Tarquin chuckles, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "I have a feeling that you were just as passionate about saving them in the end." he says, shaking his head teasingly. Her quirks are one of the things he appreciates most about her, the fact they sometimes verge on the bizarre. "Oh, I'd never think you're blowing smoke. You've always been pretty straightforward, Em. Even when-" we were together. "Even when you're drunk. More so, actually. It's quite impressive." Tarquin grins, a virtual pat on the back given to himself for the quick save.
Her laughter is infectious, and as they move to the dance floor, Tarquin matches her energy with his own enthusiastic moves but the gifs are really hard to keep finding lmao. "You're going to regret that perspective, because now you're going to lose terribly." he replies, his grin widening as he doesn't care what the two of them even look like as they dance strangely with one another. Their energy could always match one another's and Tarquin watches her dance, noting how the alcohol loosens her up, making her more vibrant, more…Emine. It's the most he's seen her smile for quite some time, and he hopes that at least some of her brighter expression is because of him.
When she touches his forehead to mimic the Rambo tie, Tarquin feels a familiar spark. It's a simple gesture, but it brings back a flood of memories. He can’t help but smile, even as she quickly pulls her hands away and now his hand hovers closer to her arm, a tentative motion that he can't bring himself to either complete or pull away. "I won that, hands down. He tried doing the Russian...kicky dance thing and kicked over the chocolate fountain." he calls over the music, the lyrics still being blocked out to the best of his ability. Tarquin glances around them, and the turn over one of his shoulders finally brings his hand to rest against her arm. "There's not enough bloody space here or I'd do it." he laughs, looking back to Emine and his hand gently moves again with a brush away from her. "Then again, my knees aren't quite what they used to be either. Think I inherited Archie's bones."
Emine rolls her eyes, a smile still on her lips. It's easier to exist around Tarquin when she's had a few drinks. At least she's not nervous about saying the wrong thing. They may be friends now but Emine is a chronic overthinking, and even the boundary of where friendship ends and something else begins is a gray line she's trying to toe. "She would probably. Or an ant. When we lived together, you know how many ants we saved?" Too many to count. Good thing for practical spells that kept their apartment clean and the ants alive but outside. Emine nods,"Right, that would be weird," she laughs a bit too hard and lifts her drink, taking a hearty sip, finishing it off. The hum of alcohol is welcome as they continue talking, limbs looser by the second. "But I'd let you know so you know I'm not just, you know, blowing smoke." Because for some reason that's important to her?
She chooses not to think of it as they dance, a wide grin on her lips as she shakes her head. "I wouldn't want you to. I wanna know I won a dance off fair and square. It's the only kind worth winning." Emine chimes over the music, laughing brightly at his jig, doing one of her own now, body swaying as she vibes to the music. She doesn't even register the lyrics, moving closer to hear him over the beat. "Oh! Yeah." The witch nods, "he was sweating up a storm by the end and," Emine laughs, "he had his tie around his head by the end," she reaches up unthinkingly, drawing her hands across his forehead to illustrate the tie's placement. "like he was Rambo." Tarquin had shown off exactly why he was often considered the life of the party where he went – unafraid to engage with anyone and everyone. She blinks after a second, realizing her hands are on his face and retracts them, swaying a bit to the music. "I can't remember, did you win?" she returns attention to the story, rather than their proximity or the lyrics that somehow become crystal clear now.
