What's so special about Justin that made Brian fall in love with him ?
WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Justin Taylor, my sunshine, my very persistent, romantic son who wants only to be loved and accepted, is a very very special character and close to my little heart.
And Brian Kinney, my precious munchkin with a troubled past and who is afraid of love and commitment, is hopelessly in love with him.
And actually, it makes perfect sense!!
Okay so, Brian meets Justin when heās only seventeen. So VERY young. Brian takes his virginity and well, Justin becomes heavily infatuated with him. Heās asking when he can see Brian again and poor Justin doesnāt understand that he was (supposedly) only a one-night stand. Brian blatantly rejects him and thatās that.
BUT WAIT!!! Apparently, Brian being cold to him didnāt work because heās back again. Brian again, rejects him. This time, heās saying a bunch of other things like he doesnāt believe in love, he believes in fucking etc. then Justin cries and drives away. Then thatās that, right Brian??
NAH. He comes back for a third time! Michael sees him and tells Brian, āItās Justin again!ā and this time Brian says, āLeave him alone. Heās alright. In fact, heās kinda sweet.ā
Hmmmmm strange. Youāre supposed annoying stalker brat who was just a fuck is now āsweetā? And I almost forgot to mention, he apparently almost wore Brian out in 1x01? Wow, thatās weird. No one wears out Brian Kinney and Brian Kinney neveeeeer fucks the same trick more than once, let alone hangs out with them?
Next, him and Justin interact once again in Babylon now and Justin steals the sexy men Brianās dancing with. Brian gets jealous! Except heās not jealous that someone stole his tricks, heās jealous that theyāre all over Justin because itās now clear that he only wants Justin to himself! Justin is, after all, his stalker ;) So he then makes sure that Justin is dancing with him and only him and now heās looking at him and he canāt help but smile because heās impressed with him. Heās impressed because 1) He can sure as hell dance and2) Heās obviously pretty confident in himself to have the courage to do what he did.
Itās now clear at this point that Justin isnāt like any of his other tricks. The fact that Brian even got to the point of remembering his name was already a sign. He obviously has some sort of feelings there for him. Why? He doesnāt know. Yet. All he knows is that thereās something about him thatās different. Something that sets him apart from his other one-night stands. He just canāt quite put his finger on it. At this point, he clearly finds Justin attractive and he likes him enough to be jealous when he sees other men fawning over him.
Itās obvious now that no matter how many times Brian tells Justin to fuck off!! He! just! isnāt! going! to! Heās always going to be there. Isnāt that strange? An incredibly sensitive seventeen year old is constantly being rejected and hurt and yet, he chooses to come back every time? Heās clearly got a lot of guts, especially for a guy his age.
Justinās courage, however, is tested in 1x08 when his asshole father comes into the picture. His own father, is physically hurting Brian, the man he says he loves, right in front of him. Then his dad tells him he can either come home with him in that moment or never come home again. And in barely a few seconds he decides heās never coming home with him ever again. If you ask me, I would say thatās pretty damn brave of him.
And what does Brian do after this happens? He lets Justin stay with him. He could easily tell him to go away and let him deal with it himself but nope. He canāt do that. And when he sees later in the episode that his father was asking Justin to deny who he is, Brian doesnāt let Justin stay at that house. He tells Justin to go back with him.
Iām skipping a few things now (Iām not going to get into Brian going to New York to find Justin bc this is already 50000 words) but eventually, Brian and Justin were able to banter and just act like a bunch of children with each other. That was another sign that Brian was becoming more and more comfortable with having Justin around. I think they just had this connection that Brian didnāt have with anyone else, ya know? It was something new and nice and he clearly liked it.
Itās evident that he enjoys Justinās company. He can be a sarcastic asshole to him but Justin could talk back and be just as sarcastic and sassy. And in 1x12, when he was depressed over Michael and turning down everyone that tried to hit on him, who did he go to? Justin. He asked him to come over and suddenly he was smiling like an idiot, despite everything that was going on.
Soooooo, so far we know Brian likes Justin because heās attractive, heās A+ in bed, heās strong and brave despite his young age, heās nice/fun to be around bc heās just as much of a child as he is (except slightly more mature in some ways hahaha) and he is again, always there. He aināt leavinā no matter how cruel Brian is and Brian was beginning to understand that.
And then comes 1x15! A significant turning point!!! When Brian tells Melanie that Justin isnāt just āanyoneā.
Justin definitely snuck up on Brian. He didnāt know it because he was too busy denying it to himself and everyone around him but Justin became an important part of his life. His persistence and his bravery and his unconditional love for Brian slowly pulled Brian in. It was such a subtle development in season 1 but it was really well-done.
So whatās so special about Justin?Well, you have this really young boy who has some serious issues. With himself, with his father and then his love life. He was exposed to a kind of life way earlier than anyone is even supposed to. And Brian pushing him away didnāt really make things better for him. But Justin Taylor is not the kind of person to give up. No way. When he knows what he wants, he fights for it. He will not take any of your bullshit. Someone hurts someone he loves and cares about? He wonāt take it. Brianās never had that. Heās an asshole to most even the people he loves like Michael and Lindsay but theyāre his family. Justin is different. Justin was not someone he met in high school or college and have been friends with ever since. He was supposed to be a one-night stand and nothing more. Which is why it was even more of a shock not just to Brian but EVERYONE that he was letting Justin in. He told Justin from the very beginning that he was just a fuck and yet, he still kept trying. Just when Brian thought there was only that small group of people who could almost put up with all his shit, Justin came along, put up with it and more. He showed him kindness and love like no one else. Justin also challenged him. And like I said before, I think Brian felt a connection with Justin that he didnāt have with anyone else.
#y'all i was so prepared to turn this into a fucken book but i've been sitting here for hours and i'm officially done!!!!!!!!!#if you wanna know more about this though...............#just watch tha show???#it's all there 4 ya tbh?#~

The itās only time monologue lives in my head rent free. Probably the most devastatingly romantic thing Iāve ever seen
hey anon!
I was literally in tears giffing that sequence. It is the height of peak romanceā¢ļø. No one ever loved anyone more than brian kinney did justin taylor. No number of ilys in the world could *ever* match the intensity of that monologue š

I've been meaning to write this since forever so here goes my take on why Justin Taylor is an amazing character and human being and how his impact on Brian Kinney was so pivotal to him becoming the man we saw at the end of the whole shows series finale. Wherein his love and presence in Brian's life literally changed him forever and without it, he never would've survived.
So when we first meet Justin he's a young 17 year old closeted high school kid, who steps out onto Liberty Avenue one night and this is where his life changes forever. When under a street light outside the club which would in time become to him a second home, he encounters one Brian Kinney. Their eyes meet, they have an instant connection and he goes home with him. In a curious twist of fate which I believe demonstrates they were destined to be, he crazily ends being present at the birth of his one night stand's (so Brian thought) son, and if that wasn't enough he ends up naming him.
He spends the night with Brian and the rest is history.
We see Justin realise that the guy he's fallen for is the most cocky, self important anti love person he could ever meet. But that's no obstacle for Justin, we learn he's one persistent little kid who will fight for what he wants, and stand up for what he believes in.
I know the quote "you became the best homosexual you could possibly be" was Justin's tagline and it did indeed apply to him and we saw how he blossomed from that 17 year old kid into a strong, independent man. But I also think that it applies to Brian too, how he became the best homosexual he could possibly be, all because of Justin Taylor.
Here's my list of reasons how Justin changed him and helped him become the man he knew he was and could be
He helps him become a better father to Gus, he always praises him and actively encourages him to embrace his love for his son pointing out that he's not his father and he is capable of loving his child and being a good influence in his life
Always being his biggest support, his faith in Brian being so strong he literally manifests himself as a hallucination in Brian's mind whilst he's dying on completing the Liberty Ride
Being the no.1 member of the Brian Kinney defence squadā¢ļø, he saves Brian's ass on many occasions which he does so of his own accord. Calling out the author who writes that awful piece about Brian winning the hero award for saving Justin's life, and reassuring him that regardless of what happens he's a hero in his eyes. When he stops the guy from pursuing his sexual harassment lawsuit against Brian, and when his nephew accuses him of assaulting him and getting back Brian's bracelet which he knows means so much to him
Supporting him and enduring Brian's moodswings and secrecy during the cancer arc
One of my favourite things about Justin is that even when Brian is doing something he doesn't agree with the prime example being the Stockwell situation in Season 3, unlike some of the gang Justin NEVER writes Brian off or abandons him. He tells him he's wrong and that he doesn't agree with him, but he doesn't freeze him out or tell him he's lowered his opinion of him. He instead leads by example, the most gorgeous parallels being the moment when he tells Brian he sacrificed his place at PIFA because he wasn't gonna go against his beliefs and apologise to someone who is actively trying to destroy his community and his right to live his life the way he wants
This results in Brian becoming the concerned citizens for truth, in turn doing something so uncharacteristic of himself he sacrifices everything he has for the greater good even quoting Justin's example of sacrifice back at him to show how much he influenced him and that he listens to and respects his opinion a great deal
Post concerned citizens and Brian having lost everything, Justin firstly offers up his own money to help him out and when he refuses this, he orchestrates a fundraiser in which everyone knows that it was Brian (and tbh Justin aswell) who helped save Liberty Avenue and bring down Stockwell
Helping him open and name his own business Kinnetik
Teaching Brian how to love someone back and it not being the most frightening thing in the world and not only that, but making him realise he was capable of doing it. Inspite of Brian's deep rooted belief that people will ultimately leave him, Justin proved time and time again that when he said he loved him, he meant it and that he would choose Brian over and over again
In conclusion the Brian Kinney we see at the end of the series, the man whose grown from not wanting or needing anyone, believing that ultimately love is for suckers and only gets you hurt in the end. Becomes a business owner, a present figure in his sons life and openly shows his love for him. Is a better friend to the people around him and kinder to them and their problems, less selfish and egotistical [I mean he is Brian after all Justin can't perform miracles ;) ]
Sees that love isn't a negative thing and not a detriment to his life like he believed for all those years that by opening his heart and accepting Justin's love for him he became a better man. He realised more of his potential and for all his 'I believe in fucking not love', that night he met that 17 year old kid outside the club where he spent his life just coasting along and thinking he would never need anymore more than once, he encountered a love so strong not even TIME could erase it.
That's the power of Justin Taylor.
