Lumbricus castaneus may be one of my favorite local earthworm species for its small size, active nature, and strong iridescence, which varies in color from deep blue to yellowish green.

found on the surface under leaf litter or old wood, when you uncover one of these spirited little worms it’ll sprint off to safety, shining all the way.

i think some people got the wrong message after watching every movie where mean bullies call the quirky but ultimately loveable protagonist a "freak"

calling people freaks isn't bad just because sometimes you're wrong and that weird girl was actually very nice and saved everyone at prom from a mummy's curse.

calling people freaks is bad because dividing the world into "good people who are normal" and "bad people who are abnormal" makes you a tedious goddamn asshole

I see a lot of definitions of what exactly constitutes a bug, so I want to know what you guys think makes a bug.

do you know why the (earth)worm’s shiny on the right end? is it iridescence or just weird lighting because I took the photo w flash on?

It's iridescence and it's normal on earthworms, but I'm not sure if the light refraction is caused by structures in their skin or in the mucus covering their body or some secret third thing.
