Summer Apple
A nonet for the prompt “Summer” for GOetry Monday
@goodomensafterdark
(9) Shall I compare you to the summer?
(8) You are more ardent, fierce and hot!
(7) I melt in you like ice cream,
(6) let your heat seep through me,
(5) boneless beneath you.
(4) Tempt me, Summer,
(3) apple red,
(2) neath sky-
(1) blue!
“He couldn't see why people made such a fuss about people eating their silly old fruit anyway, but life would be a lot less fun if they didn't. And there never was an apple, in Adam's opinion, that wasn't worth the trouble you got into for eating it. “
~ book!GoodOmens
Aziraphale (who’s sky-blue-eyed POV this poem is in) may carefully, lovingly mock the first two lines of the world’s most famous sonett (18) by Shakespeare:
„Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.“

It's another Five Words Good Omens-themed poetry challenge from @whickberstreetwriters!
Using the words astray, dust, laugh, sigh and smoke, I've done another nonet from Crowley's POV 💜
Caution, Still
In the dawning, the noon sun, the twilight sighs
In the daybreak, the dreaming, the stardust night
your laugh races, embraces, swooping around me,
like a white plume of smoke
I choke; hold my tongue -
astray I should stay.
Yet I'm forever
drawn to
you.

If I only had one “I love you”
and my whole long life to give it,
I’d give it to you today.
A hasty, precious choice,
but you should know that
my perfect joy
is soft, blue,
close to
you.

Skill - Nonet
As I sit, writing, composing here I slowly begin to ponder: What if the reason I use comedic tendencies in my poetry is that I fear my lack of writing skill?

Mine to Solve
A labyrinth of passing minutes
eating away my precious time
among fitful intervals
no one seems to control,
least of all myself,
a strange surprise
unforeseen
startling
me.

Human Heart
A question I should have never seen,
Another fragile human heart.
Progression through photographs;
Hurt when I see it stop.
Pink stains the metal.
Take me with you.
Human heart;
No beat.
Gone.

If you could call up anyone now,
And speak to them throughout the night,
About anything and how,
About what's wrong and right,
Who do you think of?
The voice wished for?
A lost love?
A friend?
Me?

It's Five Words Friday in the @whickberstreetwriters poetry challenge! We selected five words and I, of course, took the opportunity to write something (very slightly) smutty-adjacent 😏
I chose to write a nonet poem incorporating: dew, ink, hunger, feral and wanton
Marginalia
Etching memories with ink, pages testify to our tale
of clandestine sojourns. But unwritten is the hunger
of which I can leave no trace:
craving the touch of dew-brushed skin;
how I ached to enscribe
desperate, wanton need deep
upon wanting lips;
my feral
adoration

She heard us all root for warmth and light,
for the sun to win out and end
winter’s deadness. Jealously,
slipping straight to spotlight,
Moon had her moment,
sweet as can be:
“You can cheer
for me
too.”
#poetry#spilled ink#nonet#NaPoWriMo#napowrimo 2024#prompt#write a poem that centers around an encounter that should never have happened#my mind immediately went to the sun and the moon because DUH it’s eclipse day#and you know it’s April so I’ll write at least three nonet poems

I never said you’re my everything I never said you were pretty I never said I loved you I never said the words I never said it I should have though ‘cause it was Always True
7 years and I still think about my first female crush, it’s kind of embarrassing
Wish I’d taken the leap instead of internal homophobia.

I'm Sorry - Nonet
I missed a day to post poetry
It is quite sad, it seems to me
I just went about my day
I truly went astray
And went out-of-touch
Lost so, so much
To the fall
Missing
All

Nonets and Octameter
Rhythm and Rhyme by Maria L. Berg 2024 Today, I’m excited to share that I have two poems published at Heron Tree. They are found-poetry nonets. Here’s the link https://herontree.com/berg4-5/ . They’re short and include a quick paragraph about my process. For today’s MTB prompt at dVerse Poets Pub, Laura challenges us to write an Octameter – designed by Shelley A. Cephas in 2007. The Octameter…
