HIII. I am going to watch Toto Wolff (team principal of Mercedes F1 team) | Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and thought I'd do a little 'live' post of parts that stuck out to me (all personal so I might miss a lot of it) (this is also going to be LONGGG 😂)

The first thing that I already love is how comfortable the whole vibe is between Dax, Monica & Toto. Dax & Monica are the kind of ppl who can make anyone feel comfortable in their presence. I love how casual the talk between them is to start because it lets you know that; although this is going to be a 'deep dive' sort of podcast episode, there won't be any sort of uncomfortableness when it comes to those deeper topics/areas.

I LOVE DAX, because you can tell he did his research on Toto. He talks about how he only discovered the day of the filming that Toto isn't actually Austrian, his mother is Polish and his father was Romanian. He goes onto ask Toto whether his parents grew up in Austria, which leads to a really insightful dive into Toto's parents' lives and their own backstories.

I LOVE HOW MUCH DAX LOVES SUSIE (who he got to speak w on the phone quickly as she called Toto during the episode)

I always find it incredibly admirable when Toto shares the hardships of his childhood as well as the turmoil he felt when it came to his ill father for so many years of his young life.

He speaks about the guilty feeling he had after his father died for feeling that it was 'better for all of us, something he says he only managed to process in the last few years.

Dax makes a good point about how he was a kid at the time and Toto responds with: "yeah, so you can't, in a way, analyze the feelings in a way you could if you were an adult" and SO REAAAL.

Toto talks about his mother, who is now 79 and not well, and the forgiveness he gives her for 'not being a good mother' because "I know how difficult it was to be at home and to see the suffering" which I think speaks of the empathy he possesses within himself.

Jumping to the part I'm listening to right now and Toto is talking about how "Many people don't want to go to a psychiatrist because they fear losing their ability. Artists, writers, people that have a lot of creativity that don't want to go sort out their mental problems, don't want to go on medication because they believe it is the fuel of their creativity". imma be honest, I felt CALLED OUT w this part as someone who's always seen their mental instability as the thing that fuels their creativity 🙃

He's spoken often about it before but he reiterates how he finds it important to just let his children 'be', to let them follow their own paths and expectations. Yes absolutely that’s when he decides to think about retiring. He has missed some key milestones with the oldest two and he hasn’t forgiven himself and really starts to wonder if it’s all worth it. Maybe the final thing to push him over the edge is a pretty bad accident- for George or even another driver on the grid (maybe even his teammate but the broadcast cuts out and no one knows which driver it is) and the kiddos are so, so scared & he finally says ‘yep I’m done’ and announces it’s his final season. 😭 🥁

Oh my god the emotions you would feel sitting there watching the race with the little ones and a car that could very well be George's has this nasty crash and the broadcast cuts off?? You'd very well be on the phone with the team principal before she could even take her next breath. And by then the girls might still be a little too young to quite grasp it but the little boy would be old enough and they way he'd just look at his mother for answers...fuck.

The second the rest of the grid are back in the pits during the red flag, George is out of the car but Toto (we're keeping him around at least for ease of writing lol) is already halfway to him and just holding out his cell phone and it's been years that they've been colleagues so George knows that it's his wife on his phone by just a glance at his face. Normally that's so not a thing, even frowned upon because technically they're still having to focus on the race, on the crash. But he doesn't even say a word to Toto, just takes the phone, barely getting his helmet off first to actually be able to put the phone to his ear, and "Hello?"

Oh and you'd be in near tears, "George, fuck, oh my God. We thought—"

"No, it wasn't me. I'm okay. I'm in the garage."

"It looked like—"

"I know. Where are the kids? Did they see?"

And he's sitting down on some random piece of machinery in the garage, legs a little wobbly, hands a little shaky, as the voice of his son comes through the line, the poor boy in tears. And George consoles him through the phone and promises he was okay and everything is fine as he's swallowing back his own tears.

And it has to be a quick call because he's got to get back to it but later that night, back in the hotel room, after it's known that his teammate will be fine despite being taken to hospital, George is on the phone with you, sobbing. He always knew his job came with a risk and there was a sense of invincibility and fearlessness he had to have, but never had it ever felt that real before, like there is finally something to be careful for.

Never before have you heard him that shaken up, that upset, and the way his voice sounds when he says through his tears "I can't do this anymore. I don't even want to finish the season. I just want to come home to you." lingers in your memory for years. Of course, he did finish the season before announcing his retirement but yeah...that would be the turning point.

i started watching season 5 of dts because a friend wants me to wait so we can watch season 6 together, and this is probably not a new take and something thats always talked about, but i really feel like lewis' original plan was to retire in 21' and winning the 8th title, i don't think he saw max winning at all

He’s so entitled. I won’t spoil season 6 but..this continues. He really thinks that everything is his to lose, like his name is already on the trophy and they scrub it off if someone else happens to win. It’s such a British attitude. And that attitude is, why despite being a British citizen, I will never support a British sports team.

I think it’s sad that he’s keeping himself in the game out of what is essentially greed at this point. He doesn’t seem to enjoy it in the slightest. He’s broken so many records and achieved so much and it’s still not enough for him to the point where he’s shopped himself around for this fabled “ambassador” deal to keep his name in everyone’s mouth once he’s not racing? You really wonder if it’s because he has nothing in his life to retire to. You can’t tell me it has anything to do with the money. This move to Ferrari seems like the right one for him, they’re a team that stands on ceremony not business. I wanted to know when Max was a terror during 2021, did any of the CEO or TP were vocal about his “defensive” driving against Lewos. No I wrote a whole answer and just as I was finishing I got some sort of error 😭 I don't remember much and I think people most stayed quiet also because of how toxic 2021 got with the end neariing. Okay so I kinda have another idea about the husbands now 🤣 I'm a mess when it comes to them 😭

So here's the thing, during this year press conference at Australia after the world champions podium, with Lewis, Max and Fernando in it; they go through the who'e thing and all. But then Lewis get asked a question and he is about to answer it when he has trouble breathing and his vision is getting worse. He tries to get up of the sofa and suddenly he's on the ground burning and burning. He ask for help he feels his body changing and burning inside. He feels so horny, and Max as the closest touch him and suddenly both of them gasp and they're into each other kissing and trying to get rid of their clothes.

(so basically a form of fuck or die). And when the news reach Toto and he is coming to Lewis with a blanket and a long Mercedes coat. He finds Max fucking Lewis. Or what is supposed to be Lewis because last time he checked Lewis was a man. The thing is the tattoos are still there. Still the same, and he knows it's Lewis. The moment Lewis orgasm he pass out and Max pass out too.

So it's very very awkward in the paddock. And the thing is Lewis hasn't turned back into himself yet. He is still a woman. So every is in chambles. For now it is decided that Lewis can still drive as fundamentally it's still him. They will just have to adjust to him. One problem tho, that moment with Max lead to Lewis getting pregnant. And as soon as he saw someone trying to touch Toto he took him by his hand feeling instantly horny and Toto felt the exact same.

So another free porn session later, and after they come back to their senses they both are angry at the other even if they know it's hardly the others fault. The thing is the FIA is Now getting involved. Because if with Lewis it was a time thing, now with Toto as another incident. They decide to suspend the championship to see what happens.

In the middle of all this chaos, Lewis forget to warn Toto about the whole pregnancy thing. After all he is freaking out and wonders what to do. Did he always wanted kids of course but he planed on having Them after his career. And now he is having one with his rival. You ger than him, who has absolutely no idea about it.

So Toto is the last person on Lewis mind. And turns out it's apparently a curse that touched other drivers too. The ferrari boys, Esteban and Mick, the Haas boys. So to stop it the FIA sends everyone home. And the meetings about the whole situation are to be held between them, the team principals and anyone concerned by the situation.

This is as far as I want to go. Well of course I have more to develop this idea but I just want your opinion about it. If it's trash or if it's a good idea that I should write down

And then Pat's in all white, stripped of colour, of happiness... The 'temporary' alluding to how it will pass, the 'select' alluding to the sides they're on and the need to choose [spoiler: they choose each other], and the brand being Korean adding to the theme of sides and rivalry set up by the Noles t-shirt earlier on (even the Tampa Bay shirt in the beginning)... And finally, Pat lays the 'Friend' shirt across his chest, back to colour, back to happiness. 😍

I just love how dorky these two are. Pran imitates an elevator and escalator to make Pat laugh. Pat gets Pran a case for his headphones with a double 'P' design but won't say what it means. They virtual-hug across the divide and get each other to give each other big smiles. All through this scene I kept thinking Pat would tell Pran he loves him...but it shines through in their actions, in the care and support they give, and in the way they look at each other.

Ooof that xylophone scene is majestic. The way Aof took a risk with it but it's so powerful.

Pran thinking back to the ways that Pat has helped him or been there for him...and Pat thinking back to the gift of the t-shirt from Pran and how he threw that back in his face. Both realising that their anger is mis-placed -> it's the circumstances of their life that they're mad at, not each other, not really.

And Pran doing what he does best - hiding a compliment as he scolds Pat. "Put your shirt on, you're making everyone drool" = "You're so hot".

When I first watched this end, I felt cheated. I wanted more happy PatPran times after their reconciliation and before their relationship got revealed and brought more angst. They had just turned a corner in their relationship - Pran making himself more comfortable with the levels of 'publicity' Pat wanted to make, and Pat understanding that love can also be private and still be just as important (the seeds of ep 12). But I guess knowing what I know now about how they still have happy PatPran times in ep 9, I accept this pacing. It almost seems fitting because Pran had just decided he didn't care as much if people found out...and so people did...and Pat and Pran's love and understanding of each other helped them through the fallout.

oh my goddddd toto being all soft w little george 😭😭😭 he 100% keeps a lil stash of colouring books and a box of crayons in his desk just in case george needs them but sometimes george just wants to climb up in his lap and cuddle and toto is more than happy for that to happen. it's a nice change to the endless monotony of paperwork

Aw yes you’re so right!!!! This is so cute I love it.

Toto pretends to be all scary and intimidating but the moment little George wonders into his apartment, peaking his head through the door and softly asking if Toto has time to play…. Toto softens entirely and let’s Georgie come climb into his lap.

The rest of the team are very accepting and try to be as accommodating as possible, but Toto will go to the end of the earth to make little George happy.

And he’s always telling George off for trying to fight regressing? Often George will want to regress after races, he thinks it’s because of the adrenaline drop and the exhaustion. He’ll try his best to stay big during the debrief but often he’ll start struggling to not regress, especially in the debrief because the garage is warm and safe and he’s surrounded by all his safe people.

Toto always just lets him regress, never makes George wait until the debrief is done. George can get caught up on what’s said, all that matters is that George is happy.

So Toto will let him curl up on his lap and colour in some drawing or play with some plushies while the rest of the team finish the debrief.

And of course Toto’s door is ALWAYS open for George. He has a whole stash of things for George to do when he’s regressed because Toto loves him so much. Toto’s office is pretty much default place for little George to go if he’s alone because he knows toto will always help.

Toto will often call you. Even if you aren’t even at the race. He knows that George loves hearing your voice when he’s regressed so he always calls you so that you can speak to George a little. And if George regresses during a debrief, he’ll let you join the debrief because he knows George always feels better when you’re there.

He just loves little Georgie so much.
