The cone-shaped roofs of Alberobello's Trulli in Puglia, Italy. Derived from the Greek word Τρούλος (troulos) or dome, these conical limestone structures were erected to evade a tax imposed by the Kingdom of Naples that stated all new construction was to be taxed. The Trulli, being made without mortar, were considered temporary structures with no hopes of surviving the elements and therefore, not taxable. Shadow cyclist. Underwood Road, Sykesville, Maryland. Filming a scene a few years back - a blustery, cold morning, a drone and the ever lovely Underwood road, nestled between cornfields. A great place for a road ride, just off Old Frederick Road in Skyesville, Maryland. Volcanoes National Park, Hawai'i. Clouds racing over Halema'uma'u Crater. The Kilauea Volcano is constantly erupting and one of the best places to see the Caldera is from the Jaggar Museum Overlook (named after M.I.T. Geologist, Thomas A. Jaggar). Despite a stabilized tripod and trying to shield the camera with my body, the winds were so fierce that there is still considerable shake in the time lapse. Papakōlea Beach, Hawaii. The green sand beach located near South Point (the southern-most point in the United States of America) boasts mossy-emerald sand and ,on occasion, fierce winds. A must see spot, the beach is accessible via a hearty hike or true four wheel-drive vehicle. Bring plenty of water and sun protection.
