Decided to indulge myself and make a little board for my girl Aella. Here's a brief cliffnotes on her. There's a ton more but this gets the basics. Tom first met Aella in 1944 after she transferred to Hogwarts from Uagadou in his 7th year and was sorted into Slytherin (HL wasn't out when I made her, this lining up with Natsai is a funny coincidence). She graduated a year after him and joined him overseas despite the protests of her father. Aella eloped with Tom in Albania in 1949 after searching for the Diadem for several years. Upon returning to London, she was promptly disinherited by her pure-blood father who disagreed with his daughter marrying a penniless orphan and a man not of his own choosing. Aella and Tom would spend the next ten years playing house while Tom worked at Borgin and Burkes. Raised as a pure-blood heiress, Aella carried that mindset into their small home despite the lack of funds coming in from her father. She upheld the standards of her time in dress and decorum and made sure Tom came home to a well-dressed wife and a hot meal most days, though it was not entirely uncommon for Aella to get wrapped up in her research and lose track of time. As Aella was originally raised by house-elves and squibs, Tom had to put up with more than a few failed recipes at the beginning. While Tom had little actual care for domesticity, he did covet the sensation of being a true pure-blood that Aella created. In his mind, his wife's adherence to the old ways was his due as the Heir of Slytherin and Lord Voldemort. Aella spent her free time while Tom was at work researching various possible locations to visit to uncover further Dark Arts, designing the Dark Mark, and coming up with the base spell that would later be developed into Morsmordre. She also spent a good amount of time teaching him various forms of wandless magic native to her homeland that would later become a staple in his arsenal, although Tom never stopped preferring a wand. At some point, Tom murdered Aella's father, Lateef Ibrahim, and covered it up by using the Imperius Curse on Burke so that the shop keep would say Tom had been at work the day of Lateef's death. While Aella had her suspicions about Tom's involvement, she ultimately accepted his story and perhaps decided it was better not to know the truth. The funds that Aella would receive as the sole heir would eventually fund their travels during the 10 year disappearance. I have a ton of AUs where Aella does live, but canonically she is killed by Moody in 1979 at the height of the first Wizarding War. The loss of her drove Voldemort further into instability and the sloppiness we would see from him during the books that led to his ultimate defeat. He also forbid his followers from speaking of her ever again. During their marriage, Aella often noted that Tom had all of the building blocks for love when it came to her, but none of the know-how on how to put those pieces together. He showed his appreciation to her not through physical affection or loving words but through gifts he knew she'd like, praise for her achievements, and assurances of her value in his perceived destiny. Aella understood this as his own attempt at love, no matter how flawed, and, in turn, devoted herself entirely to his vision up until her death. One day if there's interest I'll get into her personality and more about her as a person, but this is just a tl;dr of their life together. She was NOT a good person in any way, shape, or form, but she knew how to make you think you were her best friend and it helped build up Voldemort's original followers. Pls send asks or whatever if you'd like. I'd love to talk about her.

i'm sorry but idk what orpheus and eurydice are could you explain please? 🥺👉👈
oh, of course!
Orpheus and Eurydice are a Greek myth, though they're canonized in literature in several plays/novels/accounts by Greek and Latin writers, and modern ones. My favorite is Virgil's Georgics Book IV, which has a poem about them and a beekeeper (highly, highly recommend reading it, in this one the beekeeper's bees have died because of a curse to punish him as he wrongly killed Eurydice, which is just one of the scenarios for her death that we see in mythology! the translation i've linked by A. S. Kline has some absolutely gorgeous prose).
but they're one of my favorite mythological couples ever because they have a beautifully, tragically poetic story: Orpheus is a musician, and Eurydice is his wife. The myths vary on exactly how, but Eurydice dies one day and Orpheus, fiercely grieving and unable to live without her, endeavors to go to the Underworld and bring her back (a feat no mortal has ever achieved). He plays music lamenting his loss as he descends into the Underworld, and it's so beautiful and moving that none of the monsters attack him, and even Persephone, the goddess of the dead, is moved by his love. Therefore, Hades and Persephone say that he can take Eurydice back with him to the living world--if he leads her up without ever once looking back to make sure she's really there.
Orpheus gets almost all the way to the top, the entire time nagged by the fear that she's not actually there, that the footsteps he hears are his imagination, and when he's almost at the entrance--he can see the sunlight--the temptation is too much and he looks back. Just in time to see her standing there, but he looked back and so she's lost to the Underworld once more. And then, in true mythological fashion, he cries himself to death by a river/lake (the details are a bit vague in my memory here 😆).
the last bit of the story (the ascent back to the world of the living with Eurydice behind him, and particularly the last look back) is referenced many times in literature throughout the ages bc it's such a powerful scene, and there's a lot of different interpretations on why he looked back--because he couldn't bear not to know if he had her a second longer, because he loved her too much, because he'd already passed into the real world and she hadn't, but he didn't realize and so it was a mistake etc etc.
they're deeply tragic, but one of my absolute favs because their entire story is shaped by the depth of their love for each other. There's a quote from a play about them by Sarah Ruhl that I adore bc several interpretations show Eurydice's forgiveness amongst her grief when she's taken back, because she knows he only turned bc he loved her.
Orpheus: How will you remember?
Eurydice: That I love you?
Orpheus: Yes.
Eurydice: That’s easy. I can’t help it.
Eurydice - Sarah Ruhl
that was probably a LOT longer of an explanation than you wanted lolll 😂
i love them and they've got some major jily vibes--tell me James Potter wouldn't go the underworld for his wife, and his greatest flaw (and ultimate downfall) wouldn't be his love for her--and one day I'll write an actual, takes-place-in-ancient-greece, sticks-to-the-myth retelling of them as Orpheus and Eurydice! (gotta put my classics education to use somewhere 😌)
dear lily evans...i love you is canon compliant 7th year (ish. it’s a no voldemort au!) so it doesn’t have any of the actual storyline of the myth, but the vibes and emotion of Orpheus and Eurydice are definitely there! ❤️🥰

THE MAGE
Wand: Cedar. Phoenix feather. Slightly rigid.
Whenever I meet one who carries a cedar wand, I find strength of character and unusual loyalty. My father, Gervaise Ollivander, used always to say, ‘you will never fool the cedar carrier,’ and I agree: the cedar wand finds its perfect home where there is perspicacity and perception. I would go further than my father, however, in saying that I have never yet met the owner of a cedar wand whom I would care to cross, especially if harm is done to those of whom they are fond. The witch or wizard who is well-matched with cedar carries the potential to be a frightening adversary, which often comes as a shock to those who have thoughtlessly challenged them.
This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.

Quills ( he keeps nibling at them when nervous so he winds up carrying multiple) After year 3 carries books on runes and codes and ciphers. ( they became a special interest.)
Fashion: Prioritizes comfort over fashion. Tends to just throw on whatever he finds and go. He doesn’t mind wizarding fashion since one of his parents was magical but does prefer muggle clothes a bit. Often wears sweaters ( gets cold easily) under robes. His clothes are always kinda haphazard.

Would you consider posting your thoughts on the Twilight series? Because the bits and pieces I catch on your main are HILARIOUS though maybe it’s just because I find salt hysterical LOL
Oh good grief
Under a read more for my sake if not anyone else’s
The year was 2007. I was 11 year old, in 6th grade, nursing a substantial superiority complex over my classmates, and idolizing the 7th grade girls. This is where my story begins.
Now I won’t get into all the semantics as to why I was such an insufferable little garbage person in middle school, but I will tell you that I was convinced that I was not like other girls. While this proved true, my reasons as to why were completely off the mark in my tweens. Back then, I thought it was because I was smarter, wiser, and more mature than any of the other 6th grade girls in my class.
But not the 7th grade girls. The 7th grade girls were it, man. Nobody was cooler or smarter or more creative than the handful of ladies who were blessed with the patience to put up with my nonsense in middle school. So naturally, when they read Twilight, I read Twilight.
Twilight, if you have the good fortune to not be intimately aware of it by now, is about the Bella Swan, blandest girl in the entire world, moving to a small town to live with her emotionally awkward father, where she meets the Cullens, a clan of vampires who don’t drink human blood, because they’re trying to be morally upright. Her scent is irresistible to one of the vampires, (the only single one among them because the rest are dating each other) named Edward. Edward has the ability to read minds, and Bella is the only person he’s ever met who is immune to this power. I must stress again that she smells so good that he has to physically restrain himself from eating her, and murdering all witnesses. For reasons I can’t really remember now except “because that’s what the books are about”, they fall in love.
Here’s the thing about these books: Even as I was reading them, they gave me the creeps. Something in my little baby mind was vaguely aware that Edward was a messed up motherfucker, and Bella was a one-dimensional stand-in for the reader, and everything interesting in this story was happening on the fringes, facilitated by the far more interesting side characters. There were parts of these books that were uncomfortable to read. There were parts that made me seriously question why these books were so popular. There were parts that made it physically difficult to keep reading. About 3 things happen in the entirety of this series that feels good and satisfying, and none of them are things that the author, who I will derogatorily refer to as Smeyer, meant to be satisfying.
Two things kept me reading these books. The first was, obviously, the 7th grade girls, and my other friends in other grades who quickly caught the hype wave.
The second. Was the fact. That the writing style of these books, despite being the modem for a story that is absurd at best and a giant, flaming, stinking dumpster fire of bad takes, racism, and sexism at worst, is HYPNOTIC. A lot of my opinions about this series have changed drastically over the years, but this is one that I was acutely aware of even as I was reading these books. No matter how stupid or frustrating or repulsive the things that Smeyer is writing are, her writing style will not let you put the story down once you’re invested. And since I was reading these for social clout, I was invested on page 1. I want to believe that this was a trick played on my young mind, but after reading the first chapter of Midnight Sun (the newly released book that is literally just Twilight from Edward’s POV instead of Bella’s), I can confirm that this woman’s style is genuinely Like That. I enjoyed maybe 6 sentences of the 15-page chapter and I am still frothing at the mouth to read more.
So now that I’ve justified why I subjected myself to this shit in the first place, let’s get to some feelings about it.
Edward is a CREEP. He knows this. His family knows this. His love rival knows this. The only person who does not know this, rendering the fact completely inconsequential to the events of the story, is Bella. I’m not really willing to talk about how Edward is such a disgusting model for what young girls should expect out of a partner that there was discourse for MONTHS over Fifty Shades of Grey, but.... Edward is such a disgusting model for what young girls should expect out of a partner that Fifty Shades of Grey exists. It’s literally Twilight fanfiction. Fact check me. I wish I was making this up.
Bella is, as I said before, a cardboard cutout of a human being. The book is from her point of view, and includes copious amounts of her thoughts, and yet it’s still clear that she has absolutely no personality. She is supposed to be your Jane Everywoman, and yet there is not a single relatable thing about her. Her three personality traits are Brown Eyes, Clumsy (but not in a way that matters often), and Likes Edward. That’s it. This girl has nothing going on, which only draws more attenton to the fact that literally everyone else in the story has a rich and interesting backstory. But they’re side characters and this is about Stale White Bread Bella over here, so go fuck yourself if you want more information on Rosalie using her vampire abilities to get revenge on her fiance and his buddies, who assaulted her to the point of near death, or Alice, who sees the future and spent a good chunk of her life in an asylum, or Jasper, who was a Union soldier fighting the Civil War which was ALSO the vampire war???? Fuck off with that shit, this is about Bella.
But you know who the best characters are? The werewolves. But not REAL werewolves. These are Native Americans whose initial transformation is triggered by the proximity of the vampires, because vampires once terrorized their people and now this ability to turn to wolves is hereditary to protect themselves. The fact that these fellas are not REAL werewolves, and that there are real lycanthropes of lore, is mentioned in passing in the last book and never mentioned by anyone ever again.
One of these wolves is Jacob, Bella’s childhood friend and, for the first two books, an absolute sweetheart. Just a big goofball who’s a couple years younger than Bella, and all he wants is the best for her. Real wholesome shit. When Edward leaves her because he thinks that she’s too attached (SHE IS),  Jacob literally talks Bella back from the brink. The wolf pack, and the Native American tribe, welcome her as one of them. They’re adorable. I can’t stress enough that they would have also been an excellent candidate for the focal point of this shitshow.
But it doesn’t last. Edward does some real dumb shit in Italy and Bella has to go rescue him, which tips off the Vampire Illuminati that Edward was trying to get killed by (i.e. the real dumb shit). They don’t like that Bella, a human, knows about them, and demands that she be turned. Edward’s family is divided on this. Eventually they decide that they got time because the Vampire Illuminati are ancient and don’t have a good enough sense of time to hold them accountable immediately.
So Bella is fine and Edward is fine and everybody is back in the same town and they’re dating again and literally everyone in the town is like Bella what the FUCK. Nobody likes Edward because they think he’s no good for Bella. They are written like the bad buys. Jacob especially, becomes a huge asshole. Because he decides that he’s in love with Bella now. Because werewolves can imprint on people, which is just a sloppy soul mate mechanic used for absolute evil in this story. He wants to fight Edward over her. Edward is chomping at the bit to throw down, but pretends to be the bigger person even though he’s just as big an asshole about all this as Jacob is. This is as misogynist as it sounds. From this point on Jacob is now also a creep.
Oh, but it gets worse!
I gotta talk about the last book in the series now, Breaking Dawn. Because this shit was so awful that it made me regret, instantaneously, ever second I spent enjoying Twilight.
Bella and Edward get married after they graduate high school because Edward is a religious virgin and Bella is HORNY. They go on their honeymoon. Bella gets pregnant. This is Not Something That Is Supposed To Happen.
Smeyer tells us WHY this happened post-canon. Edward, the virgin, has never nutted. Because of this, he still has living sperm in his balls. So when he boffed Bella, his 80-year-old sperm made it count. I wish I was making this up, y’all. I’m tearing up thinking about it.
Bella is now pregnant with a half-vampire baby that is destroying her body from the inside out. It is growing at an exponential rate. She’s eight months along after three weeks. Edward can hear its thoughts. It loves Bella. Bella has to drink blood or die. Jacob is like What the Fuck. I am also, pretty thoroughly like What the Fuck. A couple members of the Cullen family are, very quietly, like What the Fuck.
Queue the most forced and ineffectual pro-life discourse you’ve ever read in your life.
All is well and good until it’s not. Baby suddenly wants to get out of Bella RIGHT NOW IMMEDIATELY and thrashes so violently that it shatters every bone in her body between her ribs and her femurs. Edward has to rip her uterus open with his teeth. Baby is out. It has a full mouth of teeth. It bites Bella. Edward whips out several syringes full of his own saliva and injects them into Bella all over to make her change into a vampire. This is all written in disgusting graphic detail that still makes my skin crawl to think about. I cannot fathom why Smeyer was not made to tone this scene down.
So it takes a few days for Bella to change into a vampire, during which time the Cullens (and Jacob) have to look after her hellspawn of a daughter. Jacob decides that he must kill her, because she basically killed Bella. But--- surprise! He wasn’t in love with Bella! He was in love with the eggs in her womb-- particularly this one egg that is now a baby! No more crush on Bella! No more beef with Edward! He’s just in love with a newborn infant. I am, at this point, wondering in my little 12 year old mind, how this was allowed to be published.
Bella wakes up a vampire, and in her first display of rational thought through the entire series, does not like this. Don’t worry though, that’s quickly cancelled out by her naming her baby daughter Renesmee.
Renesmee is clearly supposed to be a sweet and gifted little angel that you’re meant to love, but frankly, all I can picture is the Chucky doll but quieter. She does not talk much, because she has the ability to share thoughts by touching people’s faces. She also grows super fast. In a few days she’s toddler age. Nobody knows what the fuck is going on and nobody has time to worry about it because the vampire Illuminati found out about this (a vampire friend of the family snitched) and they’re coming to fuck up the whole family.
There is a reason why they want to do this but it’s stupid and frankly I’m not going to explain it.
So the vampires mobilize. They call all their vampire friends because their plan is just to fight the thousands-years-old vampire Illuminati over this horrible child. For some reason dozens of vampires agree to this. They’re all smitten by Resume I guess.
So the illuminati comes, the family tells them that Ramune isn’t the problem that they think she is, and they leave.
That’s it. That’s the climax.
And then everyone gets their off-putting happily ever after: Bella and Edward can now fuck as much as they want because neither of them can die. Bella abandons her human life without so much as a second glance. Resonate will physically be an adult by the time she’s 7, which means that Jacob can start fucking her then. Bella’s dad sort of knows what’s going on, but doesn’t. For some ungodly reason I don’t make a bonfire out of these books.
You may notice, if you have any knowledge of Twilight, that there are whole plots that I didn’t talk about. That’s because I’ve surely forgotten things. While I read these books with what I can only describe as a manic fervor in my youth, I could never bring myself to reread them. On God, I tried. Multiple times in the last decade I have pulled my box set, hard covered Twilight books off my shelf, and opened them up. But I never even make it through the first chapter before I am so put off that I have to put them back. The plots are flimsy. The main characters are made of sand. The secondary characters are treated like garbage. The lore is disturbing.
And yet as soon as I heard that Midnight Sun was coming out, I knew that I must read it. I’ve made it through the first chapter. I do not know when and how I will make it through the next, but I know, for little middle schooler Theo’s sake, that I must.
Twilight? Horrible. Twilight Fandom? Geniuses.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

The Future of Remus John Lupin
Mostly based on canon.
Older FC: Andrew Garfield

First War
(( Wartime headcanons here ))
He isn’t around in 1981 enough to worry about who might be a traitor.
It goes without saying that Sirius will be the Potters’ Secret Keeper, so Remus isn’t surprised when he hears of the plan. He knows it will make Sirius an obvious target which he hates, but he can’t offer himself up for the job when he is away so much and at such a high risk of dying every Full Moon.
He doesn’t ask to be given the secret. It’s better if less people know, even if he wouldn’t be able to tell anybody else and he doesn’t want to risk Voldemort using a wolf pack to kill the family if Remus were able to find them.
End of the War
Remus starts to make headway with Greyback’s pack a few weeks after the October Full Moon, to the point where he is finally trusted enough to be allowed to come and go as he pleases. As soon as he is left alone, Remus sneaks off, with the intention to send an update to Dumbledore.
However, something within him is telling him to go to Godric’s Hollow and as soon as he remembers what is in Godric’s Hollow, he feels his heart drop to his stomach. He apparates to the village to find a house in such ruins that the Fidelius has broken and hoards of mourners filling the streets. He finds a copy of the Daily Prophet and discovers that it is 7th November and that his life had ended a week before without his knowing.
He goes immediately to Hogwarts where Dumbledore confirms everything the paper had said. Remus struggles to process the information. None of it makes sense to him -- that James and Lily could be dead. That Peter could be dead. That Sirius could be the one who betrayed them. He doesn’t believe it, but Dumbledore speaks much too reasonably to see how it could be false. The evidence only points in that direction. That Sirius was Secret Keeper (and Remus doesn’t believe his friends would ever lie to him, so when they told him Sirius would be Secret Keeper it must have been true). That dozens of witnesses had watched Sirius kill Peter (Remus throws up right there in Dumbledore’s office and tries to convince himself that it’s because the next Full Moon is now only a few days away). That there was no other explanation.
He assumes he has simply missed Sirius’s trial when he hears he is already in Azkaban and only finds out years later that there never was one. By then, his urges to reopen the case are dismissed by anybody he tries to talk to.
He asks where Harry is, only to be fobbed off with platitudes about how the boy is safe, excuses that his location cannot be compromised, and reminders that Remus would never be suitable to take custody of the child.
Though Dumbledore tried to talk to Remus about the Order continuing their work, and especially about keeping up the work with the werewolves to promote peace but Remus was in too much shock to listen. Desperate to get away from everything, he flees to Belgium where he stays for the Full Moon on November 11th.
He missed the funerals.
“The Lost Years”
Remus settles into a routine of a couple of weeks of menial work, followed by a Full Moon usually abroad, apparating back to Mary’s house where he collapses on her doorstep, lets her heal his wounds and grieves with her before he goes back to looking for a new job now that he has lost the last one.
He spends a lot of time without a fixed address, slowly chips away at money left to him by his mother and by James and spends most of his earnings on fuelling his old cigarette addiction and his newfound alcohol addiction.
He keeps trying to look for Harry but Dumbledore has put too many security charms over Privet Drive for him to be successful and everybody in the know has been told not to tell him anything. By Halloween 1982, he has given up, too depressed to try any longer.
Honestly it’s depressing af and I don’t want to talk about it, if you feel like crying there’s a whole Pinterest board of pain here.
He visits Lyall a couple of times but their relationship hadn’t been the same since Remus first found out the truth about his bite and it has been even more stilted since Hope’s death. The end of the war has been good to Lyall, who finally seems happy, and Remus felt too much like he was the reason Lyall had been unhappy before, so he stops going back.
Lyall dies about two years after the end of the war and leaves Remus with everything he had at the end. Remus sells most of it, including the house, keeping only Hope’s record player and records. Eventually, he runs out of money and has to sell those, too.
He never manages to find it in him to hate Sirius, and he hates himself for that.
Professor RJ Lupin
He’s squatting in a tumble-down cottage in Yorkshire when Sirius escapes Azkaban, and hears the news from Dumbledore himself who comes to ‘his house’ to a. Deliver the news and b. Ask him to be the new Defence teacher at Hogwarts.
Remus agrees despite the dumbassery that is Dumbledore refusing him access to Harry’s life until now because Remus is a pushover who still thinks the sun shines out Dumbledore’s arse.
Wow don’t think about what went through his mind when he realises Harry is in his compartment.
Remus is ashamed to reveal who he is to Harry so when Dumbledore tells him not to say anything, he doesn’t question it, only goes along with it.
The fact that he still cares for Sirius plays a large part in his not telling anybody about the different passageways into the school he knows the faculty do not know about, as well as Sirius’ animagus abilities.
When he gets to the new home McGonagall has insisted on finding for him (and paid his first six months worth of rent for) after he resigns, he has a breakdown over everything that went wrong.
1994-1997
Remus does start up a letter correspondence with Harry after his teaching career is over, though it is a little erratic thanks to full moons and Remus’ general disorganisation whenever he doesn’t have a routine. He writes to Sirius, too.
Snape keeps making wolfsbane for him, which he takes every month from his resignation from Hogwarts until he goes back to the wolf packs in September 1996.
It is a little too easy to fall back into depression when all his attempts to find a job are met with hostility. Umbridge’s new laws make it almost impossible, as they even make it so the Ministry could arrest him for seeking employment in the Muggle world. His year at Hogwarts has, at least, been enough for him to stop drinking and he doesn’t smoke as much these days either, so he lives on the money he had earned and the ridiculously high severance pay Dumbledore had given him for that year, but he rarely leaves the house and he loses track of the days to the point where the Full Moon sometimes creeps up on him.
(At some point he probably asked Snape what the fuck he was doing at his house because he thought the Full Moon was still two weeks away)
Sirius showing up on his doorstep with the news that Voldemort is back and Harry saw it happen is like a punch to the stomach. Remus almost wants to say he can’t do this again but then— well he hasn’t been doing anything else productive, has he? He needs to be needed and that’s how he finds himself handing in his notice on his flat and joining Sirius at Grimmauld Place.
After Sirius’s death, nobody is there to stop Remus going back to the werewolves even though it destroyed him the first time (:
1997-1998
It’s easier to say no to Tonks when he was literally in the same school year as her parents and she’s more than twenty years younger than him and he’s become closer to Mary over the years who would definitely not want him to enter a relationship with her goddaughter just because none of James, Sirius and Lily are there to tell him that’s a dumb idea and that neither of them deserve that.
He doesn’t have a reason to go into hiding without having a family because he’s only trying to stay alive at this point for Harry so helping with the war is the only option in his mind. It’s honestly very hard to see him not still going to Harry and asking to join the golden trio and as he’s not running from his unborn child and Harry wouldn’t want to see him go back to werewolf packs there’s a chance it actually ends up happening but I might as well rewrite the entire last book if I say that happened so instead let’s say the Order is still active enough and he has enough to do away from the wolves to keep him busy.
By the time he gets to the Battle of Hogwarts, he’s so tired of living, he’s just trying to do anything he can to make sure Harry gets through it but he’s firing offensive spell after offensive spell at two Death Eaters at once and doesn’t even attempt to defend himself.
He’s killed by Antonin Dolohov at the Battle of Hogwarts.

Hi, you say that L is a Scorpio Sun, Pisces Moon and Aquarius Rising, have you thought of all of his placements and the astrology placements of the other death note characters? (I'm very interested in astrology and death note and your opinion on this)
Oh god, I could probably write you a book about this, haha. That’s three (DN, L, astrology) special interests at once! So thanks for the question.
(Again: it’s not meant to be taken 100% seriously and just something I do because my brain loves to obsess over certain topics, so please, anyone who reads this, don’t come to me with the “Validity of Astrology Discourse”)
We neither know the exact time of L’s birth, nor where he was born (and that’s true for every DN character, it’s just especially complicated with him because of his ethically mixed background). Which means that we will probably never know the placements of his Houses, but the rest of his radix is fortunately pretty much set. I looked it up for various potential birthplaces (relevant are: England (Europe is tiny, so it would only make a minimal difference if he was born in Italy or France), Russia (I tried a few places for Russia, for obvious reasons) and Japan) and at least none of his luminaries change signs, depending on where he was born, so that’s great.
I also tried many different times for the time of his birth and this is the one I probably like the best:
Tumblr media
As I said, I headcanon his AC to be in Aquarius, but that’s not the only thing I like about this: it would put his Scorpio sun almost at the zenith and in the 8th house too. He’s quite the extreme Scorpio, in my opinion, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if his sun were in the “Scorpio House” on top of it. (I could also talk about his MC and IC in Sagittarius and Gemini, but then I would never stop talking, so I’ll shut up for now) (Or his Leo DC *cough*) (Or that Pisces - where also his moon is - is caged in this one)
I also consider this:
Tumblr media
It’s pretty different, as you can see, and I think Virgo Rising is less likely than Aquarius rising, but what I like about this, is that most of the luminaries are under the horizon (which would fit his introverted and secretive nature) and also left (which would fit his self-centered nature). (And his DC in Pisces would be interesting too, considering his weird, complicated relationship with Light, who’s Pisces)
I looked at his horoscope with various other House placements too, but whatever.
So, anyway, funnily enough, all of this:
Scorpio Sun
Pisces Moon
Sagittarius Mercury (barely, though, his Mercury is still heavily influenced by Scorpio)
Scorpio Venus
Leo Mars
Virgo Jupiter
Virgo Saturn
Scorpio Uranus
Sagittarius Neptune
Libra Pluto
Virgo Lunar Node
Libra Lilith
Taurus Chiron
Pisces Pholus
is canon. Of course, Ohba doesn’t give fuck about any of this, except his Sun (I think), but I’m still very satisfied with practically all of this and can’t help but analyse it in my spare time.
And I think this:
Scorpio Sun, House 8
Pisces Moon, House 1/Rising
Sagittarius Mercury, House 9
Scorpio Venus, House 9
Leo Mars, House7
Virgo Jupiter, House7
Virgo Saturn, House7
Scorpio Uranus, House9
Sagittarius Neptune, House10/MC
Libra Pluto, House8
Virgo Lunar Node, House7
Libra Lilith, House7/8 (8, imo)
Taurus Chiron, House 2/3
Pisces Pholus, House1/Rising
looks very, very good. Pisces Moon in AC would probably surprise a few people, but think about his pale skin, round, bulging eyes and his wacky (”loony”) hair. Seriously, he’s quite the classic water type. It would also explain why he does everything he needs to do to feel comfortable (eating sweets, walking barefoot, limp posture, wearing only certain, comfortable clothes = classic Pisces stuff) in front of everyone (which is part of what the AC stands for), without caring about what people might think (= Aquarius Rising).
And where does his incredible stubbornness come from? Mainly from basically everything about his Sun, Leo Mars and Sagittarius MC. Honestly, the motto of a Leo Mars in DC could very well be: “
He who moves first always wins.
The only thing I don’t like about this, is that it would make the 7th House his most prominent House……. I have no idea what to make of that.
As for other DN characters: yes, I’ve thought about most of the main character’s placements too. And it’s really nice that we know all of their birthdays & the years there were born in and can also guess at least the country they were born in.
So, in my opinion,
Light
is either Capricorn Rising or Virgo Rising:
Tumblr media
(This “looks” more like him, but I like some other parts of the second one better) (Libra Moon at the centre is just…. very Light-ish)
Tumblr media
(especially that his Moon would already have some Scorpio influence in this one) (But Gemini MC sounds… unlikely)
So I think his radix would either look like this:
Pisces Sun, House 2Libra Moon, House 9Pisces with Aries Mercury, House 2Pisces Venus, House 2Sagittarius Mars, House 11Pisceswith Aquarius Jupiter, House 2Sagittarius Saturn, House 11Sagittarius Uranus, House 11/12 (I’m sure it’s 12)Capricorn Neptune, House 12Scorpio Pluto, House 10/MCTaurus with AriesLunar Node, House 3Taurus Lilith, House 4/ICGemini Chiron, House 5Taurus with AriesPholus, House¾ (maybe IC)
or this:
Pisces Sun, House 6/7 Libra with Scorpio Moon, House 2Pisces with Aries Mercury, House 7Pisces Venus, House 7Sagittarius Mars, House 4/ICPisces with Aquarius Jupiter, House 6Sagittarius Saturn, House 4/ICSagittarius Uranus, House 4/ICCapricorn Neptune, House 4/ICScorpio Pluto, House 3Taurus with Aries Lunar Node, House 8Taurus Lilith, House 9Gemini Chiron, House 10/MCTaurus with Aries Pholus, House8/9
All this stuff in IC would explain a lot and I like that this puts his sun in the 6th House.
As for Misa:
Tumblr media
(I’m pretty sure that’s what her radix would look like) (& I’m at least 90% certain that her AC would be Gemini)
Capricorn (with Sagittarius, btw, which is pretty important - she doesn’t have much of a Capricorn) Sun, House 7Aquarius Moon, House 9Sagittarius Mercury, House 6/7Aquarius Venus, House 9Aquarius/Pisces (it’s at 0°00in Pisces with the time of birth I chose, haha) Mars, House 10/MCCapricorn with Aquarius Jupiter, House 8Scorpio Saturn, House 6Sagittarius Uranus, House 6/7Capricorn Neptune, House 7Scorpio Pluto, House 5/6Taurus Lunar Node, House 12Aries Lilith, House 11
Gemini Chiron, House 12Aries Pholus, House11
So, deciding on Near’s Rising sign was probably the most difficult one for me. But I think it’s, probably, an Earth sign - like his Sun. I considered Aquarius, for example, too, but he’s already an Aquarius Moon and I think most of what I see in him of this sign is pretty much covered by this. And he also has a strong Leo influence either way… (I think he was born late into the day - after 6 pm - for various reasons, so I’d put his AC anywhere form Capricorn to Taurus) (Oh, and I think he was born somewhere in Great Britain, but I could be wrong) This is with Taurus:
Tumblr media
(As you can see, he has lots of Capricorn influence regardless)
Virgo Sun, House 5Aquarius with Scorpio Moon, House 11Leo with Aries Mercury, House 5Leo Venus, House 5Virgo Mars, House 6Leo Jupiter, House 5Aquarius Saturn, House 10/MCCapricorn Uranus, House 9Capricorn Neptune, House 9Scorpio Pluto, House 6/7Capricorn Lunar Node, House 9/10 (maybe MC)Capricorn Lilith, House 9Leo Chiron, House 4Cancer Pholus, House4
Tumblr media
(Yeah….. looks a bit extreme, but I like how his AC looks here, especially because of the Aquarius, Pisces and Moon influences)
Virgo Sun, House 7Aquarius with Scorpio Moon, House 1/RisingLeo Mercury, House 7Leo Venus, House 7Virgo Mars, House 8Leo Jupiter, House 7Aquarius Saturn, House 1/RisingCapricorn Uranus, House 12Capricorn Neptune, House 12/1 (maybe Rising)Scorpio Pluto, House 9/10 (maybe MC)Capricorn Lunar Node, House 1/RisingCapricorn Lilith, House 12Leo Chiron, House 7Cancer Pholus, House 7
On to Mello:
We don’t know where he was born, but I chose Slovenia for his birth place:
Tumblr media
(And I think this fits him pretty well! Especially Sun in House 9 and all those luminaries in House 10 opposing his Moon - and Jupiter - in House 4, lol)
Sagittarius Sun, House 9Cancer Moon, House 4Capricorn Mercury, House 10/MCAquarius Venus, House 11Scorpio Mars, House 8Cancer Jupiter, House 4/ICCapricorn Saturn, House 10/MCCapricon Uranus, House 10/MCCapricorn Neptune, House 10/MCScorpio Pluto, House 8AquariusLunar Node, House 11/12Scorpio Lilith, House 8Cancer Chiron, House 4/ICGeminiPholus, House 3/4 (maybe IC)
Tumblr media
(But, imo, Leo Rising is just as likely, my Sun is in the 5th House too and I can see some of what this means in him) (Also, Aquarius DC sounds like him too)
Sagittarius Sun, House 5Cancer Moon, House 12Capricorn  Mercury, House 6Aquarius Venus, House 6/7Scorpio Mars, House 5Cancer Jupiter, House 12Capricorn Saturn, House 6Capricon Uranus, House 6Capricorn Neptune, House 6Scorpio Pluto, House 4/IC (this would explain a lot)AquariusLunar Node, House 7Scorpio Lilith, House 4/IC (this too)Cancer Chiron, House 12GeminiPholus, House11
And….. I’ll stop here, but you can always ask me about other characters too (or to go more in-depth), if you want to! I won’t get tired talking about this, no matter how pointless it might be, haha.
