“Oh. Nobottle is nice, very nice. Very, very...” Hivallion mulled a bit. “Very nice.”

“Friendly? They’re very friendly here in the Yondershire,” added Arlen.

“Yes! Absolutely. Very friendly, very nice. Except... Well, please don’t take this the wrong way, but everybody in here is a, er, little folk. A hobbit.”

“Oi, yeah! Yeah, lots of hobbits here in The Shire. Oi, Hivallion,” Arlen said, peering curiously at the elf. “Didn’t you know that?”

“Well, yes, of course—”

“—I mean, if you’ve been living eight thousand years or so and you don’t know the Shire’s got hobbits in it, maybe I ought to be the one tutoring you!”

Hivallion inhaled, attempting a restart, knowing there was no coming back from that one. “I mean, I rather stand out in here, don’t I?”

Tactfully understated; even for an elf, Hivallion stood tall and lean, such that every step he took within The Fox and Fiddle saw him ducking or lifting an arm to protect his head from colliding with some impending rafter. In reality the tavern’s headroom was more than adequate for even the loftiest of folk, but this could be difficult to reconcile amid such low lighting and general merriment. Hivallion already felt a touch woozy and he had yet to drink a single drop.

“You stand out wherever you go, so what? ‘s because you’re so jittery all the time! That just draws even more attention to you, y’know? You’re more nervous than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rockin’ chairs!” declared Arlen. He’d already helped himself to an open chair at a long table, whereupon several others of his ilk were whooping and hollering, knees up without heed to where (or into whose dinner) their feet were landing. “C’mon, Mr. Pellithorn, relax! Have a seat! Have a drink!”

He gingerly maneuvered into the opposite chair, though he had yet to decide on the rest of Arlen’s directive.

“Maybe later,” he said, uneasily absorbing the thuddering vibrations of the tabletop, while a pair of overtly merry hobbits used it as a dance floor. “Will this thing hold? Oh!”

He yelped, narrowly dodging a whirling foot to the septum.

“Yeah, sure!” said Arlen, mid-swig off a nearby tankard, without heed to its original owner, who was no doubt plastered under the table by now. “We build ‘em for this kind of thing, nice and sturdy. Look. Oi. Don’t you feel better now? Not stickin’ out so much when you sit down.”

But even while seated, Hivallion still rose head and shoulders above the others; it was no use.

“I suppose,” he conceded. “Maybe I’ll feel better after a little pie.”

Distinguishing Features: Freckles that fade in the winter time, and a long scar behind his left ear.

Accessories: A silver ring he'd found in East Farthing when he was a child (and kept since he thought it to be from the elves). Back then he wore it on a necklace, but now he wears it on his middle finger.

Personality, Relationships and Hobbies

Personality: 

Messiam, by all accounts, is first and foremost the kindest and most inclusive Hobbit in Buckland(if not the Shire). He's friendly to all he meets, and to him it's not from being polite: he deeply cares about all that lives under the sky. He'd happily make a friend out of everyone he meets, no matter who it may be, and makes sure to help those struggling physically/emotionally in any way he can. Above all else, he strives to be a glitter of light in the lives of everyone he meets.

Though you wouldn't expect it from him at first, Messiam lives in a constant series of calculated risks. While he may not be a Took -impetuous with unending energy- he is a Brandybuck. Once he decides that his actions won't put others in any serious danger, there's remotely nothing that can stop him.

However, he also struggles with this heritage. Being a Brandybuck meant that you'd be constantly watched by those who knew. A life-long audience waiting for you to give them a reason to see you as unrespectable. Messiam was sure that if he were to even sneeze improperly, everyone from Nobottle to Bree would hear of it. 

Relationships:

Messiam is one of Primula Brandybuck's many siblings, making him Bilbo's cousin. As children, they'd run around the Farthing Woods in search of wild animals and fantastic creatures. They grew a tad distant after they turned of age (Bilbo looking after his family, and Messiam running his Bakery), but still visit each other regularly.

As one could guess, being a baker means seeing lots of people every day. Whether they're regulars or newcomers, Messiam always gets a certain sense of what kind of person they are. The best way to learn about someone is through their tastes, and he just so happens to be in that business. His baking has earned him invitations to family gatherings, and even courtship offers.

Messiam deeply values intimate platonic relationships. The bond two people can share without romance has always been something he admired, and appreciated, since he's never felt the desire to court someone. Not once had he longed for romance, nor had he given thought of the day where he'd potentially wed a beautiful lady. It just… didn't seem very enjoyable. Of course, the older folk found this quite odd; perhaps he was just being patient? Or maybe he was a bachelor? The theories are endless, but he remains unbothered. 

Hobbies:

Messiam's always been an avid reader. Even when he was just a wee little tot, you'd be able to find him in some odd place with a book in his little hands. This sparked an adamant love for learning, earning him vast knowledge of flora, fauna, and different languages. One day he hopes to write a book of his own, to add one more bundle of knowledge for the world to enjoy.

As every other hobbit does, Messiam can't resist a good song, and can play a few instruments. His favorite instrument by far is his Ocarina.

Messiam also loves drawing! His journals are filled with sketched portraits of random hobbits, and different plant life. While his drawing has many different uses, his favorite journals are full of organized identification/fact pages, all about whatever specific plant he'd become fixated on at the time.

                    dwarves were not an uncommon sight in the shire ; the great east road, that connected the blue mountains to the dwarven kingdoms in the far east, did go through the fertile land of the hobbits after all. what was more surprising was to see one of them on the road to the south farthing and longbottom, when they would have to take the fork through hobbiton and from there nobottle and tighfield. annarose supposed it would be better to stop the warrior before he got all the way to cardolan and then lond daer. "excuse me, master dwarf ?" she felt incredibly small next to him— dwarves were strong, she knew, but his heavy armor only added to his bulk.
