There are only so many fanfics that use the entirety of DC as cardboard cutouts to prop up bat family characters that I can read before I go berserk.

I swear to god. Every character that has ever been shipped with a bat or coexists on the same team as a bat is owed an apology.

How many Young Justice fanfics that solely revolve around Tim must exist? How many Titans fanfics centered only on Dick? Why is it a herculean task to find a Justice League fanfic without Bruce as the main character?

And then even when you do find a fic that seems like it's balanced, everything still revolves around the bat. Like Kon, Cassie and Bart have nothing else going on in their lives except Tim and Tim's issues or thinking about Tim. Like Donna and Wally and Roy just cannot function if they aren't spending every waking moment thinking about Dick.

I'm... Guys. I'm at my limit. I swear to god. We need to make a Batman tag and surgically remove all these fics and quarantine them there. We'll keep the actual DC fics and they can do whatever the fuck they want in their own tag. It's getting ridiculous how hard it is to find fanfic that's actually DC related and isn't just 'The BatFam Show'.

I have been reading too much of what people have been saying about Lewis's move to Ferrari recently. And I can't take this honeymoon phase seeiously at all. I genuinely like both Lewis and Charles but I am gonna root for Lewis first and foremost. He needs to take back his 8th championship more than Charles needing to get his maiden F1 championship. Everytime I see your Pat lolcalization posts, I can't help but think if this is him overcompensating for voicing the character of n*zi germany in the first seasons of the hetalia anime.

But the interesting "lolcalisation changes" and direction give to VAs really seem to favour a certain reading of the events happening in FE16 and to this day, I still can't understand how that managed to be released without getting at least some flak.

Sure Fates' lolcalisation is a tough nut to beat and nothing comes quite close to what happened to Fates to FE16/Nopes, and yet I wish I am joking when I say nearly 80% of the lines involving Supreme Leader and/or Rhea/the CoS should be double checked, because "Dany expy bringing a revolution" has to fit in the story that is FE16, and that's talking about the washed down version of Dany some people have and not the one who uses violence for the greater good, until she starts to realise that the "greater good" is as solid as smoke and runs away from the - well-intentioned ! - mess she created.

Again, I don't think anything was malicious with the lolcalisation Fodlan got, is it just a case of misunderstanding the game and slapping archetypes and "trendy notions" to make this "strange" game sell like hotcakes in your home market?

Or is it another case of "think of the children Susan" where Susan sure as hell can't endorse a character presented as the heroine sprout disgusting things and advocate for imperialism 101 so the heroine is now rewritten?

Or is it the lolcalisation team - after looking at the jp script - try to make the general idea of "you must feel bad for this character" somehow work, because they thought no one would seriously want to walk with her and feel any sort of sad uwus for the "you have pointy ears, you cannot rule over humans" red emperor? So they modified the script and directed the VA accordingly ?

IDK, but I think if you've been long enough on this blog you know my stance on localisation and lolcalisation but this discrepency between the two versions (or at least two audios) really took me by surprise when the game was released in 2019 lol

Thinking about how many things with the MST3K revival they got right, with one of them being that they didn’t bury the one host who hasn’t made a reappearance, Mike.

They could have ignored him if they wanted to, they really could’ve; Lord knows we have plenty of examples of modern franchises that have decided the past is not worth honoring. But instead of ignoring the host responsible for half the original run, they really made sure his presence was present.

He’s on the arm patch, for one. Movies and songs from his era are referenced and remixed. In the Time Bubble Tour, the bots sigh wistfully for all three of Joel, Mike, and Jonah (before cheering up because Emily is there!).

When Erhardt goes to fetch an original classic host, the odds of Joel or Mike are basically 50/50, he’s not picky. When Kinga is with Pearl, she goes “I know, I know, my hosts are nice but they’re not Mike”. In the s13 finale, when Jonah, Emily, and Joel are needing to play up-tempo music to get the ship going and Emily suggests the theme song, it’s Joel who goes “I only know the lyrics to Mike’s”, and they sing his first opener.

It’s very, very lovely, and makes MST3K feel like a long-lived show that both embraces its present and celebrates its past. Even if not everyone from the original run can be involved now, you as a fan don’t feel scorned for liking and missing something from before, and it’s nice to see it on screen.

Claude isn't supposed to be their heir though, just one of many princes - and yet this isn't about knowing what a neighboring nation is like, but knowing what Almyra is like. What kind of education did he receive in Almyra? Were they talking about the border regions and how people there lived in miserable conditions due to the friday raids and the War (Goneril interventions?) and how this situation affected civilians?

Almyra is supposed to be vast - so maybe people living in the capital don't really know how the people living far from the capital or near the border live... but we're not talking about the miller's son, but about a prince! Again, maybe because he's just "one of many" princes, he didn't get a special education or his was lacking (but his parents made sure he knew how to untie himself from a rope while being attached to a horse, so they had different priorities??) - but it's jarring to compare how little Claude and Supreme Leader know about their own territories to Dimitri, who can give exposition about the various events happening in Faerghus and knows more or less what are its current issues.

I've seen in the fandom some people comparing Claude to an undergraduate student entering Uni, like he is sure he knows everything about every topic, when his knowledge is very superficial at best, downright utterly wrong at worst.

But not knowing about Almyra's lack of social structure comparable to the CoS who does the majority of Fodlan's charity work and hosts the biggest orphanage in those lands really makes him look... ignorant about the country he speaks so highly for, which is not a good look at all.
