Since the first Sunday of this month fell on 4th of July weekend this month, we pushed our Chapter meeting back a month.  We couldn’t have asked for a better day to ride.  The weather was between 66 and 87 degrees with a light breeze, clear skies and low humidity.  Perfect riding weather and I had the perfect riding partner.  Bones made his 2017 riding debut.  It was great having him along for the ride too.  

We rode out through Clifton to go to the Chapter Board of Directors meeting first.  That was held at an Anita's restaurant which is a local chain specializing in New Mexico style cooking.  Bones enjoyed what is becoming his “usual” Anita’s breakfast, Carne Adovada and eggs.  Knowing we were going to a great burger joint after the meeting, I felt that was a bit much for me so I opted for a breakfast burrito.

Following our breakfast meeting, we rode over to the Fire Station for the Chapter meeting.  We had a good turnout of people and bikes.  I had invited Wolf and Mama to the meeting and saw them there as soon as we pulled in.  Wolf is the only guy I bring my bike to when it needs work as he and Mama run a nice home bike business.  The meeting ran a little longer than usual but eventually we lined up outside and had 11 bikes heading on the post meeting ride.

Our destination: Northern Neck Burgers in Tappahannock. We rode back through Clifton then followed back roads out through Nokesville and down into Fredricksburg before cutting over 3 and 17 into Tappahannock.  We stoped once for a stretch and hydration just outside of Fredricksburg.  We pulled into NN Burgers about 1:45 PM, and we were ready to eat.  Everyone had to agree that the food was worth the 104 mile ride.  They put the D in Delicious!

It was great having Bones on the bike with me.  We enjoyed our conversation and he took over as cameraman and shot some great pictures.  It also was nice to have an extra set of eyes checking over my shoulder to make sure no one fell out.  Bones also got an opportunity to “walk a mile in my shoes”.  He couldn’t find his boots so put on a pair of mine for the day - By mid afternoon, he saw how difficult it was to walk in my shoes - not because I have a tough life, but because he is a size 13 and my boots were a size 11 . . . His feet were screaming by the time we got home.

Aside from that we had a great day with fantastic food and great company . . . 250 miles . . . I can’t complain!
