not to be pushy but... would you tell me 2 or 3 spots that you'd show me when i come to visit? 🥺🥺🥺
okay so for coffee there are a ton of options because we are both iced coffee gals and that’s all i ever try at coffee shops, but my absolute favorite is la colombe and i take everyone i know there when they visit me, so we would start our day off there (in the noho location which is my go-to).
then we would make our way down to to chinatown and either have ourselves a little food crawl or pick a restaurant of your choosing because you cannot go wrong there (toni’s fresh rice noodle and noodle village are some personal faves of mine). then we’d have to get dessert because you can’t go to chinatown and not get dessert.
since you love boba tea, i’m thinking alimama would be perfect because they also have dessert there and the cream puffs are heavenly. or! we could go to tiger sugar for their iconic brown sugar boba. either way, we would have our treats at columbus park for the view.
then after we’ve gotten our sustenance i’d take you to trader joe’s so you can finally experience what it’s like to go there, and maybe we could get stuff for an early dinner picnic? the union square farmer’s market is walking distance from the one i go to so we could check it out afterward and maybe pick up some local honey and fruit wine. we’d walk around the area (i feel like you’d love greenwich village), maybe go into some stores (fishs eddy is adorable).
then we’d take the train to my place and drop off our goods and i’d walk you around the neighborhood. i’m thinking van leeuwen for ice cream and then a dinner picnic at central park. the next day we’d hit up brooklyn because i get the feeling you’d vibe with it ❤️

Obey Me! One Master To Rule Them All! Fic #2
Working Dinner ([MC] x Satan) (Tickle fluff fic!) (Slight angst...?)
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
You had just gotten back from your classes at RAD, and after being swindled out of some pocket money by Mammon, you decided to head straight home to the House of Lamentation.
You got out of your uniform and into your comfy clothes and proceeded to walk through the house, to look for something to do, or someone to hang out with. Lucifer had stayed behind to discuss stuff with Diavolo, Asmo was currently shopping with Beel with a promise of a free mid-meal at Hell’s Kitchen before dinner tonight. You didn’t know where Mammon was, and he was very lucky that you didn’t. Leviathan’s door was closed and you could hear a bit of commentary from the Avatar of Envy himself. Probably live-streaming.
You walk around to the library and see someone sitting on the sofa with piles of research materials and books stacked on the coffee table. And who was sitting and overlooking this massive stretch of knowledge other than the Avatar of Wrath, Satan. He looked deep into what he was doing, so you decided to not disturb him not without an offering for this powerful demon.
You went into the kitchen and began to make some tea. You wonder what tea would be perfect for concentration and focus, but you decided to make some tea that complimented the snacks you bought before Mammon took the rest of your money. After you finished brewing it, you put the teapot, cup with saucer, and snacks on a serving tray you found in one of the cupboards and began to slowly make your way back to the library, it was pretty heavy, but you managed. You walked into the library, to which Satan turned his head with your presence.
“Hmm? Oh, [MC]... what’s all that?” Satan asked, blinking at the array you brought in.
“I was passing through, and noticed you were hard at work, so I decided to surprise you with a little snack and tea… umm, I hope you don’t mind.” You say with a blush and an adorable smile.
Satan gave a small appreciative smile and nodded once. “Well, thank you for this, if only my brothers were as thoughtful as you…” he said as you set, or tried to set the tray down, but there wasn’t any immediate place to put it. “Oh just put it down over there.”
You put it down and went over to Satan, and looked down at his materials. “What are you working on, by the by?”
“I’m doing a research paper on the history of the Devildom in relation to the human world. I always found it fascinating that the House of Lamentation used to be a human world landmark, and was trying to spot similarities of other landmarks here.” Satan explained, a glint of excitement in his eye.
“Ah… that’s pretty cool… wait, isn’t that your big research paper that’s due to Diavolo in about 2 months?” You asked, crossing your arms.
“Yes, I like to get my assignments over and done with as soon as possible.” Satan said, sipping his tea, “Mmm, very good choice of tea.”
“Oh thank you… w-wait, when did Diavolo give you that task? One… two… maybe three days ago?” You tilt your head a bit.
“... He assigned it to me today, during our student council meeting.” Satan said as he began to write down references in bibliography format.
“Satan… you better not over work yourself… it’s due in 2 months, you’ve got time.” You pouted.
“I know, but why put off something today that you’ll regret tomorrow?” Satan shrugged as he kept writing.
“I mean… I guess, but just remember to take breaks…” you said.
“I’ll be fine, I appreciate the concern, but you don’t need to worry about me.” Satan reassured. “It’s nothing I haven’t done before.”
“Excuse me?” You questioned, raising a brow.
“I said it’s nothing. I thank you for the snack and tea, but I have to get back to work…” Satan snapped almost immediately, shooing you away. He obviously didn’t think you would catch that.
And that was it, you reluctantly left Satan to his research, feeling a bit bad, maybe you had annoyed him. Maybe he was right, maybe he did have this. Later that night, at dinner, you noticed that everyone except Satan had joined at the dining table.
“Hey… where’s Satan?” You ask Lucifer.
“He said he had important business to attend to, and that he’ll eat later.” Lucifer said before taking a bite of his food.
“Huh? He’s having a working dinner again? I swear his work habits have got to be bad for your skin…” Asmo sighed a bit.
“He does this a lot, I’m surprised he doesn't do a working breakfast. Could you imagine, falling asleep at your workspace only to wake up to your work unfinished, and unfulfilled? Heh, cause I can’t.” Mammon said as he was eating.
“That wouldn’t be fun at all, but at least his body makes him sleep.” Belphegor shrugged.
“And to not eat while keeping up a work streak too… I couldn’t do it.” Beel said, munching away at what would usually be considered leftovers in the human world.
“I’ve fallen asleep playing a game before… I was mad because I had accumulated 10 hours of just idle game time, I was so mad…” Levi groaned, playing with his food a bit.
“Don’t worry [MC], just let him do his work, the sooner he gets that paper to Diavolo, the sooner he can try to get back on his sleep track.” Lucifer reassured you, but you couldn’t be reassured, you’ve seen what overworking does to a person, you’ve experienced it in junior high. You wouldn’t stand for it, you had to do something to knock some sense into Satan.
Later, after dinner was finished by Beel, you were left to do the dishes, it was hell, but you somehow did it. You went over to the library in order to confront Satan.
“Satan… I need to talk to you…” You said as you trailed off, you saw he had a new cup near him on a spare space of the coffee table. “Is that coffee?”
Satan’s head turned suddenly at the question. “No, it’s black tea with cream and sugar.”
“Satan… I made coffee for my dad plenty of times, I know coffee when I smell it. And you know you’re a tea taker more than you are a coffee drinker. Which brings me to my point… You need to eat and you need to rest.”
“I appreciate your concern, but I’m fine. I promise, I’ll eat.” Satan reassured. Suddenly, you just see a stack of books in front of where your serving tray was. You walk around the sofa and behind the stack of books.
“Your tea is ice cold, and… where are your snacks?” You turned to Satan, going from behind the books and put your hands on your hips. “Did you give them to Beel?”
Satan was caught, he didn’t know why you would be so concerned about him, none of his brothers were, but this situation was certainly very different, it felt like being scolded by a parent. “I’ll neither confirm nor deny that question, please go on to bed.”
“Oh no you don’t, not until I see you eat, and actually eat.” You said, walking over to him, but it happened so fast, Satan stood up and grabbed you by your arm and leg and put you to the floor.
“Or you’ll what, human? I keep saying I appreciate your concern, but now I’m losing my patience with you. If I don’t eat something, then you’ll what?” Satan said with a scowl on his face.
You were a bit scared at how quickly Satan set you down, but you had a secret weapon, and he should have known better than to pin only one of your arms down.
“Well… then you leave me no choice… I have to punish you.” You say, and you suddenly get a devilish glint in your eye. Satan was confused a bit, but when it started happening, Satan had already realized his mistake too late. You reached your free arm up and squeezed Satan’s side, making him squeak uncharacteristically and fall away from your assault.
“N-NoHO! Okay, you made your point, I’ll go eat something…” Satan said, trying to get up and go to the kitchen, as if that would somehow appease you. But he fell back onto the floor with another yelp when you grabbed at his ankle and pulled.
“Ohohoh no no no, we’re way past that point, and since you wanna go and make some threats, how about I follow through with my own threat~?” You say, whenever you got into the tickling mood, nothing could stop you. You pulled Satan closer to you by his ankle and began to tickle his knees, behind and fronts~.
“No! No! NOHOHOHO! Cehease! CEEEEHEHEHEASE!” Satan tried to incur his wrath, but he couldn’t, his laughter and fighting to get away from his assailant overcoming him. But in honesty, he saw where you were coming from. And he couldn’t get mad at you for your wanting to make sure he was okay.
“Nuh-uh. Not until you apologize to me for threatening me~.” You winked as you began to straddle Satan’s waist, squeezing his thighs playfully before the squeezing migrated to his hips and sides.
“NOOHOHOHOHO! Get-GEHET OFF OF MEEEHEHEHE!” Satan squeals as his hips and sides are squeezed and then his arms shot down when you got to his armpits!
“Oh no, my hands are stuck, whatever shall I do~?” You tease in a monotonous voice as your hands are trapped in Satan’s pits, but that didn’t stop you from wiggling your hands within them.
Satan really didn’t want to be here forever, cause his pits were a maddening spot, he didn’t want to raise his arms, but he didn’t want to let you go in fear of you getting at a worse spot. “PLEHEHEASE DOHOHOHON’T! AHAHAHAHA! STOHOHOP!” He suddenly shot his arms back up as he held onto the carpet, so your hands could move.
“Hehe, ‘don’t stop~?’ Well then, I guess I won’t anytime soon~.” You tease as you lift Satan’s shirt up and expose his abs and stomach. “Hehe, I absolutely love it, you could crush someone’s head with your thighs while reading an encyclopedia, just because you can.” You say as you lower your head down and blew a raspberry into his abs and navel, earning you an octave you’ve never heard from Satan.
“GAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA! STA-STAHAHAP! Okay! OKAY YOU MADE YOUR POIHIHIHINT! I’M SORRYYYY! *snort* PLEHEASE I’VE HAD ENOHOHOUGH!” Satan flailed and blushed a bit when he snorted. But he finally apologized!
You smile as you stopped tickling and straddled his waist, just looking down at Satan with pleading eyes. “Please… take a break… you have been working so hard, you deserve it. I mean, you’ve made a whole two page bibliography of references, that’s a good start.” You say after Satan calmed down from his giggling and panting.
“... Heh… are you sure you’re a human, [MC]? Cause… you’re as devious as a demon… that was a dirty trick…” Satan panted a bit, blushing as he looked up at you.
“No, I’m a human, as far as I can tell.” You said, and then gave Satan a kiss. Now you both were blushing.
“Heheh… you really are something else… Fine, I’ll take my break… but I’m taking it with you.” Satan said as he sat up so you both were face to face.
“Hehe, deal.” You say as you helped Satan up and went with him to make dinner for him, and a second dinner for yourself.
It must have been a good break because Beel woke up early to see if there was any inspiration for breakfast, he passed the library and noticed you and Satan asleep together on the sofa. Beel smiled and moved quickly to get a blanket for you both, draping it over you both before snagging up the plates and began to lick them clean as he continued on toward the kitchen.

hey all!
its been *quite* awhile since i posted a LA guide post, and i really wanna keep it up and running for all of you headed to LA, or in LA & needing new suggestions! because i am a second semester senior i’ve been loading up on my caffine intake  – guys you wouldn’t believe how sitting in a coffee shop doing homework does the trick! – so in honor of my coffee (and matcha, can’t ever forget about that!) vibes here is a grouping of my favorite LA – and greater LA, i even included some pasadena! – places! as always, these wonderful shots have been taken by my sister alix!
in no particular order here we go!
lavender and honey
1383 E Washington Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91104
  This slideshow requires JavaScript.
a small and cute coffee shop in pasadena, the place has AH-ma-ZING toasts (seriously order the L&H toast – you won’t be sorry!) and such a cute little atmosphere. its a super cute and easy place to sit down with your computer or bullet journal and just work and relax enjoying coffee, toast, sandwiches or salads.
groundworks
locations in DTLA, hollywood, venice, noho and the grove
  This slideshow requires JavaScript.
groundworks is a super unique coffee house because it has a total seattle vibe, great coffee and awesome dairy free nut and other milks! their “bitches brew” (their roast!) is insane and my family has picked up some of their bags from whole foods and its an awesome sunday morning brew!
blue bottle coffee
locations in the arts district, echo park, los feliz, dtla and beverly hills
  This slideshow requires JavaScript.
actually, this is one of my favorite places ever. i love the aesthetic, i love the lattes and i love the pastry section (dude their waffles are CRAZY GOOD!) and their cascara fizz is such a good alternative when you don’t feel like coffee.
urth caffe
locations in melrose, beverly hills, santa monica, pasadena and DTLA
  This slideshow requires JavaScript.
urth is an awesome spot to get coffee and matcha (their japanese tea latte IS superior!) and their food is awesome, its great to get brunch their potatoes are the BOMB, their gluten free cereal is BOMB and all of their soups are great! they have a super cute atmosphere and its awesome to sit with friends and catch up.
again coffee
132 W Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105
  This slideshow requires JavaScript.
this is a fairly new spot in pasadena, and has coffee and a few food items during the day and ramen at night! kinda a surprising combo but their coffee AND their matcha is amazing – and GUYS they have a super unique ‘charcoal waffle’ (pictured) it also makes for a super special place – because the environment is super bright – to study and read!
verve coffee
locations in santa monica, melrose and DTLA
  This slideshow requires JavaScript.
the verve in DTLA is SO COOL, they paired with juice served here to make a super cool store so they have a living plant wall (pictured) and its another super pretty place to study or work on your computer (and to get coffee pictures!).
carerra cafe
8251 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
  This slideshow requires JavaScript.
this place is well known for:
a) printing images on their lattes
b) being right across from paul smith (pink wall!)
but its super cool and their matcha is pretty dang good (do you see a theme? i love matcha!) but its a good spot if you are stopping in melrose, but they also have a wall they paint outside now and then so its another great place to stop.
cafe de leche
locations in la and pasadena
  This slideshow requires JavaScript.
i often visit the one in pasadena, but i do really enjoy their outside patio – its perfect for working on your computer and just cranking out the homework.
alfred’s
locations in beverly hills, brentwood, melrose, silverlake and studio city
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
last but not least, BUT FIRST, COFFEE! alfred’s on melrose is iconic, you’ve probably heard about it, or are planning on going. and yes, its GOOD. their latte is great, their kombucha is great, their matcha is great. and thats it!
xoxo!

Has SoHo Become One Big Wellness Pop-Up?
Within a half-mile radius in downtown Manhattan, there are five matcha stores: MatchaBar, Matchaful, Cha Cha Matcha, the other Cha Cha Matcha and Matcha n’ More, which are each less than five minutes apart on foot.
Matcha, a kind of powdered green tea used in Japanese tea ceremonies, has become a popular drink in the wellness scene for its grassy green color and antioxidants. High-end cafes in SoHo like Matchaful blend it with nut milks or spices and sell it for $7, more than the cost of a latte.
At the same time, places that once catered to health-minded New Yorkers before wellness became a buzzword — spots like Souen, Integral Yoga Natural Foods and Angelica Kitchen — are closing. All three opened in the 1970s, when SoHo was home to an artistic and creative community.
In the 1960s and ’70s, the neighborhood was a magnet for artists. Then came fancy shops and French restaurants. Most young artists haven’t been able to afford to live or maintain studios there for the last couple of decades.
Instead there is By Chloe, a vegan fast food restaurant, which sells a quinoa taco salad for $12.45; Brodo, which sells cups of bone broth for $10; the Good Market, which sells pineapple raspberry kombucha organic slushies for $4.50; Welleco and the Nue Co, both supplement stores; the Hemp Garden, where CBD sheet masks sell for $29.99; the Detox Market, where the Vintner’s Daughter Active Treatment Essence face oil is $225; Lululemon and Nike; boutique fitness establishments like Y-7, New York Pilates (three locations), SLT and SoulCycle, where classes are upward of $30.
In early April, Kind, the snack food company, organized a two-day pop-up highlighting its “Sweeteners Uncovered” campaign, which shows hidden sugars in popular snack foods.
This took the form of a high-tech bodega at 579 Broadway, a space that once housed an Aldo shoe store and whose rent for the space Kind declined to share. At the pop-up, the sugar content from Kind’s competitors could be revealed by scanning a QR code.
Some of the few dozen people there bypassed the nutritional information to stuff free plastic fanny packs with free Kind Bars.
The company hosted a pop-up in Times Square two years ago, but Jenna Keplesky, who works in Kind’s communications department, lobbied to move this one to SoHo. “I was encouraging locations that were more cost effective, but Jenna wanted the right brand message,” said Daniel Lubetzky, the chief executive of Kind. “I do think there’s a sense that SoHo is more representative and ahead of the curve in health and wellness in New York City.”
The neighborhood is also known to have a steady stream of foot traffic from New Yorkers and tourists alike, Ms. Keplesky said.
In many cases, fanciful and high-concept pop-ups have followed wellness retailers to SoHo and its surrounding streets.
Blume, which sells self-care and menstrual products marketed to young women and teenagers, had a pop-up at 224 Mulberry Street in NoLIta in February that included a slumber party and panel discussion. The founders, Taran and Bunny Ghatrora, wrote in an email that they chose the location because it is one of their favorite neighborhoods and that a large portion of their New York community is based there.
The condom company Sustain Natural hosted the Get on Top Pop-Up in April 2018 at 208 Bowery, with neon vulva art installations and tampon-filled bathtubs leading into a back event space called the womb.
Meika Hollender, its chief executive, said that foot traffic and a neighborhood affinity for wellness made her choose the Bowery: “There are so many like-minded wellness studios and brands showcasing their products in this area that it felt like a natural opportunity to reach consumers in a fun and accessible way. I mean, who wouldn’t be curious walking past a vagina-themed pop-up.”
Buffy, which makes comforters out of recycled plastic bottles and eucalyptus plants, had a “physical touch-point” called Soft-Space at 150 Wooster Street (where, last year, a penthouse sold for $32.6 million) during the 2018 holiday season. According to a news release for the company, inspiration came from Buckminster Fuller and the hippie modernist movement of the 1960s and ’70s.
Clean Market, a store on 54th Street and Second Avenue that sells natural beauty products and services like vitamin IV drips, has a pop-up in NoLIta at Project by Equinox on Mulberry Street. “We want the downtown crowd to get to know us,” said the founder Lily Kunin one afternoon as she sent an associate on an errand a few blocks north to the Farmer’s Dog pop-up at Showfields at 11 Bond Street.
Currently Showfields has pop-ups decorated with potted plants and pink velveteen chairs from the Australian skin care brand Frank Body and Quip, a dental company that frequently advertises on podcasts. The cafe, called Coffee ’n Clothes, sells miniature cupcakes and lattes emblazoned with the logos of fashion brands. (Showfields, which calls itself “the Most Interesting Store in the World,” occupies a 1913 NoHo building that, before its purchase in 2015 by FRF Realty for $26 million, housed a 43-bed women’s shelter.)
Despite the fact that the store was virtually empty on a recent Monday afternoon, some tenants, who pay a flat fee for space, are pleased with early results.
“What we’ve managed to do in sales in three weeks was greater in total than one of our retail partners who has 13 or 14 doors nationwide,” said Jasmina Aganovic, the founder of Mother Dirt, a skin care line in Boston that has a second-floor space at Showfields. “It’s a sexy location in New York City, and we have a large concentration of customers in New York and Brooklyn in particular.”
Large companies have used wellness businesses as destinations for their own events. OtterBox introduced its Otter & Pop phone cases to press at Chillhouse, a cafe, nail salon and massage studio on the neighboring Lower East Side.
Landlords are enthusiastic about wellness-related tenants, according to Paul Wexler, the head of Wexler Healthcare Properties at the Corcoran Group. “Landlords are generally encouraged by it,” he said. “It’s a way to fill retail spaces, and an amenity to their buildings. There are spaces we’re marketing with that in mind.”
Some smaller wellness businesses are looking to spread brand awareness if they could only find the right space. Justine Monsul, the founder of Monfefo, a beverage company that makes organic pressed ginger and turmeric shots, has been looking for a pop-up storefront.
“Trying to find a place in New York is like winning the lottery,” she said on the phone during a trip to Israel. “I want to share my story and have more of a relationship to my customers. You don’t just want a store, you want an experience. You want some palo santo burning.”
Colette Dong, the co-founder and C.E.O. of the Ness, opened a pop-up trampoline workout studio in nearby TriBeCa in a location that was a Bikram yoga studio. The pop-up lease was “a way to get our feet wet without getting locked into a five- or 10-year lease term and test the demand for it,” Ms. Dong said.
“Will we even have studios in five years?” Ms. Dong said. “Will there be studios to do our online streaming workouts? Will we be working out with robots?”
Maybe best not to commit to anything too long-term.

TeaPop | NoHo
Teapop is a North Hollywood standout for those craving ice-cold boba tea drinks usually found in the Downtown and Koreatown parts of Los Angeles. The menu isn’t limited to tea, though they do have boba, milk, and loose leaf varieties. Coffee connoisseurs won’t be left empty-handed here, as Teapop also brews up Groundworks Coffee in your standard variety of caffeinated offerings.
Aside from the hip boba menu, what makes Teapop really unique is the shop’s art-infused modernist space mirroring that of a full gallery. If you’re looking to elevate the walls in your own home, you might just find what you need hanging on the wall next to you as you drink a ‘Noddy Toddy Cold Brew’. But if not, come back in a few weeks and you’ll see an entirely new collection from a different local artist featured inside the shop.
Outside, you’ll find a relaxing patio that frequently hosts movie nights, workshops, and stand-up comedy sets.  Owner Arlene Yuan told VogageLA, “I wanted the space to bring people together. Our design and branding reflects this. Most of our furniture is communal.”
It’s safe to say there is something for everyone here, whether you want to work on your computer, meet up with friends, or kick back and be entertained at one of their many events. If you’re looking to make your first voyage to Teapop, make sure to note that there is no designated parking lot on site, but metered street parking is available on Vineland and you can often find free neighborhood parking on Hesby and Otsego Street.
