Employer mandate - REPEAL

OBAMACARE Requires larger companies to provide affordable insurance to their employees, or face financial penalties.

SENATE BILL Eliminates the penalties.

Taxes created under the Affordable Care Act - REPEAL

OBAMACARE Imposed new taxes to help pay for coverage expansion. They include taxes on investment income, wages above $200,000, medical devices, prescription drugs and indoor tanning.

SENATE BILL Permanently eliminates most of the taxes. A tax on high cost employer health plans, established under Obamacare, but yet to kick in, would be imposed beginning in 2026.

Subsidies for out-of-pocket costs - REPEAL

OBAMACARE Provides subsidies to help people with lower incomes pay for out-of-pocket costs like deductibles and co-payments.

SENATE BILL Preserves the subsidies through 2019, then eliminates them altogether. This means many low-income people would face high deductibles.

Essential health benefits - CHANGE

OBAMACARE Requires all insurers to offer 10 categories of essential health benefits, like maternity treatment and hospital care.

SENATE BILL Preserves this rule, but states could apply to waive the standards. This means that some types of care, like maternity benefits, prescription drugs or addiction treatment, might not be covered in states that waive the rule.

I try not to get too political on here, but this is scary, very scary; and I'm not just scared for me, but am terrified for all the wonderful people I've met that might actually die if they lose their health insurance. Call Speaker Ryan at (202) 225-0600 and tell him that repealing Obamacare and expecting the AHCA to be an adequate and/or ethical replacement is not acceptable and will harm millions of Americans. I actually spoke to a real person for the first time in all my attempts, so if that makes you anxious, prepare a script for yourself or find a friend who can speak for you. Flood the phones at your state rep’s office AND Speaker Ryan’s. Make your voice heard. We’ve gotten other heinous bills rejected in the Senate and we can do it again. What Jesus would have to say about the AHCA (Trumpcare)

217 Republicans passed to take away healthcare from Millions! Under this bill if it becomes law it will take away health coverage from those with PREEXISTING conditions. It puts a high tax on the elderly. It strips away medicade it defunds Planned Parenthood where majority of their work is cancer screenings  STD testing, contraceptives (like condoms and birth control) and sex education. They DON’T provide abortions but they may give resource because federal funding does not go towards abortions anyways. With the ACA (Obamacare) I was able to afford all of my medications. 3 of those medications are life saving because I am asthmatic. The highest cost of my medication was $50 while without the ACA it would have been $359. Don’t claim to be Pro Life if you support the AHCA because the AHCA screws over every person who has a pre exisiting condition, every child with special needs, and every person who is middle class or even living at the poverty line and many people will Die under this bill. Don’t call yourself a Christian if you support  Trumpcare. Jesus would have been against Trumpcare.

Selected photos from the protest against Trumpcare on March 22nd. My attending was a last minute thing after already being in the neighborhood so I wasn't prepared to attend in my official capacity for FARSJ. Still, there were many holy moments, and I wanted to share them. (More coming later.)
