I love how the smurfs keep the dam pink after smurfette pinkbombs it. I bet vanity loves it.

fun fact: in the cartoon version of the smurfette the dam is actually pink before smurfette is made into a “real smurf”! 

unlike the (albeit worse)comic version it’s never explained and i’m guessing hb never thought abt that until it was too late. especially because they use the joke where papa freaks out abt the dam color being changed to pink in the purple smurfs episode instead with the exception that it’s smurfette painting a bridge pink (which makes it super funny cuz… the dam’s already pink. he shouldn’t be shocked lol)

My 10 favorite rap albums of all time: 10: To Pimp a Butterfly (Kendrick Lamar) Some of you out there might get M.A.A.D that I placed this so low on the list or that I picked it over the phenomenal Good Kid, M.A.AD City, but I still believe To Pimp A Butterfly is a funk masterpiece. I remember seeing reviews of it when the record first dropped saying “It sounds like a crazy person broke out of the asylum just to release this album”, but to me, they just don’t get it. The album as a whole, felt so free form and suits Kendrick so much better than what he usually does. Alright is still considered a black pride anthem by many and the single version of “i” is still one of my favorite Kendrick songs today. 9: Lil Uzi Vert Vs. The World (Lil Uzi Vert) Now, before I get hate for this one, I have to go off the record and say that I LOVE Lil Uzi Vert. In a world of Lil Pumps and Lil Yachtys, Lil Uzi is probably the least hated mumble rapper in the game right now. And aside from probably my favorite song of his, “XO Tour Llif3”, Lil Uzi Vert Vs. The World is my favorite thing he’s made. I remember the album catching my attention for the simple fact that the album art was based on the Scott Pilgrim comics’ art style. And this album was actually the first mumble rap album I actually liked. It’s because of it that I anticipated Lil Uzi’s “The Perfect Luv” so much. Though in my opinion, the darker tone that Vs. The World had fit Uzi much better. 8. Free 6lack (6lack) Many respect 6lack for starting out as a rapper and becoming something more. When I first heard Free 6lack and its opening song “Never Know”, I was immediately blown away by 6lack’s flow. It was more than just mumble rap, in fact it was very lyrical. It was more like he was singing. This album showed me and many others just who 6lack was and what he was capable of. 7. The Best of N.W.A (N.W.A) Okay, so this might seem like a cop out, but I was extremely torn between N.W.A’s debut album, Straight Outta Compton and their last studio album, Niggaz4Life mostly because without Ice Cube, Dre, Ren, and Eazy really shine with their word play and DJ Yella gets more time to show off. On the other hand, Straight Outta Compton was great because Ice Cube wrote most of the lyrics masterfully for their first outing. Plus, Express yourself is N.W.A’s best song. Fight me. 6. Coloring Book (Chance The Rapper) I was a huge fan of Chance for reasons that’ll be clear soon. So I was definitely waiting weeks for this album to drop. When it did, I was stunned by the features: Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Jeremih, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, D.R.A.M, Lil Yachty. This album is straight up NUTS, but in a Christian way. Within the first hour of this album dropping, people through around the word “masterpiece”. In fact, Coloring Book IS a gospel rap masterpiece. Everyone was going crazy for this mixtape Chance released for free. Not only that, this was the first mixtape ever given out for free to win a Grammy. 5. Acid Rap (Chance The Rapper) “Wow, Hip Hop Historian, you must really like Chance.” Fuck yes I do. Chance is God’s gift to man. This was my first Chance album and it made me fall in love with Chance. The first time I heard the album was browsing SoundCloud and stumbling across “Favorite Song” because of Gambino’s feature. I listened to the rest of the album and now I know the track list by heart. There’s a song here for everyone. Whether you wanna listen to something conscious, you want to vibe, or you just wanna have a good time. And the way Chance starts and ends this album with “Good Ass Intro” and “Good Ass Outro” is simply incredible. IGH! 4. “Awaken! My Love” (Childish Gambino) Putting this on the list was always gonna be controversial. This isn’t exactly a “rap album” but being an album under the genre or hip hop and by a rapper, it qualifies it. Anyway, this is another album where the word “Masterpiece” was tossed around a lot. I could probably attest to that. Although not my favorite Gambino album, and probably Donald’s least favorite album to make, you can’t argue with the results. This album solidified Gambino as not just a great rapper, but an amazing artist. “Awaken! My Love” is quite simply a funk magnum opus. Songs like “Me and Your Mama”, “Boogieman”, and “Riot” instantly stand out to me. “Baby Boy” is a beautiful track, and anyone who hasn’t listened to the sensation that is “Redbone” has never experienced true joy. 3. The College Dropout (Kanye West) Okay, here we get into some real shit for me. No matter what anyone says, Watch The Throne, 808s and Heartbreak, Graduation, Yeezus, and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy will never compare to Kanye’s first studio release. The College Dropout was the album that got my high school English teacher into rap when he was a teen. Kanye just never released an album more down to Earth than it. In his other albums, it always seems like Kanye’s putting on this persona, while in The College Dropout, we get a side of Kanye that lived a lower class lifestyle for almost 20 years. Because of that, we have songs like “It All Falls Down” and the 10 minute “Last Call” where Kanye just keeps the beat going to tell us all about how much he struggled just for a deal. 2. Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde (Pharcyde) If you asked me what my favorite old school hip hop album was, I’d tell you it’s Bizarre Ride. If you asked me my favorite Pharcyde member, I’d say Fatlip. No, wait! Imani! This album just has so much variety to it. From the funkadelic Soul Flower Remix to the slow and impactful Passin’ Me By. A copy of both Bizarre Ride and LabcabinCalifornia need to be locked away in a vault for safe keeping. Pharcyde in general are essential to the history of hip hop and are one of the most important rap groups ever. I could honestly geek out and quote this album forever until I die. 1. Because The Internet (Childish Gambino) Now, I don’t mean to ride on Donald Glover so much, but not only is he my favorite rapper, but he’s my idol. He does it all. From movies, to tv, to standup. And all of that really shows on this album. Alongside the album came a short film written by Gambino named “Clapping For The Wrong Reasons”, and a companion piece to the album in the form of a screenplay also written by Gambino. The screenplay and all it’s mysteries have to be my favorite part of the story to this borderline rap concept album. I know I said Bizarre Ride had variety, but this album is on a whole ‘nother level. From songs everyone knows like the heartfelt “3005”(which has my favorite music video ever) to the silly “Sweatpants”, there’s so many gems in this gold encrusted diamond of an album. And along with Bizarre Ride, Because The Internet is one of the albums that I know every single lyric to. Plus, this album has my favorite Gambino song ever, “Crawl”. And I’d just like to point out that when Chance had Gambino featured on Acid Rap, he let him rap a whole verse and take over one of the choruses. But when Gambino has Chance featured on “The Worst Guys”, he has Chance repeat the same five words over and over again. I love Gambino to death. Because The Internet isn’t the cleanest album ever, in fact it’s sloppy and seems rushed together in hindsight, but that’s just it. This album represents Childish Gambino’s down to Earth starving artist phase and that’s something I can relate to heavily. I love Because The Internet.

[TRANS] JBJ Interview for Star1 Magazine October 2017 Issue!

Great Combination JBJ

JBJ is a fanmade group created by passionate national producers during Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2″. They couldn’t make it into the final team, but they always scored high rankings during the broadcast, so the national producers picked them based on their commonalities. After the program finished and WannaOne was formed with 11 members, the fans kept wishing for Kwon Hyunbin, Kim Donghan, Kim Sanggyun, Kim Yongguk, Noh Taehyun and Kenta to be active together as a team. The name ‘JBJ’ was made from the first letters of the words “Just Be Joyful”. With different statements like “a really desirable combination” or “please just debut”, the fans wished for the group’s formation. With hard work like this, JBJ came into the picture as real idols. They really are idols “from the fans, because of the fans, for the fans”. 

Q: JBJ became a reality. Who was the biggest help in forming this group?

Taehyun: The fans, of course. We didn’t make it ourselves, but the fans did it for us. Kenta: Taehyun hyung also played a big part in it. There was a unique picture of us all together. Taehyun hyung wanted to take it while we were getting ready for our stage at the “Produce 101 Season 2″ concert. If it wasn’t for this one photo, it might not have come to this. I’m very thankful. Also, as a leader he helps managing our different opinions. Sanggyun: The officials from CJ E&M, LOEN and Fave Entertainment, haha. I’m thankful towards a lot of people, but since it’s a fanmade group, I’m always thinking of the fans as the one key factor. I love you.

How did all of you become friends?

Taehyun: Since during “Produce 101 Season 2″ we all stuck together for 4 months, you get closer to a lot of people. Plus we all dropped out at the same time. You naturally stayed in contact with the dropped out trainees and after meeting up a few times, you get closer. Kenta: Even before JBJ, there was “KenCallTae”. When I was together with Yongguk and Taedong, it was always fun and after talking more, we became friends. And because we got more and more, JBJ was made. The members also enjoyed the fans’ reaction.

It’s actually the first time you all have to match in everything. What is that like?

Taehyun: It’s really the first time we’re doing everything together. But after 4 months of practice together, we’re all in a state of knowing what we’re good at. While we practice to highlight each member's strength, I get the good feeling that we’ll be a great group. There aren’t many with that distinctive cuteness and youthful awkwardness. (laughs) Sanggyun: Nothing has been uncomfortable yet. But you can only tell after we stayed together for a couple of years. So I don’t really know yet. (laughs) Hyunbin: Practice is different from our usual laughing, chatting and joking around. Then, I immediately get the feeling of “woah, they’re all real singers”. After listening to songs, memorizing lyrics, putting on earphones and practicing alone, we look at each other and it feels really amazing. Donghan: No one is hard to deal with, they are all nice. Everyone has a good character as well. So I enjoy both practice and of course the dorm life. 

Have you learned something new about the members while preparing for the album?

Hyunbin: During the broadcast I was never on the same team as Taehyun hyung. I didn’t really know hyung had this strong sense of responsibility. In dancing he teaches each member according to their skills. I find this side of him really cool. Donghan: Sanggyun hyung is surprisingly serious during recordings. He seemed kind of professional. I knew the playful rapper side of him, but seeing him so serious during recordings was really cool to me.

How is the dorm life?

Yongguk: I brought a cat to the dorm. At first I was afraid that some of the others would be against it, but everyone liked it a lot. As it turned out, Taehyun hyung and Sanggyun hyung are allergic, so I’m worrying what to do about this. Taehyun: To be honest, I only found out I’m allergic to cats now, after living for 25 years. (laughs) My eyes start to itch and I have to cough but because the cat is so cute I keep touching it. Sangyun: While I was sleeping that huge cat appeared crawling across my face. I got a shock and jumped, so it ran away but it scraped my forehead with its claws. It also got my hand. I guess we’ll quickly have to decide on whether to get rid of Yongguk or the cat. Haha. Kenta: We don’t have a dark atmosphere. Even when we have free time, we’re always talking and joking around. Hyunbin plays around a lot in the dorms, and when he loudly starts singing, the mood goes through the roof. The mood doesn’t go down in our group. 

Please tell us about JBJ’s album.

Taehyun: Since we’re a fan made group, we’re going the direction the fans want. Whether it’s the concept, the music or the style of the clothes etc., the whole thing. The staff members are really searching for the fans’ opinion. They often look for the fan community’s reaction, comments etc. when they create the looks and the concept and such, so they can do it the way the fans want. It seems like it’s going to be a dandy&sexy concept. Kenta: We might show a manly side of us in this album since we don’t have any minors. You can expect sexy and manly stages. It might be a little similar with “Open Up” from “Produce 101 Season 2″. It’s a song that connects manliness and sexiness. Donghan: We might show off our sexiness in moderation. (laughs)

What are your positions in the group?

Taehyun: As the fans wanted, I’m in charge of being the leader. Kenta: I’m the cute and sexy foreigner. I’m trying to make it a thing. (laughs) Sanggyun: I’m in charge of lots of things. As you can probably see, first of all I’m the visual. As you can probably hear, I’m also the rapper. I’m a genre and a concept myself. Yongguk: I’m the cutie. (laughs) To be honest, I can’t lead the team’s atmosphere. I have a calm side. That’s why I want to show a bit more of a sexy concept. Hyunbin: I don’t want to go with my chic image anymore. When I sing for the first time on stage, I want to be able to convey a bold and kind of cold image. Donghan: I’m in the tall line with Hyunbin hyung. Also, I’m the maknae. 

What kind of charms does JBJ want to show?

Taehyun: The members all have something that distinguishes them from others, they have a lot of talents. The six of them can all make themselves stand out. Kenta: I want to show sexy and cute sides, a varied charm. Sanggyun: The fans are always stuck on sexiness in this concept. Even if I’m worried I won’t do well with this, I’m trying my best to stand out with sexiness. I love you.

We heard that you have plans to go into other fields of the entertainment industry as well. What kind of area do you want to try out when it comes to acting?

Taehyun: I feel like a sitcom would fit my character well. Not as the main but as a supporting actor. I want to be someone that may not be the main character but without them, the show would feel empty. Kenta: I always wanted to try being an MC. An MC bears great responsibility, but they are really great. I’ll have to keep up the mood. I want to be an MC like Leeteuk sunbaenim on Mnet’s “I See Your Voice”. Sanggyun: I want to try variety. I watched MBC’s “It’s Dangerous Outside the Blanket” and it was really fun. I think I would be a good couch potato. Yongguk: I want to try a movie. If it works out, I want to be a guardian of the law. Like a hero. (laughs) Hyunbin: I want to try the film noir genre. Because I leave quite a strong impression and have a deep voice, I think I’d fit the role of a bad guy. Donghan: Because I really like variety, I want to be on a show. I think I’d be good at keeping up the atmosphere and create a lot of jokes. I would choose active variety shows like tvN’s “Journey to the West”, KBS2′s “1 Night, 2 Days” or SBS’s “Running Man”. 

Would you rather shoot a broadcasting program or a CF together with the other members?

Kenta: I’d like to shoot a CF for Isultoktok. Even if it’s Soju, it tastes like a cocktail to me because of the peach flavor. We’re all adults, so wouldn’t it be fun to try a CF for an alcoholic drink? Yongguk: I want to appear on tvN. The members really are hilarious. Especially Sanggyun hyung. Yesterday morning when we were still sleeping, he got hold of helium from somewhere. He inhaled it in the living room and made weird sounds. Hyunbin: Lately, I want to try a comic parody like Big Bang sunbaenims’ parody of the drama “Secret Garden”.

What do you think is the most important part when having activities together as a team?

Taehyun: To respect each other. If we don’t respect each other, we won’t care about the others, no matter what we’re doing. Respect towards the others is the most important thing. Kenta: The atmosphere. If someone’s mood is down, it could put the others in a bad mood, too. This is why I think it’s most important to always maintain a joyful atmosphere. Then I want to tell the members “let’s work hard”, “let’s enjoy ourselves!” and give them a lot of energy like this. Yongguk: Each member’s personal charm. I don’t want anyone to be overshadowed.

You are constantly faced with the teams formation and disbandment. Isn’t it hard to adapt to this system?

Kenta: It’s a pity that the time we are all together is only 7 months. The K-Pop sunbaes I’ve been watching since I still lived in Japan are still active. But I still want to work hard and enjoy myself during the 7 months we are given. Sanggyun: First, I want to do my best and show a good side of myself in the days we’re given. If I think too much about it, I think I’ll go crazy. I want to work hard during JBJ’s activities. Yongguk: Of course there’s sadness. When I was in the team for “Boy In Luv” during “Produce 101 Season 2″, I wanted to think “Woah, we’re a group now”, but the team was broken up. It’s kind of sad having to think about it while forming a group with other members now. 

What is JBJ’s role model group?

Kenta: Super Junior sunbaenims. When I see their airport fashion, they are all unique and appear wearing a goofy smile. It’s really funny and nice to look at. When they’re doing their individual activities and also when they’re back together as a team, they seem very professional and their atmosphere seems joyful. I want us to naturally convey such a joyful side of us as well. Yongguk: Shinhwa sunbaenims. When I wasn’t in JBJ but doing a duet with Sihyun, I was always thinking of Shinhwa sunbaenims. Their shows are really enjoyable and funny and they are really friendly among the members. I hope our group is also funny to others and makes our fans smile. Hyunbin: Exo and Vixx sunbaenims. Their concerts are unrivaled every time. I feel like I’m learning a lot when I watch them.

What is your goal as JBJ?

Taehyun: I already debuted before. I want to try a lot of things that I couldn’t do when I was a rookie. I never did photo shoots like this or filmed a variety show. Also getting high chart rankings? I want to do a lot of things that you can only do when you’re a rookie and that make your heart race. Kenta: I want to receive an award. We’re only doing activities together for 7 months, but after 4 months, the Seoul Music Awards take place. Next year, we can’t go there. That’s why it would be really great if we received an awards this year, even if it’s just a really small one. We can leave it as a sign that we were there and pass on or gratitude to our fans. Sanggyun: Winning on a music show. If we win first place, we come out at the ending. I want to do something unexpected on a live broadcast once. Hyunbin: I want to enjoy the activities and achieve good results, so the officials think “Oh, they can do even more” and the group can be active for a long time. That would be great. Even if we all do our own work, we get back together when we have to stick together. Until we become ahjussis. Haha.

I'm so glad Kirishima is getting so much spotlight, he really deserves it!!!! And it looks like hes gonna get more, since hes in the main group along with Deku, Uraraka and Tsuyu. I;m so hyped!!!

Honestly!!!!!!!!!!! That’s one interesting group tbh, Kirishima and Tsuyu’s interactions are always incredibly adorable to watch and seeing Kirishima interact for so long with pure and good people is gonna be hard on my heart (I mean, you know I’m 100% a bakusquad fan but they’re all at least in part assholes and Kiri fits with them just right, he can be just like Sero and Kaminari and I love it, but then his interactions with Amajiki have been so pure can you imagine an arc filled with that I’m already crying)

I just hope my other faves won’t completely disappear through this arc haha sigh

And I dunno, as things are now my opinion on a possible ship might change soon enough because it looks like their interactions amount is about to skyrocket, so anything I say right now is just a temporary answer? But generally I find their friendship incredibly adorable, though as of now I don’t think I can see anything romantic between the two... mostly because even though I’ve seen them being friendly and supportive of each other I don’t think I’ve ever seen them actually connect over anything that wasn’t Bakugou?? Being friendly and supportive is just how they both are with everyone, before I can say I ship them I’m gonna need something more singular to their relationship

This took me long enough to answer that we now know Baku’s reaction was total and utter envy at how popular Kiri is LMAO - but yeah I still think Baku already knew about Kiri’s new move! After all he most probably came up with it as they trained for the license exam and I can’t believe he wouldn’t test it against Bakugou to make sure he actually turns unbreakable? Also proud-of-himself Kiri yelling at the squad to check out his new move is too much of a good image I can’t let that one go hahaha

..........I would lie if I said I didn’t think about this while drawing that kiss R I P my multishipper heart is gonna kill me BUT IT’S OKAY I’m not one for unhappy endings so consider this - Denki sees them kiss, since he’s best bro and both Kirishima and Bakugou tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves he already knew this was gonna happen so he’s like, sad but resigned it hurts and he wishes he didn’t have to see it but he loves them both so much that he can’t help but being happy for how happy they are at the same time too (sure, being part of that happiness would be a dream coming true, but he’s used to never coming first he can deal with this hahahahaha r i p)

Meanwhile a bit after the kiss once Kiri is a hundred per cent sure Bakugou isn’t going to explode his head off if he mentions his very huge crush on Kaminari he does and Bakugou’s like, shit, it’s not like he’d mind it because Kaminari is, well, he’s Kaminari and Bakugou isn’t sure why but he’s comfortable to be around and easy to talk to and he’s stupidly pretty and like, yeah, okay, he might be into him too, maybe, he isn’t admitting anything here (not like he needs to, as stated already he’s pretty easy to read), but Kaminari’s also the no homo type of het so it’s not like they can do much about this threeway crush or whatever, and Kirishima’s like sure, I know, I just wanted to be open about this to avoid trouble, which is very sensible and will cut us on a lot of miscommunication angst this is getting out of hand let’s skip ahead I always forget how much fun I have writing this kind of bullshit

For however much Kaminari swore he could deal with it and how much he’s actually managing to deal with it he’s also the same brand of open book Baku and Kiri are and while it was easy to act like friends with no romantic feelings when everyone was doing the same, trying to hide from Bakugou and Kirishima while they’re openly in a relationship turns out to be more or less impossible, mostly because he can’t seem to avoid the longing stares and sad smiles and the I have to go I just remembered I have a thing to do bye’s when it becomes too much, and Kirishima might not be the brightest but he’s perfectly in tune with everyone’s feelings and Bakugou might stomp on people’s feelings more often than not but he is the brightest which means they notice and they’re like god fucking damn it - Bakugou in nature isn’t one to talk about problems until they burst out in fits of anger, but thank god he’s got Kirishima right there and they might not be 100% sure they got the reason for Kaminari’s weirdness right but they’re exasperated and they at least want their friend to stop being weird and avoiding them, they miss him (and Kaminari seriously misses them too he feels so stupid for how big of a deal he’s turning this into) SO they corner him and talk it out cause I’m a slut for open and honest communication and Kaminari straight out starts crying from happiness and relief before they’re even done talking and Kirishima starts crying right after him because sympathetic crier supreme and Bakugou’s like you know what I changed my mind fuck both of you emotional disasters I’m out
