Second request of the day, kinda crazy, I haven’t seen anyone talk about how PRETTY Nobuya Sera is, so I would like to request my boy with crazy eights and two pairs 🤭 (Aoi still number 1 ofc 😮‍💨)

The Couple’s Bet was supposed to get people out of poverty, but truthfully, people treated it as a way to find their soulmates. You definitely wouldn’t have joined if it wasn’t for Mary practically dragging you to join them. As much as you tried, you couldn’t say no to her. Besides, you were going to give in to the temptation to find your soulmate. The way you would find yours was through words you memorized that were tattooed on the underside of your arm. Unfortunately, they did not automatically tell you who your soulmate was. You had to have an impactful moment and exchange with your soulmate; there, the words tattooed on your arm would be spilled.

“As you know nothing of fear, put down your life and see.”

Ominous. You didn’t mind though, at least no one would say the phrase carelessly and you wouldn’t be embarrassed if your soulmate wasn’t actually your soulmate.

When you snapped back to reality, across from you was a pretty blond boy with gray eyes. He isn’t wearing his jacket and he almost looks interested when he spots you. Almost. You didn’t trust any of these boys and you solely wanted their money. None of these people would be your soulmate, you could see. This was boring and you were more focused on your nails than the five boys in front of you. It wasn’t until Mary nudged you to speak that you even remotely moved. Rolling your eyes, you said, “I’m not saying jack shit. All you gotta know is that I’m not going to deal with any of you, I just want your money.”

It was brash, but you had a strategy. Make yourself as unlikable as possible and no one will want to pair up with you, therefore taking away any possibility of you being chosen and becoming a pair. But the first round went by too easily. It was won by them, every single pair chosen perfectly. You had been paired with the blond boy, Nobuya Sera. Glaring at him, you hissed, “There’s no way you won.”

Shrugging, he tilted his head almost innocently. “Why? First time you’ve lost?”

“Oh, please, we both know you’re cheating.” 

“Or is it that you find me so repulsive to be partners with me that you refuse to believe it?”

Storming away to catch up with the rest of the group, you had a plan. Knowing full well there was a traitor, you summed up all the variables and knew who you had to eliminate from the plan. Calculating what she would do, you told Mary everything secretly, knowing that Mary was not the traitor. After all, she wouldn’t have joined this game without some sort of trick up her sleeve. Even when you sat down, the others were looking at you, putting their faith in you so that they could all win.

Nobuya sat across you again. “Ready?”

“You’ll be lucky if you get anything from me.” Turning your head towards the dealer, you continued, “I’m going to ask for a sleepover.”

The boys all gawked. A sleepover was the last resort that anyone would take and here you were, saying it so casually, almost as if you didn’t know what it meant. Nobuya even asked, “Wait, do you even know what a sleepover means?!”

You didn’t move your head but you looked at him from the corner of your eye with a grin. “Yes, of course. Don’t try and doubt me.”

Huffing, he sat down, crossing his arms. “I can’t read you. One second you’re brash and abrasive and the next you’re choosing the most dangerous option with the most innocent look on your face.”

“You’re worried for no reason. Oh wait, I forgot, you could lose all of your money!” Laughing, you shook your head. “Just because we got paired up for one round doesn’t mean anything.”

“You’re risking your life here and everyone in your group’s.”

“Why are you so worried? It’s my life I’m risking. At the end of the day, only I will die if anything goes wrong!” Your eyes were bright with emotion. “I’m not afraid, so why are you?”

Gritting his teeth, Nobuya sat back. “As you nothing of fear, put down your life and see.”

“Fear gets in the way of a victory in a gamble.” 

But the words felt as though they were coming out of someone else when you truly heard them. You two stared at each other for the longest time, not even paying attention to the dealer. You moved out of your own accord, your mouth saying words you could barely decipher yourself. Nobuya felt like the only person in the world. He had said what was tattooed on you. 

He was your soulmate.

The boys ended up losing and Nobuya groaned, slinking in his seat. But then a small smile appeared on his face as he stood up to go over to you. “That was a great game. Didn’t know I’d find my soulmate here.”

“Please, that was dumb luck on your part.” 

“Ouch, still abrasive even with your soulmate?”

You smiled warmly at him as you led him away. The Couple’s Bet definitely put you in a lot of danger, but it also finally gave you the person you needed closure from. Perhaps some gambles were good at times.
