Just a thought
My old computer, running Windows XP since 2001, basically growing up with me since I was born in the same year, just completely gave up, leaving uncountable memories inside it. (I actually have photos and stuff backupped luckily, but I'm still pretty sad.)
I've been complaining since the release of Windows 8 that tech aesthetic was becoming too minimal, kept my first phone, a Nokia 6280 and my dad's 6600 and Sony Ericsson k700 in top shape next to my smartphone, because I always loved the colorful backgrounds and icons and sounds, but always got called the "young outside and old inside" by my middle school mates back then.
And now discovering Frutiger Aero and thousands of more nostalgic like me made me discover I'm not alone! I almost cried unironically. what a sappy lil girl I am.
Tumblr media
I made this orb using random Photoshop stamp brushes and looking at most Frutiger Aero wallpapers and layouts. Does winter and FA match? I think they do. Nothing really important but felt like it matched my thought.

nokia 3330 (2001), nokia 6600 (2003), sony ericsson k800i (2006), samsung sgh-e250 (2006), nokia 6303c (2009), samsung gt-b2710 (2010)
Tumblr media
unisef sz-30n cassette player (i can't find an exact year for this one i only found an ebay listing that says 80s but idk), panasonic sl-sv570 cd player (2004), sony walkman nw-e394 (2016 so not rly old but it fits the vibe)
Tumblr media
casio fx-82tl calculator (1998-2001)
random facts under the cut
most of the stuff used to belong to my family members except the pink phone (car boot sale), cassette player (antique store) and mo3 player (my communion present lol)
most of the phones probably work but i don't have chargers for them 💔 but i actually used the newest one for a few weeks in 2022 when i lost my phone. everything else works but the cd player is tragically on its last legs... so i have a new one but its less cunty. also i used the calculator for school for a while but it doesn't have fractions so i stopped. but i might use it again cuz i don't really need fractions anymore
also the sony ericsson phone is really nasty and sticky on the back cuz it has that material that like disintegrates and melts over time... very sad cuz its one of my favourites

I'm with John Rhys-Davies on this.
The 3310 may be Nokia' s legendary "indestructible" model, to the extent that it became one of several "Typical Finland" emojis...
Tumblr media
...but IMO the 6310i is the bee's knees, the cat's pyjamas, the dog's - well, you get the idea.
DD and I both had one - mine black, hers silver, thus avoiding confusion - but she was enticed away by the more advanced tech of the Nokia 6600, with its extra bells and whistles like a camera, colour screen etc...
Tumblr media
...and passed hers on to a friend.
That 6600 has long since gone to its recycling reward, but my 6310i is still going strong and, per the friend, so is hers. All of which says...
Something or other.
*****
I'm a mobile-phone industry Worst Customer - I'll keep my tech for as long as it keeps working, only upgrade when I absolutely have to (like when an important app goes beyond what the phone's no-longer-updating OS can handle), and even then won't chuck stuff out unless it's reached the recycle-only stage.
Hence this photo...
Tumblr media
I'll also emphatically echo John R-D in his praise of the longevity, connectivity and endurance of the Nokia 6310i. Mine gets charged once a week if I remember; otherwise it lasts something like twelve days on standby before making the "Battery Low" peep.
Most of all, it's our house emergency phone.
It'll have power when nothing else does, it'll have a cell when nothing else does, and it'll be a phone when making a phonecall counts for far more than taking pics, playing music or surfing the web.
*****
Did I mention that its connectivity is astonishing?
It gets a cell for me in dead places, when more modern phones go dark.
Tumblr media
And it can also squash spiders.
At least if they're not too big...
;->
Tumblr media
I had to find a picture of this 2017 article again because it's just so iconic.

The most important invention in your lifetime is… The handheld mobile phone technology. Definitely in my lifetime. It wasn’t supposed to get as crazy as it has today. I remember getting one. If memory serves me right, I got the Sony Ericsson T100 first. It was a tiny petite device. What an amazing device that was, however the aspirational device at that time used to be the Nokia 6600. Which I…

Mobile phone in Bangladesh
Mobile phones became popular in Bangladesh in the late 1990s. The first phones were much larger than all modern phones. There was an antenna above the phone, which was quite bulky to transport due to its weight. Technically they  were  called "Brick Phones". There was only one thing you could do with a telephone: make a call. But these phones were quite expensive and owning such a simple cell phone was quite prestigious back then. These phones are no longer on the market.
 Feature Phones
At the beginning of the 20th century somewhat more intelligent telephones came onto the market, the so-called "bar phones" or "feature phones". They are also called  “button phones” in Bangladesh. These phones had the
ability to send text messages, MMS, polyphonic ringtones, FM radio, etc.5mm jack, basic games, bluetooth and some even had a poor quality rear camera. Internet phones are rapidly growing in popularity among the Bangladeshi population. In Bangladesh, mobile phones with basic features were more expensive than first-generation mobile phones while offering many more features. In fact, by then the technology was developing faster, the market was growing and new brands brought new ideas and offerings. MP3 ringtones, MP3 players, movies,
Internet access via WAP, etc.The functionality was also expanded in later generations of internet-enabled phones. At that time, the  Finnish brand Nokia was  the only market leader in internet phones. Mobile phones like the Nokia 3310, 1100, 1110, 3210, 6600 and 2600 have dominated the local and global scene. There are now many other brands that offer high-quality devices at a moderate price. Still, Nokia is still  the most trusted brand in this category.Samsung is another trusted name for  bar phone customers who value consistent quality and durability.
 Smartphone
The first generation of smartphones came onto the market in the middle of the 20th century. Nokia maintained its leading position with its N-series smartphones. BlackBerry was another
respected brand in the first generation smartphone years. Still no touchscreen, apps, etc.and there wasn't much you could do on those devices. Internet access gradually became more popular, but since the arrival of 3G networks in Bangladesh in 2012, this has still only been possible  via the much slower GPRS technology. The first generation smartphones had an excellent design with improved camera quality and more internal storage. Storage of photos, MP3 audio files, MP4 or video files, various ringtones, mobile themes, etc. The main features of these gadgets, in addition to the
, are the ability to make 2G calls, as well as send SMS and MMS.
 Android Smartphone
In late 2008, HTC introduced the first commercial Android phone  called the HTC Dream. In just a year since its launch, Android has begun to completely transform the market. While Apple iPhones were on the market  with iOS, Nokia phones with Symbian or BlackBerry operating systems, Android phones are leaders thanks to the  innovative applications of the Android Store and  the many possibilities they offer.
