Sample stitching with various shades of our Variegated Colored Sashiko Thread with some samples of no-knots securing in Sashiko. Editing the photo of these colorful stitches reminded me of my father. I used the Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and Conditioner by Soapbox but for the deep conditioner I warmed up Heritage Castor oil and put on my hair in sections followed by the conditioner. Than I microwaved my thermal cap and left on my hair for over an hour. Final result soft hair with little knots or tangles. "DREADLOCK TAKE DOWN" In this video we are showing an area of the clients locs which have sustained quite a bit of damage. This client had been locking for close to 2 years. Another stylist started his locs. So far in this video we have been working on this client for 2 hours and have taken down the right side of his hair. THERE ARE REASONS WHY A GOOD MAJORITY OF THE STYLIST OUT NOW NEED CONTINUINING EDUCATION. This is WHAT YOU TUBE DOES NOT SHOW YOU When this clients dreads were started. His first 2 to 3 rows in the nape area were very small The next 10 rows were significantly bigger than the back row. Around the front perimeter of the clients head, the client had borderline Brother locs/Sister Locs. The locs were so small that a couple literally broke while taking down his DreadLocks. HE SHOULD NOT HAVE PAID FOR SUCH A SERVICE. Its reasons why Licensed Professionals take time and patience when creating your locs. EVERY SINGLE PART, EVERY SECTION MUST BE EQUIVALENT TO ONE ANOTHER Had his Dreadlocks been started correctly he would not have wasted 23 hours and almost $900. It cost more to take these locs down and restart them than it did to start them AND have them maintenanced for almost a year. Money lost due to very negligent start and care. WHY DIDNT HE JUST CUT THEM? Wait til the next set of pictures to see WHY HE DID NOT WANT TO CUT THEM. YOU SHOULD NEVER SIT IN A CHAIR OF AN NONLICENSED HAIRSTYLIST/BARBER. YOU TOO CAN END UP LIKE THIS CLIENT. OUT OF MONEY. OUT OF TIME. OUT OF PATIENCE. A STYLIST LOST A CLIENT AND ANOTHER STYLIST GAINED ONE AND SOME... You can NEVER EVER KNOW 2 MUCH as a stylist or barber. There is ALWAYS room for EDUCATION. THE MORE YOU KNOW, THE MORE YOU GROW, THE BETTER THE BENEFITS YOU SOW.. I am here to share the Sashiko we practice. The majority of people here understand what I am trying to share - the stories developed in the different culture from yours. At the same time, I have numbers of “trolls (haters)” as well. I believe it is because I say what I need to say instead of faking myself to be nice. One may like/study Japanese or Japanese culture, but it doesn’t make them my friend. I want to be your friend, but friendship requires some honesty and integrity. “I study Zen (so I know you more)” is a completely wrongful statement from many perspectives.  ☆ I guess what I am doing now is very against the social requirement to be “successful”. Since my goal is very simple & clear, to pass down the Sashiko with as few unnecessary changes as possible, I say something they do not want to say. Japanese are nice in many ways - however, it may be just them not saying what they really think because they exclude others first. I used to. Now, I prioritize honesty. The Japanese have a word for “Showing side (Tatemae)” and “Hiding Side (Honne)” in what we do/say. It is the same as Sashiko. At the same time, therefore, we developed the culture of making both sides as the “finished side”. It is okay to make knots in Sashiko. However, it is NOT okay to say “people made knots in Sashiko” if you aren’t Japanese. There are artisans who tried their best to improve their skill so they didn’t need knots, and we received that skill.
