Did you guys notice the total lack of Hollina from me for FIVE MONTHS??? No? just me? Goddammit x’D I am NOT kidding though, last time I did any Hollina was in September 2020. This will not stand!

So, I decided to do this manip which took me roughly 6 hours.

Let’s have my most popular original post each year starting with the beginning:

2013: A non-disney ship no one asked for, but I still ship it and love it. Anastasia is my google avatar still. Odette/Anastasia might be a ship with only me and some folx from a decade ago but it’s still great. Have some ancient AMVs I am probably never gonna get over because goddamn, they’re great. [link] [link]

Tiana/Ariel has some A+ ship dynamics that include being obnoxious. I also really like this art still too despite the anatomy fails.

I love this ship but this art, not so much. Ariel/Belle is adorable and I should redraw this now that I do a little bit better at anatomy.

Esmerbelle is a wonderful ship and like 3 steps away from being canon.

Two very different settings and plotlines but they’re actually really similar characters, both family driven and very responsible

This is probably my favorite bit of art on this list still. Tiella is a god-tier ship and peak elegance.

Similarly sleeping warrior is also excellent and has a great dynamic.

Descendants was really fun and I wish I could dance with my girlfriends right now.

Any thoughts on Elstrid (Elsa/Astrid)?

My thoughts on how their relationship starts out change drastically depending on how old they are when they meet.

If they meet as teens I think that Elsa would be incredibly awestruck and shy about her crush on Astrid, this indestructible woman who inexplicably has taken an interest in her of all people. Astrid for her part, is not very in touch with her feelings and is very suspicious of Elsa, knowing that she’s hiding something from her. Of course this all would come to a head when Astrid finds out about Elsa’s magic, which she thinks is the coolest thing ever.

That’s when she figures out that maybe she actually likes Elsa and Elsa is pretty badass actually.

If they were to meet as adults I think that the roles would be reversed a bit. Elsa is pretty secure in herself by the end of Frozen 2 and Astrid would be fumbling about how to ask out a literal goddess. Elsa of course just thinks this whole fumbliness is cute.

Astrid is shocked when she finds out that not only was Elsa aware of her feelings but also she returned them. It doesn’t really make sense to her that Elsa wouldn’t say anything and just wait for the viking to catch up but Astrid doesn’t waste her time getting bothered about that. She’s too busy being happy.

Anastasia/Belle Ship Meme

How differently do they think of each other now compared to when they first met?

When they first met, both thought the other was unbearably stupid and annoying albeit in very different ways. Belle thought Anya was uneducated and horribly unnecessarily coarse and Anya thought that Belle was thoughtlessly pretentious. In some ways they were right about each other but they were both missing the forest for the trees. Anya is undereducated and has little patience for books or anything that she percieves as speaking down to her and Belle is careless and insults people without thinking about it, particularly when she’s upset.

Belle is the first of them to realize she is probably wrong when Anya quotes Tolstoy at her. Belle asked Anya when she’d read Tolstoy which left the Russian confused. Belle eased up on her classicism and realized that Anya actually has some pretty interesting thoughts and then the two started to bond.

What do their friends/family think of their relationship?

Maurice is concerned that Anastasia is going to be a bad influence on his daughter but is very happy that his daughter at least has a friend now, besides the bookkeeper. 

Pooka loves Belle. He loves everyone Anya loves, even before she does.

How do their personalities/skills complement or contrast with each other?

Both Anya and Belle are solipsistic, tetchy, opinionated people at the starts of their movies. They come from very different and contradictory backgrounds, but what they want is very similar. Both of them feel very isolated by their communities. Belle because she doesn’t fit in with what the villagers think a beautiful woman should want and no one listens to what she wants, Anya feels very similarly, having had her life in poverty planned out since being put into an orphanage and being told to be grateful for it. 

Their commonalities aren’t immediately obvious to anyone but as they find each other in Paris, they discover them together and find the companionship they were looking for in each other.

What is their favorite aspect of each other?

Anya’s favorite aspect of Belle is her sly sense of humor. Belle loves that Anastasia challenges her to think for herself.

Do either of them have pet peeves about each other?

This has already been touched on but Belle is a classicist and has some classist tendencies. Anya wasn’t given the same educational opportunities that Belle was with Maurice and has a bit of a chip on her shoulder because of it. Belle sometimes has a tendency to bring out dead people instead of making her own points and Anya hates the in-authenticity of that. Anya responds to this by being very argumentative and playing devil’s advocate to actually access what Belle does believe and scratch an itch and Belle can hardly stand it. 

In addition to playing devil’s advocate, Anya can be very immature to a degree that makes talking to her sometimes difficult.

How would each reconcile with each other after a fight?

They’re basically always arguing to a degree where no one can tell if they’re actually insulting each other or flirting. When they’re being nice and polite to each other they’re probably not in a great place.

What would be their ideal vacation getaway together?

Paris, visiting Anya’s Grandmama and Sophie.

Think of a new way (AU, different situation, etc.) they could have met for the first time.
