Had a weird dream. Very disturbing. Not quite a full nightmare, but very close.

TW: disturbing, implied cannibalism, butchering of a live human

I had been asleep less than an hour before I woke up from a dream that included being at some restaurant where someone said something along the lines of "This is the best dish I've ever had!" And this guy at a table with his friend just. Gets up. Mildly resigned. And goes "Then you've never had *name of some weird dish before!" And then he lays down on some metal prep table thing naked and gets very meticulously and precisely fileted alive. Like super thin and precise cuts that get deeper the longer they continue, across his whole body. He's like grunting at the pain at first and talking normally as long as he can while pieces of his flesh are removed from him until he can't. He might have screamed at one point. Possibly when the army of cooks were throwing literal handfuls of seasoning over him while they worked. I remember them picking muscle fibers out from between his ribs and the dark color of it all. The strong sense of unease when he had first stood up to the abject horror of watching him get picked apart to be consumed just because he couldn't let someone's statement about food stand uncontested. I don't know if they would have kept going until he was nothing but a pile of bones and a memory. I don't know if he was intended to survive the process and carry on with his life afterwards. I woke up without finding out but stuck with these thoughts and memories in my head. I think I had tried to interject and defuse the situation before the guy did his thing but nobody was listening or paying any attention to my efforts.

Woke up feeling like I might cry but didn't.

I can tell the sense of horror is going to linger.
