sometimes i think about beauty standards and how i draw my characters

because the way i draw faces is very limited actually

sure nokrid has a resting bitch face and quinn's eyes are always supposed to be smiling but like. i erase the long noses and the pudgy cheeks and the thick eyebrows and the skin blemishes and the wrinkles. i erase just about everything that makes them look like they could be an actual human, but 'applies to humans' is the one constant of general beauty standards. by making them look like the peak of one era, i am actively making them look worse in others.

i should practice drawing average faces

i! finally drew a good hairstyle for vy! after not acknowledging their existence for so long their old hair just looked weird

it only just occured to me how similar the inital concepts of vy and quinn were. they diverged quite fast, though.

gayarsonist reblogged something with a bit of how to train your dragon's soundtrack in it and now im sad i dont have big beautiful dragon wings on my back and that the closest i'll ever get to that feeling is if i someday get to in-person classes and have to wear a backpack again
