(Probably my final analysis about this guy unless something new comes up) There is a reason why Kamiki must be a god from a thematic perspective.
+prediction: This manga's ending can be really unhinged lol
I haven't encountered any spoilers regarding the ramaining chapters and if I get sent ANY, I WILL block you. No prior warnings. I was too tormented by those earlier. I don't deserve that for having cared for hikaai..(But if I get anything right.. You may o<-<.. Ohh I have so many love-hate relationship w this comic.. I guess I'll be able to get over with this whole nervousness soon one way or the other)
Jotted this down earlier, used machine translator haha ;v;
To elaborate, I think there are two remaining ways to handle this character. One is to treat him delicately (but considering the limited chapters left, this seems almost out of the question; everyone keeps saying he's dead and it's over, and it upsets me. I don’t think that way. I’m not even sure if he’s actually dead, yet everyone seems so certain he is, and it’s depressing. Wouldn't that be a really bad outcome? It’s not about liking the character; it just feels so unfair to both the readers and the character if the story goes in that direction. Just brushing him off as a villain would be too shallow, and I don't think it would make for a good story. But everyone else seems to have given up... Should I give up too? Would the author make such a choice? I’m sorry, but I really don’t think they'd finish this story so sloppily after getting this far. If so, I’d say I could put more effort into writing about him, but I don’t want to speak like this about someone else’s precious work.)
The other option is to treat him as a "fallen god" like the title suggests, glossing over some details. This way, they can maintain some narrative consistency without devoting much chapter space to him. There are actually a lot of hints regarding this (for example, if we assume he actually killed a lot of people, it could explain why no bodies were ever found... Like, we might get a news story in the next chapter about hundreds of bodies being discovered in the mountains because the power that concealed them vanished after his death (which would be terrifying. Then I’d be left baffled & wondering again, what kind of person was Ai really involved with?;; why the heck did the writers make her love such a guy?? I explained how this could work in a way IF he's a god in my earlier posts)).
Looking at the broader scope of the work, if we try to understand what the story is aiming to convey, there’s a clear significance to the character.
If they want to bury several dark aspects of the entertainment industry in him and just decide he is the reason behind it all, then he can't just be an ordinary person.
Seriously, Ai wouldn't have died for this kind of reason if she wasn't a celebrity. Nino and Ryosuke, these deranged individuals, wouldn’t have meddled in her private life and family matters, claiming that she must be the perfect idol, that she can't have a boyfriend or children, chasing her down, and trying to kill her if she weren't one. Many of Ai’s miseries stemmed from her being an idol, where her individuality was not accepted, and this isn’t a problem that can be resolved by simply taking down one madman—it’s connected to societal perceptions. To write this off as being Kamiki’s fault doesn’t even seem possible to me. That's not just simply bad writing, it's irresponsible and harmful. So I don't see the writers making such a choice. They're smart people.
Even if Kamiki harbored resentment after breaking up with his girlfriend, Ai wouldn't have been harmed if she wasn’t a celebrity. Nino even mentioned that Kamiki only talked about Ai. If Ai had been a regular person, what he did probably would have just him reminiscing about her as an ex-girlfriend. Seriously. Does this really make sense for it to believe that Kamiki orchestrated Ai’s murder? There should be a better reason. Otherwise, it’s just Nino and Ryosuke being unhinged, right? Wasn't Kamiki a minor in middle or high school at the time? I doubt he would have directly ordered anyone to kill Ai. Does he seem like someone who would harm Ai deliberately? If that were the case, why wouldn’t he have sought revenge immediately after the breakup? Why wait four whole years? Why? Even if he had anger and resentment (which I believe he did not...this guy never blames Ai.)would die down a lot within that much timespan. Honestly, I have no idea. Considering about the major event at time being Ai's dome concert, I plain think he'd have intended to send flowers through a friend to congratulate her about it, but then the accident happened. Ai’s comment that “our kids are smart and will understand our situation” suggests they weren’t completely out of touch. Maybe Ai told him where she was, which is why he knew about the hospital on her delivery day. Just WHY would he harm her? He's been throwing away his entire life away for a cause related to her for over a decade after she's deceased!! He never wanted to hurt her!!
Going back to the point, if his character isn’t going to be given proper focus (but considering they even brought in a famous voice actor for him, wouldn’t he be more significant than just a side character?), then it would make more sense for him to be a god. That way, he can absorb the societal context surrounding him. Like, he was originally a divine guardian of the entertainment world, but he became corrupted and fell into madness because of humanity. And there are plenty of odd situations and foreshadowing that can only be explained this way... His unique connection with Ai, the intensity of his attachment—it wouldn’t need further explanation, because there’s a narrative that exists beyond the story itself. If he’s treated as just a person, he holds no symbolic value and is merely a broken-minded individual—a mere psychopath. What would that contribute to the story? It shouldn’t go that way. It wasn’t until Chapter 154 that I realized, “Ah... This guy wasn’t supposed to be the culprit.” I just kept following along from there. If the story has a message to convey, it needs to address this. I can see where it's headed, and it’s frustrating, so I just want it to show a bit more! And then they say the story is ending soon. I think the most pressing need for the story now is to resolve its thematic elements.
I can think of about three or four scenarios for how this manga might end. Remember Chapter 156-7 or so, where Aqua and Ruby have that conversation? That chapter is narratively ominous. After reading that, I thought this story might end as a vision flashing before the eyes of two dying people. Like, “You had fun, didn’t you? This kind of life wasn’t so bad, right?” If that chapter is any indication, it’s not impossible that the entire story has been a well-constructed stage, all fiction! That chapter gave me a weird vibe, so I mentioned that the author might craft an ending that over 70% of the readers would dislike in a post once.
If it takes a really bold direction, it could end like that.
Or it could go with a more conventional ending. But this story, since Chapter 1, has been talking about how “everything is fiction, the world is fiction, and it hopes for good lies.” I think something that ties back to that concept will come up at the end.
And the last scenario is an ending that tries to hold onto some deeper meaning (but that doesn’t rule out an Aqua-Ruby flashback ending... lol. They could try to maintain meaning even with that or fulfill Aqua’s dreams of going to medical school and ending up with Kana~~).
Honestly... Even with four chapters left, I’d like them to dedicate like two of them to Kamiki. If we’re talking about liars, he’s as much of a liar as Ai, but he hasn’t been highlighted at all. Is becoming like Ruby supposed to be ideal? I haven’t been convinced of that... If this story wants to say something meaningful about the entertainment industry, it should address the lies required by idols and actors alike.
Wrap up Aqua’s story in one or two chapters, give Kana a happy ending (Kana’s been through a lot in the narrative), even if Aqua and Ruby don’t find happiness, I think Kana should at least find some fulfillment. MEM-cho will do fine, and Akane’s smart, so she’ll be okay.
Kamiki and Ai deserve about half of the remaining focus, thematically speaking. Even if Kamiki ends up being too far gone and deserves to rot in hell, we should at least understand who he really was. Ai’s true feelings were revealed, but Kamiki never got that chance... He never had a real opportunity to be happy, either. To me, he’s more of a person who was pushed to the brink and went mad rather than someone purely evil, so I can’t stop thinking about him. There’s a reason the story was written this way, and I want it to show that. There's someone broken and hit and hurt, but no one's taking responsibility for it. Is that right? Is that what you call justice? I don't think so. It gets on my nerves. I knew that he was a noble soul before they even brought that up. He used to be kind but something pushed him so far. A good story should show what broke him.
The recent chapters have been intriguing but not particularly substantive, mostly dropping hints without much resolution, given the remaining chapters. Can they really tie everything up? I have my doubts.
I just want the story to hold onto its meaning, regardless of the characters’ fates. That’s my hope. For me, this piece is about the message. I really wish it gives out a good one. I’ll keep quiet now; I really hate being wrong—
Did I figure out what this manga is trying to convey? If I have- I hope it goes in that direction. I do have an idea. It’s still possible, after all.

Initial D request for reader who has an unrequited love for ryosuke but knows his heart belongs to Kaori (dead or alive in this scenario). You can make it angsty or have a romantic ending or both! Love to see what you create :)
Reader in love with Ryosuke Takahashi who can't move on from Kaori
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made Ryosuke have feelings for Reader but it's still angsty and he's obviously hung up over Kaori, hope that's okay! I sorta got caught up in dramatics, lol. Anyways, enjoy!
a/n: Can I just say that initial D women are SO beautiful. Every single one of them are so pretty and I looooove Shuichi Shigeno's old style. (fuck MFG, I hate their pit terrier heads 💀)
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。
You stood on the hillside overlooking the town, the cool evening breeze ruffling your hair as you watched the sun sink lower behind the mountains. The view was stunning, but your mind wasn’t on the scenery. Instead, it was on him—Ryosuke Takahashi.
You’d loved him for what felt like forever. From the moment you met, you admired his intelligence, his calm demeanor, his unwavering drive. He was everything you weren’t—sharp, calculating, focused. And yet, despite all that, he seemed to carry a weight with him that never left his eyes, no matter how much time passed.
That weight was her. Kaori.
You’d never met her, but you didn’t need to. Her absence was a constant presence in Ryosuke’s life, and the few times he spoke of her, it was as if he was lost in another world—one you could never reach. She had passed away long before you came into his life, but she still held his heart. It was something you understood, yet it left you hollow all the same.
You often caught yourself watching him from across the room during team meetings, the way he would fall silent, his mind clearly elsewhere. You knew where he was—back in those memories, back with her. And every time, it crushed you a little more, knowing that no matter what you did, no matter how much you cared for him, you could never be her.
It was unspoken, but you had long accepted that your love for him would always be unrequited. Ryosuke had built walls around himself, walls that no one—not even you—could break down. He kept you at arm’s length, close enough to care about, but far enough to never let you in.
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a soft glow over the empty parking lot where you and Ryosuke sat together, leaning against his FC. It had been one of those quiet, peaceful nights where words weren’t needed—just being near him was enough. You had started to wonder if, maybe, just maybe, Ryosuke was beginning to feel the same way about you. The way his eyes softened when they met yours, the comfortable silence that stretched between you—it all felt like a fragile new beginning.
“I’m really glad you’re here,” Ryosuke said quietly, his voice low and calm as always, but with a hint of something warmer tonight.
You smiled, your heart fluttering at his words. “Me too, Ryosuke. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
For a moment, you allowed yourself to imagine that this could work, that he could let go of the past and open his heart to you. He had been more vulnerable lately, more present. You could feel the walls between you starting to crumble, and you felt so close to him—closer than ever before.
"The moon is so beautiful tonight, isn't it?"
You held back a gasp at his words, eyes widening with joy as you hoped that this was leading to where you thought it'd be heading.
But then, in the middle of your contentment, his next words shattered everything.
Kaori…”
Your breath hitched in your throat, and your smile froze as if the world had suddenly stopped spinning.
“What?” you whispered, your voice barely audible.
Ryosuke’s eyes widened in horror the moment the name slipped out, his face paling. “I—no, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—”
But it was too late. The damage was done. You felt the tears pricking at the corners of your eyes, the pain of his slip-up hitting you like a punch to the gut. All the hope you’d been nurturing crumbled in an instant, replaced by a raw, burning ache.
“It’s fine,” you said quickly, but your voice cracked as you forced the words out. “It’s fine, Ryosuke.”
Before he could say another word, you turned on your heel, your heart pounding as you hurried to your car, desperate to get away before you broke down in front of him. You couldn’t face him—not now. Not after this.
“Wait,” Ryosuke called after you, his voice strained with regret. “I didn’t mean to—”
But you couldn’t hear him. You didn’t want to. You just needed to run.
You slammed the door of your car shut and revved the engine, pulling out of the parking lot with a screech of tires. The moment you hit the mountain pass, your foot pressed down on the accelerator, the speedometer climbing rapidly as you tore through the winding roads.
“Kaori,” you whispered, the name echoing painfully in your mind. “It’s always her.”
Tears blurred your vision, but you didn’t care. You needed to let it out—the frustration, the hurt, the anger. You screamed, slamming your foot down harder on the gas as your car flew through the corners with reckless abandon. The tires squealed as you barely managed to control the turns, the adrenaline pumping through your veins as you pushed the car faster and faster.
He would never see you. He would never love you, not the way you loved him. Kaori’s shadow would always be there, lingering between the two of you, keeping him from moving forward. No matter how much you tried to be there for him, no matter how much you wanted to be enough, you would never be her.
her.
Her.
HER!!
The tears came harder now, and with them, a bitter scream that ripped from your throat, echoing through the empty mountain road.
You were angry—angry at him, angry at yourself for falling for someone who could never fully give himself to you. You knew it, deep down, but you hadn’t wanted to believe it until now. And it hurt.
God, it hurt so much.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, you pulled over to the side of the road, your hands trembling as you gripped the steering wheel. You sat there, shaking, the sobs coming in waves now, the weight of your heartbreak crashing down on you all at once.
He didn't even go after you.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。
It was Kyoko who picked up when you called her later that night, your voice barely recognizable through the tears. She didn’t ask questions, didn’t pry. She simply listened as you cried, as you poured your heart out to her, telling her everything that had happened.
“I was so stupid,” you said, your voice raw and broken. “I thought maybe he could love me too. But he called me her name. I’ll never be enough for him, Kyoko. I’ll never be her.”
Kyoko’s voice was soft, steady, and full of sympathy. “You’re not stupid. You’re just in love with someone who hasn’t let go of the past. It’s not your fault.”
You sniffled, wiping at your eyes. “But he’ll never let go, will he? She took his heart with her when she left, and I’ll never have it. I’ll always just be a placeholder, a second choice.”
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and when Kyoko spoke again, her words were careful but firm. “Maybe you’re right. Maybe he’s not ready to let go. And if that’s the case, then you have to ask yourself—do you really want to keep chasing after someone who’s holding on to someone else?”
Her words hit you hard, and you fell silent, the reality of it all sinking in.
“I know it’s not easy,” Kyoko continued, her voice filled with understanding. “I’ve been there. I still have feelings for Keisuke, you know? Even though I knew I couldn’t have him, I still wanted him. But I had to respect his choice. He wanted to focus on racing, and that meant not being with me. It hurt, but… I had to let him go.”
You let out a shaky breath, trying to steady your emotions. “But how do I let go of Ryosuke?”
Kyoko’s voice softened even more. “You deserve someone who gives their all to you. Someone who’s ready to love you with their whole heart, not just a part of it. And Ryosuke… maybe he’ll get there someday. But right now, he’s not. And you can’t keep hurting yourself waiting for him to change.”
A fresh wave of tears welled up in your eyes, but this time they were quieter, less frantic. You knew she was right. As much as it hurt to admit it, Kyoko was right. You couldn’t keep chasing after someone whose heart still belonged to someone else, someone who was already gone.
“I just… I just wanted him to love me,” you whispered, your voice breaking again.
“I know,” Kyoko said softly. “But you can’t make someone love you. And you shouldn’t have to.”
You nodded, even though she couldn’t see you. “I guess I just need to move on, huh?”
Kyoko let out a small, bittersweet laugh. “Easier said than done, right? But yeah, maybe it’s time. And who knows? Maybe one day, Ryosuke will realize what he’s lost. But don’t wait for that day. Live your life for you. Love yourself enough to let go.”
As the conversation came to a close, you felt a strange sense of peace settle over you, even though the pain was still raw. You weren’t over Ryosuke—not yet—but Kyoko’s words had given you something you desperately needed: clarity.
Maybe you couldn’t change Ryosuke’s heart, but you could choose to protect your own.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。
The air was thick with tension as the usual hum of excitement surrounded the Project D meetup. Keisuke glanced at Ryosuke, who was leaning against his FC with a distant look in his eyes. He hadn’t been himself lately—his focus was scattered, and he seemed completely oblivious to the discussions and strategies being tossed around by the others. It was clear something was bothering him.
“Hey, Ryosuke,” Keisuke called, motioning for his brother to step aside. The others didn’t notice as they continued discussing their upcoming races, their laughter echoing in the air.
Ryosuke followed Keisuke a few paces away, his brow furrowed. “What is it?”
“You’ve been out of it. You’re not even coaching us properly.” Keisuke’s tone was firm, bordering on annoyed. “What’s going on?”
Ryosuke hesitated, the weight of his feelings pressing heavily on his chest. “It’s... it’s complicated,” he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Complicated how?” Keisuke pressed. “You’re usually so calculated. You’re acting like an idiot right now.”
Ryosuke flinched at his brother’s words, the sting of the truth hitting him hard. He was being reckless, and he knew it. “It’s about… her.”
Keisuke crossed his arms, his expression shifting to concern. “What happened?”
“I messed up,” Ryosuke admitted, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “I accidentally called her Kaori’s name. I didn’t mean to, but it just slipped out, and now she won’t answer my calls or show up to any of the meets.”
Keisuke stared at him, incredulous. “You called her by another woman's name? Are you serious? That’s a rookie mistake, Ryosuke!”
“I know!” Ryosuke snapped, his frustration bubbling to the surface. “I didn’t mean for it to happen! It was just a moment, and now… now she thinks she’ll never be enough for me.”
Keisuke’s expression softened slightly, but he remained stern. “You need to fix this. She’s not just going to come back on her own. You have to show her that you care—really care. Stop moping around and get out there.”
Ryosuke let out a heavy sigh, the gravity of his brother’s words sinking in. “But what if she doesn’t want to see me?”
“Then you’ll have to make her want to. For crying out loud, she probably thinks you don't give a single shit about hurting her with how long you've made her wait! Go after her!” Keisuke urged, his voice filled with urgency.
Ryosuke hesitated for a moment longer before the realization hit him hard. “You’re right. I can’t just sit here.”
Without another word, he turned and bolted toward his FC. He slid into the driver’s seat, heart racing, and immediately started the engine. As he pulled out of the lot, Keisuke watched him go, hoping his brother wouldn’t screw this up again.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚⋆ ˚。
The drive felt like a blur, the familiar roads leading him back to the emotions he had tried to bury. He raced through the twists and turns, adrenaline pumping in time with his heart. All he could think about was making things right, showing you that he was more than just a guy clinging to the shadows of his past.
Arriving at your house, he parked hastily and hopped out, his mind racing. He knocked on the door, anxiety twisting in his stomach. When there was no response, he knocked again, louder this time.
You sat in your room, the silence pressing in around you, a heavy cloak of loneliness. You didn’t know how long you could keep avoiding Ryosuke, but each time you thought about seeing him, the memory of that name slipping from his lips burned fresh in your mind. It hurt in a way that felt endless.
When you heard a car pull up outside, your heart raced—not with excitement but with dread. You peered out the window, and your breath hitched when you saw Ryosuke’s FC parked on the curb. The world around you faded as you felt the weight of his presence so close yet so far.
There was a knock on your door, firm yet hesitant. You didn’t answer, feeling tears well up as you hugged your knees to your chest, fighting the urge to break down.
Ryosuke’s voice came softly through the door as he called your name with a desperate plea in his tone. “Please. Can we talk?”
You stayed silent, not knowing what to say. You could hear the tension in his voice, the regret that laced every word, but the hurt still felt too fresh.
“Just… just open the door,” he pleaded, desperation evident. “I know I messed up. I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said that name. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
A lump formed in your throat as you held back the tears. “You did hurt me, Ryosuke. You hurt me a lot.”
The door creaked open, and there he stood, looking more vulnerable than you had ever seen him. The usual calm confidence was gone, replaced by an anxious energy. His eyes searched yours, filled with sincerity and remorse.
“Please let me explain,” he said, stepping forward, but you held up a hand to stop him.
“No,” you said, voice trembling. “You don’t get it. I don’t want to hear excuses. I don’t want to feel like I’m competing with someone who isn’t even here anymore.”
Ryosuke’s expression shifted, pain etched across his features. “You’re not competing. Kaori was part of my past. I’m here now. With you.”
“But every time you look at me, it’s like you’re seeing her,” you admitted, tears spilling over as you struggled to hold it together. “I’m right in front of you, and yet it feels like I’m invisible. It kills me, Ryosuke. I’m so deeply in love with you, and it hurts every time you’re obviously somewhere else, even when you’re right next to me.”
He took a step closer, desperation in his gaze. “I don’t want that. I want you. I’ve tried to move on, but I’ve been stupid. I let my past cloud my feelings for you, and I never wanted to make you feel like you were second best. You’re everything to me.”
Your heart raced at his words, hope and heartbreak warring within you. “Then why did you say her name? Why can’t you let go?”
“I thought I had,” he replied, his voice shaking slightly. “But I was wrong. I let my memories take over, and I hurt you in the process. I’m so sorry. I want to be with you, but I need you to understand that I’m still figuring this out. I don’t want to lose you, and I don’t want you to feel like I’m seeing someone else in your eyes.”
The raw honesty in his words struck you, and for the first time since that night, you felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe this wasn’t the end after all.
“Then show me,” you whispered, your heart aching with uncertainty. “Show me that you want me.”
“I will,” he promised, stepping closer, his hand reaching out to cup your cheek. “I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it to you. I don’t want to lose you to my mistakes.”
The warmth of his touch sent a rush of emotions flooding through you. With a shaky breath, you nodded. “Okay. Just… promise me you won’t ever let your past come between us again.”
“I promise,” he said, his voice firm. “You deserve all of me, and I’m going to give it to you.”
As the tension in the room began to fade, you felt the weight on your chest lift slightly, replaced by the warmth of his presence.
Kaori would always be a part of his past, but you were his future. And as you held onto him, you knew that the love you had dreamed of for so long was finally within reach.

my contribution to evil doctor Ryosuke
I’ve been seeing lots of fanart of this man going around and as someone who hates their own art here’s my contribution. Shout out to @majozzz for starting all this. Warnings on blood mention and yknow crazy Ryosuke. Pls enjoy💗
Evil Doctor Ryosuke X Reader❣️
You don’t know why but you’ve always infatuated by your superior, Ryosuke Takahashi. He just seemed like a normal guy, well a beautiful normal guy. “(Y/N),” Ryosuke says, freeing you from your thoughts, “Will you be my nurse for the rest of the day? To be honest I think you do the best job here, so it would be my pleasure to work with you.” You’re taken aback by the request, after all you’ve barely held a true conversation with the man. “Oh of course! I would enjoy that as well,” you say while a small smile stretched across your lips. The day went normal. You helped some patients, assisted Ryosuke in anything he needed, and filled out any paper work needed. As the night drew near you started to clean and throw away any utensils that aren’t needed. You hear a small knock. “Good work today (y/n).” Ryosuke smiles from the doorway, looking at every visible feature on you. Your eyes meet as he strolls towards you. “And to you as well Doctor Takahashi.” “Please, Ryosuke is fine.” Your heart leaps when he speaks, his deep voice sending goosebumps everywhere on your body. “Would you like some help?” He offers. “No I’ll be Al- ah!” You cut yourself with the scalpel you were cleaning. “Shit…that hurt…” Ryosuke smiles. “Here let me see your hand.” Obeying, you offer your hand to his, the size difference being as clear as day. He brings it closer to his face, examining it like the jewel he knows it is. Without hesitation, he kisses the blood from your hand, smiling with his eyes locked onto yours. You flinch from his sudden movement, and even gasp when he begins to lick and suck on the cut, devouring every last drop that comes out of you with nothing but pleasure in his eyes. “Heh, your hand tastes as amazing as I knew it would,” he says finally removing his lips. “It makes me wonder…” his right hand pushes your hair away from your face, “what the rest of you tastes like.” Without warning he slashes the scalpel into you. You scream in pain. “Ryosuke what are you-?! Ah!” Another strike. And another. And another. You shove him away. “Hey away from me freak!” You run as fast as you can, looking for an exit. Ryosuke laughs, licking the scalpel. “What’s wrong (y/n)? Didn’t that feel good?” He immediately rushes after you. You keep running, holding onto your stomach, trying to save as much blood as you can. “Please (y/n)! Let me help you!” He calls from behind. With one stretch of his arm, he grabs onto you, pulling you into him. Tears swell up in your eyes. “Please…” you beg, “don’t kill me…” He smiles and shushes you. “Oh (y/n), why would I do that? All I want is you.” Still squeezing your wrist, he begins to kneel down until his face is near your stomach. “I want every last piece of you.” His lips meet your gashes. All of his aggression is gone. All that’s left is his gentleness.  He licks all the blood and sucks on the gash to get the rest off you. He pulls out some bandages and treats the rest like any good doctor would. “Let’s keep this our little secret ok?” He says while he stands up, leaning over you. He brings you closer to him in one swift movement. “After all, I haven’t tasted the rest of you yet.” He kisses your forehead, picks up his bag and walks away as if it was a normal day at work. You dont know why Ryosuke is so infatuated with you. You have no idea why he wants your blood like a fish needs water. All you know is terror he’s soon to cause you.

[2021.08.22] Kitamura Kento (Hibari) 17LIVE livestream
(I live translated his stream, so there may be details I'm missing/misheard.)
Starting remarks:
He wants to play Hibari more
He usually has great memories of the plays he's worked on, but not quite for this one; It doesn't feel like it ended yet.
He feels like they can do the play again, do the future arc again
His little bro is a big fan of Amano's works, especially KHR, so he's very familiar with this series
His brother is babysitting in the US, so he sends him clips of the play lol
It's only been half a year since he started Twitter and he appreciates all the support (likes, RTs, replies)
His faves are Dino and Primo in the manga. He loves their visuals. He thinks they look cool.
He actually wants to play as Primo lmao
Was excited when he heard James was playing Dino; he's worked with him in at least 3 plays (?, Hakuouki SSL, Hataraki Saibou); Met the first time in a while thanks to this stage
Q&A Section:
Q: Why do you have so many Hibird photos in your makeup area?
A: They're from Yamamoto Ryosuke! Ryosuke receives a Hibird photo from the production team every performance, so he gives them all to Kento since he's Hibari after all. He has around 8 of them. Sometimes Ryosuke forgets to give it to him and he feels unnecessarily disappointed lmao
Q: Thoughts on receiving Hibari's role A: First he wondered a lot about how he'd portray Hibari's fighting style, and tried to portray his cloud-like, untouchable feeling. Kento was set on fighting with "pauses" and "urgency" for Hibari. Hibari's the fastest in thinking and acting, like that time when everyone was panicking about Byakuran's attack, while Hibari immediately left to check on Namimori since that's where the attack landed.
Hibari can also be misleading. When the Real 6 Funeral wreaths landed at Namimori, he was first to speak. However, just when you think he was going to propose a plan, he just states that one of them landed in Namimori, which makes you wonder just how much he loves the place haha.
That unexpectedness makes him interesting to the viewers. He tends to speak, pause in the middle, and then change his tone/aura when he continues his sentence.
Q: Thoughts on Hibari before and after playing him A: He talked about this in his blog post. After playing him, he thinks of other people more than you'd expect. He acts to protect Namimori, and as a result, saves people.
Q: Have you planned the curtain call interactions with Ryohei and Lambo beforehand? A: Nope. That was all thanks to Kimeru adlibbing, and Kento has no idea when Ryohei will jump in lol.
On a tangent, but he very much admires Kimeru for perfectly playing his role. He has already perfected the role even when they just started rehearsing. He has the formula for Lambo down pat. This makes it easy for someone to copy and stand in for him during rehearsals.
Q: Can you share more info on the action parts? A: Every week he gets the stunts instructor to teach him something new, then he practices it on his own for the rest of the week.
Apparently, he practiced while facing a tree at the park, haha. A lot of people commented, saying they want to be the tree. He was like, "No way lol". There were so many people wanting to become trees that he said they were going to turn into a forest lol.
He then talks in detail about how to do a roundhouse kick properly lmao. The left leg/standing leg is important apparently lmao. He repeats this sentence a couple of times and demonstrates it with his fingers.
Sometimes he got tired after doing it so many times. However, when he started doing 1 hour stretches everyday, it became a lot easier.
Does aftercare? (Is that the right term to use here? haha) after practice because it's a lot of strain on his left leg and arm.
Q: What are your similarities with Hibari? A: He likes to do things on his own. Hyperfocused on what he likes. Is stubborn.
He likes to have a lot of preparation before taking something on...
He'll leave when he feels like leaving, lol
Q: Thoughts on Tsuna and Hibari's relationship, and your relationship with Takenaka Ryohei A: Tsuna is an important person in Present and Future Hibari's life.
Takenaka Ryohei is amazing. He has a different reaction to Present Hibari and TYL Hibari and he can really see and feel it... Ryohei's act really contributes to Kento's own acting. It's because Ryohei reacted that way that Hibari seems even more fearsome.
Ryohei can portray Tsuna's fear of TYL!Hibari, but then also show a different reaction when he stops Present!Hibari during Choice.
Usually, it should be the protagonist who would do something proactively while everyone else reacts. As the protagonist, but it's hard to give large reactions. However, in KHR, it's often Tsuna who reacts. It's because Tsuna reacts in a certain way that you can figure out what type of person the other character is. Ryohei is amazing for being able to do that role.
Q: Was it you playing as Alaude's silhouette? A: Yes. Yamamoto also played as Ugetsu.
Random tidbit: At the part where Deisy gets caught with the huge handcuffs, they didn't have those huge handcuffs until they were at the venue lol. So they've been practicing without it until then.
That's why his actions during that scene slowly started to change, since he began to have ideas on what else he could do at that scene.
Q: Thoughts on the Hibari switch scene A: He asked viewers when they realized it wasn't Kento as Hibari onstage? On their first watch? During the stream?
Daiki tried really hard to copy Kento's Hibari, like his walk so people wouldn't catch on. Was really happy when it was decided Daiki was the one who'll be his body double. He actually thought it would be an ensemble doing it, until 2 weeks (?) into rehearsals
Q: Happenings onstage? A: He doesn't really want to talk about it... However, after he turned 25, he's become more open to his mistakes so he can talk about this now haha.
When wearing suits, he wants to look suave and used to wearing them. Having the box in his pants pocket ruins the silhouette of the suit, and so would placing it in his chest pocket, even though the latter seems cool. He talked with the costume designers to add some sort of leather pouch (?) at his waist.
However, after putting the box in and out of the pouch so many times, the leather pouch worse out and became looser. In one performance, the box dropped to the floor sometime without his notice. ("Roll rolled." LOL)
During his fight with Genkishi, he stuck his hand in the pouch while talking and realized it wasn't there. He was like, Oh Shit, lmao. Then clumsily tried to hide the fact that he has no box by taking out his hand and only showing the back of it to the audience, lmao.
He watched a clip of that performance afterwards and learned that the box fell while he did a roundhouse kick.
Also, during the fight with Deisy, he can't see anything. The lights were so bright. When he twirls the handcuffs, it has to face a certain side so that the cuff would close, but sometimes it ends up facing the wrong side, so he has to twirl it back. However, it's hard to figure out if it's facing the right side or not because of the light, so he accidentally dropped the handcuffs once.
(There were actually a few fan reports saying that Kento seemed to drop his props often lol)
Q: Thoughts on Hibari unbuttoning his suit before fighting A: When raising your arm while wearing suits, the middle part scrunches open and he doesn't like that. He wants Hibari to look flawless, so he tried to make it part of the act to unbutton the suit.
He doesn't do this for the part where he trains Tsuna, since he doesn't want to make it like Hibari's doing it for appearances. He tries to make it seem like it's an act Hibari does when he expects a good fight.
Q: Any special training? A: He has a lower center of gravity because he played ice hockey seriously for 9 years. He's jealous of actors who took karate and dance since they are useful skills as an actor. He believes that playing ice hockey and balancing on ice skates really contributed to doing action scenes.
Q: Do you do any weight/muscle training? A: He used to go to the gym, but stopped because of covid. He apparently started classic ballet recently. He likes gaining strength without getting too bulked up. Before he hated wearing tight clothes, but now he has embraced it lmao
Q: Any KHR weapons he would like to try? A: He likes Japanese swords, so he likes Yamamoto's sword style.
When Chrome was handed the Devil Lens, he wondered how one would fight with it? How do you make it look like you use it often? Do you twirl it like a pen?
He's seen James' whip skills live during Secret Bullet and was very impressed that James was able to use them to the fullest. It's a weapon you can more easily hurt yourself with after all.
During rehearsals, there wasn't a center door to come out from, so he had to wait at the sides while Dino and Deisy were fighting. Hibari often comes out from the center door, so he calls Hibari a "Center Door Guy", lol.
Q: Judging from how fast you changed into the yukata during curtain call, are you the type of person who changes clothes fast? A: He has to change from suit to yukata in 1 minute and 30 seconds and be careful not to make Hibari look sloppy, so he was really worried about it... That's why you'd see him touching his collar from time to time.
Final Words
He asks fans to answer the Reborn! The Stage questionnaire and request for a rerun of the Future arc stage plays. They were able to change the future in Future arc, so he believes we can change the future in real life as well. A rerun isn't impossible in his opinion.
He'd love to livestream again sometime with others, like Daiki-kun (Glo Xinia/Dino), and Daiki-kun, and Daiki-kun.😂

Shukan Asahi: Okada x Yamada Special Talk
Source: https://dot.asahi.com/amp/wa/2021100100014.html?__twitter_impression=true
(Rough translation - I paraphrased a little bit. Please let me know if anything is wrong. I also skipped the intro, which didn’t add much info.)
Okada-san played the “Demon Hijikata”. What kind of presence was Okita Souji?
Okada: Okita was very much a genius, so normal people could not understand what he was thinking. However, Hijikata and Okita acknowledged each other, so Okita did not feel scared when Hijikata got angry. Okita was played by Yamada-kun, so it was easy for me to do. He is reliable as an actor, so when the director told me “I am thinking about having Yamada-kun play Okita”, I thought that was great.
Where do you place the most trust in him?
Okada: Since I know the human body pretty well, he asked me “What is the best way to slim down?”, I said “Dehydration”, which was the toughest method (laughs). Then he actually did it, which I thought was impressive. He lost around 8kg of weight.
Yamada: I didn’t even know the word dehydration [at that time].
Okada: It is a method used by bodybuilders, first you take in a lot of water, then suddenly stop and the water will disappear from your body*. Since the blood becomes thick, it is not good [for the body]. In addition, Yamada-kun was not eating to [further] lose weight, so he did both methods…
[* In the Esse interview, Yamada said he stopped drinking water 3 days before the death scene. He also went to the sauna at the hotel, and as expected, he fell down. I know he is playing a dying character, but did he have to go that extreme?]
Yamada: You told me that potassium can also reduce the water in the body, so I took it as well. I did all the things I learned. However, it was really like hell.
Okada: You only ate chocolate?
Yamada: Almonds.
Okada: Ah, I did say nuts are good. You were rolling your tongue and eating little by little like a squirrel.
Yamada: One time, at around 3am, I had excruciating pains in my stomach, so I went to the hospital. They didn’t find anything wrong but I guess that was the price to pay. But I felt good about that too. It was like the character was starting to come alive.
Okada: Normally, if you don’t eat, you start to feel heartsick and lose your will. However, even though Yamada-kun had such a hard shooting schedule, you never lost the will to play the role and I thought you endured a lot. Although we meant to shoot the scenes where you were the thinnest at the end, the schedule [didn’t allow for it].
Yamada: When I filmed the scene just before my death, I also had to film [another scene] where I was healthy on the same day. I wanted my face to look fuller, so I ate a lot. I was trying to gain back the 8kg I lost within 1 week, so I ate about 5-6kg of rice every day. Although my body felt very heavy, I enjoyed [the experience]. I don’t hate being forced into a corner.
Okada: When you were rail thin, you never said a single thing in frustration…
Yamada: I couldn’t possibly show that sort of thing at the place where Okada-san was the center (laughs)! But I never thought about saying stuff like “This bastard”. I thought I would just grin and bear it.
Okada: There’s not much more I can say about Yamada-kun’s skill as an actor. The one thing I would add is that his earnestness towards the role was very amazing. That’s his personality & character.
Other than the body, what advice did you get from Okada-san?
Yamada: I was watching Okada-san to a somewhat disturbing extent. I was really trying to learn about each thing. For example, Okada-san can peek at the camera lens and know the angle of view. Isn’t that weird? (laughs)
Okada: I did ask you, like “Do you know the angle of view?”
Yamada: I was like “Angle of view?!” I thought I didn’t study enough. You told me everything you thought I would not understand and I am very grateful for that.
Yamada-san, what is Okada-san to you?
Yamada: He’s absolutely larger than life. I worship him not as a senpai. Although I’m the type who thinks that I can do whatever others can do because they’re also human like me, I cannot copy Okada-san. Like after he finished filming, he would just sleep a little and head to the gym*; although it sounds kinda bad, he’s like a monster. Really (laughs).I wonder if I will ever reach this level even after many years.
[* He just told the story on Ariyoshi x Monster - They finished filming at 2am & had to reconvene at 5:30am. In 3.5 hours, Okada managed to sleep and go to the gym and that’s why Yamada thought he was inhuman.]
What was the atmosphere on the film set?
Okada: It was an old world where angry roars were flying around. I think it was probably different from what Yamada-kun experienced before..
Yamada: If the young people of today were to jump into this, they may lose heart. You need to really hate to lose and really be motivated to live in this world.
[T/N: I’m a bit confused as to whether they’re talking about the actual film set or the Shinsengumi times. I guess maybe the Shinsengumi atmosphere bled into the set? Sounds a bit horrifying but it is a testosterone filled film. 😅]
How would you link the unity of Shinsengumi to your “Group Bond”?
Okada: If you bring in the really strict rules that Shinsengumi implemented to the group, like whoever broke the rules would have to commit seppuku*, it will collapse.
[* Seppuku is the act of ritual suicide where the person cut across the stomach with a sword. For Shinsengumi, people could be executed by beheading or allowed to commit seppuku. Basically seppuku is the honorable way to die.]
Yamada: You’re not wrong (laughs).
Okada: Shinsengumi was a strong and unusual group. It only lasted 6 years, that’s why it was beautiful and powerful. For those of us in V6, we are made up of gentle people who all wanted to do this together for a long time rather than aim to be the bright light. How long has Hey!Say!JUMP been around?
Yamada: Next year will be our 15th anniversary.
Okada: From now on, I think it will be interesting for Hey!Say!JUMP, King & Prince, SixTONES, and Snow Man. You’re going to fight for the national idol throne. We were wondering and looking forward to find out “Who will take it!”
Yamada: We are race horses (laughs).
Okada: That’s right. These 4 groups know what their situation is like, and I think you have discussed this amongst your groups. Although it is tough, it is probably fun to be creative. What is JUMP doing?
Yamada: Recently, we are starting to find our niche individually. However, I think our rule is to try and bring something from those places back to JUMP. For example, I’m a part of “Moeyo Ken”, so people may say “Yamada Ryosuke, who played Okita Souji, is part of the group called ‘Hey!Say!JUMP’”, and that brings the topic back to the group. As for the “National Idol” throne, whether we can win will depend on how much power we can each bring by following that rule of JUMP’s.

7 MEN 侍
Dignified and Bold
7 MEN 侍's long-awaited first appearance on anan. Experiencing a turbulent 2020, these 6 people are pursuing a new entertainment. Challenging the stage play 「DREAM BOYS」, looked closer at their real selves.
Nakamura Reia
I like to make each of my choices the correct answer.
I was originally a kid who skateboards wearing a cap over a long hair and loose jeans. That's why I didn't have interest in being an idol, rather, I thought that having a neat appearance was lame. But, when I unwillingly went to the audition, I was selected to be a member of Snow Prince choir so I couldn't quit...My awareness changed when I started working as Sexy Boyz with Kishi (Yuta) and Jinguji (Yuta). It was different from my lenient and care-free self, I am positive and had the desire to improve myself with my works, I really got motivated. During the time when Sexy Zone who is close to me also debuted, I am the only one who didn't feel impatient or frustrated, rather, I felt "yabai". Since then, I started to think to do my best to be an idol seriously.
I am happy that Johnny-san chose me to be the center of 7 MEN 侍, but I am not the type who pulls everyone, the other 5 members have better skills than I am, they are also reliable, and on the contrary, I am being supported by them. It's just that, only my mental strength is strong. I totally don't care about things like criticisms from the society. Something like it is better to say bad things about me rather than attacking the other members. Because more than those criticisms, the fans are telling me that they like me. Or rather, this toughness might be my unique talent (LOL).
Since I came to like acting because of「Koi no Yamai to Yarougumi」, I want to try playing NG guy who has an older girl as the partner kind of role like「Himemon」or 「Kimi wa Petto」.
Is becoming an idol my fate...? But after all, everything is from the choices that I made by myself. I decided to go to the audition, I was taught by Johnny-san about how wonderful to be an idol, and I've continued being an idol up to now. From now on too, I would like to make each of my choices the correct answer.
Q. To have the luck on your side, do you have your own ritual?
Before the live, with the meaning of "please look over us", I talk to the photo of Johnny-san that is placed in the backstage room, I also put my hands together. I am the type who is moderately nervous but I don't hate that feeling of being encouraged.
Motodaka Katsuki
It seems that the feeling of home when the 6 of us gathers is very valuable.
I started singing, dancing, and playing on stage when I entered Johnny's. But, being completely absorbed in an instant than being skillful is my strength. But, with the keyboard I am in-charge of, my experience playing the piano since I was 3 years old was put into use. At that time, I really didn't like playing the piano. It was like that but I got the sense of perfect pitch. I am thankful to my parents to let me, who hates playing piano, attend the class.
I am attending college now but during my high school, I got a lot of advices from Snow Man's Abe (Ryohei)-kun. Since I have been chasing him on his back for a long time, I have been encouraged on how he flapped big his wings as Snow Man. Honestly, 3 months before the first concert as 7 MEN 侍, I wanted to see the world from the different point of view so I planned to study abroad in New York. At that time, I once again tried to think about this job. And then, I realized that I grew to love this job. The good sides and the bad sides, as a human being evaluated directly, there's a sense of accomplishment in here. That's why, studying abroad became not necessary for me until I take a break from the work that I love.
This year, I had a lot of chances to be in quiz shows alone, and I thought "Is being not with the members this disheartening?"...To that extent, I can feel that the feeling of home when going back to 7 MEN 侍 is very important. The members often tease me, but since I am not a talkative and interesting type of person, I become happy too when I made them laugh when they tease me. But behind the scenes, the members are relying on me and I often receive personal consultations too. 7 MEN 侍 who is in the process of exploring it's form, now and from now on too, I want to support everyone. And in the year 2021, even if we encounter struggles, this may be the year where we can have a firm grip to make great strides!
Q. To have the luck on your side, do you have your own ritual?
This is just my own value but I don't believe in luck. Everything is result of my own decision and it is my own responsibility. I don't want to blame "luck", and I also don't want to think that what happened is thanks to "luck". Suppose there is luck, pulling that luck towards yourself is a great deal of effort.
Sugeta Rinne
An idol is a wonderful job that has the charm to inspire people's hearts.
When I was an elementary student, I went to Hey!Say!JUMP-san's live and when I saw a girl who is in front of Yamada (Ryosuke)-kun cry and laugh, I thought that an idol is a wonderful job that has the charm to inspire people's hearts. Rinne also wants to be like that so Rinne uploaded everyday in ISLAND TV during stay home. I had worries like, "Won't they get tired of me?" but it turned to "I am sure the fans are happy with this, right?"
Rinne's special skills are acrobatics and sports, and I was able to appear in shows like 「Honoo-no Taiiku-kai TV」や「SASUKE」. For me, I think a person who is athletic is cool, and since you will want to support a person who is working hard, from now one too, I want to appeal as a Johnny's who can do sports. It would be nice if I can also appear in 「Run for Money」this 2021.
The senior that I admired is Ueda Tatsuya-kun. There was a time during a race in 「Honoo-no Taiiku-kai TV」, I showed off to hype up the audience and my time got slower. During that time, I really got scolded by Ueda-kun saying, "You can't win like that." Since that was the first time I got scolded throughout my Johnny's life, I think a senior who can properly scold his juniors is cool.
In 2020, I got 1 million yen when I guested in 「Quiz! Only 1」, I think Rinne is a guy who can grab luck. Before, when the my previous unit was gone, it felt like I have lost my chance...Given that I thought of quitting Johnny's if I am not going to be put in a group until 2020, I am so glad that I went to talk directly to Johnny-san. Since I now have a group original song and individual job, I think this is really the time to give my all.
Q. To have the luck on your side, do you have a ritual that only you doTo have the luck on your side, do you have your own ritual?
Before the actual show, I watch videos of my senior's lives starting with Hey!Say!JUMP-san's. Since I think having a proper image of "idol" as " a work to make people happy", I can do a better performance.
Sasaki Taiko
The 6 of us, even though we are late bloomers, I believe that we can definitely bloom.
The one who opened my path to Johnny's is Takahashi Kaito-kun. I also sent my resume when I heard that Kaito-kun who I thought cool when I saw him in a dance contest. With that, now that I am working as the same Johnny's, this is an amazing fate! I talk about music with Sato Shori-kun who likes the same band as mine, and I also receive dishes that he makes. Kishi (Yuta)-kun who Shori-kun is good friend with, took me to a his favorite soba stall saying, "It's a delicious shop." Since then, I've been addicted to that shop too.
I have been practicing dancing and playing drums when I was a kid, but Johnny-san chose my drumming skills more. At first, even though I am very thankful to be able to show it, I have become greedier and greedier, and I honestly thought that "I can also dance"...But 3 months before Johnny-san passed away, I heard from Oriyama (Nao) of Shounen Ninja that Johnny-san said, "Sasaki is good at dancing too." From here, I want to say with confidence that I am also good at dancing that Johnny-san had recognized. After all, dancing is a must in Johnny's! In addition, while polishing thoroughly my singing and acting too, I want to reach for something extraordinary.
With 7 MEN 侍 changing the members twice, a self-conscious was born each time and I have come do develop mutual trust with them. Even if these 6 people bump into a big wall, if these 6 people are together, they will be able to cross over it, they are probably late bloomers but I believe they can be successful and well known. (T/N: lit. 花を咲かせられる (flower can bloom; it is like an "idiomatic expression" for becoming successful and well known) In 2021, if possible, I want to do a live where 100% of the audience can go. It is going to be a live where they can think "I am glad I am supporting 7 MEN 侍." I'll cry if that happens (LOL).
Q. To have the luck on your side, do you have your own ritual?
I do things as I please like how I kissed Hamada Masatoshi-san of Downtown in a variety show, but I am really very nervous...Before the show, I am the type who right the character "人" 3 times on my palm, I do it seriously (LOL).
Konno Taiki
I think I could grab the chance because I was able to meet Johnny-san.
I like Kimura Takuya-san since I was 3 years old, and thinking that I want to be like him, I sent my resume to the agency. In year 2020, when I was able to go and see Kimura-san's tour, I told him those feelings, he said, "Let's take a photo together." I thought that a star is different after all.
From the start, even before joining Johnny's, with singing as my strong point, I love singing in front of people. I often sing Misora Hibari-san's 「Kawa No Nagare No Youni」. But when I hit the puberty, I came to hate my own voice. I stopped singing for a while but during my 4th year in Johnny's, when I casually hummed to Kinki Kids'san's 「Anniversary」near Johnny-san, he praised me saying, "You're good in singing!" More than anything else, I am glad that Johnny-san who loved me like a parent recognized my singing which is something that I am trying to make as my strong point. From that moment, I worked hard because I wanted to be praised by Johnny-san, but when he passed away, it felt like I have lost my aim. But for Johnny-san, he hates negative remarks the most. That's why it is not the time to feel down, aiming seriously for this group to debut, I feel like that timing completely changed my awareness towards work. I think I could grab the chance because I was able to meet Johnny-san after all. If that didn't happen, no doubt I am not here now.
2020 is the year where I got to experience a lot of things for the first time. Especially with the stage play 「The Happy Prince」, I was able to feel the enjoyment of plays. I think it would be nice if I can challenge campus love story in a drama or movie this 2021.
Q. To have the luck on your side, do you have your own ritual?
When I want to calm down, I use a perfume that has a sweet vanilla scent. Since「The Happy Prince」is my first stage play, I was very nervous. When I used this perfume during that time too, it was able to relieve my nervousness.
Yabana Rei
A performance that will also remain to the memories of those who are not knowledgeable about music.
I took the audition 4 times. For the details, you can try watching the episode where I talked about it in YouTube channel (LOL). Even if I passed the document screening but I couldn't go to the practice, I will repeat the cycle of going through audition again. If ever I continued [being a Jr.] during my first audition, I might be dancing and I might not had been able to make an appeal with musical instruments as my special skill during the band boom of Johnny-san. I am being told, "You're not Johnny's-like" because I say that I am better in playing instruments than dancing. It's just that, if I didn't enter Johnny's, I won't be playing instruments until now. So I can say that it feels like a wonderful destiny to be playing instruments as 7 MEN 侍.
Other than the bass that I am in-charged of playing, I also play guitar and harmonica. The first instrument I started with was drums and I got very hooked with 「Taiko no Tatsujin」(LOL). If you play different things, you will pick up the characteristics of each sound and you will be able to make songs too. I also want learn about the theories so I am attending college of music. I am a complete geek as regards to music (LOL). Me going on a rampage on stage is the result of me thinking on how I can show 7 MEN 侍's style. In the letters from the fans, letters with "you are cool playing the guitar" is not few even though I am playing the bass. Since there was a time when I also don't know clearly the difference between the guitar and the bass, so I can understand that feeling. That's why I want to do a performance that will remain to the memories of anyone.
With the aim "to be not less than what I am now" for next year, I want to be able to do more work than I did for this year. ...by the way, this is not a prank, right? I am very overwhelmed lately and I still can't believe that I am having an interview for anan (LOL).
Q. To have the luck on your side, do you have your own ritual?
Going to this certain shrine. Since I visited there alone during New Year, we had talk about changing the instruments we play and I have luck on my side. I like that it is quiet there even though it is located within the city, when I found that shrine, I prayed to the god of works.

To Nakamura
To stand as the face of the group, you stand as the center of the group. His personality is my pace and gentle-mannered. Since you are not the "follow me!" type, that's why I think the members with strong personalities are also kept in place. Because I get stiff in front of seniors, Reia's sense of "being loved by everyone" is really nice. Even though you have the longest history in agency in the group, you are not prideful at all, Reia who can understand the things he can't do and who can rely to others is amazing. (Motodaka)
To Motodaka
Our overwhelmingly highly educated member. And yet, you are not annoying because you are a cute guy who is an overeater and carelessly says foolish things like "therefore!?" (LOL) Before the group was formed, you are a companion who I find easy to talk with, but you see me as a senior, right? The way you call me too was "Reia-kun". But I am happy that you interact with me on equal terms lately. (Nakamura)
To Yabana
Banasan is seen as someone reliable, and among the fans, I think they see him as peculiar, funny, and has a lively image. But unexpectedly, he has a delicate side too, and he is fairly a considerate person. He is really a very nice person that sometimes he looks pitiful. Well, I also usually tease Yabana (LOL). That's why, everyone too, please take good care of Yabana more! (Konno)
To Konno
He doesn't seem elusive at first glance, but I think he is stubborn. Konpi definitely won't cross the line he can't compromise with. And, he hates lounging around doing nothing. When work is done, he will be the first person who will say "I'm going home." At the start of 2020, when we changed the atmosphere of our band, I was struggling with the hook part's harmony, but Konpi can properly play the sound. I am super jealous of his talent! (Yabana)
To Sasaki
Among the members, he has the biggest gap. Despite being called as "mad dog", he still makes weird faces and also jokes around doing things that are not Johnny's-like. Since he is a youngest child, he might also have an impression of being a brat and naughty. But in lives, he shows a sparking cool dance, and he has a excellent style too. Since his range is really amazing, I hope you can enjoy his both sides! (Sugeta)
To Sugeta
You have the cuteness like an idol. Especially you like Yamada-kun, you have Hey!Say!JUMP's DVD and there was a time when we enjoyed watching it together. Also, your muscle is amazing, you are really healthy (LOL). But in reality, you are the type who will be silent when you get mad so I will ask Reia, "Why is he mad? Did I do something?" (LOL) Thinking of the members, I think the member who likes 7 MEN 侍 the most is Rinne! Since you always listens to our original songs. (Sasaki)
Cross Talk
Motodaka: anan is the magazine that my mother often buys. Thus, I am happy to be able to appear in anan! At home, I am always being asked, "Are you going to work today?", but this morning I said, "No, it's not for work" (lit. it's different). I want to make it a surprise [for my mom] once this issue is released.
Yabana: It would be funny if she didn't notice it even if it is already released~!
Nakamura: Even when they have the magazine at home LOL.
What is the history of your group name?
Sugeta: At the time we got the group name, I was doing activities with another 7 people. Rinne and Reia went to Johhny-san asking "we want a group name." And then, Johnny-san told us "I understand, I will think about it."
Nakamura: And then we thought that day was already over.
Sugeta: 5 minutes later, we got called "Samura~i!"
Nakamura: I thought, "Who is he calling Samurai!?" but when I looked around, it is only us who were there.
Sugeta: When the 2 of us went to Johnny-san, he asked us, "Do you know Kurosawa Akira's 「Shichinin no Samurai」?" Then, when we answered, "We know that film," he told us, "Then, how about being called 7 MEN 侍 from now on?" Each of the samurai who appeared in the movie are properly...like this...
Konno: Having strong personalities and skills.
Sugeta: Yeah
Konno: I am grateful that 7 people like that (having strong personalities and skills) were gathered.
Have you seen the movie?
All: ...(Only Nakamura-san raised his hand)
Nakamura: Wait a minute!
Sasaki: Everyone has not seen the movie except for Reia LOL.
Nakamura: It is the origin of our group name so let's watch it~!!
Yabana: Gerin-san (Sugeta) lying to Johnny-san saying "I know the film" is the worst LOL.
Nakamura: It is a wonderful film and you will learn something from it so please watch it!
What is 7 MEN 侍's strength?
Motodaka: Our difference from the other groups is that [playing a] "band" is our strength. As idols, we don't only play as a band but we can also show our dance.
Sasaki: Yeah, having both band and dance as "weapons" is huge, isn't it?
Motodaka: Yeah, since our first original song 「samudama」 is a band song, and our second original song 「Siren」 is a dance song.
Konno: When our next song was thought to be a band song too, our next song came out as a cool dance song.
Nakamura: With this, our third song became something incalculable. From now on too, I want for the fans to look forward to what our new song is each time we announce our new song.
Within the group, who is the member who has the element of "samurai" the most?
Konno: It's either me or Yabana, right?
Sugeta: Is it about the appearance?
Konno: In the sense of sticking with the will.
Yabana: Don't say that yourself!
In Yabana-san's solo interview, he described Konno-san exactly the same way you with what you (Konno) have said...
Konnp: Is that so? Then I shouldn't have said it. Please tell me properly about it. This is embarrassing!
Motodaka: Konpi dragged Yabana with guarantee LOL. For Yabana, getting dragged is just a trouble.
Yabana: Don't drag me into it~!
Nakamura: LOL. I love kanji, I wonder if that is samurai-like. I also play Sengoku. But, if we talk about the body, then isn't Rinne the one who is samurai-like?
Sugeta: Rinne thinks that more than being a samurai, I am more like a ninja.
Yabana: What is that? A self-awareness of a secret mystery from your heart LOL.
Nakamura: Of course we are idols, but I think it is also good to show the manly side of us exclusively during our band performances.
Yabana: We will go on a rampage like Sakamoto Ryouma who tried to change Japan!
Sasaki: For me, changing...or rather it's more like I want to create a new path.
Konno: Defying the public belief.
Yabana: The awareness that we don't want to go with the typical type is something we all have in common, right?
Motodaka: All 6 of us have different personalities but we that the same awareness.
Konno: We don't want to pretend to be someone else.
Sasaki: It's a subjective image but I think protecting a girl is an element of a samurai. It is gonna be a cheesy talk but I want to be an idol who can protect the fans.
Motodaka: You just said something really good! But, what would be the good thing to do to protect the fans?
Sasaki: I think making them happy.
Sugeta: By making our fans happy, as a result, we are able to protect them!
Motodaka: We are saying good things today, aren't we?
Nakamura: With what said earlier , it doesn't feel like you worked LOL.
Currently, you are in the middle of practice for the stage play 「DREAM BOYS」.
Konno: I watched the DREAM BOYS 2019 where Reia and Taiko appeared, and since I thought I wanted to appear on it again, I am so happy to be able to appear on DREAM BOYS again.
Sugeta: Since there is already a vision in Domoto Koichi-san who is directing the play, I am looking forward to recieving direction and guidance even before the practice.
Sasaki: Reia will stand in front of the audience after a while, right?
Nakamura: Yeah. I currently have a feeling like I am seeing the person I love after a while that my heart is throbbing.
ALL: OH~!!
Sasaki: Rinne made a face that he doesn't want to lose [to Reia] after hearing Reia's comment LOL.
Nakamura: Probably, this comment will be used by Rinne on a different interview, right? LOL.
What is the charm of 「DREAM BOYS」?
Sugeta: The burning passion of two men towards boxing is its charm after all, right?
Nakamura: Yeah. The feelings are delivered in a straight manner.
Motodaka: It is a story that firmly depicts humans and their relationships with each other.
Sasaki: Youth! It has the entertainment that is unique to Johnny's so you won't get tired of watching it. Oh, which minds me, as soon as the practice started, Kishi (Yuta)-kun asked, "Is Yabana not around today?"
Yabana: He told me "teach me how to play the guitar please." It is an honor to be needed by a senior.
Sasaki: But (Iwasaki) Taisho is a strong opponent. It looks difficult to keep up with him LOL.
Yabana: Taisho mistook me for a nourishment or something and my energy gets absorbed.
Konno: It looks like Yabana has no time to rest LOL.
By the way, 7 MEN 侍 still does not have a leader, right?
Sugeta: *raised actively his hand alone*
ALL: *roar of laughter*
Sasaki: If our leader is like Rinne, 7 MEN 侍 is seriously over LOL. This is different from asking in in the werewolf game on who is the fortune teller and you will say, "I am."
Yabana: I think it is his win because he said it first LOL.
Konno: Announcing it during the anan round-table discussion which is a big occasion LOL.
Yabana: Doesn't it feel like the same thing for the MC part in YouTube channel...?
Nakamura: When Rinne realized that being the MC is not that great...
Sugeta: Well, whatever!
Sasaki: Since he stopped doing the MC, he wanted to have punishment games so that he would be shown in the camera even just for a little LOL.
Sugeta: In the filming recently, Rinne is always beside Yabana, right?
Motodaka: Don't tell me that's because if you are standing next to the MC, you will be in the camera too...?
Sugeta: Yup. I revealed this for the first time now.
Konno: In a sense, you are a genius LOL.

Writing the MC a Valentine’s Day Card-----Soryu
AO3
Valentine’s Day Countdown--- Day 1
“Boss, I’m sorry! Please don’t shoot me,” Ryosuke stammered, while trying to hide behind Samejima.
“Stop cowering,” Samejima snapped. “You made your bed, now it’s time you take responsibility and lie in it.”
Soryu sighed and massaged his temples in annoyance, while his two underlings partook in their normal bickering. Valentine’s Day was rapidly approaching, and the mobster was writing out a card for his girlfriend.
At least, Soryu had been attempting to compose something special. That is until Ryosuke caught wind of what Soryu was working on and insisted on offering his “help” with the project. The poor subordinate’s “help” consisted of him laughing at Soryu’s bewildered mutterings about random phrases of love, which resulted in Soryu pointing his gun at Ryosuke’s head. All the commotion caused Samejima to come racing into the room, where Ryosuke immediately tried to take cover behind him.
“Enough! Both of you get out of here right this instant, or I really am going to shoot!” Soryu snapped at the younger men.
“Don’t hate me, boss! I was only trying to help!” Ryosuke yelped, before being shoved out of the room by Samejima.
Samejima followed suit and was about to close the door, but briefly paused first.
“Boss, MC is going to love you regardless of what type of card you give her,” Samejima assured. “Just write the feelings that are in your heart.”
Without waiting for a response, he took his leave, and left Soryu alone to stir in his thoughts.
“Write what’s in my heart?” Soryu muttered in confusion.
He walked back over to his desk and stared at the small card that was proving to be quite the challenge for him. Soryu glanced at the picture of him and MC at the zoo last weekend that was on his desk, and smiled when he thought back to how much fun he had during that date. Anytime he spent with her was always time he ended up cherishing.
Suddenly, Soryu had an idea! The words he wanted to express to MC were now easily flowing onto the paper in front of him.
After a few minutes of energetic writing, Soryu dropped the pen and proudly held the card up as he reread it several times. Feeling confident with the final product, Soryu nodded his head in satisfaction and placed a small kiss on the card.
“I hope this is good enough for you, MC,” Soryu confessed his fear to himself. “You deserve nothing but the best, and I want to be the one to provide that for you.”
He locked the card up in his desk drawer for safekeeping until the day of their awaited date. Feeling excited about their upcoming get together, Soryu turned his attention back to his computer, and forced himself to focus on the pile of work he needed to have finished before the big day.
Slamming away at the keyboard, Soryu grinned and began to countdown the days of the holiday he had once found dreadful.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Thank you very much for these wonderful gifts! I’ll treasure them forever!”
Soryu chuckled while MC gazed in admiration at the pile of presents, he had gifted for the special occasion. Today they were spending Valentine’s Day together, and Soryu was still holding onto the card he wrote for her in his suit pocket.
Before his nerves could get the best of him, Soryu gulped and hesitantly reached into his jacket to hand her the envelope. Gulping, he watched as MC’s face lit up and rushed to tear open the envelope.
“Actually, maybe you shouldn’t read that,” Soryu remarked, and tried to grab the card away.
MC swiftly evaded his hand and spun around to read the contents of the card Soryu had handwritten for her.
To a wonderful girlfriend,
You’re more special to me than anyone else in the world. I can only hope I can shower you with the same level of happiness you’ve brought into my life. I’ve enshrined our past memories together, enjoy our current times, and long for our future moments as a couple. Thank you for all you have given me, and I vow to spend the rest of forever protecting you.
Love,
Soryu
MC sniffled, and Soryu pulled out his handkerchief to dab her wet eyes. She clutched the card close to her chest and turned to tenderly run her hand down the side of his cheek.
“Soryu, this was beautiful, she softly whispered. “All of the presents here today are great, but this gift by far is my favorite. Thank you for taking the time to write this for me. I’m going to keep this in my scrapbook.”
“That really isn’t necessary, MC,” Soryu mumbled, trying to hide the fact that his cheeks had turned a bright red.
MC giggled at the sight of her flustered boyfriend and grabbed ahold of his hand, which was sweaty from the nerves.
“Oh, it’s very necessary. I’m going to read it every single day from now on!”
She leaned over and planted a soft kiss on his lips.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Soryu!”
He pulled her chin in for a kiss and rubbed his nose against hers.
“Happy Valentine’s Day to you, my sweetheart.”
Soryu began kissing MC again, and gently pushed her back down onto the sofa. He paused to stare into those shining eyes, and silently thanked the lucky stars in his head that someone as wonderful as her was in his life.

Motto2 vol. 20 Saga (A9) x Ryosuke (Lolita23q) Interview
Tumblr media
Despite there not being that much interaction between them to date, in actuality, Saga and Ryosuke knew of each other since over 10 years ago. Hearing them talk, in addition to having things in common such as both being bassists and composers, it appears they have many things they agree on, and they hit it off! At this rate, it appears that in 2017, both A9, who have returned to their roots, and Lolita23q, who have resumed band activities, will do something interesting...!!
Saga: I've known of Ryosuke for quite a long time ago.
Ryosuke: I've also known about Saga for a long time. Before A9 had started, I was in the vocalist Show's session band and I've also been their roadie. I've known Saga since he was in Delta Ark...
Saga: That's such a long time ago! (laughs)
Ryosuke: From the time there was that compilation album "HYSTERIC MEDIA ZONE 5"...
Saga: That's super old!! (laughs)
Ryosuke: But today is the first time actually having a proper talk with him.
Saga: Right. We've never had a proper chat since meeting each other, but I've been hearing things about Ryosuke from Show for a long time now. Like "He's a really good kid, has really good manners and is amazing at the bass too. He's a skilled kid".
Ryosuke: No, no. That's too kind (laughs).
Saga: Oh, my bad for calling you a kid (laughs).
Ryosuke: I'm the junior here, so that's completely fine. And also because I respect my seniors who are moving ahead.
Saga: Huh? When did you guys form again?
Ryosuke: Our first live was in November 2004.
Saga: We formed in the Spring of 2004.
Ryosuke: There's less than a year's difference of our current bands, but you also had a career before that... When I played for the first time at a live house, Saga and Show were already playing at Takadanobaba AREA1.
Saga: Memories of those times are starting to come back to me (laughs).
Ryosuke: That's why when Show and Saga formed alicenine., I thought "This is going to be one amazing band". I purposely said their band name from that time.
Saga: But we're pretty much from the same era, so why didn't we meet? We've only played a show with Lolita23q once.
Ryosuke: I think that's because ever since alicenine. formed, they shot straight up.
Saga: No, no, not at all. We joined a management company right after we formed, so there was the fact that we weren't so free to move as we wanted...... But now that we've gone independent, there's none of that anymore and it's easier to get things done. It's like the same goes for today, being able to collaborate with Ryosuke.
Ryosuke: I'm really glad that I can have a chat like this with Saga.
Saga: Although we never interacted in the public sphere, in 2012, when I heard that Lolita23q would go on hiatus, I was sad, as one would expect.
Ryosuke: Really?
Saga: Yeah. But I wasn't suprised. Because I really understand the difficulty in keeping a band going. And when it comes do doing it for over 10 years... right?
Ryosuke: Uh huh.
Saga: I don't know the specifics for you, but when you are active as a band, don't a whole range of obstacles come up? So I did feel that it was sad... but I also felt that it is what it is. That's why when I heard Lolita23q would be making a comeback, I was genuinely happy.
Ryosuke: Thank you very much.
Saga: I also want you guys to show the fans in the current Visual-kei scene who haven't seen Lolita23q before what's what.
Ryosuke: I do hope they come see us.
Saga: Lolita23q had left an impression on me from the very beginning. The impact from their artist photos each time is amazing.
Ryosuke: Yeah... Our lives depend on that.
Saga: BAN adds a nice touch to the band (laughs). He does his own thing. Even in the new artist photos, he does his own thing. That's also amazing.
Ryosuke: He has consistency in how he presents himself. I think that the artist photo up on our website right now is the coolest BAN.
Saga: I also think that the artist photo now is the best, even including all the artist photos in the past. You guys are shining the most right now.
Ryosuke: Really? Thank you very much. I was very particular about the composition, even in the smallest details. After the band went on hiatus, I studied a bit on design, so I made use of all the things I mastered in the artist photos, like proportions and balanced.
Saga: You always looked at things overall and produced the presentation of the band and such, right?
Ryosuke: I wouldn't got so far as to say I produced it, but I wanted to say that ever since back then, I was the main person behind the band's creative side. But in making our comeback, I think that working from behind the scenes is okay. Because I want to contribute the know-how and ideas I have to the band even more than before we went on hiatus.
Saga: You won't say "I'm the one doing it".
Ryosuke: No, I won't. I'd be happy if my work was needed by the people we work with or the members.
Saga: It's like you take a step back to look at things.
Ryosuke: That's right. I'm a band member, but I've also got a position like a kind of director. But I don't even want to say things like that.
Saga: Oh, really?
Ryosuke: I want to avoid giving off this cocky feeling. But I'm actually really interested in things like this.
Saga: You like looking at the overall picture?
Ryosuke: Yes. Or rather, doesn't it happen with our part (= bass)?
Saga: Well, yeah. That's how it ends up being (laughs).
Ryosuke: Right!
Saga: Well, in terms of where you stand in the band, you end up looking around you (laughs).
Ryosuke: It's just as you say. That's why I think that I'm the one who chose the bass.
Saga: But even though you're a bassist, don't you also have solo activities as WING WORKS, where you don't play bass, but instead sing, and produce eveything? By doing things like that, I think that you're a unique person, even in this scene. So what are you thinking when you do your activities? I've always been really curious. Like "I wonder if he is moving while thinking about many things while looking 2 to 3 steps ahead?".
Ryosuke: That's right. When I thought to stop the band the first time, I thought that I couldn't be in a band anymore.
Saga: Like perhaps you couldn't form a band better than Lolita23q?
Ryosuke: There was that, and I'm not denying the stance that the other members took after that2, but at the time, the CEO of the label we were under at that time gave me the advice "The road of music is [One band per lifetime]", and that had always stuck with me.
Saga: Yeah.
Ryosuke: That said, I was thinking about forming a new band at first, but I immediately thought that I couldn't be able to form a band better than Lolita23q. So if that was the case, I thought to do it alone.
Saga: I see.
Ryosuke: That and I really like MIYAVI, so I was influenced by him.
Saga: Oh, really?
Ryosuke: Yes. If I recall correctly, just around the time when Lolita23q went on hiatus and I was wondering whether to do go solo or not, that's when MIYAVI and bobo started their activities in his current style. I bought a ticket and went to see them live, but when he frst started doing his current style, there weren't any people in the audience.
Saga: You bought a ticket?
Ryosuke: Actually, I've been a big fan of his since Due le quartz. Ever since MIYAVI went solo, I've always bought tickets go see his milestone lives. By myself.
Saga: By yourself? Really?!
Ryosuke: Really. Every time I go see him, I always learn something and I think "I'll work hard so I can become like him". When he went solo, didn't -miyavi- always have this vigour when it came to activities? But when he first started the two-person style, there were so few people in audience it would be unimaginable these days. But the things he is doing is clearly progressing even further than what he had done up until then. That was the biggest thing that made me want to become a solo artist.
Saga: I see... So it was his influence. -miyavi- used to be in the same management company as us, so I saw things that were happening back then, and once when he went overseas, he came back as a different person. He would start speaking English out of the blue. At that time, the people arond him had questions marks about him, like "-miyavi-, what's wrong?" and "I don't know what you're trying to do".
Ryosuke: Oh.
Saga: In that kind of mood, he pushed forward on his own path, and pushed completely through... I think that inside of himself, he had discovered something amazing and returned to Japan, and is sticking to what he wants to do, even if under tough circumstances. I think that because he stuck to his guns, he's able to do what he is doing now. I mean, no one else is doing what he does.
Ryosuke: He is a one-of-a-kind of person.
Saga: He may have had a really rough period, the kind that Ryosuke was talking about earlier, but now he is playing solo shows at Makuhari Messe3. You only sing at WING WORKS lives, right?
Ryosuke: Yes. Actually, there are also some of my solo recorded songs that don't have any real bass sounds. I think that a synth bass would work better there. I make clear distinctions there (laughs).
Saga: I think that is perfectly fine to do. If it's not necessary for the song, then there is no need to put it in the song. Often, there are people who say things like "What a traitor", when a bassist puts his bass down and takes up the microphone. I hate those kind of people. It's nonsense.
Ryosuke: Saga, I wish you were there to say that to my fans right after I went solo (laughs).
Saga: (laughs). I mean, Ryosuke is still doing music. What I really understand from this conversation is that he didn't become a musician because he really wants to play the bass. That's not the order of events.
Ryosuke: That is completely true.
Saga: For example, if in your band, you we were to disregard the vocalist and start singing, you might face criticism. But he is doing solo activities prepared to take on the risks and taking responsibility for what he is doing. You are free to express what you want and how you want. Actually, anything goes.
Ryosuke: That's right. Even before that, there was a period where I was DJing, so I had no objections to standing on stage without a bass, and if I had to say which, the music I want to do with WING WORKS has complex basslines, so I thought it was only natural that I devote myself to singing, so I could produce something of high quality. If I had wanted to do punk music, I think I would be singing while playing the bass.
Saga: Yeah.
Ryosuke: But it's just that my roots are not punk music. That's why I made the instant decision of setting down the bass.
Saga: That was probably the obvious answer for you, right?
Ryosuke: It was.
Saga: It just so happens that the way for him to be himself turned out that way. But don't the people watching not know that? The true Ryosuke?
Ryosuke: Well, I've not been able to communicate that well.
Saga: So there is that kind of struggle.
Ryosuke: Yes. By the way, what are your musical roots, Saga?
Saga: My roots... Before I was introduced to the world of bands, I wanted to be a singer-songwriter. Rather than saying I was doing music because I wanted to play the bass, originally, I looked up to people who composed and sang songs. That is where my interest in music began.
Ryosuke: I see!! Why was that the case?
Saga: My mum and dad had CDs at home. Many of them were from their generation, like folk singers, and influential singer-songwriters, like Miyuki Nakajima. As I continued listening to those CDs, I myself wanted to become a person who composed and sang songs. So in order to become a singer-songwriter, I thought I better first learn the guitar, so I tried to learn the guitar. But then when I was in middle school, I saw a videotape of LUNA SEA, and then affected by the poison that is bands (laughs).
Ryosuke: Poison?! (laughs)
Saga: I made the mistake of discovering bands, and I was completely wrecked (laughs).
Ryosuke: The mistake?! (laughs)
Saga: I got on the wrong path of life because of rock music, and now here I am (laughs).
Ryosuke: I understand what you mean (laughs).
Saga: So to make it easier to form a band, I started playing the bass, thinking it the bass would be better... So the biggest part of my roots is the fact I like songs, and that I want to write good songs. Actually, I'm the type of person to not really be fussy about the instrument I play.
Ryosuke: Me too. That I play the bass is just by chance. Or rather, to me, the bass is no more than an output method for me to express myself. When I decided to learn how to play an instrument because I wanted to do music, it just so happened that the bass was the instrument that fit me the best. Actually, there is something that I really wanted to ask Saga.
Saga: What is it?
Ryosuke: Despite the numerous Visual-kei artists out there, there are very few bassists that are in the main composer position. Also, did you also once say that you like U2 and Aerosmith, and your roots are also American music and stadium rock?
Saga: Yes, that's right.
Ryosuke: Did you say that so that the audience could understand your music more deeply?
Saga: That's right. How should I put it... Even if you were to play the music that is your roots in the scene right now, the audience won't understand you well, or rather, the assumption is that the other members are playing your music. Since your musical roots are going through the filter that is the other members, I do wonder if this music is blending well into this scene. For example, by Show singing the songs, that feeling is neutralized well. I think that to have the fans accept this music in this way is also possible.
Ryosuke: The other day, Show had said to me "Since going independent, A9 will first put out music that is highly artistic". I did certainly think that "PRISMATIC" sounded like Maroon 5.
Saga: Yes, yes.
Ryosuke: So now that I've learned about Saga's musical roots, I can understand that. At the same time, I think that it's amazing because music with that perspective and that approach cannot be found anywhere else in the Visual-kei market. You did a tour in Spring for that release, and didn't you also do a live where you returned to yor roots this Summer?
Saga: That's right.
Ryosuke: Looking at A9 from then on, the mode is completely different to when they had made "PRISMATIC". Up until Summer, I guessed that at that rate, you would become the Japanese U2 or Radiohead, and I was looking forward to it. I really, really like "PRISMATIC".
Saga: Thanks (smiles).
Ryosuke: But... So why did you return to your roots? Isn't it only obvious that you could have kept on going in that direction?
Saga: We can, and we could if we wanted to. But... Looking back on our activities over the last 12 years, we had slowly begun to stray off the path and made new music, saying things like "Our last album was like this, so let's make the next one like this". As we were doing that, wouldn't that also mean that people would have this view of us, like "So A9 is this kind of band"? At the same time, we had also built up our own aesthetic; we had our own branding, or rather, there was this idea of what we should be like, or what we wanted to show. So when it came to making music that did not stray from that idea, it was a situation in where the broad scope of song arrangements was getting narrower. Because we made it a point to not use the methods that we had used before.
Ryosuke: I see, I see.
Saga: Having been doing that, when we were in our 12th year, it had felt like we had done all that we could do. We also had a clear understanding of what we were good at and what we weren't good at. So "PRISMATIC" is to A9, the musical approach that we are the worst at, and the thing we avoided the most to date. Just as I had thought, it's the type of song that is the most difficult for Show. "PRISMATIC" is the song we wrote using the last of the last of what we had, which we hadn't used before.
Ryosuke: I see.
Saga: By writing that song, we had nothing left. I had started to think that if I was to make any more music with a new approach, there was no longer a need to do it as A9.
Ryosuke: Is that so....
Saga: As I was thinking this, we ended up doing a live where we returned to our roots. What I thought after doing the live was that the songs we wrote at the time were a pure manifestation of what we were thinking, and we weren't held prisoner to what we had done in the past. Although we didn't have any musical knowledge, though low quality, the songs we wrote then were good. And at the same time, I wondered what it would be like if we wrote songs with that writing style. It made me want to try writing songs in the same way we did 12 years ago. Strictly speaking, although it would be impossible to do exactly the same thing, there are some things that we have picked up over the last 12 years. In particular, after making our major debut, we were in a blessed environment of having famous producers produce our songs, and we learned many things. There were many things that we had learned, having producers such as Hajime Okano, who also produced for L'Arc~en~Ciel, Akira Nishihira, and Satoru Hiraide, who also produced for UVERWORLD, produce our work.
Ryosuke: That is wonderful.
Saga: But at the same time, we also know that there is no correct answer when it comes to music. And depending on the producer, they might say the exact opposite.
Ryosuke: Right.
Saga: But that is something we learned only after having worked with many producers.
Ryosuke: It's like you came full circle in these 12 years.
Saga: Yeah. In the end, it's just a matter of whether it feels good or bad to that person. But it's only because we took the long way and came full circle that I've come to think that I want to value what I like and what I want to do with A9, and that I want to return to our roots, no matter what others may say. In that respect, we might be coming closer to our first releases... I would like to do music in the way we had done back then, without thinking about anything, but with the brain and body that I have now, in its 13th year.
Ryosuke: I see. It's kind of similar the mode that I'm in right now.
Saga: Yes, maybe.
Ryosuke: Now that we are active as Lolita23q once again, we're writing new songs now. There was blank for a few years, and although it does feel like we've gone back in time, I don't think I can be satisfied with just that. Looking at the times now, my feeling is that I want to show the people who have never seen us before something new.
Saga: Yeah. So you start full-scale activities from next year?
Ryosuke: Yes. We will return to our roots with the five official members.
Saga: "Returning to our roots" is a common phrase for Lolita23q and A9 in our 2017 activities.
Ryosuke: That's right. Let's do something together, as two bands that are in the same mode.
Saga: Since both of our bands are aiming for the same vector and have the same mood, it might be interesting if we could do something together. Let's have a party!
Ryosuke: Let's do it!!
Saga: But before that... let's go have a drink together. There's still plenty more that I want to talk about that we don't have time for here (laughs). There are also things that we can't talk about here (laughs).
Ryosuke: Let's do it (laughs)!!
1 A livehouse in Takadanobaba, Tokyo, and one of the "holy places" for Visual-kei bands. 2 After Lolita23q went on hiatus, some of the other members formed other bands. 3 A very large exhibition hall, which holds about 9000 people.

To Stay Human
Sanzio did his best to ignore the hands that clawed (ineffectually) at his forearms, though it was a bit harder to ignore the teeth that sank into the palm of his hand when it came up to cover the woman's mouth. Just another explorer, tromping through the snow to see rare sights and natural wonders. A foolish innocent who wandered too far off the beaten path and saw things they shouldn't have, learned thing's they shouldn't have. He paused for the shortest of moments, before his arms ripped away from each-other, twisting her neck in a quick snap.
Ryosuke had asked him, during one of the first training missions the boy had been sent on with him, why he would use his blades for the soldiers and guards, but always kill the mission target with his hands. "I wouldn't be able to feel it through the sword." he'd answered. The older man had just laughed, and called him a 'vicious little thing'. "It's always the quiet ones that are the real monsters, hm?"
Sanzio hadn't bothered to correct him, but it was the exact opposite. The guards, the soldiers, they fought back. They took their roles, knowing that they would fight, that they would die. The targets were always innocent. A traveler who saw something they shouldn't have, or an unknowing link in a spy's information chain. It would be far too quick with a sword. Far too simple. It would be so easy to grow numb to the simple flick of a hand and a blade parting flesh three feet away. Tactile sensation no different from going through kata in the courtyard.
But with his hands, with his arms, he could feel their pulse. Their struggle to breathe one more lungful of air, to clutch on to one more minute of life. The uncoordinated flailing of the untrained, the innocent, the desperate. He hated it, every time, and he never hated it any less. That was the point.
It should never be easy to take an innocent life. The other Shadows, they would just slit her throat and let her body drop, no more important to their memories than the snow she falls in to. Sanzio had to remember them.
Carefully, he kneeled down as he lowered her backwards into the snow, etching the shape of her face, the color of her eyes and hair and skin, into his memories.
Remembering them was all that reminded him he was still human these days.

what do you think of aquakana chances to be endgame? lately i am wondering and feeling like it wouldn't make sense for them to end up with anyone else as much as i see hate towards them
Hey anon~ :) good to see you!
I'm confident about the predictions I make about my series. I've got so many things right thus far. Here's some (spoilers up to ch 160!)
I predicted that Aqua had feelings for Kana all along. (Ever since I picked up the comic)
I predicted that Ryosuke and Nino would have visited the hospital, not Hikaru, immediately when 155 dropped. (The guy has no reason to kill Gorou, and he wouldn't have had an idea about it if he were to send Ryosuke to Ai on his behalf)
I had a vague idea that Ryosuke and Nino would have been close acquaintances after her mention of him in 158, I was like, wait, why is she talking about him like that? were they dating..? but I didn't write that because it felt like a stretch;; turns out they REALLY were; (I have no idea why the heck would nino wish to date such a guy but I guess...okay..)
I predicted that Hikaru would have only wanted to send the bouquet to Ai, and he never intended to "scare Ai" after I read CH 154.
I predicted exactly what Ai would have said in her video message towards Hikaru, that she lied about being unable to love him and actually had feelings for him all along (when CH 152 was the newest chapter)
I predicted that Ai would have trusted Hikaru with her children and had him in her plans about her future (I had a vague idea of it when I saw her making the the phone call)
I predicted that Hikaru would have wanted to raise his children with Ai but she left him on an abrupt note to "save/protect him from the burden that is her"(after 152)
I predicted that he would have had no idea why she broke up with him, but also that he would have been totally unable to hold her back as it did (also after 152)
These are just some of the things that I was able to guess in an accurate sense (I've been SCREAMING about a lot of these things since June? July? and it's all confirmed now despite Aqua claiming there's somehow more to it)... if my line of thinking is correct, then there's a lot more that I will guess right. I'm looking forward to that being a reality. At this point, I feel like I can predict the "feelings" of the characters of this series if I really set my heart to it.
I can't predict the exact outcomes that'd result from these emotions the characters have, but I still can see the things they have very low chance of doing, to say the least. So, the things that WON'T happen or won't do. It's a bit like erasing the odds, but there are still many possibilities left...
There's hate towards Aqukana?? Why?; I don't really understand why they'd have the hate but I guess it may happen..
However, they're the ones that's got me back reading the series! If you see my older onk fanarts from last year, they were the ones I drew! :)
When I saw that ep where Aqua confesses he had feelings towards Kana all along to his visions of Gorou in.. CH 150? was it? I was like YES!!!! I knew it!! There is no way that it could have been any other way... it's been so obvious... Even before the whole Hikaai thing hit me like a truck, Aqua and Kana was a ship that was just...there. It's something that's very strong in the plot despite you liking it or not.
Aqukana is the endgame ship. They like each other and the feelings they have are mutual, so it's definitely going to be a given that it's going to be the ship for both characters.
However, whether they would actually end up together is a bit ambiguous… I feel there's high chance that they will come to at least acknowledge their feelings towards each other. Aqua's too focused on his parent's affairs right now for him to focus on his own love life, so we first need to get that out of the way.
If onk gets a "happy ending", then they can end up together.
Here's an analysis I have of them: Kana trying to be Aqua's "favorite idol" is actually what keeps her from becoming his lover. The fact that she will graduate from being one is ACTUALLY a good sign in terms of the ship's outcome. Ironically, she has to step down from being one in order to be on an equal standing with Aqua and come to love each other as a person.
The more I read this series, I feel that this work is emphasizing that fantasizing about the other party is not the right way to love. Ai struggled because people failed to recognize her flaws and insecurities as a person, and people like Nino and Ryosuke could not forgive her for being human(which is such... an ugly, and an entitled thing to do. They have no right to have treated her like that.) People send out expectations then get disappointed all on their own because their "idol" could not fulfill their delusions. Even if they're the "good" fantasies, at the end of the day, you have to accept that idols are just people too. I feel that's the message and what onk has been trying to express as a whole.
Gorou's approach from the very first chapter was a lot healthier as a fan, he accepts Ai's feelings when she says she wants her happiness as a mother as well as being an idol, and he's there to support her and her wants. He's the "good fan", while people like Ryosuke and Nino are his polar opposites.
Hikaru's approach about her was actually pretty decent too. In 154, he recognizes that Ai was just an ordinary girl. He STILL loves her despite her flaws and even while believing she didn't love him back. That's why I started to think maybe he really is the right guy. I understood why Ai said all these things about him. I keep stressing this, but he didn't like her because Ai was an idol, he loved her because he thought they understood each other and felt "they were the same". They really are in many ways. I'm going to draw something based on that after I reply to you )
Aqua actually understands Kana really well, as a person. That's a good sign. That part was prominent in the earlier part of the series, when he supports her having disguised as Pieyon in ch 35. He liked her and took an interest in her even before she was scouted as an idol, and that's pretty similar to how Hikaru was towards Ai. Aqua doesn't like Kana because she's an idol, he likes her because she's hardworking, and loves the determination, the strong gazes she has. He's also aware that she's sensitive and has a sharp tongue. (ch 150) These traits of Kana doesn't really go anywhere because that's how she is as a person. He will love her, whether she becomes his favorite idol or not.
So regardless of the fact he does go to watch her concert of not(it would be better if he does), their future is bright, if Aqua decides to accept his feelings and head to the future. I feel like he's working towards that in fact, even in the end of 160, he has those sparkling white star eyes, doesn't he? He's telling his dad to "disappear", and that's a warning, I don't think he's going to stab him. If you're up to actively hurting someone, you don't show off the cards you have. If he was going to stab Hikaru, he would have just gone and done so without a word. What Aqua's doing here is telling him to leave. From Aqua's perspective, if Hikaru would just listen to him and leave on the spot somehow, he'd really just be able to head to the future with Ruby...(I don't think things would go that smoothly since this is a manga and things need drama, though.)
But I don't know just what events would break out in the story just yet. If there's just one ship that'd happen in onk at this point, it'd be Aqukana with all the buildup they have, but there's just so many things that can happen in between that could occur as an obstacle. The author might suddenly? decide that they want the ending to be "bittersweet", "realistic", or have everything turn out to be all "fiction" and end the story on a note that it's the heart that matters no matter the outcome or whatever.. it's really up to them to decide although I really do want them to get a happy ending after all this; I feel like the authors could have this desire to put in a twist to it all and leave a bad taste to it which I really hope not. I wouldn't like to see that happen after seeing all the suffering the characters had to go through.
However, like what you said, it doesn't make any sense at this point for either Kana of Aqua to end up with someone else at this point. At least that much of it is clear. I'm with you on this one, and I can firmly say you're right. So either they do end up together or they end up with no one.
Overall, I predict the chances of them actually becoming a real, happy, loving, dating couple to be about 80%. The other 20% comes off from the authors putting in a twist for.. some value they may have as a creator!
Thanks for the question~ It's been awhile I talked about Aqukana, but they're also something I can talk about! :) I may be able to do that more if the plot touches on their relationship. RN the dad is sort of taking all the spotlight.. but there's going to be more to the plot, I'm sure. I like the dad, but he isn't the main character.
I really do hope they get the development and some proper closure!! The fact that they held out so long to get their screen time means that it's going to be handled in the very end. That's not a bad sign, quite the contrary, actually. If anything, there is going to be more that's going to come out of their relationship, I just don't know if they WILL handle it delicately but I hope they do!

Gekidan Genesis Part 1: Presence
Tumblr media
Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Wow I finally post something new it’s about time lmaoo. Under the cut as always
Break time. On the TV was a talk show featuring Theater Genesis, who seemed to be a staple topic as of recent.
Genesis—
Their title of the current top of the musical theater industry is not an exaggeration. It seems DCT’s members have taken an interest in them. Their eyes are glued to the TV as they engaged in lighthearted conversation.
Sousei: It’s probably because their debut performance is coming soon… the media probably thinks that if they put them in shows, they’ll announce the date. Just recently they were featured in another program.
Madoka: If I’m not mistaken… He said he’ll send us an invitation, right?
Remembering what Haiba-san said here a few days ago, Sousei nodded, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Sousei: That’s right. Considering the date of their performance, it should be about time it arrives.
Jin: What’s this about?
Madoka: Ah, Jin-san… and Iori-kun too. Good work today.
The two, who had just finished practicing, came back [to the office] and approached Sousei. Their eyes went to the TV… when Jin saw what was on, he smiled bitterly [1].
Jin: … I see. It’s them, huh? They’ve been appearing often recently. Not just on television. I saw them on a theatre magazine just recently.
At Jin’s words, Iori changed the channel. Even when he did, the [current channel’s show’s] host was also talking about Genesis.
Iori: … Seriously, again?
With a small sigh, he kept changing the channels, his fingers getting more restless every time. But it seems currently, every channel was talking about the same thing
Iori: Everything’s the same difference….
Muttering in displeasure, Iori put down the remote control. And on the TV was….
Ryosuke: I want to stand on the top of Japan’s musical theatre industry. That is why I came back to this country.
Madoka: (Ah…)
Kuroki-san’s low, deep voice can be heard. And on the screen was a video stream of his return to Japan.
Ryosuke: The first target is Yumeiro Company. Please look forward to it, everyone.
And then the video cuts to a studio, where Haiba-san was sitting and being interviewed.
Commentator: What a surprising remark! The audience must also be surprised~! Speaking of, is it true that not just Kuroki-san, but all of Genesis feel this way?
At that question, Haiba-san smiled stiffly, looking troubled. It was a fake smile, sculpted just like a statue.
Takuma: Yumeiro Company is our target, indeed. Because they are quite special in the Japanese musical theatre industry.
Takuma: As Genesis started from scratch, we did look to them as a guide. It is out of the question that we harbor hostile feelings towards them. As for Kuroki, it’s due to his strong desire to raise the level of Japanese musical theatre as a whole.
Takuma: It is, I think, a remark he made based on his awareness of Yumeiro Company’s popularity within the country.
Hinata: Ugh, turn it off… Genesis this, Genesis that. I’m done with that.
Saying that in a disgruntled voice, Hinata finally turned off the TV. And just like that, he flops onto the table. Seeing him like that, Kaito shrugged and said,
Kaito: Yeah, they aren’t shutting up about them. Repeatedly hearing the same shit is not my thing.
Kyoya: But well… I’m kind of glad they view us as their goal…
Sousei: Makes me wonder if they’re genuine, though.
Iori: You got that right. I met Sudou Gaku recently and… he seemed to hate the very sight of me. It wasn’t the bright “Let’s have a healthy competition!” sort of thing.
Saying that with a sigh, he turned to look at Subaru-kun, who was standing near him. … He looked troubled.
Subaru: I haven’t met Aizawa-san face to face but… hearing all this is… honestly kinda shocking. And I thought that maybe… one day, if we get to stand on the same stage, he’d teach me about action scenes.
Kaito: You’re so naïve, muscle brain. You don’t know their true nature.
Hinata: Agreed. I thought so too when I met Rei-san.
Kyoya: It seems Shiramuku doesn’t have experience with theatre but his singing… I’ve seen a video on the net of him singing in a choir during his school’s cultural festival and… I’m honestly surprised. In the middle, when he sang solo, I could tell the amount of skill and stage presence he has.
Silence spreads as they all thought about Genesis. Among the quiet, I started thinking about Haiba-san. The way he smiled here and the way he smiled on TV---
Madoka: (Shiramuku-san is like that, and Haiba-san too, somewhat…)
That’s right. It feels like they were hiding something behind their smiles. Remembering that, worry slowly starts piling up. It felt like a ‘something’ was threatening to throw us off our feet. To that presence, I tightly balled my fists…
To be continued….
Notes:
1)  Not sure whether it was Jin who smiled bitterly or Iori, or both. I just assumed it was Jin.
2) It took all my willpower not to make Hina say “I’m done with those bitches.” Lol
3) Subaru was so dejected omg let me hug you son
4) This was fun bc they Do Not Know Yet lmao dw guys Genesis is just a bunch of gay memes-
Thanks for reading!

It felt like an enternity before the door behind them felt shut. Ryosuke looked over his shoulder as Chris seemed to linger by the door, wondering what was going through his mind. He pressed his lips together, the anger about Kazuya almost gone, replaced by the feel of guilt.
"Are you sure you're fine with this?" Ryosuke said and looked away.
"It's fine." There was almost no hesitation. Almost. "That's what friends are here for. Plus it's also about Youichi." Ryosuke wasn't entirely convinced and Chris could tell.
"We must've had a lot going on in that earlier life if he hates me that much." He wasn't sad, but he has to admit he was affected somehow. "So I'm asking once more and please be honest. Is it really fine?"
Chris walked past him, moving his hand to make the dusty best comfy and sitting on it slowly. "It's not like we'll get you to control it in a day or two. But if we do, you'll have power that goes beyond anything you were once capable to do." He gestured him to sit opposite of him. "Let's start."
It must've taken them a few hours until the sun was setting and Chris was calling it a day. Ryosuke withdrew to meditate by himself and Chris knew there was no excuse to not look for Kazuya - and talk about what happened earlier.
It wasn't hard to find him but Chris lingered behind him as Kazuya was watching a man through a window.
"You could visit him one last time", he said calmly, although there was heaviness in his voice.
thatbastardmiyuki:
Kazuya scoffed and leaned against Chris. “Can you take the earring off? Only use it when you need it?”
He looked up at Chris, his eyes heavy. “Why does the Tree make everything so difficult? Honestly, it probably sent him here because it knows he hates me. Maybe it wants us to drain each other.”
Kazuya looked to Ryousuke next. “Whatever. If you’re going to stay here pick a room. I don’t want you in this one all the time staring at us.”
Chris gave Kazuya a nudge at the rude comment. He didn’t get to say anything though as Ryosuke was quicker.
“First of all, if I could get this thing off, I would’ve done so a long time ago.” The earring was glowing again, this time in a dark shade of red. “Second, I’m not here because of you, especially since I don’t even know you.”
He turned to Chris and held his breath when the latter raised his hand.
“You need to calm down”, he said, his eyes glowing. “You’re going to charge up again.” He shifted away from Kazuya to get up, wincing at the pain in his back. “Let’s get you settled.”
Ryosuke nodded, the red on the earring lighter but still visible, even when they left the room. He had no idea that in the meantime, Chris was trying to calm down himself from just how rude and selfish Kazuya had acted upon their friend in need.

Tag people you want to get to know better!
Thanks to @crowcrownprince for the tag o/
relationship status: single, and my aro ace self prefers it that way. Though I suppose living with someone could be good, I hear loneliness can really get to you in the long run. Hmm, better ask around if anyone wants to be my roommate when I move out...
favorite color: I don't have a strong preference, but I do come back to red a lot. It's a bright colour, pops out easily.
favorite food: popcorn! Especially the kind sold by the movie theatre (or at least the one over here). Sadly that's expensive (trust me, I used to buy it often) so I instead tend to buy the regular type from supermarkets.
song stuck in your head: this one song from FFXIV Shadowbringers, but I'm not going to look it up in case I find spoilers. The really determined sounding one, surely you know it.
last thing you googled: "Duke Resident Evil" because a tumblr post mentioned him, and I have no idea who he is
dream trip: hmm, hard to say... I suppose a trip to Rome could be fun? Honestly, as long as I can find some museums or historical sites and go on the trip with friends, I'm good.
time: 21:19 as of writing this part
last book you read: uh, good question... Probably Thud! by Terry Pratchett, if manga doesn't count. If it does, then Moriarty the Patriot 1 by Ryosuke Takeuchi and Hikaru Miyoshi.
last book you enjoyed reading: Thud! I absolutely adore Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, and this is one that I happen to own, and so have re-read multiple times. I especially enjoy the ones with Vimes, he's a fun character to follow.
last book you hated reading: hmm, I wonder... I can't really remember one I really hated, nor which one I read last, but I do remember not enjoying The Unknown Soldier by Väinö Linna, but that was because I had to read it for school, and was quizzed on nonsensical minor details such as "what fish did this character mention in his joke?" I never finished the book, though I probably should, considering it's one of those books that every Finn should've read, or at least vaguely know the story of.
bonus: I would be just the worst at being a Let's Player, because I tend to pause a lot to think about something that's vaguely related to the topic at hand, which leads to lengthy pauses in doing quests or progressing a cutscene or what have you while I ponder about the meaning of fish in my life, or how a specific injury would affect me. Then again, maybe there's a market for streamers like that.
favortite thing to cook/bake: dumle muffins! Very tasty, and biting into a muffin and getting warm, melted dumle in the middle is just so heavenly. Though I cook that rarely, so I guess I should say spinach pancakes instead, they're my go-to when I'm alone and need to cook something.
favorite craft to do in your spare time: I've been recently into watercolour pencils, so I'd say sketches of characters being coloured with those.
most niche dislike: the sentence "never change," because while it's meant as a compliment about how you like someone's feature so much you wish they'd keep it forever, I strongly believe in the necessity and inevitability of change, and to me telling someone to never change feels akin to a curse.
opinions of circus(es) now and in history: I love the aesthetic, give it to me any day thanks. I remember enjoying going to a circus as a kid, I should look for a chance to visit again... When it comes to their history, I don't know much, but I've heard plenty of freak circus stories to feel pity for those situations.
do you have a sense of direction and if not what is the worst way you ever got lost: let's put it like this: my go-to way of finding my way to the quest marker in games is to go directly there, no matter what mountain or ocean stands in my way, or if the quest gives told me to just take the boat or turn left over there. As for the worst way... As a kid, I once was near a forest with some people, and we found a frog we decided we had to take to a puddle. We went into the forest, set the frog into a puddle, did a little loop and just missed the exit, prompty getting lost for a few hours. I was wearing shorts I think, and the forest was full of nettles. Next time we hung out at the place again, a few weeks later, we went into the same forest, and purposefully got lost. Kids, I guess.

Okada Junichi x Yamada Ryosuke (Cinema * Cinema 86)
Tumblr media
Cross-talk
Tumblr media
The bond between Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Souji that was cultivated naturally
Okada: I feel like it is sort of like fate that I get to play Hijikata Toshizo. I can't explain it well, but I always thought it would be a role that I would play. When we were filming, it felt like the [character] was looking at me.
Yamada: On the contrary, I was not familiar with the history at all. I also had to learn about the Shinsengumi from scratch.  It was my first time participating in an authentic historical drama, so everything on set, including sword fighting, was new to me.
Okada: But Yamada-kun is a once-in-a-millennium talent. Your sword fighting was really perfect.
Tumblr media
Yamada: (Tongue tied) I'm happy [to hear that] ...
Okada: Before we started shooting, he said to me, "Please teach me all the things I don't know." We would rehearse together and explore ways on how he could show an Okita-like fighting style. That said, Yamada-kun could do it right away. That's [why you are] a once-in-a-millennium talent. Did you enjoy your practice?
Yamada: Very much.
Okada: [The training] included wrestling. You must have wondered, "Why wrestling?" (Laughs)
Yamada: At first (laughs). [That’s because] you need to use your waist when you swing the sword, right?
Okada: Yeah. Including the approach, he learned things really quickly.
Yamada: I think there are many actors who want to play Okita Souji. Moreover, Okada-san is Hijikata. However, I would hate for people to think "I'm [only selected for the role] because I'm his kouhai." That's why I want to play [the character] properly.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have the ability [to do it on my own]. So facing that [problem], if I could ask for help, there was no reason for me not to.  But it was not just me [who asked for help].  All members of the Shinsengumi called Okada-san "Teacher!" (Laughs)
Okada: I had the opportunity to choreograph sword fighting scenes in which I was involved. Every time someone finished a sword fight, everyone would look at me as if they were asking "How was it?" (Laughs)
Yamada: We did look.
Okada: Right. That kind of atmosphere sometimes made me feel like Hijikata. Suzuki Ryohei (who played Kondo Isami) was also very good at mood making on set and just like the director of the Shinsengumi, he brought everyone together. In that setting, the relationship between Hijikata and Okita also became apparent.
Yamada: It worked well.
Tumblr media
Okada: Yeah. I feel that we were able to play that naturally. We never talked about "Let's do this!"  It just worked (laughs).
Yamada: Perhaps because you are a senpai who I already know...  But on the other hand, you are my actual senpai, right? Nevertheless, [my character] in the movie was cheeky and I poked Okada-san. That definitely wasn’t something I could do normally.
Okada: Ah ha ha.
Yamada: However, I was surprisingly not nervous when I did it. Since Okita would surely do this.
Tumblr media
Okada: The relationship between Hijikata and Okita was like that of sworn brothers. Although the members of the Shinsengumi might be like that too, but among them, Hijikata, Kondo and Okita had the deepest ties.  I think women like that sort of relationship.
Yamada: That’s true...
Okada: I asked myself “Why is the Shinsengumi so beloved throughout the times?”, after all, it is an important point. They did cruel things and although objectively speaking, you can’t understand them sometimes, there was a trust that existed among these men. There was a bond between them, right? In a sense, this connection transcends life and death.
Yamada: Okita really liked Hijikata-san and Kondo-san. Whether it was during his childhood in his hometown or after he joined the Shinsengumi, Okita's feelings [towards them] had not changed at all.  Although there was a hierarchy and discipline [in the group], they didn't matter. He had always thought that, "I like Hijikata-san and Kondo-san, so I'm in the Shinsengumi."  That's why I wanted to cherish that feeling when I was performing.
Okada: After all, movies that depict human [relationships] are good. Hijikata, Kondo and Okita were historical figures. That's why it was easy for us to play them and we were able to emphasize the connection between these characters. No matter how much Hijikata was feared at that time, the connection between these friends remained the core. Hijikata once said "the purpose of a man’s life is to create beauty" and that represented what he held dear to his heart. Although things were cruel, there was beauty within them. As you see the [story of] the people and the era unfold on screen, it will be nice if this idea is reflected as well.

Yamada went through extreme weight-loss under the guidance of Mr. Okada
Okada: Yamada-kun is cute no matter what. When I watched him working hard, I loved him more and more. Because (of the role), he had lost 8kg, you know. It must have been hard.
Yamada: Yes ... (laughs).
Okada: Suzuki-kun and I are familiar with that (laughs). When he consulted me [on weight-loss methods], I casually said, "You should try dehydration."  It was a hellish method that I don't want to do again, but it is very effective if you need to do it quickly. Yamada-kun really did it. It was hard, right?
Yamada: That was really something...
Okada: You often had to act in that condition. Time passed slower and your movements also became more [laboured]. Although that annoyance... was brewing, you didn’t say it out loud (laughs).
Yamada: Was it brewing? Honestly, on the last day [of the extreme diet period], I thought “it might be good to die” (laughs), but the day after “my” death, I had to film sword fighting [scenes].
Okada: You muttered, "I have sword fighting on this day", I thought you must be concerned (laughs).
Yamada: “What should I do?” I thought and panicked. However, I thought Okada-san and others have experience in [losing weight in a short period of time] and they taught me a lot. Okada-san and Suzuki-san were so detailed that I almost asked, “Are you doctors?”
Okada: I said "Do OO and OO!"
Yamada: "Huh?", I asked as I took notes to research later. However, if I were doing this alone without any knowledge, I might have used some dangerous methods [to lose weight]. Instead, I was able to trim down to the goal weight correctly.
Okada: That was cute. Quietly~ eating almonds while conserving energy (laughs). You were very endearing that way.

Yamada: But when I was filming my “weak” scenes, I was scolded a little by Director Harada (Masato).
Okada: Is that so?
Yamada: I was taking too much time between movements.
Okada: You couldn’t move right (laughs)? I don't think people who have not experienced it would understand. But I like that scene. Hijikata laid down next to Okita, who was suffering from tuberculosis, and said, "I'm going to sleep here today." It showed their relationship. Although it would not come out of his mouth, I think Hijikata felt calm being next to Okita.
Yamada: That's right. For Okita, I think Okita was very lonely. Both the Shinsengumi and Hijikata-san were steadily changing. But when Hijikata-san was in front of the sick “me’, he turned back to the old Hijikata-san and snuggled up to him. He showed “me” a side of himself that he never let others see, and “I” liked it.  However, when we were filming the scene, I was just not able to move... that night, when I went to the sauna by myself to reflect [on the mistake], Okada-san also came to the sauna.
Okada: I remember that. But you weren’t scolded [by the director] so much to be worried though. That was just like Yamada-kun.
Yamada: Hm~...
Okada: As expected, a once-in-a-millennium talent will be a perfectionist. Although that's fine.
Yamada: I'm really glad you said that. I'm glad we were able to act together and get closer.
Okada: Hm~.
Yamada: Eh?! We did not get closer?
Okada: Nah, we weren’t that distant to begin with. Well, if we compare [our relationship now] to when we were rehearsing before the shoot, I think we have gotten closer. Yamada-kun gave me the most delicious strawberries I’ve ever eaten.
Yamada: Is that so?! But I'm glad you liked them (laughs).

The movie scenes and lines that left an impression
Okada: In "Joker", the cut when Joker raised his chin and looked up to the sky was memorable.  The lighting was exquisite. I wanted to know the behind-the-scenes scoop for that scene. It was really amazing that the lead actor could push the momentum forward in the movie with just that. He acted like he was invincible. I think it may be an eternal theme for people in the movie business, it is jam packed with the hopes of the actor who wanted to become that*.
*I’m not entirely sure if I interpreted this correctly, but it’s kind of the filler part of the cross-talk anyway, so I am not too concerned about it.
Yamada: The last scene of "Romeo & Juliet". Juliet revived and looked at Romeo with a smile, but Romeo just drank poison. I cannot forget the surprised face of (Leonardo) DiCaprio when he realized that Juliet was alive. He was in pain and then just died...  Couldn’t he wait another 20 seconds?! (Laughs) This is my favorite movie.

Memorable scene: Okita looking outside grabbed my heart
When the increasingly sick Okita looked at the [view] outside from his room with a hollow expression, the cut was beautiful. The trailer included that scene but when I watched it as part of the finished movie, it definitely left an impression. I saw up close the hard work Yamada-kun himself put in. Since he asked me for advice on how he should [show Okita] using the sandanzuki (the 3 stage thrust, Okita’s special move) while he was ill, I knew about the scenes he was filming. I didn’t actually see the filming of the scene where he was vacantly staring outside and fading away quietly. I saw it for the first time in the final cut of the movie and it grabbed my heart.
Message from Senpai to Kouhai: The image of Yamada-kun doing his best made me cry (laughs)
Yamada-kun is very smart. A good guy. That’s why I think you can indulge yourself a bit. However, you are not in a position to be indulgent, so you won’t do that and that is Yamada-kun [in a nutshell]. There are also a lot of responsibilities you must shoulder in the group.  There are many things you need to care about, to think about, and when I saw you working hard to bring smiles to everyone’s faces, I wanted to cry (laughs). Well, you are great. I hope you can fly high and soar in this splendid era.

Memorable scene: I wanted to fight with everyone in Goryokaku
The Goryokaku scene was one where I thought “I wanted to be there”. I wanted to fight together with Hijikata-san, if not, at least I might watch the filming. What was I doing then… I was probably at another job. It was Hijikata-san’s final battle scene, the fight was crackling, he rode a horse too, anyway, it was cool! Although it was a sad scene, you could instantly understand Hijikata-san’s way of life. I was fascinated. It was so cool. I also wanted to ride a horse (laughs).
Message from Kouhai to Senpai: As my senpai in life, I respect Okada-san.
Okada-kun was unusually gentle. Really, like a teacher. When I asked you about things I didn’t know, you would answer no matter what I asked. Moreover, you are not annoyed [by the questions] even a little. It’s not just with me, the way you accept everyone is amazing. There is no distance between you and the staff. As a leader, Okada-san, you made sure the mood was harmonious, so everyone wanted to get close to and talk with this Okada-san. Not only on set but in other places as well. As my senpai in life, I respect you from the bottom of my heart.
Back Shot Story
When Okada senpai got praised by the kirakira Yamada-san, he shyly said, “Is that so!”. When such an Okada-senpai saw Yamada-san’s potential in historical drama, he got excited excited. “After sword fighting, let’s ride horses next! Go practice!”, he suggested excitedly. Does that mean they will act again in a period drama soon?

I finished Star Driver last night. Not among the top best anime I’ve seen but it was a very good 25 episode series. I still think episodes 15 and 16 were the high point of the series, but that last episode came very close to matching them. That was some really intense stuff.
Some random thoughts and musings I have:
- I didn’t enjoy the last third of the show (episodes 17 to 25) quite as much as everything that came before it, though episode 22 and the finale stood out there as highlights. I think a big part of it was because Madoka and Kou got a little too much focus, Takashi got so little focus that I wondered what was even the point of that little plot turn with him, Ginta acting on his own long after his two buddies had already done that made no sense, and something about how Keito and Sugata were handled in the end just felt lacking to me after all the build-up.
- I actually didn’t hate Madoka and Kou as characters, I just didn’t like how they got used.
- Head was one of the best villains I’ve watched in quite a while. I could actually understand him as an individual and where he was coming from with his goal even if the actions he took were indefensible. He had this odd but perfect balance of being both amusing and ominous at the same time whenever he was on-screen, and he got downright psychotic in the finale. Akira Ishida also knocked it out of the park with his performance, which is to be expected.
- The one part regarding Head I wasn’t a fan of? How the whole angle of he and Takuto being father and son went down. By the end I felt like it wasn’t delved into nearly enough. They barely had a personal sort of relationship, and if I wasn’t told outright in the show that they were father and son, I would not have been able to tell. That was another letdown.
- Not sure how I felt about the Wako/Takuto/Sugata triangle either. Her friends were always telling her to “choose one!”, and I guess Wako’s final line in the series about how she loved two boys equally at once was meant to be the big Wham! capper on that, but I kind of figured that out a looong time back. Wako can’t choose, and moreover, she doesn’t think she should have to. She seemed perfectly comfortable with the lifestyle of an OT3 romance.
- So were we meant to assume Kanako got all the islanders onto her big boat for evacuation right before Zero Time was activated that night? I sure hope so. (Kanako = Best Girl!)
- Oh and did they pull a Korrasami moment with Takuto and Sugata at the end there? Again, not exactly a surprise.
- I’ve heard about the movie and how it was a disaster that killed any interest in any new Star Driver. While I feel the series’ story feels mostly complete and standalone as is, there were some dangling threads that could’ve been resolved in a follow-up had one been made. The only new footage in the movie involves Takuya, Wako, and Sugata all fighting new Cybodies in a city, which got me thinking who could be responsible for bringing out new Cybodies if the Glittering Crux Brigade is finished? Well...who was also a big part of Head, Sora, Ryosuke, and Shingo’s past but didn’t get much elaboration? Who was shown to have a pretty high standing with Head, particularly when Vanishing Age took over? Who was shown to be knowledgeable with Cybody science enough to even pull off a human-Cybody fusion? The member of the Glittering Crux who never got his real name spoken once, and ended the series with no real comeuppance whatsoever?
Tumblr media
Yeah, that asshole. I think what makes me think he might’ve ended up playing the main antagonist if the story had continued was some similarities to “Pokemon: Diamond And Pearl Adventure” I was noticing, especially regarding Head. He went full on DPA Cyrus in the finale, except at least Cyrus helped stop the out of control Dialga and Palkia, whereas Head did jack shit when Samekh got cut loose from Zero Time. But I think Head still would have a good chance of coming around to seeing the error of his ways thanks to those closest to him (Takuto, Ryosuke, Fish Girl, Keito, maybe even Shingo and Sora in some way) while his scientist underling takes over as the new and even worse linchpin of a new Glittering Crux.
Had they only bothered to give us a real movie instead of a feature length clip show.
