge to herself? because of her her cultural exchange later? Did she hurt them?
Who is that bald grey sister? She is intriguing me.
„Who’s ever been hurt by a little talk (BY AN AES SEDAI!!!)? Hmmmmm.
OMG How is Moiraine this pretty? Poem in blood! In old tongue! Omg Moiraine‘s hands. Her nod ahhhh. Her smugness, ahhh I love her.
THE WHEEL WEAVES AS THE WHEEL WILLS!!!!! + LIGHT BE WITH YOU
I really like show Nyneave more than book Nyneave! She is as headstrong but at the same time more reflective and less caricature.
I do get the disappointment that its not Siuan who throws Nyn at the wall but I think its so interesting that it‘s Liandrin! Does she do it with the same intention? This Liandrin is so much more than a dark sister! She might be evil and she is unlikable but she cares. I think? Because we dont really know if it‘s an act so we? But it feels as if she really cares about other aes Sedai, including Nyneave as she is a woman who can channel. And that fits but is also messy and interesting. And the thing about wanting Nyneave to reach that power, that no one, not even her can take from her is great. And the thing about not everyone accessing Saidar the same way, that anger can be a way and that the teachings of the White Tower are not always the only way.
The talk Perrin has with Ingtar is great too, because it gives actual substance to the whole violence thing. Anger is scary! Anger can make you use violence, that makes so much more sense than the „i am a big guy“ thing from the books. Also good that they mentioned Laila again. And it takes away the whol Nyneave = anger personified away. Other characters obviously deal with this too! I really like this non-caricature version of her better.
Moiraine!!! + Lan!! Also the little eyebrow movement she does when he walks out. saying „its fine. It’s not fine but i deserve this. I am too stubborn to cry. I am distancing myself from him and from myself and i will not even think about it. I will work now.“ Her little eyebrow movement that says „I hurt but i wont show it“.
I love that it‘s Bel Tine again. I love their lanterns and lights and it all. Also interesting that Egwene remembered and Nyn didn‘t. Because as much as Nyneave is about community and protecting her wards, so is Egwene, Egwene is about glueing together old traditions and new ways of life, here as she is building a Two River lantern in the White Tower, and later when she is wielding a trident.
Question: is that Aldieb? Also Dagger Moiraine!! Is she for real fighting two *fades* alone with nothing but a knife? And getting him by staying calm and observant.
When she says „Lan.“ And you can har that she has not said it in months. It is her voice, the voice that has interviewed Boyle Damon and the other 19 people but this is *her* voice saying „Lan.“ Adressing *him*. Getting his attention. And this voice is hoarse (ok maybe also because she cant really use her breathing muscles with her sliced abdomen, but) because she hasn’t talked to him in months, not really, not to *him*, and now she is saying his name.
This is the most brutal thing ever. It’s simply brutal. Her face. The power, she feels it and then it isn’t hers and i mean good that they live but this is the most brutal thing ever. What aren’t you telling me? Everything. That it’s impossible but it mustn’t be impossible. This is brutal.
2)
Rand having acoustic hallucinations while working in the mental health asylum has very strong me-during-my-psychiatry-rotation-vibes (the difference being he went and got a job there and me deciding not to stay, no, nope lets stay with my lovely lymphomas)
But it fits his character very well! He is good at that!! And I also love how we are getting introduced to the sword forms this way! It’s a good way do put them in words.
That asshole reminded me of the girl internet anxiety disorder lecture mocking how you could be afraid of these things, with people with this disorder sitting there and having to listen. People suck.
I miss the intro!
Ok Moiraine in this outfit is killing me. How am i supposed to follow any dialogue when she is sitting there looking like that? But Light! Not only Lan (her responsibility! But she couldn’t! She couldn’t protect him, heal him, she could do nothing!) but also herself must have been healed with the One Power, and yes she has had that done before and wouldn’t have been able to heal herself either way, the situation is so different. That must have been such an awful situation. Feeling the power, knowing it touches you, but you cant touch it. Not only having someone use it in your presence but *on* you. Oh Moiraine. Oh Moiraine.
She has been exiled from the White Tower!!!!!!! And Verin knows!! I cant continue watching this show. The difference between her „I“ now and her „we“ in season 1 and Lan’s continued „we“! And how she doesn’t manage to block the tenderness out of her voice, when she says „you are still weak from the healing“, and then noticed her slip up and voice slightly changed but not too much for it to be obvious adds that little quip to drive him away. Oh Moiraine.
I don‘t really like what they are doing with Perrin‘s senses, why is it visions suddenly? Not only to portray on screen but also him thinking it is happening now, and Elayas calling it visions? I like him and Hurin merged though, it makes sense.
Liandrin bringing Nyneave to the Yellows!! She gets her, and she knows what it takes and she really wants Nyn to break the block! And Nyn‘s awe!!! She found the thing Ivon and Maskim asked about last episode! It’s great to see this this early on, and not just later as in the books where her blind rage over Moiraine takes up most her motivation so long. But, Liandrin saying healing is a response to symptoms and disease… hmm. I mean sure it can be, and honestly its super important because easing symptoms is important?! But you can also treat causally as they did right there, that was not a symptomatic treatment on the girl. Plus prevention is a thing. Sorry Liandrin, I do see why the yellows wouldn’t have wanted you. The way she says „I am allowed to teach Accepted“ hahaha Liandrin trying so hard being cool.
Some of the greatest pairings in the history of the world were formed between novices in adjacent rooms!!! Yay for the pillowfriends?!?!! Who is Elana Katab though, do we know her?? But really this is so cute, her wanting to be close to Egwene immediately and proposing it like this and talking about a shared future (seconds after meeting *cough* seconds after introducing herself as daughter heir *cough cough*)
Ouhhhh the foreshadowing in the convo between Alanna and Sheriam!! Ouhhhlaa this show is too much for me.
Omg Verin talking about oath loopholes!?!?!?!?!
P.S. Why is Moiraine so pretty?
The pond!!!! The pond story and they tell them!! And they are smiling.
So much foreshadowing!! Mat!!
She didn‘t! Did she really say „When i am with you, I can pretend i am with him,“?? Ouhh she‘s bad. „Pretend I am whole again,“ you mean pretend you never bored that freaking hole in the dimension or what?! Also yeppp she is hot. Shit.
„I knew when the time came, you‘d be able to survive on your own.“ Thats what she wasn’t telling you, Lan. For 20 years and she never planned to survive this with you. She knew you‘d survive on your own. (But doesn’t this contradict the Myrelle plot?)
*Her loyalty is with the dragon reborn.* Thats Moiraine. Always and *always* will the dragon, will the world, will fate itself come before anything.
And then she says his name „al‘Lan Mandargoran“ and rides away. Oh my heart. Oh Light.
Fuck, the suldam and Damane are creepy. I mean, they should be and they are creepy-creepy-creepy in the books too, so… but unexpectedly seeing them on screen? Yeah mission accomplished they are creepy.
Also creepy: Rand’s little smile at the end. I guess things are going to happen.
#this is very spamy#but I had to get it out of the system and now thought why not put it here#now I might be able to watch episode 4#(well saturday because sleep and work and did I mention that I never have time and life sucks a little at the moment?)#seriously I am in no condition to watch WoT#these episodes overwhelmed me so much that I had to take breaks every 20 min#and didnt manage more than one per day even though I had a free weekend#anyway I love moiraine and her reaction seemed very logical and on point. it was good and I get it#wheel of time#moiraine damodred#egwene al'vere#wot s2 spoilers#I don't think this is#wot book spoilers#but anyway. and good night

"What about GC who was taken by an intruder?"
" I should give her a hug, it must've been so hard."
Writer-nim gave us the best ever love confession ever, it's not even because JH said, because Eun-ae could have said this and it's impact would have been just as devastating and beautiful. Beautiful kind GilChae, finally getting a hug. I love her. ♥️♥️♥️
Dear Anon,
What a beautifully-constructed conversation and confession. She tries to explain why she divorced Capt Gu, can’t get the words out (I fully believe she believes the reason she gave Capt Gu and that it is a truth, if not THE reason she divorced him) and then he says the most unadorned words - I love you whether you’re rich or poor or however you are, and I love you when you didn’t love me and I love you when you do (in effect, I choose to see your actions for the love they represent even if your words push me away). I loved Namgoong Min’s facial expressions here, e.g. the grief when he says “cheeky”, because that’s a quality she has lost over the traumatic months (years?).
And then there’s Gil-chae, the best and bravest, bravest most of all for unburdening herself ever so briefly of the secret she’s been holding onto. I think it’s so sad she couldn’t bring herself to tell anyone, even Eun-ae, but I can see why. She’s been their protector, the person holding it all together for them, and I think she understands that Eun-ae and her family may not be able to bear it. I think that in that moment, when he not only expressed his love, but acknowledged and grieved the past versions of her and depth of his understanding for everyone she has had to be, she trusted and believed he could carry it. It was enormously courageous of her, but he rose to the moment and met it.
For me personally this scene is a success because there is nothing new in it except for Gil-chae’s secret. All of the information was established by previous episodes. We know she’s changed, she’s not her same self anymore (and she’s been through war and retained her core personality, so we know something is badly wrong) and we’ve seen her flinch at the slave market when he touched her skirt. We’re aware that he doesn’t share the common Joseon notions of purity and does not believe it’s a woman’s fault when she gets assaulted (something she doesn’t know, which makes her confession even braver than it otherwise would have been). The conversation brought together so many disparate threads very elegantly.
I think from the fusion sageuk perspective, what’s wonderful about it is the fantasy fulfilment. We’re maybe six hundred years past this point in history and yet so many people still have poor experiences when they try to tell partners, friends and family about assault and abuse. This all-encompassing empathy, the physical gesture of an embrace and the promise to hold her that night (the precise opposite, btw, of the promises he made the night before they almost ran away together) - these are all things we in the 21c wish we could hear, and yet many women I know will not tell the men in their lives about the things they’ve endured. Maybe because they’re protecting themselves, maybe because they once rang bells that could not be unrung, and have learnt that burying the trauma is preferable to the alternative. I think writernim succeeded splendidly in that “embrace” that you described a few asks ago.
Thanks for stopping by, dear Anon, and letting me witter on!
#mbc my dearest#namgoong min anon#of all the gin joints in the world#there’s no more romantic confession#than someone who loves everyone you’ve ever had to be#jung geum ja knows!

heya! I wanted to ask your opinion on something I've been thinking about for the longest time now.
whose route do you think and after ending do you think has the (most?) overall happy ending for all the members in the RFA, because I was thinking as much as Saeyoung is my favourite route and character to end up with, V still literally dies at the end of the route leaving us with a very burdened and broken Jumin, we don't really get to see everything going on with him, but Jumin is grieving and broken over his best friends death.
Rays route is nice and all for the twins but once again Jumin is betrayed by his best friend and V leads a sad and confusing path with Rika in Rays AE. He's obviously going through alot and by the end of the AE, V once again doesn't have a happy ending.
Oh and also in every route that isn't Jaehee's she's still overworked and presumably unhappy with her job
there's a bunch of other stuff that happens in other routes, but in each and every single one of them there's at least one or two members of the RFA that still have to carry their burdens and hardships even after the happy ending of the MC and someone else
So who do you think's route has the happiest overall ending for the RFA as a whole?
What a good question! I think about this a lot too. I'm gonna talk about spoilers for literally every part of the game here, so scroll away if you don't wanna see that!
The truth is that there isn't any one route that's happy for everyone; the game's just not designed for that to be possible. It's written so that every character needs you—so that you (and in some cases, only you) have the power to save them. That's a pretty common theme in otome games—and it means that these games rarely have a route where every character gets a happy ending.
Of the original five routes, Saeran is only rescued from Mint Eye in one of them—and even in Saeyoung's route, where we get to save Saeran, nothing else turns out well. Saeran isn't able to save himself—he's stripped of all his agency—and so he suffers immensely. And it can't be overstated that V dies in this route—making it, in many ways, the saddest "good" end of all.
Besides: even with Saeran safe, the route ends with Saejoong still out there. The twins aren't actually free.
As for V: he only gets a truly happy ending in his own route. And in spite of everything, this isn't actually a bad ending for the twins, either. Ray (or Saeran, or whoever it is we see in the pink suit at the party) obviously endures a lot, but he does get to reunite with his brother.
Everyone's pain during the two years when V is gone can't be diminished, though. Jumin's getting drunk every day. Everyone is safe, at least—but for those two years, no one's happy.
Saeran's AE is certainly intended to be the happiest ending in the game—and in some ways, it is. It's obviously the only ending where Saeran is truly safe and free and at peace—and most of the other characters are more or less okay. Saejoong is dealt with. Saeyoung may not have an MC here, but in many ways he's happier than at the end of his own route—because Saeran is happier, and that's all that's ever really mattered to him.
Jumin may have lost his company, but he's found a new calling—and I've always thought that working separately from his father would be good for him. It's a fantastic ending for Zen and Yoosung, of course—and I like to think that Zen will meet his MC while he's performing in New York and Yoosung will find his while he's studying in France.
It's definitely not an ideal ending for Jaehee—but in my mind, she works for Jumin only as long as he's campaigning. Perhaps she meets her MC during this time; perhaps Jumin wins the election (because of course he will) and Jaehee leaves her job with him to open her coffee shop at that time.
But V—poor, dear V—is suffering yet again. He's so broken in the AE: so lost and hopeless and empty. In the end, he's being held pretrial, but it's implied that he will soon be released. It's not a good ending for him—but I do believe that it's possible for him to eventually find peace in this timeline.
It would take time and a lot of hard work. It would take a reconciliation with Jumin and perhaps some distance from the other people in his life. In his own route, it took him two years to feel grounded; here, it might take even longer. But it's possible; I'm convinced of it.
The ideal ending for Rika, in my opinion, is one where she gets proper treatment for her mental health—and where she's far away from the people she's harmed. I think that's possible here, too: I can envision a future where she leaves the country and enters a treatment facility for a period of time. The people who've suffered at her hands won't have to see her again: they can go their separate ways; everyone can heal.
The AE isn't a perfectly happy ending—that's just not the nature of the game. It takes a bit of mental gymnastics to imagine things turning out well for everyone.
Call me an optimist (you can! I am!), but I do think it's possible that everyone will eventually find their way.

Rlly rlly sure Saeyoung proposes at the end of the secret ending amdnsb, he called everyone cuz it would be a proposal party for you like daz so cute WJDBABDBWH
I was also thinking about the rubber keychains y'know when they hold the ring and stuff. I like to think that Saeyoung asked you to marry him on his house and at the first RFA party after everything was okay, he gives you the ring there instead. I also really love how they put some words next to the rubber keychains when you see them online and Saeyoung's is:
"To tell you the truth, I couldn't concentrate on the party. I've been waiting for this moment - waiting for that moment where everything has been settled, with nothing to stop me from giving you this. You are my pearl, the remedy to my pain.... Can I have a word with you?"
It's cute how it implies that he gave it to you at the party SKDBAJDBAB
I also like how Saeran's rubber keychain, is him hiding the ring behind his back to surprise you LMFAO, he also looks so cute with his mouth open and a hand there too like "omg- you caught me??":
"Huh? A ring? How did you know? Actually... I was worried this wouldn't be good enough for you, my love. I want to give you my all... I hope you'd like it. If you'd prefer something with a different design, let's go get it together."
It's so cute haha!!
ALSO LMFAO IMAGINE SUIT HACKING YOUR PHONE AND DELETING EVERY TRACE OF IT AND THEN SENDING YOU A TEXT LIKE: "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! YOU AIRHEAD!! WHY DO YOU ALWAYS CAUSE TROUBLE FOR ME? DID YOU REALIZE THAT YOU BROKE EVERY SINGLE BOTTLE OF THE ELIXIR?? WAIT UNTIL I TELL MY SAVIOR ABOUT THIS, THEY ARE GONNA THROW YOU OUT NOW, YOU WEAK AIRHEAD!!" THEN HE LIKE- THINKS (rethinks his entire life) TF HE IS GONNA SAY TO HER BECAUSE SHE WOULD BE SO FUCKING TRIGGERED-
Believer: Mr. Saeran? What should-
Suit: SHUT UP AND DO NOT TELL SAVIOR ABOUT THIS OR YOU'LL BE THE ONE TO GO THROUGH THE CLEANSING CEREMONY, YOU GOT IT?!
V, texting MC: "MC?! Is everything okay?? Did something happen? I'm so so sorry.. I'll find a faster way to get you out of there!!"
Don't get me started on Suit Saeran's emojis like did he create them in a whole ass day- LMFAO ALSO FOR GE/AE SAERAN TOO, DID THEY MADE THEM ASJBSAHDHWKDJW
BRO IMAGINE TELLING SAEYOUNG AFTER EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND YOU THREE DISCUSS THE EVENTS OF WHAT HAPPENED WHEN YOU LOST CONNECT WITH THE OTHER MEMBERS AND LATER HE LOW-KEY IS SCARED OF YOU IN GENERAL AND BECAUSE YOU BLASTED CARAMELLDANSEN IN MINT EYE IM CRYING-
But that also means he definitely wants you as his pranking buddy to scare the shit out of the rest of the RFA with pranks CRYINGGGG
NO NO THANK YOU FOR READING AND ANSWERING LMFAO I LOVE SEEING YOUR REACTIONS TO MY SCENARIOS AJDBAJDHAJBDAHDH
I still need time but talking about Mystic Messenger always cheers me up <3
Hope you are well!! Make sure to take breaks!!
Also pls pls pls ramble about Saeran to me as much as you want, I love talking to others about mystic messenger so so much <333 my DMS/asks are always open for you!!
IDEA IDEA he does that gathering at his bunker before they all go off to a party, not many people there its more guests to fill the space, and then he takes you off to a little private area to be all loving and stuff, engagement celebration
he "jokes" about marrying you at the space station so much its definitely his way of making sure you do want to marry him! space themed wedding, he may not have a space station yet but he'll make on earth instead yknow?
IM THINKING ABOUT SUITS AND DRESSES NOW FOR THE WEDDING in my culture the bride changes through like 7 too so ive got lists of ideas in terms of dresses LMAOSKBDD maybe ill add some ideas in
but honestly i see their suits being kinda similar to their party outfits?
SAERAN his party outfit is so pretty fr the pink and the rose im skfhejhf
"my love " i cry every time
GIVING SUIT EXTRA STRESS HE CANT TRUST YOU FOR THREE SECONDS he puts those cameras in and rushes while calling you any time it looks like you're about to try it again, if you then thats it you're stuck sitting on the cold floor of his work room for hours, dont whine about it or he'll kick you out with a believer to babysit you
imagine suit sitting there drawing himself laughing like a maniac crying

Hey lovely I’m so so sorry you didn’t get canadian Ae- I mean Kazuha. Good news is that you still have 20 days left on his banner! That’s 1,200 primos from commisions alone, not including any events that may happen. Idk if you know this but you can get 20 primos from putting a character next to their preferred furnishing set in the serenitea pot! (Spoiler alert- I did not know this until like,,,3 days ago) Plus, he’s gonna have a re-run at some point so this isn’t your only chance!! But anyways, much love and luck from your friendly neighborhood noelle main <33 -Juno☀️
(´•×•)⊃━☆✨💓✨💗💓✨❤️✨💓💝💗💞🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁(thats your daily dose of luck from me :D)
Hi Juno!! It's okay!! I was pretty sad that I lost the 50/50 but at least I got Mona. I didn't have her before and I would have cried if I got a constellation so I'm counting my blessings. I'm still leaving her at level 1 out of spite tho (u‿ฺu✿ฺ) I actually did not know about the 20 primos but I have barely even touched my Serenitea pot to do that yet haha but thank you for the info!! I will be sure to keep that in mind when I'm scrapping together primos. I will say, Noelle mains are the nicest people. Maybe I'm biased because my two other friends main Noelle but 👀👀 idk, there may be some truth to that. (also ty for the maple leaf luck because it worked!!)
Let me tell you. There is no bigger power trip than going into a co-op domain. Seeing 3 other Kazuha's. Entering the domain party selection and being the only LVL 90 Kazuha. And then seeing everyone switch to a different character. That's right cowards, I became a tier 3 simp.

Part 1
The sounds and stench of Wintanceaster were both familiar and abhorrent. Finan did not mind the city but dear God and all His saints did it take some adjustment after being in the fresh air of the road and smaller villages.
He leaned against a table, a cup of ale in hand and foot propped up against the bench across from him. The group relaxed outside of the alehouse. Uhtred was catching up with Father Beocca, Osferth listening intently. Clapa and Sihtric were both drinking silently like Finan, listening in to the conversation and latest news. They had spent the last three months traveling to different burhs and spending minimal time in Coccham. Now they awaited their new orders from King Alfred.
Abruptly, Finan felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Someone was watching him. He knew that feeling. Subtly, he tried to scan those around. A few other patrons were drinking and talking at other tables. A man pulled a cart with a young boy by his side. A pair of priests, their large crosses dangled from their necks and bounced against their chests as they walked. A couple soldiers, a few women with baskets on their hips, some chicken and dogs scurrying around. Nothing unusual. Nothing to warrant this feeling. Yet he could not let it go.
He shifted, lifting the cup to his lips once again. A loud bang drew his attention in the blacksmith's direction. His eyes lazily drifted that way just to satisfy his curious, not expecting much.
Then he saw her.
He almost dropped his cup in his shock.
She stood next to a building across from the alehouse. Her forest green dress was partially hidden by a brown cape with the hood up, leaving only her face exposed. A basket was held in her arms. That face and eyes, he would recognize anywhere. They haunted both his waking and sleeping hours. She was just as mesmerizing as last he saw her.
And she was staring at him.
"Oi." Finan smacked Sihtric's arm, making the Dane grunt and turn around. "You see her. Green dress, brown cape with a basket."
"Yes...she is pretty. Do you know her?"
Knowing she was not an illusion, someone else confirmed her appearance, he refused to let her escape him this time. He drained the rest of his ale quickly, practically throwing the cup back on the table in his haste. As he drank, she had started to walk away, her back turned to him. Like a hound having caught a scent, he followed. None too gently, he pushed those in his way, eyes refusing to abandon her form for fear of losing her in the mingling crowd.
"Wait, aes sídhe!" He easily caught up to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. His breath stuck in his throat when she turned to face him. Up close she was even more radiant. The next words tumbled out of his mouth as he stood awestruck. "Ya are real."
She giggled and he could feel his heart leap at the delightful sound. Slowly she pushed her hood back. "Of course, my lord."
"Oh, I'm no lord, my lady."
"Well, I am no lady."
"What does that make us?" He teased, still in awe. She was here. She was truly real. Over the past three months he had begun to doubt but the small strip of white cloth he kept was the only thing to prove otherwise.
She shrugged, glancing around a moment before meeting his gaze once again. "Whoever we want to be?"
They stood smiling at each other, in a bubble of their own making as people walked past them, like a rock that the stream forced to flow around. Everything faded away until the whole world just consisted of the two of them.
"Why did ya run? Last time."
"You startled me…" she softly said, blushing, "...and I was in my undergarment. It would not be appropriate to hold a conversation thusly."
He laughed, eyes crinkling. Oh, he very much remembered her standing there in the fading sunlight in her shift. Nothing would ever be as beautiful. But he doubted she wanted to hear that right now. "Aye, that makes a fair point. I am Finan."
She replied her name and it seared itself onto his soul. A permanent stain that he would cherish for eternity.
"I need to take these herbs to a friend," she gestured to her basket, eyes remorseful. "I promised to bring them over before dinner. I am sorry."
"May I escort you?" He blurted, not ready to leave her side.
"I would like that."
The pair walked side by side, shoulders brushing occasionally as they maneuvered the streets of Wintanceaster. At her insistence, Finan told her about himself, his lord Uhtred and their life in Coccham. His humorous stories of some of their exploits and shenanigans caused her to reach out and grab his arm so she could keep upright and walk amidst her laughing. He decided her laugh was his favorite sound in the world.
She spoke about how her family just moved to Wintanceaster from an outlying village close to Mercia's borders. Her father feared for their safety due to Dane raids, so they moved to the heart of Wessex. That was how they had stumbled upon one another at the creek. She had slipped away from her family and those traveling with to cleanse herself and be away from the chaos of the caravan. So far down the creek she had not expected to come across someone.
When she confessed there had been a small cave she had hidden herself in from him, he laughed and confessed he thought her a faerie and had vanished from sight.
"Is that what you called me?"
"Mmm? Oh? Aes sídhe."
"Does that mean a faerie?"
"In a way," he confessed, rubbing the back of his neck, "I thought you were too beautiful to be real…"
She blushed and tucked some wayward strands of hair behind her ear. "You are too kind."
"Tis not kindness if its the truth."
Bumping her shoulder playfully against him, she smiled. "Tell me more stories."
So he did, as he followed her to a friend's house, whom she gave the herbs in her basket in exchange for some cloth. Then they started back the way they had come.
"...and that next mornin', we found my boots in the chicken coop with eggs laid in them. A terrible problem really, those hens thought I came to steal their eggs when I just wanted my boots back."
She giggled. "And the others?"
"Aye, Sihtric woke up that mornin' with a cookin' pot on his head and somehow Clapa's axes on the roof. Clapa had to boost Sihtric up, so he could retrieve them...only after they were both sober enough to stand up that is."
They both laughed at the story, and to Finan, it seemed like the sun shown just a little brighter with her by his side.
Up ahead he could see Uhtred and his men were still at the alehouse. For a moment he felt guilty about running with a word then shrugged it off. It was worth it.
She stopped just before the alehouse, him following suit. They stared at one another again, lost in the other's presence and soft smiles.
"I must return to my family. I am sure your lord is waiting for you."
"Can I see ya again?"
A moment of hesitation and it felt like his heart stopped beating. She looked down, biting her bottom lip. Before he could rescind the offer, she looked up smiling. "That would please me."
He let out a breath he had not realized he was holding. "Where are ya stayin'?"
"You'll have to find me. Use those warrior skills." She winked and took several steps back, still holding his gaze.
He was not having that. His feet overtook the ground forward as she moved back. "I could just follow ya now."
"That defeats the challenge then, does it not?"
He opened his mouth to respond, loving the mischievous gleam in her eyes, but was interrupted.
"FINAN!"
The Irishman glanced over his shoulder to see his friends watching him. Catching his eye, Uhtred jerked his head. Apparently, they were done waiting.
"They must miss you."
"Aye, I am not easily replaceable or forgettable."
"No...no, you are not." She took one step closer until their chests were almost touching. Swiftly, she placed a quick peck on his cheek and whispered in his ear. "There's an inn that has a painting of a blue flower on it." With that, she turned and walked away.
His feet remained frozen on those dirty streets, watching her walk down a side alley. As if feeling his lingering gaze, she turned and met his eyes. A smile and shake of her head at him then she turned back around and vanished from his sight.
Only then did he feel freed to move. A stupid grin on his face, and heart soaring above, he turned and moved back towards his friends.
"Who was that? She was very pretty." Uhtred raised an eyebrow, leaning against one of the tables.
"Do ya know of an inn with a blue flower on it?" He ignored Uhtred's questioning gaze.
Father Beocca answered with a confused look. "I do. It is behind the church. It is mostly used by wealthy traders or traveling priests."
Finan grunted, a plan forming in his mind.
"Who was she?"
He looked at his friend, usable to hold back the beaming smile. He clapped Uhtred's shoulder, looking back towards where she had disappeared just moments ago. "That, my lord, is my future wife."

I request a fluffy barbarian au where Bakugou is crushing on this thick, badass viking lady and shes like I will only marry you if you can beat me in a fight.
A/N: Anything for you bb(; I enjoyed writing this request, and just so y’all know I did some rough google translates for the words so don’t sure me if something’s wrong haha
Title: The Barbarian King
Pairing: Katsuki Bakugou x Reader
Katsuki Bakugou!:
“Another weak man, who thinks he can beat our (y/n).”
The giggling females behind him as he passed only served to fuel his anger, the raging roses blooming across his cheeks causing their giggles to increase. These women didn’t care that he was a king, that didn’t matter to them here. Here was a town counted as a free for all trading market, and in the district, mainly vikings and other Nordics took place in this residence for trading and sales. Status here didn’t matter, your value as a tradesman and the quality of your products were the only things that did.
Katsuki had walked towards your area, seeing the way your broad back moved as you helped load a wagon of goods. He glanced at your face and saw a bead of sweat drip down your neck and below your collarbone down your shirt. However his gaze traveled back up to your face as you looked up at him through your lashes from your crouched position, you gave him a smirk as you looked away from his stare.
“What is it now, your terribleness?” You spoke out in the common language, lifting a large vase into the cart before smacking your hands together to get off the dust.
You turn to the man behind you, that teasing smile still on your face as you glanced over him. He was flashy for a Barbarian King, but you assumed that was the whole point. Furs lined his cape and boots, fine leather lined his legs for his pants as well as his belt and arm bands, and while he remained shirtless, his chest was covered in battle scars and intricate tribal tattoos. He was a fine man, maybe not as built as some of the men in your home village, but he was a sight to behold for sure.
“You know why I am here, leubh.”
“Is that so, Aldrnari? And what did I say about calling me leubh, hm?”
Bakugou clicked his tongue at the nickname of flame in your native tongue, your teases doing nothing more but rile him up enough where he felt the burning of desire dance along his skin.
That’s why he was here after all.
“I do not like to repeat myself, leubh. You are going to accept my bindan, yes.”
You hummed while you turned away from him, speaking in your tongue to the trader who you were making the sale with before getting your dirhems. You thanked the trader once more for his business before he walked off, and only then did you turn back to the adonis ruler, who had only starred as he awaited your response.
“Your terribleness, I already told you I am not your love, your leubh. I have my rules-”
“Then I am willing to do what it takes, leubh. You shall be mine.” He growled out lowly, muscles twitching in anticipation to hold your toned body against his own.
Even if he had to beat you first.
You were packing your leather satchel with whatever little belongings you had brought, considering you had only come today with the items for your trade, and were preparing to endure the trek home.
“Are you now, Aldrnari. I do not think you have what it takes to challenge me for my hand.”
Bakugou, now annoyed, snatched your wrist to make you face him as he was ignoring the constant flow of people walking by. You only stared at him in amusement, knowing you could break his wrist if you really felt threatened.
This King wasn’t as fearful as everyone made him out to be, you could see the kitten soul underneath the lion’s exterior. You were interested in the man, surely you didn't know what lady wouldn’t be, but you had rules, morals. You had to keep true to yourself, and that was a man who could triumph in battle. You had no room for a man with a weak will.
“I will challenge you because that is what you ask of me. I bow to no one but my kwoeniz, my queen, and that is what you shall be.”
You bite your lip to hide a smile, merely removing your wrist from his hold and placing your hand upon your waist instead.
“You are certain of yourself, kǫttr.”
“Koh-tah?...” Bakugou blinked at you in confusion, eyebrows furrowed at the word he hadn’t heard you use before, butchering it with his dialect.
“Kǫttr. Baby cat, that is what you are.”
“Huh!? I am a kuningaz, a King. Not a kattuz. Wōd wíf.”
You laugh at his face, which was pulled into a frown, before walking down the path once more. You heard the rustling of his cloak and the clanking of his tribal birthright, the necklaces of fangs that hung from his neck as a warning, a name, an indication all at once.
“I may be a ‘crazy woman’ as you say, but it is the truth. You are soft, sweet like a babe with the heart of a león, a fierce cat.”
You both walked side by side as you walked down the path, enjoying the creek beside you and the whispering willows along the way. The sun would be setting shortly, giving you enough time to head home.
If it wasn’t for your stalker hot on your trail.
“I am fierce, yes. Loyal and true. It’s shall be my duty to protect you-”
You stopped suddenly, a snarl pulled at your lips as you pushed him away.
“Am I not able to protect myself, veslingr?” You hissed an insult in his face.
“That is not-”
“I may be a woman, but I am no means unable. Understand this well, Bakugou, I am not meant to be bound and be made a slave.”
He sighed, overall agitated with your stubbornness and failure to understand.
“Dúfa, you are as free as that in which I call you, Dove.”
“Gjof ser ae til gjalda.”
“I do not understand, leubh.”
“A gift always looks for a return. You shall expect a service far lesser than what I deserve, Víkar.” You called his title in your language as you spit on the ground, a bit disrespectful but he had insulted your pride.
You would not let that go.
His glare did not waver, as neither did yours. The tension was thick, you swore there were sparks in between the both of you, bright enough to blind and hot enough to scar.
“Let us settle this then, (y/n), we shall fight. When I win, you shall accept bindan, our binding. No going back on your word.”
You looked up at his towering form, staring down through your nose with narrowed eyes.
“I never go back on my word, that I can say with honor. You know how I feel about honor, Aldrnari.”
“Yes, to be without silver is better than to be without honor. You have said so many times, leubh. Come now, I have not all day.” His wickedly cocky grin spread across his face as he crouched low, preparing to strike.
You only clicked your tongue back, going into your own fighting stance. The wind blew by, and your eyes narrowed in signal. You jumped up, landing powerful blows onto his large arms as he staggered back from the force. You grew annoyed however, only seeing the powerful man defending.
“You are not attacking, Bakugou! Do you think so little of me!?”
You kicked his stomach, sending him flying back as you tried to regain control of your emotions FIghting with anger was like fighting with the intent to die, and that’s what you were trying to avoid. Hell, with how many times you have won over a man who had asked for your hand, you should just become a part of the wise Volur! A woman married to that of her magic and healing than to a man.
“I think too highly of you, that is my problem.”
Bakugou got behind you faster than you could have anticipated, securing you from behind. You thrashed, but he held tight, leaning in close to your ear.
“(y/n), I have won. You have said that all I needed to do to win your heart was to fight you, so be it-”
“You have been running and defending, not attacking!”
“I have never once said I would attack you, my eardlufu beorht, dear light. I have respect for you as a woman, as my kwoeniz, as a fighter. I shall protect you, as I hope you shall protect me.” He maneuvered in front of you, kneeling on the ground as he still held your hands tight.
The smoldering look on his face made your breath catch in your throat. He was serious, as serious as you could see. There was no falsehood, no games, just pure honesty pouring from his soul.
“The eyes of a maid, tell true, to whom her love she has given..” You whispered softly to yourself.
“Huh!? Maid- I am trying to be honest, yet you call me a maid?” His exasperation was clear, and it caused you to bark out a laugh.
“You are not the maid, you fifl! Fool! I am saying the eyes are a gateway to the soul, and while you are not a maid, you have the eyes of one. An honest opening to your heart, elskan mín.”
His stare did not waver, but instead of rage it held compassion. It held that of a caring man who you knew you couldn’t hide from, yet that would not stop you from teasing.
“However, it is that you have not won against me. How shall one win if he does not fight, hm?”
He flicked your forehead as he stood, causing you to huff in response to the surprise attack.
“Now I have, I have attacked yet not hurt you. Because for the rest of my days I shall be at your beck and call for your safety, as you will mine. We shall be equals, I will not be above you. I will give my heart, my life, my title, and my own safety to insure yours. As you will mine. We shall fight hand in hand, love hand in hand, and be hand in hand for forever until eternity. You said it yourself, I am elskan pín, your love.”
Your cheeks grew warm as you heard the words spilling from his mouth, he knew you had called him your love?
“How did you know what I had said? How do you know those words-”
He placed a thumb over your lips as he held your chin with his hand, a soft smile forming as he stared into your eyes.
“It is as you say, Inn matki munr. ‘The mighty passion’ that we share gives me the incentive to learn your native tongue, as I hope it does for you.”
“You leaned into his touch, not wanting to fight off your feelings any longer. It was true, while he may not have attacked you, he fought for your love countless times. You knew what he was capable of, and Bakugou was a man who was not fearful of heart. He was a passionate man who made a great King, who would make a great husband.
“It shall, well it has. I accept your offer, Víkar. With my life in your hands and yours in mine, I accept it all.”
He let out a loud yell of victory, startling you further as he lifted your large frame off the ground and spun you around. You were by no means a small woman, proving further of his strength.
“It is settled!”
“Unhand me or else, Katsuki!”
The sound of his name leaving your lips caused a shiver to run down his spine as he did what you told, gently placing you on your feet. He kissed you eagerly as you did the same, before he pulled back and rested his forehead against yours.
“Að unna, Katsuki.”
“Ic lufie þē, (y/n).”
And you both did, love each other very much, the soul never lies.

Raje Judkins answered some questions about the show. Filming spoilers for the show below:
Q: What part of the books should you be caught up on for the first season?
A: Depends on if you like to read something before you watch it or not.
Q: What are you finding most challenging about going from book to screen? A: The hardest thing is the physicality of production. In the first book alone they go to more than 20 villages and cities. To try to do that is physically impossible for the show, so most of the work we don in the room is geographical, figuring how to condense the story and move it through places we can physically create.
Q: Do you have a favorite chapter from the whole saga? Mine is Veins of Gold. A: So many. But Honey in the Tea is the one off the top of my head.
Q: We can’t wait to see Elayne, Aviendha and Min
A: Me either. Three of my favorites.
Q: Has any post-production work begun or does that not start until filming is completed?
A: Nope! We do it simultaneously. Before the corona hit, I was prepping 2 episodes, shooting 2 episodes, in post on 4 episodes and writing Season 2 simultaneously :-0
Q: Will there be a soundtrack? Who’s the composer? A: Of course! David Buckley. Plus a few incredible musical guests we’ve already had.
Q: Are Min/Elayne in season 1? A: The Wheel weaves as the wheel wills
Q: Are you going to merge Min and Elayne? A: Hell no
Q: First moment you were speechless on set? A: First time walking into Emond’s Field with my mom
Q: Is mat fluent in the old tongue yet? A: We’ve had a couple cast members speak in it already and they NAILED IT
Q: Which character has your favorite costume so far? A: Ooo this is tough. Probably Geofram Bornhald.
Q: How is the cast and crew weathering the pandemic? A: Our team in Prague did an amazing job of getting everyone out and keeping them safe. And now everyone’s home and we all live on Instagram.
Q: Who is your favorite Forsaken? A: Ahhh. I love the ladies. Graendal, Lanfear, Moghedien. And Ishamael holds a special place in my heart the more time I spend with him
Q: What’s been your favourite shooting location so far? A: Slovenia! Spectacular stuff there
Q: Yes or no. Have you had to make any cuts be it a scene or character, that has been painful for you? A: Yes.
Q: How are you planning to handle the visualization of the weaves? Any little tidbits? A: We are trying to stay as true to the books as possible. I’ve been giving a bunch of VFX folks long diatribes about channeling, weaves, threads, earth vs. air, etc and they early stuff has started coming in. It looks FUCKING AWESOME. I screamed when Rosamund started channeling
Q: Similar to Them performing in an old Inn, what other iconic moment filmed stands out to u? A: Rand and Tam walking through the Westwood
Q: Blink twice if Min is in season 1. A: 😉😉
Q: Will Jeff Probst be one of the Aiel? Can you make some calls? A: If he dyes his hair red 😉
Q: Which WOT book title best describes your self isolation experience? A: A Memory of Light…
Q: Can we expect a trailer for the show anytime soon? A: Probably not for a long while sadly.
Q: Can you guys do a big WoT Wed announcement during the hiatus to keep all us fans hyped instead of al A: Yea! It would cheer us all up and we have some fun news
Q: Is Lan going to be as much or an absolute stud in the show as he is in the books? A: You’ve seen @danielhenney right?
Q: If you were an Aes Sedai, what Ajah would you choose? A: Such a good question. They all have merits but GREEN for the win. If only to hang with @priyankabose20
Q: Will we have to wait till season 2 to see any Aiel? (Other than Rand)
A: Nope. And the one you see will shock you. Hah. Amazon shouldn’t let me be on here when I’ve been cooped up for a week.
Q: RJ writes a lot of internal headspace stuff. What’s 1 hint on how the show will handle that? A: That’s the biggest difficulty of any novel adaptation. Figuring out how to make the internal monologue come out clearly to the audience. A lot of the changes we make and stories we tell differently are designed to serve exactly that purpose – showing you what those characters internal monologues from the book are without them just saying it out loud in exposition
Q: Are you using taller actors to portray the Aiel, or camera trickery? A: Trying to get tall folks. But I’m less concerned with height and more concerned with acting ability.
Q: Since JordanCon was cancelled, can we maybe get an extra treat next month? A: Sure! What do you want?
Q: Do you have a favorite Wise One? A: Avi
Q: How many trollocs do I have to take out to become a writing assistant? A: Violence is never the answer
Q: What would you say the CGI to practical ratio is going to be? A: Tring to do as much in camera as we possibly can!
Q: How are you handling sword forms and their names? A: We have a for real sword master on the show who walks into every room and tests out everything as a weapon. He could most definitely kill me with any item in my office.
Q: How are the horses on set? Is Mandarb spectacular? A: They are so great. Honestly I love our horses. Mandarb and Aldieb are downright sexy
Q: When will we get more casting announcements to hold us over? A: I’ll try to get them to put out something soon. A lot of folks in all departments are affected by the state of the world right now though, so I can’t promise a timeline
Q: will we see the prologue from the Eye of the World on screen in season 1 A: You will hear that phrase
Q: What has been your favorite set so far? A: Fal Dara!
Q: Please tell me you’ve cut Narg!! A: Never!!
Q To what extent has Harriet McDougal been involved with the project? A: She’s a consulting producer so she’s been out to Prague to the sets and reads all the scripts and sends me her notes on them. She and Maria are hugely helpful for maintaining the truth of the series and always keep me honest when it comes to things that change too much
Q: Is any aspect of the show still in development, or has it all stalled because of the virus? A: A lot can be done virtually! I’m still doing VFX, editing and the Season Two Virtual Writers Room! And I can do it all in pajamas
Q: Will min, elayne, and avienda have to be combined into a single character?
A: Girl you crazy. I’m not going to combine huge characters like that. Maybe sometimes a minor character folded into a more major one to make better use of our cast but nothing nutso
Q: RJ created 1000’s of character. Given that did you feel the need to create new characters? A: Anyone “new” is inspired by characters in the books or a number of characters combined. If we paid to cast all speaking roles in the book we could only afford to have a radio play
Q: So far, what is your favorite prop in the show? A: Great Serpent Ring. We all want one.
Q: Will Loial portray the Ogier species, or will he be humanised for screen? A: He’s an Ogier!
Q: How involved, if involved at all, is Sanderson in the writers room? A: Brandon is hugely helpful. I talked to him before we started Season Two while he was in Prague to get advice and he reads all the scripts and gives notes. He’s incredibly thoughtful and understands the process of adaptation and what’s required from it. I feel so lucky to have him involved. I would have him do more if I could make him!
Q: What words of hope would you offer a fan afraid that the show will cut out a lot of content? A: I genuinely think we are cutting less than most people think. When I see people ask questions like “are you cutting Min?” It blows my mind. I don’t know how you do an adaptation without some of these characters. I think it’ll be more of the smaller stories you’ll miss. We can’t have Rand and May (sic) travel to many many inns on their travels across the countryside for instance. It’s just not producible. So that will be more of what you miss I think, and the books always exist to read for that 🙂
Q: I think Bella is such an important character, will the same horse play bella through the series A: We’ve already had to have two Belas. It turns out a horse for riding on film is not the same as a horse for pulling a cart and SHE MUST DO BOTH
Q: Can you please make sure you do a great job? Book are so great A: This is are a really good idea
Q: Now you’ve met them, settle the score: who’s better with women? Rand, Mat or Perrin? A: I think they’d all say it’s the other
Q: Will the show be understandable for those who didn’t read the books? A: That’s the idea. If there are little things they don’t get though, luckily google exists
Q: Who is your favorite Aes Sedai in the books? And you can’t say Moiraine/Siuan or the Wonder Girls A: So many rules. I honestly love all of them though (except Galina that bitch) Alanna Liandrin and Verin are probably my Top 3. And Siuan! There’s too many I love. Sheriam! Pevara!

Wheel of Time liveblogging: Towers of Midnight prologue (part 1)
I’m back, with as much verbosity and discussion of identity as ever, this time featuring Lan and Perrin.
Loial gets the epigraph this time. Good for you, Loial. Live your dreams.
Prologue: Distinctions
Wait a second. Hold on. Is this… are we… am I being greeted, upon my return to this series after several months, by a Lan POV? Is this possible?
Mandarb’s hooves beat a familiar rhythm on broken ground as Lan Mandragoran rode toward his death.
Because of course. Of course we get Lan’s POV, for the first time in the series, when he is riding at last to his private war with the Blight, to avenge the country that died decades ago and whose death he has always seen as his own, only delayed. Of course we get his POV now, when he is riding to what he believes is, at last, his death.
This has always been his purpose. He is a sword, a weapon, an oath, a fallen nation. A weapon doesn’t get to have a voice. A dead nation doesn’t get to speak. A sword can’t tell its own story. Especially because, all that time, he was held back from this, which he has always seen as his purpose. His only purpose. He let himself be bonded all those years ago but he never really gave up that sense of… I was about to say identity, but it’s both identity and total lack thereof. Identity, but not as a person, not as someone with agency and a story to tell. Just a weapon, forged for a single purpose.
And so, riding to his death, this is the closest he comes in the main series to feeling alive. Now that he is fulfilling that purpose, now that he is following the one path he has always considered his own. This, here, this ride to his death, is his entire identity.
So yes. In that sense it is beautifully fitting that we open with his POV for the first time in the main series, now as it draws towards its end. Now that he is freed, such as it is, to at last meet what he believes is his end, and his beginning, and the task that defined his entire… well. ‘Life’ sounds rather ironic there, but it’s the best I can do.
Anyway, we’re one line in and I’ve already written several hundred words, so I guess even after a hiatus nothing’s changed.
Turns out the earth is apparently quite literally salted here. So that’s a good start.
He’d turned away from it twenty years ago, agreeing to follow Moiraine, but he’d always known he would return. This was what it meant to bear the name of his fathers, the sword on his hip, and the hadori on his head.
All three representative of something dead, something lost, something gone. Something he accepts as lost. He doesn’t ride to revive Malkier, he rides to bury it (though I’m sure he wouldn’t mind praising it along the way). His entire life and self have been defined by this, by death and the past. The wheel of time turns, and stories fade and must ultimately be left in order to find a future, but Lan, for all his wisdom in some areas, has never really understood that. Or, perhaps more accurately, never felt it could apply to him.
I think in some way he did understand it, in that he bound himself to Moiraine even when it meant leaving his burned past and his private war in order to fight for the future of the world, but even then, it was only… temporary. Ultimately, he accepts the past as having a hold on him, accepts the idea the has never had and never will have a future.
It is, in a way, a parallel to or slight variant on Rand, on a different scale. Rand struggled (at least I think it’s past tense at this point) for so long to figure out how to accept Lews Therin as a part of himself without the terror of being bound to his past life’s fate. And on top of that there’s his whole he belongs to the Pattern, and to history. Moiraine saw that as future history – something that is not yet but will be history, but is future from where we stand. But Rand – and Lan – end up with a slightly different view of that. Rand fights against the memory of a doomed past and relinquishes all sense of freedom or choice or agency (until he gets better), and Lan lets the past own him and define him and guide him and kill him, all without ever dreaming to have a life of his own.
Riding to his death didn’t pain him
And why should it? Defined by death as he is. If you never think of yourself as someone who gets to be a person and have a life, what fear would death hold? He was only ever a… placeholder? A delayed strike, a remnant, a part of something dead that just hasn’t got around to lying down and stopping yet.
But knowing she feared for him… that did hurt. Very badly.
There’s a slightly bitter part of me that can’t quite get over the disappointment that the first Lan POV we get in the main series isn’t written by Jordan. Because Jordan’s writing of Lan in New Spring was beautiful. Spare but surprisingly lovely, and yet all threaded through with the idea and mention and thought of death, not in a morbid or even grim way but just as a part of the lens through which the story is told… it was so perfectly suited to Lan, and this feels… less so. It’s not bad; it’s just. I feel like I have a sense of what it could be and it’s not quite that.
Then again we’re still only like two paragraphs in, Great Lord of the Dark Lia would you get on with it already.
He hadn’t seen another person in days.
Too soon for a self-isolation joke?
Oh look, the first of his army has arrived!
Because the Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gai’don. Man, that scene.
This kid’s like ‘hi! I’m here! I brought things, and supplies, and I’m just so excited, and and and’ and Lan is like ‘okay but who the fuck are you’.
Come on, Wheel of Time, let Lan Mandragoran say ‘fuck’.
Bulen? That sounds familiar, and he looks familiar to Lan…he’s definitely from New Spring. He was the errand boy, wasn’t he? Well, three cheers for conservation of characters.
“But when word spread in the palace that the Golden Crane was raised, I knew what I had to do.”
Really, Bulen? Do you not remember what happened last time someone tried to raise the Golden Crane in Lan’s name? I mean I’m all for it and Nynaeve is certainly a long way from Edeyn and that scene of the Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gai’don still gives me at least two-thirds of an emotion when I think about it, but you’d think the kid would have grown a sense of self-preservation after what went down twenty years ago. Then again, no one in this series has a sense of self-preservation, so why change that now?
El’Nynaeve! She gets her title! She once had to fight so hard for people to respect her as Wisdom, and then as Aes Sedai, and now people who have barely met her give her a royal title! Because she’s out there raising an army and a nation from its grave!
(Yeah, yeah, you could point out that she has to fight for all the titles she earns, while this is one given to her by virtue of her marriage to a man, but honestly I’m just going to enjoy hearing this random kid call her El’Nynaeve because he already thinks of her as his queen because she’s just that cool. And you can’t stop me.)
Well, if she could play games with the truth, then so could he. Lan had said he’d take anyone who wished to ride with him. This man was not mounted. Therefore, Lan could refuse him. A petty distinction, but twenty years with Aes Sedai had taught him a few things about how to watch one’s words.
I’m dying. Sure, the prose is Sanderson, but the sentiment it expresses? Is absolutely Lan. It’s a slightly more grown up and jaded version of New Spring Lan, and it’s pretty much exactly what I imagine Lan’s internal monologue throughout the entirety of The Eye of the World looking like. He and Moiraine are well-matched in that for all their extreme competence, and wisdom, and ability to set everything aside for the sake of the world… they are also capable of great pettiness coated in a fine veneer of dry humour and presented as Done With Your Shit.
Lan’s just like ‘nope, no cranes to see here, golden or paper or otherwise, just denial as far as the eye can see.’
Lan would not call anyone ‘son’. He has an epithet for everyone but that is not one of them.
“My father was Malkieri,” Bulen said from behind.
Lan continued on.
“He died when I was five,” Bulen called.
Yes, well, that’s something you have in common, give or take a few years.
Lan’s not here for anyone’s tragic backstory but his own.
Except Bulen, for all that he never learned self-preservation, apparently learned how to tug on the heartstrings.
“I would wear the hadori of my father,” Bulen called, voice growing louder. “But I have nobody to ask if I may.”
Damn it, this kid. Was that me or Lan speaking just now? We may never know.
Lan’s still trying to send him away, because Lan Mandragoran does not need to adopt any more wayward children who are only trying to find their way, and Bulen’s just trying every angle of attack he can possibly find and this kid sure has an arsenal.
“I hardly knew who you were, though I know you lost someone dear to you among us.”
Because if appealing to your tragic past doesn’t work, maybe appealing to his will. I have to admire Bulen’s determination to make a slightly nostalgic nuisance of himself until the Uncrowned King of Malkier finally gives him a sticker.
“I spent years cursing myself for not serving you better. I swore that I would stand with you someday.” He walked up beside Lan. “I ask you because I have no father. May I wear the hadori and fight at your side, al’Lan Mandragoran? My King?”
I’m fine. This is fine. Everything is fine and I do not feel emotions.
And Lan’s cursing Nynaeve for the oath she made him swear but what a conflict this must be for him: to be confronted with the life of his nation, when all he wants is to avenge its death. To have someone look to him not as a sword or a reminder of what is gone but as a father, a king, a leader, a symbol of something returning, something renewed.
It is, in a way, not entirely unlike his conflict in New Spring. Only he’s already learned to crush that hope before it even makes itself known, because it can only end in pain. And yet, it doesn’t stop finding him.
Nynaeve, when I next see you… But he would not see her again. He tried not to dwell upon that.
Don’t say that where Nynaeve can hear you. But really, I think I’ve said this before, but Lan is one of the characters whose survival I am most confident in, largely because of this. Because to let him die… sure, it wouldn’t really be surprising, and in a way it would fulfil the ending he wants, but it wouldn’t… move his story anywhere. Whereas to take a character so certain of and accepting of his death, someone who never believed he should even have a life at all, whose every waking moment has been in waiting of his end, the truly satisfying ending would be for him to get to live. Not just in the sense of surviving, but actually living.
Because again, it’s not unlike a part of Rand’s story, recently: the rediscovery of life. Of the purpose of it all. On Dragonmount he saw it two ways: once as meaningless, pointless, because victory just brings another battle and every lifetime is pain and he has no freedom and why not just end it. But then as another chance, the possibility of life and love and something better. And I think there’s an element of that threaded through the series as a whole. This idea that yes, things fade and die and are lost, and yes there is pain and duty and a Pattern woven, but in amidst all of that the point is to live. Not to just survive until you can die for the cause, but to actually live along the way. It’s that question of what are you fighting for, what is the purpose of all of this? Rand has, at last, found that. Lan… still needs to.
“We ride anonymously,” Lan said.
Sure. As anonymously as Rand riding into Tear, pretending gloves could hide his identity. Whatever you say, Lan.
“You tell nobody who I am.”
There’s a whole Thing here about erasing his own identity, which is almost ironic in that the fact that he has a POV at all is a way of showing him embracing that identity, except that the identity he is embracing is the denial of self to all intents and purposes in favour of a duty and a dead nation that defined him before he could ever define himself.
I mean. It’s just a throwaway line. But I’m me, and so it’s not.
***
Oh hello Perrin, what are you doing in a prologue? Shouldn’t you be off in a real chapter with all your friends? Run along now.
He seems to be at a forge, though, so that’s a good look.
Some people found the clang of metal against metal grating. Not Perrin. That sound was soothing.
I like this, because especially without the surrounding context it plays so well into one of the central dualities of Perrin’s character: that of the gentle, careful one who wants to build things and work a forge and know peace versus the side of him that is terrifying in battle and feels alive when fighting and runs with wolves. Metal on metal, in a forge or a battlefield.
Oh it’s a dream. That works too. Rand dreams of his sworn and fated enemy and sits with him by the fire as they both take a moment away from the tasks neither of them truly want but cannot relinquish, and Perrin dreams of a forge.
He was making something important.
A nation? A decision? A bed to replace the one he ‘lost’ in the bushes? Tell us, Perrin.
Understand the pieces, Perrin.
Ah, and there it is. Such a crucial task for the ta’veren whose power manifests largely in the forging of nations, in bringing people to him and together, in binding. But to do that, you have to know what you’re binding. Which requires not denying it, but I think perhaps Perrin has finally moved beyond that.
Hi Hopper. Want a belly rub?
What am I making? Perrin picked up the length of glowing iron with his tongs. The air warped around it.
Well that is the question, Perrin, is it not? Time to let yourself answer it. Time to move past instinct, or exceptional ability in emergencies that lapses into denial once they’re over. He’s so good in those situations, but he struggles with the times in between, the times when his thoughts catch up to him. And now… he needs to push past that, and be able to truly accept it all, to not just swing the hammer but to know what he’s making, to plan it, to be deliberate and purposeful – which is so much a part of him in some ways, but there are areas he avoids.
Hopper’s like okay okay but can we get our symbolism by chasing things or something fun? You humans and your hammers, I swear.
Master Luhhan would be ashamed to see such shoddy work. Perrin needed to discover what he was making soon
I mean, there’s really nothing for me to even add to that.
More hammering, but he’s angry now.
It should all be better now! But it isn’t. It seems worse somehow.
He continued pounding. He hated those rumours that the men in camp whispered about him.
There’s a pun here to be made about hammers and pounding and Berelain but I am an adult and therefore I shall refrain.
More to the point, though… he’s directing his anger at the rumours but I think it’s rather more about that first part. That things should be ‘better’ now, but they aren’t, and he still doesn’t know what he’s making. He was driven, focused (too driven, too focused) and he had a task and so he could pursue it with single-minded determination, but as soon as he completed it… he was back with his thoughts and a nation following him and a role he has partway accepted but still hasn’t quite come to terms with. He still doesn’t fully accept what he is, who he is, what he can do, what he will have to do.
And so he’s doing what he can, and trying to forge those bonds and face what’s coming but there’s a part of him still holding back, still uncertain of what that means, or still reluctant to face it.
It’s an interesting scene because the framing is so similar to Perrin at the forge in The Dragon Reborn, and yet the tone is so utterly different. That was meditative, deliberate, beautiful; Perrin in his element, creating something perhaps not beautiful but well-made, functional, perfectly suited to its purpose. That was Perrin as he saw himself then, when he knew who he was – or at least, who he wanted to be. This… the work is sloppy and Perrin doesn’t even know what he’s making (whereas then, he decided almost immediately but without urgency; it was just an ease and comfort in knowing what the metal would be) but he’s pressing ahead; this is his identity but he’s still forcing it, and so it all feels wrong.
Hopper’s like okay well why don’t you just, you know, not, and ah, we’re back to the wolf thing. Just because Rand has perhaps finally figured out how to balance the different aspects of himself doesn’t mean all the characters have.
Perrin wasn’t nearly as in control as he’d assumed. The wolf within him could still reign.
But, like with the forging, trying to force it isn’t really the answer. Accept, Perrin. Look at the pieces you actually have. Understand them. Understand the different parts of yourself, and take them as they are, and then you can forge them and fit them together. But you can’t do it by ignoring what they are and just trying to force them into what you think they should be. Especially if you don’t even have a clear idea of what that is.
Problems are not amusing, Young Bull, Hopper agreed. But you are climbing back and forth over the same wall.
At least it’s not that damn garden wall in Caemlyn.
But I like how directly this is acknowledged, first with Tam last book and now with Hopper, here. That Perrin keeps wavering over this same conflict, keeps taking two steps forward and one step back, keeps doubting himself and questioning himself and fearing this aspect of himself that he taps into at need but then runs from again.
I like it, as a way to play out a character arc in a way that isn’t just linear growth. Sure, it’s frustrating as all hell sometimes, but it feels real. Because sometimes we don’t Learn The Important Lesson and then move on with our lives never having to face that problem again. Sometimes you overcome your doubts or fear of something once, or find your way past an obstacle, only to find that when it comes up again, hey, turns out it’s still pretty difficult. Not everything is conquered the first time, or the second, or…
PERRIN DO NOT ASK HOW TO REVERSE YOUR WOLFPOWERS. EMBRACE THE WOLFPOWERS. YOU’VE ONLY GOT TWO BOOKS LEFT.
Ah, Perrin, so much self-doubt. But then, his timeline is a bit behind Rand’s, I believe, so he is rather due for a last moment of crisis before the storm breaks.
The quenching barrel is boiling and Perrin doesn’t know what he’s forging and all his movements are almost…clumsy. Rushed and uncareful and the exact opposite of the spare economy of motion from that first forging scene. Because he’s no longer moving with the comfort of surety in who he is and what he’s doing; he’s doubting himself and his task and his capacity and his purpose, unsure and afraid and trying to force some things and ignore others and it doesn’t work that way.
Oh, I like this.
The glow faded. The chunk was actually a small steel figurine in the shape of a tall, thin man with a sword tied to his back. Each line of the figure was detailed, the ruffles of the shirt, the leather bands on the hilt of the tiny sword. But the face was distorted, the mouth open in a twisted scream.
Aram, Perrin thought. His name was Aram.
That is excellent. And it reminds me so strongly, with the twisted scream and the naming, of that scene that absolutely ruins me in the Rhuidean sequence, where Lewin veils his face and the wind rises and he screams ‘I am Aiel’, as those who call themselves Aiel turn from him and name him lost.
And that Aram is forged from steel, from Perrin’s forge, because Perrin as he sees it made him what he became (took him from a life of peace to one of violence), and it’s a perfectly formed piece; it’s not like a misshapen lump of metal, but it’s still wrong. Not what it should be. Not what it should have been.
Why had he created such a thing?
Oh, Perrin.
What a question. Because of course he holds himself responsible. But… while he may have been a catalyst of sorts, this was Aram’s choice. But that doesn’t make it hurt less. A child of peace, who lost everything and came to Perrin for permission to learn the sword, to fight and kill, and who eventually lost even that and died for it. A follower of the Way of the Leaf, brought to a life and death of violence at Perrin’s side. Perrin, who for all he argued with the Tuatha’an about their pacifism still wished for a world in which it could be true, and, I think, wished a little bit that he could have known something like that for himself.
Aw, we left Malden, do we have to go back in the dreamscape?
Did Perrin really look that imposing?
Yes. Next question?
A squat fortress of a man
I am dying. What a phrase. Who needs a brick shithouse when you can have a squat fortress.
And he’s holding the axe again in his dream. He made that choice, but like so many other things, it still occasionally wavers. He is still not sure of who he is. That, he still hasn’t truly decided and accepted and understood, for all that he’s grasped pieces of it around the edges.
A horn or a hoof, Young Bull, does it matter which one you use to hunt? Hopper was sitting in the sunlit street beside him.
“Yes. It matters. It does to me.”
And yet you use them the same way.
I like this exchange because Hopper is right… but so is Perrin. Because perception is absolutely a part of it. Perception, and choices, and a… claiming, of sorts, of his identity. Yes, he uses the hammer to destroy, just as he uses the axe. But to him, the fact that the hammer can be used for another purpose matters. It makes a difference because he chooses to see it that way. Which is, in its way, just as important as Rand choosing to see his fate not as inevitability and despair but as another chance. The smallest shift in perception, looking at the same thing from a slightly different angle, and yet it makes all the difference in the world.
I just like things like that, where these ideas can be simultaneously so close together and so far apart. These infinitesimal distinctions that alter an entire worldview. One small shift and everything falls into place, even if from the outside you’d never understand that there was a difference.
When Perrin fought, he came close to becoming someone else. And that was dangerous.
But is it someone else? Or is this like Rand and Lews Therin, where he fought so hard to hold to the distinction, because he was too afraid of what it might mean to let Lews Therin be a part of him. Perrin is so afraid of what accepting the wolf aspect of his nature might mean, that he sees it as a different person. As someone else. As something he could lose himself to, rather than as something he needs to find within himself and embrace as part of who he is.
Ah, identity.
“Why are you making me dream this?”
Yeah, sorry Perrin, but no.
Though for some reason this reminds me of that dream Rand and Moridin shared and Moridin finally being like ‘okay so what are you doing here’ and Rand thinking Moridin had brought him into the dream and really, boys, do I need to get Egwene in here to teach the lot of you how to dream responsibly?
Except wait, no, Egwene dreams about Gawyn so she’s not responsible in that regard either. Damn.
Anyway.
So Perrin’s re-living Aram’s death in his dreams.
Perrin stepped back. He refused to fight the boy again.
The shadowy version of himself split off, leaving the real Perrin in his blacksmith’s clothing. The shadow exchanged blows with Aram.
Because Perrin is fighting himself: the blacksmith who wants peace, and the warrior who runs with wolves. But he doesn’t see how they can reconcile, how he could possibly be both.
Also everything about Aram’s story is still rather beautifully sad. A lonely branching of the Aiel’s ongoing story, an offshoot of the main Rhuidean sequence, truncated before it could go anywhere, lost with who knows how many others.
Right before Aram would have killed Perrin.
The horn, the hoof, or the tooth […] Does it matter? The dead are dead.
[…]
“I should have taken that fool sword from him the moment he picked it up. I should have sent him back to his family.”
Does not a cub deserve his fangs? Hopper asked, genuinely confused. Why would you pull them?
“It is a thing of men,” Perrin said.
Things of two-legs, of men. Always, it is a thing of men to you. What of things of wolves?
“I am not a wolf.”
This whole argument with Hopper is excellent because again, Hopper is right. But so is Perrin. And it’s so perfectly… it’s Perrin’s dream, and whether Hopper is actually there or not is almost irrelevant, because it’s essentially Perrin arguing with himself. At war between the two sides of his nature, and he goes around and around because until he accepts that he can be both, that he does not have to be defined as the man or the wolf, he won’t be able to find answers that make sense. Because it’s an argument where both sides are right, but he’s trying to pick only one. And so he can never win, never progress.
Perrin in his dream is literally forging figures of the people from the Two Rivers. Just like in reality he is forging them, binding them together, making them into what they must be to face the Last Battle with him. It’s not subtle, but it is rather lovely.
Though lines like this:
The figurine continued to glow, faintly reddish
Still give me flashbacks to last book, and Rand, and a certain ter’angreal of mass destruction.
But figurines like this wouldn’t be forged; they’d be cast. “What does it mean?”
Hey, at least you know enough of dreams to understand that Here There Be Symbolism, even if you don’t quite understand what of. We’ll call that a solid B+.
Hopper doesn’t think much of symbolism unless he can eat it. That’s fair.
Laughter in the distance? Moridin, are you fucking with people’s dreams again? Though he doesn’t seem like much of one for laughter these days.
Either way, dreamtime’s over. Good night, Perrin.

sermon 23, annotated
i might have skipped a few. whoops. i just was reading this one and got excited and wrote this up. here goes!
First:
'The sword, treated as a delicate meal, is the Symbolic Collage. It serves you well in the first half of life. Name one dynasty that knows this not.'
to treat the sword “as a delicate meal” means to use it wisely, not rashly. using a carefully-aimed bullet makes more of a statement than a carelessly-tossed hand grenade. all of those statements come together in a “collage” of statements, or symbols - hence, “the Symbolic Collage.”
every budding emperor knows that an empire at war, an empire seeking conquest, is an empire doing well. see reman cyrodiil, tiber septim, indoril nerevar. it only serves you well “in the first half of life” because, well, at some point you run out of things to conquer. then it will either come back to bite you as you grow old, or in the lives of your successors. see reman with the akaviri potentate, septim with the oblivion crisis, nerevar with the red year (or tiber septim).
Second:
'The unity of my approach is understood by the immobile warrior. True eyes are acquired. Rejoice as my own subjects and realms. I build for you a city of swords, by which I mean laws that cut the people who live there into better shapes.'
“the immobile warrior” is steadfast in his ideals, and will fight to the death for them. vivec claims that such warriors, who see with “true eyes” (who follow the “true” ideals), see the same truth that ze does. therefore, they are hir “own subjects,” sharing the same ideals of God hirself.
the “city of swords” may at first evoke the city vivec, but consider the context of the previous sermon, wherein vivec establishes the morag tong. ze constructs a “[house] of swords,” an organization ordained by the laws (which vivec also constructs) to serve as a weapon against and for hir people.
the sword can cut down enemies, but it also can “cut the people who live there into better shapes.” the morag tong receives assignments to take out problematic individuals, and vivec believes that a society which allows these sort of executions of individuals, individuals that people are willing to pay money to get rid of, is a society conforming to a sort of survival-of-the-fittest.
if someone disagrees with your ideals, they send a sword - and who can disagree with a sword? in doing so they minimize dispute in society, and thereby “sharpen” the sword of culture by ensuring everyone is on the same page and able to move forward as one.
but because there are so many players at this game, a “monopoly” on culture is very difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. but the culture still refines itself: the players learn the game, its rules and how to break them, and how not to get caught. and because the costs the sword exacts are great, it is often in the best interest of the players to find alternative ways to solve problems. through these processes the society learns what it values most, and progresses along those lines.
Third:
'Girls burn their dresses on my arrival if I am armored. They crawl to me as bled pilgrims. Minor spirits die without trace. Follow me of all the ALMSIVI if you are to mark your days with killing. AE ALTADOON, the third law of weaponry.'
ignore the first three sentences. it’s mk fuckery. ignore it.
vivec, the thief, the sword of ALMSIVI, is the patron of assassins and mercenaries.
“AE ALTADOON” means something like “i am (a) weapon” or “is (a) weapon.” ALTADOON definitely means weapon. AE has a less clear meaning, despite (or maybe due to) its many appearances in lore.
consider its first use in the lessons, “AYEM AE SEHTI AE VEHK.” this “seven syllable spell” seems to be a reference to ALMSIVI, of course. (in case you’re unaware: ayem, seht, and vehk are the names of daedric letters, each being the first letter of almalexia, sotha sil, and vivec, respectively.) it seems to mean something like “ayem is seht is vehk.”
it’s probably safe to assume AE simply doesn’t translate to english well. it’s definitely some form of the english infinitive “to be” that just doesn’t conjugate at all in ehlnofex. it seems when between two nouns, it means “is,” while when it begins a phrase, it means “i am.”
anyways! “AE ALTADOON” seems to make more sense here as “i am a weapon,” which is apparently “the third law of weaponry.” so even if you’re unarmed, you must know that you yourself are a weapon.
i really do wonder what the other laws of weaponry are!
Fourth:
'The immobile warrior is never fatigued. He cuts sleep holes in the middle of a battle to regain his strength.'
so this seems to mean like......the immobile warrior takes micronaps in the middle of battle?????
or maybe he just drinks restore fatigue/stamina potions...wouldn’t be the first time the lessons have made direct references to the games themselves.
Fifth:
'Instinct is not reflex action, but mini-miracles held in reserve. I am the welfare that decides which warrior will emerge. Beg not for luck. Serve me to win.'
hearken back to sermon 4. vivec does not believe in luck and does not want you to either. ze wants you to believe in hir. vivec decides who lives and dies. vivec is the one who helps you in battle, not “instinct” or “luck.” if you want to win, serve vivec.
Sixth:
'The span of the apparently inactivated is your love of the absolute. The birth of God from the netchiman's wife is the abortion of kindness from love.'
the things that you think are “inactivated” or unimportant only seem that way because of “your love of the absolute.” things are not so black and white. things that may seem not important at all might be at least a little important, and that matters.
“the abortion of kindness from love” is very, very interesting. vivec says that love need not be kind. we’ll get a bit more on this in sermon 35, which is all about love. but suffice it to say, vivec has done many unkind things, but ze has done it all out of love for hir people. ze desperately wants you to trust hir on that.
Seventh:
'The true sword is able to cut chains of generations, which is to say, the creation myths of your enemies. Look on me as the exiled garden. All else is uncut weed.'
let’s look at this equation vivec is setting up: “chains of generations” = “the creation myths of your enemies.”
the “chains of generations” are shackles imposed by the weight of heredity and genealogy. if you allow them, they will bind you to the fate of your family.
this sermon is addressed to the morag tong. therefore, the “enemies” ze mentions are intended to be the altmer, the elves of the old ways which the chimer separated themselves from.
the altmer are very obsessed with their lineage as proposed direct descendants of the gods. but vivec says all it does is bind them. “the true sword,” the philosophy that ze is teaching to hir audience, is not only able to cut these “chains,” but also demands you to.
vivec as “the exiled garden” frames hir as something beautiful and well-kept. “all else,” speaking not only of the races of men but also the western mer obsessed with lineages, “is uncut weed,” unwelcome and unkempt.
Eighth:
'I give you an ancient road tempered by the second walking way. Your hands must be huge to wield any sword the size of an ancient road, and yet he who is of right stature may irritate the sun with only a stick.'
ah, the walking ways. this time, the second. this walking way was traveled by notables such as veloth himself.
“your hands must be huge to wield any sword the size of an ancient road,” and so vivec gives it to hir mortal servants, since we know of hir “giant form.” ze gives it to them so they don’t have to make it themselves. they may walk the road thanks to vivec.
and the road grants them great power. to make a path like that requires you to have accomplished great things. it’s likely saint veloth, veloth the pilgrim, was the one who forged the path, while vivec has rediscovered and repurposed it. the act of sharing the road means that it is able to be used without starting from scratch.
now, those who use it correctly can “irritate the sun with only a stick.” no grand gestures are necessary; an assassin can accomplish great change by simple acts. no need to use an army to topple a kingdom, when a well placed blade on a seemingly unimportant throat can do the trick. remember: even things that seem unimportant are at least important in some way, and chain reactions can get you very far.
as always,
The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

something like this
word count: 4078
[a/n] : im baaaaaaack. ok. started this on a whim and it kind of ended up being so long. sorryyyyy. anyways, this is my first scenario of 2019, the first of *hopefully* many to come. as always, i’ll be glad to hear your comments, just hit up my inbox! ps. if you guys reblog this don’t be shy to add something cute in the tags❤️❤️! alsoooo don’t forget to support ASTRO on their comeback guys!
The frozen yoghurt shop is unusually quiet today. It’s 1:32 pm and there’s only been 6 people in here. I check the containers, making sure the cubes of fruits are properly cooled. I wipe a few stray drops of yoghurt from the machine with a cloth and thoroughly rinse that too.
My co-worker, Kailo, looks up from her phone to ask me a question, “Hey, did you know that there’s a new flavour for toothpaste?”
I look at her, wildly amused. “No, I do not.”
Excitedly, she nudges up to my side and shoves her phone in my face.
“But please, enlighten me.” I deadpan, taking the phone from her. I can barely hide my disgust as I read the article. “Oh, that’s just very wrong.”
“Eh, I guess.” She shrugs one shoulder, back to scrolling through her daily newsfeed. That figures; Kailo is the kind of person that would come into work wearing the weirdest things and is still able to pull it off. She is very adventurous and likes trying new things. She told me she once tried kale ice cream and actually liked it.
The front doorbell tinkles, signalling a customer. Kailo takes her order, tapping at the computer screen. I grab a small cup and fill it with fresh frozen yoghurt, then with languid strokes, drizzle cookie sauce over the top and hand it to the customer with a napkin.
“Enjoy.” I offer a smile, handing her the yoghurt. The doorbell tinkles again and Moon Bin enters this time. He waves hi to both me and Kailo.
“Hey. Class finished?” I ask as he walks over to my side of the counter.
“Yeah,” He nods. He sighs. “I kind of need to talk to you about something.”
“Is everything okay?” I look at his expression. He briefly glances at Kailo.
“Not really.” He looks at the clock behind me. “Your shift ends at 2, right?” I nod.
“Then, I’ll just wait here for you.” He orders a medium sized yoghurt and takes his usual spot by the window at the very end of the room, like he always does when he comes here to wait for me. When I had just gotten this part time job, my manager, Sammy and Ji Ah, two other part time workers, and Kailo would always ask me if he was my boyfriend because sometimes if I worked the late night shift, he would swing by and wait for me until my shift ended. He would walk me back to campus then, making sure I safely gotten into my dorm.
They soon got used to me denying me and Moon Bin dating and stopped asking questions. Although Kailo occasionally comments on how she thinks he’s pretty hot. I teased her once about it, offering to help set her up with him and her exact answer was, “Honey, please, he’s not my type.”
I’m pretty sure she doesn’t mean it in a bad way. It’s just he’s really not her type. She usually dates really quickly and the longest I’ve ever her date was with a guy who had his own pet hedgehog. To think of it, I’m not even sure what her type is.
The two hours tick by, with a large group of sleep deprived students walking in and demanding we serve them coffee in between, until I pointed out that the cafe is next door. They eventually ordered frozen yoghurts, apparently too tired to even walk to next door. Sammy enters just in time, to take over my shift.
She clocks in on Moon Bin immediately and then gives me a knowing look.
“Honestly.” I shake my head. Sammy is the only who won’t stop pushing me and Moon Bin together. Sammy has classes with the both of us so she knows Moon Bin as well.
I clock out and grab my staff from the back. Moon Bin is already standing by the counter, waiting for me as I come out from the back. We go outside, the heat of the afternoon blasting from the ground.
“So, what’s wrong?” I ask, as we come to a bench under a shady tree. I’m still in my white cotton collar shirt which is the uniform and am sweating down my back. Moon Bin notices my discomfort.
“D'you want to go home and change first?” He asks.
“No, it’s fine, don’t worry.” I shake my head. “What’s up?”
“You know the show I have to do next Friday?” He says. I nod in response. “Yeah, that’s also the same day my parents are coming to see me.” He waits for the ball to drop.
“Oh. Oh.” I raise my eyebrows in realisation. Moon Bin’s dad doesn’t know that he is enrolled in the Performing Arts Major. His dad wasn’t really supportive of his choice but his mom covered for him and then told him to choose whatever he wanted. If they come this Friday…
“Yup.” He nods gloomily.
“Well, your performance is at night. Maybe they’ll have left by then?” I suggest.
“I…I want to tell him.” He exhales.
“What?”
“I don’t want to lie to him anymore.” He says, turning to me. “I keep having to think of answers to questions about aerospace.” He looks so positively terrified. In spite of myself, I give a small laugh.
“That’s what you told him you were studying?”
“I panicked.” He says defensively.
“Bin, I think that it’s great that you want to tell him the truth but are you sure?” I ask him.
He looks down at his fists. “Yeah. I’m sure.”
“Well, okay then,” I bump my fist at his arm. “I have your back. If there’s anything you need me to do, just tell me.” I smile at him.
We move on from this subject and talk about how rehearsals are going. He digs out the tickets from his pocket and hands them to me, one for me, the other for Sammy, my roommate and Jin Woo’s girlfriend.
“Don’t lose them. You know what, just ask Sammy to take them.” Moon Bin has zero trust in me.
I roll my eyes. “Just because that one time I lost the train tickets–”
“And we had to run all the way back because you’d lost yours and everyone had to re-buy their tickets for the later train.” He reminds me darkly.
Ignoring his words, I tell him that I’ll keep them safe no matter what. It’s his first performance with his parents there, I’m definitely not missing this for anything in the world.
*** “That will be all today. Thank you class.” Our lecturer switches off her slide and packs her laptop up all in one swift movement. Everyone else is either leaving the class or talking to their friends. I check my phone, slightly frowning. Why isn’t he replying?
I flop my bag on the desk, putting my notebook and textbook inside. I check my phone one last time before shoving it in my jacket pocket. As I walk along the hall, passing some students taping a poster on the wall, I spot Rocky and Jin Woo among the crowd.
“Hey, guys,” I catch up to them. They turn, surprised.
“Hey,” They both say, smiling.
They should know where Moon Bin is. “Do you know where Bin is?” I ask. “He didn’t come to class today. And I can’t get hold of him either.”
Rocky glances at Jin Woo before answering. “Oh, he’s probably practising again.”
“Um, see the thing is,” Jin Woo sighs. “He hasn’t stopped since 3 in the morning.”
“What?” My tone is sharp and the two guys in front of me visibly straightens up. “He hasn’t slept?”
Rocky winces. “We rehearsed last night and finished at 10. We went back to the dorm at 10:30–”
“He went out at 3 in the morning to practise by himself again.” Jin Woo explains.
“So, technically, he did sleep for about 4 hours–” Rocky stops when Jin Woo nudges him. I sigh.
“It’s his dad, isn’t it?” I look at them. They both nod slowly.
“He was really stressed out before and now he’s even more stressed than ever.” Rocky says.
“Maybe you should go talk to him. At least get him to stop for a few hours to get some rest.”
They tell me which of the building to go to and what practice room he is in. Two girls and a guy look at me suspiciously as I walk down the corridor blindly before finally giving up and asking them for directions. Standing outside the door, I can hear the thump of the music and someone’s feet moving rapidly. They don’t stop even when I knock on the door.
Moon Bin finally looks up as I enter the room. “Ae Ra.” He stops dancing. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to check up on you.” I say. I watch as he turns off the speaker and plops down on the floor, exhausted. I grab his towel from a chair nearby and toss it at him, landing on his head.
“Bin–” I start, sitting down in front of him. He wipes at his face, refusing to look at me.
“I know, you want me to get some rest. But the show is two days away. I can’t afford to waste any time.” He finally says, lowering his head while fidgeting with the corner of the towel.
“You’re exhausted, Bin.” I say. “Did you even eat breakfast?”
When he looks back at me, his eyes wet around the rim. “I’m just so scared.” He says. “I mean, it’s my dad. He’s never approved of my interest in performing on stage, says it’s a waste of money.
How am I going to impress him, Aera?” His voice cracks slightly. I scoot closer to him to hug him. He leans his head on my shoulder, taking a deep breath.
“You don’t have to impress him, you know?” I say softly. “Just show him what you can do. You may disagree on somethings but in the end you’re his son, he’ll love you no matter what.” I pat his hair, slick with sweat, wince a little and try to discreetly wipe it on my pants. He gives a soft chuckle.
“I can see you through the mirror.”
“You’re disgusting. Please go take a shower.” I deadpan. He laughs as we pull apart.
“Thank you. You seem to always find the right things to say.”
“What? Like asking you to take a shower?” I joke.
He chuckles and absentmindedly pecks the top of my forehead. I stare at him, startled by this out of the blue yet affectionate action. His eyes shift; contemplating something. He slowly leans in and to my surprise, I do too.
“HEY BIN–” Our lips barely touch when Rocky bursts through the door. We pull away with the urgency of a dog chasing after a cat. Rocky stares at us, speechless.
I stand up abruptly. “I have-have a, um, shift.” I say to no one in particular. “So I, yeah, um, okay, byeeee.” Shit, I sound like Jake Peralta. But there’s no time to dwell on that as I leave the room at top speed. I’m so concentrated on leaving that I almost knock down Sammy by the stairs.
“Woah, hey,” She says. “Have you seen Jin Woo?”
“Uh, um,” I clear my head, trying to think of an answer. “No.”
“Oh-kay,” She frowns. “Are you alright?”
“Me? Yeah, yeah, totally fine.” I swallow. “Listen, I gotta go. I have….a class.”
I scurry down the stairs and out of the building. I walk and walk with no actual sense of direction. Walking keeps me occupied. If I stop, I keep thinking of…that. Eventually, my legs tire out and I plop down on a bench. How did that happen? My face heats up even at just the thought of it and despite myself, I feel a bit giggly on the inside. He’s my friend! I shouldn’t be having thoughts like this.
We barely talk on the phone, our usual routine, for the next few days until the show. I’d like to say it’s mainly because he’s busy practising and I’m busy with my shifts and assignments. We do text back and forth, but avoid talking about what happened. Texting is easier, because we don’t sound awkward at all. We still sound the same, playful banter, some nagging.
“Lighten up.” Kailo hisses at me. I’m slumped behind the counter, playing with a plastic spoon. The doorbell rings and a couple of people walk in chattering. I get up from my seat and grab a cone to fill. I drizzle cranberry sauce on it and wrap a napkin around half the cone before handing it to the customer.
After giving the customer her change, Kailo turns to survey me. “What’s up with you?”
“Nothing. Assignments,” I reply automatically, back in my slump seat.
“Something happened with Moon Bin?”
I sit up, alert and suspicious. “How did you know?”
She puts up both of her hands, her eyes wide. “I didn’t. I guessed.” She says.
“Oh.” I mumble.
She looks at me. “Whatever it is, it’ll eventually work its way out.”
I wince. “I’m not so sure about this.” She moves her attention away from me when the doorbell tinkles. She urgently nudges my arm and I’m about to give her an annoyed look when I see the people standing in front of me: Moon Bin and his parents.
I scramble up, face red and unable to look at anything except for the countertop. I can feel Moon Bin’s eyes on me but I resolutely stare at the cup and cone model that shows our customers what the different cup sizes look like. I start making their orders, three cones. As I hand it over to them, I smile politely at his parents; over the five years I’ve known him, I’ve seen his mother more than his father. I surreptitiously glance at his dad’s expression, which is hard and realise he must have told him already.
As they leave to take a seat, I grab my phone. There are 5 unread messages all from him.
‘I’m having lunch with them now.’
‘Probably going to tell him now.’
‘Going to find somewhere to talk.’
'Headed to the yoghurt shop.’
'You busy?’
These were all sent before they came here.
I look at them talking by the window. It seems like Moon Bin has got everything under control, although his father doesn’t look too happy. I look worriedly in the direction of the washroom; Kailo’s been in there for a long time. As they get up to leave, I shoot a questioning glance at Moon Bin, who nods slightly at me.
I don’t really understand but it must mean that his dad is willing to give him a chance. Kailo emerges from the washroom looking pale with one hand clutching her stomach.
“Kailo! Are you okay?”
“Ohhh, I think something went wrong with my lunch.” She sits down heavily. Her expression is pained as she drinks from her water bottle.
“What did you have?” I ask.
“Sushi.” She pauses as her stomach makes a weird sound. I offer to go the pharmacy to buy some medicine but she shakes her head, saying it’s all out of her system. That doesn’t seem to be the case even after two hours, I’ve been manning the cash register and making the orders for the customers while she sits weakly behind the counter, out of sight from customers.
“Kailo, I think you need to go to a clinic.” I frown, getting her a cup of warm water. Her hair plastered to her forehead from all the cold sweat.
“But, you have to leave soon and if I do too, no one is going to be here.”
I check the time. The show starts at 7. If Ji Ah makes it here by 8, I can still make it. “I can stay until Ji Ah comes. Just go to the clinic Kailo.”
She doesn’t even bothering protesting anymore. Before leaving, she gives me an apologetic hug. I tell her to tell me when she’s at the doctors to be safe. I look at the clock. I won’t have time to go home and change now. Business is slow between dinner hours so there’s really nothing much I can do, except pray that Ji Ah arrives here as soon as possible.
8:11 p.m. I am about to scratch the walls with frustration. Where is Ji Ah? I text Sammy to check if Moon Bin, Jin Woo and Rocky has performed yet.
'Almost. Where R U???’
I sigh and shoot off a quick reply. Ji Ah rushes through the door, out of breath. “Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry.”
“Okay, I’ve got to go, bye!” I’ve been ready ever since 7:45 so I just grab my bag and hurry out the door. Sammy comes out to meet me when I arrive at the auditorium. She grabs my hand, pulling me inside. We pass rows and rows of seats in the darkness. I glance briefly at the stage just as the three of them emerge on stage. The music starts as I take my seat, trying to catch my breath. Moon Bin’s eyes flicker towards the crowd and then spots me. He gives the smallest smile and then resumes his performance.
The three of them work in perfect harmony, moving to each beat. I look around and see his parents a few rows over. His mother looks positively proud while his dad leans back against his seat, an unreadable expression on his face. The audience gives a loud cheer when Rocky does a spin mid-air, earning a bashful smile from him.
The performance ends with the crowd hyped up. After two vocal performances and a small skit, the show ends. There’s the sound of people talking and feet shuffling as they get ready to leave. Sammy and I make our way out and manage to find our way to backstage. We find the guys, with three of their other friends, Sanha, Eun Woo and MJ already with them.
“You guys were awesome!” I say, while Sammy gives them the thumbs up.
“I honestly thought I was going to trip and fall at one point.” Rocky says.
“That’s because you almost stepped on my foot.” Jin Woo shakes his head. As they bicker on, Moon Bin’s focus shifts to behind us; his parents. He excuses himself to walk over to them. We move farther away so as to give me some privacy in all the hubbub at backstage. MJ starts showing them the video he took of them on stage.
“That’s so unflattering.” Sanha comments. He whips out his phone. “You should look at the one I took.” They argue who recorded the best video with Jin Jin exasperatedly chiming in to say at one point, “None of you are Steven Spielberg. None.” and Rocky saying, “You should’ve taken it from my left.”
I look away from their tirade as Moon Bin hugs both of his parents, who leaves and walks toward us, a look of relief on his face. “Everything okay?” I ask, as he nears. Everyone turns their attention to him.
“Yeah,” He exhales a little shakily. He gives a smile. “He doesn’t get the dancing.” We pause, unsure how to response.
“And you’re smiling because…?” Eun Woo asks.
“Because he said I could continue my major, even though he didn’t understand it.” He gives a small laugh. “He’s letting me stay on!” We cheer, hugging him all at once, ignorant to the other looks in the room.
My phone vibrates a message from Kailo who tells me she’s at home now. I see another one from her when she was at the doctors. I tell them I’m going out to make a call where it’s quieter so I can actually hear what someone is saying.
“Hey, are you feeling better?” I ask. “What did the doctor say?”
“I’m feeling sooo much better now.” Kailo’s voice, although not yet back to her normal tone was sounding much more alert than a few hours ago. “It turns I have a very weak intestine and I’m technically not allowed to eat anymore raw fish.”
“I told you, 'Fish are friends not food’.” I quote 'Finding Nemo’ to her.
“That’s just because you don’t eat raw fish.” She says. “Say that again when you’re eating battered cod with chips. Maybe then I’ll believe you.”
She yawns and I tell her to go to bed. She says she will but not before watching an episode of Kim’s Convenience. I hang up, turning to go back inside when I see Moon Bin waiting for me.
“Where are the others?” I walk up to him.
“They went to celebrate. I told them to go ahead first.” Moon Bin says.
“Oh.” Awkward silence. Not wanting to feel weird around him, I hold up my phone.
“I just got off the phone with Kailo. She was feeling unwell just now. Ate some sushi. She had to go to the doctors and there was not anyone to stay at the shop. That was why I was late to the show.”
He lets out a breath that I didn’t know he was holding. “Oh. That’s why.” He scratches his neck. “I thought you weren’t going to come.”
“Why would you think–” I pause as realisation hits me. “Oh.”
“Is she feeling better?” I look up at him, confused, then realise he means Kailo.
“Yeah. She’s okay now.” I nod. There’s another pause where neither of us says anything, then as if he can’t stand it, he says, “Should we talk about what happened the other day?”
I bite the inside of my cheek. “Yeah, I think we should.”
We walk around, finding some place to sit, heading towards the campus park. Not for the first time ever, I marvel at the size of this entire university. It’s like a small village could literally just live here. We walk along the path, lined with small grey pebbles and small lights installed on the ground, so that it looks like one of those airplane runways.
“So, I guess I should apologise first.” Moon Bin says, as we take a seat on one of the park benches.
I open my mouth to protest but he stops me. “Just–let me finish.
What happened the other day. I shouldn’t have done it. I was feeling helpless and you were there as a friend and I shouldn’t have kissed you,” He continues. “That wasn’t how I…” He trails off.
“You what?” I ask, catching his hesitation.
“It wasn’t how I…,” He scratches his neck again, an action he does when he’s embarrassed. “…imagined I would kiss you. Not in that situation.”
I stare at him dumbly, too stunned to speak. There’s so many parts to his explanation that needs more explaining.
“I-I….” I swallow. “Um, okay.”
He lets me take my time, albeit the concerned look on his face is kind of endearing. “Moon Bin, what do you mean it was how you imagined?”
“Oh. That.” He says, as if he hadn’t thought of explaining that part to me. “Um, see, I kind of, really like you.” He fixes his eyes on mine. I think I can fully comprehend what the phrase 'heart beating against ribcage like a freaking earthquake’.
“Well,” I find my voice again. “In what situation would you have wanted to…kiss me?”
He gives the cutest/ most bashful smile ever and leans in to peck me on my lips. “Something like this?”
In spite of myself, I smile, feeling giddy. “Could you do that again?”
He smiles, leaning in again but this time I do too. This kiss lasts longer than the former and when it ends, he gently kisses my forehead. “Thank you.” He chuckles softly that my heart does a small skip.
“For what?” I laugh, even if it isn’t that funny.
“Just.” He shrugs. “Thank you.”
“You know, if you’re trying to be all mysterious and romantic like in dramas and stuff, it really isn’t going to work on me, because I won’t understand a thing you’re doing.” I joke, smiling.
You just never know when you’re going to open your eyes and fall for someone who’s been by your side this entire time.

Kousuke in ch.63: w/Nol
So I’ve seen a decent amount of this floating around and just wanted to give my two cents on the matter. In summary, I think his behavior was problematic at times but not as bad as people are making it out to be.
I’m gonna break down my thoughts on his interactions with Nol, mainly: (1) Kousuke blaming Nol, (2) him not interfering with the arrest and in a separate post bc this got way too long: (3) his talk with Shin ae at the hospital.
This gets a bit long with the screenshots and all so under the cut it goes!
First, Kousuke blaming Nol
So I have seen a lot of hate for this and it’s understandable considering we readers already feel so bad for Nol and know it was not really in his control, so of course people are gonna bare fangs at anyone who yells at him. But still, I think Kousuke should be cut a little slack.
This is right before Kousuke starts yelling and its the most harrowed we’ve ever seen him. Someone he cares for is possibly seriously hurt and going to the hospital, his mom is being totally embarrassed and humiliated (yeah I know the readers probably don't give a flying fuck but come on, it’s his mom), his father is witnessing the whole kerfuffle and a huge scene is being made out of the family which is something Kousuke has been shown to be worried about way back in the beginning. He is probably stressed out beyond belief, but what he is the most concerned about is Shin ae (obviously).
So he is mad at Nol for dropping them. And that kinda makes sense? Like we know that Nol was traumatized by Mrs. Hirahara which is why he just let go instinctively but that’s not what Kousuke saw. From his perspective, Nol is having some trouble pulling them up but he’s managing to at least hold them in place. Kousuke hears him asking for help and Mrs. Hirahara offering assistance and then Nol lets go. That’s it. His hand didn’t slip. There was no “Oh no I can’t hold on!” or “You’re slippling!” From Kousuke’s point of view, Nol literally just let go for no apparent reason, letting them both fall, resulting in Shin ae hitting her head and passing out. So yeah he’s mad.
Kousuke thinks Nol might have let go because of their bad relationship, though even he thinks that’s ridiculous based on how he says it. Like he didn’t expect Nol to do something like that, but in truth, he knows he probably doesn’t know Nol that well, and the fact is Nol did let go so there must have been some reason for him to go all ‘long live the king’ on him.
Would it have been better if Kousuke actually asked Nol why he let go and talked to him about it? Sure. But as stated before, the situation is crazy. There’s a lot going on, he wants to get to the hospital asap, and at the end of the day, these two brothers don’t have a good relationship so coddling Nol isn’t exactly on the top of his priority list. (If he was a better brother then maybe he would have given him the benefit of the doubt, but alas, they are not there yet).
Okay now this, I did really have a problem with. Though from Kousuke’s point of view, Nol letting go did play a role in Shin ae getting injured, he also knows that her being drunk/drugged and fighting the mom, etc. is also to blame for her falling into the pool in the first place. So saying its “ALL thanks to you” is not right. However, I think from a story standpoint I know why that line was included. A big part of this chapter was a Nol guilt-fest. As we could tell from his face, Nol already felt guilty and what everyone else said just rubbed it in. In this webtoon we only get Shin ae’s thoughts conveyed in words, so in order to show Nol’s guilt in future chapters I’m pretty sure that he’s going to flashback to the its ‘all thanks to you’ line. So in my opinion, that line is serving more of a plot device role than much of a reflection of Kousuke’s thoughts and character.
What’s also worth noting is that Kouskue isn’t mad at Nol for dropping him into the pool. He’s mad because Shin ae was hurt. We don’t usually get to see Kousuke getting emotional, so this anger at Nol is also indirectly conveying how concerned he is for Shin ae, furthering the idea that he cares about her (let us not forget that this is a love triangle). If someone you care about gets hurt, it’s natural to get angry at whatever is to blame. Is Kousuke mad at his mom and Sang chul? Probably. But in this moment, Nol is also to blame and he’s the one standing beside him. So it sucked that Nol had to get yelled at like that because he doesn’t deserve it, but that was a pretty human reaction from Kousuke. It wasn’t Kousuke just deliberately being mean to Nol.
Okay that was long but I promise the next part is shorter.
So onto Kousuke not trying to stop Nol from getting arrested.
As a sort of aside, it seems like the arrest happened pretty quickly tbh. It was basically ‘you’re under arrest-suspicious vial-get in the car’. Kousuke had already started walking away and maybe there just wasn’t any chance to interject. But even if he could have, that still doesn’t mean Kousuke is a horrible person for not doing so.
Firstly, he may have thought there was no point in trying at that time. Many people saw Nol drop them, and he probably heard them talking about calling the cops on him. So he probably knew that in the situation they were in with all the other witnesses, he didn’t have a good chance of convincing the cop to stop. It would just be making an even bigger scene that amounts to nothing.
Also, there is still a chance that Kosuke is going to help Nol later on. As we saw back in the chapter in the mall where the lady threw soda at Shin ae, Kousuke is not one to get involved in the most direct way. Back in that chapter, Nol directly went up to Shin ae and the kid to help. Conversely, Kousuke reported the lady to security and bought Shin ae a new shirt. Two different ways of approaching the same situation. I feel that Kousuke may do something similar here. He didn’t directly go and try to stop the cop, but later he may go through alternative routes to get Nol out, especially after he can gather some more information on everything that happened.
So quimchee draws particular attention to Kousuke’s reaction to Nol getting arrested here. His expressions can be difficult to read, especially since as he said himself his natural face is basically a scowl, so some people might see this as a dismissive face. But personally, I think it might be showing that he’s thinking. Maybe he’s like ‘okay I was mad but I didn’t want him to go jail, yeesh’ or it could be him regretting blaming Nol like he did. Or it could be him filing this as something to address later, because getting to the hospital is his top priority but this Nol-going-to-jail thing isn’t something he’s going to just ignore. We’ll have to wait and see I guess.
That’s it for Kousuke and Nol, now onto --> Kousuke’s behavior with Shin ae at the hospital... -->
I know this got insanely long, but I just have a lot of thoughts and wanted everything to be explained as clearly as possible. I hope it didn’t seem too bias and made logical sense. If you agree or respectfully disagree feel free to message me about it. I’d love to talk about anything I Love Yoo related :D

‘Marvelous’ Season Premiere Recap: “In Somnis Veritas”
December 12, 2017. 6:52 AM PST.
SPOILER ALERT! This post contains plot details from the Marvelous season four premiere, “In Somnis Veritas,” below.
In somnis veritas. “In dreams there is truth.”
And the truth is? We have no idea what these dreams are supposed to mean.
During AE!’s exclusive on-set interviews with the cast of Marvelous last month, Steve Rogers (playing the Captain) shared that the Season 4 premiere would be entirely centered around the concept of dreams. “There are really low points but there are really high points, too,” Rogers had dished, “and it’s just one of those things you know will have that punch and then keep on punching.” But tell us, Captain: when do the punches stop? It’s hard enough to riddle out which dreams and nightmares from last night’s episode are foreshadowing and which ones are just plain teasing! The last thing we need is to know that there are still more hits coming our way.
But we should probably be used to that by now, right?
Another thing we’re used to? Spending the entire week after an episode trying to dissect what the heck we just watched.
In the months between the surprise Season 4 teaser trailer that dropped on The Late Night Show and last night’s premiere, the cast had teased that this season will bring happier days back to our heroes. And while that’s definitely what we thought of during last night’s dream sequences, what does that say about the nightmares?

‘Marvelous’ Season Premiere Recap: “In Somnis Veritas” (continued)
December 12, 2017. 6:52 AM PST.
Last night’s premiere hits the ground running with its theme around dreams: the episode opens with a beautiful shot of an outdoor wedding, complete with white petals on the ground and everyone decked out in suits and pastel dresses. Everything is bright and ethereal, vaguely eerie version of the wedding march playing as the camera pans over the audience until finally settling on the face of the bride: Black Widow. Big shocker there. Even less of a shocker? Her groom, standing under the floral arch: the Captain.
We all knew this was coming. Did it make us any less emotional as we watched the Captain and Widow hold hands and recite vows in front of the crying faces of their loved ones?
Absolutely not.
But just as the Captain peels back her veil for a kiss, we cut to a very grim version of the same scene: it’s nighttime now, with the chairs empty and strewn across the grass, and Widow’s beautiful wedding dress is now torn and covered in blood. Widow repeats her vows, but this time as she recites, “until death do us part,” the vaguely eerie music comes to a stop - and then the Captain bolts upright in his chair. He’d been in the infirmary the whole time, having fallen asleep at Widow’s bedside. She gives him a sad smile and asks if he’s alright, and, in true Captain fashion, he dodges the question altogether and checks on her vitals. He tries to rush off, but Widow gets up to stop him and asks him to stay, and the Captain hesitates before kissing her forehead and promising that he won’t leave.
Meanwhile, we find Thor beating the crap out of a punching bag in the gym. There are flashes back to the scene of his powers getting stripped from him from last season’s finale, his punches getting progressively harder as he relives the memory... and then it gets worse: Agent Hill comes up behind him, touching his shoulder in an attempt to get his attention, but in a flash, Thor has his hands around her throat. The buzz of electricity can be heard as the lights of the training room flicker, and Agent Hill seems oddly calm considering she’s being choked to death, which seems to clue Thor in: he realizes he’s punched the bag straight off of the chain during his dream (nightmare?) and the real Agent Hill is standing unharmed beside him as she gives him a status update: Widow’s memories are still gone, Hawkeye is still out cold, Scarlet Witch is still missing. But he’s only half-listening. He flexes his fingers (yup, powers still gone) and stares at Agent Hill’s neck, terror written all over his face.
Agent Hill asks what’s wrong, but of course, before he can answer, they’re interrupted by a commotion passing through the hallway: Agent 13 and Quicksilver are back with Iron Man, and he’s looking pretty worse for wear.

Access Entertainment! Exclusive Preview: The Late Night Show Just Got a Little More Marvelous
December 5, 2017. 2:51 PM PST.
The last time that the stunning Natasha Romanoff was in New York to chat with Peter Quill on The Late Night Show, we expected Quill to give us the scoop on Romanoff’s cozy Hawaiian vacation with her fellow Marvelous co-star, Steve Rogers, which had us all swooning over our screens this summer. But of course, Romanoff dodged the interrogation in true Black Widow fashion: with a charming smile and a downright dirty seduction tactic in the form of a Marvelous teaser trailer, dropping an entire week earlier than scheduled.
Well played, Miss Romanoff. Well played.
Fast-forward two months later, just hours before Romanoff was scheduled to appear to tape her slot in tonight’s show, Quill tweeted about being more determined than ever to squeeze out the juicy details about Romanoff’s and Rogers’ Hawaiian getaway. But Romanoff still had more tricks up her sleeve: the audience cheered as Quill announces her arrival... and then promptly went into hysterics at the sight of her head of blonde hair!
Yes, you read that right: the infamous Black Widow is now blonde, and we’re still not sure how we feel about it. Romanoff looked every bit as stunning as we know her to be, but her fiery hair has been such an iconic feature of hers that we’re a little sad to see that it’s gone.
At least, for now it is. “You’ll see,” Romanoff answered cryptically when Quill bemoaned her new color and asked what brought on the change. “It’s a plot thing. Nick and I agreed a wig didn’t do the trick, so the red had to go. But I promise you, it’ll be back. It’ll definitely be back. I miss it already!”
We do, too, and we’re certain Romanoff’s new fiance must feel the same. Rogers has never been shy to voice how much he loved Romanoff’s bold hair color, having done so on social media on numerous occasions, long before the pair had started dating. A fact that was pretty much known following the intimate photos of the two out and about around Maui this past summer, but something neither outright confirmed until Romanoff’s twenty-ninth birthday just a couple weeks ago, when the couple took to Instagram to announce their engagement. Rogers proposed to Romanoff down on one knee at the birthday party the cast and crew had put together for her, and, in his Tweet congratulating the couple, fellow Marvelous co-star Clint Barton shared that, “it took a while for them to come back up for air.”
(Related: ‘Marvelous’ Tribute Video for Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers’ Engagement Sends the Whole Cast Into Tears)
There’s no doubting that Romanoff could show up in neon pink hair and still look stunning, and Rogers would still be just as head-over-heels for her, a fact that Quill was quick to point it out.
“He better,” Romanoff teased with a bright smile. “And technically he proposed to me twice, so he has to wait for another strike before calling anything off.”
Wait, what?
“He did, he did,” Romanoff laughed when Quill asked if this was true. “He technically proposed to me in Hawaii, except he was really just asking if we wanted to officially ‘date.’ It just didn’t seem like a significant enough term and we kind of joked about it. We were like, ‘is it just dating when we know so much about each other?’ We’ve spent three years together at this point and dating wasn’t going to just wipe us clean of our friendship, so why give it such a vague title? So he went straight to a proposal. And I said yes.”
Want to hear more? We certainly do!
Be sure join us in watching the full interview on The Late Night Show as Natasha Romanoff dishes more about about her Hawaiian vacation, previews the Marvelous cast’s January cover shoot for Infinity magazine, and addresses rumors of being cast in Disney’s latest live-action fairy tale remake.

‘Marvelous’ Season Premiere Recap: “In Somnis Veritas” (continued)
December 12, 2017. 6:52 AM PST.
As Iron Man gets rushed into medical, Quicksilver explains the fight with Ultron from that ended in Iron Man barely hanging onto consciousness as they rushed to get him back, while Agent Hill shares how Hawkeye ended up in a coma and how Widow nearly bled to death. Then comes the worst part: Scarlet Witch is missing, and there’s been nothing but radio silence from Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Quicksilver - who had been vocal in his protest to let his sister go off without him - shouts at Agent Hill, ranting angrily, only to storm off when Thor steps in. Agent Hill then shares the news about Widow’s memories and Agent 13 snaps, nearly hitting Agent Hill when she hurls Iron Man’s broken at the wall and then storms off. Thor warily asks how Agent Hill is holding up, but she simply shrugs it off and goes after Agent 13 to comfort her, and elsewhere, Captain runs into Quicksilver and quickly does the same.
(Related: The Cast of Marvelous Get Dolled Up and Down & Dirty for Their Infinity Magazine Cover Shoot)
If you think things might’ve magically gotten better for our favorite little witch since the finale, then you were mistaken: the first glimpse we get of Scarlet Witch is her sprawled out on the floor. There are indistinct voices and sounds and sights blurring in and out as she struggles to wake up, but then the Winter Soldier’s suddenly comes into focus at her side as he brushes her hair from her face. She’s confused - just as much as we are - and then the scene shifts into another dream sequence with more ethereal lighting and happy yet eerie instrumentals. Scarlet Witch lays on the floor of a gorgeous bathroom, but this time she’s smiling and holding onto a positive pregnancy test (gasp!) as a clean-cut Winter Soldier hovers over her again. Scarlet Witch tells him that “this changes everything,” to which the Winter Soldier reassures her that she can handle it.
With that sentiment still echoing, we shift back to a battered Scarlet Witch still on the floor, with the hallucination of Winter Soldier encouraging her to get up - and so she does. She takes in her surroundings: she’s in some kind of holding cell in the middle of lab with scientists and armed guards everywhere. When she looks down at her arms, she sees marks all over herself as blurry memories of the experimentation flash. Before she can freak out even more, however, a scientist crouches beside her and, predictably, he launches into a creepy story of how he’s waited to get his hands on her and how she has so much beautiful potential. She doesn’t say a word, but like any evil villain, he shares his plot anyway: he wants to bring the world to their knees, and she’s been the missing piece of his equation.
Outside in the snow, Falcon and the Winter Soldier are still right where we left them on a snowy mountainside, but at least they’ve stopped throwing punches at this point. Falcon is working to get a connection going to call the others for back-up as the Winter Soldier attempts to figure out where the hidden lab might be. It only takes a minute and a half (yes, we counted) for the tense silence to diverge into more arguing, but at least this time it ends in a mutual agreement on what direction they need to head in.

INT. SUBURBAN HOUSE - BLACK WIDOW DREAM - CONTINUOUS
Black Widow blinks, smiling, but not knowing exactly why as she walks down the hallway. She takes her time looking at the pictures on the wall: her and Captain at birthday parties, picnics, restaurants... and the end: her in a wedding dress -- from Captain’s dream sequence. She pauses, noticing that this isn’t a picture but an oil painting. But who painted this...
CAPTAIN (O.S.) Love? You home?
Black Widow follows the sound of rustling bags into the kitchen. Captain manages to set multiple bags of groceries on the counter, albeit struggling a little.
BLACK WIDOW (with a teasing smirk) Didn’t feel like asking for help?
CAPTAIN (returning her teasing) Nah. Didn’t need to bother you when I’ve got it handled.
BLACK WIDOW Or maybe you just don’t need me?
Captain flinches as if slapped, Black Widow’s smile fades a little, not expecting the reaction. Something feels off...
CAPTAIN I always need you. I’ve always needed you.
BLACK WIDOW I know.
CAPTAIN Do you?
Their eyes meet -- Captain’s fill with emotion, overwhelming Black Widow. Maintaining eye contact becomes too much. She rushes to him, pulls him into a hug.
CAPTAIN Sometimes I think you don’t. That I don’t tell you enough.
Black Widow finds this so absurd that she laughs, tearing up, squeezing onto him tighter.
BLACK WIDOW So tell me now.
Captain laughs too, and it sounds like relief. In a flash he’s lifting her up and setting her on the counter, pulling her close again. They gaze into each other’s eyes, not saying anything. It’s enough -- it always is -- but in this moment, they both need more...

INT. FACILITY - INFIRMARY ROOM
Captain slightly stumbles on his way into the room, looking distraught. Black Widow starts to get up from bed but he’s at her side and urging her to stay put.
BLACK WIDOW (looking past Captain at the door) What’s going on? (then, looking at him, growing more concerned at what she sees) Are you alright?
Captain laughs, hallow and almost hysterical.
CAPTAIN No. (he blinks, surprised by his own honesty, then continues on before he can talk himself out of it) The people most important to me are fighting, or missing, or dying. And I can’t do a thing. Not a goddamn thing.
Black Widow puts her hand on his face, making him meet her eyes. She wants to reassure him, but the heartbreak she sees makes her stop short. His stare is intense -- intensely lost -- and she feels connected to his pain. She hurts just like him.
CAPTAIN Thank you.
BLACK WIDOW (blinking, tearing up) For what?
CAPTAIN For not saying it’ll be alright. You never lied to me before. Even when you’re not mine, you still know what to say, or not say.
BLACK WIDOW I was yours?
CAPTAIN (swallowing, visibly fighting to not look away) Yeah, I think so.

CAPTAIN Better than I am. But that’s nothing new. (he’s half-joking, then shrugs as he genuinely considers) It’s a shock to her. Last thing she clearly remembers is the Red Room. The rest is a blur.
Thor exhales, letting the weight of this settle. Half a decade of memories gone -- he can’t begin to imagine how that affects her, and Captain. He tries to find the right thing to say, but Captain speaks first.

THOR Barely. The whiskey is helping.

‘Marvelous’ Season Premiere Recap: “In Somnis Veritas” (continued)
December 12, 2017. 6:52 AM PST.
Back at the Facility, the Captain, Agent Hill, Agent 13, Thor, and Quicksilver are gathered in the hallway just outside the infirmary wing. Black Widow is sitting in her bed, not at all pretending to be reading rather than eavesdropping as they try to make sense of the turn of events that left the Team in shambles. But they end up with more questions than answers: How could anything drain Thor of his powers, and why? What was so important about the truck Iron Man tracked down that he intercepted it without a plan? What epiphany did Hawkeye have before he chased after Widow and ended up in a coma? Are Widow’s memories gone for good? And where the heck are Scarlet Witch, Falcon, and the Winter Soldier right now?
The conversation (understandably) grows frustrated, but now Black Widow isn’t paying attention. Exhaustion is taking over, and she feels herself drifting out until she finally gets pulled into a daydream: she finds herself in a cookie-cutter suburban house, walking down a hallway lined with frames. She and Captain are in all of the photos being displayed, carefree and happy, and the frame at the end displays an oil painting of Widow in a wedding dress. (The same one from Captain’s dream sequence, to be specific. Coincidence? Not at all.) Then, when someone calls for her, she walks into the kitchen to find Captain carrying a mass of groceries. She teases him about not needing her, but the joke falls flat, and, oh look, there’s that creepy, eerie music again. Captain assures that he does need her and he doesn’t tell her enough, and we get the sense he’s not just talking about groceries. Widow comforts him, and then the dream shifts: same house, same kitchen, but this time Widow and Captain both walk in from the garage carrying groceries. Ah, lovely - positive paralleling. They set the groceries down and Captain hoists her onto the counter, and Widow puts a hand on his face as they gaze adoringly at each other before kissing.
And naturally, this is when Widow is woken up.
Captain looks troubled (obviously) as he walks back into her room, so much so that, rather than brushing it off, he shares with Widow how helpless he feels. Widow doesn’t say anything, but of course it’s enough. It always is with them. Captain thanks her for still being “his” and this catches Widow off-guard. She hadn’t realized that they were this intimate, but it seems like Captain finally has.
(Related: How Marvelous Creates “Chemistry” Through Costume Design)
Elsewhere in the Facility infirmary, Agent Hill and Agent 13 are seated by a still-out-cold Hawkeye‘s bedside, quietly continuing to puzzle everything out. What bothers them the most is figuring out what Iron Man was chasing after, though we know the truth: whatever it is that Hawkeye figured out was what he told Iron Man to investigate while Hakweye went after Widow so he could bring her back home and clear her name. Because of course Hakweye knew the real reason behind her “betrayal”, too. What doesn’t this man know?
As Agent Hill and Agent 13′s voices fade away, we’re brought into yet another dream sequence: Hawkeye finds himself walking through a farm in the middle of nowhere, and it seems like even he doesn’t know what he’s doing there, but it’s oddly peaceful. A young girl and boy come running out of the house, laughing and playing an intense game of tag, and then shortly after a woman follows. Her attention is on the baby boy in her arms, her hair hiding her face, but all of the excited chatter coming from the kids becomes a blur of noise as the woman turns her head and we’re met with the face of the agent who left Iron Man for dead. Not that Hawkeye would know this. She touches his shoulder and leans in to kiss him, and when she pulls away, the kids are gone and they’re no longer on a farm. Instead they’re in the same warehouse where Hawkeye tracked Widow to, and the mystery woman is dressed in a black catsuit. She gives him a sweet smile, which is disturbing considering that the Captain is practically in hysterics over Widow’s body as she bleeds out on the floor.
The laughter of the kids can be heard again, the little girl exclaiming, “tag, you’re it!” just as the mystery woman’s smile takes on a sharp edge - and then Hawkeye wakes up. Agent Hill and Agent 13 are immediately at his side, but before they can begin to fuss over him, he says that he “knows what it is.” A man of few words, as always. Agent Hill tells him to lay back down and take it easy, but he goes on to say that he knows what was in that truck: weapons built with extraterrestrial technology, with the designs that had been stolen from him earlier in Season 3.
Yikes.
Meanwhile, back in the snowy mountains, we see Scarlet Witch struggling to stay upright and conscious on the floor as the red wisps of her energy start to materialize around her. The head evil scientist is still rambling, this time about explaining the grueling experiments he’s putting Scarlet Witch under, and that’s when she sees it in the corner of the room: the cube-shaped energy behind a glass containment unit, hooked up to the machine that the scientist is tinkering with. Her energy flares in alarm, which of course catches everyone’s attention. Guns are at the ready, but the scientist is unconcerned as he comes toward her with a tool Scarlet Witch has never seen before. (One of those weapons Hawkeye thought up, perhaps? Seems like a safe bet.)
The scientist grabs her arm, yanking her to her feet, but as soon as he points the tip of the strange instrument to her skin he’s blown back by a ripple of her energy. She flinches, stares down at her hands in surprise at the pain she feels from her own powers, but she isn’t given the time to ponder this: the guards are gathering around her with their guns aimed, shouting threats at her as she starts to gather her energy in her palms. The scientist stares at her in ominous fascination rather than terror, and the cube of energy starts to spark, seeming to react to her powers. The shouting escalates, until finally someone fires a shot - and in a blink, the cube of energy and Scarlet Witch’s energy explode as if detonated. The shot cuts to the laboratory from the outside as red energy bursts from within it, and from just up the mountain, we see Falcon and Winter Soldier watching as the building collapses. Sparks can be seen as everything is crumbling, and there’s a quick flash of Thor at the Facility, wincing in pain as the sparks grow more violent before fading, being absorbed by Scarlet Witch’s red energy. Thor nearly keels over, but the pain fades, replaced by frustration as he hurls the weight in his hand across the gym. He falls to his knees as he breathes heavily, and Agent Hill can be seen watching him from the door, a worried expression on her face.
Back on the mountain, we find Scarlet Witch completely untouched and laying on the snow, her red energy dissolving into the air after having protected her from the explosion. Falcon and Winter Soldier rush to her side, and after a quick check of her pulse, the two look at each other and look visibly relieved. Scarlet Witch’s eyes fly open the moment Winter Soldier touches her, but she eases all at once when she sees that it’s him, and he lifts her in his arms and tucks her to his chest as her body shakes. Scarlet Witch catches sight of her forearm as she’s being carried and immediately tenses when she notices that the fresh marks from the experiments have already significantly faded. She looks alarmed, and slightly terrified, and she catches a red spark from her fingertip before the screen cuts to black.

Elphelt Valentine: Bio & Trivia
==Elphelt Valentine==
"Family is... so wonderful!"
==Profile== Height: 5'6" Weight: Dreamy lbs (Unknown) Blood Type: Mysterious Birthplace: The Backyard Birthday: December 25 Eye Color: Sky Blue (formerly Emerald Green) Hobbies: Romantic Discussions, Pretending to be a Bush Dog Favorite Thing: Smiles, Sweets, Saving up for a Bush Dog Dislikes: Loneliness, Killing, Insects Weapon(s):
A Bouquet of flowers(?), Grenades, Magic Rifle, Magic Shotgun, Bazooka, Magnum Magic Rifle (Anti-Backyard Weaponry created from the Black Re-Tech Cyprus Project).
==Story (GGXrd Sign)==
<Unofficial Summary>
Originally Elphelt appeared in the Human World some time before Ramlethal Valentine did, and was given the orders to infiltrate among Humans, locate Sol Badguy, observe him, and see to it he did not awaken, while ensuring Justice could successfully be revived.
She was forbidden to Love other people, and yet somehow this conflicted with the idea of being connected with Humans. This conflict in logic 'overloaded' her basic personality and caused it to split, creating a new 'kinder' personality on the surface.
Her first actions were to try and marry a Rock Star, but because her Valentine programming activated, she scared the man she was going to marry right off the altar, leaving her behind in her wedding dress!
It was then that she realized she was a Valentine, and decided to use her powers to find anyone who could stop the Conclave's plans.
Fortunately, her newly awakened powers somehow put her in the custody of Ky Kiske, KING of Illyria!
==Story (GGXrd Revelator)==
<Unofficial Summary>
Despite her attempts to help save the world, Elphelt's original mind programming had activated upon Justice' partial-revival.
Though she managed to recover her memories of Sol Badguy and her other friends and her original personality, the process was very traumatic, and by the time she was able to become aware of what had fully happened, she was already captured by Ariels.
Bedman put her in a dream-world to prevent her from experiencing more emotional trauma, but this only confused her, and eventually she awoke to the truth of her situation:
...She was to become the Soul Core of Justice.
==Story (GGXrd Rev2 After Story A)==
<Unofficial Summary>
Thanks to everyone's efforts, Elphelt finally got a good night's rest in a fluffy bed!
After everything that happened, would people be willing to accept El and her sister?
The day's Newspaper seemed to be a flicker of HOPE for the future...
==Personality Profile==
An adorable young woman who is obsessed with improving her feminine charm. She loves animals and nature, and can't bear to see anyone alone. Elphelt will charge into any problem head-first, shielded by impenetrable optimism. Her efforts at improving the aforementioned charm, however, often fall short. If you start a conversation about love, she'll start talking and won't stop--often taking off into flights of slightly strange fantasy.
==Outline==
Elphelt is one of the Valentines created by the Universal Will, who she calls "Mother". Her mission is to assist Ramlethal in activating the Cradle, but unlike the other Valentines she appears to have human emotions. When those emotions awaken, she discovers a boundless compassion for humankind and finds herself at odds with her original mission. She chooses to find Ky Kiske and help him with his instead. Originally destined to marry a Death Metal singer, Elphelt discovered her true identity during the ceremony and fled. She still wears her wedding dress.
During the Cradle Incident, she lends her strength to Sol, but in the final moments, she loses all semblance of emotion and begins to execute her destiny, and everything around her. While Sol manages to wake her up, she is taken away by the Universal Will, to complete Justice.
==Movelist== ———————————Specials (Handgun Shot: press/mash Heavy-slash repeatedly) Bridal Express (Also Aerial) Pineberry (Grenade): Pin Pull >High Toss (Also Aerial/Can be shot) >Low Toss (Can be shot) Ms. Confire (Rifle) >>Fire (can be fully Locked on) >>>Reload >Put Away Ms. Travailler (Shotgun) >>Poke >>Launch >>Roll >>CQC >>Fire (can be fully Locked on) >>>Reload >Put Away Roll Aim with Ms. Travailler ———————————Overdrive/Chaos Attack Judge Better Half Genoise (Bazooka) *Mistranslated as Genoverse* ———————————Instant Kill Magnum Wedding ———————————
==Trivia== ——————————— --When Elphelt first appeared, her outfit was a Bridal gown, but most notably she wore a Four Leaf Clover (in Pink and Green colors). It's implied that after Sign's events Ramlethal put the clover on her hat as a symbol of her determination to save her sister. --Elphelt's Japanese voice actress Aya Suzaki liked her role SO much, she also voices side characters in other Arcade Episodes, particularly Kum Haehyun's Episode that was released later on. --Elphelt's Respect "Power Up" animation is a joke reference to the original Valentine in GG2 who transformed when Sol confronted her. Elphelt says she wishes she could do cool stuff like that! --The black "boss" form Elphelt took at the end of Xrd Sign is a reference to the Darkside Color palette found in older game Survival Modes. As expected, she was no match for Sol though! Despite the fact we couldn't fight her in that form, she had a very strong "Boss Mode" in M.O.M. mode in Xrd Sign! --It isn't immediately apparent, but Elphelt's "Seal Device" (complete with Valentine Visor, ala Justice), has two black-winged Rose "bits" that Elphelt can summon IN her boss form, as if she were a Danmaku heroine! All Elphelt's guns surround these bits and fire upwards, creating her attack "Rain of Judgement". --It's also implied that Lucifero's "two halves" (Belpha and Venus) are references to Ramlethal and Elphelt respectively, suggesting Venus is Elphelt's Servant. --It can be argued that Elphelt is an ascended fangirl of Guilty Gear, particularly the type of fan who ships romantic relationships between two random characters! --Elphelt was especially happy when Sin called her a friend... he was literally the first friend she ever had! --The Universal Will asked Sol to look after Elphelt and Ramlethal, and while that complicates Ky's family tree a bit... it can be said that Elphelt is technically Sin's cousin once removed. --Elphelt's Arena Bio still describes her as a Merciless Apocalypse. --May's inability to pronounce Elphelt's name might be a stealth reference to how Ramlethal was mistakenly localized in English as "Ramletherl", or in Elphelt's case "Erfert". ———————————
==References== ——————————— --Elphelt's weapons are references to various sweets (just like the original Valentine): Pineberry is a White Strawberry cultivar based on a Pineapple. Confire (Confaire) is a French Confit Preservative. Travailler (Trav-aye-ae) "To Labor" is a name for a French Pink Martini. Genoise (Geno-wass) is a Sponge Cake. --Elphelt's move "Judge Better Half" is symbolically a reference to when couples Cut the Wedding Cake during the Wedding Reception after getting Married. Couples often tried to kiss over the cake without knocking the highest tier over. It's also considered bad luck to cut the top-most tier of the cake! --Wedding Cakes come from Roman tradition as a sign of fertility. --Elphelt's military fighting style references Cable and B.B.Hood from Marvel VS Capcom 2, as well as Chris Redfield from UMvC3. She often says war movie catchphrases like "Fire in the Hole" and "Incoming!" --The Heavy Metal band "Bride" out of Kentucky did an album titled "Shotgun Wedding". --Elphelt's a walking stealth reference to "Guns'N'Roses". ———————————
You may now Kiss the Bride?

hello! i’ve written my first spideychelle fic that is not in the same universe as my headcanons! unfortunately, i’m waiting on an invite to create an AO3 account so it’s not posted there yet, but I will update this post the second it is!! without further ado...
The four times Michelle caught Peter staring at her, and the one time it was the other way around.
I. Kindergarten
The first time Michelle catches Peter staring at her is in their Kindergarten reading time. Their teacher takes them to the library every Friday to pick out a book, and naturally Peter goes with the other 5-year-old boys to the books about dinosaurs and race cars. Michelle on the other hand, is different. She ventures off from the ballerina and princess books and finds herself checking out a book that is labeled for the 3rd grade reading level and up.
“Are you sure Michelle?” Her teacher asks when the kids are lining up to go back to class, and Michelle hugs the book tighter to her chest and nods. She never liked the books for her class, they were far too easy and usually quite boring. She takes the book outside at recess and sits at the lunch tables to read. Other girls from her class come and ask her to come play, but Michelle politely declines. Jack and Annie ae about to go on another tree house adventure, and that’s way more exciting than hide and seek. A short while later her teacher comes over with two boys who clearly know they are in trouble for something. “Flash, you sit at that table over there,” Michelle overhears, but she doesn’t seem surprised. First of all, that kid in her class goes by ‘Flash’, and secondly, he’s always causing trouble. “Peter, sit across from Michelle, but you are not allowed to talk to her?” Michelle keeps her eyes on her book when she feels the weight of the table shift for a second. She doesn’t know what the two boys did and frankly she doesn’t care, but once she finishes the chapter she looks up to see a small pair of brown eyes staring at her under a mop of curly brown hair. “She said not to talk to me,” Michelle reminds the boy, and he blinks before turning around to watch the other kids on the playground.
II. 3rd Grade
The second time Michelle catches him is when they’re 8 years old. They haven’t been in the same class since Kindergarten, and Michelle always thought Peter was a weird kid. He talked about fighter pilots and the death star while Michelle was knee deep in 8th grade reading level at this point. Her parents had a talk with her teacher about Michelle not having that many friends, but the truth was that the kids in books were just more exciting than the kids she sat next to in class. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t have any friends, because she does. She sits with the same group of girls at lunch and plays tag with them at first recess, but she dedicates afternoon recess to reading. It’s just what she does. When her mom gives her a box of cupcakes to take to school for her birthday, Michelle takes them in proudly, and she’s excited when she gets to wear the class birthday crown all day. Her teacher passes the cupcakes out after lunch and brings Michelle up in front of the class so the class can sing to her. She notices him when everyone else is singing, because he isn’t. He’s staring at her with a weird look on his face, but Michelle can’t place it. She may be observant, but she’s not great at reading people yet. She thinks maybe he just zoned out, but after the song ends he smiles and joins in the applause from the rest of their classmates. Michelle walks back to her seat and looks back to where his desk is and he smiles and takes a bite of the cupcake. She swears she isn’t blushing, and she swears he isn’t her first crush, but his smile makes her want to smile too. So she does.
III. 7th grade.
The third time happens when they’re 13. Both of them are in their awkward stages, Michelle just got her first period and Peter’s voice is either super high or an awkward medium, depending on the day. They aren’t friends, but they aren’t strangers. They sit next to each other in History and have done a few group projects together, but that’s about it. She’s never been into sports, but her older brother is on the high school football team, and that’s where Michelle is going to go in two years, so she tags along to the games with her family. Her mom gave her money to go buy a hot dog, and so that’s where she finds herself when Peter comes up behind her. “Are you cold?” He asks, and she turns in line. He’s wearing a pretty heavy jacket, but it’s early October, and Michelle was fine in her sweatshirt. She shakes her head no, and he turns his attention to the menu. It’s not that Peter isn’t cute, because he is. His hair is still curly and his eyes are still so warm but she doesn’t know him well enough to actually like him. She’s allowed to think boys are cute without liking them, and she will never like Peter. He’s just…Peter. The crowd suddenly cheers and Michelle turns to stand on her tip toes to try and see the field, but she’s thrown off by Peter staring at her. “What?” She asks, but he just turns around to talk to Ned from English class behind him, Michelle finally gets to order that stupid hotdog.
IV. Homecoming (Junior Year)
The fourth time happens when Michelle decides Peter is going to be her homecoming date. They’ve gotten closer since the whole Liz fiasco of last year, and Michelle is certain that Peter is Spiderman. Since Kindergarten, her observant skills have been nothing but amazing. Honestly, Peter sucks at keeping a secret, but that’s not how she figured it out. First of all, Spiderman in D.C out of ALL days? Then, Peter disappears from Homecoming last year and suddenly Spiderman catches Liz’s dad in under 2 hours AND Michelle found Peter’s tie on the floor by the lockers towards the front door exit. And finally, Ned got busted for watching porn, and ned has been terrified of porn since Flash pulled it up at a previous decathlon trip. Nice try, Peter. She’s not sure what her motive is to bring Peter to homecoming, maybe she’ll force him to slow dance and tell him that she knows, or maybe a giant villain will come in and Peter will have to reveal himself to the world, or maybe it’s because she worries about him sometimes and- Oh no. The last one is definitely not it. Sure, she had a little crush in 3rd grade, but it’s over. He’s Peter. She’s talking herself out of that last thought when her mom calls her to tell her that Peter is downstairs, and she’s finally convinced herself when- Well shit. Peter Parker looks fantastic in a suit. She didn’t pay enough attention to him last year for the 2 minutes that he was there besides when she flipped him off when he walked in, and honestly he looks 10x better than before. It’s awkward when she’s walking downstairs, her mom is taking pictures and her Dad is wiping his eyes with a tissue. She avoids looking at Peter, because that little jerk has the same 3rd grade smile that still reaches his eyes. Her parents rush to get their cameras when she gets to Peter, and he’s still staring, and Michelle can’t hold her feelings down much longer, so she does the first thing that comes to her mind. She flips him off again.
V. Infinity War
New York is a mess. The summer before senior year is supposed to be college trips, late night Star Wars movie nights, and maybe convincing Michelle that he wasn’t that much of a loser. Instead? Peter is trying to save his city. His new suit allows his senses to function properly and he’s glad because he would definitely have gone into a state of distress at this point. There’s so much debris and so many noises and so many people to save as quickly as possible. He last talked to May and Ned before Tony got them safe, and he hasn’t heard from Michelle, but his phone died and he frankly doesn’t have time to find a charger. He’s webbing up a bad guy so Steve and Wanda can get the civilians out when he feels like he’s been punched in the gut. Michelle is among the citizens coming out of the library. She has dirt all over her and a cut on her leg and her face, but she’s alive. Thank god, she’s alive. She meets his gaze and he wants to yell at her to run, to run far away from New York as far as she can but he knows she’d roll her eyes at him. She doesn’t even know he’s Spiderman and he can’t say anything without risking it. He sees her break away from the group and she hops over a fallen piece of cement and goes over to him. There aren’t anymore bad guys in the area and Steve told him not to go inside because the building could fall any second. Peter is about to say something when Michelle reaches him, pulls his mask up above his mouth, and kisses him right in the middle of the battlefield. Peter barely has time to put his hands on her waist when she pulls back and puts the mask back down. “Be careful Parker,” she whispers, and he freezes. She knows. He watches her run back to the group and he hears Tony calling for him on coms so he throws a web to start flying over, but she knows, and Peter knows when this is all over he’ll have to talk to her, but he’ll do that after he kisses her again. Definitely after he kisses her again.
