Timeloop snippet
Life before life went a little like this: Lucien again, before again was a constant, elbows pressed to the same obsidian bar. His own reflection shining up at him- gold and red and gold, rudely bright among three hundred carefully chosen gentry, every one clad to themed costume in shades of silver and black. Down that fresh mined, too shining surface, Nesta Archeron as rigid as he was slumped, too-stark collar bone rising out from a lace cloud. A wary blink, when Lucien turned his back on spinning, dancing crowd, and raised a frothing pink flute of champagne her way in acknowledgement. Slow, a bruise on her wrist laid bare by the motion, she’d tipped a tumbler of whiskey his way. A second of thought, seeping past numb boredom and growing hatred to ignite: the mark of fingers, a large hand, dug in Nesta Archeron’s arm. The hideous fucking dress, which, at second look, hid so much of her she might as well not have a shape, a body, at all. Her shining pale face, shadows dark as the bruises oh so carefully made over beneath her flat, grey eyes. Gutted- ash colored- Lucien has seen that gaze burn with the sort of fire that made worlds, free and ferocious and- And Lucien slid down the bar with all the remaining grace he could muster, came to a stop with a safe seats worth of room between. She did not look. Ruinous anger and fractured fucking horror- Lucien swallowed. Opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Nesta interrupted. “You left behind your drink,” she said, gaze once more locked on the wall behind the bar, “They’ll look.” Lucien did as he was told. Returned. Sipped champagne it took endless willpower not to gag on, and said, soft beneath the music, just breath lost under a cacophony of noise. “Do you want to leave?” Back and forth, careful circles never sloshing, Nesta watched the golden liquor in her glass. It smelled like storm clouds- Dawn brewed petrichor, bite like memory itself. Lucien could not stop himself from trying again. “Day,” he whispered, carefully holding himself away. “Summer. Dawn. Across the sea. Autumn. There are places Illyrians can’t go.” Places disappearing quickly- Rhysand had a crown and dying empire he planned to make anew. They wouldn’t all be here, if it weren’t true. “I think,” Nesta said, set down drink a chime, every motion elegance- strength- it took such fucking strength, to bruise High Fae in a way that stuck- Lucien was going to be sick. “I would like to dance.”
#babes we are in IT#how does Lucien know Nesta is a great dancer if they've never danced?#why does the wedding planning take such a turn that there's only pink drinks?#canon Cassian?#why yes#the utter fucker#the Actual First Wedding!#they're both so stubborn about this curse business#truly why is no on thinking#hey#if time is wonky WHAT ABOUT MEMORY?#also yes I think Rhysand is 100% team High King Himself#is that even a question?#(yes sorry also I think canon Nessian is abuse if we even slightly look at what that horrorshow future holds)#Lucien and Nesta always clock each other!#respect each other!#good god just#asking what she WANTS thats my guy#no on has guessed who starts the timeloop yet and i AM LIVING#no grave can hold my body down#nesta/lucien

ISAT is In Stars And Time, if you have the time, watch "So, You're Stuck in a Time Loop!" by youtuber JelloApocalypse, its goes deep enough that you should have gotten the gist of the game without getting spoiled on the ending.
also very sorry that i haven't been crumbing, its crunchtime for me irl and i am ALMOST FREE, so i cant write my crumbs right now :(
also who cares if what you write isn't canon, its great to read all the same. off shoots and what-ifs are always interesting to read.
also, before i send, one last angst crumb:
what if reader was too late in the forest? if the wolf got to landing an injury on one or both of the cubs? knocking one out or perhaps fatally injuring them? imagine how the conscious/surviving cub would react to seeing reader running in to fend off the wolf too late? and imagine them seeing reader attempting to patch up injuries, not knowing if its too late or not.
if they return to their original forms in diyu, well, i guess that would be an easy way to break the curse? sun wukong already escaped once, he could probably do it again. so easy curse break, unless it reapplies itself the moment he leave diyu. would be terrible luck tho, to be a monkey cub all alone far away from the group, unless he was lucky to pop out near them.
i like my angst as much as i like my timeloops, haha.
also feel free to slice my asks if it makes your life easier, i don't mind if you jump back and forth or only answer some, or take longer to answer some than others.
Okay so the ideas of “In Stars and Time” are so cool! I really like what I have seen, personally I don’t care about spoilers so you don’t have to worry about spoiling anything for me! The video was a really fun watch, though with how much it jumped around it was rather confusing, but didn’t really give too many spoilers. Had some fun laughs during it.
OKIE!! I love angst so onto it!!
If one of the cubs get hurt to the point Reader has to worriedly patch them up, she would do so when they get to the village. Carefully wrapping them in cloth as she applies pressure to make sure the bleeding stops.
Throughout their lives neither Wukong nor Macaque have ever had to have someone take care of them like this. Someone frantically taking care of them, and fussing over their injuries and making sure that they are getting better.
For them to wake up or see Reader take care of their mate would send them spiraling in instincts for better or for worse- Their VERY selfish nature would more than likely to go almost full Yandere pretty quickly after that. Of course that would mean they’d have to break the curse (Not that they aren’t going to go Yandere they definitely will be going Yandere in this au, it is a Yandere au after all. They don’t like it when- Ah spoilers hehe~)
Now if one of the cubs are sent to Diyu. If one of the cubs is sent to Diyu then they would undoubtedly return to their regular forms, not only one but both would actually.
The curse that holds the two of them actually breaks if they are separated as is was a curse set to the both of them at the same time with the same spell. So if this were to happen there would be no more curse. (Whoever was sent to the Diyu would cause absolute devastation there though as they break out)
In this AU the DIYU had only captured Wukong the first time, however I know that in JTTW both of them end up in the DIYU during their fight. So we know that they can both end up there, personally in my au Macaque and Wukong are relatively equal in power. Each having their own skills that they are better in of course.
But basically if one were to die, then they would revert back to their Warlord Form, which would definitely freak Reader out. And she would get captured A LOT faster, at this point they wouldn’t kill her, they don’t see her as wife material quite yet but since they won’t kill her it would still happen.
Reader would end up on Flower Fruit Mountain starting off as a servant, one who the cubs of the mountain really like.
And it wouldn’t take too long for the warlords to fall in love with her when she’s always by them, as afraid as she is of them.
If this were to happen they’d find her fear cute at first, so it wouldn’t be as soft of a love story at first (I use soft because it’s the only word I can think of, Wukong and Macaque try to be soft but we all know court-napping isn’t actually soft)
Ba: “What is this woman doing here my king?”
Wukong: “She is going to be a servant.”
Ba: “You both seem to like this new servant you brought in.”
Wukong and Macaque: *both with bruises from getting into a fight with each other and finally admitting they like Reader to each other* “… Yeah, we do.”
Ma: “Go on dear, you wished to see the flowers didn’t you.”
Reader: “No-No I need to get my work done. I don’t want the Kings to be mad at me.”
Ma: *Thinking* ‘You don’t see how they will NEVER be mad at you, do you.’
I loved this ask!! Thank you for sending it, and I hope that you love this!
Comments, reblogs and likes always welcome!

Breaking the Timeloop, chapter 1: Henry, this is Henry
Thanks for showing support for this, guys. I hope you like it. The first chapter mostly outlines the “laws” of this fic’s universe, which are based on popular Reddit theories of the time. They’re outdated now, but made for a nice story.
---
Henry Stein stepped into Joey Drew Studios, apprehensive as to what he might find. Returning to the studio had seemed like such a small favor to make his ex-business partner and old friend happy. Joey Drew had seemed so remorseful, and so much calmer and kinder than he had been back then. Still, as soon as Henry was staring down the studio's halls, lifeless and decaying but otherwise unchanged, he was reminded of the time he'd spent working in them. In those years, Joey Drew had shown an ugly, selfish, twisted side of himself to Henry. One that Henry had all but forgotten about. Who knew what he'd wanted from having Henry return?
With a start, Henry realized that he was holding two objects in his hand, neither of which he recalled bringing in: a strange, hand-mirror shaped instrument, and a book with the words, READ IMMEDIATELY written large in ink over the entire expanse of the cover. Henry obeyed the text.
Henry? This is Henry. This'll come as a surprise, but you're stuck in a time loop, buddy. You seem to lose your memory every few loops. After a few hundred loops, though, I figured that out and started this journal. This way, you can learn from my mistakes and hopefully have a better chance of getting out of here.
I don't know why I'm here. That makes it pretty difficult to guess what needs to be done to get out. My best guess is that Joey Drew put me in this time loop so that I could fix his mess. Keep your eyes out for any indication that this is not the case, but for now, focus on trying to save as many people as possible.
Follow these rules:
1. Write down anything significant you learn. If you end up in Joey Drew's apartment, write everything you need to down, because it'll be your last chance to do so before a new loop begins.
2. Don't be afraid to die. This time loop effectively makes you immortal. Take risks to experiment.
3. Protect this book at all costs. When Joey Drew sends you back into the studio at the end of a loop, transfer it and the seeing tool to your right hand to ensure it will be preserved.
The next page contains a table of contents. This page contains a list of the creatures you'll encounter. Please read it.
Ink creatures in general
Each ink creature was either made with a soul, or took on an imprint. The ones with souls hold the memories of the people they once were. I'll start with the ones with souls.
Sammy Lawrence
Yeah, that Sammy Lawrence. Sorry, bud, but you had to learn sometime that Joey created a real tragedy. Sammy isn't your chipper, if easily annoyed old friend anymore. He's an ink-covered loon who worships Bendy (who I'll get to later) to the point where he's willing to use you as a human sacrifice. He mostly lurks in the first basement floor and second to lowest floor of the studio. However, since he worships the ink demon, he can be anywhere instead of hiding away from him as most ink creatures do. Bendy is still malicious to him occasionally, however. He's almost invariably malicious at first, but there are ways of saving him. See pages 34, 52, and 57 for how to befriend him. He's a powerful ally as he runs a cult of lost ones and searchers. Times befriended: 63/584 (since I started counting) Times killed: 311/584
Susie Campbell/Alice Angel (scarred)
Susie Campbell's soul was transferred into an Alice Angel clone. Be extremely careful around her, as she is capricious and has no qualms with murder. She is mostly found on the ninth floor, where she has a fairly significant portion of the studio sealed up to protect herself from the ink demon. She has access to a lot of machinery in there, and can control the elevator to some extent. Don't fall into her web-she has arguably adapted to surviving and protecting herself here better than anyone. She can also be found on level S. Do not use the elevator unless she either hasn't met you, or is dead. Be especially wary of her if you're traveling with a Boris. She kills them to use their organs. For how to befriend her, go to page 78. For ways to kill her, go to pages 7, 12, and 21.
Times befriended: 3/584
Times killed: 105/584
The Projectionist
A mechanical creature containing the soul of Norman Polk. He shows no signs of sapience. I never liked the guy, but he didn't deserve this. He likes dark areas, but he can be found anywhere because he doesn't have the sense to beware the ink demon. You'll know him when you see him, and when you do, run. There are ways to kill him, though: see page 54.
Times befriended: /584
Times killed: 9/584
Bertrum Piedmont
Apparently, after I left the company, Joey tried to make a Bendy-themed amusement park which never got off the ground, and enlisted in this guy's help. They were always at each other's throats, and after they were done doing business together, Joey put his soul in an amusement park ride resting in a storage room for all the other unused Bendyland equipment. You'll know it when you see it. Unfortunately, he always mistakes me for Joey Drew, and that makes him almost impossible to befriend: he thinks it's just Joey being a manipulative liar. You must debilitate him before even attempting to befriend him-there is one very specific way to do so. For how to kill him, see page 4. For how to debilitate and befriend, see page 49.
Times befriended: 69/584
Times killed: 415/584
Lacie Benton and Grant Cohen
By using the seeing tool, I have detected their names on coffins. These same coffins hold the corpses of the others that were killed. It doesn't take a genius to connect the dots. At least one of them is a Lost One, it would seem, as at least one Lost One can talk and remembers its name. Lacie worked for Bertrum. She was probably killed because she was suspicious of Bertrum's whereabouts, but that's speculation. Grant Cohen was likely killed so that Joey could keep the company's financial matters secret.
Alright, now onto the soulless creatures. You probably can't save these, but they can still seriously help or hinder your quest.
Butcher Gang Members
Kill on sight. They have no signs of sapience and are invariably malicious. There are many copies of them.
Boris (perfect)
Almost invariably benevolent. The time spent with him (generally in his safehouse on the second basement floor) is like time spent with family. Down here, that kind of moral support is scarce and invaluable. However, he can be a serious liability if you run into the scarred Alice Angel. If that happens, keep him away from her at all costs. If she does get him, well, try to remember that he doesn't really have a soul. Just an imprint, seemingly of Wally Franks (laid-back, goofy, friendly, weak-willed, etc.) Though, that doesn't seem to keep him from feeling a fondness for me, or from feeling pain. I'm sorry Henry, but you're often gonna have to kill your dog. Alice hulks him up and turns him against you. For how to kill, see page 4.
Times befriended: 437/584
Times killed: 239/584
Alice Angel (unscarred)
She lives on the second-to-lowest level of the studio with a Boris clone she calls "Tom." She's generally benevolent. I suggest you recruit her early, as her combat skills can really come in handy, and, as I've mentioned, good company is scarce. When you meet her, show her your seeing tool. She has a tendency of thinking of you as some sort of savior, but she sees the seeing tool as some kind of proof of that. Her imprint could honestly be of anyone, but she's calmer than I ever knew Susie to be and has a rather feminine personality, so I'm going to guess it's Allison Pendle, who was hired to replace Susie as Alice's voice actress. For how to kill her, go to page 63.
Times befriended: 289/584
Times killed: 38/584
"Tom" Boris
Tom is a very distrustful, hardened Boris clone. He is often the main obstacle to befriending Alice. Sometimes, he can even convince her to imprison you. He is very useful in combat and situations involving strength, however. Don't try to befriend him: befriend Alice, and she'll convince him. And whatever you do, don't harm her, or look like you might harm her, in front of him. By his personality, he seems to have the imprint of Thomas Connor.
Times befriended: 260/584
Times killed: 38/584
Lost Ones and Searchers
Can't lie, don't know what these are. Some are malicious, some aren't. At least one can speak, most can't. By the same token, only a couple seem to have their own personality. I don't know if they have souls or not. I just know that when I am engulfed in the ink, I can hear their thoughts. It's like they're simultaneously one voice, and many. Their methods of combat often make them seem like a hive mind.
Bendy
Almost everyone in the studio fears Bendy. He's very powerful: he can teleport using posters, can only be killed or hurt by seeing the end tape of his cartoon (you read that right. See page 3.), and can send any creature back into the inky abyss with a single touch.
Because almost every interaction I have with him includes running away, I have not been able to get a good sense of his personality. However, I've noticed a pattern: he ceases to attack anything after he has killed a creature with a soul. He doesn't go after others without a soul, though he doesn't mind coming close enough to them to melt them into the tendrils of ink that follow him everywhere. I think he wants a soul. Maybe that's why he's after me.
I have not yet made allies with the ink demon. He doesn't seem to take sacrifices of a souled creature- in fact, he reacts with disgust and outrage, injuring (often mortally injuring) the sacrificer before coming after the sacrifice. The only exception I've found is if the person was defending themselves.
This shows me that Bendy has standards for other people but not himself. He uses everyone he can use, and is willing to stomp on and destroy anyone he can't. There's no question in my mind who his imprint is: Joey Drew. Nonetheless, his demonic powers lead me to believe that he might know something about how to save these souls.
Henry stared at the page a long time after he'd finished reading, as though that would change its words. Deep down, though, he knew that three pages of his own handwriting hadn't spontaneously appeared, and he definitely didn't remember writing them. He flipped through it to find that there indeed were over seventy pages to it, all in his own writing. His stomach sank as he realized that this was entirely real. "Oh, Joey, what have you been doing?" he whispered to himself.

it wants to give us the exciting parts and the emotional pay off without actually doing any of the work, is the best way I can think to explain it Ria hateblogs Discovery: Episode 7 “[Poorly Written Time Travel] Magic to Make[s] the Sanest [Wo]Man Go Mad”
liveblogged to @kendradaynes
we had entirely 'last time on Discovery' before the intro credits, like not even a teaser ...
kendradaynes... That's an unusual choice
aceofwands I thought so too!
it was just Mudd being left behind on the Klingon ship. probs cause Mudd is gonna show up (we saw in the teaser last week). seems an odd choice too, like it was only a couple episodes ago, we haven't forgotten what they did???
close up of Michael's face, giving a personal log
oh lord
already paused it to write an awful line of dialogue down: "despite my fears, I seem to have found my place on this discovery"
discovery of WHAT
the dialogue is so bad Shin, so bad
kendradaynes..... What? That is...That makes angsty teenage fic seem well written
aceofwands: she's talking about the ship's settled into routine ... which ... what? aren't they in the middle of a war?!!!!!!!!
and about how she's made a friend in Tilly, and how she's taken comfort in her work
and how "this ship has become the most important weapon in the Federation's arsenal"
and I can't even
it doesn't even feel like they're at war! the way they go around on this shiny ship and talk about how it's settled into routine??????
kendradaynes... I want to send them all of DS9 s7 and Voyager's Year of Hell 2 parter and maybe Enterprise season 3 to show WHY THAT WOULDN'T WORK
aceofwands: Stamet's wacky drive piloting ability has "Given him access not just to unseen parts of space but his personality as well" and like ... that's a worry! WHY IS NO ONE WORRIED ABOUT THIS
kendradaynes THAT IS NOT A GOOD THING GET THAT MAN TO A PSYCHOLOGIST
aceofwands I keep pausing this ONE PERSONAL LOG
she confesses she finds some members of the crew more interesting than others (lol what others, they feel even more like background characters than any of the other shows somehow???) and it's her talking to Voq-Tyler
(people online have been debating how it's too obvious that he's Voq, but I don't have any faith in these writers not doing the really fucking obvious)
"Lt Tyler has suffered so much and still maintains such dignity and kindness" I really really hope he actually is Voq like wow I want them to be this bad at writing (and nothing I've seen so far makes me think they're any good at it)
“I fear my personal history interferes with my ability to forge relationships. I am among the others yet also apart." I can't get over this, it's like bad self-insert fan fic (I'm not even 5 mins in lol, I'd better let her finish her stupid log and stop pausing it lol)
oh lord, she's facing one of her greatest challenges so far ... they're having a party
they're ... playing ... beer ... pong ... on Star Trek
this is like a gross noisy college frat party ... on Star Trek ...
why is Michael not wearing casual clothes ...
kendradaynes... #weneedtheorville
aceofwands Orville's party in Pria had more dignity??? which y'know, the show is full of dick jokes
oh it's okay though, Tyler is giving a speech
wait did he just point to a guy who's "sacrificed for us" who had some sort of disability? I went back - there's a guy sitting on what I think is supposed to be a futuristic wheelchair I guess?
how did we get from It's Only a Paper Moon to this?
kendradaynes There are also... Very few disabling things that can't be at least partially cured by the 23rd century
aceofwands yeeeeah my thoughts exactly. but it was unclear and part of a dramatic speech so
Tilly left Michael and Tyler alone together at the party, but they were asked to report to the bridge
I still don’t know why everyone loves Tilly ... she doesn't seem like a cadet, unless you count the AOS crew as cadets ... again, everyone's too 2017
ummmmmmm. so Michael and Tyler were walking along the corridor. when she bumped into Stamets and knocked a container of whatsits over. and he hugged her and asked why she's apologising for a random moment that makes life so gloriously unpredictable and WHY IS NO ONE CONCERNED FOR HIM
kendradaynes... That makes sense. He sounds high
aceofwands ohthe Doctor has just shown up in this conversation out of nowhere. "I deeply apologise for my partner, lately he's been acting ... different"
WHY ARE YOU HERE IN THIS RANDOM CORRIDOR DOC! YOU WEREN'T WALKING BESIDES STAMETS??? WHY DID YOU TURN UP JUST TO BE PART OF THIS CONVERSATION
(I keep pausing it, I'm only 7 mins in, I might uh ... stop pausing it and try to keep up lol)
kendradaynes There are so many plot holes in this show
aceofwands they made a cybernetic augment for his arm??
then they asked what the deal between Michael and Tyler is ... and I just ... why is this show ... so ... clumsy? there is no nuance, no subtlety, it’s like they have to hit us over the head with everything like MICHAEL AND TYLER LIKE EACH OTHER OKAY AUDIENCE, DO YOU GET IT?
kendradaynes Honestly it feels like 18 year old self-insert fanfiction
aceofwands cut to the bridge. Saru and Lorca found an unidentified signal ... its some sort of biological space organism
which Michael knows a lot about
kendradaynes Of course. Because she knows everything
aceofwands protocol requires them to take care of it, because it's endangered, which is nice because actual Star Trek things
and um what
kendradaynes I hate her, jsyk
aceofwands they just beamed it into the cargo bay???????????????????
IT LIVES IN SPACE
IN VACUUM
HOW WOULD IT SURVIVE IN ATMOSPHERE AND GRAVITY???
kendradaynes welp that thing would be dead
aceofwands OMG IT HAS A DEMOGORGON FACE
some dude in a helmet hitched a ride inside its mouth and used it to get on board
its killed a bunch of people, but Michael escaped
oh its Mudd, to no one's surprise
kendradaynes Of course. Because self insert
aceofwands "did you really think you could leave me in a Klingon prison and suffer no repercussions?"
what have they done to his character
good fucking grief
kendradaynes*sigh*
aceofwands he's come here to find out why the Discovery is special, and is talking about how he's gonna sell it to the Klingons, but "not this time". so Mudd's causing a time travel loop. exploding their ship. the Discovery is blowing up. but now it's back to the party
this sucks
usually I LOVE time loop episodes
they're usually so fun! but this show is boring and dumb
oh man ... if you're gonna repeat scenes ... THIS IS THE BEST YOU'VE GOT???? them walking along a corridor talking
OH LOL it's Stamets. he's the only one who recognises the time loop. and everyone thinks he's crazy! "I need all of you blasted people to start listening"
why is this episode not about Stamets talking to someone?
why wouldn’t they listen to him???
Michael's all "oooooh how did Stamets know what it was going to be???"
.....had to pause it. Michael requested being in charge of the operation. Lorca: "I don't give a damn, I just want it done". then Tyler requested being in charge for security. and Lorca: "I still don't give a damn"
this. is. not. Star. Trek.
seriously
when there was a time loop on Next Gen and they started realising they HELD A FUCKING STAFF MEETING! and they realised through the poker game, which was clever! and everything about that was more fun and impressive than this shit has been in the first 15 mins!
the spore drive just activated, and they're all like 'why is this happening?". but obvs Mudd's in engineering
Tyler and Michael are threatening him with phasers, but haven't shot him on sight. oh they finally did. but there was a forcefield. Mudd's trying to figure out how the drive works.
Michael: "You are mad."
Mudd: "No, I'm Mudd."
WHY
I wish the idiots who wrote this garbage would get stuck in a time loop and forced to watch this awful episode over and over until they figured out how to stop it from being so bad
then he yelled at them to tell him how to work it AND STAMETS WAS BEHIND HIM AND SHOT HIM IN THE BACK. and said: "As days go, this was a weird one" which is hilarious
except that I'm not even 20 mins in and somehow bored?
how can they make time loops boring?
they keep saying different things???? in the scenes????
is it a time loop or isn't it?
do they know or don't they?
this doesn't make sense!
kendradaynes That's... not how a timeloop works. It only changes when they realise it
aceofwands yeah it's clearly trying to jump to the parts later on, cause Stamets implies that they've looped many times already. but instead - as usual - it just comes across as .. confused? muddled? like it's not really a time loop because they clearly know it's a loop enough to change what they say, but not enough to realise they're looping???
kendradaynes Yeah that's not how time loops are meant to work and I'm mildly vexed
aceofwands Mudd has got Lorca to come down with him "I really can't take it from the top again Lorca"
ummmm Mudd's talking about how he's explained this to Lorca before, but needs his help to access part of the ship ... if he's aware they're looping then ... why is he so bad at ... I don't even know .... [I stopped being able to explain everything wrong with this episode’s plot around this point]
this episode is a primer in How Not To Write Time Travel
Stamets is explaining how he thinks he's outside of the loop: "it's getting really hard to keep it straight" lol
he needs Michael to talk to Tyler but they're about to loop, and Stamets wants her to tell him something so she'll trust him straight away next loop. and she did??? and he made a sad face and said he was sorry
don't make me have feelings with your decent acting Anthony Rapp
but also do they not have protocols for time travel or like anything else to share???
"now is usually around the time he kills the Captain" - can we stay in that when we fix the loop lol
"you kill a Starfleet captain they lock you up for ever" ummm do they really
LOL WE'RE GETTING ALL THE LOOPS WHERE MUDD KILLS LORCA AND IT'S ACTUALLY REALLY SATISFYING WATCHING HIM DIE
HE'S EATING A SANDWICH AND HAD LORCA BEAMED TO SPACE
53 TIMES LOL
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
OKAY
ACTUALLY HILARIOUS PART
loop back to the party: Michael and Tilly talking. Stamets appears, taps Tilly, "I just spotted the hottest guy over there and apparently, he's in a band! Have fun!" (she was explaining earlier how she used to be into soldiers but is lately into musicians, cause that's what passes for character development on this awful show)
genuinely made me laugh
Michael's secret is that she's never been in love ... which we knew from the way she acted earlier in the episode??? not even a secret
HIS DIALOGUE IS DIFFERENT
THIS ISN'T HOW TIME LOOPS WORK
oh that was enough for Stamets to prove he was telling the truth ... and she now has to talk to Tyler about mudd?? idk it's super unclear why this is happening or what they're hoping to achieve ?????
honestly this episode is a terrible muddled mess
...................had to pause it again
to explain this scene
I'm leaving out so much and you're probably confused (I'm watching it and I'm confused)
she blew her chance to talk to Tyler because she likes him, which Stamets points out, and she says she's out of her element, so he says 'dance with me, for science, so I can see what I'm working with ... 'and like .... helping Michael talk to the guy she likes .... .... so they can save the ship from a time loop ... is the worst idea for a Star Trek episode I've ever heard. and I've watched Threshold
stupid space lizards make more sense than this plot
she's wondering how people make connections
and Stamets is explaining how Dr Culber and he got together
because the Doc was humming terrible opera
I ... I ... this
I can't Shin
you'll have to watch this dumb show with me if you want to make sense of it
I have to go back and attempt
no I'll just type out this conversation
see if it makes any sense to you
kendradaynes This sounds like it's impossible to make sense of even while watching
aceofwands
"Hugh and I fell in love after I told him to get lost."
"That doesn't make any sense."
"Love isn't logical." (they're slow dancing while this happens)
"I was in a wonderful cafe on Alpha Centauri when three seats down comes this hideous humming. Have you ever heard someone try to hum Casselian opera?"
"I can't say that I have."
"Well I told him to stifle it or sit somewhere else. Instead, he sat right next to me. And he's been there ever since." [Michael looks as confused as I am]
"After such a rude exchange. Why would he do that?"
"I told him how I really felt. And he did the same. And we liked that about each other."
"I'm good at honesty."
"Never hide who you really are. That's the way relationships work."
... ............... I have no words for how little this scene makes sense. that is not how relationships work???? that is a terrible way for them to get together???? and most importantly WHY ARE THEY SLOW DANCING (hint because they realised having them stand around the corridors was fucking boring probably)
kendradaynes THAT IS NOT HOW RELATIONSHIPS WORK
aceofwands I KNOW RIGHT
THEY'RE OUT OF TIME ALREADY? NO WAY IT HAS BEEN HALF AN HOUR
lol Michael is pulling Tyler away to dance in this time loop, the lighting is very purple with lots of close ups of their hands on each other
had to pause it again I am dying of bad laughter at the nonsense
they're dancing and it's kinda sweet and they've got an almost hint at a sexy vibe .... and then Burnham goes "So I hear you were locked up in a Klingon prison cell with Harry Mudd"
whyyyy are they not having a staff meeting about this?
I mean I know Lorca is a jerk and all. but this approach makes ZERO SENSE! she's telling him the whole truth, while they dance ... Stamets is watching and looking bemused ....
Tyler is like "why would he think I'd trust you?"
"Because I like you. And he thinks you like me too."
and he's like 'oh ... tonight's gotten weird but also very interesting'
WHY DO NONE OF THEM ACT LIKE REAL PEOPLE?
like ... how is it that Shakespearean, larger than life characters in previous series somehow feel more real and genuine????? these people just SOUND LIKE THEY'RE IN A TV SHOW????? like it sounds like TV dialogue!
I can't explain it
"if time really is repeating, this won't matter" and he kisses her. of course.
maybe less dancing more saving the ship?
they're talking while dancing "he used to brag about robbing a Betazoid bank"
!"a non equilibrial matter state" - a time crystal, which she learned about at the Vulcan science academy. which they haven't been able to perfect, but a 4 dimensional being must have perfected it, according to Burnham
good thing she knew all of this ??????????
IT'S SO BADLY WRITTEN SHIN
WHAT THE FUCK
there's no figuring anything out!
they just already know!!!!!!
cut back to the bridge, wondering where Michael and Tyler are. Mudd appears, playing music
hahahahaha the computer addressed him as Captain Mudd: "I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually tired of gloating"
he's found a weaponised dark matter ball in Lorca's stash of dangerous shit. and he's blabbing on about it "and if any of you were planning on being heroes - including you, random communications officer man" LOL (the guy just ran up to try to stop him) "you'll find there's very little I don't know."
Tyler and Michael burst out onto the bridge for some reason ????
tried to shoot Mudd, the forcefield is still there ... he chucked the dark matter at Tyler .... who dissolved ....
Mudd: "well that was new"
why would they listen to him? Michael you KNOW IT'S A TIME LOOP
STAMETS WHAT ARE YOU DOING
WHAT
THE
FUCK
he told him to stop, because he can't watch Mudd kill any more people
I PAUSED IT UNTIL I STOPPED FEELING CONFUSED BUT I DON'T THINK I WILL EVER STOP BEING CONFUSED
why
would
he
tell
Mudd
what kind of plan ....
why did ....
why
why
why
kendradaynes Is your brain broken?
aceofwands yes
Stamets gave himself to Mudd????? even though he knew it was a time loop?why would he do that?
Michael has figured out the space whale has a ship in its belly .... with Mudd's crystal energy source in it .....
how .... does Michael know about Stella ???? I can't explain this episode to you any more Shin ... you'd have to watch this nonsense for yourself
she has come to sacrifice herself .... because the Klingons want her more than the ship
"you'll get a lot for this ship, but what would I be worth to them?"
"what's in it for you?" "Lt Tyler" "Lt Tyler is dead" "Not for long" ... and then she ATE A DARK MATTER BALL .... to force him to reset the timeline ....
NO
NO NO NO NO
HOW DOES STAMETS KNOW
WE DIDN'T SEE HIM AGAIN AFTER HE WENT OFF WITH MUDD
SO HOW DID HE KNOW TO TELL MICHAEL HER OWN PLAN
or are we supposed to believe she remembers?
this episode MAKES NO SENSE
has Stamets finally told the Captain? why is he on the bridge
yes ... she did tell them .... everyone there knows and Mudd's confused
Lorca greeted him "Captain Mudd, your chair" - offers his chair
he realised Stamets was "passing on notes"
"don't try to con a con man" "I'm not, I'm negotiating with a business man"
"why would a Federation Captain do that?" "I will not have a repeat of the Boran [sp?] [his past ship]"
this episode is complete rubbish
he's leading Michael and Stamets off to the transporter room to meet the Klingons
lol Stamets has found out about his wife Stella. they found out he's been running from Stella, not to her lol
this episode would have been clever if the time loop wasn't so poorly done!
they rewired the captain's chair to send the message to Stella and her father .... who's come to get him lol
why ... why are they even doing this? they're so obsessed with making a new Star Trek series, why keep bringing in old characters for no reason?
Michael and Tyler waiting for a turbolift, Stamets told them both that in a previous timeline they danced .... they're super awkward
OH LORD
"What I'm feeling is complicated, and strange" "It's okay, I'm not going anywhere”
STOP TELLING US YOUR FEELINGS MICHAEL
I actually think they're really cute? I would usually like so many of these characters! but wow the plots are so. bad.
and it's so clumsy!
holy crap that was bad
oh lord, Saru in the next ep, they're on a planet, there are Klingons and the Admrial being tortured
wow. that's over. and took me ages to watch because I had to stop it so often lol
I have watched a lot of time travel episodes in my decades as a Trekkie (and on other sci fi shows) and that has got to be worst I’ve ever seen! It was SO confusingly done!
they just have no internal consistency!
you have Mudd getting revenge and Stamets working against him ... really really poorly ...
and all of their solutions to the problems just made no sense???
Stamets giving himself up to Mudd???
and then the final solution of them all working together ... it wasn't like in the Next Gen episode I keep thinking of, where they eventually realise they're looping and find the message in Data and it feels like they worked together to solve it
it feels like this show ... cuts corners
it wants to give us the exciting parts and the emotional pay off without actually doing any of the work, is the best way I can think to explain it
it was ... choppy and confused
that sums the show up to be honest.
they went on and on about how they’re telling a big serialised story, but it isn’t even? we’ve had these weird interlude episodes with Sarek and now Mudd where stuff just happens just because? and they keep TELLING us they’re fighting a war but it doesn’t feel like they’re in one!
if they’re going to do serialised season long arcs then they need to do way way better, like I just binge watched 9 episodes of Stranger Things yesterday! I know what a good serial narrative looks like and this is not it!
and if they’re going to do episodic then they need to do way way better
the plot of this was just confused nonsense that was weirdly focused around Michael and Tyler’s relationship more than anything else ... it just feels like they’re mashing a bunch of random rubbish together and hoping it works, rather than like a carefully crafted story on either an episodic OR a serial level!
and now I’m just thinking about how much I want to go watch some fun time loop episodes - like man, give me SG1 stuck in a time loop doing stupid shit any day, at least that was fun AND made sense

Doctor Who AU: Part 27
prelude/one/two/three/four/five/six/seven/eight/nine/ten/eleven/twelve/thirteen/fourteen/fifteen/sixteen/seventeen/eighteen/nineteen/twenty/twenty-one/twenty-two/twenty-three/24/25/26/ao3
A firm push swung the art gallery door inward, but it stopped short of opening far enough to allow easy entry, catching on the uneven floor. The view of the gallery's interior, now visible through the partially open door, was of a space made up of varying levels of shadows. The shaft of light that had been permitted to enter only served to deepen the shadows on either side of it, illuminating only a sliver of bumpy floor and ripped up plants. Of Bog there was no visible sign, only the soft sound of tired sobbing.
This was not an encouraging sign.
The Doctor hesitated outside the door, considering the option of just pulling the door shut again. However, the door had opened when she pushed it, which meant Bog had allowed her in willingly. She had half-hoped he wouldn't. If he had kept shoving her away she would have had an excuse to leave. Drop off the apology and fly on to the next thing.
“Fix this,” Dawn had said.
“I literally can't,” the Doctor had told her.
Yet the Doctor was still there, squeezing her way through the jammed door and stepping carefully into the dark. She shuffled over the rolling hills and jagged cliffs of the floor, one arm stretched out to feel her way through the darkness as the door closed behind her. She could only spare the one hand to scrabble at the dark, her other arm occupied with carrying a prop meant to accompany her apology.
Apology sort of thing, anyway.
“What do you want now?” Bog asked from behind his fortress of the up-swept floor and the dark, his voice hoarse, “Need another idiot to sacrifice himself?”
“If I needed an idiot,” the Doctor's hand found the console and she trailed her hand along it for balance until her path took it out of reach, “I'd look in the mirror. I need to return something that you lost.”
“Like my life?”
The words were said in sarcasm but they still made Bog's dry throat close up and fresh tears well up in his tired eyes. He was worn out with crying, but the tears kept coming because he was trapped in this room, probably alone, forever. There was no future to look forward to, no dreams to soothe the pain of the present.
It was funny. Bog hated being around people, he made every effort to be left alone. Now he was faced with a future of nothing but solitude and the thought was horrifying. Maybe that was why he had let the Doctor in.
Something bumped against his back while he was laying there on his side. Bog grunted, thinking the Doctor had walked into him in the dark. Something batted at the cables in his back.
“Watch where you're stepping,” Bog growled, turning up the lights so the Doctor would stop tripping over him. A yellow glow was cast over the room, just enough for Bog to see the Doctor's boots were in front of him, yet something was still moving behind him. He twisted around awkwardly to see what was going on.
“Crackers?” He blinked, meeting the yellow eyes of a brown tabby cat.
The cat gave a chirp of recognition, it's mouth lopsided from the number of teeth it was missing. It was apparently delighted just to be looked at and squinted its eyes lovingly at Bog. Bog turned over and carefully scratched the cat behind the ears. Its fur was greasy.
“Why is my cat here?” Bog asked, watching Crackers rub his chin against Bog's fingers, “My cat who died when I was fifteen?”
“Technically, he just disappeared.”
“You—did you go back in time and steal my cat?”
“I saw him when I got a look at your memories earlier. I knew he had disappeared and you never found him so I went back to that day and got a sample of his fur from your house. I used it to trace him to a town twenty miles from your house. He had climbed in the back of somebody's truck and taken a ride. Side note, cats don't like time travel and he scratched me five separate times before I got him here.”
“You timelooped my cat.”
“Yes.”
“My childhood cat who never learned how to bathe himself and was more grease and matted hair than actual cat.”
“Yup.”
“What, didn't they have a 'sorry I got you turned into a tree a merged with an alien supercomputer' card at the drugstore?”
“No. I checked.”
Crackers settled down against Bog's chest, tucking his paws underneath himself and starting up a purr. He had always had a weird purr, like the rattling engine of a car on its last legs. Seeing as Crackers had been eighteen years old when he vanished he had been on what should have been his last legs for years. He didn't seem to mind. He loved everything and everybody. If you looked at him he got excited that you had graced him with your attention.
“He still stinks,” Bog remarked.
“I know. I'm going to have to burn this jacket,” the Doctor said from up above.
Crackers rumbled happily, a warm little bundle of greasy fur and contentment. Bog stroked Crackers, the repetitive motion grounding Bog enough that his breathing evened out and some of the tension left him. His head cleared enough that he couldn't ignore how dry his mouth was.
When the Doctor crouched down and offered him a bottle of water Bog accepted it, even though he wanted to throw it back in her face.
“I suppose you want me to thank you,” He said after draining the bottle.
“No, but you owe me two bucks for the vending machine.”
“Take if off whatever you owe me for turning me into a tree and gluing me into an alien computer.”
“Yeah, okay, I guess you get this second bottle for free.”
“Hey,” Bog crinkled the bottle in his hand, digging the edge of his thumb under the label, “Am I really stuck here? Forever?”
He already knew the answer. He knew enough about the Doctor to understand that while she would trick him into thinking things would work out, she would not lie about the bad things. But she was still changeable, her answers changed so much, why not this one?
“Yes,” the Doctor said, the single word stabbing like a dagger into Bog's chest, letting the stewing mess of anger, fear, and sadness start to leak out again. Crackers wiggled closer to Bog's face and started nosing at the dampness left by tears.
“I can't fix this, Bog. I'm sorry.”
“I can't even die, can I? I mean, obviously I could, but, what would happen to the primrose if I did?”
“You're part of it now, without you it would die.”
“And all the history lost and Aunt Aura wouldn't be able to keep an eye on the Cheem here on Earth. I figured.”
Unless he decided to die as he lived—worthless and destructive to everyone around him—he was completely trapped.
“You know,” Bog said, his throat so tight that it was hard to speak, “It didn't really bother me that much to think I would die stopping the plant army.”
The Doctor said nothing.
“I'd have been finally doing something with my life. Making a meaningful sacrifice. I mean, I haven't had a future in a long time anyway. Finally get to be the hero I wanted to be.”
The dark had settled across the room again and Bog could only just make out the Doctor's outline sitting on the floor, absolutely still. He waited for her to say something, offer another apology so he could spurn it. She said nothing.
“Then,” Bog closed his eyes and took a shaky breath, Then, for one impossible moment I saw . . . I saw a future. A life worth living. I can't even remember the last time I wanted to live, and then you made me want to. I was excited to live, to see what happened next. The crazy, impossible woman did an impossible thing and gave me hope. It was a win either way. Die saving the world, or save the world and live. Really live again.”
Bog would have followed the Doctor anywhere. Into the sky, across the stars, far away from the drudgery of the mundane world and his empty life. He would have followed those golden eyes, those golden eyes that held galaxies. But those galaxies, that universe inside of her, was only beautiful at a distance. The closer Bog got to the Doctor the more he saw the great chasms that had been ripped between the constellations, filled with the suffering of centuries, the pain that fired her to save people, the ruthlessness that overtook any kindness she had to offer.
“But it was all a lie,” Bog said, “There was never anything there. I was never worth anything. Just a means to the end of cleaning up pretty boy's messes. Everything else was just a lie. A trick.”
“It's worse than that,” the Doctor said, her voice crackling a little after her long silence, “I lied, I deceived, I tricked you . . . but I also used the truth to trick you.”
Crackers stretched and flopped on his side, legs out, back feet braced on a cable. Bog rubbed the cat's stomach, glad of the excuse to fidget.
“I tried not to like you, Bog. I try not to like anyone. It's terrible, to like people, know their faces, then watch them burn because of what you did or failed to do. But I liked you and then . . . you kissed me.”
“And you saw an opportunity?” Bog asked sarcastically.
“I saw stars, actually. I realized all in a rush how much I liked you, it made me dizzy. I also realized bad it was going to be when you found out what I really was. But I tricked myself, too. I imagined for one crazy, impossible moment that I had found . . . I don't know. Someone who didn't know what I used to be, just me as I am, and somehow still wanted to stay.”
“Has Dawn left, then?”
“Not yet. But she'll leave in the end. I want her to stay. I should make her go. Monsters don't get happy endings. Now, later, it doesn't matter when. Dawn will leave and it will be with a broken heart. That's how everyone leaves.”
“It's your own fault,” Bog said, refusing to feel sympathy.
“I know.”
“All this is your fault. You and your crazy ex.”
“Roland is a monster of my own making,” the Doctor sighed, “I'm sorry I led you right into his trap. I'm sorry I kissed you. I'm sorry I liked you.”
“Are you going to leave, now that you apologized?” Bog asked roughly. He hated her, he hated her so much and he didn’t care that she sounded tired and sad. He didn’t care that he knew something of the painful journey that had brought her to this place in life. It didn’t matter, she had still used him.
“I assumed you would want me to,” the Doctor replied, voice neutral.
“Yeah, of course.”
“Oh,” she paused, “Oh, now? Yes?”
The Doctor unfolded her legs and braced a hand on the floor to push herself up.
Bog's hand darted out, dragging cables and making Crackers chirp in surprise, and he grabbed the cuff of the Doctor's jacket, “No!”
“No?”
“I mean--”
When she left Bog would be alone. The pitiful scraps of his dream of a life worth living would be be scattered in the wake of her departure.
The Doctor sat back, and remarked, apropos of nothing, “Your night sky needs some stars.”
The sonic screwdriver whistled and Bog could feel it tweaking and pulling at things in the primrose and the computer. The black void of the room was sprinkled with stars, glittering swirls of galaxies trailing from the ceiling to the walls and floor so that they were not just sitting under a night sky, but right in the middle of it.
She touched the back of his hand, “I won't go until you ask.”
They sat in silence, watching the stars.
