does anyone in the wc fandom know of a sandstorm ship that doesnt include fireheart at all? nothing against fireheart but hes with silverstream in my au and he has absolutely no reason to get sandstorm romantically involved with either of them.

all i can find is sandstorm x princess (fine but not thrilled about it), maybe sandstorm x longtail but nobody seems to actually ship those two without fireheart. that and hes her uncle in my au so.

anyone got any sandstorm rarepairs? even with totally obscure arc 1 backgrounders, i'll take anything

I don't know if I can see Sandstorm putting up Graystripe's antics for long enough to have kits with him. Like I feel like he cracks jokes during and after a couple she's just, "alright get out of my nest." Always figured he and Firestar had a side thing separate from their primary relationships for that reason (Firestar likes his jokes).

DustSand is classic though. And plenty of narrative drive for a litter after they both lost their other partners in the great battle. Fern/Dust/Sand/Fire seems like a really solid Leader's Den Polycule for ThunderClan in the Firestar era actually! (DustFire cuddles and added bonus with that; underrated!)

Will Firefrost adopt any kits or at least get more involved with kits or is he going to be this weird guy that walks into trees that apprentices respect but will also make fun of?

fun uncle who headbutts trees I think. I definitely have to include a scene where Longtail mocks Cloudkit and his sister and Firefrost snaps back and someone else is like "you can't exactly give lessons you've walked into a tree with your eyes wide open twice today"

As for adopting kits, I think he will kinda be the adoptive father of all the kits who's father he couldn't save (if Whitestorm dies before Bluestar, Firefrost will basically start raising SorrelRainSoot, etc). If I feel like going psychological he might also hang out way too much around the nursery when DustSand have Squirrelkit and her sister (who won't be named Leaf because Sand won't have come with him to revive Skyclan).

And obviously, he'll be almost as protective of Cloudtail (Goosekit) and OC!Niece (Thrushkit? still in debate) as he was of Cloudtail in canon.

Did anyone else ship Sandpaw and Dustpaw as a kid?? Like, when I was first reading the books I was like "oh these two are totally gonna date. theyre dating. theyre literally together?" and then sandstorm and fireheart got together. and. From there, I perpetually believed that Dustpelt was bitter about it. it has been in my head for so long that i genuinely cannot remember if this was a sideplot. it probably wasnt but oh my god.

Any of the three X Berrynose - its just FUNNNYYY all three of them have some sort of rivalry with him its just hilarious to imagine them having a dumb angry crush or being annoying dates... Hollyberry Jayberry and Lionberry we Stand.

Dustpelt/Sandstorm - again... theyre just funny... i miss their friendship they would’ve been a funny gossipy couple and I want it so bad... my ideal 1st series endgame is Firegray, DustSand, and Ravenbarley... and DustSand are just the annoying hets in the friendgroup but they love them anyways... please

Brambleclaw/Snowkit(warrior AU) - this one is just cute... waa.... ive seen so many aus where Bramblekit really understand Snowkit and becomes a good friend of his... then they train together,,, they have each other with Tawnypelt leaves.... it can also mirror Tigerstar and Whitestorm except more positively.. I love it... ;;__;;

😻 With Sandstorm and Dustpelt? (They're not my otp, but I've always wondered what their kits would be like!)

Gravelstep is a softie. He takes everything to heart although his tough looks would fool you. He is an excellent hunter, which is why he got the -step suffix. He does NOT like outsiders, especially kittypets, and says they are too soft, although that might just be a projection.

Soilwhisker doesn't think rules apply to him. He breaks just about every part of the Warrior Code in some way or another (such as stepping down from the Medicine Cat apprentice role as Soilpaw to pursue a pretty cute cat from another Clan only to come back as a warrior apprentice) and it's a wonder to see he's still in ThunderClan. A sharp tongue is all thats needed to get him in line for a bit.

If Firepaw and Graypaw had not been such great chums...

So, first AU on my new blog! Thrilling!

The premise I offered earlier was “If Firepaw and Graypaw had not been such great chums, Brambleclaw would never have become a leader”.

Why so?

Easy.

So you see, Bluestar had this thing where she always favored Firepaw/heart because he was destined to save the clan. And in her frenzy of favors, she took Graypaw/stripe too, because if she favored both, it would seem less suspicious.

So what did she do in Into the Woods? Basically allow Firepaw to lead an attack patrol on Shadowclan, by letting RavenGrey and him leave the camp at night, during the storm, then sending a patrol led by Whitestorm after them.

But Raven followed Firepaw because it was a matter of life or death to him. And Graypaw? He followed Firepaw because he was his best friend.

So after the battle, who was made a warrior? Exceptionnal, Prophecy Cat Firepaw/heart, and, well, to make it less suspicious to give such a young apprentice his warrior name, Bluestar made Graystripe a warrior too, at the same time.

And because they had been named warrior at the same time, when she gave Fireheart an apprentice (most probably to entertain the possibility to make him deputy someday), she gave one to Graystripe too, which would never have happened if Graystripe had not been Fireheart’s less-suspicious-pal and if he had not been his best pal anyway.

Graystripe only ever had one apprentice, that was Brackenfur.

So, if Graystripe had not been such a close friend to Fireheart, he would not have had this apprentice, in fact he would not have been made a warrior before DustSand, most probably.

So, in the darkest hour, when Whitestorm died and Firestar made Graystripe his deputy, he couldn’t have, because Graystripe wouldn’t have had an apprentice yet.

Now, why did Brambleclaw become a deputy? Because Graystripe had disappeared, and since no other cat disappeared / was kidnapped this way, the only reason Brambleclaw ever become a deputy was because of Graystripe’s absence. And if Graystripe had not been deputy, Brambleclaw wouldn’t either, because barely any cat who would have been fit to become deputy at the time died or retired before the Great Journey. The cats? Longtail, who became blind long before the Great Journey, and would have been replaced right away (because, contrary to Graystripe’s catnapping, it was immediate and there was no lingering feelings to replacing him), Willowpelt, who died long before the Great Journey again, and Mousefur, who would probably have not retired so soon if she had had such responsabilities (because, may I remind you, she lived basically as long after retiring than she did before).

Also, the reason why Graystripe was not replaced right away was mainly because, again, he was such a great friend to Firestar, and lingering feelings and guilt of replacing him etc. So if the catnapped deputy had been, say, Mousefur, Firestar would have probably named someone before the Great Journey, at least temporarily. And so Brambleclaw wouldn’t have been days away from becoming mentor and Firestar would not have made him deputy.

Where the hell is the chemistry for CrowSquirrel in the canon books? This is such a random ship it's pathetically laughable. Are you Squirrelflight stans so desperate for romance that you'll resort to anything. I don't know who's more stupid, you or the morons reading this shit.

Huh... Y’know considering the canon series has relationships that promote domestic abuse and paedophilia, I think I can live without sticking to them.

So, SquirrelCrow has no canon chemistry? Okay, maybe that’s true. But how about these ships -  LeafHawk, MothPool, IvyBreeze, RootShadow, HareCrow, IvyHawk, DustSand, HollyBreeze (this one used to be massive). All of these are relatively popular ships, and none of them have any canon hints to build them up. The only thing they have is that they are cats that have worked together at some point, or they are friends, like SquirrelCrow. But here’s the thing, it really does not matter at all. Because AU’s exist!

I’m not claiming to follow canon, I’m just twisting the narrative a little so a cat bonds with a different cat to the canon. But even if this was the most random ship in the entire fandom, would I stop shipping it because some c**t disagrees with me. Not a chance. People are allowed to ship anything they want. And if they present a narrative that gives a cool reason for the two to get together, then that’s even better! We should embrace the multitudes of AU’s that can be crafted throughout the fandom! Try expanding your tastes to see why people like these ships and, while you don’t have to like it, you can maybe understand why these people do.

It’s called basic human respect. Look it up.

If you don’t like the same ship as me, and if you hate my story, that is within your right. But don’t come at me because you are offended I’m not following your precious canon (if every ship had to follow the canon, it would be really damn boring). And don’t ever insult the people supporting me, because they have more brains and romantic taste than you could ever hope to have in your life!

so my thoughts on FireSand, because I saw someone (who will recognize themselves I just don't want this post to feel like a call out) argue that Sandstorm had fallen in love for Fireheart because he was always diving head first into danger and trouble, and actually I don't think it's right.

Because while she learned to respect him and become his friend in Fire and Ice and Forests of Secrets, the first time we see her express some romantic feelings (when Fireheart says Cloudpaw is the only family he has and she feels hurt, which might be a bit inconclusive as whether or not it's romantic feeling or just "the clan is a family") is in Rising Storm, the first time they are involved romantically is in The Darkest Hours when he asks her to share his den, and before Firestar's Quest they weren't officially a couple although the whole clan was like "yeah obviously you're together".

So I think she liked him when he was reckless and running into trouble, but she only started loving him when he was a more serious, responsible cat, aka when his duties as deputy then leader started shaping him into a more adult, secure, mature cat.

And anyway that's why, plus the fact Dustpelt feels betrayed when she goes with Fireheart, as if they had something going on, I think the DustSand ship will sail, if not effortlessly, at least smoothly in Firefrost.

Because Dustpelt is a serious-yet-funny guy, who's got a lot in common, a past to begin with, with her, and they can be best friends and mates with no problem.

I still prefer FireSand as far as canon go though.
