Goinkyo Mao No Hinichijyo - Ch 13 Summary (Spoilers)
So the end is here.
So we start again where we left off in ch 12. Akari’s consciousness has been overtaken by the memories/emotions from his past life and he’s attacking Kai. Shiden is excited at this because this was what he was aiming for all along.
Kai suspects that Shiden had planned this but Shiden reveals that while he did expect Akari to come as long as he has taken Kai into the demon world, them being in the amusement park where the Makai-like miasma was, turned out to be a stroke of luck in his favour. Since the timing of when Shiden could get Kai to return to the demon world was completely unknown, this is fate. Like the strange fate that saw the original demon king’s wife being reincarnated into Hana who then becomes Kai’s foster daughter.
Due to Akari’s rampage, the castle walls start to break and water from the surrounding lake starts to rush in, making the situation dire. Kai is hurt while avoiding Akari’s attacks and Hana gets upset that she’s always being protected and she was hindering Kai’s ability to fight.
She takes a hit propecting Kai and this upsets Akari, who can’t understand why “Aira” is protecting Kai. Akari’s followers sieze this moment to grab hold of him, trying to wake him up. They tell him not to fall into darkness for he is the one who gave them, mere dolls, life with his necromancer abilities. To them, he was their light.
Hana protects Kai
A piece of the ceiling falls towards Akari but his follower, Heraku (ponytail guy) blocks it with his body as Akari starts to find himself. He sees that Heraku has lost his arm. As the castle crumbles, Akari’s followers fling him out to safety as the exit shuts with them still inside. This leaves Akari in shock.
Inside, the water has rushed in and Hana has drifted away from Kai. He manages to grab hold of her but water levels are way above their heads. Kai is distressed wondering if he was indeed fated to cause Hana’s death (again). He gets a grip on himself and tells himself he won’t let that happen.
He leans in...(see below)..but at that moment, he hears a voice. At this, he thinks of how he’s brought up Hana throughout the years and musters enough power to blow up the castle.
Kiss? Or Giving air?
The prince, Yuno and Hades have managed to escape and find a desolate Akari who could not get a response from his followers. Prince and Yuno tell him to get himself together as there was still work that he had to do.
Just then, Kai appears with Hana in his arms, both alive and well. Yuno says that since Akari has woken up from his past memories, he should be able to lift the curse so that they could prevent the destruction of both Makai and the human world.
Akari looks at Kai and Hana with a wistful smile and says that the curse has already been lifted.
Curse is lifted but exactly how???
Back in the human world, it’s morning and the neighbourhood housewives remark at how nice the weather was even though the sky looked weird for a bit. They greet Kai and Hana who’ve just stepped out onto the streets.
Kai tells Hana he’s headed to the employment center but Hana stops him since he was headed in the direction of the race course. Hades then asks them if they really intend to marry. Hades explains to Hana that marrying means sharing a futon; she doesn’t seem too excited about the idea.
Hades: So are you really getting married?
Kai lets out a sigh and says to Hana that something happened between Akari and her, right? Hana blushes as Kai continues to say that it’s impossible to marry him and have kids just because they got separated for a while.
She smiles and agrees, thinking that Kai must have kept that painting in the castle because those were painful but important memories for him.
Akari and Shiden come along; Shiden decided to come to the human world since irritating Kai was his calling and Makai was boring anyway. Shiden and Kai start fighting like they always do.
Hana asks Akari if he’s ok since alot has happened and he tells her he is fine. She remarks that there was no need to continue exchanging diaries but Akari says that he had intended to continue. He holds her hands and tells her he hasn’t given up on her. Hana blushes as Kai gets pissed off.
Akari: I’ve not given up on you
Akari says “Good Morning, Dad” like any fine son-in-law would do, leaving Hana even more flushed and Kai even more pissed off.
We can see that Akari’s followers are watching the noisy group from the trees above.
Kai looks up into the sky and thinks back to the voice he heard when the castle was filled with water. It was Hana’s mother, saying thanks to him for bringing up Hana so well.
And so, everyone continues with their lives in peace(?).
Thoughts
I actually read this over a week ago. I supposed I shouldn’t have expected much but I was a little disappointed at the way things were wrapped up so quickly and “conveniently”.
So what did Kai really think of Hana? It looked like he was about to kiss her and was reminded of how he brought her up when he heard Hana’s mother’s voice. Or was he just about to give her air?
My guess is that he did think about it but ultimately decides that she’s his child and that was that. Because my Japanese isn’t perfect, I can’t be sure but his conversation with Hana at the end seems support that. It can be interpreted that that he knows that there was something between Akari and Hana that made all that talk about Hana marrying him and having kids, an impossible one.
And it isn’t super clear if Hana likes Akari in that way...though I suppose with the cover referring to Akari as her husband in their past life and her lover in this one, the author’s intentions is for them to be a couple. Given that Hana never once rejects Akari when he holds her hands and how she reacts every time he plainly tells her he likes her.... And then there’s her reaction when Hades asks her about sharing futon and all...
The last volume is set to go on sale end of this month and Kazato Nori has said that there will be character introductions and short omake comics about what happens after the end of the comic so I’ll just look forward to that.

ADARSHAN NO HANAYOME (アダルシャンの花嫁)
— Spoilers are italicized —
ALT TITLE: The Bride of Adarshan
AUTHOR: Amekawa Kei (story), Kazato Nori (art)
CATEGORY: F/M
STATUS (as of 2021-01-01): Complete
CHAPTERS: 9
VOLUMES: 2
MY STATUS: Completed
YEAR OF PUBLICATION: 2006 – 2008
GENRES: Shoujo, Romance, Historical, Fantasy, Drama + [ag] [ag: yf x om] [younger f] [older m]
MAL SCORE: 7.05
SUMMARY: The small country of Adarshan recently conquered a territory of the Castoria Empire. To tie the alliance between the two countries, and secure the new border alignment, the victorious Adarshan general, Alexid Deke Adars ( king's younger stepbrother), was forced into a political marriage with Castoria's sixth imperial princess, Justinia. But she's only 10 years old...!
PERSONAL SCORE: 6/10
WHAT’S UNCONVENTIONAL ABOUT IT?
The premise of the story involves an arranged marriage between a 20 year-old prince and a 10 year-old princess whose countries were previously at war.
THE MAIN CHARACTERS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP
Princess Justinia (Euti)
The sixth imperial princess of the conquered kingdom who was offered by her father into marriage as part of a diplomacy treaty. At the beginning of the story she is not even 10 years old yet.
Some loudmouth bratty tendencies (which I actually enjoy), but as the story progresses you can actually see how much she's mature for her age. She is very conscious of her duties, protective of the people she loves, a brave person, and has a strong personality, while also being a kid who likes to play like any other kid, too.
She initially hates Alec because he killed her knight in battle. When she officially meets him she tries to stab him and keeps plotting to kill him for weeks. She is not a kid with a bad heart, though, and ends up being very wise, because when he is feeling down she forgives him and mentions how getting revenge on him won’t do anything about her loneliness after her knight died.
Alexid Dake Adars (Alec)
The main character of the story, since in the second volume of the manga, the focus shifts and we barely see Justinia. He is an accomplished general and actually the bastard of the previous king.
He seems to be hardened and a bit taciturn, but is actually pretty soft hearted and starved for love and affection (to be honest he reminds me a little of Jon Snow).
He has many reservations about marrying a ten-year-old (as one should), but goes along with his duty, as he is definitely not a rebellious type. He actively tries to get along with her (although not really a warm person, he's very polite) and is distressed over the fact she doesn’t like him.
Things between them are more like a guardian-child dynamic until the end of the manga. She goes after him mainly to play and to pass the time and he indulges her sometimes, but they mainly keep their distance.
OVERALL OPINION
I would have liked the manga to have more focus. It tries very hard to do worldbuilding and politics, but unfortunately, not in a very compelling way. Even if the focus wasn’t on Alec and Euti’s dynamic, I would have liked a clearer character arc for him. If Alec’s hardships have to do with loneliness and finding his place in the kingdom, I believe it should be done in an impactful manner, to drive us to seek it with him. Another minor complain is that while the art is good enough for me, the action scenes were not well drawn and are the least dynamic I’ve ever seen in manga yet. Thankfully, they were few and far between, or as much far you can have in a 2 volume series.
The relationship between Alec and Euti had a lot of potential. It wasn’t crudely done (as in, the narrative did not forget their positions of adult and child and tried to go through a typical shoujo narrative like some other manga I’ve read) and it had a nice conflict set up. I like the contrast of a hardened brooding warrior with a subdued personality and a self assured young kid; and if only the story played more with how these two people should act and react around each other in their complicated situation, I believe, emotionally, the author could have pulled it off. It’s not to say I ultimately didn’t enjoy where they ended up (with a kid character, you can only do so much, romance-wise, without it being tacky and unrealistic), but maybe the road should have been trickier or the facets should be multiple.
I believe the authors hoped to have more time with the characters. There was a lot of set ups that didn’t get anywhere and the ending felt a bit rushed.

Assassin is Silent But Deadly in I'm Quitting Heroing TV Anime PV
A new character preview video has been revealed for I'm Quitting Heroing (known in Japan as Yusha, Yamemasu), an upcoming TV anime based on series of light novels written by Quantum and illustrated by Hana Amano about a former hero who volunteers to rebuild the kingdom of the Demons that he previously destroyed in his quest to save the world.
The character PV (below) focuses on Meines (CV: Yumi Uchiyama), the half-human / half-demon leader of the assassin's guild. Meines rarely talks and has a perpetually emotionless expression, so as a result he has difficulties with public speaking and expressing himself.
