Something about the way Ed hits the stairs in the second gif just lands different. The double impact of his back hitting the stair before he lands on his ass, the weight of it all, really makes it feel like it hurts. It adds so much to the emotions in this scene. Hats off to the animators cause this is a hard thing to do right.
