Little known fact about James: just because he didn’t like potions, doesn’t mean he wasn’t damned good at it. He’d learnt at the knee of Fleamont Potter, the greatest potioneer of the last century, after all.

Snape realises this only a few minutes into their combined brew. He’d ranted and raged but Slughorn refused to part them.

“You better not mess this up for me, Potter,” he snarled, instead. The unbothered smirk he gets in return only infuriates him further.

“You’re slicing the root too thick, Snape,” Potter replied coolly before quirking his eyebrow in judgement. “And those beetle eyes, little squished, don’t you think?”

In the end, Snape had fumed his way through the prep, the easy competence pf Potter’s brewing—and his valid criticism—only increasing his ire.

“Excellent,” Slughorn announced with a simpering smile. “Of course, no surprise there, eh, Mr. Potter.”

“You flatter me, Professor,” Potter demurred but the glint in his eye as he winked at Snape was pure arrogance. Bastard.

like yeah. at certain ages... let shit go. im not defending the real immature shit. im not defending the karen you're picturing. i worked in retail i hate those people too. (once somebody got mad at me because she didn't like how our winter window decor was a snowman smoking a pipe. i wish i was joking).

but men at 57 will write books about how 17 year old girls are soooo sexy. they will invent worlds where women have to be naked for "armor reasons." they will write songs that treat women as objects. people rush to defend them. meanwhile a woman at 35 will be like "heartbreak is hard, actually" or "i feel betrayed by a friend" or "i am struggling with something emotionally." immediately people will say stuff like this woman is 35 by the way. by the way this woman is SO OLD to be experiencing this. BY THE WAY.

im 31, almost 32. the other day a poet was blasted online because at her "big age", she had written a poem about feeling unloved. top comment was "this woman is 29 by the way." this woman is too old to still be useful, by the way. she has to behave better . maybe if she was a good wife and mother she could stop existing loudly, and the story could continue on without her. this woman has served her purpose, by the way. she's so cringe, by the way. at 29 - so old! - she still hasn't figured out that her existence should be one of shame.

The JA books and subsequent woobification of padawan Obi-Wan have people overlooking a key fact, which is the innate ability of all 14 yr olds to immediately lock onto your deepest insecurities and fucking eviscerate you. You look at TCW Obi-Wan's bitchiness and tell me he did not have this ability but dialled up to 11 cause he's also a psychic force-sensitive.

I fully believe padawan Obi-Wan was terrorising Qui-Gon, the reason that man's always running ahead and leaving his padawan behind is because he's avoiding having to explain his life choices to the galaxy's most judgemental teenager. Initiate Obi-Wan is aggressive, padawan Obi-Wan is passive-aggressive.

Hi! I hope I'm not bothering you, but I just had a moominsummer madness book lying around and noticed that this Fillyjonk reminded me a lot of Machete. With the long, miserable snout, the big sad eyes, clothing and all :)

You're not bothering at all! I've mentioned this before a couple of times but Moomins are essentially embedded into the marrow of my bones, I've been an admirer of Tove Jansson and her creations a lot longer than I can remember. Fillyjonks (multiple separate characters, including the one you mentioned from Moominsummer madness) are some of my favorites, so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if some of their neurotic energy had influenced my dogs as well.

I think the most Machete-like fillyjonk is the one from the short story Fillyjonk who believed in disasters. It's one of my favorite pieces of literary fiction. Despite it's shortness and simplicity, the way it captures the crushing banality and loneliness of everyday anxiety and paranoia changed my brain chemistry when I first read it. It's currently quite easy to find online in English.

the canon of dunmeshi makes it easy to imagine farcille with marcille as the perpetually pining party ready and willing to violate the most fundamental laws of nature for the woman she is utterly, irrevocably in love with. but.

the idea of marcille doing everything she does under the impression that falin is just her dearest most special friend that she loves with the normal platonic intensity of all girl besties while newly re-resurrected falin is shaking laios in their shared bedroom at the earliest opportunity trying to spark their two brain cells together to figure out if marcille, who she has been desperately crushing on since magic school, is actually in lesbians with her and just denser than a neutron star is infinitely funnier so that's the version of reality i subscribe to

(to sweeten the pot this makes marcille being obsessed with romantic drama and effortlessly spinning a character study of chilchuck's wife based solely on two sentences, her knowledge of him as a co-worker, and the power of her own delusions so much funnier too. too busy working that maxed out delusion stat on her unfortunate partymates to look inward for two seconds)
