its insane to see that post about neve vs calpernia flying around as if it's not unmasked racism lmaooooo.

like say it. say it out loud. say it for the crowd, make it obvious that your real problem here is that neve is a brown woman who YOU feel has no purpose to the story - nevermind that most of the veilguard characters feel this way, but i don't see paragraphs-long posts about the redundancy of ohhhh let's say harding as a character. even though dorian and morrigan and varric and the inquisitor themselves all show up, and could all act in the same 'narrates events of inquisition/connect to inquisition' that harding has.

im sorry but it's deranged to say there's no narrative difference between calpernia and neve's roles in the story based on superficial things (like calpernia having a leg prosthetic in the concept art which she never had when we met her in dai anyway????) and then go 'but anyway neve is boring' and not bother to examine... any of what you just said. in the SAME POST.

and i don't dislike calpernia, is the thing. i don't dislike her, i wish she HAD been in veilguard, but you know what, i don't wish she was the shadow dragons liaison. i wish she'd founded the shadow dragons, instead of maevaris and dorian. that feels more true to the calpernia i know in dai. neve as the shadow dragons liaison very clearly is not part of the shadow dragons - neve is well-connected, through her work, and connects you to multiple parties in dock town, like the threads. i actually do like that she's not directly part of the faction she's "representing" because it makes her priorities and desires feel different to the other companions who are all directly part of their factions, and i think it lends well to her questline which is neve trying to decide what she wants to be and who she wants to be and the kind of difference she wants to make. which is not a storyline you could have with calpernia, who already knows what she wants.

anora, celene, cauthrien, meredith, and leliana are all white women. cassandra is at the very least white passing. the inquistor and warden are the only potential people of colour or women of colour in this whole list of powerful women. "why aren't women of colour satisfied with the representation that white women already have!!! smdh,,,,"
