Hi, I was wondering about shoto Todoroki before going to be so this may sound a bit nonsense but ...did Shoto really changed or the narrative tricked us?
I want to preface I have no beef with Shoto, this is not a Shoto slander nor hate. I'm curious bc his storyline could have been great haven't be allowed to be.
My thing with Shoto is...his big changing moment is when Izu said "it's your power, bit his" and cool moment, Shoto used his fire and won. I have grievances on how Izu sacrificed a win (I admit I don't think he could have won against Shoto nor BK should but moving on) and got...nothing. Look, not saying Izu should be reward for every little thing but after that moment we could have got a Shoto and Izu friendship (to justify why the fuck Shoto would give his backstory to a complete stranger. Srsly he and Izu were non entities prior the moment)
And yes, Shoto get brownie points for helping Izu in the stain arc. That was nice of him - it set him apart from class A1 who ignored his calls/message "ah but his message was a mess" maybe so but no one shows concern for him! Izu is not someone who cries wolf. Plus they were in patrol.
But ...after that, it seems the character didn't change. He still wants to be a hero. I wouldn't understand if Shoto couldn't stop being hero bc of his father...bc he fears him, let's be real Shoto was a minor and Endy is violent and powerful enough to make his life awful if Shoto decides to be anything else...very convenient shoto wants to be a hero.
In the license arc, Shoto didn't get the license. We do attribute this to Inasa being an entitled fan...but is that just this? Does Shoto helped the others? Acted like a hero? I still remember moments of that anime and in this arc I don't remember Shoto being a team player...I could misremember here.
He makes no friendship, certainly not with Izu. I would argue he befriend BK and that is a Freudian slip - yes, let's blame hori and this is correct as Shoto should hate BK since he hates his father.
There a oneshot to explain the movie "Izu you are a mass murder" where Shoto looks amazed at BK destroying smth of Izu. As if Endy never did smth similar to him in the past which for sure happened.
Its just ...I don't think Shoto changed or had to change.
Izu ...sort change...for worse. He started the story thinking he is worthless. Ended thinking he is a loser- he voiced that, canon. And can only be a hero if someone, his lifelong abuser, handed him a magical suit. Its something so sad bc it fits perfectly on the whole "character hallucinate everything you see in the story"
Something @thr0wnawayy mentioned about Izuku's delusion stuck with me bc...it makes sense.
Not sure why I'm talking about shoto. You could argue many characters didn't change or got worse.
Ochako now is a superficial bitch. Even if hori makes Izuocha canon with kids and marriage ...he will still write Ochako being passive aggressive with Izu, people will joke the kids aren't his - cucko Izu was big and while decreased, it never stopped.
Class A1 is how a bunch of fake friends who only call Izu when they need something. Izu just accepts this is his life.
We read this manga expecting him to be a great hero...and we have this "happy ending" where it would be kinder if Izuku had died along side Shig.
That...makes me think. A lot.
Tô any novice writers reading this...you can fall in love with a character, you can fall out of love with a character but be professional. Think of the story and...don't be a Hori.

shouto is absolutely, 100% the type to have what you deem to be the ugliest picture of you and cherish it. he'd have it as his home screen and everything and deem it worthy of being hung up in a gallery. you tell him to change it when you see it immediately and he looks so utterly shocked and confused. he quickly denies it when you say it doesn't look very flattering. seriously too, face hardening a bit when he shakes his head and some strands fall close to his eyes.
"no, i like it." and just for safe measures he looks at his screen again and nods to himself afterwards "you look beautiful. you always do."
yeah, you're not so sure about that, but you unfortunately don't have much of a choice. your boyfriend is a sweetheart but god could he be stubborn..

I cant sleep cause when oh when are we gonna talk about how shoto is 100% a child of SA?
It is so heavily implied in the scene of shotos birth, how endeavour looks at her crazed, the fear and fatigue in her own eyes before we hear shotos cries. People do not realise that it was not just physical abuse that Endeavour portrayed towards Rei but also sexual. Even if she was on board with the first three children, Shoto is 100%, as Touya says, a child of calamity.
This is also why it isn't possible for the todoroki family to ever have a happy ending. Because if shoto was a child of SA, in another world where endeavour is normal, he wouldn't have been born.
Thank you and good night

going shopping with shoto todoroki, except that by the end of the day, both of you are carrying an amount of bags that seem almost impossible. best part? all of these bags belong to you.
to be clear though, you hadn’t exactly asked for so much stuff. it’s just that your boyfriend, your beautiful, rich boyfriend, wanted to spoil you today.
his way of spoiling you, though, is buying you every single thing that meets your eyes.
if he sees you look at an item a second too long, you best bet it’s already being paid for. and don’t let him catch you picking up and inspecting something, because next thing you know you not only have said ‘something,’ but you also now own it in all other available colors.
you didn’t know how to tell him that all these items might not fit into your closet, or that you didn’t exactly need most of them. no, you couldn’t tell him, not when he seemed so pleased.
actually, shoto looked a little bit too happy at all this.
since it was quite unusual for him to look this way, it was almost impossible to miss the satisfied smirk smile he tried to suppress as you got your nails and hair done (all of which he not only paid for, but also gave suggestions on what you should do).
it wasn’t until later, when he got a call from a very angry endeavor, that you realized what he had done.
he had bought a fortune worth of items, for you, using his dad’s credit card.
that’s a quick way to get on your father in law’s bad side…

10 Things I Hate About Katsuki Bakugo
◤━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◥
001. English Literature is a Pain in the Ass
The September breeze sent all things flimsy to sway in its path. The wind danced with the falling leaves before hitting the ground, occasionally picking them back up only to fall once again. You loved this time of year. It was perfect for going outside without having to dress in a stringy top to beat the heat or wearing a jacket over your stylish outfit. The only downside to this amazing weather was the tradition of going to school at the start of the month.
You let out a breathy sigh, head in the palm of your hand as your elbow rested against the windowsill. The windows of your faded red Dodge Dart GT were rolled down, allowing the wind to blow through your luscious (H/C) locks. Your loud, edgy music causing heads to turn in your direction the further down the street you went. As you came to a red octagon, you stopped, letting the following cars pass by accordingly at the four-way. You tapped rhythmically on the steering wheel as you patiently waited, paying no mind to the four girls in the pale moon convertible next to you.
You stepped on the gas, turning into your schools parking lot. It was a struggle finding a spot to park due to everyone walking and waiting around for God knows what. You were relieved once you found an empty space, quickly pulling in with no hesitation.
You navigated your way through the crowded courtyard, your messenger bag filled with books in hand. You bumped shoulders with anyone who obviously saw you were walking, but refused to move even if it was the teensiest step forward to clear a path. It was only seven in the morning and you were already fed up with everyone's shit.
The bell rung and eventually you made it to your first class of the day: English Literature. You sat in the second row of the seating chart. Intently, you listened to Aizawa drone on like he always did at the beginning of class.
"Okay, then. What did everyone think of The Sun Also Rises?" He scanned his sluggish students after he asked, looking for any volunteers to speak freely about the book.
A girl in your class named Hagakure raised her hand, bringing it down once she made eye contact with Aizawa. The class turned to look at her, including yourself. She spoke in a dreamy tone, "I loved it. He's so romantic."
"Romantic? Hemingway?" You asked, wondering if she was being serious. You heard Aizawa release an elongated sigh before you turned to him and continued, "He was an abusive alcoholic misogynist who squandered half his life hanging around Picasso trying to nail his leftovers."
"As opposed to a bitter self-righteous hag who has no friends?" Kaminari asked from the back of the class, earning a few chuckles from his buddies. You rolled your eyes at the comment from him. He held his hand out toward a smaller high school boy, Mineta. The crisp clap of their hands was cut short when Aizawa shouted at him.
"Pipe down, Chachi." That quickly wiped the smirk off Kaminari's stupid face. He was embarrassed to say the least. It wouldn't have been the first time he was shut down by Aizawa in front of a large crowd.
"I guess in this society being male and an asshole makes you worthy of our time." You didn't waste a second to snap back. Your classmates groaned, knowing you were about to go on a spiel. "What about Sylvia Plath, or Charlotte Brontë or Simone de Beauvoir?"
The door opened, totally unscripted from the looks of everyone's faces. As nosy as your class was, they turned their attention to the person at the door.
The tall teenage boy wore a black, short sleeve t-shirt. His straight fit, dark wash jeans ran down to his plain sneakers. His chiseled jawline looked almost like it could slice and dice any vegetable he wanted to.
"What'd I miss?" He asked as he panted. He looked like he'd just run a marathon—sweaty and a pinkish tint added to his cheeks. A clear frown was plastered onto his face. His crimson eyes darted around the classroom.
You turned away and crossed your arms over your stomach. You stared Mr. Aizawa right in the eyes as you spoke, as if he were to blame for the previous conversation, "The oppressive patriarchal values that dictate our education."
"Good." The blonde spat, doing a 180 on his heel, and walking out of the classroom before Aizawa could stop him.
"Hey, hey!" Aizawa shouted after him.
"Mr. Aizawa. Is there any chance we could get (Y/N) to take her Midol before she comes to class?" Kaminari, once again, was mouthing off about you. Of course, even more of your classmates laughed at his joke.
You felt like it was a game of turning between Kaminari and Mr. Aizawa. You were getting tired of it. You whipped your head once more, giving Kaminari the meanest glare he'd ever seen. You wanted to wipe the floor with his smug face.
"Someday you're gonna get bitch-slapped, and I'm not gonna do a thing to stop it." Aizawa shook his head around, emphasizing his sentence. You felt a small ego boost from him taking your side, especially because Aizawa would usually just ignore the conversation or egg you both on. Your teacher began to slowly strut to your side of the classroom, making direct eye contact with you as he did so. "And (Y/N), I want to thank you for your point of view. I know how difficult it must be for you to overcome all those years of upper-middle class suburban oppression. Must be tough."
"Anything else?" You sarcastically inquired, expecting there to be a complaint about your mouthy and unpopular view of things.
"Yeah, go to the office. You're pissing me off." Aizawa pointed to the door, walking back to the front of the class.
"What? Mr. Aizawa—"
"Later!" Your teacher cut you off, holding a hand up to silence your protests.
You rolled your eyes in defeat, standing from your desk and grabbing your satchel. Scattered chuckling was heard, including the most obnoxious coming from Kaminari. As you swung your book bag onto your shoulder, you managed to hit the annoying blonde in the shoulder. No remorse coming from you when he exclaimed in shock.
Upon entering the office, you were checking in with the front desk lady, explaining the situation. Though, she already knew of your antics and how much Aizawa despised you in his class.
"Emi!" As if on cue, Ms. Joke was at the door of Ms. Midnight's office. "What's another word for "engorged"?"
"I'll look it up." Ms. Joke offered, scurrying back to her desk.
"Okay." Midnight whispered. You listened to her ponder as you wandered into her room. The office lady told you to have your almost "daily talk" with Midnight. Midnight stared at her computer screen, typing then deleting words from her page, "Swollen. Turgid."
"Tumescent?" You asked, hands in your pockets.
"Perfect." Midnight mused, returning her gaze to the screen in front of her. She put her red-framed glasses on. Midnight typed and talked at the same time, trying to finish her lewd work, "So, I hear you were terrorizing Mr. Aizawa's class again."
"Expressing my opinion is not a terrorist action." You defended, sitting in the uncomfy chair across from Midnight.
"The way you expressed your opinion to Minoru Mineta?" Midnight shut her laptop, taking off her glasses and setting them on her desk. She faked a smile as she spoke, "By the way, his testicle retrieval operation went quite well, in case you're interested."
"I still maintain that he kicked himself in the balls."
"The point is, (Y/N)..." Midnight picked up her mug, assumably sipping on her morning coffee before she continued. Her fingers remained in the handle of the mug, "People perceive you as somewhat..."
"Tempestuous?"
""Heinous bitch" is the term used most often." Midnight informed. You looked to the floor, then brought your gaze back up as you smiled to yourself at the funny description. Ms. Midnight saw that you took pride in the saying, she admired that you could handle such strong words, but for the sake of other students, advised otherwise, "You might want to work on that. Thank you."
"As always, thank you for your excellent guidance." You stood from your seat, repeating the same process you did when you were in class; scooping your messenger bag onto your shoulder. "I'll let you get back to Captain Celebrity's quivering member."
You walked out of the room before she could even say anything. She didn't know how you knew she was writing about one of her favorite American heroes.
""Quivering member"," Ms. Midnight hummed in thought. Then she lifted her computer screen, typing a storm, "I like that."

i honestly dont gaf about the mha ships if they're healthy (i actually won't interact with the fandom that much), but leave ochaco tf out of it if you want to ship deku with someone else. like you shouldnt have to demonize another character to get the ship you want
like holy shit the amount of things I've seen "headcanon: ochaco is jealous so she's a bitch" "headcanon: ochaco doesn't actually care about deku, she cheats on him" "headcanon: ochaco is using deku for money"
QUIT DEMONIZING HER WTF DID SHE DO 😭😭😭 god forbid a fmc is kind and sweet all the while being surrounded by cruel things happening every season. god forbid a fmc have a healthy relationship with the mmc. god forbid a fmc get character development. the audacity people have to make uraraka a bitch even though she is probably the most sweetest girl in mha is beyond me, making me do backflips over here, 360s

Endeavor sucks so here's a rant cause i've seen too many people say he isn't that bad lately
(CW / TW for abuse, ptsd mention) going in best order of episode events, but also including manga spoilers (sections are indented so you can skip the manga parts)-
this is pulling from source material but also very opinioned based. I get people saying he's an interesting character (kinda) but i hate seeing people excuse what he did because "aww he feels bad now." like him if you want but hating on other's for not liking him is just stupid.
it will also be long, but I have a lot of thoughts, hope at least some people agree with me lmao
i started typing this around when ch 390 came out so i know this has all been said before but with the new season coming out and like i said more people defending him i wanted to finally post this
"The Boy Born With Everything."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"That kid of mine will beat you some day, I'll make sure of it. That's why I created him."
Endeavor admitting he only had kids to be heroes, ones better than All Might, shows he does not truly care about his children. He only wanted them because he couldn't handle his failures. He sees them as a tool, not as his own kids, not as people. That's obvious in almost everything he says to and about Shoto.
And while I hate him, he isn’t a failure hero wise. He’s literally the # 2 hero out of however many hundreds there are. He’s simply mad he can’t beat AM? What is he a child who thinks he deserves everything he wants because he’s never been told no?
When Shouto finally used his fire Endeavor yelled about him finally realizing his “purpose.” More proof he sees his children, Shouto specifically, as tools. They aren't humans to him, they don't have their own feelings or goals, they are a means to an end. A means to his end. Shouto overcoming his own guilt (guilt caused by Endeavor) doesn’t matter to him. What matters is he now feels Shouto is worth something.
Class 1A vs 1B (i dont remember the exact episode names)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the flashback we get after Tokoyami talks to Shouto we hear Endeavor say, “Touya was close… Come on Shouto you’re the only one who can master this move.” Endeavor was putting the weight of his dead son's “failure” on the shoulder of his 5 (?) yr old kid. Making the kid who just lost his older sibling feel like he has to be better, or he could die too.
Tumblr media
“Quit pretending to be weak.” Bro that is your very young kid. He is weak. Train him early, sure, whatever, but this is just abuse. You aren’t training him. Pushing your kid to the point of throwing up isn’t just training. It isn’t him being weak. It’s abuse.
I know this show is very flashback heavy in the first place but I really do interpret all the flashbacks Shouto gets of his dad as PTSD. Often times when fighting and in battle, after getting hit, he has memories of his dad. Sure, this could just be his motivation but I think it’s more than that.
"The Unforgiven."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I thought if I saved you, that you might never say a word to me ever again." Aka Endeavor saying, "I should save my son, so he maybe likes me again." Natsuo my beloved. I love when he is an ass to his dad. His own son is saying he could never forgive him because why does he "need to be the one to make an active effort to change?" and that even though Endeavor wants to make up what does he think he can do now? Natsuo will always see his dad as the one who killed his older brother, and I don't blame him. Because that is who Endeavor is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"He literally says in the episode he doesn't want forgiveness." And? He doesn't deserve it. He doesn't need to make Natsuo feel better for hating him when he has every right to after what his dad did to him and his entire family.
Sure, this episode is us seeing a "change" in Endeavor because he wants to be better, however, this is my post so I will say why I have a problem with this lmao. When did we see Endeavor start to change? After he became the number one hero. After he realized people were going to be looking at him even more.
The only good thing he does is realize that in order for his family to be happy he cannot be in the picture.
"Dabi's Dance"
Not including all the scenes I want to bc if I did, I'd just insert the entire ep lmao
"Oh, but he is changing. He regrets his actions." Why didn't he have regrets years ago when, to everyone's knowledge, his 13 yr old son had died? Endeavor didn't start feeling "guilty" until he became the number 1 hero. (as stated before)
And yes, we see and hear how upset Endeavor was over Touya’s death, but did he change? Did he stop being abusive and neglectful? Did he apologize and see his faults? Nope. So how bad did he really feel.
Dabi himself called him out on this during "Dabi’s Dance" when he said, “Is that why you finally decided to try to bond with your children? Keep looking toward the future and you can be a better man?"
On top of it all, Endeavor didn’t even step in to fight. Yes, he was shocked seeing his dead son in front of him again, but do you not think Shouto was shocked seeing his dead brother? He still fought.
Chapter 350
Tumblr media
Many people say Dabi was born in the fire. However, that isn't true. Touya didn't die in that fire. He died and Dabi was born 3 years later when he went back home and had seemingly been forgotten about. He woke up in a strange place, covered in burns and sounding completely different. He wanted to go home. He wanted to apologize for all the awful things he said. He was told that he has been severely injured and once again that he was a failure. He was scared and alone. So, he goes home thinking he will be accepted with open arms, that maybe everything would be better, and everyone will celebrate yet he gets there, and his dad is still the same. Abusing his siblings and his mom is gone. Not only that but to Touya's POV, he has been replaced by his younger brother.
Tumblr media
Plus does that not show you who Endeavor is as a person? That even after pushing his son to death he didn’t change.
"The Wrong Way to Put Out a Fire"
i won't include any clips or panels from this bc it is very intense and while this post will talk about it i still don't want to include those pictures
Going ahead and getting this out of the way because people love bringing it up for some reason, while what Rei did to Shouto was awful, obviously, it is not even close to being on the same level as the things Endeavor did to the entire Todofam. Rei was scared to look her own kids in the eyes because when she did, she saw Endeavor. She saw Endeavor's rage and feared for her safety, and in a moment of a clear panic attack and mental break defended herself, because look at Rei and tell me that woman doesn't have PTSD.
If the entirety of this ep didn't make you hate Endeavor and see he is incapable of change then idk what to tell you. Him convincing his very young child that his sole purpose is to be the next number 1 hero. He then finds out his kid physically won't be able to do that he tells him that he simply isn't good instead of sitting down and talking to him.
Buying Rei because he wanted to create his perfect child, then forcing her to be some baby machine. (Random fact that always haunts me is that Touya and Fuyumi were born in the same year.) Abusing Rei repeatedly. As well as, hitting her in front of the kids with a very young Shouto between them while the other two hide in a corner. Blaming Rei for Toya continuing to train when it is his own fault. Then on top of that, not going to Sekoto peak. He could have shown up for 2 seconds but no.
We also see another instance of Rei seeing Endeavor in her own kids when she tried to stop Toya from going and training like when Shouto came to check on her when he was little.
When Touya had a breakdown and tried to kill Shouto, instead of seeing the pain Toya was feeling and realizing his own mistakes, Endeavor just isolated Shouto from his siblings. Didn’t let him play with them, by what Natsuo said at dinner he monitored what he ate and when.
Also, I don’t wanna her “Dabi was insane from the start” after trying to kill Shouto. That was an abused child, turned neglected child, asking to be seen. Begging to be looked at. He, like Rei later on, snapped. He realized that if he wanted to be seen then the only one his dad cared about needed to be gone
Chapter 390.
Shouto finally shows up and brings Dabi down. Somehow Dabi is still alive and this is where he states that everyone, including him, should die. Endeavor then apologizes. Sure, he apologized, better late then never, whatever. However, it just really feels like he is speaking over Dabi. Dabi could be dying, could be saying his last words, and Endeavor starts talking. I will say I like how he acknowledges exactly what he did in some way. That he "pushed Rei past her breaking point", "put everything on Fuyumi's shoulders", and "abandoned Natsuo." It just all feels so empty and really doesn't mean anything with his entire family burned and scarred and Dabi lying on the ground, as well as Shouto passing out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Endeavor’s “I’m sorry” only goes so far when his son is lying almost burned to death yelling for them all to die, Shouto over working himself to stop Dabi when even his dad couldn’t, and his non hero family standing on the battlefield as well.
In conclusion, Endeavor is an abuser. He pushed his 13 yr old son to death, pushed his wife past her breaking point then sent her away, neglected his other two children because they weren't what he wanted, and only felt bad after he achieved his dream. After he got everything he wanted despite it being built on a broken home and the victims he created along the way.
Like I said if you want to like him that's fine, but don't get mad at others when they don't like him. The Todoroki subplot hits home for a lot of people. It is a very serious and real situation. Take away the hero aspect and Endeavor is just another abuser in the world, something many people have been through.
Anyways if anyone read all of this hope you enjoyed. Hope some people agree. If you didn't leave an ask or comment lmao let's debate.
