🔥 - Are there any popular/widely accepted headcanons you don't like?

Where do I begin?

I don't remember which ones of these are canon and which ones are headcanons, but I certainly don't like them.

Denmark behaves like or is constantly compared to a child or an animal: In this house, we respect Mathias.

All of the Nordics live under the same roof (even if they don't enjoy this living arrangement in the headcanon): They're immortals who can acquire property in their own countries. Never liked these kinds of forced sitcom situations.

Sweden's children are random micronations: A two in one! I don't like the idea that Sweden's children aren't at least partially Swedish and that he doesn't speak Swedish in his own household. I'll always choose regions with a historical connection to Sweden to be his children. I don't like micronations from a worldbuilding standpoint either. It cheapens nations who were formed by generations of humans who shared a common land, language, values and traditions if I can declare my house to be "The Autocratic Micronation of Jämtlantica" and an immortal personification would be born.

Nation ages scale linearly with the age of their culture: Biologically, aging means that the body is decaying and the person is getting closer to death. Why would a thriving culture like China have a personification that is physically frail and close to death just because Chinese culture has existed for a long time? I don't like the randomly chosen ages in the canon either. Their ages should be tied to their population's health.

Nations interact only with each other and with political leaders: Yuck. Politicians living a parallel existence from the people they're supposed to represent. No, go live with your people. Make friends with them and go to work with them and avoid eye contact with them on public transport.

"Ancient" personifications for large regions that are a single person: There was far more diversity in languages and cultures of pre-recorded history because long-distance cultural exchange is impossible without modern technology. Why would all of these different cultures be represented by just one person?! I believe that there would have been many Ancients who passed on before recorded history and were forgotten, but a few live on in the memories of the personifications they raised.

Forced family relationships between nations: The idea that there is a supernatural bond between some nations that they don't know the origins of and can't oppose. I also whined about how it suggests that there is an objectively "correct" way to interpret historical relationships.

Nations' lives have to literally re-enact history: See the above point about objective historical correctness. Also, isn't this boring? There is no room for personal characterization and you're effectively writing a history textbook, not a character.

The Birth of Nations(or at least my headcanons about it)

So, for some time I've been thinking about how nations come into being. So I decided to write down the way it works in my hetalia verse (no promises on not changing my mind one day tho)

Nations can come into being in multiple ways, some being more common than others. The known ways in which a nation can be born is:

Sometimes, randomly, they can "spring from the earth", at least that's what they call it. Nations sometimes just randomly appear, typically as infants or babies, or toddlers(very rarely do they spring from the earth in any other stages of life, though it can happen) . There isn't one specific location they appear in, although where they appear might tell something about them. Some nations who don't remember their parents (if they had any) and origins might claim to have been born this way. It's a pretty common way that nations are born, and those born this way are called "autochthon(plural: autochthones)" like the men that would spring from the earth/soil, the rocks & trees in greek mythology. Sometimes these nations might have features from other personifications, and might be in some strange way the "children" of other nations(or sinply just ambigously related), so they are also a way for nation to reproduce I guess, if they can't in the usual way. Nobody has a solid idea on how it works(but people try to figure it out, to prevent it or to make it happen), but there are many superstitions, myths & beliefs about it among nationkind(that some consider to be nothing more than old wives' tales in modern times, especially younger nations).

They can be born from 2 nation parents, and in that way they essentially have all the attributes of a nation (immortality, a little screwed up perception of how time passes etc.) but do not have to necessarily personify something. They can simply exist(although later in life, sometimes accidentally or not, they may start to personify something). Some consider that these beings that are the children of nations but do not personify anything should be called something else, but no one has come up with a name for them yet. (And really, nation is not exactly a great term since, at least in my hetalia verse, personifications of many things besides countries exist, such as some regions, cities, states etc)

A nation parent and a human. This is a pretty unstable way of a nation being born, because there's no knowing how children born out of this union might be like. They might be born a nation, they might be a seemingly normal human, or they might be in a...strange "compromise of sorts" between the two. These "crosses" can have attributes of humans and nations mixed together. If they are immortal, they are only functionally immortal, and when they die once, usually, that's it(well..it's more complicated actually). And the immortal ones either age normally like a human(until they stop at maturity or at random), or slowly like a nation. Also, these beings do have a kinda high chance of turning into nations.

From two human parents! Sometimes, at random, two humans might be "blessed" with a nation! It might be more common with humans that have a nation as one of their forebears(or more if a family has somehow managed to mingle multiple times with nations lol). Usually, as soon as the fact that they aren't human is noticed, a nation will come to take the child away, to raise them.

Sometimes a human just becomes a nation, for no apparent reason, usually through death. Although humans with nation forebears have a highed chance of becoming one. It's pretty rare.

The way that nation genealogy works...they aren't truly related. I mean they have all that shit that humans have in their body (and perhaps, more) but they're not like. Related the way two humans apart of the same family would be, at least not biologically. They do use kinship terms to refer to those they consider family, thought.

EARLY LIFE: Emily was born in late April 1980, exactly 3 years and 1 week after Dale, and exactly one month after Jay, on the same day. So, when he was born and his mother, Sharon’s sister and Emily’s aunt died, and Sharon adopted him, she passed him as her daughter’s fraternal twin and raised her two oldest to consider him their sibling. While Dale and Tyler, their older brothers, grew up treating him as such, they both knew the truth, though Tyler, being older, was more aware of it. Emily was kept in the dark by her mother and learned about it way later.

Their brothers, Tyler and Dale, were respectively 7 and 3 years older than the “twins”. Both helped raising and caring for them, but essentially Tyler as most of the responsibility to care and protect his siblings fell on him as he was the eldest. Dale was very playful, and much more careless and tempestuous so Tyler also had to deal with him, on top of everything else, and was somewhat of a bully towards Jay, at some point using a BB gun on him. He teased him way more than he did Emily because when he did, Tyler would kick his ass (metaphorically speaking, or not), so he contented himself with making jokes. Sometime after Emily was born, Sharon let an almost 8-year-old Tyler hold his baby sister and it seemed to form some kind of bond already as he never forgot how she looked at him with her big eyes and smiled. He grew up to be very protective of his family but even more so of his sister, being on the contrary, quite distant and unaffectionate towards Jay, though he did care for him as well. But throughout their lives, he seemed to subtly, or not, make Jay understand that he cared more about Emily, as if he wasn't as much family.

Until she entered high school, Emily’s favourite brother was beyond the shadow of doubt, Tyler. He raised her and Jay since they were babies and kept Dale from teasing her, teaching her valuable skills, making her grow up to be someone very handy and skilful. She never realized that he felt some resentment and jealousy towards them still, but mostly towards Jay as he knew he wasn’t his biological brother and more or less subconsciously held it against him. He knew everything about his younger siblings, how they kept a squirrel as a pet when they were young, and he knew before she told anyone that she started liking grunge music when she was 11 or 12. For her 12th birthday, he got her the Nevermind album from Nirvana and a CD player, which she ended up sharing with Jay. He didn’t get such gifts for either of his brothers. She already idolized Tyler since she was a child, but he had officially become her favourite brother. At the time, and because she was too young to work, and they weren’t exactly rich, she wanted to find a way to get some money to get herself a pair of Converse, to do like Kurt Cobain so Tyler got her to help him fix things around the house and do chores and a month later, he came home with a box and gave her a pair of black converse, which she started wearing 24/7 at school.

She had a rocky relationship with her father and was quite scared of him for a while, mainly because he could get violent when drunk and hit their mother sometimes and would hit Tyler and Dale too when they got in the middle. But when she was younger, maybe 8 or so, he one day brought home some rabbit he had caught and she wouldn’t listen to him and sit down because she wanted to go play outside with Jay but also because she didn’t want to skin the animal, so he smacked her across the face, bringing her to tears and she ran off. She hid in the barn, in a corner, curled up and quietly crying, until Tyler, then 15-year-old, found her. He had a bruise on his cheek, and she cried even more and asked if he got hit because of her. He dismissed her worries and got her to come out and help him somewhere else on the property. At dinner, her father awkwardly apologised, coming up with excuses and empty words, talking a lot but basically saying nothing, and she just nodded, not really saying anything. She already didn’t trust her father, or feel safe around him, but she certainly wouldn’t after that. After that event, Dale would always crack jokes and used the fact that he was always teasing Jay to make her laugh. He very lightly teased her too but with Tyler watching her, he never went as far as he did with Jay. She was definitely Tyler’s favourite too. The first memory he had with her was her smiling at him as a baby, so he hated seeing her cry. He was as protective of his mother as he was of his sister. 

When she and Jay entered High school, they quickly found out how well-known their family actually was in that school, because all four Holt kids went there and the parents too back in the day. During their first year, Tyler was already 21 and very much working and Dale was already out of school, having dropped out about a year prior, and he would come pick them up everyday when Tyler couldn’t. Jay and Emily were in the same classes, so they were always together but as the freshman year went on, she made friends with other people in some of the classes they didn’t share, though always trying to include Jay in the group, but he went back to staying alone. By the end of the first semester, she had ditched her new friends and preferred to hang out with her brother, though she had kept one good friend, another girl from the group she hung out with and one boy that she liked. The two siblings began being isolated by their classmates. They would often call Jay a “weirdo” or “loser” and she would defend him. She acted exactly like Tyler did with their mom. She almost got into a fight with a couple of other kids at the school and after telling Tyler, he basically scolded her - more out of worry for her than actual anger - and told her not to get into any fights and not act like Dale, which for some reason made her want not to listen to him.

She began to act as Jay’s protector at school and it emboldened her, she was more rebellious, and it reflected in her relationship with her dad. She started to test his limits, which was probably not the best idea as he would get mad and try to hit her, but she often managed to dodge and run away, Tyler and Dale getting hit in her place, which she felt bad for. She began to think Tyler hated her because she realized he was more distant. In the beginning of the second half og her freshman year of high school, she met again a boy who was in the friend group she had temporarily joined in her first year, but he had developed a crush for her. She reciprocated his feelings and they shared a kiss. He asked her out and one week-end, Emily lied, saying she was going for a girl's pajama party as her best friend's house when really, she was going to the arcade with her boyfriend. The next morning, Sharon told Tyler to go get his sister and when he got to Emily's friend house and she wasn't there, he asked to use the landline to call his mom and told him. Sharon told him to drive around town and come home. He came home half an hour later and she was already there, getting scolded in the kitchen because she didn't want to tell them where she was the night before. At some point, she stood up because she wanted to leave, and accidentally yelled back at her mom and her dad got angrier. He swung his arm in her direction and upon dodging him, she fell against the fridge, curled up, her arms up in front of her face, eyes widened and her whole body shaking like a leaf.

Tyler and Dale got inbetween her and their dad and got hit in her place. Later, she told Tyler where and who she was with the night prior and told him she was with a guy from school. He told her not to lie and she admitted that he was her boyfriend. Dale heard and got worked up knowing a boy "touched her" and she yelled that nobody touched her and it took Tyler shoving him to make him shut up. One day at school, Dale came to pick up his siblings and he saw Emily come out of school with a boy. When she crossed his gaze and saw him, she put a distance between her and the boy but he now knew who her boyfriend was. He walked up to them and beat him up bloody. He was arrested and because he wasn't yet 18, he was sent to juvenile detention. She wouldn't talk to Dale for months after that, and didn't speak to him during the three months he spent in juvie. The boy was transferred to another school and wouldn't talk to her anymore, telling her her brother was a "fucking psycho". By the end of their second year of high school, as they turned 16, Jay dropped out and she really was alone now. She had her best friend left and that was about it for the next two years of high school.

Then, in May 1998, the events of the game happened. She wasn’t supposed to be involved in their plans, but she refused to stay behind, and Tyler agreed to let her come along, on the condition she did exactly as he said.

once valentina started getting more uppity and well known in night city ($$$$$), she was able to help joss pay off randy’s medical bills and also helped joss re-enroll randy into school so he could graduate (also because she’s extra, she has delamain pick up and drop off all the kutcher kids at their respective schools so joss can go to work without worrying about getting them to and from school!) :’) valentina loves river’s family so much and she wants to let them live normal lives again after what happened with randy because she still has nightmares (as does river) about what she saw on that farm, so she can only imagine how bad it must be for randy ❤️‍🩹

it takes a lot to make venus cry tbh but the one thing that does make her cry is a cat, she loves cats SO much… she gets so emotional seeing cats on the street and likes to think in another life, she ran a rescue for kitties ☹️ so instead, while she was employed by arasaka, she would make a monthly donation to animal shelters around night city to help them with any surgeries or care they might need!!

she had a plushie her parents got for her before she was even born that she kept for most of her life and she took it with her EVERYWHEREEE truly one of her best friends... but when she moved out, she gave it to her grandmother for save keeping. but after her removal by arasaka, her whole family basically shunned her no matter how hard she tried to tell them otherwise, so even thinking about the small little pearlescent dragon brings back painful memories for her :(

vernon has a very mild temper, it takes a LOTTTTT to get him mad omg so definitely a slow boil!!

vernon is a nomad because he has basically lost every family he has known (his biological one, his adoptive one, etc.). vernon was given up for adoption as a baby by a couple who were unable to give him the life he deserved, so a close friend of his mother promised to raise him as their own. his nomad family was part of a small clan, removed from the seven nations that inhabit the NUSA and were located north were modern day vegas is. he grew up happy until he was about 18 when he was off working a seasonal job at some biotechnica plant, after the season was over, he returned to find his whole clan had basically been slaughtered, only a few members remained who were also returning from their seasonal jobs. so vernon and the remaining nomads gathered what they could of their family to honor them and eventually joined the bakkers which is where his story starts at the beginning of cyberpunk!!! (damn sorry for that long ass dissertation 💀)

4. What's a headcanon you need to work out?

There are actually a lot of headcanons where I feel I need to figure things out! One of the biggest ones that I have trouble with is figuring out where countries come from and how. I previously liked to imagine that they had parents or ancestors for the stories and narratives that you can tell with that, but then you have to think about family lines and lineages and ~all of these things~ and it just ends up taking up so much headspace that it makes worldbuilding unnecessarily complicated.

Figuring out hws Finland's origins is especially difficult since prehistoric Finnish history is relatively unknown and vague: there were little to no written records of Finland before Christianization, populations were scarce and divided into diverse Tribes, and Finnish soil is very acidic which means that artifacts and fossils dissolve uber fast and it doesn't leave much for the archaeological record womp womp 😔

In the end I just decide to opt for "they popped out and grew very slowly and people took notice that they're special", but I won't lie, I still like the idea of nations having parents or biological families because I feel it would make things more interesting and dynamic. But on the other hand, I feel like it would make things more constrained and strict, y'know? Like you can't just act any way towards family and putting characters into a familiar dynamic just sort of sets it into one specific relationship for the rest of their lives. Also I feel having bio families makes all of the inter-nation relationships much more complicated; I can imagine that after a while all the nations would be related to one another lol.

Honestly, I would in the end much prefer a more mentorship or found family dynamics style for nations as opposed to strict families, since then relationships can be flexible and change over the years, but are still in the end rooted in those foundational moments.

Alternatively, I like to think that they were born from regular people, and that their parents and the village/community realized that they're special, either through their slow growth, or maybe a shamanic prophecy or local legends or something, I think that'd be really cool!!

13. What song gets you daydreaming about Hetalia?

That's a good question!! Honestly don't know what to really say here bc our most holy Finland takes up 95% of my headspace so if there's a song that I like, I can absolutely make it about him. I often listen to movie, show, and video game soundtracks, pop and rock, and have recently had a lot of Antti Tuisku, Erika Vikman, and Bess stuck in my head and Spotify sooooo... Finnish pop anyone? 👀👀

42. Any Hetalia merch (og or fan-made) rave-worthy?

I'm sorry anon but I don't have any Hetalia merch or have anything that is "rave-worthy" 🙈 In general I don't really buy fandom merch unless I absolutely love it. Most Hetalia merch feels too "plasticy" to me and most of what I have from Hetalia is from my friends and fanart <3333 The closest thing to actual merch that I have is a t-shirt with Varric from Dragon Age, it's my workout shirt 💪😎✨

I've only been to one rave in my life: got some glowsticks w friends, danced to loud EDM, and the people around us got really weird and touchy-feely so we left early :'D (yes we went to the rave sober... it was at a con)

With the misconceptions out of the way, let’s look at some facts/questions!

What IS The Bartender 1941?

First off, there isn’t much as to what they are. But I can confidently say that they’re a zombie/undead. I just don’t know what type of zombie.

No, they’re not a demon or anything.

How old are they?

Biologically, more than 100+ years old as he is born somewhere between the early 1900s. However, they’re physically 30-36 years old.

Why use They/Them/It pronouns?

I separated The Bartender’s identity into two parts: (He/him) • The one who died before transformation vs (They/Them/It) • Being the undead, because “he” is dead.

I will address that he was a male before he died.

Canon sexuality?

So far, they don’t have one since I don’t view it as important to implement into a horror character. Does The Rake or Slenderman have a canon sexuality? No, so why my OC?

But I do see them as Aroace-coded.

Have they interacted with other Creepypastas canonly?

Nope! And I don’t want that happening! Headcanons/AUs are fine though!

What nationality/ethnicity are they?

Ethnically, 100% White European

Nationally, US American citizen (born there)

Hi anon! I miss our bug boy too - but it's what inspired me to make the 'Bloodlines' series!

So, my Roach headcanons, it's a bit long but hey ho:

He's British - born and raised in rural green of East of England.

Accent? He has what is known as a Modern RP British accent (Youtube example) with a hint of "farmer" sometimes thrown in because you can't escape it if you live in the East lmao.

He hold dual nationality (British and US) but uses the British flag.

He is a Royal Marine, specifically apart of the Special Forces Support Group. He joined when he was 17.

He is a K9 handler, chosen to be a part of a new trial of Royal Marine based K9s. This is how he met his dog, Nacho! The trial was scrapped leaving them as the only pair that made it through.

He's a skilled and focused fighter on duty, but off duty he's a friendly, empathic guy who likes to make jokes.

He knows British Sign Language - after his mother's death, he was diagnosed with Selective Mutism. Therapy and counselling helped deal with his grief and he started to speak again but sometimes he uses BSL because he's a little sh*t ;)

His appearance:

He has sandy blonde hair, cut fairly short but has a good ol' fluffy fringe parted on the right.

His eyes are a bluey-green.

Caucasian skin with freckles on his arms.

He's 180cm tall, he's well-built with defined muscle but naturally slim and small.

He has a scar on his right cheek and neck, along with many unseen scars on his chest.

His family:

His father is American, his mother was British.

His father is a high ranked officer in the US Army, he started out in the US Miliatry Police and worked his way up.

His father was stationed as security in the UK at a USAF base, its how he met Roach's mother.

His mother passed away from cancer when he was 9, this strained his relationship with his father.

Roach's uncle is Sandman! Sandman is the younger brother of Roach's father.

Roach considers Sandman his "dad", he stepped up when his biological father didn't and has always been there for Roach.

A big part of Roach's background was being apart of a secretive joint unit between Special Forces Royal Marines and US Marines. The unit only did a handful of missions before it was attacked during a mission to retrieve stolen intel from an enemy compound. The unit were travelling in a convoy when they were swarmed by insurgents - by the time help arrived, only 4 unit members were still alive and Roach was one of them (along with Nacho). This is where he received his scars.

He was sent back to the UK 2 days later to recover in hospital - on arrival he was met by Sandman, who had flown in as soon as he heard about the attack. Roach was offered a place in the SAS but he turned it down as they did not want Nacho to come with him. Expansion on the Parenting Roles: A Footnote

A. The Terms.

Child nations usually refer to their parents using whatever terms the parent's culture uses for parents: "Papa", "Vader", "Mama", "Mum", etc. Thess term doesn't usually relate to whether the parent nation is the child's Sire or Dam, and instead is the preffered parental title for the parent's Gender.

For example: if Austria and Hungary had a child together, and Austria was the Dam and Hungary the Sire, that doesn't automatically mean that the child would call Austria "Mum" and Hungary "Dad" (or the Hungarian/Austrian equivalents). They might, if that was what Hungary and Austria wanted, but more likely they would refer to them using a term that matched their Gender, I.e Hungary as "Mum" and Austria as "Dad".

B.1 The Passing Down of Personality Traits Between Parent(s) and Child

[Note: This first part is not my original headcanon. I have seen many people say this before.]

Nations' genetics are not a simple thing. There is no 50% from one parent, 50% from the other parent. Instead, nations take on traits from all nations that spent a lot of time with them when they were young.

For example [Note: For this example I am only using one trait per person as it would take too long to list all the traits she got from each person.]:

In my universe, Seychelles is England and France's biological child, and she inherited France's fashion sense and England's tendency towards passive agressive/snarky comments about nations she dislikes.

France had sole custody of her for quite a while after she was born. However, during the French Revolution he was incapable of caring for her and unwilling to give her to England, so he sent her to live with one of his other colonies, Haiti.

Haiti at this time was preparing for the Haitian Revolution (1791-1804) [This was an *extremely* important event in the history of slavery and racism, and I haven't got the expertise necessary to explain it properly, so please find a more educated person to teach you.] and passed on her revolutionary spirit to Seychelles. It's also because of Haiti that Seychelles - unlike her siblings (namely America, Canada, Greenland, Diemen and Australia because New Zealand and Hong Kong came under England's control in 1840ish [Note: Greenland and Diemen shall be explained in a future post about my story.]) - has the ability to imagine a world free of colonialism and racism.

(Those siblings were all at least half non-white [Note: In this context I am using "white" to refer to European nations and humans/humans with largely European heritage, and non-white simply means any nations/humans that are not "white".] but were white-passing and were therefore indoctrinated into thinking that the colonial system was the only way. They were discriminated against, but more in a xenophobic, classist way, whereas Seychelles experienced the full horrors of 19th century racism.)

Anyway, Seychelles was removed from Haiti's care in 1804 (once Haiti was independent and no longer a part of the French Empire, France didn't trust her to take care of Seychelles) and shortly after given to England as part of a peace treaty.

England was a largely absent parent during the Napoleonic Wars and so Seychelles spent most of her time in Australia, Diemen, and the Carer's care. (The Carer's are a whole other ballgame, that shall not be explained in this post.)

From Australia Seychelles inherited a dogged sense of loyalty and a healthy dose of practical, brutal, ruthlessness. (Turns out shipping a bunch of criminals to a child's land does Weird Things to their psyche, who could've guessed?) And from Diemen she inherited an eye for valuables and a tendency towards self-sacrifice. (As I said earlier, shipping a bunch of criminals to a child's land does Weird Things to their psyche.)

And this example is already far too long so I'll just end it there.

B.2 The Passing Down of Physical Attributes Between Parent(s) and Child

[Note: Same disclaimer as above applies here too. Other people have done this first.]

Physical Appearance in nations usually changes little over their lifetimes. The changes that do happen are usually the result of trauma, a sudden shift in their country's culture, or an outside (usually magical) force.

The most common thing that will change is hair and eyes.

For Example: Hong Kong is China and England's biological child (China is his Dam, England is his Sire.), but was born looking identical to China with black hair, dark eyes and olive skin. When England took him as part of the Treaty of Nanking, his appearance shifted to look more like a mix of both of his parents. His eyes lightened to a light-brown, almost gold, and green hazel, and his hair went from pitch-black to a black-brown.

These changes were because of a shift in his country's culture.

For another example, Austria was born with brown eyes and hair. He so desperately wanted a more "interesting" appearance that his eyes became purple.

This change wasn't because of any of the usual reasons: a change in culture, trauma, or an outside force; it was because of his own will. This is much rarer than other reasons, but is still known from a few examples with modern nations. (e.g. Australia's hair changed from a dirty blonde to dark brown after Diemen died because she wanted to remember him.)

1. All nations have an Essence. Kind of like a scent in Omegaverse, it is their very being and all nations can sense it. If they're only in the same room, such as in a World Meeting, they can tell basic things: if they're at war, how their agriculture's going, who they are, etc. If they're close relationship-wise (I.e Canada and America) they can tell: if they're stressed, if they're scared, etc.

Nations in close relationships often leave traces of their Essence on each other ( e.g. at World Meetings everyone knows that America and Canada are brothers, that France and Seychelles consider each other father and daughter, etc)

Empires (*See Empire Footnote) such as the British Empire, French Empire, and Soviet Union, often leave a distinctive Empire-Essence (*See Empire Footnote) on their underlings to mark them as theirs.

Feeling another nations essence is a very intimate thing. To do so a nation must place their face on a specific place on another nation's neck. Feeling the essence sends the nation Feeling it into a dream-like state, where they see important moments in the other's life, things from their Land (e.g. eucalyptus trees for Australia), and sometimes remnants of their Sire and Dam (see second headcanon) or important nations in their life.

Empire Footnote

Empires are slightly different to normal nations. In addition to their usual Essence, they also produce an Empire-Essence that they use to mark their territory (the nation's under their jurisdiction).

They also have Empire Rage, which is different to normal rage because it makes all other nations in the vicinity - especially those under their jurisdiction - feel immense amounts of fear. If the empire is extraordinarily angry, their Empire Rage can also affect humans, though this is rare.

Some not-so-common North American bros headcanons let's go:

Ÿ Not just na bros but all nations are born. Either to human parents or nations or even a combination (although that's very rare). I hc them to be born of the same mother: "Native America". Now, I don't for a second think that she represented North American or the native population in general. I think she was the Algonquin (maybe) representation. A nation among many in the North Americas. Alfred's biological dad is the rat man (Arthur) and Matthew's is of course Francis (very shit dad very bad father wouldn't recommend).

Ÿ Alfred visits Matt so often that Matt's neighbors know him by name. On the other hand, Matt rarely visits Alfred for one reason or another. I believe it's just their tradition.

Ÿ What if?? Matt supported cannabis businesses?? Matt after the 1960s and Alfred's capitalism training is unstoppable! I later imagine him investing in cannabis and real estate. It's a niche hc but one I will elaborate on more in the future. I will gladly fight anyone on this! Also, Matt probably has a very nice modern house/smaller mansion somewhere in the forests of British Columbia, yet the bastard prefers his wooden cabins and apartments in Quebec.

Ÿ Alfred has penthouses all over the states. Loves a traditional blue suburban tho!

Ÿ When Alfred was a child he would often sneak out of the house during the night and go somewhere out in the fields and meadows to watch the night sky. He was (and still is) so fascinated with what lies beyond that he sometimes wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Arthur would often freak out over his disappearance of course. Yet nothing could hold the boy back. Not any lock and certainly not his dad or his governess. He would just lay there in the grass imagining a way to go up there and see what no one has yet seen. Imagining himself being the one to explore this vast nothingness. (Imma cry a lil bit excuse me pls) These days Al spends his free time working with nasa ofc.

Ÿ Both have daddy issues I mean that's a given jesus christ

Ÿ Speaking of daddy issues, Matt hasn't talked to Francis as a son should with his father in a long ass time. I'd even say they haven't talked like family ever. Sure they have one on one conversations but they are brief and not very deep. Idk if ppl will get me but what I mean is, they talk like friends and colleagues, not like father and son.

Ÿ Arthur and Alfred bicker and can be cold to each other, but they do exchange moments that befit a father and son at times.

Ÿ In my mind, Matt is the older of the two. An older brother overshadowed by his younger sibling. Tho he doesn't really mind it all that much. He saw what power does to those who wield it and doesn't want to be a part of it. Being this close to a superpower and not being part of it has its benefits tho. Economic growth and all that jazz.

Ÿ While Matt is a born artist, Alfred is excellent at math. Both are incredibly intelligent young men. :)

Inazuma Eleven Headcanons

These are just my random headcanons, some a similar to Canon but I didn't know until I did some more research. Most of them are just silly shit. Some of these headcanons are true in my inazuma eleven go rewrite fanfiction.

Original Series Centric

Kidou & Haruna's parents worked for the Kidou Financial group before dying.

Endou's dad, Hiroshi, took his wife, Atsuko's last name because of there was no other male members of Atsuko's family.

Endou lived in Cotarl with Daisuke for the last years of his grandfather's life

Daisuke died at the ripe old age of 77, six years after season 3, he was 69 in season 3 according to my headcanon

Most of the National Japanese Teams have other jobs besides playing professional soccer; Fudou is a hairdresser, Kazemaru is a photographer, and so on.

When you wanna get plastered and have fun at a club? Call Fudou.

Aphrodi's parents weren't married and his mom was a japanese bussiness woman who died when Aphrodi was a kid and his dad is a Korean business man who had an affair that resulted in Aphrodi, he wanted nothing to do with Aphrodi

Nagumo's Korean on his dad's side and Japanese on his mom's, his mom was estranged from her biological family and when she & her husband died no one of her family wanted to take Nagumo in so he was sent to Ohisama En

Suzuno's parents are Korean who were vacationing in Japan, Suzuno was supposed to be born later after their vacation but was born premature causing his mom's death, meanwhile his father had passed away in a car accident on the way to the hospital. They had no other family in Korea so Suzuno was left behind and taken into the foster system

Midorikawa likes K-Dramas

Kidou isn't allowed to drive, either Sakuma, Genda or Haruna have to drive him

When in Okinawa, Aki visited her aunt, Tenma's mom and that's how Tenma knew about Raimon

Hiroto's birth name is Tatsuya, his parents were arrested when he was 3 and he was sent to Sun Garden where because he looked like Hiroto, they just started calling him Hiroto

Kageyama has a little sister that was born one year before his dad died, she's Hikaru's mom

Hiroto and Midorikawa are unofficially together, they live together & raise Kariya together but aren't officially in a relationship

Kidou isn't allowed to have pets

The FFI captains had a group chat together where Endou accidentally told them about the Alien situation

Mark Kruger & Dylan already knew because Ichinose & Domon accidentally told them

The break trio never told the others about the events of Chrono Stone and Galaxy, they will take that secret to their graves

Aki & Ichinose are long distance dating

Ichinose, Domon, Aki & Nishigaki, from Kirkwood, are still friends till this day, they all video call once a month

Endou Daisuke visited the old Inazuma Eleven a few months after the FFI, he also visited the school and questioned why it was sooo very different and everyone refused to explain it to him

Daisuke is very protective of Endou, Rococo & all of little Gigantes to the point of being overbearing

Daisuke & the Yokato Principal reunited again after he visited Raimon

They all go to therapy & make the kids go too after all the Fifth Sector stuff

Gouenji purposely dressed like a hippie/stripper to distract Senguuji

Because people have a hard time pronouncing their names, they use localized names which are their dub names when playing international matches

Gouenji's stage name Axel is mispronounced as Alex by most people, including the cast until Ishido when he used Alex Zabel as Ishido's fake name

Gouenji Katsuya is very confused by his children's choices and refuses to deal with any of this

In GO, apart from Raimon, Midorikawa and the members of Gemini Storm are still not allowed in any school they destroyed

The Kidou & Kira groups basically gaslit the world into forgetting the Aliea incident. They made it so that not a whiff of information got out of Japan

GO Series Centric

Tenma had meet all the members of Inazuma Japan, including the managers and Coaches, before meeting Endou; Aki is his cousin, Gouenji saved him as a little kid, Tsunami babysat him multiple times, he used to play with Hijikata before moving to Inazuna town, etc.

Tsurugi's family isn't very rich and he uses his mom's very old flip phone because they couldn't afford it

Midori was a former delinquent, Tobitaka took her in and they have a sibling relationship

Tsurugi made his custom uniform, the school was impressed that he took the effort to make that and let him wear it

Tenma & Tsurugi have secret Hissatsu practices together, it started after Fire Tornado Double Drive

The kids all have to use stage names like the previously mentioned localized names

Shindou's mother is Italian, her father's name is Ricardo and maiden name is Di Rodrigo so Shindou uses Ricardo Di Rodrigo as his stage name

Like Gouenji, Tenma's name Arion is often mispronounced as Orion

Gouenji sent the money for Yuuichi's surgery

Alternate Yuuichi played professionally for the Russian Football team

Hakuryuu is an orphan, he was found by Fifth Sector in an orphanage and lives with Fudou after go Galaxy

Shuu is a fucking ghost, only Ancient Dark, Hakuryuu & Tenma know. Tenma knows because of the miximax, and Ancient Dark & Hakuryuu were told

Kira Shuugo is a distant cousin of Coach Hitomiko, he is in the same class as Kirino who mentioned that Kariya told Kira that be was a SEED and Kira had a laugh and told Midorikaw & Hiroto

Kariya was grounded for being a little shit

Hikaru's dad is a cousin of the Ichihoshi Brothers from Orion and was named for the deceased Ichihoshi Hikaru

Hikaru was bullied for years as a child and he was lonely since his parents were always working

Kinako managed to pass the interruption point and make a new reality where she lives & raises Fei as well as helping the Second Stage Children

Senguuji Daigo is a single dad, his wife died giving birth to Yamato

Minamisawa's parents moved to out of the county because of his dad's work, he moved to a school with dorms because of this

Yamato loves his dad despite all the things he did but acknowledges that he did horrible things

Kurosaki Makoto doesn't understand the internet, he is like a 80-year-old man in a teenager's body

Yukimura lives with Fubuki, his parents died aren't around much and Fubuki became his legal guardian

The second stage children are the descendants of the characters. Most obvious is Zanark and Zanakuro & Saru and Tenma

The members of Protocol Omega are Second Stage Children that El Dorado got to first

Beta is Sakura's descendant

The members of Chrono Strom that weren't picked for the Earth Eleven have a weekly bitching session topics include Shinsuke being a traitor, if Saru was a Tenma's descendant, and so on

The Earth Eleven do not know about Chrono Storm or the Revolution against Fifth Sector, they are very confused by inside things said by more aware characters

Shindou hated the Earth Eleven because they didn't respect Soccer

Tenma misses Fei, and every year on the day they meet he would go out to sulk and cry

Tenma & Tsurugi broke a goalpost when practicing Fire Tornado Double Drive, Gouenji paid for it

Kariya found out about the Aliea Academy stuff after he tricked Nagumo into telling him

Tenma, Tsurugi and Shindou were 100% sure that Zanakurou was Zanark fucking with them and were waiting for Fei too

The Second Stage Children have Totems, that's why SARU is a monkey

After being told about the Alien situation, Kirino went to Kazemaru for advice about being left behind being vague enough that he didn't spill any information about the aliens since they were in a public park and thought Kazemaru already knew about it

Kazemaru did in fact not know about the aliens and was very confused by Kirino but still gave him advice about his dark emperor experience while not telling all the things about the Dark Emperors

The Aliens don't know about Kenshin or Mixi-Max and only banned it since they assumed that it was an advantage to Earth

All the SSC kids have SOULS and Kenshins, their bodies just can't handle having or using them

Besides the SSC, if a normal person has a kenshin they can't use a SOUL and vice versa

The exception to this is people who mixi-max or Kenshin bonds someone with a SOUL, so Tsurugi & Shindou have Ookami and Peacock because of Gryphon

Ares/Orion Centric

Since Hiroto & Atsuya live in this reality and Ichihoshi Mitsuri is dead in that reality, I imagine in GO Ichihoshi Mitsuri is alive

Tenma's super good at house work & cooking! As seen in the manga!

Tsurugi's horrible at housework & especially cooking. He once created Mutant Broccoli that the team had to fight.

Shindou is semi-capable of housework & can make basic things in cooking.

Torb/Sor is in the same generation as Endou Canon, Baddap Sleed and so on

Toramaru joined Kidokawa Seishuu because he still idolizes Gouenji

Tsunami & Tobitaka don't play soccer in this reality

Since Gouenji never went to Okinawa, Tenma got extremely injured and got transferred to Inazuma Hospital & meet and befriended Yuuka & the Tsurugi Brothers and later Taiyou

The GO Kids attend different schools in this reality, here are some of the examples;

Kariya attends Alia/Eisei Academy instead of Raimon

Taiyou attends Outei Tsukinomiya because of Nosaka

Lus Kasim is a jack of all trades, Master of none as seen by the fact he was a FW, MF & DF

Tenma & Tsurugi attend Kidokawa Seishuu

Norika is the physically strongest of the Inakuni Raimon members, she's like the Team's strong mom

The real reason that Raimon were separated was because the Orion foundation wanted to weaken Japan

The Guardians of the Queen replaced Orpheus because Orpheus didn't want to work for Orion and were all injured by the disciples

The Ares/Orion timeline was created by El Dorado's meddling in the timeline

Zhao Jinyun knows about the original universe, he accidentally traveled there once

Ohh, i really love the headcanon that Alfred has been married/has decedents. Like, I've always pondered if nations could biologically reproduce with humans or even nations of the opposite sex. In my own headcanon, I've always thought of a Texas personification being a product of something like that.

Yeah the idea of nations forming relationships with humans is one I like a lot! I kinda imagine, personally, that the 'nation gene' is like, a rare recessive trait so most of their decedents are just normal humans, though rarely another nation might be born as a result. I feel like that's why Rome is the grandparent of the Italy bros and not their dad; it skipped a generation!

Also when it comes to how nations feel about humans, I feel like Alfred sees humans as not being to different from himself. Sure he lives longer, and he has super strength and resilience, but so do most superheroes. He spend his formative years mostly talking to and hanging around humans, so he sees himself as on their level. Other nations don't always have the same fondness, with many nations seeing their human companions as pets or even playthings. After all humans live such short lives, and most of their lives are largely inconsequential. Some of them see relationships with humans as a fun little distraction, some actively try to avoid developing an attachment.

Who are their parents?

I like to think that, aside from sibling relationships, some Nations had parents, either adopted or ‘biologically’. We know in the canon they were Ancient Nations, such as Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt or Germania. That includes Britannia for the UK+Ireland brothers, but I believe they had more than one parent.

Nations aren’t ‘born’ the human way. Instead, they can either be born from the Land itself by having a cord-like attached to them from the ground (explaining why they have a belly button) or just appearing (also with a belly button with the power of ~magic~). Like one day, they just woke up as a young child in the middle of a field. Were they humans before, or did they just materialize out of thin air? No one knows. Humans usually adopt them or at least let them stay in the village, thinking the nation is an orphan or lost.

However, there’s a difference between being born from the Land and appearing on the Land. That’s where the ‘biological’ versus ‘adopted’ come into play. 

When a Land is already occupied and a new nation is born from it, that means they’re ‘biologically’ related because they share the same foundation. The foundation can mean the same language, culture, people and more. They’re normally a descendant of the older nation. 

For example, my headcanon for Ireland is that her mother wasn’t Britannia or, as others call her, Albion. Ireland’s mother was in fact Ériu or Cessair as her human name. I took inspiration from the collection of poems “Lebor Gabála Érenn”, the Book of Invasions. It says that Cessair was the leader of the first inhabitant of Ireland. In a way, that makes her one of the Ancients. Our modern Ireland, Éire, was born on the sixth and final invasion, the Milesians. They represent the Irish people we know today. She found him as a baby, attached to the Land, and knew he was hers. They shared a deeper connection because they come from the same Land. Sadly, she Faded shortly after so Ireland was later adopted by Albion.

A nation that is born by ‘appearing’ doesn’t share the same foundation as the older nation. Appearing nations usually represent a new language, a shift in culture, or other bigger change. Imagine blowing on a dandelion and one of the seeds fall into the ground before growing into a plant: that’s an Appearing nation. They’re different from the Old ones and more prone to danger because it meant that change is on the way. 

Another example, my hc for Britannia, aka Albion, is that she found baby England wandering one day in her Land. He wasn’t born from the Land, instead, he Appeared because the Anglo-Saxon was quite different from her Brittonic roots. Whereas for Wales, he was born from the Land since he shares some of the same foundations as hers. She knew what that meant for her to raise little ones, that it meant her time was coming, but she loved them as her sons and raised them as much as she could before she returned to the Land, just like Ériu.

Not all Ancient nations were compassionate with new nations. It wasn’t uncommon to kill the young ones, back in the day, when they appeared or were born from the Land. Ancients nations were different from the modern ones, they had a different way of living and would not hesitate to eliminate the first sign of trouble for fear of being replaced or claimed. 

That was what almost happened to Scotland when he was found by Celt. The man didn’t want anything to do with the baby that came from the Land and was ready to let mother nature claim him. Unfortunately for him, baby Scotland was stubborn and wouldn’t leave him alone, even with threats thrown at him. In the end, Celt begrudgingly took him under his wing (by leaving him most of the time with Albion, but he tried lol). This is why the four of them see each other as brothers because Albion raised them until she Faded.

Nowadays, there’s a small chance for a new nation to appear/be born since most of the world is already populated. Unless there’s a big change that spurs the birth of a nation on claimed land, then the sight of a baby/toddler would be quite a shock. Which was the case for Northern Ireland when he was born from the Land back in the 1920s. Even the micronations are a novelty because it has been a long time since nations were children themselves.

Headcanon notes: His mother’s name was Lina and his biological father was a young noble who decided he wanted nothing to do with her after he found out she was with child. Gilbert was actually born in Bremen, in the home of Otmar Beilschmidt; a local blacksmith who found and took in his mother and would later raise him as his own after Lina passes. Ten years later, Otmar would take his son join some local merchants on a pilgrimage to Acre where, as fate would have it, Gilbert would start his life as a nation. And though he’s never met her, I’m sure he keeps her in the back of his mind when he tends to expectant mothers and newborn children.

Puerperal Fever, also known as childbed fever, was a disease among women of childbearing age. Left untreated, the infection can spread and eventually lead to death.

There are many reasons why women contracted Puerperal Fever and the lack of proper hand washing and sanitizing techniques certainly contributed to it. In 1847, Ignaz Semmelweis -- A Hungarian obstetrician -- Discovered the link between an attending doctor’s lack of hand hygiene and their patient’s increased risk for getting infected. He proposed that doctors should wash their hands with a chlorinated lime solution before attending to mothers and successfully cut the mortality rate from 18% in May to less than 3% in June-November of the same year!

EngPort Headcanon 4

England and Portugal are par excellence the dynamic "friends who become lovers" but it is necessary to understand how that friendship is formed, as it will be the basis for developing romantic feelings between them in the future.

That is the central theme of this post: The sweet childhood.

Today there is no song as the central theme but my engport playlist is very long (I have approximately 80 songs in it) so I will only mention a fragment of these. Let's get started.

Childhood as nations: an impossible reality.

For certain things shown in the anime and manga I feel that it is important to remember that the characters are not human ... in a biological way. We must give importance to this fact because it lets us know that they experience life in a very different way than human beings.
