Firstly, can I say thank you for all your GO meta. I've spent much of my insomnia soaked night reading through your musings and the replies, and almost all of what I've read makes so much sense to me.

There is a question, honestly, but first..

I read GO when it first came out, and have probably been an avid Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman fan for longer than many fans have been alive. Loved the book, adored the first series, found myself completely floored by S2. The last 15 is probably. - no that's wrong, Definitely - the most beautiful, tragic, heart wrenching scene I've ever encountered. Realising what just broke you was played out by two middle aged, straight actors but all you've seen are two beings whose universe is each other and who are being ripped apart by what they are feeling. I don't have the words, I really don't. Sublime acting & writing.

My response surprised me, I couldn't let it go and I worried at it like a (small, red eyed) dog with a bone. Then I found Tumblr and realised I was far from alone. I've read all the theories and a fair bit of fan fiction (re Michael Sheen, "I love that the fans write their own stories, even if most of them involve David & I having sex"). Some of the POV resonate some don't. Yours do much more than most.

After all that, mine isn't a huge question, it's just a niggle I have. Maggie. Something doesn't feel right there and I wondered if she had set anything off on your radar? Given that NOTHING is accidental in a Gaiman story..

Maggie can't spell and it was highlighted. UGRENCY. (T.O.S.T.E, and Angle anyone) Maggie doesn't eat, though she loves a skinny latte, and doesn't drink alcohol. Claims the record shop is failing, but sends a pub in Edinburgh music for their jukebox? She was never a teenager, and whilst claiming to be tired of being scared is completely fearless. Won't leave Az on his own, is unfazed by demons and doesn't question what Cr & Az are, unlike Nina.

I'm not sure where I'm going with it, but something is off and I wondered if you had any thoughts?

Ok, enough, I'll stop rambling and step out of your questions now. Thank you for bearing with me if you made it this far.

First I just want to acknowledge and validate your adoration for Good Omens! This fandom exists For Reasons! Cheers, and thank you for your ask.

I've seen other folks wondering what you're wondering about Maggie; you're definitely not alone. For the little it's worth, I don't actually think she's ethereal or occult. I think she's a human being with some quirks. (I also can't agree with "doesn't eat" -- we don't see her eat, and she doesn't accept Aziraphale's offer of an Eccles cake, but the former is likely happenstance and the latter, well, I wouldn't accept an Eccles cake either if I had just taken such a giant monetary gift from someone. It's just too much; I'd feel that I was taking advantage and not being properly grateful.)

I actually don't drink alcohol, and I assure you I'm fully 100% no-question-about-it human. (Though there are those who would say I'm more than slightly demonic.) I had an alcoholic parent, which shaped my young life in some not-amazing ways, and I never understood how they got to be that way, so I decided to stay safe and just... not try drinking.

When I got older and more confident in my ability to steer clear of alcoholism, I tried a bit of wine and a bit of brandy and a bit of other thises and thats and discovered that I plain old didn't like them! So I drink non-alcoholic cocktails (I love this fashion! N/A cocktails can be creative and tasty!) and locally-made sodas and if that makes me weird, okay, I'm weird. It doesn't make me an angel. Doesn't even make me a "better" (whatever that is) person -- it's morally neutral. It just is.

(I'm not a skinny-latte person, though, in case you were wondering whether I'm Maggie. Chai is my coffeeshop preference.)

A thematic reason I think Maggie is human has to do with an extension of the Good Omens axiom that Heaven and Hell are just names for sides. Demons, angels, a vulnerability or a trick more or less and other than that they're basically the same. I want to believe that in the GOverse, that's true of humans too -- we have more in common with angels and demons than anyone cares to admit, despite the difference in lifespan and our superior inventiveness. Possibly including quirkiness!

I want this to be true because it means Crowley and Aziraphale needn't be lonely together on Earth even if Heaven and Hell do finally chuck them out for good. I want this to be true because it adds some intriguing resonance to a Second Coming of Jesus story. I want it to be true because I want Good Omens to keep saying go-be-properly-good to humanity.

I could be wrong, of course. I've had several of my headcanons contradicted by Word of Gaiman already, barely a month after s2 came out. I'm sure more will go the way of the dodo, and there are a few things I've said that I don't actually believe any more myself.

But I want Maggie to be human because I like her. I like her shy awkward approach to Nina. I like her willingness to explain How To Human When You're Crying to Aziraphale without shaming him for not knowing. I like her loyalty to her benefactor, which she doesn't trumpet but which is brave as all get-out when the demons show up. I like her flipping the bird at the demons, creatively defending the bookshop, standing up to Shax, giving Nina space to work things out.

I watched good omens 2 and I have a lot of thoughts and feelings and I am going to write them under the cat.

so first up I did not like it, so if you loved it and don't want anything to harsh your vibe then thats fine please don't read it. but.

I didn't like good omens 1 all that much as a book fan. I thought it lost a lot of what made the book good i.e. the sense of humour. It wasn't funny. I did however like all the new parts and I LOVED the new ending. I always thought the ending was the weakest part, and the new ending was much more narratively satisfying. So there's no reason why I shouldn't enjoy GO2.

but GO2 was an incoherent mess that felt like it needed at least another revision round?? episode 6 felt like a payoff to a story that hadn't happened in the previous 5 episodes.

The head angel and the head demon are in love. the coffee shop woman and the vinyl woman aren't in love but maybe are MFEO. These are great threads that at the end should have been tied up into a big bow that is our heroes realising that they are in love, but tragically cannot be together because they want different things and aren't willing to compromise. That's great. Add in a couple of pastiches and you'd be golden! Have our heroes interact more and be all screwball comedy? Have them actually go to Edinburgh together in the car and talk?? Have there actually be 10,000 demons rampaging through London and it be a threat to the world?? Or play up the tension between heaven and hell both wanting an armageddon?? Have Aziraphale be sad about no longer being the official angel in London? Have him yearn for heaven? Have Crowley make the case for Alpha Centuri again? All of these things were there in the plot, but not in any really tight or obvious way?

The only reason I was anticipating the kiss was because I saw the posts about it a month ago when it was leaked. There was no romantic tension between them. But it was possible! We just needed some parallels?? Why weren't Crowley and Aziraphale caught in the rain under an awning, to echo that they were sublimating their relationship onto Nina and Maggie? The whole Jane Austen dance thing felt like it just didn't work and should have been scrapped rather than forced through.

ALSO and this is something that irked me from the very start, Maggie should have had a CD shop, not a Vinyl shop. Nina should have had a cool trendy cafe that also sells vinyl, that paradoxically would be doing very well. Vinyl is popping off. Soho is full of shops selling it. The whole fucking conceit that Maggie's shop is failing because she's selling vinyl makes no sense unless it was written in 2002 not 2022.

I'm just disappointed. This could have been good. Instead it was just meh. And we didn't even get a good kiss out of it? Was this a covid thing? I don't even know.

Either way I'm sure that there will be some baller fics come out of it but argh, what a waste.

Book Recommendations

Here is a super short list of books I magically had time to read this summer.

1) Hush Hush Series - Becca Fitzpatrick (Hush Hush, Crescendo, Silence, Finale)

Quick Summary: The main character, Nora, comes to biology class one day and is partnered up with a boy named Patch. She’s never seen him before and he immediately drives her crazy. However, as the story progress, she can’t help but wonder what his story is and where he came from. Something happens while the two are at an amusement park and that's when things become complicated and dangerous.

My Review: Honestly, this is one of the best series I have ever read. If you are a Deckerstar fan or love Fallen Angels falling in love with mortal beings then this series is great. Their chemistry is amazing, they bicker a bit, there is some angst, but they will do anything for each other. They remind me of Deckerstar so much and I instantly fell in love with the series and them. You never know whats coming, the twists and turns are endless. Highly recommend!

“You're a guardian angel now." I was still too much in awe to wrap my mind around it, but at the same time I felt amazement, curiosity...happiness. "I'm your guardian angel," he said. "I get my very own guardian angel? What, exactly, is your job description?" "Guard your body." His smile tipped higher. "I take my job seriously, which means I'm going to need to get acquainted with the subject matter on a personal level.”

2) Red Queen Series - Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen, Glass Sword, Kings Cage, War Storm)

Quick Intro: This series deals with a girl named Mare Barrow. The society she lives in is divided between the Silvers (Silver Blood, Elite Class) and the Reds (Red Bloods, Lower Class). The silvers are each born with a special gift (Control of Fire, Minds Reader/Controler, Manipulate Perception, Teleportation, etc). The King and Queen have 2 sons: Tiberias Calore VII (mother deceased), and his half-brother Maven Calore (born of the Queen). Both are Burners and have the power to control fire. Mare gets thrown into their world and things change when she discovers she too has powers. She is a Red and Reds are not supposed to possess power.

My Review: I’m currently on the fourth book of this series and all I can say is WOW. This series always has me trapped, wanting to read more and more. Sometimes reading more is never enough to quench my thirst. I find myself become attached to all the characters, especially the villains. Again, highly recommend!

“Thief,” he says, a strange surprise in his voice.

I blink at him, fighting the urge to laugh. I don’t even have the strength to protest. “Obviously.”

3) The Fourth Element Series - Kat Ross (The Midnight Sea, Blood of the Prophet, Queen of Chaos)

Quick Intro: When Nazafareen was younger, her sister is killed by a dark evil in front of her. For revenge, she joins the Waterdogs and is bonded with a daeva named Darius, who she despises. He is a human in body but possesses power. The golden cuffs around their wrists let them become stronger physically, but also become closer emotionally. As the series progresses Nazafareen realizes the Water Dogs are not all that they seem to be as an ancient Evil threatens the land.

My Review: In all honesty, it started out a bit slow in the beginning but after she joined the Waterdogs things began to pick up. Nazafareen’s bond with her Daeva, Darius, really adds a whole new level to the story, as well as the other Daevas and their bonded. Relationships are tested, secrets are revealed and what you think to be real changes constantly as the journey continues. Definitely recommend!

But this wasn't the boy I remembered. Darius was twenty now, lean and hard. I paused and prayed to the Holy Father that he had his walls up against me.”

“I took a step back. I couldn´t help it. His daeva? I´m not sure what I expected. Horns and a forked tail, perhaps. A creature as ugly on the outside as it was on the inside. But they looked just like us.”

“Yes. I thought it would make her stop hunting me”

“Did it?”

“No.” I turned so I could look at him. “You did”

“Me?”

“I was too busy worrying about what a thorn in my side you were to obsess about it anymore. One nightmare at a time please.”

4) Fallen Series - Lauren Kate (Fallen, Torment, Rapture, Passion)

Quick Intro: Lucinda ‘Luce’ Price is sent to Sword & Cross Reform School after she is accused of murdering a boy by starting a fire. While at the school she also meets the fearsome Randy, Todd, Gabbe, Arriane, Penn and Cameron, an attractive, dark-haired boy. She also comes across a blonde boy named Daniel Grigori who she swears she has met before, even though he says otherwise. Though she believes this could be her new start in life, darkness surely follows.

My Review: I am only on the third book as of now but I really enjoy the series. The first book was great and again, Luce and Daniel had some major Deckerstar vibes. They are soulmates. This series touches a lot into religion, fallen angels, and reincarnation. I definitely would recommend it!

Arriane cracked a smile. "The first of many. And you passed. At least, I think you passed. The gender of most of the faculty here is an ongoing, schoolwiide debate. Don't worry, you'll get into it.”

The brothers, Simeon, and Luke reacting to Angel MC throwing wine at God to become a demon

Warning: A little angst (MC's death) and a little vulgar language

Lucifer

When MC died, Lucifer already knew that they were becoming an angel.

He didn't like that but he didn't want to be selfish, so he overworked himself to not think about it.

That is until MC comes to his office, in a demon form with a proud look on their face.

Lucifer first thought he was imagining things until MC ran to him and gave him a hug while he was sitting down.

He was in shock for almost a minute but he quickly gave MC a hug, got them on his lap, and pulled them in for a kiss, not caring that he broke his composure.

But then Lucifer realized that they were a demon, what happened?

MC quickly told him the story.

"Well, being an angel wasn't so fun, I just missed you guys. So I decided to throw wine at God because he has the audacity to boss me around!"

Lucifer was very starstruck, MC threw wine... at God?

Fucking loves MC so much.

It's hard to see someone else living your dream. Marry him now.

Of course he's still concerned for MC because they did just become a demon.

Lucifer will take in the pride of having a partner who threw wine at fucking God.

He may or may not tease MC sometimes.

"You never learn do you?"

Mammon

Mammon became depressed after MC's death, they were like his other half.

Now they're probably with the angels so he'll never see them again.

He just gambled away all his money and got into more debt.

That was until Mammon came back to his room and seeing MC sitting on his bed, waving at him.

Didn't even think for a minute and ran to them, hugging and kissing them while they both sunk on the bed.

But after they stand up from the bed, he finally starts thinking and is confused on how they're in the Devildom.

MC tells him the story while having a proud face.

"I threw wine at God! I just want to be free and not follow so many rules."

Starts laughing nonstop, imagining his Father's face.

Ruffles MC's hair.

"I'm proud of ya!"

Leviathan

When MC died, he would not get out of his room.

Games and anime abandoned because they somehow remind him of MC.

His brothers needed to force him to eat and get some fresh air.

While he was ranting to Henry, MC bursts into his room.

Levi was SHOOK and was a little frightened thinking that it was one of his brothers to force him out until he heard their voice.

"I'm back!~"

Levi never got up so fast and ran to MC, hugging them hard.

His awkward attitude got thrown out the window, he was just relieved to see MC again.

That was until he remembered they were in the Devildom, he has lots of questions.

MC excitedly told him what happened.

"Well, I was starting to get bored and tired as an angel so I decided to throw wine at God!"

Needed a minute to comprehend it but when he did, he started laughing.

Wishes MC got a picture of it.

"I wish I had your confidence!"

Satan

When MC died, he really didn't know what to do.

Satan tried reading books but it was hard when there's a slight comparison to MC.

He tried going to cat cafes but it just reminded him of MC.

Satan was cleaning a classroom when someone hugged him from behind.

He quickly turned around, ready to push them away until he saw it was MC.

Quickly hugs and kisses MC, he's really excited to see them back and already starts thinking of date plans.

Until he realizes that MC was in their demon form, weren't they suppose to be an angel?

MC's face lights up and quickly tells him.

"God was giving me a lot of orders to do so I decided to throw wine at him!"

Takes a minute to process.

But then Satan starts laughing and pats their head.

Secretly, he was REAL proud of them. I mean, God did kill his sister right?

New date idea: Drinking wine.

"You will always be a troublemaker, won't you?"

Asmodeus

Starts going out to parties less and less after MC's death.

Asmo tries to keep up with appearance but it feels like a chore.

He'll sulk around his room, trying to think that MC is happy in the Celestial Realm.

Until someone kicks open his door. Asmo is ready to scold one of his brothers (Mammon) but his words get stuck in his throat when he sees MC.

They both run to each other and Asmo will hug h a r d that MC needs to ask to breathe.

MC only gets 1 second to breathe until they get attacked with kisses all around their face.

Asmo only realizes that MC is a demon when he remembers why he was sulking around.

MC excitedly tells him the story.

"I threw wine at God! You should've seen his face!"

H u h . . H U H

Kind of worried? I mean, MC did throw wine at GOD.

But that was kind of hot of MC?

That's one of his reasons on why he loves MC, they're fearless! It's kind of a problem sometimes

Though, Asmo is disappointed you didn't take any pictures. He could've posted it on Devilgram!

"You're so fearless!~ But I think we should set up on some boundaries..."

Beelzebub

Didn't eat a lot after MC died, even if his stomach growled REALLY loud.

His brothers forced him to eat because it was too loud.

Everyone was concerned for him.

While he was sitting at the dining table, looking at his plate of food, until he heard MC's voice.

"You're not gonna eat that?"

Never hugged someone so fast.

Even if he hugged MC fast, he was still surprised to see them.

Weren't they suppose to be in the Celestial Realm?

"Oh yeah... The Celestial Realm... Well I threw wine at God so I could come back here! He was kind of a bitch too..."

W-What

Yeah he was happy that MC was back with him but throwing WINE at GOD?

Worry chuckle.

He's also kind of proud though?

God deserved that honestly.

"You should be more careful MC... But since you're back, how about we eat? I'm hungry..."

Belphegor

Would not stop sleeping.

But even in his sleep, he felt cold, no matter how many blankets.

Belphie was used to MC's warmth.

On some nights he can't sleep, he tries to hold one of MC's favorite plushies.

While sleeping, he suddenly woke up because he felt a familiar warmth.

Quickly opened his eyes to see MC grinning at him.

Belphie became WOKE and hugged them tightly.

But then he realized, slowly but surely, that they aren't an angel.

MC told him the story.

"Well... I threw wine at God because he's so bossy. I just wanted freedom, y'know? You should've seen his face!

Belphie being Belphie, broke out laughing.

Is PROUD of MC.

Belphie kept imagining God's face, he wishes MC took a picture, he would've made it his lockscreen and laugh at it.

"Good job MC! I wish I could do that too!"

Simeon and Luke

(Writing them together)

What did they just watch?

Simeon and Luke saw how angry MC was to be in the Celestial Realm but didn't think they would throw WINE AT GOD.

Luke quickly brings napkins to God while Simeon calms MC down.

They are both thinking "Is this a dream??"

Didn't think MC would have that AUDACITY.

Simeon and Luke visit MC in the Devildom.

"Why would you do that! That was really unreasonable of you MC! Good thing we were there to calm God down!" Luke yelled out of concern.

"MC, you shouldn't pull stunts like that." said Simeon, also concerned.

"Serves him right! Shouldn't have been so bossy with me." Huffs MC.

In the end, Simeon and Luke are happy that MC is okay.

yo i dont wanna discourse on ppls posts and cant message u, u can decide whether to post this or not, but i just wanna say that the reason ppl call az/crowley homophobic is bc gaiman only made them word of god genderless Because people were saying oh theyre acted by two cis men so their relationship would be gay.

i, as a nonbinary queer person, wouldve loved if it had been a genuine thought out piece of representation, but it wasnt, he just said it because he didnt want people interpreting his characters as queer, and continued to do so when people said ok but theyd still be having gay sex and he said well angels are sexless and (i cant remember if he said so actually theyd be asexual or if ppl just took it that way).

im really sorry if this is news to you and obviously i dont speak for everyones opinion and interpretation of characters, but gaiman's word of god nonbinary and (again iirc) asexual canonization of them was unfortunately Not him trying to give more nuanced/marginalized rep, it Was born of homophobia because he didnt want people to see his characters as being gay/having gay sex. thats why people call it homophobic. :( again sorry but i hope this explanation helped show where others are coming from when they call it homophobic :(((

They literally cast a non-binary actor to play a non-binary character and openly showed this in marketing as a positive point for the show. They literally did non-gendered casting where they picked whoever was right for the part regardless of gender and also proudly used that fact in marketing. They had angels and demons alike be gender nonconforming/androgynous in appearance on purpose because they are stated in the book written 30+ years ago to be genderless. But go off I guess? Sure, no thought went into it, it was allllllllll just a panicked reaction to people suggesting Aziraphale and Crowley might have gay sex! /s

No seriously, all of this is so wrong I don't even know where to begin, and the "gee golly I guess you didn't know" tone doesn't help like, at all. Maybe that wasn't your intention, but I have actually read the book. I've been a fan of Neil's for years. I watched the show when it first dropped and read every single thing the man has said about it, both here and on IG and in interviews.

He was writing queer representation long before it was considered profitable or "woke" to do so (and even when it could actually have hurt his career to do so). He has been an advocate for queer people and our stories since before I was born. He has openly owned up to instances where his attempts were imperfect, and taken steps in modern adaptations to update the material based on his increased understanding. In short, you could not be more incorrect.

Neil Gaiman has also made a consistent habit, since long before Good Omens, of two things: 1) he will not answer questions about his writing with his own headcanons, ONLY what he (or in this case he and Terry) intentionally put down on the page or screen. 2) Beyond that, he leaves EVERYTHING up to fans' interpretation, because he believes once a story is released, it belongs to the fans.

This isn't new. He was like this long before the GO adaptation. And only after being pressed repeatedly and called homophobic for increasingly stupid reasons did he finally explain that no, he would not confirm Aziraphale and Crowley as gay (because genderless) but that didn't mean they weren't queer. And he still left room for fans to see what they wanted, just refused to pretend to have been writing something one way when he wrote it another. When frankly it would have been so much easier to be like "oh yeah totally they were gay men the whole time." But no. He was writing agender romance, not gay romance. That's still queer representation.

And the willful decision by scores of people to read that as homophobia is either a function of ignorance, or bad faith, or both. But I'm really tired of seeing it written down as fact when the evidence is literally there on his own fucking tumblr account that this isn't the case.

why wish on a shooting star when u can wish on the same star every time (hello venus, the evening star. thanks for being noticeable) lmaooo but to answer this particular question, no, bc the only time i saw a shooting star i was too busy going "omg did you guys see the shooting star omgomgomgomg" and i was too amazed by the fact that i'd seen one to remember the whole wishing thing. to not answer this question but instead ramble on a related note, i've wished on the evening star before, esp when i see it early/before it's dark. while i don't have a serious "i made a wish, it better come true" kinda thing, something about finding significance in something (anything in general, be it a lucky charm or angel numbers or a coin flip or whatever) and wishing on it is so... like... humanely beautiful and makes me ARGHHH and idk where im going with this but to relate it a lot more back to the question, i'm a star lover so like while i don't think my wish will come true, something about the act of wishing on the evening star makes me feel a little calmer? uhhhh

i get emotional so easily that i can't even name a movie i havent cried in so i am thinking very hard about this question. can't go wrong with barbie mermaidia (this scene) which i know made me laugh a lot as a kid. bibble is Too Iconic. a lot of barbie movies made me genuinely laugh as a kid (princess and the pauper bloopers, anyone?) the demon slayer movie made me laugh (ilu inosuke)???? i know theres another specific movie that ive genuinely laughed at to the point i had to pause it to collect myself but i can't remember the movie or the scene or anything????? i just remember showing my brother and telling him that this/thats my sense of humour????

when @decembermoonskz was talking about her OCs!!! the genuine excitement she had and the love and passion for them made me so !!!!!! other than that, i think it was a month or two ago when i purchsed the second volume of the given manga..? its rarely in store + it's always the same volume(s) in store sigh

30. What do you do to feel at peace?

when im listening to music. when the weather is bright but not hot, and its sunny but like.. diffused... bc clouds in the sky.. and theres a cool breeze. when i'm alone, looking at the ocean or other scenery (in above weather conditions). when it's raining and i have a book or i'm motivated to write. when i wake up and know i've hours of sleep ahead of me (and i'm able to fall back asleep). when i'm in the car with my friend at night, and she's driving, and i'm looking out the window at the passing lights and the moon and the stars and we aren't talking but that's okay and there's music in the background and i feel safe.

Andrew Dabb is by far the weakest showrunner SPN has had. I dont understand why you stan him? I mean, you're entitled to your opinion of course but to me he obviously doesnt care about canon or the Winchesters, only the side characters and pandering to the 1% (Hellers)

First, let me say I don't “stan” him, I just don't think he’s any worse than any other showrunner SPN has had, and in some ways, he's even better.  Apologies up front that this may run long, but I have a lot to say about the subject.

I didn’t join the Tumblr fandom until s11 was over and the show had changed hands from Carver to Dabb. All summer long I heard from Hellers how Dabb hates the Winchesters toxic co-dependency and is going to do away with it. And he is “for sure” going to make Destiel canon because he likes it and so does his assistant, she even had books published on the subject! So everyone not interested in that ship, dispised Dabb before the season even started filming, However, the Hellers were proven wrong, Dabb has done the least destiel pandering than ANY other showrunner, and has improved on Sam and Dean’s relationship while still managing to keep them dangerously co-dependent, but for some reason, the Hellers still preach the opposite and the bibros still believe them. I don’t think the fandom gave Dabb a fair chance. 

Now,  I agree that there have been some bad stories, and failure to keep up with canon and some annoying retcons but because i actually watch the series over and over, I can see this has been a problem with every showrunner, even Kripke.  A problem I have seen with the show since the beginning is maybe, there have been too many writers and maybe they dont watch the show or read what other writers have written from episode to episode. But since this has been a constant, I dont go nuts when it happens over and over because I still love the show and I am still invested in the whole story. 

One thing I learned quickly when I came to the fandom is the hypocrisy is level 50 on all sides. One side hates the other because theyre bullies but the other side isnt much better.  Bitter girls are critical of the other brother for things they dont hold against their fav and everyone thinks J2 hate the show as much as they do. These people may never know how ridiculous they look by watching a show for 10 years past the time they stopped liking it, or bitching about a show they dont even watch anymore and pretend they have a clue whats going on. 

As I watch the Krikpe era recently, I like picking out things that the fandm would cry about if it happened now. In s1 Faith all the reapers were scary monster looking shriveled old dudes, and then in 2.1 (Less than 10 episodes later) Dean’s Reaper tells him Reapers can appear as whatever they want even a pretty girl “RETCON!!!” I could hear y’all crying if Dabb did that.  And why did saying “Christo” help point out a demon once but never again? (till s14 when they did a call back)

How about fan-favorite Mystery Spot? We all love that right? But if it wasnt an episode until the Dabb era, you would all flame it because Sam keeps saying every day is exactly the same, thats how he knows what is going to happen and yet none of the days are the same as the one before. “THESE WRITERS SUCK!!!!!” is the response you all would give 

The End is literally double Dean and 5 minutes of Sam. In the Beginning is literally 46 seconds of Sam, if these episodes happened now alll id hear is “Dabb hates Sam... writers hate Jared!!” 

How about S4 when the Angels are threatening to kill Sam for using his powers, and yet, they want him to kill Lilith with his powers?? What? Theres no way that would fly in the Dabb era. 

How about introducing the Anti-Christ in a season about The Apocolypse and not following through on it? Or how everyone shades Dabb for pushing Wayward sisters when Kripke pushed Ghost Facers? Even threw in a random and highly out of place advertisement for their web series that never went anywhere? (random promo in Hammer of the Gods) or having girls constantly getting in the boys’ way and Dean frequently telling Sam he cant trust him and doesnt believe in him?? “No one knows the brother’s love as well as Kripke uwu” 

As far as destiel fodder goes, if anyone just started watching SPN in s12, they would never get a vibe that Dean and Cas have a thing, but maybe Sam and Cas do, Cas and Dean are hardly even friends since S12, yet the Kripke era gave birth to Destiel, and Gamble and Carver fed into it “I gripped you tight and raised you from perdition” “He was your boyfriend first” “Bases loaded bottom of the 9th, (cas) Id rather have you (as opposed to Sam) “ *dean carries trench coat around in the trunk of all his beater cars* “I need you.... we need you” “Theres people, and feelings, that I want to experience differently now, maybe for the first time” (when the only people in Deans life at the time were Sam and Cas) ALL came before Dabb, and what is Dabb guilty of? “I love you, I love all of you” and a mix tape. 

So no... Dabb isnt perfect, but he definitely doesnt suck. I just think y’all decided to hate him before s12 and just never gave him a fair shot.  Hardly any of you rewatch the series and cant remember things that happened back in the day, you just all seem to have this notion it was all gritty car scenes, googly eyes and dirty motel rooms.

Okay let's get some pre-requiset "knowns" out here in print.

1. Aziraphale and Crowely are in love. How in love, you may say? Sexual, Romantic, Platonic? HA, these mortal definitions don't cut it. But let's go with Romantic and Platonic as the main feelings, since that is what we see in the TV show (and forgive me, I'm reading the book now, so I'm assuming it's similar in the source text) (also it's just really good to have gay/queer representation without it being sexual. Because gay (and umbrella term gay) does not always have to be a sexual thing. It can be just sweet which is *chef kiss* anyway moving on)

2. Aziraphale is bullied by the other angels of heaven. Being told (roughly, excuse me for not remembering word for word) he is a "worthless excuse for an angel", that his efforts are "pointless", that he should just go along with the plan, not care for humanity (UM EXCUSE ME ARNT YOU THE SIDE THATS SUPPOSED TO LOVE AND CARE FOR HUMANITY anyway).

And, to the face of Aziraphale, but fallen on the ears of Crowely - "just shut up and fucking die already" - Aziraphale is not only disrespected, but disliked/hated by his fellow angels. Which is incredibly.... Worse than demons. Because at least you expect it from demons

3. Crowely gets a bit more respect from the demons than Aziraphale gets from the angels. Crowely has lead organized plans (like the road and that whole presentation) and has a say in things. Because, After all, Crowely does a good job at doing a bad job. Satan likes his work, he even got to deliver the Antichrist. Yeah they are not peachy buddies down there, they are demons. It's expected to be nasty. But there is/was a level of somewhat respect. Not trust, not admiration, just hard earned respect. (Which was slowly lost, yeah, as Crowley got a little too close to humanity and also fought against Armageddon but hey that's details)

Ok, got that squared away

So it's expected for demons to be sour, but it is not expected of angels to be Hateful, downright cruel, expecially to one if their own..... like Aziraphale (SWEET BABY BOY). This boy is cinnamon bun sweet - durring his first week on earth he gave his sword away to a pregnant woman because he was worried about her safety. Aziraphale pretty much embodies what is stereotypically expected of an angel...

In my opinion, part of the reason Aziraphale and Crowley enjoy each other's company on earth is because they feel seen in each other's eyes with an eye of genuine respect. Their agreement has it so that they do their jobs, but still remain on a level field, in the most convoluted way to keep each other in their company the Stars have ever seen. But further more -

They see just how their work influences humans on a very very deep and personal level. One that their bosses don't see, and certainly other demons and angels don't understand. The personal touches and how it influences humanity, which they have grown to enjoy (and love) in ways the others in heaven and hell don't.

Okay okay but here is my point.

Crowely has spent the last 6000 years with only distant memories of what inteacting with angels is like, and then he spends a lot of time with Aziraphale, which he then connects that's what other angels maybe also act like. And he watches, over the years, Aziraphale go up and come back from Heaven. Still cheerful, still optimistic. Maybe melancholy, but sunny none the less. Following orders... "happy"

Then.... Armageddon happens. And they stop it. And they are each kidnapped

Aziraphale is not surprised by how the demons treat Crowely. They are demons, he actually has blfun being a bit of a Bastard around them. But Crowely... He watches Gabriel mock him, belittle him, in a tone of familiarity with the thought and no remourse, to a man about to die. Aziraphale has been dealing with this jackass for so long, and of coarse he is not the type to truly complain about it. He takes it. Takes it and takes it and takes it. Being told he is less than.... His thoughts, his worries, his interest in humanity... Unimportant.

So no wonder Aziraphale looked so happy when he felt validated. So overjoyed when invited to lunch, when his books were saved by the bombs. it was someone else saying "hey, your interests are valid to me,".

And then Crowley calls him his best friend, mourns his death... Aziraphale is not just loved back, but missed. Missed by someone he maybe didn't think would miss him until he heard it.

Because the angels would not miss him... Surely, deep down, nobody would.

But no. Crowely misses him. Crowely appreciates him. Crowely sees his work on the world - he was an Angel once, too - and it makes Aziraphale feel validated.

And Crowely, too, understand the feeling of the fellow demons not understanding the pleasures of human life. There is no common connection there, they don't get it like Aziraphale does. The nastiness is expected, but the pain is lessened by Aziraphale and his love of books and food and clothing and dancing - of humanity. Of his understanding of why Crowley may want to change his name, or change his clothing, and hair, of why he takes precious care of his car and care for plants (in his own special way) and ramble drunkenly together. And why they needed to save the world.

They each enjoy praise because they only get praise from each other. Only feel truly seen and heard and maybe loved by each other. It's the love that cannot be defined.

Because they were the only good damn angel and demon out there that cared about the earth. They belong together, because the love between the two of them would have been destroyed with Armageddon, no matter who won. They can't live without each other.

And that's why they are weak to it because.... praise/complement kink starved from lack of validation from 6000+ years of being hated by everyone else except each other. It's gay

Crowley makes Aziraphale feel validated, and when they switch places Crowley sees just how badly he is treated in heaven by the other angels
