A little late to the party (per usual) but I think her and I did better when it was just me and her.

No boyfriend drama or someone who made me feel less of a person and then refuse to talk about it in a adult way (without screaming). No one to feign genuine love for her and then leaving early and “forgetting” to feed her on his way to work to make me do it last minute. No one complaining about her trying to snuggle too hard to invade space. The truth is she was just looking for the love I promised to provide to her.

I’m looking forward to being away for a few weeks. It should quiet the bad voices inside me that say things I’m not sure I’m ready to mean and remind myself that I was once wild here and I let them tame me. I’m not that person. True love or not, I’m not this person and I’m afraid the packaging or my real self is starting to tear through.

It worked for a while, my pretending but...
