POLICE REPORT: School Shooting at NOHS allegedly fires gun on Campus in Dumaguete City [#OnlyOnOneNETnews]

DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- A suspected Grade 7 high school student of Negros Oriental High School (NOHS) allegedly shot inside the campus premises in Kagawasan Avenue on Friday afternoon (October 11th, 2024 at 12:42pm -- Dumaguete local time).

'PMaj. Fortunato S. Villafuerte', who is the deputy chief of police at the Dumaguete City Police Station (DCPS), stated that this incident marks the 1st and only school shooting incident in Dumaguete City. It resembles similar events that have occurred in the United States of America (U.S.A.). This tragic event took place just before the 22nd Buglasan Festival, which is set to happen later in the mid to late-October this year. The suspect, who has not been identified, is a young male teenager living in a nearby town.

He was using a caliber .45 pistol owned by his parents, reportedly fires the gun twice in a classroom without warning. The suspected student shooter is believed to have acted after firing indiscriminately in an illegal manner. Although the exact motive is still being looked into, some students who witnessed the event suggested that the shooter might have held a grudge against a rival. This rivalry could have escalated into intense anger, leading to threats and shouting like hell, possibly fueled by ongoing commotions, harassment and bullying.

The district principal-in-charge at NOHS named 'Mr. Ranjel D. Estimar' denied any connection to the incident, per the captioned social media post in part: "There was no indiscriminate firing that took place inside the school, but the information about a student bringing a gun was properly investigated (by the police) and all concerned were duly processed. Safety and security of all learners, teachers and staff were ensured. The NOHS community wishes to thank all Alumni, Parents, Guardians and stakeholders for your concern", Mr. Estimar noted.

The student being suspected had thoughts about a toy gun, which is way too childish for him in his elementary years. But then, without any warning, he was considered a possible attempted murderer, along with his other serious charges. The gun that belonged to his father was meant for derby purposes, specifically for horse racing outside of the Negros Oriental area.

The pistol was recovered at the scene, but luckily, no one was injured against the suspected student shooter, since he missed the shot theoretically in or outside the classroom window on the 3rd floor.

The only parent of students, especially relatives, will face consequences for their negligence. Within next week, these suspected parent individuals will now be permanently banned, blacklisted and expelled from the NOHS campus due to the incident that occurred over the weekend.

The suspected student, who is ineligible to be detained at DCPS in Cervantes Street, or the maximum security at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Dumaguete City, just only meters away from the Lamberto Lajato Macias Sports and Cultural Complex (LMSCC) to be turned over thru City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in Barangay Tinago for custody.

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) and DCPS are properly conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

If this truly was a thing, it probably originated as a pun on traditional wedding headdress called tsunokakushi, meant to "hide [the bride's] horns of jealousy/selfishness". In those pictures, the horns are OUT baby!

As a side note, the funniest thing to me is to have both the bride and groom in hannya masks. In Noh theater, hannya mask represents a vengeful woman, turned demon-like in her anger. Hence why "brides" and "grooms" in those pics read veeeery much lgbt+ to me ("Harold, they are hannya" xD).
