It's fun thinking of the next year's content. I want to put a spotlight on a handful of non-GW games with Box Reviews, Rules videos, Expansion Gloss Overs, Battle Reports for multiple games and campaigns, and other related content to the games that I can think of like Lore vids etc.
These games would be Fallout:Wasteland Warfare, Gaslands, Don't Look Back, and Monsterpocalypse!
I do want to do some Warcry Batreps too, but GW isn't getting the rest of the nine yards that the other games are getting cause everyone knows GW pretty well and I think the other games deserve some love and respect!

Traumerei wasn't just being bitter or referring to a comparative lack of skill from said "loser" Towerborn followers when he said this. We know that administrator tests are reserved for Irregulars and that those were the only kind of tests to exist back when the Great Warriors were climbing the Tower. So the only reason they could have had "Regular" companions on their climb would have been by the GW's asking for them to be allowed to take part in the administrator tests as well. Meaning the only reason they got to climb the Tower would have been quite literally due to the GW's interceding on their behalf.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(All of these are from Tower of God #59)
Which makes the as of yet nebulous but brutal backlash they got for closing the "gate" decidedly less "Zahard and co. taking away the Towerborns freedom and choice so of course they lashed out" and more "GW's decided they were calling quits so the people they were allowing to tag along (and likely hard - carried there) threw a violent tantrum" (Not to mention the way it revealed the superficiality of their adoration, lasting only for as long as the GW's acted as they wanted them to).
To me at least, whom I can acknowledge as likely to be less charitable towards these people than someone whose favourite characters do not include Zahard and Traumerei.
However, given how clear the story has been on the whole "climbing the Tower corrupts a person" theme, I'm decidedly less enarmoured with the primary argument characters in-universe and the fandom bring forth against how sealing the 135th floor was not only the wrong choice but also somehow inherently morally abhorrent that amounts to "keeping the climb going is paramount! For...reasons!" ('Bc that used to be their goal?' Well, they clearly received some form of new information that changed their minds and was likely part of what was decried as "falsehoods" by Arlen. Fair to disagree with, but not to the point of immediate violence against former comrades. From what (admittedly very little, but clearly traumatic) we got, it doesn't seem like there was any kind of debate but rather immediate violent lashing out against the very news. Given that it's one of Thee formative incidents in the GW's (or at least Traumerei's) growing dissassociation from Towerborn and, more importantly, doubling down on their choice to keep the gate sealed, I also think it's intended that they were the sympathetic party in it, who were truly unjustly wronged). Nevermind the fact that we don't even know why the GW's decided to seal off the floor.
So while I can certainly understand and symphatize with e.g. Amizu's declaration that she deserves to know the truth about the matter, I disagree with the perspective that the GW's deprived the Towerborn of their god - given right to climb floors, when it's the very opposite. If it wasn't for the GW's, said people wouldn't ever even have gotten close to said "gate", much less learned of its existence, so when they then lash out at being "deprived" of it against the very people that got them to this point, it's not a good look. I can perhaps understand a sense of betrayal over this seemingly sudden change of course, but immediately back - stabbing them? And we know it was sudden and a seeming shock, not the escalation of previous discontent and disagreements that were communicated. "The people who worshipped us like gods while we climbed the Tower suddenly turned against us once they found out that we closed the gate."
We also basically know that these people (the ones who "bombarded [them] with curses and committed the most beastly atrocities") were the the ones who joined with Arlen and V in proto - F.U.G., going by what Amizu is saying in response :"I don't forgive them for that they did...But ultimately I belong with them because we share the same goal. That's why I first agreed to join you all" as she's leaving to join Arlen and V (Joined the Zahard faction bc she couldn't forgive them, but ultimately shares the same goal with them and now leaves to join them. Highly unlikely that these people wouldn't be part of the V and Arlene faction and just some nebulous third thing when the one thing we know about them is that they wanted the gate not closed, which just so happens to be proto - F.U.G.'s goal as well). Which feeds into the perceived plausibility of an upcoming plot - point and the way it was accepted very neatly as well.
(I also disagree with the arguments that what they climbed was only a small part of the Tower or of a multitude of further floors waiting above, since it would be very weird to me from a narrative standpoint? I think it's likely that the 135th floor is either the last one, or already the way "out" to the top. Otherwise, why the huge fuss about this floor specifically, not to mention the huge amount of story leading up (and not even anywhere close) to reaching it? The HUGE and central plotlines surrounding its key? It seems far likelier that they did truly "finish" climbing the Tower, as Traumerei said, and anything further would no longer be climbing further floors but exiting the Tower, one way or another)

I'd dug it up earlier to send to someone as it had been relevant in conversation recently, so may as well post it here too; a lil bit of CatLore(tm) for my main Warhammer Army; the Knights of Noble House Valere.
When I decided that it would be healthy for me to try to partake in physical hobbies more often rather than spending all my free time online and having almost exclusively online friendships, the first thing I went to try was Warhammer. I'd been trying to get into it for nearly a decade and I've always loved my funny little minis and models so it was the most obvious choice to me, especially being that I'd just been given a new 3d printer I could make terrain and models with. However, this came with a small issue; I didn't like the style of the models I already had as much as I used to. Which meant I needed to browse through which factions 40k had to choose from, and find something with an aesthetic I did enjoy.
What I found that i liked was the Imperial Knights and Grey Knights.
First, some official lore as Context;
Imperial Knights are huge mechs owned by influential families called Noble Houses. Before the founding of The Imperium of Man wherein the God-Emperor took the Golden Throne, the Noble Houses were some of the first humans to leave Terra and colonize the galaxy in an event referred to as The Long March. For the purpose of this colonization, they built huge agricultural mechs with chainsaws that could reave forests for lumber, explosives that could level mountains for construction, etc. Of course, these tools were repurposed into weapons of war. The mechs were equipped with armour that can withstand a nuke and autocannons that shoot shells wider than a man is tall. The planets colonized by these Noble Houses are referred to as Feudal Worlds. When the Age of Strife began and humanity lost a significant portion of the knowledge required to create and upkeep their most advanced technologies, contact between distant worlds was also lost. Many Feudal Worlds that were isolated from this regression have yet to be rediscovered by The Imperium.
Grey Knights are the God-Emperor's Special Boys who live on Saturn's moon Titan in a Grand Fortress-Monestary. unlike other chapters of space marines, there are only every 800 Grey Knights at any one time, and every single one of them is a psyker and has mad wizard powers. They also all wear ~Special Boy~ armour that's been sanctified and blessed with Mystical Rituals that makes them harder to kill than your average Space Marine. They exist only to fight invasions of the Daemon forces of Chaos, and will take any measure to do so. The whole thing is very edgy and they try very hard to be cool.
Unfortunately, the rules of warhammer40k don't normally allow one person to use models from two different factions in their army at the same time, and doing so is referred to as a "Soup Army" which is generally very frowned upon by the gaming community. Regardless, I happen to be and continue to be a fool of a kitty that likes my funny little Knights, and what I wanted to do was run an army that's made half and half of the two factions I like.
That begs the question though; Why would these two factions be fighting together? the Grey Knights are Daemon Hunters, and as such only fight against those corrupted by Chaos, and while the Noble Houses of the Feudal Worlds which have been rediscovered by The Imperium do fight alongside The Imperium, they don't do so Often or Consistently. (And, by game rules, while any imperium army is permitted to field either one large or up to three small Imperial Knights models, that isnt enough for me)
While I do like the Imperial Knights official lore, I'm pretty neutral on that of the Grey Knights (as much as I do like to make fun of them, the idea of an order of paladins that'll show up anywhere, anytime to lay the smackdown on some demons is pretty cool). So, my solution to that question was; What if they aren't Grey Knights? Any military that's fielding gigantic irreplaceable Death Mechs is also going to employ footsoldiers, aren't they?
The Knights I paint and play are of the Noble House Valere, one of the many to take part in The Long March and the many to still be isolated following the Age of Strife. The House, however, has not been idle in it's isolation. From the time contact was lost in the 25th millennium House Valere has continued to make technological progress, re-engineering the systems utilized in their great Knights to smaller and more compact forms, to create Exosuits in which even an untrained wearer could rival a Space Marine in combat. While this is surely impressive, the real feat of innovation achieved by Valere's researchers is undoubtedly their progress in harnessing The Warp. Normally only Psykers would be able to utilize the reality-bending power of The Warp, however the continued study and research between the 25th to the 41st millennium has seen these researchers engineer methods for machines to make use of The Warp, and integrating this into the Exosuits of House Valere's Knights allows every one of their footsoldiers to wield the power of a Psyker.
The current Standing Army of House Valere, which is to say the models I currently have (though many are currently unpainted), numbers at six Knight Mechs, one Armoured Troop Transport, and seventeen Exosuit Soldiers.
In Game Terms that's;
one Knight Preceptor, two Armiger Helverins, and two Armiger Warglaives for 1,000points of Imperial Knights,
one Nemesis DreadKnight, one Brother-Captain, one Brotherhood Champion, one Razorback, five Terminators, five Grey Knights, and five Purifiers for 1,000points of Grey Knights,
which all together makes a happy Tournament-Standard sized army roster of 2,000points.
Tumblr media
House Valere's age of peace is not to last much longer, as the universe permits none to escape it's wrath and there are a great many who, whether for Tech-Heresy, claims of territory, or simply Hunger, would see The House's citizens dead.
As a footnote; I do want to clarify that when i wrote this i felt like an absolute madwoman and it seemed very Chuuni / "9th-grader's Overpowered Self-Insert OC" but fuck it cringe is dead, I'm having fun, and others have said its neat so im keeping it.

Apparently I'm not done overthinking the Stormlord yet...
One thing I find really neat about Imotekh is that despite being a renowned general, he's actually slightly weaker physically than most of his counterparts.
Obviously the in-game stats =/= lore (rip Skitarii and their ability to shoot literally anything) but if you look at the data sheets, Imotekh has one less wound compared to the generic Overlord, as well as the other overlord characters (Anrakyr, Zahndrekh, and Trazyn). His melee is worse (Strength 6 vs Anrakyr and the base Overlord with 8 or even 12 depending on their weapon. Obyron has an 8. Even Trazyn gets up to strength 7 and GW hates his melee stats specifically). Let's not even get into the Silent King's stat sheet, since he blows everyone out of the water (centerpiece model, so not really a fair comparison anyway).
It just hammers home the disadvantages Imotekh has. His post-biotransference body is worse than his peers because he didn't start out in the same social class at them. He does supplement his own strength with artifacts like his gauntlet, staff, nanoscrabs, etc. but at the end of the day he has what he has. Based on raw numbers, the necrons' best general dies quicker than their historian.
This actually kind of answers one question I had about Imotekh as a character, namely his habit of dueling enemy leaders, then maiming them when he wins instead of killing them. Its a weird choice for a leader who is known as a ruthless pragmatist. Why leave enemies alive to take revenge later? This actually happened with the Black Templars! Imotekh defeated them, didn't kill their leader, then the guy came back and drove Imotekh's ship into a star (pour one out for the Eternal Conqueror, y'all).
I wonder if this is his way of testing himself. He certainly presents it like a "learning opportunity" to his enemies (dude can talk smack like he's trying to take over the WWE), so it's possible he treats these duels as similar opportunities for himself. Idk if it's about surpassing the nobility and their unearned advantages or preparing to take on a very hostile galaxy or both but I'm into it.

a long term goal is to eventually have an alt (as in an oc with lore, with the exception of my halloween mascot) for every elite spec, and optionally a core of each, so i'm trying to get my thoughts organized and. oh my god. my heavy armor roster is BARREN
(some of the characters i've left as core are really there bc they Could spec to one of the elites but i feel like i might get a better idea for a new oc... or bc i just can't think of any elite-specific lore for them)

YAY MORE NON HMSW HCS HOORAY
Like I love the dudes but I love non CCCC characters too........ Maybe a bit more? Idk
ANYWAYS I like thinking that the before. and covered in discontent have a sibling dynamic
Like, tb. is the little sibling that sometimes talks to CiD (older sibling) about stuff he finds interesting and CiD is more than happy to listen to his probably not blood related little brother
I also like thinking that CiD loves telling stories so naturally he admires Announcer (tnlh)

Okay, I'm curious, have you ever watched True Blood?
And if you have, what's your opinion on it?
I watched...I think the first three seasons? Maybe part of season four? I remember liking the first two seasons the most, despite certain things that bothered me (the vampire teeth were in an inadvertently funny/incorrect place, AND they made a 'click' sound when they descended...yeah).
The show made Deborah Ann Woll and Joe Manganiello happen, so bisexuals the world over really owe it something. I loved Lafayette to the point that I didn't care when they just blatantly ditched canon to keep him alive because he was popular but then regretted it because they had no idea what to do with him afterwards. Evan Rachel Wood's character was life changing and her introduction is one of the very few things I remember with 1000% clarity. I never had a strong opinion about the main love triangle. I appreciated the show's commitment to following through on its own lore even when it resulted in something queer (like having erotic dreams about the vampire who turned you) since there's a long history of media simply...not doing that. I think I stopped watching when they introduced something magical that felt a bit too absurd--was it the fairy thing? It may have been the fairy thing. People had enough to worry about in that town and adding fairies felt both out of place and unnecessary (plus the show definitely got weaker as it went on and I was hanging by a thread then anyway). I literally do not remember a single thing Bill ever did or said.
